SNOB!!!

snob, but looks good
This lady is rad, and a prime example of no-nonsense. Be prepared to learn some relevant stuff. I recommend this class to everyone I meet at school.
HOT HOT HOT! damn is she fine! She is very biased and presents in a very scientific method sort of way. DId I mention she is hot? If you like to look at a hot woman all class take hers!
A beautiful young woman. Not only is she physically attractive, she's also a brilliant person. She's way too organized! :) No nonsense, not an easy A, take it if you're an organization freak, you'll love her! Very clear, learned sooo much! :)
She is a great teacher as far as teaching, her exams are a little difficult but if you study the review sheet she gives you, you will easily get an "A" in the class.

She just reads from the slides, and its hard to ask questions in the middle. Her test are hard, and also the final. And she is snob! and boring!!!
She presents very interesting material in a very boring fashion which made the class O.K overall. She definitely knows her material. Tests were fairly fair. Yes I said fairly fair.
Wow! My first impression was,"What a beautiful young lady, she must be easy" but! NO, she is not easy to deal with, very knowledgable person though. She is very rude and annoyingly organised.
Cynthia is a harsh, insensitive instructor. My father died the semester I took her class and I had to miss 2 weeks of school. I asked her if she would give me an "incomplete" or "withdrawal" grade in the class. She refused, gave me an "F", and displayed no compassion towards my situation!!!
Prof Gonzalez is a good teacher
Very strict, gets upset easily
She is so beautiful so ****ing hot but unfortunately that's not worth it cuz she is so strict and she have a so ****in temper that you probably don't want a take her for a class cuz she fail you without compasion and she get upset if you ask her a question about the class.
I could have gotten an "A" with my eyes closed in this class. VERY EASY. Interesting material, although I never even read the book. Prof. Gonzalez was always nice to me, but in lecture was sometimes snappy or impatient.
GREAT! Lectures very organized, detailed and clear. Incorporates much science (biology, chemistry, anatomy) into the curriculum. Relies heavily on campus computer system for lecture notes, quiz articles and other class materials; you'd better know your way around a computer and have an SMC account.
Class is very easy, but she will not accept anythiing late. Not even a day. In lectures, can ocassionally "snap" at students, but it's not personal; that's just the way she is.
She is beautiful and very clear about everything. She isn't hard to approach and she is very easy to talk to. She is demanding but I like that. She gives you access to her lectures so you are able to pay more attention to her lecture. As long as you read and review lectures you will be fine.
Professional, organized, does not accept late assignments. Makes class interesting.
Cynthia says that “I want my students to leave my class feeling respect for what we’re mutually involved in. It’s okay with me if they feel I’m very strict or demanding, but I want them to know that my main goal is to teach well and be fair to everyone.” - From SMC's Summer 1993 Schedule of Classes
This course is so easy and so fun. She is a great teacher. There is a lot of reading but even during her eight week course, she has taught me a lot!
She's great, totally fair. highly reccommend. She only gets annoyed when people start asking vague, stupid questions, and I don't blame her!
Whether or not you'll like her class will depend on your own personality. The class itself is easy and very informative. She is knowledgeable and she's into what she's teaching. The one negative thing I'd say is that she takes herself rather seriously. But it's hard being beautiful =)
Supercilious and self-important. Likes flattery. Studying with her is stessful. Gonzalez's lectures are imprecise, heavily relied on papers, Power Point and DVDs, that makes them long and tiresome. Her review papers for the tests (as tests themselves) are irrational, and not helpfull at all. All assignments are in form of essay.

not as easy as it seems

She seems scary but she is really nice, helpful, interested in new information and precise. The class is long so it's hard to keep everyones attention, but she does IF YOU participate. If you are waiting for her to full you up with info and you are a lump you will NOT like this class. The beautiful must be serious to be taken seriously.
