Excellent Professor, explains a very difficult subject with clarity and is very willing to spend class time reviewing a difficult to grasp area. Exams are very straight-forward, she puts exactly what she says on her exams.
Smart lady but not a good teacher. She skips the small stuff and does not go along with the book.
Shes very cool. Great teacher, very clear. Shes funny also... good class
I took Mrs. Judd for Chemistry, I came into the class not knowing anything at all about the subject and I ended up learning more in her class than any other chemistry class I have taken. She explained things very clearly and percise. Her test pertained to exactly what we did in class.
I love Mrs Judd, i think she is an excellent teacher, that will go out of her way to help anyone. The only problem is her tests are very hard! Do as much practice as possible!
I loved the class she gives practice sets forthe exams, which will help you a lot becasue the exams are a little hard, dont buy the book if you take her you wont use it at all
Class gets harder as it goes, but Ms Judd is very helpfull, and as long as you study you'll be ok
I have spent so much time this semester teaching myself because she offers terrible explainations if any at all. She is consistently late for class and her grading scale doesn't leave much room for mistakes. I do not reccomend her at all.
Ms. Judd is a relatively good teacher. She especially likes making lists of everything and tends to compare chem problems to food. You don't need the book. She offers practice sets for each test and reviews before the tests. The third test is real difficult.
Really nice lady and tries to help her students, but the tests are ridiculous. I don't think there was an A in the class. There were people in there from different colleges/universities and they were still confused.
she teaches simple things from the test book and ask rediqules questions. Her questions not from the text book.I never reccomend her
She is absolutely the worse teacher I ever had, she doesn't want work, but has some nice legs to watch.
I think she is a very good teacher but dont expect an easy A. I would recommend taking her if you need to know chemisty for your major. If you are just taking the class for AA requirements you might want to take someone else because her class is very hard. If you really want to learn chemistry take her.
Let's get thing straight. Prof Judd knows her Chemistry. But unfortunately she thinks all of her students all Chemistry Majors or something. Her test are so hard and she gives no HMWK or assignments. Just 4 tests that's it! She expect way too much, she makes the tests 20X harder than whats in your notes. She really makes chm awfully painful.
REALLY NICE LADY....HELPFUL IF YOU GO TALK TO HER.... KNOWS A LOT OF CHEMISTRY.... HOWEVER, TESTS ARE REALLY HARD.... I HAVE A GOOD GRADE IN THE CLASS, BUT OUT OF PURE LUCK... HER TESTS QUESTIONS ARE 10X TIMES HARDER THAN WHAT SHE TEACHES IN CLASS.... IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A STRONG CHEMISTRY BACKGROUND DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ORGANIC!
She looks like a good teacher when lecturing; however, her exams are very hard and long. Most of the time, students don't get to finish them. If you are working and taking other classes, DO NOT TAKE HER. If you want to prove uorself smart, go ahead and take her.
She is a WITCH. My friend who is a straight A student and who works and studies extremely hard got a D in her class because she is so MEAN. Her tests are from HELL. If You want to learn and also get a good grade take this class somewhere else.
She gives practices sets, make sure that you practice them! Her exams are identical to the lecture and practice sets. Exam 1 and 2 are easy. Make sure that you study extra extra hard for exam 3 because its super long and hard. Overall, shes a good professor!
Tests are very inconsistent
She always comes into class with a sarcastic smile on her face. Grrrr lol. If you get an 89.9 she will give you a B. Her 1st 2 tests are straightfoward, but test 3 and 4 are time consuming and tricky. She does not like giving A's and is not a friendly person
She tends to be very unclear..doesn't explain things well at all!!! Don't waste your money!! Take another teacher
The only way you will pass her class is if you took it over or are gifted with chemistry. Otherwise you will fail it. It you are clueless about organic don't take her.Another advice don't take her class with other courses, you will fail!
very hard. not worth taking, the tests that are given rarely reflect what she teaches. Sometimes I think she puts random questions on the test.
don't take her very hard 80% of class withdrew and half of them were retaking her because they failed the first time. tests are hard to study for because there are not enough examples.
tests not related to lecture
She explained things in such a basic way, it was impossible to be able to follow along. As well as she made it funny..
Ms Judd takes a pleasure in knowing that she tricks her students. She answers a question with another. She expects u to know everything. Everyday she comes to class with that look... If you do not already have a chemistry degree, avoid her!!!
She was awesome. I took her for a summer class. Her tests were hard. If there is an SI with the class i strongly reccommend you go. She is very clear as to what will be on the tests and she will go out of her way to help you understand. I am going to take her again and i would recommend her to anyone who is interested in chemistry. I got an A.
She is a good teacher, gives 7 quizzes and you can drop the lowest. Her tests are straight from her notes and fairly easy. I have heard her CHM 1046 is awful and extremely hard! But so far shes not so bad
Worst Teacher Ever.. Avoid at all costs. I think she views the students as enemies. I would recommend taking someone else.
Don't take her! Very hard class. There are 11 quizzes, 5 tests. She drops the lowest test and quiz though. Just go look @ her ratings from the Lake Worth campus! Save urself and don't take!
