This class was HARD!! She's nice though, just not very easy to understand.
She is very energetic and tries to explain things so that you will understand.
She is very HARD!!!!! Go to class or you will be screwed!!!! Study hard or beware! Nice teacher though
She is a very good teacher, but her class is very challenging. She covers a lot of complex material.
Hard class with challenging material, but she presents it in a clear and organized way.
THIS TEACHER IS PREPARED.. BUT IF YOU DONT WANT TO SUCCEED OR TAKE THIS CLASS AS A BREEZE CLASS THINK AGAIN... SHE IS DEFINATLEY HARD AND SHE REQUIRES TONS OF DETAILS.... BOTTOM LINE.. IF YOU WANT TO WORK SUPER HARD.. TAKE HER... EXCELLENT TEACHER N HELPF
I like this class a lot because it wasn't boring and it was a little challenging. She likes detail and complete understanding for her tests, so if you like that in a teacher then take her.
She obviously has passion for what shes teaching but is tricky on her tests. The online notes are helpful but nothing is helpful when studying for the tests. She is nice, the class is crap.
Her tests are hard
can teach, keeps you interested
She is a hard teacher, but explains the material to you in a very understanding way. The tests are very hard, but if you study a lot you should do ok. She tries very hard to help you and she has homework that helps bring your grade up. She is very nice though.
not a very difficult class
She is a great professor and truly cares about the success of her students. Her lectures really make the class interesting. Her tests are a little challenging - you have to read each question carefully and give a thorough response (in other words, know your stuff!) I highly recommend this profess
The tests are really hard and I advise going to all the lectures. They are pretty long and in detail but worth it. Shes a great teacher tho and I highly recommend her. She knows her stuff. Just study really hard, read the book, and know the lecture notes.
Amazing, interesting, funny teacher. Unfortunately, there is a lot of material to master so you will need to pay attention. However, her personality gives you the initiative to actually go to lectures. She makes psychology really interesting!
This class is interesting, the online quizzes are easy, but NOTHING like the exams. They are very hard and she wants you to know details. The topics are easy, but she isnt.
One of my favorite professors at Oakland. She is extremely helpful, very kind & she'll never make you feel stupid if you don't understand things. The class is pretty hard but she'll help you succeed.
Best profess. at OU. She's funny, interesting, keeps on tasks, moves fast, and makes you pay attention. There's no boredom in her class. She's kind and approachable. you'll work hard and like it!
The course material is hard but the Prof. is enthusiastic and interesting. I advise you attend as much as possible. There is a lot of info covered in class.
She isn't a horrible teacher, but shes not the best either. She can stop showing off and she can also slow down her lecture. Dam women this isn't a speed race!!!
She is awesome professor! She's always there for her students!
Really great teacher. She's animated and her class is totally tolerable. Just do your studying and everything is easy. I reccomend her to you.
Great Prof, helps students with any request and is very easy going with making up work
I'd say take her if your up for a challenge. Dont take her if you dont like psyc. or if your study skills are not that great or if you are just lazy.
Prof.Sifonis is a very helpful professor. If you ever need help, she is there after class, makes time for office hours. Her desire is to make the students understand the material and really study the concept of it. Her test are hard, because if youre thinking about going to Graduate School you must learn, so she wants you to do well. Its for your ow
She is good at what she does, but some of the concepts were hard to grasp. The tests are very hard and all the material used in class is on there, also from the books. If you take this class you need to read a lot, and be very involved. Not reccomended for Health Sciences- take an easier professor. Good for psychology majors.
I love Sifonis! She makes the material interesting and she cares about her students. Her tests are challenging, but not bad. Overall, she is a good teacher.
Probably one of the best teachers I have ever had, its not an easy class - but as long as you go to class and pay attention, do the readings, and do the writting assignments you are guarenteed a 2.0, the exams are challenging, but she usually goes over things pretty throughly if they are going to be part of the essay portion.
