The subject material "interpersonal communications" was lame but if you just keep good notes its worth it if you can stand her giving attitude for no reason at times.
This class was not only VERY interesting, but VERY easy and Zuckerman's a good teacher. And really nice.

The class is boring but the material is very easy. The tests can be tricky though.
This teacher is well organized, and strives to make a difficult subject easier. She is willing to go the extra mile to help you and endeavors to make the class fun. She is approachable and down to earth and most importantly, she is fair. The tests are confusing sometimes but do-able.
She's a very eccentric lady, but she is nice. Her lectures SUCK and her tests are worse than her lectures, she doesn't really help with your assignments, she just says they're wrong in a nice way . . . If you're a guy you'll hate it, a girl won't mind her annoyingness as much
Great lecturer. Likes people who participate.
The bad this is this class is boring. The good thing is that she has no attendance policy, so you really don't have to go at all, as long as you keep up on your reading. All assignments can be submitted by WebCT. I am getting an A, and I have been to class maybe four times this semester. Study up before tests, because they're kind of tough.
i loved the class just because there was no attendence policy, but her tests SUCKED!!! no good at all, didn't make any sense and even when i studied my butt off, didnt do good!!
she was very entertaining and made the class interesting. the tests are pretty tough though. there was no attendance policy which was great even though i missed very few classes. the material was boring and the tests were difficult but she was pretty great. also, she likes to sing kids songs.
Attendance isn't required which is convenient. The material was common sense and the tests were easy. It only took about 20 minutes a test. Although I never attended class I got a good grade and she was still very pleasant towards me.
Gave unclear notes and was a poor lecturer. Gives several opportunities for extra credit.. take those! Her grading and clarity in pretty much everything is pretty ridiculous. Doesn't offer much help when asked questions.
Okay Professor. Lectures were often boring and she often explained one slide for 30 minutes. This would have been helpful but much of this material is straight forward. Not a difficult class but the tests can be confusing. You don't really need to read just memorize the key terms and you'll be fine.
She is a TERRIBLE teacher and possibly one of the most annoying human beings I have ever met. She rambles on about 1 slide and repeats herself over and over and over again. Being in her class made me want to commit suicide to end the suffering. Painfully boring, annoying, and dry, this class was a HUGE mistake. Test ?'s are poorly worded as well.
Mrs. Hyman is an awesome professor. She was my favorite at NCSU. Sometimes she can be a real sillster, which is what I liked about her the most.
Easy easy easy easy easy. Really, she elaborates a lot and may be repetitive but her class is seriously cake if you have half a brain. Highly recommend.
The class is really easy but pretty boring at times. She's a bit redundant when explaining information but she makes sure you understand it. I would recommend writing down what she says and the examples she gives because her powerpoints arent specific enough. Her tests are pretty easy as long as you pay attention in class. Didn't need the textbook.
I really disliked this Ms. Zuckerman. She was not clear at all, and I found her tests difficult even after diligently taking notes and studying them. She took a subject that is simple and made it difficult to understand. Take COM-110 instead!
She is funny and has entertaining stories. But she pauses a lot and repeats things over and over. "Image Distribution. So we have this idea of Image distribution. this idea of image distribution" that got on my nerves a lot, but the course is easy. you don't need the textbook, but you need an internet code to do the homework.
she is extremely boring
It's not that the material is hard or that she can't explain well, the problem is that she is very annoying, especially in the morning. And also, she is boring. So you want to fall asleep and die at the same time, which results in the inability to pay attention. Tests are poorly written.
Got an A in CH 101 and MA 241 (Calc 2) (and A's in all my other classes) and a B in her "easy" com. class. I studied and just didn't get the results and I think it's b/c her tests are written poorly and the fact that they count 90% of your grade. Pretty boring class, but the workload is easy. Out of a 200+ person class, only 9 got A's.=BAD
She is a decent teacher if you can stay awake in her class, but her tests are very difficult and the 3 exams and the 1 final make up 90% of your grade so I would recommend finding another section.