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE HER FOR CHM1046. I am an A student....and I was failing. THere were only 8 students left in her class even before the last day to withdraw. I ended up withdrawing. You'll be saving your time by NOT taking her. so please, spare yourself the pain.
SOO DIFFICULT!!! 5 TESTS, 11 QUIZZES. BASICALLY A QUIZ EVERY CLASS. SHE DOES NOT GO OVER THE TEST, AND THE TESTS ARE THE WORST! BE SMART AND DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU ARE A HARDWORKING STUDENT AND ARE WILLING TO PUT HOURS AND HOURS OF STUDYING INTO THIS CLASS!
I can see where some students might get frustrated with Prof Judd's teaching style. She is a little disorganized (something she admits), but more than willing to help if you have any questions about the material. I really enjoyed her class and definately learned a lot.
She is one of the professors who does not like her job. I believe she is a real expert in her field and she knows it all, but she does not like going back down there with those who are learning from the very beginning. I am a straight A's science student and I had to withdraw her class, otherwise I would probably end up with C.
This "teacher" does not deserve to be called teacher. She herself at times has problems correcting an exercise and worste she does it wrong in front of her students but she is too proud to admit it. As an unqualified teacher , she compensate for her lack of knowledge by making it harder for her students. Don't waste time with her!
This class is tough, but if you study and ask questions you'll be fine. She gives you all of the info you need for tests and drops the lowest grade. Get the optional study guide to go with the book. It really helps!
Do not take this women. Doesn't care about anyone!!!

Good Teacher, if you are one of those students who go to all classes, pay attention, in other words if you are interested in learning she will help you a lot!! But remember that chemistry is not an easy subject and only hard working students will pass!
*DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES.* SHE IS A DISSERVICE TO THE TEACHING COMMUNITY. HER AIM IS TO WEED OUT STUDENTS. SHE NEEDS TO REALIZE SHE'S A CC TEACHER NOT A RESPECTED RESEARCHER. IF SHE CAN & IF YOU LET HER SHE WILL DESTROY YOUR DREAMS AND THAT'S HER GOAL B/C HERS' WERE NEVER FULLFILLED. SHE'S MEAN, HATEFUL, VENGEFUL, & EVIL. DON'T TRUST HER!
*DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES.* SHE IS A DISSERVICE TO THE TEACHING COMMUNITY. HER AIM IS TO WEED OUT STUDENTS. SHE NEEDS TO REALIZE SHE'S A CC TEACHER NOT A RESPECTED RESEARCHER. After reading some of the reviews, I was reluctant to take her, but had no choice. I'm glad I did. This is a hard subject, but prof. Judd is willing to help if you have questions. If an SI is assigned to your class, try to go to the sessions. They are very helpful and since they have taken the class, can give you hints and tips to pass.
The other reviews are accurate. Her tests are impossible. She feels accomplished when students fail, withdraw, or audit. Only about 5 out of 35 students pass.
Prof. Judd was helpful, she answered questions in class and has office hours available. The SI for the class was invaluable. You just have to study hard. Although the reviews were not so good when I choose the class I have no regrets.
Professor Judd is a nice person and everything but she seems to assume that everyone already knows chemistry when she teaches. Hard class, chemistry isn't my thing anyway-but it would have helped to have someone teaching me better...but do the practice sets for extra credit on tests to help.
Had her for organic CHemistry. There was student in my class who dropped out of her class because he had below a 70 average going into the final. This student scored a 99 percentile on the chemistry portion of the PCAT and a 99 percentile composite score. This says a lot about her teaching.
I took her in 2005 and her class smashed my dreams briefly! I now have a BS in bio and a minor in chemistry so I've taken lots of chem courses. I would NEVER recommend her to a student!Even now I still wouldn't take her. I still try to figure out where she got her exams from b/c it was nothing like the material she gave in class!!
Judd is a sweet lady, she is not trying to ruin anyones lives. I have to study for my grades and I am doing pretty well. It's like math you have to work at it. If you are looking for an easy A this is not it but if you're not an idiot you wont get lower then a C.
despite what everybody says i think shes a pretty good teacher. all her work is straight forward, her tests come straight from the notes so no surprises, your grade is made from 7 quizes and she drops the lowest.she is not a hard teacher, chemistry is a hard subject so u have to pay attention and not miss class. Oya i didnt open the book once!
I think she deserves a break, Chemistry is hard, and if you think you'll pass without any effort you are WRONG, however, if you are willing to put the time in the I don't see how you could fail her class. She provides some great extra credit work that will help alot, and drops your lowest test score and quiz score.
judd is great for CHM1045. other than that, she is useless. she answers your questions with a question. she likes to weed out her students as she says. don't take her for chem1046 and don't take her for Organic Chem. at the end of the term only about 5-8 students are left, and they all have C's or they fail. she takes pride in failing her students
I really enjoyed Mrs.Judd. She gives 11 quizes and 4 Test. She will drop the lowest grade. She offers a practice test to do and hand in at test time. So If you don't score above 75 You have a chance to up your test grade to a 75. But her test are difficult! You cannot predict what she is going to ask. Over all I think she's a very good instructor.
