I have been extremely disappointed with the way this course has been thought. Most of the time the slides have been posted just before class, making it very difficult to follow when she put in 10 to 15 lines in a slide. She zooms by the each section of the law, spending more time telling us her anecdotes around who she audited and how she nailed

I was so disappointed in Cynthia Maier. she did not answered email on time; gave a wrong course schedule at the beginning, and then corrected it without notice the students. I figured out all the problems by myself. I don't think she took the teaching very seriously and paid enough attention to it. the worst teacher i have ever met.

Your best bet is to read the book and teach yourself. You get nothing out of Cynthia. I feel that I'm back in elementary school being in her class; mono toned and reads off the PowerPoint. 98% of the class doesn't even pay attention in class, whether you skip the class or not, you'll probably achieve the same grade - VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

I want to get into Auditing, particularly Forensic Auditing, but this instructor motivates me NOT to go into auditing. Her lectures are sooooooo boring and I can't understand anything she teaches. The book has a better explanation and fairly presented!!

She don't care about her class or students. She admitted she hates public speaking but now she's a instructor? I am taking audit with her and no one in the class learns anything from her. She never replies or helps out with questions. So frustrated at the way she teaches and why SAIT hired her? I wish i had dropped it.

VERY bad instructor, talks about her past working experiences..literally seems like she was a burger flipper. No undestanding of auditing, don't understand anything at all. Very unpractical exams. IF you are taking her class, be fair to yourself and drop it :)

Useless teacher. Reads off power points for first half of semester, second half teaches nothing, as everyone struggles to finish the BC2 case study (which is needed to pass this course). The case is long (100+ hrs) and confusing. Even she does not know the answers.. useless. Listen to the reviews - don't take auditing with this teacher!!

Teacher is horrible. Not there to help students at all. I asked for help it would take her 5 days to respond and then she would just give me the answer, not how you get there. I ended up failing the class becuase I wrote my final a week before course end date and was planning on handing in my assignmetns by the end date, she wouldnt allow it.

Cynthia is by far the worst instructor I've had in the past 3 years at sait. She reads off ppt slides in a monotone and refuses to answer questions or act on the suggestions she asks. She often will say what will be on the midterm and final but that advice proves wrong when the exams are nothing like what she discussed. Drop her!!!

Taking an on-line class and first day she sent us an email with all the information. No homework, no guidance, takes long to reply to emails... Be prepare to read the book on your own, find and resolve the exercises by yourself, and book your own exams at any time within the time of the term. Next time won't take class with her. Not helpful.

This horrible instructor made the whole class buy their own software cd that cost us $300 each wherein we can share the software. She made us show her the receipt for proof that we did not share. I think she is a partner with CGA that every profit they earn benefits her, too. Horrible teacher.

She stops lecturing after the first midterm and expects you to know everything. Marking is very inconsistent.

cost accounting with Cynthia is horrible. she would make you form groups and figure out the lesson by yourselves. she only discussed around 5 times last semester. dont take this class with her! save yourself and your GPA!!

She expects us to have the module read before class (not a big deal) but we also have to do a 0.5% pre-test before class, that we don't have time to do due to other work. She gives us another test in class and some questions to do. She doesn't teach what so ever, but there are tons of 0.5-1% tests, and class discussions about case studies.

No idea how she marks and gives out grades like 13.2315. Needs to lecture at a reasonable pace. also doesn't give out worksheets for students that could not make it to class. Doest give out solutions to review booklets. Save your money and time take cost accounting with someone else. only way to lean, textbook.

She's unable to explain the source of calculations and lacks consistency and clarity in what passes for lectures in her class. Be prepared to learn the course on your own first and ask very specific questions in class.

Cynthia is a very lazy teacher. She'll start off giving short (10min) lectures but after the first month won't teach anything. Tests are long and she expects you to do it in 50 minutes, no clear marking criteria as she never shows clear methods for any type of question in class. Reading the textbook is a must because she doesn't teach any theory.

Doesn't explain why we calculate numbers and always tells us just to memorize. She just reads the provided solutions in class. Most of the time, she even gets the solution wrong even though it's right in front of her already which makes everything a lot more confusing. Not helpful at all.

