Hard class, but interesting, and you WILL become a better writer. A lot of assignments, but she is helpful and has a sense of humour.

Yikes! Work your butt off for an essay and still get nothing higher than a mid-70. You'll learn to write but you won't get 80's.

Best prof ever! Work hard and reap the benefits - she has high expectations but is absolutley not unable to write an 80+ mark on a deserving paper. Very fair and helpful - work hard, take notes in class and excellent marks are attainable!

Great professor. She is a hard marker, but is interested in your progress. Sense of humor, get on her good side, will not effect mark, but makes the class a little more enjoyable. Really nice person.

Cynthia is a good prof. She expects the best from her students, but does care about them. She is concerned about the marks you have the potential to receive. She is tough though.

She is a very hard marker... but I'm really not that good at english anyways! If you get to know her she can be very helpful. I enjoyed this class, but be prepared to work!

Here Is The Downlow...hard class, it's a "test to see who should be in univ. or not" TALK IN CLASS AND GET INVOLVED IN DISCUSSIONS. Also it's her opinion of the oem/story that counts. Not yours. A 60 is a good mark in her class. Must read all

She is an awesome prof. She is a critical marker. It is not a "breeze", but if you work hard and show her that you are doing the work she will reward you. The comment about the "teachers pet", not true at all! She is more than willing to help if you need it. Don't go talking down about Emily D !

She is very smart, but very intimidating. She's way too intense for a first year class, avoid her until you've gone to school longer. You probably won't get a great mark in her class, but you'll learn a lot they never taught you in high school which comes in handy later on in university.

She hated me, but man did my writing ever improve. Didn't give me any leeway at all, and it helped. A lot. You'd better show up to class with her, or she'll rip you apart. If you're looking for an easy class, look somewhere else. If you're looking for some actual improvement, take something with her. You won't regret it until you see your final mar

I found Cindy to be one of the most helpful profs I have ever had. I showed up to class, did all the readings before class, thought about the material, and spoke up in class, and I got a pretty good mark. If you show her respect, she will show you respect! If you do your best and try in this class, you will do well.

Cindy Mackenzie is a great intstuctor who knows what she is talking about. My English improved hugely in her class! If you are a lazy student, like any instructor, this will neither be appreciated, nor tolerated. If you work hard, and pay attention, show up to class, and imput into the conversation, you will do well.

There is not really naything you can complain about in particular but there is somehting about her adn her teaching style that sucks. She is nice but do not make her mad or she will hate you FOREVER. She picked favorites. She was really nice to me and I got good marks but there is a lot of work and some bad choices of literature.

She is a great prof! I would love to take more classes with her. I took English 100 from her and it was a very interesting class. She explains everything really well, and if you attend class she explains the text very well which in the end allows you to produce good assignments because the answers to the assignments she gives too you.

This was a tough class but its supposed to be! She's a great prof and is very straight forward. Dont expect to pass the class if you dont show up or dont do the assignments! She marks hard but fair.

I think that Dr. Mackenzie wasnt that bad. I had difficulty at the beginning of her class but it got better. Some people think of her as really mean but she is just challenging and she wants her students to learn ssomething from the class. If you want a challenge and if you want to improve your writing skills she is diffinately the prof for you.

Wow, I?m shocked to see so many negative comments as Cynthia is a great professor. You need to attend the classes, participate in the discussions and hand in your assignments. She is a wonderful teacher you just need to do the work and you will be better for it. I honestly didn't think the class was really that hard at all.

Wow.. so many negative comments!! Yes, she is a very, very hard marker, and challenges us in every paper in every way. But I think I have learned the most out of her class - put the effort in, take her advice, meet with her to discuss your weaknesses, and you'll pull off fine marks. She knows a LOT, but classes ARE very hard.

She is a tough professor, but to anyone who has said it's impossible to get above an 80 in her class, you're wrong... In reality as long as you listen to what she says and write the way she wants you to, you'll be fine. Overall, she is ok prof.

She is a great person, but having her as a prof is a double-edged sword. If you come to class every day, keep up-to-date in your readings and participate in class discussions, you will become one of her "favourites," and if you are a pretty good writer, you will do just fine. If you are NOT one of her favourites, you will be slaughtered.

MacKenzie is quite interesting and I get that she wants participation; she craves it. I am only through a 1/4 of the class right now. Has anyone written a paper on the Suzuki book, 'The Sacred Balance'? If so, what exactly is she expecting? Any help would be very apprecciated!

Great teacher. You have to pay attention to what is going on in her class. And build portfolio. Also, do all the assignments she gives in class. I would definitely recommend her class.

Before taking this class, I read the comments on this site and AFTER taking this class I want to say how wrong most people are. Cindy is knowledgeable, helpful, and sometimes rambles but has a sense of humour. I loved this class, and if you put in effort, you will do well. It's all about attitude, and if you want to write better, she can help you.

She is a really engaging proff who is passionate about poetry.She likes to see students interested in the subject matter so participate if you can. I noticed a lot of the negative reviews come from first year students. ALL Eng 100 classes are hard. If you are struggling, talk to her and she will be more than willing to help you out.