Fast paced class, read before class, use lab, go to office hrs. NOT for Chemistry beginners- year of high shool honors chem previously at least. Get Professor Gary or Betty to help! Plan on some serious studying and make sure to READ before every lecture or you attend. Sarcastic sense of humor, cares, will help you.
Great teacher! If you stay on the ball in the class and use the book at least SOME of the time, its easy
JUDD IS A FAIR TEACHER. YOU CAN GO TO THE LIBRARY AND GET HER STUDY SHEETS AND THEY WIILL HELP YOU PASS EVERY TEST. THE CLASS WAS FAST PACED BUT, YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY STUDY. I ENJOYED HER A LOT, I WOULD TELL ANYONE TO TAKE HER.
I took her for intro to chem and thought it was tough. She is picky and tries to trick you on tests. Only grades are quiz grades. Not a fan.
She is just not a teacher. She came from an Chem Industrial setting. She just can't lower her teaching level down to an Org chem 1 class. As of this semester its just 7quizzes and one gets dropped. The first 3 quizzes were ok, after that everyone fails. her homework is bad too, and if you ask her anything, she looks at you like your'e dumb.
Judd is a pretty good teacher. She teaches a new subject just about everyday. Considering I had no backgroung in chemistry, the class was ok.
1045 w/ Judd was managable with a firm history in high school chem. But, in 1046 I was really dissapointed when I came in a few times in office hours and I waited 45 minutes for LITERALLY 5 minutes of help! Plus: Good prep for MCAT, PCAT, 1 dropped test grade; Minus: Weird sense of humor, Tests solely notes, FAST!, dummy looks when you do badly.
She will find something wrong with a completely right answer, just if you didn't do it her way. She makes things over complicated and uses weird comparisons. If you are not good in chem, you will get frustrated with her teaching methods. But if you like chem, like me, its sort of a challenge. At least her class is not boring.
She is one of the teachers that will chanlenge you in class, she is a real prick on significat figures. If you need to understand CHM for you major then you should take her because you will learn the material if you try. Do all of the practice tests and you will make at least a C
The worst teacher ever, very unorganized, I dont know were the hell she got her exams from b/c it was nothing like the material she gave in class! She loves tricking you and she answer your question with another. Very sarcastic,do not waste your time, TAKE ANOTHER TEACHER.
It was a dumb class really. She taught and made it seem like the material was dirt wasy, but her tests were really difficult. I'm pretty sure no one in my class got an A. And the extra credit is bull because all it does is give you a better chance at a C. There's almost no way to make an A and hard to make a B.
Hard class. I struggled to earn a B. Very smart teacher. Class attendance is very important. Extra credit offered.
She's a very nice person, but her teaching method is a little confusing. I struggled and only got a C, however I had other distractions. If you ever need help,e-mail her and she'll give a run down that will help you. Just study and there's now way to fail.Ignore the idiots who say she's mean.
this teacher is okay. i passed with an c. i did extra credit and studied hard. she is willing to help u after class. i never liked chm but i was very happy with my c. i earned it
I used to HATE CHM in highschool, but after this class i think i kinda like it... We didn't really used the book. Is pretty easy when you attend class and study a lil bit. If you pay close attention to the class, the studying part is not to BIG of a deal.
If you took 1025 w/ her & understood what was going on 1045 is kinda the same it just go a lil more in depth on the why's sertain stuff happen.
This class is sooo HARD nothing to do with 1025 or 1045 :S ... i'm completelly lost... when you think you are getting it something new comes up and it just makes you more confused.

One wrod describes her, she is a true CMF
Instructor Cynthia Judd. I believe is quite stressed out with the class workload, she was having when I took CHM1020 she was awesome at the beginning, but then stressed out. she needs a HUG!! and a vacation.
Doesn't like for you to ask question and rather just teach also doesn't like to repeat any part of her lecture. Doesn't explain the material well enough to study from; suggest you mainly learn from a tutor in the lab plus the text book.
She's nice, but not a very good teacher! I took her for chem 1045 and got a c, but dont take her for chm1046. She's confusing and makes mistakes constantly. You must do extra credit to pass and study hard!
Organic Chemistry is hard. If you are an A student, take her class, I will only have one advice: Study really hard!!
well, 2211, not a boring class, find a reason to be happy about taking organic, especially if you plan on taking PCAT, or other standardized test, take her
She knows mechanisms very well...in order to be prepared for majoring in chemistry... take her..
at the beginning it started a little bit as difficult but invest time in it, it'll be fine
Excellent professor if you know chemistry or have the inclination for. Difficult testing, low grades.
Very HARD. She is a good teacher , but the SI sessions were scheduled for a time very inconvient, goes fast if you do not understand. IT IS A LOT OF STOCIOMETRY!! Be prepared and study hard. You have to pay to copy her reviews in which allows you a 5 point extra credit or a C which ever comes first. Have to attend every class...
She is a good professor that really knows her stuff. I like her teaching style. I got a C in the class but thats because chemistry is SO hard! I would of failed if I didn't take her.