I thought she was very organized with her lectures. Very accurate and precise.
she is the most anal and stubborn teacher i have ever met. she is not organized most of the time and is a very hard grader. she is good in nut.1, but not good in nut.7
She is a tough cookie at first, but she will work with you if you show a genuine interest. She is very organized and thorough and encourages classroom discussion. You are gauranteed at least a B if you GO to class and review the notes. Study guides are provided and are very helpful.
If you are interested in sciences you should definately take her. She is fairly easy. I didn't open the book once and I got an A in her class. Just make sure you go to class on regular basis because there are mini quizzes everyday....but the quizzes are super easy and group quizzes!Only two exams. If you take her, do the work & don't waste ur tim
im a strait f student and even i passed this class with a c. RECOMEND!
I loved proffessor Gonzalez, she is very lineant with those who have trouble speaking perfect English like me. She is very caring proffessor. IF u show that u care about class, u win her but if show that u don't care, she won't care about ur grade. Common sense
Best Professor You Will Ever Have!!

Cynthia seems crazy at first but she turns out to be a great teacher. Her tests are covered in lecture and readings. If you plan on doing the work, you will pass with a good grade. I'm normaly a D student and i got a B. Dont be stupid because she hates stupid people. As do I. Class isnt Hard but it makes you work.
She is a great professor. Kind of hard at first but trust me you will love her class. I learned so much I really enjoyed taking this class. Test and final are hard but if you study you'll do good. Highly recommended.
cinthia is a great teacher she does NOT take crap from anyone. If you are attending and listening you WILL pass. very organized.

Great teacher.... very intelligent and if i had to define her with "one word"..it would be.. HOOOOOTTT .. other then that, just stick to the readings and lectures and you'll do fine!
dr. gonzalez is a no nonsense professor but hightly organized and clear during lectures. must read short articles before each class on which you'll have a group quiz. two exams (midterm and final) - study and you'll be fine. just show her you are interested, do what you're supposed to and you'll get an A!!! (i didn't use the book at all, just for d
Best science professor ever, Cynthia is great, her response is very quick, and her assignments and classes are really straightforward, I would highly recommend Dr. Gonzalez. Due to her class, I even quit smoking. Thank you Professor! LF
She is an outstanding teacher. Extremely well organized, responsive, prepared, always present to clarify any sort of doubts. You will learn a lot from her, as she will guide you thorugh the class to let you learn general principles but also important aspects to improve your own nutrition habits. Also, if you study in time what required, you will ge
really organized and nice. but doesn't like stupid people that ask stupid questions. one big assignment which is easy if you pay attention, 12 quizzes, drops 2, midterm and final 100 questions- easy if you study hard, detailed lactures. show up and listen to lectures and you'll get an A
Extremely professional and organized. Students who are offended by her low tolerance for incompetency should take that as a sign. The remark that she is a snob is false. She is a no BS teacher and apparently several of the BS students who have taken her class have learned how to use the computer.
Nutr7 Online was horrible! She was so behind on grading & posting lectures, assignments are too time-consuming, gets answers wrong in exams, anal grader, bad speller, constantly posts wrong dates/info in announcements, whines about why she hasn't had time to grade etc. I hated this class! And btw, Cynthia, "advisement" is not a word, it's ADVICE!
Hey this teacher is really cool but strict. The lecture notes are really helpful so be sure to print them out. I never picked up my book and I got an A. Take advantage of the extra credit its 50 points and makes a big difference. We have like 12 quizzes and she drops 4 of the lowest scores, 2 exams and a final. Take her you wont be sorry.
hmmmmm
She is not an easy professor, but she is clear what she wants. Also, be on time or you will miss a quiz. how ever later y. will have an extra credit. She will do every thing to help you... just be involved!!
Cynthia is a great professor and very easy to read. She puts it all out there; what she expects from you from the start. I have taken her twice and would take her again if I could. Her class is quick and tough, but just listen to what she asks for, complete that and the extra credit (which is soooo easy to do) and you will do great!
