I had her for my fall semester and she was great. Very helpful and very nice but also fair. She really understands the subject and enjoys teaching it. If she taught more of these classes I would take another one.
She is a really great professor. She gives crystal clear instructions for each assignment. She is very clear on what she desires from students. She helps you gain a new prospective on society too. She is always available for tutoring and she tutored me in English even though she did not teach English.
She is a good teacher, but this is not an easy A!! You need to come to every class and have plenty of time to study for her class. She acts like her class is all you have in life. Too much stuff to do outside of class. Good but you have to work extra hard to get a good grade.
Good teacher but not easy. She makes you think. her test are hard and her paper she makes you write on a movie even harder. Service learning required and then you have to do a 10 minute seach
Everything about her class was in the syllabus which she went over in detail day one and kept saying to read it. She always offered tutoring and helped me for another class. I liked her professional clothes and those big bags I want.
Great professor. She does make you think, but she s also very helpful and gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit.
Ms.Holly was a great teaher, always came to class matching with her purses. When I took her, she made ppt that were pretty much straight from the test. The class isn't hard you just need to pay attention and listen. She is willing to tutor, only if your willing to learn. I thought she ws great
Mrs. Holly is a great teacher. She does make you think and participate in class, but it is beneficial. She may be strict in class, but outside of class she is very nice. Tests are mostly multiple choice and some short answer. The other thing I liked about her is that she is always finding ways for extra credit.
I loved her! She made this class so interesting. She was very organized and let the students know exactly what was expected for each assignment. This was no easy A, but she provided a lot of help and several opportunities for extra credit. I wish she taught more classes.
Take her!!! Even though she makes you think, you'll be a better person after you take her class. Just show up to class and ACTIVELY participate and read the material and you should do fine. Ms Holly also provides help as long as you are willing to learn, she will kick you out of her study sessions if you didn't read prior.
Mrs. Holly is absolutely wonderful! It's true that she'll make you work for an A, but she is very helpful. BE PREPARED. she does not accept late work and you will be called on in class. She really makes you think and makes class very enjoyable. I wish I could have her for all of my classes!
Mrs. Holly is one of the best teacher's I've ever had! She makes you think so much, but that's not exactly a bad thing. She's really helpful and has great lectures. Take her for Sociology!!
Super nice, but her class is very hard and a lot of work.
I was very disappointed. Heavy workload. Difficult Exams, each covering too much material with no options to scan through questions and not enough time given. Inappropriate professor email verbiage and etiquette. Unnecessary discussion post requirements. Extensive Service Learning Presentation (10 minutes) and lacks fun in learning.
I enjoyed taking Sociology. The class is challenging, but this is a college class. If you want to learn and get a good grade in her class, do what I did, what is expected of a college student: come to class, participate, follow course policies, and study. She is nice, fair, and simply wants you to learn.
I am use to doing well in classes without studying but this class was different. I had to read the textbook and do more thinking than what other classes require. This class was no easy A but it made me a better student. Mrs. Holly tutored me which really helped improve my grades on tests. She is really nice and advised me with my major.
She is a nice teacher and individual. She is firm because she cares. Her policies are reasonable and assignments are interesting. College was a joke to me, but she set me on the right path academically and career wise. Because of her, I attended all of my classes this semester and made the Honor Roll. I highly recommend her.
Mrs. Holly is way out of her league at Chat Tech. She should be teaching at a Major University with her knowledge and ethic. She is a genuinely good person and wants success for each of her students. She is firm but everything is explained through the syllabus and prior to drop/add. Just stay on track and attend class and you will do well.
Best teacher ever, she truly cares. She is relatable. She knows what you want to know about what. She even brought us breakfast a few times just to be nice. It is quite a bit of work but all you have to do is pay attention. It's not rocket science. It's a lot of common sense. Pay attention, study a little and get an A.
Just read the material and you'll be fine. She'd go out of her way to help her students. I can pretty much say she's the best teacher I've had. She knows her material and she really cares. She even asked some of the students to come and see her for private tutoring and its for free. She's simply the best!
She is an excellent individual. It's so easy to tell that she thoroughly knows the "sociology" she teaches. She is calm spirited and a sound motivator.