I took CHM1025 and CHM1045 with her. Yes, it's hard, but it's CHEMISTRY! You don't really use the book, it's mostly for a personal reference if you want it. Study your notes and you will pass. If I can get a B in both of these classes then an A is certainly attainable for everyone else.
horrible teacher. she is very sarcastic and loves to show off in class like anybody really cares, were hear to learn not see how good you are at chemistry. when I would ask a question in class she would just look at me like, "really your asking a question." horrible teacher I would never tell anyone to ever take her.
Not many pple like her but its just better 2judge 4 uself. She IS helpful & is always willing to spend xtra time in & after class to make sure u understand the material. I personally LOVE her grading policy. has 7 tests, drops 1, each out of 25pts-any grade under 19 gets extra credit. Super easy teacher, took her for CHM1, 2, and now orgo lec & lab
Covers a lot of material, but she very organized and the tests are 100% from the notes. Didn't need or use the $180 book. Would have liked handouts or web links to learn and or practice some topics/problems. I would take again, but just know that 60% of the class was gone by finals. Tests could have been easier, or graded with more leniency.
hard to understand unless you know whta you are doing. she does not like people asking too many questions, if you do, she will make faces and will answer you as if you are a chemist. grading is horrible. confusing. not recommended unless you know what you are doing
She is a hard and strict teacher. Do not take her if you want an A. No matter how hard you study or how much you know, you will not get an A in the course. Do not ask her question(s), she'll answers it with a nasty look to make you feel bad and stupid. Grading is very confusing. Never get full credit for answering the free response questions.
Took her with Gen Chem 1 and Orgo Chem 1, very tough classes. Her powerpoint notes are pretty organized but she didn't give enough examples to help us understand. Her tests are straight from the notes but she likes to make it hard. Wish she had practice tests in Orgo like she did in Gen.
Please believe me. This lady is not easy. She is one of those professors that teach & forget that the student does not already know the information. Her notes are in short hand & she is so all over the textbook she actually goes into org.II. She is also short tempered. If you have her make sure you have a lot of time for independent studying.
Prof Judd is very smart, and her overall teaching style is understandable. But you will need extra help (not enough examples, perhaps b/c they take so long to do) You will not use the book, it is all slides. She will answer any questions, her tests are multiple choice and then 3-4 HARD problems. Study Sudy STUDY!
she isnt very clear. nor does she explain her information very well. Easy to get a C. Work hard and an A or B is completly possilble. I would take her again but make sure I got extra help.
WORST TEACHER EVERRR!!! DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH, BADGERS HER STUDENTS, AND IS MISERABLE. IF YOU HATE TEAHCING THAT MUCH THEN QUIT LADY!!!!!!!!!!
Took her for Chm 1045 (General 1). I had absolutely no prior knowledge of chemistry. She is BY FAR the best chemistry teacher in the department at Palm Beach State. However, she is not easy. I studied my butt off and got a B+, but you have to literally study 24/7. She is really helpful though and does want you to pass. I'm taking her for 1046 now.
Chemistry is not easy & you generally don't find teachers who are good at teaching it. Prof. Judd does an awesome job teaching one of the harder subjects. Gives examples, slides, allows for review time & is extremely helpful. You have to work for your grade but I would def recommend her to anyone!!
Organic Chem is not a easy class and prof judd is not a easy professor. She want you not just to memorized the material but actually learn and understand it. So if you are going to take this class you have to work and study hard to earn your grade. She is an awesome professor but her test/quiz are no joke.
I had read all of these reviews before I started her class, trying to go in with an open mind. However, I dropped her class as soon as all of the reviews on here became true. I must agree she is a HORRIBLE TEACHER! (strict and unfair to the point of absurdity)
Why this B.... still teaching Ihave no idea get rid of her she is horrible rude and has no mercy for the student
The worst teacher (if you can call her that) ever. I had a 4.0, but this lady is next to useless if you ask for help, and is never in her office. If you take this class, you most likely will be trying to teach yourself the subject. Her test do not even come close to reflecting the material that is SHOWN (not taught) to you in class.
Amazing teacher! Does a great job. 7 tests, 1 gets dropped except for the 7th which woont be dropped but is the easiest of all. Take her for Chem and you can't fail.
The structure of her class is abysmal. We don't use the textbook at all and instead, we are given homework assignments that she has created herself. There aren't enough examples in our lectures of the material in the homework. She is rarely ever in her office and does not always reply to emails. It was nearly impossible to seek guidance.
Judd def. is one tough cookie! but I would rather take her & learn something then slug through busy work for an easy A. Teaches everything on the PCAT/MCAT!! Allows extra credit on quizzes so you can't fail! Grades everyone fair! Mostly short test, Always willing to help after or before class..Have taken her for 2 classes going on 3! Take Judd!
Judd is a tough teacher. What makes her tough is her grading style. She teaches the information, and expects you to recall the information the way she wants it recalled. She is a great teacher who explains everything very well. You do not need to buy her book, everything is note based. Do the practice problems and show your work.
Judd is awesome, she is simplistic and easy to understand. Very straight forward in what she expects you to know. Do your practice sets and you'll be fine on the test.
Judd simply knows her stuff, wish I had taken her for 1045. Do not take her unless you 100% understand 1045 and have time to study...her test do test for mastery and her grading is fair.