Tests were impossible. Don't take this class if you can help it.
She has moments where she's entertaining. I did fall asleep a few times just because the room is dim and warm. However the material is pretty easy if you study with examples, like her tests are. If you go ask her for help she is more than happy to give it. I even asked her for help with classes (I'm a communications major) and she was very helpful.
She's not a bad teacher and she doesn't require attendance. As long as you look at her study guides and know the terms you should be fine. Tests are tricky compared to other COM112 classes and she is a hard grader but she's fair with final grades and will bump you up if you do all homework. Overall not bad but there are easier teachers.
no attendence is clutch but her exams only covered all but a few concepts in the book that hardly help to effectively communicate.
Made A's and B's in all my classes freshman year but hers. Honestly if she's the only teacher available find another class and take COM 112 with ANY other teacher.
Teacher was annoying and did not teach well at all! I would recommend taking any other teacher besides her. Hard tests. Only good thing was attendance not required.
She was not helpful at all. Never took attendence and she cancelled class really often. Didnt grade homeworks until last day possible. NOT A GOOD COMMUNICATOR
I took her COM 112 class online, so I never actually met or interacted with her. The class was very easy taken online, I would recommend her online class but not her seated class.
The class/ tests were excessively easy. Keep up with the assignments and you'll be fine. She tends to repeat everything a couple times in different ways, but this is just to be sure that the material sinks in. She uses questions about Community on the exams, which is kind of cool. She's really helpful if you have questions.
She doesn't take attendance, but she does post them online - which I highly recommend because her class is boring as all get out. You'll know what I mean by listening to her lectures. Homework is on Connect, she only drops two of each kind; they're easy! Tests aren't too bad mainly concept questions, so just be sure to study.
Honestly, take another professor for COM112. Her lectures are super boring, attendance isn't required, and the material is easy except her test questions can be frustrating and misleading. If you ask me, material that is simple should not lead to tests that are so frustrating, but that's what you'll get with this class. Would not take again
Simple A. Material is easy to understand and tests were multiple choice and truefalse based off vocabulary words in book. I would not put a ton of effort into the written responses as a majority of grading feedback was given last-minute and seemed rushed and arbitrary. Overall, ironic that communication class suffers from lack of communication.
Going to class helps make all concepts a lot clearer and she presents the information in a very relatable way
Rough personality, but COM 386 was SUPER easy. Just show up (or don't) and you'll pass. Only had two tests; both were open book and you could work with people in class. One project instead of a final, but is super easy & work is spaced out over the semester (it is only a 15 minute group presentation). I don't think anyone got lower than an A or a B
Took the class to fill credit space in my last semester so didn't have a big interest in the class. Lectures were boring and there was no in-class participation and all lectures were recorded and posted online. If you review the vocab in the book and review her notes and you'll do fine.
4 tests and homeworks for each chapter are the only grades. She puts the notes online, but they are very vague so going to class helps a lot in understanding the notes. She is a bit dry and repeats herself a lot, but she uses good examples to help you understand. The tests are generally fair, and knowing the vocab well is key.
Really didn't enjoy this class. Lectures were extremely boring and tests were far tougher than they should have been. Don't buy the textbook you won't use it.
She's not bad, just boring tbh. The material is fun to read, her lectures aren't though. I just didn't care much for the class, so I was perfectly fine with a B+. I recommend just showing up for attendance then going back to sleep, and read the textbook later. If you actually "study" for the exams, you could easily get an A, I just didn't care.
I would definitely not recommend com 112 with Ms, Zuckerman. Her lectures are super boring and she puts her liberal political opinions in everything whether it be class examples or exams. Easy to get a decent grade in the class but I definitely would have taken it with another teacher if I could have.