Online, worst teacher Ive ever had. Not hard in an educational sense, just hard to deal with. Wouldn't explain grading, just made up numbers at points. Doesn't care about students. problems with spelling, tons of typos in assignments & lectures. Insists you follow directions but doesn't even know what they are. if u like clear & concise don't take
I agree, HORRIBLE TEACHER! It's the last week of class and she still hasn't graded anything yet. Does not try to help you achieve but rather wants her students to fail. Expects you to proofread when she doesn't. No clarity. Bad directions. Low English skills. Frustrating and wordy. By far one of worst teachers I have ever had.
I had the hardest time getting help from this teacher. She is too busy with her own agenda to care about her students. I would not recommend her to anyone.
DO NOT TAKE HER! i took her online class, yes it is somewhat organized but SO intense. 3 exams, one 5 week project, 2 activities per week. so much reading ( from her pdf lectures to the book ). i would not recommend this class if its not in ur major! and she grades hard!
highly NOT recommended.
highly NOT recommended.
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS! It was rediculous and too much reading for one week. She expected us to read from our text, read up to 6 articles, and read 2-5 lecture notes that were all about 25 pages long ALL IN ONE WEEK. It was too much work for a class that should had been interesting and fun. Take it from some other teacher and enjoy it
Both nutrition 1 and 7 are awesome classes as long as you are interested in these subjects. If you're not, you'll have a really hard time. But if you just follow her directions it's easy to get an A. For the midterm and final she gives a study guide and if you answer every question on the study guide, you'll ace the test
I am taking this course as an 8 week online. As long as you follow her directions exactly, you will do great. as far as tests go, they are somewhat difficult, but it is all straight from the material and lectures she gives you. you will have to spend some time actually doing homework/activities, but none of them are that hard.
This class was not easy because it was only for 8 weeks. She gives you a loooooooot of homework and essays to write. I got an A and I am very interested in Nutrition, but I worked hard for it. Do not waste time and money just sitting in the class and listening her lectures. Start studying from the first day and write the essay in advance:-)
WARNING! This is not a joke. Do not take classes with this professor. She is a nightmare? Let?s talk about a teacher that loves herself. She does not teach to help the student. She will make sure that YOU KNOW that she is better then you. You will be overwhelm and stress.
Don't take her class.she is so mean. when I asked her a question, she did not answer, and she got upset, because i asked her a question. too much homework, and she is not trying to teach for student. she is trying to teach for herself. do not take her class.
I attended her online nutrition class. I dropped the class after 2 weeks bc she sent me an early alert letter stating that I needed stress and time management. Keep in mind this is an online course no interaction between me and the professor. This is wrong. Her syllabus is about the size of War And Peace, and she expects you to know it all.
To continue on my rant. I emailed the professor and she shot me an email back with the syllabus the size of war and peace back and told me to basically read it and know the guidlines 4 her class, I emailed her back and she turned me in for disorderly conduct. She has no compassion for her students and SMC needs to reconsider her teaching there.
HORRIBLE TEACHER! I am not a lazy person, and this class is by far the biggest joke. She gives study guides for her exams, yet the tests do not contain any of the same material. She gives you approximately 3 activities and 3 lectures a week that consist of 25 slide power points. She is not clear with her expectations, and docks points for everythin
This prof was extremely easy all you have to do is do your work, pay attention in class and come prepared to take notes. Dont believe wat other people say, im usually a lazy person and i got a B in the class!!
She's very strict and puts out her expectations from the start, but as long as you pay attention and do the work, you can get an A. I had her for the 16 week intensive course, hard, but worth it.
(I meant to say 8 week)
Not helpful when responding to questions. Subtracts points and doesn't explain why. Poor instructor.
DO NOT TAKE THIS!! I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED. MAJOR chip on her shoulder. Gives students ZERO on PAPERS. Grading is a joke. Embarrassingly unrealistic and impractical. Emailing complaints over grades gets you WRITTEN UP. NO JOKE. She is NOT a teacher, she is just an administrator. HORRRRRRRIBLE PERSON. I have all A's on my transcripts, now I have a C!