I have taken judd for 1045 and 1046. She is a good teacher with a good teaching style. She gives you practice problems to learn with; moreover, she she gives you some of the answers as examples. Chemistry is a hard subject by nature. If you put the time in and work hard in her class, you will at least make out with a B.
She is the most unorganized teacher I have ever encountered. She plays computer games when she should be monitoring the class. She is unclear on grading and procrastinates on grading lab reports. She gave us our current grade by midterm when it was too late to withdraw. A positive quality is her encouragement of office-hour visits for assistance.
Ive taken her for both intro and gen chem and she really made chemistry understandable to me. She tries to compare things to life events. Im not one to study, but the tests are not too hard as long as you study a bit. The practice sets she gives are also 5 pts extra credit on tests if you complete them and drops lowest test too. Attend every class!
Read Lake Worth campus reviews THEY ARE SPOT ON!Tests don't reflect content given in class&she deliberately uses the most complicated problems on tests.Easily irritated if she explains something more than once&you don't understand it.Only grade in class are tests,so you have to do well.Wouldn't recommend her for ANY Chem. class, take someone else!
I took this class thinking the "practice sets" would help me- I quickly realized that I was failing and the practice sets only help you if you have a grade below a "C" on your test. This professor is sarcastic and is nonchalant TO FAILING SCORES! DONT TAKE HER!!
I got a D in her class in summer A, but I retook the course in summer B and got an A. Let me tell you if you need to know chem take her. the other teacher I took was a joke! I learned soo much from her. She is very nice and willing to help you with any questions you have. After taking her you will know your stuff(pcat, mcat, etc).
She's horrible, the way she explains things are really not clear or easy to understand and that class was supposed to help me understand chemistry before I can take chem 1
Not an easy professor. Very strict about laboratory dress code, keeping laboratory manual up-to-date, attendance and safety procedures. She's very knowledgeable and will answer MOST questions you ask her. Sometimes gets irritated with students for asking. Midterm and final are difficult and there is no study guide provided. Does not give away A's.
Professor does not know how to present the material so that students understand the concepts. You basically need to teach yourself. She also writes her own exam questions which do not reflect the textbook, making exam questions more confusing. Her point distribution on exams is ridiculous. If you don't want to waste time, energy, & $$ stay away!
Professor Judd doesn't seem to care whether or not you learn the information. She has an incredibly blasé attitude in class, like she is just going through the motions. She just plain can't teach. She needs to move on to another career.
Amazing professor. Explains everything as it is. Makes sense. Do the practice exercises for Quiz prep. It really helps. Doesn't really go by the textbook so you can save that money as long as you take good notes.
Professor Judd definitely hits the nail on the head with the word FAIR. She is very precise on helping you with the "How" and "Why" and not the "What" making every mistake and right answer yours and truly your own. I enjoyed her lecture and look forward to ORGO I + II w her. She however speaks from her perspective which can be confusing at times..
Never failed a class in my whole academic career except for this one, I did everything went to SI tutoring never missed a day. Still failed me & many other students. She seems happy to fail students. Didnt even recognize the hard work we all put in. She "knows it all" and expects you to know too. she will easily humiliate you for not knowing.
The bottom line is she will prepare you for whatever chemistry you need to take in the future. Her exams are set up to test if you understand the material. You defiantly will have to work(hard) to get an A but it is possible.
Her teaching style is that she wants to do bare minimum with a negative and sarcastic attitude, she doesn't like questions, and she does not convey material clearly.
If you want to pass her class with atleast a "C" you have to study harder than you ever did before. PUSH YOURSELF! Put in the effort, study, DO THE EXTRA CREDITHOMEWORK and understand it to the best of YOUR ability before test day. You don't need the textbook for her class. Live and breath her lecture notes, homework assignments and use YouTube
This prof announced proudly in class how her courses have kept students from continuing in their dental, medical aspirations. If you normally a solid A student, you might get a C. Beware of unpredictable rubrics on short answer essays and on unforeseen and extra tough tricky mechanisms. Prepare to be unsure what to expect in her grading and mood.
In general the course material is tough. Her tests are very thorough so you have to really know her notes to do well. This class takes a lot of hard work for a good grade. She is very helpful outside of class but finds questions in class annoying.
Professor Judd has a very unique teaching style. She doesn't go by the book and her powerpoints and lectures can be vague. Study her powerpoints thoroughly and go to the SLC, YouTube, and library to understand the concept. I love chemistry. But I didn't learn it from this class.
Lectures were to the point. Does lots of examples in class. The tests come directly from the power-points and they are not available online so you have to show up and take notes to pass. Takes off ALOT of points for rounding errors. Extra credit can only be used for students with less than a C so its hard to get less than a C but hard to get an A.
She really cares about the topics shes teaches the students, and has good office hours where you can go and go over your quiz. Her test can be tricky and you can loose lots of points for the smallest things. If you're looking for an east A, not gonna happen. If you wanna learn Chem, shes perfect.
She teaches only from powerpoints and uses no books. Grades increadibly harshly and most of the class got C's or D's. Do not take this professor if you care about your grades. Be prepared to be teaching yourself nearly everything.