Terrific instructor for this class. Very helpful if you ask. Does grade too harshly especially since answers are subjective and questions are worded overly difficult. You will have to work hard for the grade but you will definitely remember material once you understand. She will be missed.
The course is not easy for everyone but she is very helpful. I would recommend anyone who wants to learn about cognitive to take this class.
She is a great professor. She is interesting and uses a lot of practical examples from her own life to help us understand the material. She does pod casts which are really great if you want to miss a class or two. I would highly recommend her.
Good professor. Really tries to accomodate students, especially if they are sick, or had to work. Will send lectures. Test are fairly hard, but reasonable. Writing assignments, are simple that are worth 15% of grade, and you can make corrections. Good class
Super nice lady and very helpful if you ask her questions. but her tests are way too hard. i studied more for her class than any other and still did horrible on the tests.
She was great. In retrospect, if I had put more effort into it, I would have done much better.
pretty easy teacher...after taking it last semester with eberly she was a breeze! a little high strung, but it keeps the classs interesting....exams are easy as long as u take the homework quizzes, scan the notes and text!
She is a really nice lady... very spazzy and always moving! she keeps things interesting during lecture... but her tests are pretty tricky! she grades fairly tough- that seems to be the consensus in our class. attendance is mandatory with lots of participation grades. curves a bit so that helps. pretty good teacher overall.
She is a very good professor. She teaches with pasion. You must attend class regularly, it's mandatory and there's participation that counts towards your final grade. Her tests are pretty hard, studying is a must. Pay attention in class! Overall, I really liked her.
Easy class. Interesting lecture. Easy A if you take notes, read the book, etc. Hardest part is the tests. Overall great teacher.
She was a great professor. You can't skip and pass, but as long as you show up to class and listen, you'll do good. She has a great passion for what she teaches and is very helpful.
She is a wonderful energetic teacher. She seems totally motivated in what she teaches, and she does it well. When you don't understand something, she's more than willing to take the time just to explain it. As long as you studied, this class is like an ice cream sundae. Highly recommended. (:
She is an awesome professor! she is very passionate about what she teaches! The class has a lot of required readings and the exams are pretty hard. She is a very tough grader but she does give chances for extra credit and also gives you great study guides for the exams!
She is a sweet,.... but a hard grader. Exams :'( hard. Would take her again :)
Prof Sifonis makes a boring class not so boring. Very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and willing to help. You MUST attend lectures and STUDY to do well in this class. Exams are tricky and graded pretty strictly but you'll learn a lot in Prof. Sifonis's class.
This class was absolutely rediculous. The grading was wayyy too hard, the assignments were stupid, what was taught has nothing to do with psychology, and I worked harder in this class than any other class and my grade did not prove that. The class ruined my gpa and I have NO idea why anyone would put good comments. DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS!!
The grading was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too hard. STAY AWAY FROM HER!
hard grader,...
Insanely hard grader, miserable class to be in. The worst part are her short answer exam questions - RANDOM, not relevant, HIGHLY specific.... designed to fail. Passed with a 2.3..... knew 10 who failed.
Interesting prof, very helpful. Good to take if you want to learn something. If you are a slacker do not take her class. One of the most challenging and rewarding classes. Tests are hard and so is grading. Those who like to be spoon fed will not do well.
HORRIBLE. I hated this teacher with a passion. Ridiculous grading that makes it impossible to do well. Extremely unorganized and tests are insanely hard and specific. Assignments are graded completely unfairly and when asking her what you did wrong she makes you feel stupid. HATED HER. DO NOT take this class unless you like impossible standards
Took Cognitive Psychology as an online summer course and wouldn't recommend for others to do so! Positives: her Power Points, helpfulness with Second Life Negatives: Extremely hard on grading, does not fully explain what she expects from your writing
Pretty challenging course. Exams are essay and she wants alot of detail, but if you read her notes, and answer from those, you will get an A. Took her online. Secondlife was a pain, and so was the commercial. But all in all, she is very nice, emailed back quickly, and offers extra credit. I got a 3.8 over summer, just study!
