She is a very nice lady, her class is kind of boring but I have it at night so what can you expect. Class is pretty difficult, but she does an OK job explaining it. She presents all of the material, but does not do it in a way conducive to her student's learning. Take someone else if possible, but she is not bad.
Hard, not very useful. Hard tests, must go to class.
Cares about her studentes. Willing to spend time outsid class to help
Best instructor I've had. Accounting is hard but she provides all kindes of opportunities to do well. Very clear instruction. Highly recommend this teacher if you want to understand material.
She is an awesome instructor. Extremely organized and clear. I've had other instructors that are scattered, she's clear. Her quizzes are helpful in advance of exams. She pays attention to whether students are getting the material and answers questions really well.
Super instructor. Take her if you can. She really cares about student learning. Shows how things fit together. Clear. Very approachable. Helpful.
Awesome teacher. Answers students questions well. Covers lots of material. Worth attending class - clear lectures.
She could be a decent Professor but she talks so monotone and only does problems on the board by herself without asking the class for participation or engaging the students in the learning. She then asks if you have any questions but I was so confused and lost that I didn't know where to start for questions or comments.Take someone else if possible!
Excellent prof. Clear. Uses class time, worthwhile going. Super nice. Helpful in office hours. Take her if you want to learn somthing.
Good instructor.
You'll want to attend every class. You have a 3 point quiz every class period and she drops your 6 lowest scores. There are 4 normal tests and then a cumulative final. Cynthia teaches the material really well and you will have to put forth some effort to get an A because tests are not just gimme's. You have to know your stuff.
Cynthia Miller is extremely helpful. I didn't really understand the material during class time or on my own, but she is very approachable and her office hours helped me a lot. Quizzes everyday so attendance is mandatory.
DO NOT TAKE HER. Not only is this class more boring than watching paint dry, her tests are impossible and her teaching style is unorganized and extremely hard to follow. She does not curve AT ALL, has daily graded quizzes, does not hand ANYTHING back, and has a cumulative final. Don't think her kindness is proof of being a good professor..it's not!
This class is impossible!!! She starts the semester out good and acts like she is going to be a good teacher but she is NOT!! Do NOT take her! U have four regular tests that are over 2 chapters each and then the final is over 4 NEW chapters and all the old stuff -- its impossible! She is by far one of the worst teachers@
This is an excellent instructor. If you go into get help, she'll do it. She stays beyond regular ofice hrs if you need. And, she DOES CURVE. All Acc 201 course sections have comprehensiv finals.
Great instructor. Knows her stuff. U will learn.
She is clear about what u need to know for exams. Covers it. Good
learned alot. very fair prof
Very nice lady, but not a good teacher at all!!! DO NOT take her. She was very unorganized and her final was impossible. She does not curve.
learned alot. Teaches extremely well. Not super easy, but makes adjustments on exam & Quiz scores, and answers questions. Got a "B" ... but Coulda got better if I spent more time
clear on expectations. useful class. great prof, Interested in helping you learn
As several people have said what she "lectures" in class does not correspond to what the homework is. Also she is very mono toned!
Very well organized class structure. Teaches for learning.
Class well organized and structured. Extremely helpful in office hours. Keeps you informed of standing
She is a horrible professor. I spent hours studying her lectures and homework. My dad is an Accounting professor and CFO and says that is doing a horrible job at teaching students. Her homework does not pertain to her exams even though she claims they do. She knows what she is talking about but can not make it relate to you what so ever.
terribly boring class, her mono tone voice makes it even worse. exams do not reflect what was learned through the homework.. i wouldn't recommend her.
Good instructor. Not entertaining, but know what talking about and clear. Need to understand meanings of stuff. Recommend taking.
This is hands down one of the worst teachers to take at UK. Her tests do not relate to the class or homework. She purposefully makes the tests hard by changing the formats on each. I would never take this person again if my life depended on it. Read these Cynthia and learn.
great instructor. very helpful.
Last exam was tied to homework & lecture - - good. Learn a lot in this course. Thorough. Feel more prepared for intermediate acct course.
do not take her if you want to get a good grade in this class. the final was rediculous and even if you go to her office hours, it rarely even helps. her tests are nothing like her notes. do not take.
very helpful and nice too. Take if want to learn material & be ready for later financial acc courses
This teacher is terrible. She expects so much out of the students at a subject that is foreign to most of us. We covered a chapter in just 2 50 minute class periods. It's like a new chapter per week or less and she goes through each chapter ridiculously fast and spends little time on each slide, just enough to expect you to understand everything
The material is very challenging and you have to put in a lot of work if you want to do well in the class. But she is always willing to help outside of class time if you are proactive enough to go.
Took the final exam ..... I am SOOOOOOOO glad I went to her office hours to review my prior exams!!! Big time help preparing. Majority of final was WAY better than last Fall when I took her B4. Would recommend taking this instructor. Very helpful in person.
Drops lowest Exam. Drops 2 lowest homeworks. I think I'll get a B, maybe A depending on final exam score. I feel o.k. about the final. Instructor Always willing to help ..... even stayed past end of office hours a couple times I needed. Even tho material is really challenging.
Final was cumulative but when I was taking, I recognized most of the questions on previous stuff right off her earlier exams. A lot of material to study and not easy but is do-able, plus new material final exam questions looked mostly to me like those covered in class. Relief.
Learned a lot. Final exam questions mostly from exams during semester, so I wasn't real surprised. Drops lowest midterm exam score too.
Professor is very willing to help if you put fourth the effort. This class by far covered the most material in one semester than any other class however not all the material was that difficult. If you fall behind very difficult to get caught back up. Only negative is the professor has to much going on at once in the power points.
I had her fall 2009 so she might have tweaked her grading and teaching styles. I have a full ride to UK and got my first C in this class. not for lack of effort. You must go to class as she gives quizzes daily. count on spending 20+ hours studying for any test. Advised not to take this teacher.
Great hand-outs & worksheets provided. First exam based alot on those. recommend taking
Really knows how to teach. Prepared & organized. Recommend taking.
Nice but REALLY HARD. gives handouts every class that are impossible to follow. Class is mandatory (gives quizzes). She never reviews for tests or tells what the format will be or what will be on it.
knows material, and wants to help. homework is beast! prereq's, for prereqs, then you can start homework after you have received 100% on them. then comes hw, and the timed quiz. extremely demanding class! if you have no life...take this class
she is a cat lady. she gives you 5 hand outs a day and doesnt even use them, she uses them the next class so if you dont go to them all then youre screwed. And even if you do go it's impossible to follow bc she goes so fast. the tests are 70+ questions in 50 mins so dont even hope to get better than a C.