She is one of the best teachers i have ever taken. i had her for the eight week session. You only have to do two projects and they are easy. No homework only read the text and print some articles for the class. Her lectures are interesting and you really learn great information that you can use for your health. I recommend taking her!!!!!
Worst class I have had at SMC! I wanted a NUTRITION class! What I got is dis information. Like this: 1952The Immigration and Naturalization Act brings into one comprehensive statute the multiple laws that govern immigration and naturalization to date. 1954:Ellis Island closes, marking an end to mass immigration Well no in 1965 the Immigration
This class has nothing to do with nutrition-it's all about culture, which would be fine except this was supposed to be a nutrition class. Easy work, but there's too much of it. Complains about her personal life all the time. Easy tests, straight from her lecture. No need to buy book because it's useless, much like this class. Dont take this class!
This class is useless. It's not about nutrition at all. She has problems in her personal life and brings them up in class. She plays favorites and if you're not one she will ignore you. It's a complete waste of time. Really easy but so boring. Bring some other work to do in class. Grade Received: A.
She does an excellent job making the material interesting, up to date and informative. The size of the syllabus initially concerned me, but couldn't be happier with the class and style of the professor.
The course is titled food and cultures in America, yet all the class is about is foriegn cultures (not even pertaining to food). She is not clear on what she expects from her assignments, and does not leave any constructive criticism on how one may improve on future assignments. Most of the lecture info is useless or not even used. horrible teacher
lecture info is useless, the course is about food and cultures in America, she lectures about foriegn cultures not even pertaining to food. she is unclear about her expectations, and doesn't give constructive feed back on assignments. she has many grammatical errors in her lectures...shes absolutely a waste of tax payer money
scattered. opened class w/33 announcements in 30 point font - ridiculous. tests are not hard, but a lot of the questions are not even grammatically correct, making answering them correctly difficult. does not like being questioned over grades. severely lacks attention to detail & misses stuff. i spent more time on this than my biology class.
An online class: Only 1 hour consultation/week, Material lacks clarity, Difficult to understand, Not responsive to questions. Overall experience NOT WORTH TAKING.
She is weird! I mean, the whole class devides into 1.82% grades which are so stupid! the way she grades them are more weird, she takes points off for nothing! Simply a bad taecher for nutrition class. the syllibus and the whole class is not organized good at all! you will get a headache after your first login!!!
A BIG AWFUL TEACHER. WOULD NOT HELP HER STUDENTS TO GET A GOOD GRADE. I FINALLY GOT AN F. SHE IS SO UNCLEAR WITH WHAT SHE EXPECTS! SHE IS AWFUL. DONT TAKE THIS COURSE IF YOU ARE FOR AN A OR B GRADE.
Since the instructor's directions for evaluating her are NOT CLEAR (just like the instructions for assigments in this class), I have to leave a review here. Poor grammar in lectures, tons of broken links, unclear on assignment requirements, contradicts herself a lot. Would NOT recommend, unless student likes to struggle for an A. HATED this class.
She's really not a hard professor at all. Just pay attention. I took both her Nutrition 1 and 7 classes. The book helps with her exams, but she's really easy to understand if you just want an easy A. She's great and really knows her material, albeit a bit skeptical and wary of quackery.
She has high expectations of her students, which is refreshing. Do not plagiarize even slightly! Very informative class; you will learn a lot from the lectures/slides, and the book. Fair and honest instructor - tries to help out students whenever she can. Great class!
I took this class online and she is very disorganized! When she gives instructions for an assignment they are in multiple places which can get you confused and make you miss things that were really easy to do! Make sure you properly cite your work!!! She makes a lot of grammar mistakes and overall is not a good professor:( Don't really recommend!
I really enjoyed her class. She is extremely intelligent and very helpful. I highly recommend her!