The criticism is all about her teaching style and in no way a reflection of her character but she doesn't teach and then gives you CPA level questions in your mid term. Avoid her at all costs!!!!

Cynthia is an absolutely horrible teacher. She's got a million quizes and absolutely stupid reflections. It doesn't seem that she knows the subject at all and she is incredibly monotonous in her lectures. Ended up withdrawing from the course. Stay as far away from her as you possibly can!

Nice enough person, but a really bad teacher. She knows the concepts of cost accounting but cant explain and interpret it well to students. She will give hard tests so you better be prepared to teach yourself cost acct.

Be prepared to learn at home. She does not teach or respond to questions. Large portion of the class cheats just to pass. She has a track record of poor performance and has not worked to improve her teaching ability. Will not respond to emails (days later, maybe.) Irritable. Stupid scratch card tests. Completely lazy. Doesn't care about students success, and never has time to answer all your questions. The expectation is that you teach yourself and mainly do practice questions in class, however you must attend class because homework is due in class. Homework gives you extra points on tests which are very difficult so you'll need the help.

I've had Cynthia for 2 semesters. She likes to move things around on the schedule that benefits her life, not the students. I withdrew because I was too sick to come too school but not sick enough for a doctor's note. When I came back to class the following week we had a 20% exam that she moved back by 2 weeks and she didn't warn anyone about it.

Rather than giving homework on a website like MyLab she makes you fill out a scratchcard almost every week which is essentially an all or nothing test if you don't get at least 7 points. She's incredibly lazy, does everything on Excel, is never prepared for class and chances are that your test answers will never be what she expected you to do.

Dont take this prof if u want good marks!!!!!!!!!

On my way to her tax class.. I don't wear a seatbelt in hopes of flying out of the windshield so I don't have to be taught by this woman again. Her accessibility outside of class is non-existent, assignments aren't related to her lectures, extremely vague with answering questions and she's too lazy to mark our own tests so we got to mark them.

I would say this instructor is probably the worst instructor ever. Not only does she not return your emails when you need help, she will also set you up for failure and never explain anything. She should not be teaching and if you ever end up getting her leave immediately.

There are no words to describe how horrible this woman. Her lectures don't help you understand the topics, better off to learn the concepts by yourself. For anyone wanting to succeed, do not take this course with Cynthia. She is a horrible prof and sets you up for failure. The only reason shes still teaching is that SAIT is a part of a union. The worst experience ever. Very lax on responding, grading, teaching, respect. Students had to keep correcting what she was teaching. Does not have skills necessary to teach online. Always confused about material, like it was 1st time seeing it. Never seen how we where marked on anything. If u have any other option to take this course, do it!!

Unpredictable. Tests incredibly difficult in comparison to what she teaches in class. Skips through topics super fast and just expects you to know and understand everything. I left feeling more confused than when I first walked into class. Good luck lol

Really awful teacher. She said something today and tomorrow she will do completely different. Don't expect she answers your email. It's hard to connect with her out of class. Even in class, it's also hard to have time to ask her question since tax class is a difficult one and many students struggle.

Sometimes I don't want to come to school, but when I had Cynthia's class that day, I didn't want to get out of bed. Cynthia almost made me change my major because of how awful she made accounting to me. Don't ever take any of her classes or else you will feel like an idiot. She is condescending despite being the least likes person in all of SAIT.

She was absolutely horrendous, the amount of people that drop her class before the end of the semester is over 50%. She does not teach you anything you will be tested on and the extra "resources" she gives you don't help either. Get ready for the worst 14 weeks of your life, try to avoid her at all costs because you'll want to cry every class.

My biggest regret is taking this class with Cynthia. I am an accounting major and she has made me feel like I've made a mistake. She is so unorganized and she never knows how to do the questions she is going through with the class. During a lecture you never know when she wants you to complete the question on your own because she just goes silent.

If I failed I would have gone straight to the Dean with this professor. Are you kidding me, SAIT? Cynthia made a classroom Teams chat and never responded to anyone. She's passive aggressive and sends a couple general emails like she's not hated by all her students. If you're forced to take her class like I was, I'll pray for you. Otherwise... RUN!