She is absolutely awful. She knows the information but can not teach it. I have spend my entire semester working 20 hours a week and barely have a C. Half of my class dropped before the halfway point of semester. DO NOT TAKE HER! Her test and homework are way harder then other ACC 201 professors.
Do not take this class! She is by far the hardest accounting teacher at UK. Extreme ammounts of Homework and quizzes most classes. Tests are very hard as well.
You will have to work VERY hard to get a good grade, but you will understand the content better than anyone else in ACC 201. If you're willing to put in the work, it will pay off. It can be frustrating at times when your friends dont have any hwork and you have a LOT, but it'll be worth it. ATTEND OFFICE HOURS!
She is by far the best teacher that I have had at UK. This class was extremely difficult, but she knows the material and is more than willing to sit down with you and explain it. ATTEND OFFICE HOURS AND ALL CLASSES. Also, don't wait to the last second for homework or quizzes. You have to study for ever quiz like it's a test because they are hard.
If you are an Accounting major I would take this class. It is very hard and time consuming, but it is worth it. You will understand the material and be ready for upper level accounting classes. She is also extremely helpful and willing to spend time with all of her students.
Worst teacher at UK!! This class is by far the most difficult class I have ever taken!! She wouldnt even help me when i asked to meet her outside of class! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS TEACHER. Yes, she knows her stuff but it is WAY WAY harder then any other section. The homework, quizzes, and tests are ridiculous and she is a super tough with grading. Save yourself about 10 hours a week of homework and quizzes and just take another teacher.
Hardest class i have taken at UK. You have to work very very hard to get an A and you have a mandatory atleast 5 hours of homework a week or you will fail the class. Attendance is not mandatory but then you must read the book. A test or quiz every week (on friday)and you must study very hard. You will learn a lot if you pay attention.
DON'T TAKE HER. Her syllabus is 15 pages long and you will spend at least 6 hours on homework every week, not including the quizzes which are available on Saturdays and due Sundays every week and are 1 hour long. Tests are feasible but you have to study A LOT. If you're not an accounting major, don't waste your time like she did mine.
This class should be limited to Accounting majors only. Words cannot describe how difficult this course is. I ended up dropping it and am glad that I did! Homework, quizzes, and exams are brutal!
Very Difficult. Cynthia knows the material well and will take the time to teach it to you. Know that you are getting into very tough course and should be limited to ACC majors.
I wasn't an accounting major, however I was still required to take this class for my HES major. Plan to spend up to 12-15 hours a week studying and doing homework. Exams and quizzes are extremely difficult and thorough and no study guides are given even for the cumulative final.
Does things like, gives you 15 mins to take quiz, then at minute 15 calls people out loud to put their pencils down. Real mature.
Great instructor. You'll really learn.
Learned alot.
While this class is very difficult, you will also learn a lot about the subject. Be prepared to work hard and spend a lot of time on this class. I am an accounting major so I appretiated that it was hard so I learned the material well, but if you're not an accounting major you may want to look for another teacher since it is a time consuming class.
She is great at explaining the material so being an accounting major I enjoyed learning from her but when it comes to tests, quizzes, and hw be prepared to make her class your life because it's all extremely time consuming and difficult. Disliked her class A LOT
Hard Class, Prof. Miller is a great Teacher, however her Test,Homework and Quizzes are too difficult for a 200 level class, be prepared to spend 40+ hrs studying for exams and another 6 hrs on online homework, Unless you have this kind of time to donate to Accounting DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS
Just a horrible teacher. Her tests are impossible and her lectures are useless. The amount of work that you have to put into this class is not worth it. There is no time for any other class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
If you are genuinely interested in learning about accounting then Miller is recommended. She is a tough teacher, but by golly you will leave her class with a solid understanding of the in's and out's of accounting. I admire her help during office hours and is a great professor with terrific people skills. TAKE HER!
Great teacher. Enjoyed this class. Alot of work, but really learned.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Her lectures are completely POINTLESS and the homework takes at least 7 hours in order to finish. The tests are unbelievably IMPOSSIBLE! Taking this class was the worst decision I have made so far, she makes it way more complicated than it really is. DO NOT TAKE HER AS A TEACHER! Consider this your warning.
This is a hard class and from what I hear the hardest of all ACC 202 classes. There is a lot of homework and online quizzes, but its worth doing. Her test and quizzes are fairly difficult, but going to class and doing the homework will earn you a decent if you really make the effort to understand it. I would only reccomend this class for ACC majors
Loved this class. She explains things very well. Tough, but fair. The work is worth it.
If you want to have one of the most stressful, frustrating and difficult times of your life, then take this class. This is the hardest class I've ever taken. Tons of homework, weekly quizzes, and the tests are killers. ONLY take the class if you absolutely HAVE to. Miller is a great teacher though. She's very clear and explains everything well.
If your passion is Accounting and you already have a solid foundation in the area then you will probably survive the class. Otherwise RUN!!! Seriously, worst teacher ever. Prepare to hate your life if you take her class.
One of the best instructors I've had. Alot of work, but can definitely be done, and learned a ton.
Great teacher. Very helpful. Willing to help any student if they ask. Very precise in responding to emails for help and other concerns. Hard class, but great for accounting majors. Worth your time if you put effort into everything.
Hard Class. But you will learn a lot. She gives you enough resources to be successful, but shes not going to hold your hand. Class doesn't slow down for you to catch up. Expect to have to put effort in.
Three words. DO. NOT. TAKE. Incredibly hard class. This class is a living hell for non accounting majors. She abbreviates everything in her power points and nothing ever makes sense. There is no study guide or way to know what's on the exams until your're stuck in the middle of another "D"
EXTREMELY HARD CLASS, be prepared to have your i.d. verified whenever you take her tests to make sure its you, that kind of class. Covers too much in her notes and doesn't provide any time to go over examples. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in her office for help in the course
Her tests are hard, and she doesn't give them back to you. MAL homework and quiz every week. She shows up late to class almost every day or cancels it. She doesn't always cover all the material or rushes through it, expecting you to get it on your own. DON'T TAKE HER!!!
Great teacher. Got me interested in ACC as my major. Lots work, but TAKE if you really want to learn.
Helped me learn alot.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken. Her online homework takes hours upon hours. The quizzes are downright impossible. The tests are slightly better than the quizzes but still difficult. Expect to study a ton and be confused often.
Motivated and caring teacher, will go out of her way to help you. Miller is really nice, although she seems scary at first, with a desire to help students succeed. Material is hard and she expects a lot from students. You get what you put in. You will know the material when you leave. Ask questions and seek help when needed.
She is very helpful and encouraging. I learned a lot from her class. I would encourage you to take her class if you are a accounting major, because her class will definately help to build a solid foundation for your future study.