I had no previous interest in nutrition, did not know what to expect. This class was fun, knowledgeable and interactive. It is an easy A if you participate, follow the exact directions she gives in either discussions and papers (only 2). Loved this class. Will take nutrition 1 with her!
Please be cautious if you take this class. This professor is not terribly professional and highly emotionally labile, verging on paranoid. Although her notes and instructions are frequently unclear, DO NOT ask question or appear too smart. She frequently feels personally attacked, so it is in your best interest to lay low.
This professor lacks professionalism. She teaches an online class, but has very disorganized and difficult to use online materials info in many place, hard to read slides, broken links, slides that get cut off. When students ask questions she seldom answers and on often becomes quite defensive, feels attacked and threatens to drop people from class
Follow instructions and cite sources perfectly! Many mid term and final test questions were convoluted, grammatically incorrect and appeared more than once. Feedback was reserved for those with minimal ability and was given by her aides instead of her. I will avoid another class taught by her even though it was relatively easy; I ended up with a B.
Convoluted and inconsistent. Follow instructions exactly, cite your sources perfectly. Aides comment on student work, not the professor. Assignment content is not important just periods and commas in your citations.
I took her online class. BAD IDEA. Her notes have incomplete thoughts, get cut off and sometimes don't make any sense. The class is pretty much reading notes and doing small little assignments that take like 20 minutes. I just took her final, and there were questions on it that weren't on the study guide. Or at least I could not understand them!
Avoid her unless you absolutely need the class. She is really very rude, and talks to students in a very demeaning manner. She also acts like she is doing you a favor by teaching a class and will make you feel bad for asking questions. Her notes are inconsistent and she doesn't prepare people for her tests. Nothing would make me take her again.
I took the online class during the winter. The class was very organized and she showed you step by step how to do the assignments, all you had to do is was pretty much find a food or something from the activity and write 100 words min about it. Put in minimum work and you should get a passing grade like a B no problem.
I took her online class and it was very organized. If you study the lectures slides you can easily pass. She doesn't like nutritional medicine, so if you say it is helpful in ANY of the weekly assignments she will dock you points. Just saying that green tea is good and aspartame is bad got me a B+ instead of an A, so just agree with her.
I took her on-line course and followed her suggestions to the tee, did well in her class. I also did all the extra credit work. She likes quoting properly all your work, I thought she was helpful if you needed clarifying. She responded to all our questions fine on-line. A lot of time spent on the computer but worth the work.
She is a rude teacher. She doesn't seem unorganized and she is unclear with her requirements. I wanted to know what I did wrong on my activities, &she was SO rude. She told me why am I e-mailing her, requested me to not e-mail her. She said she's TOO busy to help me,but can help people&grade other papers. She made me feel incompetent.Don't take class
Before taking the class i made a point of reviewing comments on this site. I took the class becaus i realized the only negative comments were from students who didn't want to do the work. I can honestly say i applied myself in this class, didn't get the grade i had hoped but learned a great deal. Well organized, very fair. I received a B
Hated her from day one and stuck to that opinion throughout the course. Insane control freak who goes on and on with useless information. Rampant grammatical/spelling errors on exams, assignments and in lecture notes--inexcusable for a college professor. Not at any time did she make the material interesting. Kiss up, it's your only hope.
Took the online 8 week class. There is a lot of reading so it is a very time consuming course but most of the concepts are common sense. Exams are easy if you study (the questions are based on her powerpoints, not the book). As long as you follow the instructions on the weekly activities, you get full credit.
Follow directions well and you will do great! Loved her classes took Nutr 1 and later Nutr 7 online and both were fairly easy. She may come off strong and rude but not at all. Quiz every class on articles, and activities for the online course overall good. Plus she is kindda cute.
I love her classes. I had her for nutrition 1,5,7; Yes she is very intense but you actually learn something. So if you take her Pay Attention !
I took this class at SMC many years ago around 1994. I was an obese 20 year kid who weighed 235lbs. at 5'9. I am now a lean fighting machine, 5'10 160lbs. Cynthia helped me to turn my lifestyle around. I can't thank her enough. Her class is very straight forward if you are engaged and willing to try.