Hands down the worst professor I have had the displeasure of studying under. Doesn't know how to teach in a manner that helps the students learn, gets confused by her own answers to her own questions. Is completely inaccessible out of class, and doesn't help her students even when if they go to her for doubts.

Let me tell you something, it's a nightmare last semester!!! First thing first, she teaches like a monk, whispering like also fall asleep, never reply to your emails. Class took our first test. After the test the class average was 41%. Not a big deal because the written wasn't marked yet. After written was done, class average was 46% on an open book test. Let's see how the rest of the semester goes.

Maier is a nice person but she should not be teaching. If you enjoy being read walls of text with no diagrams or examples for 50 minutes, and then given a question where you guess your way through it, and then have it skimmed over for 10 seconds with little explanation then this pick this prof. You will be teaching yourself if you wish to pass.

If you would like to waste your tuition money and time, this class is for you! We had our first quix and the class average was 33%. She should not teach at all. She expects you to know once she goes through it once. I have never felt so stupid while taking a class. You question yourself it its even worth taking ( even though it is a pre req ).

Shw does not take care. Students are struggling and she does not help. You send e-mails to her and she does not respond. She only sent one e-mail in the beginning of the course and disappeared. Everything you read is true, however, I feel it is a very tough course as well. Quiz averages are 30% open book. There were 40 students that started and 22 that ended. Most failed the final exam including myself. Thankfully its not a requirement to pass the course. Had a meeting with academ. chair and they know and do not care at all.

The fact that Mrs.Maier is still allowed to teach is laughable. At the beginning of the semester, there were 40 students; by the final exam, 22. Every negative review you read is not exaggerating or making it worse than it sounds. It wastes time, energy, and, most of all, money. At least it's over. I'll pray for everyone who is taking this course.

Taxation is already a very challenging course and Cynthia does not make it any better. The examples in class, homework, and tests are all quite different so it is hard to learn things step by step and apply concepts. Cynthia can be a bit condescending at times, essentially clowning the fact that most people do poorly.

I have never had experienced a class as terrible as this one. As the semester continued she slowly became more condescending, unhelpful and lazy. Ended lectures early, & only read off of her terribly made slides. I would go back to my ex before I would take her class again.

Blown away by the experience with this teacher. No engagement with the class, just sits at her desk and talks like a prerecorded class. Often just tells you to refer to the textbook when you ask for help. Avoid Cynthia at all costs. I am just starting out taking the class again in Olga's class, and I can already see the difference.

The class itself is challenging even with an adequate instructor but Cynthia makes this class a living hell. I'm not sure if you could get any worse than this. This is a very complicated course, if you don't carefully read the book or excel, you will fail the exam, the teacher's ppt is also very bad, there is nothing to learn from. When we looked at excel there were places where we didn't really understand why we were doing this. It's really hard. It's easy to fail. Take care

To be honest the whole class is a self study class, she wont teach but she will just put the solutions on the board expecting you to figure it out and hates when you ask questions. All the negative reviews prior to this are spot on, if you want to learn tax, hire someone who can teach the content not just show you the solutions. No care, passion, or interest to see students succeed it is your fault if you fail for not studying. The whole class is an excel sheet battle, avoid if you can because your GPA/Brain will thank you.

Many profs will have skewed reviews because their course is difficult; this is NOT one of those cases. Everything you're reading is accurate. If I worked somewhere and every customer who came in wrote a complaint, I would be fired almost immediately. The Dean, SA, and advisors know how AWFUL this professor is and choose to do nothing about it. Cynthia is the perfect symbol of everything that is wrong with SAIT, and the fact that she still works here is embarrassing for this organization.

I found this accounting class very frustrating. She didn't actually explain the material, she simply read directly from the PowerPoint slides without adding any real explanation or examples.I would not recommend this class to anyone who needs clear teaching or real support. Be prepared to struggle through the material on your own.

cynthia just reads off the slides she shows, its pointless to attend class because you wont be able to learn anything. My classmates survived with the help of the tutorials. I would HIGHLY SUGGEST to NOT take her class.

If you ever have this class, all i can say is GOODLUCK. She is easily the worst prof to ever walk in this institute. She is very knowledgeable but she does not know how to teach students who ARE LEARNING TAX for the first time.