Professor Judd does not actually care about teaching. She goes through complicated material very quickly. She will ask the class questions and stare at the class for 15 minutes when it is evident that no one understands the material. Instead of going back and recovering the material she will move on. Her SI does a better job at teaching.
As long as you study and do ALLOT of work you will do ok. The labs are long, but its ok her SI is really good looking
She's awesome! She really makes sure you get the material, offers further help and will also help better explain the labs if you are having trouble in lab with a different prof. Also, drops one test out of 6 if you take her in fall or spring. DO THE PRATICE PROBELMS, they help A TON!
JUDD IS THE BEST. Best professor I've ever had, you go girl! No one will prepare you better for organic chemistry than her. Keep doing your thing prof judd you're the best pbsc has to offer!
Organic chemistry is not an easy subject. Professor Judd used analogy to make concepts more understandable. She was always available to help outside of class.
She has done chem all of her life and expects you to have the same capacity. If you take her during the summer there is a test almost every class followed by 3 more hours of lecture despite that the majority of students didn't even know how to do the material they were just tested on. Also, she is around 65 and has cotton candy colored hair.
If you are a pre-professional major you should take her. She is so knowledge about chemistry and she will prepare you well for the upper level courses you'll take at a university . You do have to work to get a high grade but all you need to do is read the book. DO NOT be afraid to ask her questions. She is great.
Y'all salty cause y'all dont study. Listen, I had a hard time too with her BUT YOU NEED TO STUDY. I used to complain about her and whatever but if you study and apply yourself, like you're supposed to do as a college student then you'll succeed. Medical/PA/pharmacy/dental school is HARD. This class will show you what medical school is actually like
This class is tough and Judd makes things harder than they need to be. Go to another campus if you need to if you want a good grade, don't take her.
Great professor very detailed lectures & VERY knowledgeable. Challenging class tests are multiple choice & fill in the blank. The MC can be harder than the fill in the blank. 7 quizzes drops the lowest score. No other chance to improve your grade if you fail a quiz. If your not a good tester and need homework to boost your grade I wouldn't recomend
Professor Judd is an amazing lecturer. Her PPTs are very detailed and make you show up for class! She has tests, which she considers quizzes, over every chapter. They were very fair tests with extra credit built in. I loved this class. Very organized and inductive of learning. Take Professor Judd if you want to learn! I highly recommend her!
Sure, she is not all warm and fuzzy, but she is organized and goes step by step with what you need to learn. She relates concepts to games and other quirky things that make it easier to understand. If you put in the work and study the material she gives you then you should have no problem. The only bad thing I can say is that she is a hard grader.
Took her for both 1045 & 1046. Offers practice problems like the test for extra credit. Can joke around sometimes but mostly very serious. Miss a quiz no make up so you get a zero and drops the lowest quiz grade so take it even if you fail to boost your average. Don't focus on the math focus more on vocab MC is easiest way to lower your test grade.
I do not recommend taking science classes in the summer. This class was hard but I think its just because there wasnt a lot of time to fully comprehend everything. Compared to other science teachers, Judd is great. HW is optional, used as extra credit. Exams have multiple choice but its still hard.
Professor Judd lectures all class. She is terrible at explaining and in my opinion just wants to get the lesson over and done with. I had to retake chm1045, I took it online and received an A! I wish I would have withdrawn from her class sooner. You have 5 tests and thats all your grades for the entire semester, no extra credit. Good luck
Alright Y'all, If you want to pass with minimal effort, don't take Judd. But if you're serious about learning and love chemistry, Judd is one of my favorite professors. I took her class from Chm 2 through Orgo 2. She tests you on comprehension, these are SERIOUS tests, this is not a walk in the park, panzy art class. Study hard, 2-3 hours a day.
Horrible professor dont take her
Honestly, Judd is amazing. Im not sure why people dont like her. She only lectures on what is going to be on the test, goes over the math/reaction problems on the board, and is always to the point. I whole heartedly believe she doesnt get the credit she deserves. If you like teachers that go step by step and arent all over the place, take her.
Worst professor I have ever taken. dont recommend her at all no matter how good u r @ chem. Ive always been good at chem but she really makes it more difficult than need be. Doesnt care if u pass or fail. Laughs when the class average is bad. seems to take joy out of kids failing. doesnt explain anything. i promise u will regret taking her.
DO NOT TAKE HER! take any other professor. go to a different campus! Judd makes things 100x harder than they need to be. needs to be fired. does not explain anything and expects u to know the material as well as her even tho shes been teaching it forever. worst professor on this campus. 1 of her class was canceled bc barely anyone signed up!
Worst teacher ive ever had... ive never failed a class until this one, especially a lab. She grades your products so hard were other teachers dont even grade them. Wont tell you if you if you are doing the experiment right or wrong and just a stressful experience all together
My poor grade is a reflection of my poor time management. She is nice, polite, and funny. She makes herself available as needed. She is very clear about the content in the course and answers all questions asked. I will be retaking her in other courses. Practice sets and notes are a must for quizzes.