ITS NOT AN EASY A ClASS !!!!!! she is a great professor, she is really nice to everyone. The only problem is her tests !! hardest thing you ever will take. you will get below 40 and if your lucky you will get a 70.
I love the lectures, and all you have to do is show up to the class and listen. I didn't study at all and made an A. She gives significant opportunities to earn extra credit. She is very helpful. Gives plenty of opportunity for tutoring.
Really Great class. She has a deep understanding of the subject matter and her lectures are very engaging. Take notes on the power points and participate in class and you will do well. all the test questions come directly from the power point and the lecture.
You really have to listen, her voice is damaged. She's funny. Her test are hard. In class work every week, some home work, and a community service project for the final. five test worth 55% of your grade. At least shes open and Honest about what's on her test, she will tell you everything you won't have to guess.
She is very nice, approachable, and understanding. Just be serious and put in your best and you can easily make an A in her class. She is a role model and I love her.
Wow, so this teacher is amazing in person, I was online. Her online class took up more than my other 3 classes combined. I felt like the textbook was not aligned, or shall I say, " in depth" as she expected. The tests are very hard and so are the connect assignments. Wish I would have taken her class in person. Great teacher, in person.
Ms. Holly is not an option if you are planning to take an online class. She expects a long essay in her discussion board and deducts points for every minor error. Her exams are very tough, grading and announcement skills are poor. She will not inform you of the number of essays within a multiple choice exam. Please, avoid this online class.
This is the best instructor ever. You will pass if you are ready to learn and work. She is always there to help and will even offer extra time for tutoring. Make sure you attend class, don't use your phone and be attentive. You will definitely pass.
Prof Holly is my favorite professor. She treats you like an adult, and makes sure to provide every tool necessary to succeed in the class. She provides extra credit occasionally. She is very respectul of others' beliefs, and encourages you academically and personally. As long as you take notes on the powerpoint and pay attention, you'll get an A
She is very inspirational and truly loves what she does. I recommend her!
Ms. Holly is a great professor. She appreciates diversity, is very respectful, and knows her stuff. I recommend her.
I really, really enjoyed this class. Miss Holly is very firm yet very fair and caring. If you are the type of student who attends class, gives a good effort, and likes to learn, I recommend her.
Terrible online class. You don't have enough time to do her tests. Her test are VERY HARD I would not recommend her. The subjects she asked you to write about are so conterversial.
Ms. Holly was very knowledgeable and helpful. I just went to class, did the assignments on time, and passed with a good grade. I'd take her again.
She grades very hard. She does pop up assignments. If you miss her class it can affect you.
She is a great teacher. Just do the work, come to class, and you will earn an A.
She said topics that were real life in the discussion. She got you thinking of the world differently
I had Ms. Holly this semester. She is one of the best. In any class you must earn your grade; it is not given to you like a birthday present. Isn't that the purpose of college? If you want a caring, inspirational, and flexible professor, then Ms. Holly is definitely for you. I did the work, came to class, and earned a high grade.
I got an A in the class. It wasn't hard at all. She seems like a nice person. No complaints.
I took online and was struggling, I met with her and she explained everything. After that it was a breeze! If you take online and struggle with the first test then meet with her as soon as possible and you will be fine.
She is by far my favorite teacher ever! I learned so much about life in this class. Her lectures will stay with you through our life. She is a honest professor, and if you read your syllabus while attending class to take notes you should end the semester with an A!
She definately knows this subject well. However, she is extremely tough on grading and makes you do a ton of in class and home work. Had to do 20 hours of community service, write a project about it, then present it. Also had to write a 5 page paper about a movie. Donated can goods, kids books, and did extra service hours for extra credit.
I loved this class. I learned more than I expected to learn. Attendance is very, very important. I recommend her for sociology.
Ms. Holly either has too much on her plate, or does not know what is going on. Her blackboard assignment due dates, connect assignment due dates, and her syllabus assignment due dates never aligned. I had finished a connect assignment by the due date on syllabus. She said it was late. I had to email her, and she takes a long time to email back.
Don't takes her.
She definately knows this subject well. However, she is extremely tough on grading and she is very mean. Don't take her class.
Don't take her class. She is not nice at all. She doesn't know what she teaches.