ONLY take her if you're an Accounting major!! Very difficult class if you are not fully committed. HW & Online quizes take hours to finish. In-Class quizes are very tough. Exams are very tough too. She is a great professor & is super nice. You get what you put into it, and if you aren't going to put a minimum of 3-4 hours a week, then Good Luck.
Helped me build a solid foundation in accounting 202 where i'm now consistently getting A's on every exam while putting minimal effort into the class. DEFINITELY take her if you're an accounting major; as the foundation you build in her class will pay off in the upper division accounting courses. She's helpful, and a great teacher.
Great professor! The class is a lot of work, but you remember the material. She's a stickler for the rules, but I loved her class. You must go to class to pass!
She is an amazing teacher, not easy, but if Accounting is your major she is definitely the teacher to have.
Teacher is ok, but the class itself is HORRIBLE! not for non-accounting majors at all! this class will make you want to pull your hair out!
DO NOT TAKE!!! Class requires hours and hours of studying and homework every week. Test are ridiculously hard. Take someone else because Miller will ruin your semester.
Best instructor I've had. Learned way more than thought I could.
She will ruin your semester. Do not take her. She is a nice lady, however she thinks everyone in her class will be a CPA one day and I don't know if some CPAs could pass some of her test
Do not take Miller!!! this class is obnoxious! homework takes 10 hours a week and her notes are useless. She's a really nice lady, but this class is just not for the non-accounting major!
Not helpful. Made little effort to help students understand material that should not have been too difficult. Tests were painfully hard.
She is a great teacher. Challenging exams but very fair. Go to class & office hours! Extremely helpful, easy to talk to
One of the best I've taken. Great class.
Best instructor I've had yet. Great class. Worth taking.
She helped form a strong foundation for what I am now confident I want to major in. Tough exams but not impossible. If you go to class and actually pay attention, and do the homework then you should have no problem getting an A/B.
This class was rough, the teacher isn't very forgiving
Excellent instructor and course.
Spent 5 hours per assignment, and had 2-3 assignments before every exam (5 exams). EXTREMELY boring and monotonous lecturer. Exams are 5-6 pages long, and extremely difficult. AVOID. She will most likely ruin your semester.
This class is really boring, it ruin my interest in Accounting. I'm sitting in her class right now, typing this review of her and her class to give you guys a heads up before enrolling in her class.
Definitely not for non accounting majors. Very boring lecture, her only method of teaching is reading power points off slides
Best class. Recommend this teacher. Learned alot. Fair exams and homework.
Loved this class. I'm really prepared now in accounting. Teacher really knows the material. Nice.
This was quite a demanding course. She expected a substantial amount of effort from her students, but if you did everything she told you an A is definitely feasible. Do not take this class unless you are committed to devoting a significant amount of time each day to the material.
I loved this class and loved her! If you aren't willing to put in work do not take this class though. Do not buy the textbook because it comes with the access code for homework. If you are an accounting major for sure take her
One of the best teachers I've had at UK. Definitely reccommend if you are an accounting major, she really makes sure that you understand the material. It is a lot of work - but if you do it all, you will definitely get an A in the class. Very helpful & willing to work with students outside of class. Extremely nice.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This was a terrible teacher. I live with 2 accountants and they couldn't even make sense of the homework. I am an A/B student and was in tears more than once over this class (Other were too. Her homework was miserable and the tests were near impossible. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
If your major is non-accounting, do NOT take her. Very strict about attendance, very time consuming. Particularly if you are a Nutrition/Dietetic student and have an already demanding schedule. She is nice, but its not worth it. Don't get me started on the exams.
Currently Enrolled in this class. As a dietetics major I find it pretty challenging. Its quite a bit of work but Cynthia does a great job explaining and reinforcing the material. She's extremely helpful and really cares about her students. If you are willing to put the work in an A is very attainable.
This one is pretty simple. If you're an accounting major and really love the subject, take her. She is the most thorough and will prepare you well. If not, stay far away. Miller is tough, dry, and to the point. Very sweet person though if you need anything or have a question, just gets a little rattled sometimes. Loved the class.
PowerPoint slides were unorganized, homework takes over 5 hours. Test are way to hard & don't relate to the powerpoints. I won't recommend this teacher at all.
At first, I was worried about this class because of what I have heard about Ms. Miller. However, she has ended up being one of the better teachers I have had at UK. If you are willing to put in the time, this class is not impossible. Miller really cares about her students and I can not stress enough how important it is to go to her office hours!!
Cynthia Miller is a great professor who really knows what she is doing but her teaching style and class material and exams are very tough, she really wants her students to exceed. Spent 4-8 hrs doing each homework assignment. You must go to her office hours is u plan to do well and really understand the materials.
Powerpoint slides would never help on the exam. Even you have excuse absence, you are not gonna have make up quiz. Anything she teaches in the class might help 10% of the exams. NEVER recommend her at all.
Really pretty bad. Readings, homework and lectures do not have anything to do with each other and will not help you on the exams. Homework takes at least 3 hours to complete. Exams are next to impossible. This class is what made me decide to switch majors. DO NOT TAKE!!!
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!! X 100000000000000000000000000
She really believes that if she says something enough that it will stick. The problem is that she uses abbreviations like this before explaining what they stand for. She had some of the worst organization I have ever seen in any presentation (yes including those 3rd grade book reports). Would definitely not have anyone I know take her class.
Miller is a very nice lady. But that is probably the only good thing she has going for her. DO NOT TAKE HER! Her exams are impossible... I studied for each exam for over 40 hours the week prior to taking them but the material in the book and on the homework did not help on the exams and her lectures are pretty useless too. Avoid Miller at all cost
Professor Miller teaches 201 Accounting at a 301 level. If you enjoying Accounting, or plan on being an Accountant, take her, she's the one for you. If you're not an Accounting Major you will not pass her class. And if you do, your other grades will suffer, and you will still get a C in her class; after focusing 3 hours a day on her material alone.
She is tough but if you go to every class and pay attention you can get an A. I found the class to be interesting and I am not an accounting major. Read her syllabus and you will be fine. I did all the homework the day it was due and then studied for a couple hours. Go review your tests. Anytime I had a question she addressed it the same day.
Ms. Miller was one of the toughest professors I've had but I also learned more about accounting from her than most of my peers did taking the same class under a different professor. While she is tough, if you are planning on going into the accounting field, she is the professor for you. She is also easy to talk to in her office hours & very helpful
She gets an awful reputation around campus but is easily the most helpful teacher I've ever had. If you go thru her notes, listen to her, and don't cheat on the hw you will get an A. She may be harder than most teachers but because of her I didn't even have to attend my ACC 202 class because it was so much easier. Actually teaches the stuff to you
One of the most rigorous, demanding courses I've ever taken. However, she will always be willing to help you and answer questions that you have. With that said, do not expect her to baby you and spoonfeed you. If you want a solid understanding of accounting and don't mind devoting lots of time to it, take her.