I took her online class. I passed it with a B. There was heavy extensive book use, but also make sure to read the Power Points. I had not enough interest in the class to really warrant any sort of negative or positive opinion. It was just sort of meh. She is very informative in regards to the topic and has some interesting interactive activities.
Very clear course. Activities are structured around an analysis of your present nutrition. Weekly participation required and heavy reading. Satisfying 8 week online course. Special SMC version of the textbook was recommended but online version with Nutrition Analysis Plus was sufficient since Dr. Gonzalez provided digital copies of the supplements.
She is a bit scattered and can be very confusing when she assigns assignments. I took her online summer class and it was very intense! you have to do all the assignments and read textbook! She is not very helpful and will gave you an attitude if you sent emails. Overall the class was enjoyable
If you follow her directions and do all the projects. You will do well in her class.
Gonzalez is very educated in the field, but taking her in-class made me feel like I was taking it online. Much of the work is online and all her assignments are submitted there, but the work is to be expected for a science class. Lots of memorization etc... She also keeps the information current and involved with up-to-date nutrition information!
Awesome professor, available for her students, just follow carefully the assignments due, and then the classes are great with excellent materials and opened speech about any nutrition questions that you might wondering.
One of the best teacher I had so far att SMC. Cynthia is very a very sweet and helpful professor. We had one mid term and one final. If you read the book and review some of her power points you will be good. She alao had a great mix of assignments during the semester such as a film review, a field trip and a putlock. Take her!
Awesome profesor. Always there for you.
One of the nicest professors and straight forward with her assignments. Keep up with the reading, follow P.P. notes you will do well. Quizzes, MT Final not too bad!
It takes her FOREVER to grade anything. She makes you buy and do this disgusting PWI project that is practically useless and time consuming a long with weekly ridiculous assignments that are meant to just kill time. Tests are fairly easy just read her notes and the book. I easily got an A but hated the PWI with a passion.
Great Teacher! Totally recommend her. She helps you through assignments, readings, and lectures. Do not miss a beat, because there is much reading. Tests are very passable--she provides the questions before exams--so study. If you don't take her, then you're missing out. Definitely would take her class again!
clear, long lectures but you learn a lot!
You will learn so much about cultures and their history (more than a history class), but don't worry, it is even more interesting because of its context. It is not the typical facts and dates. You will understand how cultures developed and why they became that way. There is a group project and it's fun. Everyone must contribute to the group somehow
Took professor Gonzalez for NUTR 3 - intro to dietetics. It was only 1 unit, so I thought a little bit of homework here and there nothing crazy. I was wrong. There was heaps of homework. Nothing to hard but just lots of it. She is clear about what she wants and when things are due. Overall I think she is a great teacher.
She wants things done a particular way. She is also confusing so these two things don't work well together. Graded assignments did not come back until the end of the semester. Personally, I was very stressed in this class. It's not difficult, but the expectations were very high, and feedback did not come in a timely manner.
Took her online half semester course. Fills the week with excessive busy-work. Does not grade large assignments in a timely manner, not allowing students to adjust their style to her very specific liking for the next large assignment. Incredibly frustrating.
She may have been one of the worst teachers I have taken at SMC. Her class was not clear, the class was not hard but her instructions suck. Her duedates for assignments are all over the place.
Rude. That was the first impression that she gave to the class. Rude for absolutely no reason. How she spoke to us felt very condescending, made it hard for me to even want to be in that class I regretted not dropping. Doesn't listen she has an "I'm right, you're wrong" mentality. Has lectures, quizzes, tests, reading. A lot to learn.
She is disorganized and honestly not a good teacher. I took her class online and I had to repeatedly ask her to upload the documents we needed for assignments because they weren't there. She expects you to finish large weighted projects in 2 days read 1-3 chapters a week. I had to drop the class bc she didnt upload docs for a large assignment.