Terrible online class. You don't have enough time to do her tests. Her test are VERY HARD I would not recommend her.
She was mean and unfair. She tough grader. Don't take her class.
She was the worst teacher I have in chattahoocheetech. Don't take her
Don't take her class. She was not good and not nice at all
Currently taking this class online. The class is SUPER EASY. Tests and assignments are a breeze. Problem is, when you submit something, it will take almost a month to get your grade back. That is a bit ridiculous to me. The content is interesting and passing is easy. Just, not a fan of the teacher. She takes too long to grade everything.
This professor is the best.
Mrs. Holly is an amzing professor. Yes, her class is not easy but its worth it. If you show up to class, TAKE NOTES, and READ/STUDY the PowerPoints she gives, i promise youll do fine. She is funny in her own way and gives help to students she knows is trying. Dont expect her to help if your not gonna do the work. You will work for your grade:)
Absolutely awful. I was really excited about learning sociology until Mrs. Holly ruined it. I took the class online and Mrs. Holly took 7 days to respond to my email. She was constantly rude to me and when I would have questions looked at me as if I was stupid for not understanding. The tests were completely different then material covered.
Ms Holly can be no nonsense at times, but overall is an excellent teacher who knows what she is talking about. She tells you how to succeed in her class, offers bonus points on every test and has ample office hours, and does tutoring. Not sure what else students could ask for.
Ms. Holly is very knowledgeable, organized, firm, and enthusiastic. Because she is firm yet caring, she is highly respected. I definitely recommend her for sociology. I learned a lot!
I took her online class and she was by far the worse teacher Ive had at CTC. Her tests were hard and she did not provide you with enough time to complete them. Requires 10 HOURS of community service to count for service learning grade. Unfair grader and very unfriendly. Syllabus and Blackboard due dates never matched. No extra credit available.
I enjoyed this class. She is very nice and willing to help you. There is a lot of reading but it is manageable. She will help you if you are willing to meet her half way which seems more than fair for a college class.
Very intelligent, cynical lady. All her tests revolve around knowing very specific concepts and people. Don't know everything about how Emilie Durkheim thinks? There goes 8 points on your test. She also uses her own opinions and ideas much more than the book's, which are no means bad, but it makes it hard to study for tests. Great class just tough
Online class. I was very indifferent to her. She grades easy on papers, tests were pretty difficult. Not too many assignments but lots of reading. You have to do community service in her class which is hard when you work full time and full time student, beware!
I ultimately dropped Miss Holly's class due to arrogant lectures about how her students learn the most because of her challenging teaching approach and her modest personality was the least of entertaining. Tests are based heavily on lecture notes and not text book material. Use another professor if you want higher than a B.
Very stubborn. Nothing you do is ever good enough, she'll always find errors in your work. Takes no criticism.
The courses were very lecture heavy and you are encouraged to speak up. Most of the course is presented in power-points; however, if you miss a lecture, you may find yourself missing out on an in class assignment or note she says *In Class* that will surely be on a test. Make sure to find a couple classmates you can share notes with just in case!!
Will not respond to your emails or answer any of your questions. Subtracted 40 points from my community service because she responded to 2 of my emails 2 weeks late. Online class only, tests were based off of her lectures (which online students don't get). Hard to pass when she doesn't teach. Deadlines do not match up with syllabus either. Beware.
Easy if you do the work. I took the class online and (even with missing the last test.. oops) received an A. BEWARE you must complete 10 hours of community service to create a presentation for her class. This sounds like a lot, but it really wasn't bad.
She is a good teacher and makes you work hard for your work. She gives you chances for extra credit, which is good! Yes, you do have to do a presentation about your volunteer service, but it is just for her and for only 5 minutes! I still recommend her.
This instructor does the absolute minimum while expecting the maximum from her students. She requires you to write a 3-page essay, volunteer for 10+ hours, and give a presentation in lieu of a final exam. She has not taught a single thing the whole semester, every bit of info I know has come from the textbook and few-year-old powerpoints.
The test and the in-class assignments are the most important to passing.