She has some of the most unorganized presentations for notes that I've ever seen. Uses animations and (tries) to color code EVERYTHING which its extremely distracting and confusing. Did not answer my emails in a reasonable time.. skip one class, and she won't help you. BEWARE. I would never recommend this Professor to anyone.
DO NOT SKIP CLASS. She tends to not help students who do not take the time to attend lectures. The less you attend the less she is willing to help and the less lenient she will be on your exams. Lectures are difficult to follow unless you print off every-single-chapter outline. I would avoid her and smigla unless you are an accounting major.
At all costs do not take her as your accounting professor. Not helpful. Horrible teacher. Lectures to fast and gives too much homework without explaining it at all. Worst class I have ever been a part of.
Attendance, completing the homework, and paying attention is necessary to pass. She gives no sympathy to those who skip class then ask questions. She is a nice lady and cares about her students, just as long as you show you care about her class. Must read the book and look over notes if you expect to do well on the exam
Don't do it
I cannot write a nasty enough comment. Hands down worst teacher EVER to have been experienced. Seriously the worst mistake you will ever make.
She is by far the worst professor/teacher I have ever experienced in all of my 19 years of life. She doesn't give tests back, so you don't know what you're doing wrong to fix it and that, to me, is the reason why I'm not progressing in the class. Therefore, I dropped it. She is VERY strict about rules and attendance and grades and even for exams.
MUST go to class for (hard) clicker questions. TEXTBOOK is your best friend. Helps make the homework easy. For tests, I pretty much just read and took notes on the textbook. DON'T just know how to do things vaguely, know exactly why and how and effects of changes. The tests expect you to know info VERY well. Overall a GREAT class to learn ACC201.
Be prepared to go to class and pay attention. Make sure you know every single detail about everything. Read notes and book. really nice in office hours and definitely learned a lot. takes a lot of time, be prepared
If you have a good handle on accounting, take her! She will help you and you'll learn a lot. If you don't and still decide to take her, may God have mercy on your soul. This is not an easy course, she is not an easy grader, and if you aren't buckled down you will not succeed. Goodluck.
Professor Miller is a very intelligent person and is a great accounting teacher. If you're an accounting or finance major, you want to take Miller because she will prepare you for your major. This class is so important and Miller is the professor to take. If you're not an accounting or finance major, you may have a harder time in the class.
Worst professor I have ever taken. 4.0 student that had to drop the class due to the unnecessary work she included. Taking her course hurt my grades in my other courses.
Professor Miller is not easy. BUT, if your an accounting major like me you should take her. She makes you learn a lot about Financial accounting and I am actually grateful that I took her. Yes her exams are hard. Yes her homework can be hard. But read the book and GO VISIT HER IN HER OFFICE!! If you go see her she will help you out!!
Toughest professor I have had to date, shes not terrible at teaching the material but if you dont read and prepare ahead of time you will not be able to understand anything in class, she expects an unreasonable amount out of her students, if you bring a mechanical pencil to an exam you will get yelled at, be prepared to teach yourself from the book
If you are an accounting major this class is very helpful. However, if you are not. DROP THE CLASS. The homework is impossible. Her in class quizzes are really hard and bring down your grade. As well as the exams are impossible and super hard. I would not recommend you taking this class if you can find a better teacher.
Most difficult professor I've had my whole college career. Test are about 15 pages long and every question is at least 5 parts. Quizzes bring grade down and homework is difficult and takes hours to do, but only worth few points in the end. If you can take another professor I strongly encourage it.
Let me put it this way, I've never gotten a grade lower than a B in my whole life. I spent 12 hours a week on this class. I did all the homework (which is awful) and didn't miss a single class. I got a 59 and I have never gave so much effort to one class. Avoid at all costs
She is extremely unreasonable and grades very hard. Acts as if you have no other classes, homework assignments take hours upon hours. She'll scream at you if you take pictures of her lecture power points or if you bring a mechanical pencil to a test. DO NOT TAKE AT ALL COSTS
Terrible mistake taking this professor, thought I could handle it after reading the reviews of her, but honestly I was just straight up wrong. There were 5 people I knew who dropped the class, plus me. The exams were pretty difficult considering it's a basic accounting course. She doesn't give the exams back to you or go over any of the exam.
ONLY take if you are an accounting major. Homework heavy and takes hours, be prepared to put a minimum of 15 hours a week into this class. Exams, good luck.
Do not take this professor!!! I can not stress that enough. Very homework heavy. You spend so much time studying what you think she will put on the long exams, and she doesn't.
If you are reading this then drop this class. I have never had a problem in any class thus far besides this one. Miller is the least understanding individual I have ever met, and if you run into any problems good luck. She expects students to spend countless hours on tests and especially homework but makes the exams nothing like what you studied.
The worst professor I have ever had in my whole career. Tests are absolutely impossible, the class average was consistently in the 40's and she has no heart for her students. Homework took as much as 10 hours a piece and this class took away from all my others. HUGE MISTAKE. Should have listened to these reviews in the first place. NEVER AGAIN.
Absolutely the worst professor at UK. You can do well on the homework but her tests are absolutely ridiculous and terrible. She makes sure you receive an L on the exams.
Absolutely terrible. Her exams are literally impossible.. DO NOT TAKE HER. I got all A+'s on the homework and then pretty much failed all the exams, even though I understood the material.
Cynthia is the worst professor I've ever had. Her teaching in class and homework are in no way similar to her exams. I am a chem major and a business minor. Her exams are harder than any exams I've taken. Also, she gives no extra study material besides her copyrighted notes. You don't get your exams back either. Don't take her unless you have to...
This is sincerely one of the most challenging courses available to a business major at the University of Kentucky. If you're not an accounting major, jump ship immediately. Take a different class. If you are an accounting major, stick through the class. She will teach you more about accounting than any other professor at the University. It was hard
Her exams are literally meant to trick you. They are not worded clearly at all, and she won't explain what she meant by a question if you ask her.
She isn't that bad. Anyone who wants an easy A, look elsewhere. I have enjoyed this class.
Her tests are really freaking hard and the only real way to study for them is by reviewing the handouts that she has you print before each lecture. She's a fantastic teacher (one of the the best i have ever had) in that she explains the material well and is always open to answer questions during class, but her only "weakness" is those exams
Hardest teacher I've had in college. Tests are beyond difficult, do not take this class if you aren't an Accounting major. She makes her tests the day before therefore you have no hope of knowing what will be on there. Shes a terrible teacher and doesn't convey material well, often mumbling through an entire class.
ACC201 with Dr. Miller is super difficult. Try to take this class with a different professor if you can. The exams are some of the hardest ones I have ever taken and they are hard to prepare for because they're nothing like the homework. You really need to read the textbook before lecture to understand the material, but even with this I struggle.