Since this is a required class, you may as well take it with her! Yes, her tests are hard, but as long as you read the book and listen in class, then you'll do fine. I personally hate doing research, but she made it fun and interesting.
She def. loves what she teaches. She is good at teaching- but is the hardest grader I have ever had. Requires ALOT of detail in your essay exams and papers. Takes forever to pass back your papers (Went into final only knowing first exam and paper grade). When you go to her office to ask for help- she just says add more detail. Take another class!
She's a great professor. She loves what she teaches & always always energetic.. the lectures are easy to follow along with. But her blue book exams requires a lot of information. She has high expectations for what she wants from you - and it can hurt your grade if you don't try. really, this is a no joke class. You really need to know your stuff.
very good prof, hard grader
WORST CLASS EVER. HORRIBLE TEACHING AND TESTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU'RE TRYING TO FAIL.
This is a tough class, she really "digs deep" into the material. She is very energetic & loves what she teaches. You can't just slide by in this class, you have to study because her exams are more in depth that her lectures. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities which help a ton! Pretty good/average professor, tough class.
She is notoriously bad at getting your grades back to you in a timely manner. Grading is often sloppy and she marks you down for not having info that was actually present. Apparently doesn't have enough time to devote to teaching. She should stick to researching and you should take a prof who puts students first.
If you want your papers back in less than a month, don't take her. I don't know what she's doing, but it's not grading your work. EXTREMELY PICKY, if you have the right idea but don't word it how she wants, it's all wrong. Not reasonable at all
She is such a fun, energetic, and nice prof, unfortunately her exams will end you, they are impossible. Too bad huh?
Yes, this is a hard class and exams are all essay. However, if you actually put effort into it, you will do fine. Homework and projects really help your grade. Exams questions are taken directly from the study guide. Grading is sometimes unclear, but she's always available to ask.
Sifonis is one of the most enthusiastic professors I have ever had. She truly loves what she does, and is more than willing to help you out with anything in the class if you are willing to take the time to ask her. Grading takes a while, but homework points help make up for any points missed on exams. Definitely recommend her.
This is a quality Professor. She is not easy, and you will work for your grade. She is also approachable, and she makes adjustments to benefit students and the course. If you put the work in, you can definitely be successful in one of her courses. I would take a course with her again.
Class was really hard. There was no Textbook to refer to. She was helpful when you asked questions. She grades very tough!! She treated this class like it was a 400 level class when it was a 200 level. She is very passionate and energetic about her field, but is a harsh grader.
She made this class way harder than it should have been. Her grading is questionable, grades very hard and is not specific in what she wants from you. She is very energetic about the field and needs to lay off the coffee. I took this class to boost my gpa and it had the opposite effect. Avoid this class!!!
SHe is one of the best professors at Oakland University. She cares about her students and her field and ensures that her courses are challenging. If you are in college for the right reasons and not taking classes simply to boost your GPA because of how much you choose to slack off, she is a great choice for any student!
Cynthia Sifonis is my favorite professor! Classes are interesting and engaging, she's open and honest and you can tell that she really loves to teach. No textbook required. I highly recommend this class.
Terrible class. Professor is nice and has interest in field, but way too harsh in grading. Tests were impossible, no textbook so all we had were her lectures and questions on tests fell out of the sky! Would not recommend! I knew material she taught well and got a C in the class when i normally get at least 3.5s
It took me a while to figure out the class structure, but over the course of the semester I have come to enjoy the lectures and this class has greatly increased my interest in creativity. Professor Sifonis is a great teacher and seems to know a lot about this subject. I have no regrets taking this course and I would recommend this course to others.
Great personality, failure to commit to class.
One of those prof's only interested in her own stuff. Don't bother trying to communicate, just study and get your A.