Professor Holly is great. She ended up giving me a recommendation for university like seven years ago. I remember one thing about her -- she is NO BUL1SH!T Come to class prepared, be ready to participate, and do your best. If she sees that you're trying, you'll have no problem. Ignore these other folks posting about her "doing absolute minimum."
Ms. Holly is a very experienced, articulate, and inspirational professional. I've learned a lot about sociology though it is not my desired profession. She goes the extra mile for every student. Highly recommend
Mrs. Holly is a great professor. You have to work for your A, but it is possible. She offers tutor, and the extra time you spend with her tutoring really helps. We had a chance to get extra credit! Make sure you follow all instructions on every assignment and extra credit she gives you. I really enjoyed this class.
Horrible. Pick a different instructor for Sociology. By far the worst instructor Ive ever taken. Shes not a far grader. She accepts absolutely no late work. Shes biased on her tests.
MRS Holly wants all her students to pass. She does not tolerate any slackness and she is very helpful. If you simply follow the rules, pay attention, go for tutoring, and do your work, you will pass. Miss Holly rocks!
Lecture heavy, tests bi-weekly (summer). There are in-class assignments on random days (cannot make up). Lots of class participation (you will get called on!) Enjoyed the course and learned a lot. She wants you to be successful and gives easy extra credit! She will have you thinking outside the box! Would recommend her. Challenging but interesting!
If I could, I would take her class again! She is very in tune with the class, and with what shes teaching so it makes it easier to learn when the professor is passionate. She also tells it like it is so if you cant take constructive criticism she may not be the right pick for you. But I absolutely LOVED the class!
Judge not, or you too will be judged! For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged! Mrs. Holly is as sensible and real as a teacher could be currently in this society! Leave your spoon fed feelings and opinions at the door. Enter with ears to hear and a fresh mind to absorb the information given. Don't change for anyone Mrs. Holly!
Pick a different online professor! Not online, community volunteer service requirement that will drop your grade from A to D if not done. Son lost Hope b/c had to drop, and all real online professors for this section that do not have the same requirement were closed. :( Should be reworded: partial online, so working people can register correctly.
I recommened to NOT TAKE this professor for an online class. I think she's a good teacher but not for online. Tests are VERY difficult and I never did good on any of them even though I'm passing with an A. Answers emails fast. Lots of reading but not bad if you prioritze. TONS to study for the 5 tests through the semester.
She was not very helpful. Very bland, boring and straight to the point. She was not the best to call on for help, especially during the Covid crisis. It was not an easy course, if help is ever needed, you better find alternative sources. What you get is what you get.
Professor Holly was amazing in my opinion. She is very clear on what is expected and when things are due. And she is always happy to help anyone who needs it, if you're struggling she always has tips and resources to help you. But as she said, "I can't help you if you don't ask". She won't judge or be unfair if you need help, you just have to ask.
She is fair if you do your work. Lots of reading and tests are somewhat difficult. Tests are multiple choice, but she will throw in a few questions you must answer in paragraph form. Volunteer work is REQUIRED in her course, you will fail if not done! She also assigns an essay based on a movie of her choice. Lots of Discussion Boards to write!
I really love her because she really knows how to lecture. Shes very straightforward and if you dont do good that is your fault. I wish I would have taken more time on her quizzes because thats where most of the grades are. Do her extra credit. And do good on the essays and you should be fine she is without a doubt one of the best speakers
THE MOST INCONSIDERATE PROFESSOR DURING THE COVID CRISIS. ORIGINALLY STATED THAT SHE WOULD PROVIDE EXTRA CREDIT AT THE END OF SEMESTER AND WAS NONCHALANT ABOUT IT DURING COVID TIMES. SHE MAKES IT SEEM AS IF YOU'RE ATTENDING HARVARD UNIVERSITY! WORDING ON TEST WILL HAVE YOU CONFUSED AND TRIPLE QUESTION YOURSELF .
Her tests are not all multiple choice, some answers require paragraphs. There is a lot of work that comes with the class, so you need to put in the work. If you are taking more than 3 classes, take someone else. I dont recommend her for online. I would have ended with a B in her class if it wasn't due to the pandemic and personal issues.
For an introduction Sociology this class was hard for no reason at all. The exams feel like riddles and you are not given any material to breakdown for the paragraph portion on exams. She uses the lockdown browser so no notes or book at all. many questions make you 2nd, 3rd & 4th guess yourself because all the answers can fit. Takes long to grade.