No walk in the park, but do I regret taking it? Absolutely not. Unlike previous ACC courses, material is not handfed. While difficult, this will benefit in the long run and force thought about the big picture. Dr. Miller is very approachable, knowledgeable, and wants students to succeed. Go to office hours, study lecture notes, and dont put off hw
She is one of the greatest professors I have had at this university. Professor Miller puts so much time and effort into ensuring you understand the content. Her class is challenging, but she prepares you for everything. She wants her students to succeed and understand accounting. What I learned from her helped me with my internship at a Big 4.
DO NOT TAKE HER ACCOUNTING 201 OR 202 CLASS. I put time in to understand things, I usually get As or Bs. But I failed her accounting 201 class with flying colors. Her teaching style is completely theoretical. Retaining the information she gives you during lectures is pointless because her lectures, notes, homework and tests do not match up at all.
I honestly dont think I understood a SINGLE WORD she ever mumbled throughout the whole semester. If you want to pass her classes, pay for a tutor - or better yet, drop her class early so you can get in the same class with another teacher.
I took this class fall 2017 despite reading all of the horrible comments and have found most of them to be extremely inaccurate. She is very easy to understand and repeats the things she wants you to know many times. You HAVE to attend class. If you have everything in the packets she hands out in class memorized then you will get an A.
Cynthia Miller is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She is very relaxed. BUT she is the hardest professor I've had in college. She is very good at explaining but it's like her exams are intentionally tricking you. Multiple guess is her favorite type of question. She is good to go to for explanations but bad if you want a good grade.
Never make the mistake of getting her as your teacher. I've always had great grades in school but somehow managed to fail her class. Put multiple hours of work every single day studying for this class, went to the LEAP lab at the least 3 times a week, attended every single lecture and took notes, and still failed. Please do not take her class.
Miller is a great teacher to go to outside of class to get help and is really nice and great at explaining things. The problem is her exams are awful. She doesn't specify what is on them and then once you get to the exam, the material was not what I had studied at all. I felt like I knew the material, but the exams were just awful.
Probably the worst class I've ever taken.
This was by far the hardest and worst class I have ever taken at UK. The class is 85% tests and 15% homeworks. She makes the tests absolutely impossible and the homeworks take me 6-8 hours to complete (no I am not joking). Do NOT take her!!
People who complain about her are probably people who have never had to put effort into a class before. Her exams are hard, but that's because accounting as a subject is hard. Her class is probably the hardest class for a 'general' business major. Take her if you're accounting or finance. Try hard.
Took her for 201 and that was awful but i figured it wouldn't be as bad since I know how she makes her tests now. Boy was I wrong. The class size went from 40 to 10 after the second test. She puts a lot of extra material in each test question to trick you. Please don't do this to yourself. You don't deserve the stress she will give you.
Miller is a very hard prof. Only take her if you're an ACC or FIN major. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS- she is always more than happy to help and is very approachable. Her exams are extremely hard. I studied for weeks going into them and still had no idea what I was doing on them. There's also a lot of homework- it usually takes about 6-10 hours per week.
save yourself the time and find a different teacher
I groped her class. you will have an exam couple days later after first class. everything study on your own. bunches of materials needed to read through and remember. after each exam will make you feel you wrote a "book". sooo thick in two hrs. if you are taking her class, just good luck.
Wow she might be the worst teacher of all time. She literally blows. If you are not sitting in the first two rows you wont be able to hear her. All she does is put some random powerpoint up, talk under her breath, and dismiss class. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS
To make it simple, don't do it. She is a very nice lady but that's about it. This class consists of boring lectures, homework assignments that can take about 3-6 hours, and exams that reflect neither the lecture or homework. I actually had a panic attack from this class and I've never experienced anything like it. This class is a health risk.
Professor Miller is a very nice lady, but she is one of the hardest teachers I've ever had. Do not ignore previous reviews like I did, because she actually is really tough. I have never had to fight to keep a B in a class before this class. So do yourself a favor, save the stress and the disappointment, and take a different professor.
Hardest class I've ever taken. She's a very nice lady and a decent teacher but her tests are impossible. Losts of homework that doesn't help on the test. Do yourself a favor and take another teacher.
Worst professor ever and I personally hate her teaching methods. Extremely hard to follow along with what she is saying & homework does not match with the exams. I learn more by reading the textbook than listening to her & feel like I have to teach myself the material.
Miller is a great professor. If you are an ACC or FIN major, take her class! It was the hardest class I've ever taken but I learned SO much, not just about accounting but about how to study better. Thought about dropping this class multiple times but so glad I didn't as it has made ACC302 much easier. Go to her office hours, she will help a lot.
Cynthia Miller is the worst professor I've ever had at UK Her homework takes easily 3 hours to complete, which you have to teach yourself how to do because she mumbles through her lectures Tests were extremely difficult & not related to hw Her class started with 80, and when I finally dropped it, only 12 students were left. Don't take this class .
I did not have any prior experience to accounting before her class and I am paying for it. Do not take the class without a prior knowledge. Get ready to teach yourself how to do everything and spend hours reading and getting help through tutors.
Miller is the absolute worst professor I have ever taken at any university. Her lectures consist of a ton of packets and powerpoints that are not helpful unless youve taken accounting before. You have to teach yourself. Homework easily takes hours to complete, exams are very difficult. The only reason I have a D is because I go to the tutor.
She is very sweet if you come to class. She has no sympathy for people who are doing poorly who don't bother to show up. You NEED to come to class. She has packets you do in class that are your key to passing the tests. I never had to study from the book, just packets and homework. I didn't have any prior accounting knowledge and I didn't need it.
In order to succeed in this course you must show up to every class. Miller gives out packets and that is the best resource for her exams. Although the class is difficult, to succeed you must put the effort in. Miller cares for her students and knows who cares and who doesn't. She wants you to succeed but also wants you to learn the material.
I can easily say this course was the worst experience I've had throughout my entire educational career. 3 days a week, from the time you sit down in your first lecture to the last minute of the course you will be filling out an endless stream of worksheets while she lectures. Her approach to accounting and examination of your knowledge is baffling
Don not take Cynthia Miller for accounting. Her lectures are the most pointless thing and cover about 5% of the exam. The homeworks take hours to complete because you essentially have to teach yourself everything. The exams are extremely difficult. Ive never had to study so hard to attempt to pass a class
Please, PLEASE, do not take this teacher if you are a busy college student. She has no understanding of things happening beyond your control. If she thinks she is right she will not even consider your situation. She does not care about students and their life. She only cares about following strict rules and policies.