Dr. Sifonis was an okay professor. Her grading was a bit confusing on the weekly forum posts. She would give feedback, but it was unclear. She would say your wording was confusing but didn't say why or how it was confusing. The weekly quizzes would be really difficult, her wording was odd also. Overall I got a 3.1 that I really worked hard for.
Tests are fair but the lectures feel dry
Online class was okay. Didn't have to do the readings, need to listen to the lectures. Moodle was slightly disorganized which was frustrating. Two group projects which weren't hard, just difficult to coordinate. Also have to use a digital gaming platform which was frustrating and kind of pointless. Overall ok class. Do the work, you'll do fine.
This was my first time taking an online class and the first time with Professor Sifonis. She explains the material well, is helpful and cares about her students. I'm going for a second degree and have had plenty of professors, so I know what's out there. I would certainly take another course with her,
Takes forever to give grades&feedback. Super passionate about research & teaching, but puts those before grading. It was always hard for her to reply to my emails. Group projects are a given since online- we turned in HW 2A & didn't receive the grade/feedback in time, so we submitted Hw2B and failed it. Discussion forums each week. Open note exams.
This professor is rude, does not respond to emails, grades way too harshly. Takes off points for the most minor things, not to mention her quizzes are IMPOSSIBLE.
Always very helpful. Uses Second Life, makes the class more interesting. This topic isn't easy but, she will make sure you are understanding what you need to.
One of the worst professors I've ever had. Online lectures are very old and sometimes give false information. Feedback for papers takes months, and email replies feel like they take even longer. Doesn't give good feedback, and is very inconsistent. Workload is unreasonable, and textbook is useless.
Sifonis is one of the most challenging professors I've ever taken. An online course with her is a big no. Her video lectures are very old, and at times gave inaccurate information - which throws off your quiz scores. Group projects in an online class are very annoying and this class was no exception. Doesn't answer emails. Feedback takes forever.
I had to drop this class. I never had a professor this unorganized. Class had a pretty heavy emphasis on SecondLife which she seemed to have issues with herself. Group projects were lame and all on SecondLife. She seems passionate, but I couldn't have this class interfering with my other courses.
Sifonis is really unorganized and takes forever to grade anything. She knows what shes talking about, but just isnt able to communicate that effectively so you just have to guess constantly. She likes (or is intimidated by) confidence and will grade you better if you are sure of yourself
Dr. Sifonis is a very intelligent lady, but she is an awful professor. She is so behind on grading. When she posts grades, she provides absolutely no feedback. Forced to work in groups, but doesn't explain projects or give any time in class. No clear grading criteria. Projects based on SecondLife, but never talks about SecondLife in class.
Good teacher, could have been a little more personal and learned about the students more.
This class is OVER THE TOP w/ assignments, it was truly unrealistic. I took 5 classes this past semester & this one class had more work then my other four combined. Sifonis is not the best w/ grading, she takes a while & does not give fair grades. I did well in the class but it was a constant struggle & many emails back & fourth w/ not much solved!
had her for online way too many videos each week like 20+ makes you use 2nd life which sucked because i could only use it at school. Her quizzes don't really match her videos. made us do a group project which was super difficult especially for being online. grades your discussions poorly. first class I've failed, and i need it to graduate. hated it
Disorganized, poor communicator, seems very involved in things other than professional obligations.
Professor Sifonis is very intelligent and caring. Communication could be more effective and her expectations arent always clear. But I hope to take a class again with her someday... because she is without a doubt my favorite professor of all time.
Cindys class is above the others. The other classes are lower level in my experience. Shes too good for them, and I hope she realizes it and never lowers herself to such a level. I hope she knows shes the only teacher out of all of them that I will personally vouch for when the time is right.
Professor is a really harsh grader considering she expects her students to understand when she's not feeling great herself (not doing her work on time). Second life is not an appropriate way to apply concepts as it is outdated and does not help with understanding content. Group project at the end which is insane considering Covid. Never again.