She is a doable professor. She provides everything you need to know for her exams, in her detailed lectures. She makes minor typos in her lectures, and she is not clear about the project though. Exams are in a frustrating one question at a time and no back-tracking format. Do your homework, take good notes, and you should be fine.
She has no regard for student's comments or questions. Her tone is boarder line disrespectful and she overwhelms with homework, PPTs, and lectures that don't teach you anything that is on the exams. Such a disappointment.
The class is an easy A if you do all your readings, watch the videos and post your work on time.
She says it is our responsibility to make sure we do well and she's just responsible for the well being of the class overall. I do agree it is our responsibility to do well, however if students are having a difficult time doing well or if her coursework is unorganized, that's on her. Unwilling to cooperate/help her students at all. She doesn't care
Most confusing class I've ever taken. You won't know what to do. Starts with a syllabus that has an extra space between every letter added for style which makes it difficult to read and makes the hyperlinks invalid. Professor should be teaching grade school. Extra credit assignment is improperly weighted. Easy A but save yourself the headache.
She is strict and diligent. Be aware of her assignments and its structure, it gets confusing. She will NOT consider your work or grading part of it if it's not in her preferred format. Most of the stuff you read on the textbook is not even on the test. Get ready to be confused and read a ton (especially during Summer). Ask Q's and good luck!
Professor Gonzalez is absolutely horrible. I am taking her nutrition class online and it is an easy A online because you can look up all the answers while doing work, but her lectures are long and pointless and have so many grammatical errors/misspellings it changes the meaning of what shes saying. She never replies, is very prideful, overall bad.
Was very disappointed taking this course. It was very confusing and Prof Gonzalez did not explain anything clearly, nor make it seem like she cares about her students. It was easy to pass but VERY frustrating as she makes every conversation feel hostile. Please don't take this course
Do not take her. She is a horrible professor and is very rude. Does not give clear feedback.
Very unclear directions for assignments, confusing emails/guidelines, excessive communication (especially in the first few weeks). Complicated directions for simple tasks, unclear objectives for what programs/books to use for certain assignments, harsh grading criteria. One of the most confusing classes I've taken in 3 years at SMC.
When emailing to ask questions she would reply very condescendingly. The content is easy but sometimes time consuming. She was very rude and it seemed like she did not want to be teaching. It was a pretty easy A, so if you need the GPA boost and there's nobody else teaching then take this class.
Her class was like a Chemistry / Nutrition class how she had chemistry questions on her quizzes / tests. I put in way too much work to get a C which is the lowest grade you can get to pass the class. I probably studied an average 10-11 hours a week during the 8 week session class and barely passed with a 73%. Yet I gained a lot of knowledge.
Everything is online and you have to read through the syllabus to understand what assignments to do and by when to complete them. Usually 1 or 2 discussion posts per module. Gave 2 weeks to complete each module. Using the powerpoints and the quizzes are good practice for exams. 4 exams total and they are all 60+ questions and it is timed.
Confusing class, confusing emails, and she will not grade work or even consider giving you half credit if it is not in her preferred format. She gives you two weeks to do work, but the assignments are confusing.
She is unorganized, with confusing instructions, and assigns busy work with limited opportunity to learn. Talks about certain values/principles but does not follow them herself. You spend all semester on a project and receive absolutely zero feedback on it. She is unhelpful and clearly overwhelmed. Nonsensical grading rubric. Disappointing.
Dr. Gonzalez is a good professor; however, I was often overwhelmed with her grading criteria. Students have to follow VERY SPECIFIC instructions, or it is easy to lose points. Her instructions would be very long, so I got stressed thinking I would mess something up and lose points due to minor errors. Very reading/note heavy. Can be dry at times.
If you want to be confused all the time then take this class. Her class is an easy A but her assignments make no sense with confusing directions. Her instructions are weirdly specific and just makes the assignments harder than they have to be because you are wondering if you are doing it right. Discussion post criteria are rediculous.