She sets Wiley Plus HW assignments as best of 5 attempts, but changes values on each attempt, so instead of fixing your mistakes, you have to redo the entire problem again. Tests are a gauntlet. Lecture/book/HW material hardly gives a feel for what the exams are like. You wont finish if you second guess yourself or take your time on questions.
Literally the hardest class ive had and I took 407 and 324 before this. Also be prepared to teach yourself everything because the exams are 50% what was covered in class and the homework. Make sure you set aside like 5 hours per homework as they are impossible and so so long. Im sure the professor knows her stuff but she doesnt know how to teach.
The homework takes HOURS. But, the homework and exams are nothing alike. I would do awesome on the homework and go to every class and still fail exams. I ended up dropping the class.
Each homework took me about an average of 4 hours with the tutors. She is hard to approach, as she has a lot of rules about her office hours. The material is hard and the grading is unfair since some people has already taken accounting classes before and some has not. But, if you try in class, you will learn a lot by the time semester is done.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had, the lectures are incredibly boring, she will not post test averages for the class itself, she splits it into groups based on homework averages and number of missed classes. Her tests are nothing like the homework and are filled with very specific information that we only went over maybe once in a lecture.
A lot of people complain about Cynthia Miller, but she is a very good professor IF you are an accounting major. She knows the stuff very well and the course is really informational. The exams are just based on the lecture, but apparently nobody can seem to figure that out. Not an easy A, but a good take if you want to push yourself.
Great Professor, willing to help if you if you put in the work.
I studied the text book like crazy. Learned the material. Get to exam 1 and find out that half of what I studied is not on the test... why? 10 HWs, each 200 problems, most of that stuff isn't even on the test. Thanks, but no Thanks!
She'll teach you the basics but won't tell you that you need to know it so in-depth for the tests. She'll teach 2+24 and 42+2 but the tests asks 6-3?... Relatable? Sure, but i spent so much time learning 2's, 4's, and addition that I did not expect to see subtraction, 3's, and 6's. Though she fully expected you to learn all the numbers and +/-
Had to drop the class because her exams are nothing like what you do in class. Also when you look over your exams, very confusing on how to tell what you got right and wrong
Miller knows everything about accounting and would be a great professor for a non required entry level class but her exams are extremely difficult regardless of your class attendance and completion of homework. It is not impossible to succeed in her class, but I would recommend taking any other professor if it your 1st time with accounting.
There is not a grade for attendance, but going to class is a MUST! The book goes along with the homework, and the in-class packets usually correlate to the exams. If you go to class, attempt the homework, & practice the problems in the book (along with skimming the book) you should be golden in this class. I learned a lot about accounting from her.
READ THE TEXTBOOK Use chegg Exams are impossible. Had a D going into the final and studied for 5 days straight. It bent me over. I silently cried the entire time. Walked out knowing I would have to retake the entire class and she ended up passing me with a C. Shes forgiving if you put in the effort and participate during class.
Good lord, bless your heart and your brain if you decide to schedule with Miller. Amazing teacher but the workload is something else... get a chegg subscription and get to know some people in class for help
you really have to work for it but she isnt a bad professor. The homework takes a while so you need to start it early and I would definitely go get help because your entire grade is just based off of homework and exams. Her exams are hard but they arent multiple choice so she gives a lot of partial credit. Study journal entries and read the book!
If you're choosing between Miller and another professor for this class, TAKE THE OTHER PROFESSOR. The only grades are 10 homeworks (which each take HOURS to complete) and 4 exams. The exams are extremely difficult and hardly match up with the lectures and textbook readings. Miller is an extremely smart woman, but she should not teach this course.
Miller is a good teacher IF you are an accounting major. I have a D in the class and need a D to pass with Pass/ Fail. Her exams are worded extremely difficult with the content being pulled from God knows where.
Honestly one of the most difficult teachers I've ever dealt with. Class and content isn't that advanced, but Miller makes tough tests and is a pain to interact with. If you show up to class and listen it's fairly easy to get an A as long as you study for tests. Absolutely would never take again though
She is an amazing lecturer, explains the concepts clearly and knows what to repeat. Exams are hard and comprehensive, lots of questions, but Accounting is hard anyways. if you attend all lectures and listen, go over the textbook before exam. getting an A is not that hard. I only got a B+ cuz I got lazy and didn't really prepare for the final.
Took her online over the summer and she was of 0% help and made the Test overly difficult with multiple tricks and questions that we're barely associated with what you learn in the textbook (class Avg 65 EX 1). She provided no practice Exams, no exam prep videos/worksheets, and no announcements on the structure of the exams. I aint a slouch either
Do everything you can to not take this professor for anything. She does not help her students whatsoever, makes you guess what is on tests, and is very unfair. The homework are super long and would be helpful but her exams are nothing like the homework or lecture content. I did very well in my first two accounting courses without her.
This class was the most ridiculous class I have ever taken. Exams and homework did not coincide and the work load for the class was astronomical Instead of condensing the material so the content needed was actually available. This during covid. She should not be an instructor really disappointed that UK accepts this quality of Professor
It's disgraceful that she is a professor at any college. She is by far the worst I've ever had and anyone else who has had her would definitely agree. Does not care for students whatsoever, pretty much a guessing game on what is going to be on the exams and quizzes, and an awful person. Convinced any good review on here of her she did herself.
Cynthia Miller is by far the worst professor I have ever had. She shows no sympathy for any students for any reason and has repeatedly made learning difficult at every turn. I have always gotten A's in accounting courses and I am a hard worker, yet this course I am forced to drop, out of fear of receiving an F.
If you're an accounting major, take her! I was so much more prepared for my later classes because her class was difficult and forced me to learn the things I needed to know. If you're not up for a challenge, don't do it, but if you do I promise two semesters from now you'll be glad you did. I took her Spring '19 and I am so much better off for it.
Don't take her online class
Awful professor. Posted NONE of the assignments to Canvas and basically called my entire class stupid for doing poorly on a check-in assignment that, again, WASN'T POSTED TO CANVAS. Told us the answer but didn't explain how to do it correctly. Had no lectures, only videos. Basically only interacted w/ class through annoucements.
Had to take her online cause COVID. Read the textbook and teach yourself. The hw takes away but will help for test
Skip Her at any cost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only class I've struggled with thus far in college. She manages to lecture the entire time but still makes the tests difficult.
NEVER TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!! She is by far the worse Professor I have ever encountered, if your only choice is to take her class then take the accounting equivalent at BCTC
Worst teacher at UK! She gives makes you buy the book and then tells you to teach yourself accounting. Tests are impossible and most people failed but she's alright with that.