Lectures require notes, and she grades them via email. Not blackboard so thats one issue. Lectures are long and confusing in my opinion. Lots of long examples that you forget what the topic is. Lockdown browser test which are extremely difficult. I had to withdrew because I was not going to pass this class.
I strongly disliked this class and the instructor.
I would never take this class again. Holly graded your paper with no care if you passed or failed. She makes your page light up like a Christmas Tree. Lectures are 2+ hours long, it is mandatory in order to-do notes. You can't half butt do notes, she reads every bit. If you didn't write something she said that is 20 points off easy. STEER CLEAR!!!
You will pass if you are willing to do work. It seems like a lot but I really only spent a few hours a week on this class. The course criteria itself was the most difficult part of the class for me but her teaching style made things easier to understand. She wants to see you pass her class and she will help you so long as you're doing your part.
This class was a ton of fun and incredibly informative. If you put in a few hours a week of studying, you will pass this class! Mrs. Holly is passionate about teaching and she WANTS you to pass this class. I loved it!
Mrs. Holly is a sweet lady. You have to be willing to give time outside of your course for this class. Her class can be fun. Attendance is mandatory though. On tests, she may include stuff she said while in class. She gives tutoring sessions before each test just ask about it. 5 tests total and the final exam on the same week as last test
Mrs. Holly was extremely kind and genuinely wanted everyone to succeed. While coming to class was not necessarily a graded requirement, she often said things in her lectures that came up on exams outside of her PPT slides. 5 exams, a midterm paper, and the final determine your grade. You do need to spend sometime outside of class studying. Easy A.
was not open to anything. extremely difficult.
So for starters she is a good professor don't get me wrong however when it comes to assignments she does not care as much as she may portray. If you cant remember something she makes it a point to let you know that she told you in class and wants you to email everything no drop box. She is very argumentative. Be mindful of what you sign up for.
This class can be tough at times but Mrs. Holly makes it very clear about what you need to study and makes her lectures very fun/interesting! The most important thing you can do to pass is pay attention and take notes during her lectures and study them for tests! Be prepared to learn about social issues/sensitive topics and go in with an open mind.
I can tell she doesn't have any malicious intentions...but there was a project where she told us we had to do 8 hours of community service. Did the project and turned in my hours to her just to be told that the organization I volunteered for wasn't valid and she gave me a failing grade. That was crazy to me. She's also very emotional so beware.
Where to start; By week 8, she had been reported to the dean five times by a number of students for everything ranging from racism to inappropriate comments about students who were on the autism spectrum. There were several reports sent to the faculty about Article 9 violations. and if you're part of the lgbtq+ group ether a DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
I like Mrs. Holly. I would love to take her class again this semester.
Overall, Mrs. Holly was an okay professor. Her lectures were heavy and made me sleepy. She also tends to get off track sometimes by telling personal experience stories. Assignments weren't hard at all (use Quizlet) but you HAVE to study for her exams or else you will fail. I liked her but everyone's experience is always different.
Did not know how to use blackboard, the platform used for the class. Did not understand that virtual lectures do not mean a 30 minute ramble that does not help with the upcoming test. Often related things in the class to racism which made sense during the unit about racism but did not apply to any extent like in the unit about marriage
Mrs. Holly is truly one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is so knowledgeable; you will learn a lot. She is firm but fair. So inspirational and caring. She is the exact example of how a teacher should be. If you are here to learn and willing to be open-minded about things, I 100% recommend you take this class.
An amazing professor! Everything that was in the PowerPoints was on each and every test. The test had some written responses but as long as you attend class and study the PowerPoint you'll do amazing. Her teaching style is amazing.
Mrs. Holly is the best. As long as you come to class and pay attention you will pass. Firm but kind, cares very much about her students. Easily accessible if you need help, and very kind when explaining things. VERY knowledgeable. Overall best professor I've had the honor of working with. Being respectful in class taken very seriously. Loved her
Professor Holly is a wonderful teacher and has a great sense of making the classroom feel safe. She goes over a lot of things before the test, but you will definitely need to study outside of class and do some extra work. She tends to not give study guides or let us know what exactly is on the test but other than that she is great. I ended with 95%
She is a communist. I'm serious. Her lectures are her ranting for an hour and she barely covers the subjects. She rants about racism in chapters that have nothing to do with that. She makes her opinions very known and typically they are offensive. She shares her opinion on any religion, sexuality, race, or political side which feels inappropriate.