There are constant announcements, all too long and complicated. She makes things harder to understand and seems angry. She constantly implies that students have user error and just aren't paying attention when in reality she seems to struggle with communication and explaining things in simple detail how you'd expect someone whose job is to teach.
avoid at all costs!!!! she's is the most disorganized and unprofessional teacher i have ever had! her instructions for assignments are unclear. she's so difficult to reach and if she does email you back, the email she sends you is probably gonna be illegible. only reason i passed the class was because of the TA. only pro is the quizzes are easy.
Pretty decent. The only issue I had was that there were some inconsistencies between the syllabus & canvas about due dates of assignments but other than that the class was easily manageable with her.
Extremely unorganized and unprofessional, neglects students by rarely emailing them back, she over complicates instructions and can be very rude and unhelpful.
I took this during a Winter term and the course was very easy with her. Her directions are very clear, if you follow them and do them on time then you are set for an A, but she is a little strict and hard to work with if you encounter any issues so beware of that. Long weekly discussions and an extra credit opportunity at the end of the term.
It's an easy class to pass on your own however, it's so much reading in this class and very lecture heavy with no videos because everything is on powerpoints. Easy class to pass though. Just make sure you turn all your work in on time and you will pass.
This professor is severely incompetent and unforgiving to students. She rarely responds to emails and has no ability to communicate properly with her students. It is an only online class and the professor isn't active in making sure her students are properly informed or instructed on the curriculum.
Quite frankly the worst Teacher I've ever had. Rude and Insensitive doesn't teach you anything herself. Obviously, everybody's experience will be different, but I'm a 4.0 student and have never had to drop a course, I just couldn't stand her.
This class requires a lot of independent learning, but unstuckstudy was a great study tool. The professor can be disorganized, but if you stay on top of assignments, it's a manageable course. The quizzes are easy, just be prepared to teach yourself.
Overall easy but workload can get heavy. Lots of readings. She overexplains instructions which can get confusing. Communication is difficult since she takes longer than stated time to respond. Takes a long time grading so make sure you're pulling your weight so you don't get stressed in the end trying to raise your final grade. Easy but unorganized
I took Dr. Gonzalez course in the Fall and she was great. Since I took the 16-week online course it meant that everything was asynchronous, but if you're self sufficient and independent you'll do great. Not many assignments or HW. There's 7 modules, one quiz per module and a test every 2 modules. Definitely Recommend!!
Would not recommend this professor.
It was clear that she would be strict and particular from the start. The instructions she provided were too extensive, and ended up being unclear and confusing. She wasn't approachable. I had reluctantly reached out regarding a quiz question that was incorrectly marked as wrong, and she refused to even look into it. She was dismissive and rude.
Her class was very confusing, her assignments were very confusing and complicated . Wouldn't recommend
Very confusing and strict. Seek other professors for Nutrition.
Prof. Gonzalez's class was very stressful for being a nutrition 1 course. The material is overcomplicated and guidelines must be followed to a T or else your grade will suffer (even if the guideline is confusing, there is no help. It's every man for themselves). Inflexible and not forgiving sadly.
I've never been so stressed taking a class before.. She gives a ton of instructions for assignments but it is in a way that it confuses us. Also, no make-ups or resubmissions. I got a lot of zeros on assignments and she wouldn't help me understand why sadly even though I was thorough and submitted everything on time. :(
If you try to fight for your grade, she makes you analyze your assignment and write line by line why you deserve a better grade. She's incredibly rude. Do not recommend.
Provides the textbook but is very particular when it comes to the weekly discussion posts. The instructions for most assignments are very wordy but still confusing. Just make sure to follow everything word-for-word because she is very strict on grading.
do not take this professor, she is the worst. None of her modules make sense so when you do something 'right' there will always be something wrong with it and she refuses to give partial credit, everything is either 100% correct or 0%. If you take this class expect to drop it, or be in a meeting with the campus ombudsperson. not a good experience.