She is extremely boring. Her power points are terrible, basically just outlines. She is a terrible teacher, you have to teach yourself the material. Weird quirk: She will repeat a sentence two or three times... verbatim. She will repeat a sentence two or three times... verbatim. She also insists upon telling terrible jokes in class, no one laughs
She is honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had. She is boring, her classes are pointless, she does not tell you any information needed for the tests and the tests are impossible. Avoid at all costs. I went to her office hours to try and get some study tips and she was very unclear and not helpful.
Great advisor but one of the most boring, monotone lecturers I have ever had! She subbed once in another one of my classes and I can confirm that it's her, not just this course. Her TA's do most of the grading and are pretty generous. I never read and rarely took notes but did well on tests because they are common-sensed based. Cancels class often.
Ms. Zuckerman is one of the worst profs I have had at NC State. She engages in "content-free" speaking - where she says a lot of words without actually saying anything at all. Her style of lecturing is not conducive to actual learning. She doesn't forge connections between concepts in a way that is meaningful or memorable. Don't take her!
Dr. Zuckerman records and posts her lectures, so that's amazing. There is minimal, fairly simple homework, but do it, bc it counts for a lot. The exams are fair. Attendance wasn't required but every class attendance counted for points.
She's a fine teacher, but grading takes a long time. Tests are also very hard, and she wants you to be able to apply the material instead of just knowing it. She's not a bad teacher, I just really did not see the point of the class, because it was about research within communication (but you have to take it). DON'T buy the textbook!
She is extremely boring in lecture, but such a nice person. The tests were quirky but didn't count for allot. Homework was easy and graded generously by TA's. You don't super need the course book, but you will do better if you get it. Cannot emphasize enough how boring the lectures are. But it isn't a difficult class at all.
I really enjoyed Ms. Zuckerman as a lecturer. Research isn't always the most interesting subject matter, but it's necessary to learn. She provides the best examples to help connect the dots & is always available for ?s. Her grading method is very clear, attendance matters, & optional extra credit is provided. She's also an excellent advisor :).
really really really boring lectures. tests questions are tricky, and she is a really boring presenter. just reads off of the slides. so boring, take online if you can.
Definitely a good professor if you need an easy A. She only gives three tests and assignments all semester but if you attend classes you'll be able to do them and get an A. She also offers extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester.
Although her lectures tended to be on the more dull side, she was very passionate about what she talked about and she definitely cares for her students. I would show up, do the tophat attendance code, and then work on other stuff. 4 exams (3 of which we got to collaborate with classmates) and weekly packbacks. Just study before the exam, easy A!
She's super kind and accessible, but her class is really boring. It's lecture heavy, but if you attend class then it's beyond easy to get an A! She also offers a lot of extra credit and the exams are group exams so it's hard to do poorly. Incredibly boring, but definitely easy. Hardly any homework as well.
10/10 would not recommend taking this course with this "professor." Lectures are a waste of time and gives no clarity on her grading. You would think if you teach communication, you would actually communicate with your students.
This was an 8 week hybrid class. There were lectures in class and videos outside of class. The content was interesting, but her style was very monotone and not engaging. Exams were take home, online, and open note. The textbook is listed as mandatory, but even she will tell you it is not necessary to get an A. It is an easy A, to get the COM credit
Professor Zuckerman is a professor whose presence demands respect, but she is there to help you learn, not to have fun. This course had a decent amount of work: we needed to post a paragraph and two responses weakly. However, all the tests were open book. It was a very easy course, if you payed attention during class. I did not use my book at all.
Honestly wasn't that hard of a class, but lectures were soo boring. There were so many people knocked out during lectures. The exams weren't too difficult, and the final was done between peers, so that was relatively easy.
Best COM112 professor- extremely easy don't even have to know the material to get an A. Just 3 tests and 1 relatively easy essay. Do not purchase the textbook- you won't need it. Very nice teacher who understands that most of us are taking this course as a GEP.
Her lectures are boring, yes. But this is also the easiest class I have like literally ever taken. Would do it a million times over for the easy A. I don't think its really even her fault either, the content is really easy as well.