I usually do very well in accounting courses, A+ in 201 and B+ in 202, however Professor Miller made this course impossibly difficult. The homework took forever to do, and were loosely related to exams. If you can avoid this class, do it, by far the worst experience Ive ever had at Kentucky.
never had a clue as to what she was talking about and essentially taught myself the class
I am not one to rate a professor but this was the worst class i have ever taken in my life. Homework takes me a total of 8 hours to do. The notes make no sense. The exams are not a good reflection on the homework, notes, or textbook. The class before the exam is a lecture over the next chapter that won't even be on the exam. wish me luck on exam 3
I graduated 3 years ago with a degree in econ and havent taken accounting in 6 years. I felt compelled to write this review because I still have nightmares about this professor and she is seriously the worst teacher I have ever had. I dropped her class and took the summer course. By doing so i saved time and my sanity.
Miller does a good job during lectures at making things clear. The homework assignments take a couple of hours each, but they are very good at helping to understand the material. Tests are long, but not too difficult if you take time to comprehend the homework.
terrible professor. i could learn more from reading the book for a few minutes than from a whole week in her class. just terribly boring and bad at making things clear. also- provides no study guides and the material on the exams is often WAY off than what youd think it would be. so its super hard to prepare for them.
I felt that I actually lost brain cells attending this class. Her lectures consist of her handing out massive "guided" note packets that you fill out every class that provide no help whatsoever on the HW or exams. The homework takes hours to complete and doesn't correlate with the exams at all. I strongly recommend taking anyone else.
So I just started this course and I already know that NOTHING i learn in class is going to help me. Im currently reading for accounting then decided to search up some definitions and stuff just to find this site and see that many others in the past struggled with this professor as well. i wish I had found this site earlier before I picked her clas
DO NOT TAKE HER if you can avoid it! I felt less prepared on her exams than I have on any tests I've ever taken. Lecture heavy, but she says SO much yet SO LITTLE. She doesn't post her power points or anything students can use to study. She didn't give us info on the exams either. I know it's her job to make us work but this class is comically hard
Really chill as a person but hard class
Very difficult to reach outside of class and is very aloof in general. I went into this class with an open mind, since everyone says that Miller's class is the worst, but those people were not exaggerating. Tests do not translate to what you learn in class and there is no way to get an idea of what will be on tests. Most difficult class I've taken.
She is a terrible teacher. The worst I have ever had. About 80% of my class dropped because they knew that she could not teach well. It seems as if it is difficult for her to talk about one subject at a time and brings up topics that we are yet to learn which only adds to the confusion. Please do not take her if you plan on learning any accounting.
She only gives two types of assignments (1 homework assignment for each chapter and 4 unit tests every two weeks). Talking to her outside of class gets you nowhere. Her exams are super long and she doesn't return your exams to review and she doesn't even talk about the exams itself to prepare for. She instead starts a whole different unit.
She gives you packets to fill out every class, and the homework is online and set up the same way. The tests are difficult and if you put minimal effort into school this class will be hard. I have never talked to her outside of class but she just teaches the lecture and that's about it. Not bad but also not a fun class.
her class is for a special person. IDK how I got a C, her teaching style is very... unique. She doesn't review for exams, you're on your own. We didn't even finish our notes for the FINAL, she likes to go on tangents. The HW and exams are nothing alike. She talks a lot, and hard to understand. I know it's college but this feels unnecessarily hard.
Ms. Miller is very knowledgable about accounting. However, I don't believe she does a good job of conveying the material clearly. If you don't get it the first time, you won't get it. The homework is somewhat like the notes, but some questions require you to teach yourself. There is no way of knowing what is on the exams, and they are very hard.
This has to be the worst professor at UK. I would recommend taking this class through BCTC if she is your only option. Over half my class was getting 50% or below and she did nothing about this class average. Her tests and homework are impossible. You wont actually learn accounting from her but rather be stressed and anxious the entirety of class.
Professor Miller is usually nice and helpful to students who go to her office hours. However, she is a VERY firm rule-follower, of which her syllabus contains 2 pages worth of rules in small letters. My class had nearly everyone scoring under 50% on all of the exams and she did not provide much help for preparing. If you take her class, beware
Cynthia Miller may be one of the worst profs at UK. DO NOT take her during the summer. The tests are extremely hard and almost nothing like her lectures or homework. God forbid if you have technical difficulties during an exam, because she will fail you with no remorse. Stay away from this lady if you have any shred of self respect.
All I can is avoid Cynthia Miller for Accounting! Her last name should be Killer instead of Miller cause she will Kill your grade if you are not already a pro at the subject. Also, I hope your internet connection is good, cause she will refuse to let you retake a quiz if it acts up.
Miller refuses to post anything at all for you to review in an attempt to "privatize her material" so you can't share it with others. C'mon. Homework/tests are not given back to you so your only resources for preparing for exams are the class notes, which are a waste of paper. Led Zeppelin wrote a song about Miller's teaching style - Ramble On.
Easily the worst Professor I've had and is known as one of the worst here at UK. The lectures are completely useless, they don't relate to the homework or textbook and are all over the place. Had to hire a tutor to teach me the material because. If you're looking for a class/professor that will drop your GPA she's the professor to look for.
Very very tough professor. For perspective, my physics 2 class is much easier than her ACC 301. I am a double major in business and stem and this class is the hardest I've take in college (harder than Cal 1-4). Very kind and caring professor, just avoid her class like the plague if possible. You will learn accounting, but at what cost?
She lectures nonstop and doesn't give students time to breathe while taking notes. She hardly stops for questions. I don't even want to know what grade I would've gotten if I didn't drop the class before the first exam.
She is an NPC. This is UK's worst professor. I'll rather change my major than have to take her class again.
Avoid at all costs. She is very knowledgeable about the topic but is possibly the worst instructor. Awful planning, terrible pacing, and extremely strict. The class handouts, tests, and text book have little to no relation to each other.
Avoid taking Miller at all costs. She is knowledgable on the topic, but she moves way too fast through the material. Tests are impossible and unreasonably hard. Her notes do not help with the homework at all, and it takes me a minimum of 5 hours each on a good day. Take literally any other professor. Save yourselves!
Brutal experience. The homework would take a good 4-5 hours sometimes and it would be barely worth any points. Exams are tough that do not reflect the lecture material clearly. She told my class "Understand the language of the concepts" without telling us what would be on the test. Super boring. The average was a good 60% for exams. I had to drop
Would rather drop my major than take her course again. Unless you breathe sleep and eat accounting you would be lucky to get a B. Her test are confusing and nothing like homework or notes She gives almost no help to pass The only reason why I took her class was because by the time my registration opened up all other teachers were gone DONT TAKE HER
This is the worst professor I've ever had. She refuses to give any information on what may be on the exams as well as the layout. Her study advice is "know everything." She told the LEAP Lab tutors that they weren't allowed to help me anymore the day after I went to her office hours and told them that going to the tutor was really helping me.