During my semester w/ Prof. Judd, she was late 2 or 3 times, which is fine, but what's not okay is being completely absent twice in a row for class. There are students like myself who drive 60 miles to and fro class. I was never good in Chemistry, but her lectures are unnecessarily bland. Her enthusiasm to teach matched my own to keep attending.
She is your worst option. I was warned about her but I took her anyway, horrible mistake! She explains things in ways only she would understand, many of us were confused. I had to constantly teach myself everything and was often anxious and in panic when I would get stuck on something I couldn't understand. This was my worst experience at pbsc :(
She is a decent professor. Her lectures can be sometimes be confusing and you have to teach yourself but the test are pretty easy. First half of the test is mainly multiple choice which consist of vocab and general questions. Second half is like balancing and etc. If you study and do the practice problems that is on her her google page youll be ok
Just take someone else!!
I had to take CHM1046 in 6 weeks.. not my first choice. However, I found her tests really stressful; at times she'd take points off for silly things like sig figs or capitalized letters. I believe if the student understands the concept & shows the work they should receive credit when its due. After taking her course I wouldn't recommend her.
She nice but an awful teacher!! I barely scraped by with a B. How ever she did give extra credit.
From the first day you could tell she didnt want to be there. If you want help, good luck, youll be greeted with attitude and treated like youre an idiot for not understanding. The class itself isnt hard but if its not answered/done the way SHE wants it then its wrong and she wont tell you its wrong until youve already got a 0 for it.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFFESSOR !!! One of the worst professors at this college, expects you to know everything, and does not teach at ALL. When asking for help, she comes off very rude. She doesn't clearly explain the lab nor the pre lab quizzes, you have to take before every class. Do not take if you actually want to learn !!
Shes the best chem prof. !! you should absolutely take her because you will know more stuff about chemistry from her than from any other chem prof. She teaches very thorough. Her tests are straightforward and only have stuff that she already teached, no tricky stuff. Anyone who took chem 1 with her always follow her until organic! Shes that gud!
the class is hard, its orgo. she has a lot of bad reviews but I think she is a great teacher. she is smart and she helps as much as she can. no curve but will give extra work for extra points. SHE WANTS YOU TO PASS!! don't expect for the grade to be handed to you but the extra credit, homework and office hours will help.
I think she is a great professor and the way she tells stories to link them to the material that we are learning is very helpful in my opinion. The text book is not required and she does gives extra credit
She makes you work for it and a very tough grader. That's all.
One of my favorite PBSC professors. I had her for remote teaching due to COVID and she made the transition so easy. The grade is based on 6 quizzes and a final with extra credit opportunities at every quiz. She explains things very well and is very friendly. It is true you need to study for the quizzes and they are about 15 questions long.
Everything is straightforward. Exams mirror content from class lectures. Attend class, take notes and you should pass. Due to covid, the class was online for 6 weeks in the summer. If you study and work hard, this class should be an easy A. Exams are multiple choice/open ended. Opportunities for extra credit. I definitely recommend her.
Shes impossible to deal with in class. She complains about you not knowing what youre supposed to do. You need to know what youre doing before you go to class and not to mention you need to write your lab book procedure before you come to the lab. She yells at everyone and dont even bother asking her anything because she makes you feel stupid.
There's a reason I signed up for Orgo Lab and Lecture 2 with Professor Judd after having her for Orgo Lab 1; she's simply the best professor I ever had at PBSC. Organic Chem is hard (duh) so no easy A's, but it was never unmanageable and she always helps when you have questions. I suggest taking both her lab and lecture for a consistent experience.
easy class, 6 quizzes, the 5th one was the hardest for me. she's a little kooky but very nice and just want to make sure everyone understands. please participate it makes her happy. no hw just practice problems for each unit you can do for extra credit. lenient grader, will explain 1000x to make sure you understand
I survived her class. It wasnt bad but you do have to work for your grade. This is my 2nd time taking her and I enjoyed her class. You should attend class to take notes but theres replays on blackboard. Her exams are hard if you dont study and know the mechanisms. It is a hard class but you can do it. Exams are not on lockdown browser.
Exams are a bit tough but her kahoot reviews help. Review problem examples from lecture because some show up on exams. Her teaching method is a bit relaxed, which makes it seem like her exams dont match the lecture, but you are also expected to review the textbook. It was tough but not super terrible. Open exams. Lots of homework to help grade.
Wayyyyyyyyyyy and I mean wayyyyyy bette than siniscalchi. Shes understanding and compassionate. She wants you to do well in her class. She will email to check on you if you miss a lot of class. She does quiz reviews on kahoot. Has a final exam study guide on her course page. Shes tries her best to help you during office hours to pass her class
This wasnt a walk in the park, but it wasnt supper terrible either. Read the book, attend class, review the kahoots, study and you should make a decent grade. Attend office hours if youre having trouble. Ask questions in the class groupchat (or make one with your classmates). Help each other out. Orgo is hard. But shes better than siniscalchi
Siniscalchi is by far the worst professor I had at pbsc. But Judd was one of the best! Shes understanding, wants you to succeed and is helpful during office hours. She takes her time explaining concepts during lectures. Her exams can be tough, but Orgo is tough in general. Shes a great professor; unlike siniscalchi and his fake reviews. Take her!