I liked how this course was focused on engaging with the material in an interesting, practical way rather than earning a particular grade. The assignments mainly involved posting to an online discussion forum which allowed many fascinating discussions to develop. Just listen to the lectures and you should be fine. No need for the textbook.
Concepts are easy to understand. No need for a textbook. All recorded lectures cover all concepts. They are a little long but provides good examples of concepts. Attendance is recorded through Packback weekly discussion. You will write a paper using concepts learned which is not hard. Tests questions apply the concepts learned but not hard.
Prof Zuckerman isn't too bad, her lectures can be dry, but as long as you take a little bit of notes and actually watch the lectures, you'll be fine. Online asynchronous was only about two hours of work a week for me so it was very manageable.
Here's a breakdown of your grade: 40% Packback posts (1Q + 2 responses for 6 weeks), 15% final exam paper (apply concepts learned in class), 45% three exams (just take notes on her lectures + examples and you should be OK). Bonus points are from Packback sparks and extra posts. MUCH EASIER + understanding than other profs, don't buy textbook.
Really easy class asynchronously. Just have to be on top of packbacks and lectures. Exams weren't too bad if you understood the lectures and lectures were fun and engaging!
I don't like this Professor at all! She gives extremely difficult quizzes and too much materials that I didn't find in her lectures were on the Test. Please, don't take her
Just pay attention and do your work and it's an easy class
Great professor, even as an 8-week course the workload was light. (1-2 hours of lecture per week). Lectures can be slightly boring and the moodle was a little messy but it's nothing detrimental. Tests are easy if you pay attention to the examples in the lectures and the final paper is straightforward if you follow the very detailed guidelines.
I had Professor Zuckerman for an 8-week online section of COM 112. The workload wasn't bad at all. Her tests were multiple choice, and her lectures covered anything that would be on the test, so take good notes! She provided extra supplemental materials if you were curious about anything but was clear about what we needed to know vs not know.
She's a very nice professor. She contacted me to confirm she received my accommodation letter and sent reminders when exams were coming up. Exams are open book and open note, so it's difficult not to do well unless you don't watch the lectures. The only things that kept me from an A+ were not starting the final essay sooner and not doing the EC.
Probably the easiest COM class you could take, took this as an 8-week online class and as long as you do the weekly discussions which aren't very long, you'll be good.
Her "lecturing" is overly obtuse word vomit, e.g., "When we think about the self, one of the things is that it is multifaceted, and it is also multifaceted in ways in which it can have variations within a context. So you might see yourself in one context as there's not a lot of components that you would put into that particular aspect." like what?!
Class was super easy. It was also a short class, the work was all done by the end of Feb. 1 1500 word essay and 6 weekly discussion posts. This was the type of class where you get busy work and get graded on that. Awesome class, 1000% recommend.
Lectures are crazy boring and long, but taking notes is important for tests. Some test questions are bizarre and aren't answered in lectures. Otherwise, only discussion posts and end of course paper. It was bearable because it was only 8 weeks but can't imagine being in the course any longer. Lots and lots of lectures that just aren't interesting.
8-week class. Very little work.
Easiest A+ class. Not a lot of work and it is only 8 weeks.
Very easy class. Communications is a boring subject and I honestly never paid attention to the lectures, but it was an 8-week class and very easy, definitely worth taking. Probably spent about 1.5 hours a week on the class. Easy A+.
I took this online, and the only assignments were a once-weekly discussion board, a couple quizzes, one one essay at the end of the 8-week course. Super easy class; would highly recommend taking Zuckerman!
I took this as a summer 1 course, material was hardly posted in a timely manner, no feedback is given on assigments, and lectures were very monotone. Packback was used which is nice and the exams are easy but I found it all to be very boring.
Easiest communication class you can take. Yes take this class. Communication is obviously going to be boring but there is little to no work in this class. She is very sweet, responds to emails, and clearly loves the subject.