THIS is a professor you want to take at Oakland! Professor Sifonis is a very kind, funny, and overall passionate teacher to learn from. She is a fair grader, lectures are interesting, and work is average for a 3000 level class.
Professor Sifonis is extremely passionate, fun to work with, and a professor that makes your semester a breeze. The midterm and final are projects with extremely clear criteria. Her quizzes are all short answer but, are also open note. Discussions are relevant and fun to do. I have recommended this study of video games course to many students.
Special topic: psychology of video games. Weekly quizzes and discussion boards are no big deal. No exams but instead has two main assignments. One requires interviewing different generations on video game usage(required male and female of 4 different generations) and a paper on a video game topic of your choice. Room for polishing lectures/content
DO NOT TAKE. You will spend all of your time doing busy work. You have to download a video game (which barely loads on a computer), do discussion posts, papers, and quizzes. Quizzes get 3 attempts, but nothing comes from notes or book. Wish I would have switched out. There are no exams, but I spend all of my time on this class. Never again.
I have no idea where she gets her exam questions from because they're not from the lectures and they're not in the book. It's like looking at foreign material that we never went over.
The professor is unorganized. She sometimes struggles to answer questions that students have and puts assignments in Moodle for the wrong dates. She formats the tests wrong and right answers are marked incorrectly so you have to reach out to her. She doesn't have many tests or assignments to grade and waits until last minute to grade assignments.
This professor was not prepared for lecture. She was kind and thoughtful which made her an enjoyable person, but she was far from an enjoyable professor. Most classes you will show up more prepared than her. To be prepared on exams, know everything that was in the notes or articles or book that she requires for class, even details she didn't cover.
The dates are all from 2 years back, everything is extremely unorganized, did not reach back to several emails from months back. I am glad I ended up with a decent grade in this class but it was terrible. Please be careful when choosing your professors.
I highly suggest not taking this professor online. Some reasons include, a syllabus was never provided, only one from a few years ago that was outdated, no schedule was provided to look back on for upcoming HW assignments or exams, I was never able to reach the professor via email, and the course in itself was unorganized.
Very disorganized. A lot of class time was spent figuring out how to work the projector. Would repeat lectures even after being told we already did it. Tested on material we did not learn in class. Never responded to emails and would never answer questions transparently. She also graded incorrectly and took forever to correct it. Don't take.
This professor seemed like she didnt understand the content herself. When we asked her questions she seemed extremely confused but she is supposed to be helping us. It just ended up making the students even more confused and she seemed flustered and anxious all of the time. I had to teach myself the content to pass the course. Dont take her, trust.
I've taken Dr. S for 3 classes at OU & she's a nice person, however, not meant to be a professor. She's always lost & doesn't seem to know what's going on. Never gives clear answers when you ask her a question. Doesn't answer emails, you have to physically approach her. Take her class if you want an easy A, but you'll be lost all semester long.
Dr. Sifonis is very disorganized. She doesn't have any of the right due dates on Moodle. She doesn't have clear grading criteria and she is perpetually flustered. I am not fully sure if I have an A in the course because most of the grades are entered incorrectly. Avoid this professor.
Least professional teacher I have ever experienced. Failed to answer any of my several email questions and would say vague things in reply or just ignore the question outright. Expectations where none existent, material was dated from previous years in some cases, and class material seemed to be made up as we went along. DO NOT TAKE.
Literally the worst and most unorganized professor I ever had. Made things up as she went. Never knew what was happening. Never answered questions. Never answered emails and somehow I got a B+ in this class because of how unorganized she was. do not take her classes. It might be easy work but there is no promise for a good grade.
This professor frequently missed classes without notice, leaving students behind. Grading was inconsistent and a lot with errors, and attempts to address issues went unanswered. The lack of professionalism and support made it difficult to learn. I do not recommend taking this class.
Professor Sifonis is a passionate teacher, but her course can be quite challenging. While the lectures are engaging, the exams cover material beyond the textbook and lectures. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for extra practice and understanding the concepts.