This course was definitely not the easiest but not the worst in terms of chem 2. Judd constructs her class so you're only graded on 6 tests. No homework. Just you and your own responsibility to study the unit work. She does provide helpful practice questions and extra material. Want to learn? Take this course. If you're lazy, don't.
Awesome professor. I didn't find the class super hard, but everything was explained very well and thoroughly. Understanding, too!
Professor Judd is by far the best Organic Chemistry teacher, she is my favorite professor bar none. Her classes are organized based on the notes she provides for you and the lectures are done in an orderly fashion. There is plenty of homework and a few online assignments to balance you grade. She is a extremely caring, sincere and genuine person!
Professor Judd reputation for being difficult is overblown. While she is picky with points, the conceptual parts of the unit are multiple choice, and the tests are similar to the material. She also has flexible office hours and will walk through ANY problem. Her lectures are very engaging, and she loves chemistry. If you want to learn, take her!
Cynthia Judd is a terrible teacher. All she does is read from a PowerPoint and expect you to know everything. She is terrible at explaining the material and she doesn't offer any study guides or extra material to prepare for her horrible written test. I would recommend takin another professor for any class Cynthia Judd is teaching.
Professor taking assumptions out students, getting mad at us for using additional tutoring sources online because she doesn't teach clearly. The only good thing I have to say is there is extra credit opportunities. However, marks questions wrong if you do not do them HER WAY, even if the answer is correct and powerpoints are illegible and confusing
I liked Professor Judd. She's easily assessable outside of class and is willing to help you with any problem. She offers practice questions and review questions that are extremely helpful for the tests. If you are confused, just ask. She explains the concepts well. She's funny and relatable, and overall easy to work with. I would take her again.
Professor Judd has an excellent grading scale, drops the lowest test and she wants you to succeed! If you turn in your daily HW early, she will grade them, and you can resubmit for a higher grade. Chadsprep is another great resource- subscribe to it and watch Chad's videos over and over if you are confused.
Amazing class.
"here again"
Professor Judd put lotsssss of effort into her chemistry class in high school and wants to make you do the same so you will be teaching yourself many concepts. She expects you to be fully proficient after every class and will make you feel dumb and sighs at you for asking questions she explained in previous lectures.
The class overall was good, the content is hard and you have to be willing to study. Go to her office hours and ask any question, she will help, just ask. She tells you the breakdown of each quiz and what exactly to study. She offers extra credit assignments that boost test score GREATLY. Put in the work and communicate with her and you'll pass.
Have to be willing to put in lots of work. Class was a nightmare, had me fueled with rage. Definitely NOT an easy A or B. Super strict grader!!
This professor is incredibly challenging. I had limited options when registering for the class, and she turned out to be a very tough grader who deducts points easily. She also doesn't offer any extra credit opportunities. If you have the chance, I'd strongly recommend avoiding her.
Her class is made up of 7 quizzes and 7 homework assignments. She also drops the lowest grade out of quizzes 1-6. Show up to class and engage and it shouldn't be hard, she offers .5 points extra credit for the quiz during class for answering a random question, which helps to keep the students attention in my opinion.
Professor Judd is an amazing teacher. I don't understand why she gets a bad rap, because she only wants the best for her students. For Orgo 1, she has 5 tests plus a final. They are hard, but if you study, you should do okay. But overall, she's great at what she does. She's a guru for a reason.
She gives a 10-minute, 8-9 question quiz before the lab starts for Chemistry lab students. Doesn't lecture or help during labs, 2/10 do not recommend.
I really liked professor Judd! The lab participation is very important because if you don't go to class you will get a zero. I was gone for two weeks but did the quiz beforehand and she doubled one of my lab grades to fill in one of the zeros I got! She also drops your lowest grades for each category which is super nice! Def will have her again
Professor Judd was good. She's not strict on grading. But if you don't go to a lab you will get a zero. I was gone for two weeks and she let me take the two quizzes beforehand but got a zero for the labs. I did end up getting an A though. Also she drops the lowest grades for each category which is sweet, I'd def take her again
I ended up really liking Judd. Lectures & slides are minimalist, so use the free online textbook if things don't make sense! 6 homework assignments, each takes maybe 40 mins. DO THE OPTIONAL PROBLEMS *AND* THE EC PROBLEMS--then go to office hours to review them. Mostly graded on 6 quizzes. Maybe don't take her lab if you don't have her for lecture.
Professor Judd expects a lot from the students for a one-credit lab. She makes us write everything in our notebooks (other labs can print the procedure). We have both a midterm and a final, while the other lab classes don't have either. There's no extra credit and no study guide for the exams. She teaches using PowerPoints but doesn't post them.
It was an unnecessarily hard lab because she had us take a quiz per session in no more than 10 minutes. You will have to study like it is a lecture. Doable and she's willing to help if you go to her office hours but not recommended unless you have no other choice.
Prof. Judd is a great teacher if you see yourself needing to go onto chem 2 or organic chemistry. She goes super in depth into most topics which made her class hard but also very beneficial. You must be prepared to study and take full advantage of all the extra credit and practice problems provided. Overall, she is a good professor just intense.
Good luck if you're taking her for organic