Initially hated her like everyone else, but I've come to realize that every ACC prof. is hated bc the class itself sucks. Miller is nice in person (although strict) and somewhat generous with the curve and exam grading. The lectures are boring and the class is challenging though, and if you're not willing to put in more work than usual you'll fail.
I've had her for only 2 weeks and I wish I would've taken any other professor. She hands out thick packets of paper every class and does not go over the material well at all. Doing the homework is taking hours because it is nothing like the lectures and handouts. Avoid this teacher if you can
Worst Teacher I have ever had. She refused to accept my excused absence. Also laughed when I told her I was the president of my fraternity during office hours.
Professor Miller did not allow notes online. Notes were taken on thick packets of paper. Classes seemed to be entirely copying what was on the board and not actually learning. She did not help whatsoever with exam preparation leaving many students wondering what to prioritize when studying. Homework took hours.Only upside is she is a lenient grader
I learned a LOT from her class but I also had a nervous breakdown studying for her final. Exams are nothing like the homework. STUDY THE PACKETS. She will never have you fill out a financial statement on an exam. Some exam topics will not be mentioned in class or in homework so read the book, except for the final, just study the packets.
By far the toughest class I have had. There aren't any resources or tutors on campus to work on extra practice, making it more difficult if you can't always make office hours. Paper-heavy and you must attend every class because its the only way you will have access to the material went over that day. Homework is rough and doesn't help on exams much
Tough class, but unstuckstudy AI helped a lot with prep. Lectures are dry, but attending is a must. Homework takes forever, but the grading is lenient. Overall, not the best, but manageable.
She doesn't post any slides of the lectures or the notes, her exam's are nothing like the homework. The hours i spend on the homework to get ready for the test doesn't even matter because the test is completely different. You could say it's kind of old school and not many students nowadays would like this type of course.
Do not recommend
(ACC 475) Professor Miller is very knowledgable, but her class is structured poorly. The entire course is based around a 10-part group project, which you don't get to choose your group for. She takes off tons of points for tiny mistakes. Exams in this class are very random and hard to study for as they don't reflect book or lecture material.
Do NOT take her for ACC 475. Her exams are nothing like what we go over in class and she does not give you feedback on the exams. You are responsible for learning a lot of content on your own and then get tested on the tiniest details of items that were never mentioned or touched on during class.
Took her for ACC 201. I wish I had switched out of the class earlier in the semester. I would have definitely been better off taking a fully online accounting section than taking ACC 201 with her. Taking her course was not impossible, but you're going to be making it unnecessarily hard on yourself if you take her.
I managed to avoid her until my last semester of college. I thought "What the heck, its one class. I have a 4.0. I'm a good student and one professor won't change that." WRONG. Her incompetence and hatred for teaching her students absolutely destroyed my final semester of college. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
DO NOT TAKE HER. Her exams are absoluetly nothing like the homework, more-so like the packets, but even then the exams feel like a completely different course material. Final is almost no multiple choice, all fill in the blank journal entries or literally entire statements. do not recommend at all.
She doesn't teach you just copy down what she writes on the board. exams are hard with only a few multiple choice questions.
She doesn't teach; all you do in the lectures is fill out papers that won't help later. Exams aren't based on class or homework material so good luck studying.
She does not teach, she just reads off of slides and gives you blank packets. There is no online material for filled out packets on canvas. The exams are nothing like the material and are very confusing to know what you should be doing on them. There are zero study guides/review sessions so good luck trying to find a way to prepare for the exam.
Terrible teacher. Does not post slides or notes, you can only take notes on handouts in class. Test are extremely difficult and are not based off the textbook. Very unhelpful in office hours and is overall just not a good teacher.
This is a tough class in general. With that being said, find someone else to teach you. Her notes are blank packets you have to copy off the screen. Homework can take hours. Exams are ridiculous and she pulls material from things you have never seen before. Majority of people can't finish the exam in time. No study guide or review for exams at all.
The course is hard, lectures are on paper handouts that aren't available online. The harder part are the exams, she provides no study material which makes them hard to study for since you're not sure what to expect. Look to take a different professor, but if you have to, be prepared to study a lot for exams (notes, textbook, homework).
Lectures are loosely connected to the textbook, disorganized, and boring. Expected to understand everything in the textbook-she gives no guidance for what may be included. Exam questions are tedious and sometimes meant to confuse. There is no homework to study, either. I had her for 201 which was a bit better but do not take this course with her.
Do not take this class with Miller. She is not a good professor and does not care how you do. Final exam is cumulative and 35% of your grade. Exams are mostly short answer with a few multiple choice. She does not tell you what to study or what is going to be on the exams.
Disorganized lectures, unclear expectations, and poor communication made this class frustrating. At the start, you get packets and must write everything down. No slides or resources on Canvas—just homework. She's unapproachable and gives little feedback. Exams don't match the material. I left more confused than when I started.
Not a bad class just play games on your laptop since lecture doesn't help at all with the exams. Get ahead of the work too use your resources well. Treat it as a job that's it turn your work in on time and you'll pass easy
Doesn't actually teach anything. Only reads off of slides and makes you take notes on packets that have nothing to do with the exams.
Horrible teacher. Never got a F in my life until I took her. Didn't try to help you at all. I got all A's this semester besides this class. Do not take her.
She doesn't teach the subject well and goes over examples rather than teaching the topics. No help on the exams when it comes to preparation and you have no access to the material if you don't attend the lectures. Homework takes forever to do and have nothing to do with the exam. Exams are more like the packets so study those instead!
When asked what will be in class she will say "I have already said so" this folks is a lie. When you ask her no I don't think you heard me she will repeat herself. DONT TAKE HER CLASS. IF SHE IS THE ONLY TEACHER AVAILABLE FOR A REQUIRED COURSE. TAKE A GAP YEAR
Terrible professor. Teaches nothing, just goes over the slides, which have absolutely NOTHING to do with the exams. The homework is very long and can be difficult to do on your own and is also nothing like the exams. She gives the hardest versions of the questions on the exams, which she never teaches in class as well and also provides no review.
This may be one of the worst teachers I have ever had. Terrible at presenting the material forcing you to teach yourself almost everything. I have never been so dumbfounded that someone like this can get a job as a professor. She gives you a templet that you fill out in class where you follow along with no explanation to whats being written down.
Horrible do not take her. Lectures or textbook don't match exams, she grades harshly and provides no feed back, lectures are slow and nothing important is ever said. She made my last semester of college hell!!!
She might be the worst teacher ive had in my 19 years of taking classes. Might as well have skipped every lecture and just taught myself. Exams are impossibly hard and literally only reflect the hardest homework questions. Homework takes forever as well and good luck trying to figure out how to do half of them.
She is one of the worst teachers ever and makes it your problem.