She is incredibly emotional, gives her personal political opinions which I think is unprofessional. I had to contact her dean about her bullying/belittling me in front of my class only for her to jump on the email thread to double down on her behavior. The worst teacher I have ever encountered in any school I have ever attended.
This professor was very aggressive when it came to her beliefs. Her lectures oftentimes did not cover course material and were unnecessarily long. The tests required respondus lockdown and if you did so much as move she said she'd fail you. Her tests were extremely difficult. This stuff needs to come natural to you or you'll barely suffice.
Mrs. Holly is an engaging professor, but her class can be hit-or-miss. Lectures are thought-provoking but sometimes veer off-topic. Exams are tough - study the material and use tools like unstuck study to prepare. Overall, an interesting class if you're willing to put in the work.
Miss Holly is passionate about sociology, but her focus on gender and political beliefs often overshadows open discussion. If you don't know something, she can make you feel singled out rather than encouraged to learn. The class would be better with a more balanced approach that welcomes different perspectives instead of pushing one viewpoint.
She's a great teacher but lets emotions and personal beliefs interfere too much. She often brings up racism off-topic & forces debates on controversial issues. Tests are on a lockdown browser with no study guides, and she watches the whole time. I agree with her views but wish she focused more on teaching than opinions. I got a 95%, but struggled.
Talk about a mean professor. She is very rude in her emails. She also has a whole lecture about asking for help and how that's an okay thing to do in life, but when I emailed asking for help, she totally dismissed me lol. She is a tough grader, and overall, I do not recommend her.
Professor Holly is a very unique and amazing person. My favorite trait about her is how free her spirit is. Professor Holly expresses her opinions properly educated and meaningful. This class was very fun and gave us a right to be open minded.
This professor constantly calls on students, pressures them to answer, and gets offended if they're wrong. She seems to enjoy embarrassing people. Honestly, the biggest issue is her attitude. She's made this class extremely stressful. I came to community college to learn, take notes, and pass, not to be constantly put on the spot and humiliated.
Professor Holly is a remarkable teacher who is invested to educating all students. Don't be fooled by the her ratings they don't speak of her teaching but students beliefs. She a phenomenal teacher who provides tutoring and respect. She helps and encourages opinions even those who don't agree are given the space to speak which helps us all learn.
Okay so I honestly she seems all mean and scary but she is really nice and wants to help, she offers tutoring if needed and tends to ramble on. But if you pay attention you should be fine. She gives tough tests but overall not a bad teacher.
Best professor I've ever had! Such a nice and caring lady who genuinely cares about her students and wants you to do well. The people that don't do well, are most likely not doing their part in studying or listening to lectures. Not a hard class to pass what so ever. Although the tests are quite lengthy and a bit challenging. Highly recommend!!
I was personally not a fan of Ms. Holly. in a way where there is no hate, I would just never take this class again, it was a lot, and very stressful, in fact so stressful I fear I was unable to learn anything, my only care was passing. granted, she answered online quickly, and she seems to be a nice person, just a tough teacher, some tough tests :(
Very opinionated, speaks more of her opinions than of actual facts of the class itself. Lectures are very hard to listen to with how opinionated she is. If you don't watch the lectures you will fail the class.
The only reason I didn't get a higher grade was because of my own personal issues. A great and easy class as long as you show up, take notes, and study.
Ms. Holly was an amazing professor. If you are taking this class, make sure to turn everything in by the due date, listen to the lectures!!!, she was very helpful when I needed tutoring. I would 100% take this class again.
She is a wonderful professor. So happy I took her!
Ms. Holly is the best. I wish I could take her for other classes. She's organized and always ready to help. I learned a lot!
I enjoyed this class. Tests and other assignments are not too difficult. Make sure you attend class on regular basis. She is very approachable and willing to help.Take her for sociology!
