He only changed his name so that students would not know who he was and would take his classes thinking they will actually learn math!
He is not a good professor. Start out with 30 students, down to 20, and only 10 passing. You do the math!!
I never had a problem with him. His speech is a little hard to understand but he presents the material well and is willing to help if you're willing to learn. Better than most of schools prof's.
i was having a hard time passing his quizzes, which are really hard, so i went to him for help. when i went, he made me feel stupid. do not take him if you want to actually pass math.
This class could have been a lot easier with a different instructor. When I would ask a question during class, he would pick on the student who asked the question thru the rest of the class. Alot of studnets dropped, and half the class were not passing!
I wish that I could let everyone know what an awful experience that you will have while taking this professor. Rating him with a 1 is too high!
He is the worst prof I have ever had. He singles out students who don't do well, or who miss class for any reason. He is very hard to understand and speaks really fast. If I had known about him before hand, I would have definitely looked into getting a new prof! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
Overall my experience with Dr. Aryana has been postive. He is one of the most dedicated profs here. He is little hard to understand, but you get used to it. He is always willing to help. Do your book work, and occasionally visit the Math Resource Center, and you will be fine.
I am an honors student: out of all the college courses I have ever taken, he is the absolute WORST professor I have ever had. He degrades students; he insists you do it his way, even when there are easier, better ways; he cannot do problems himself; his tests are ridiculous; he is AWFUL! AVOID HIM!
This man is CRAZY! He is absolutely the worst professor ever! He grades based on if he likes you or not and he will talk about you if you don't go to class. He's not only a bad professor, but a MEAN person! Don't ask questions in class because he will make you feel super dumb. Math is good he's bad
Dr. Aryana is an OK prof - you really have to pay attention in class and do really well on the quizzes to pass, but he can be very nice and also funny. If you dont like math - take statistics class.
The worst teacher I have ever had. Previous rating was correct when they said only half the class passed. He teaches himself, go's way too fast and puts material on his tests that you didn't even go over in the homework or on his review sheets. I do not recommend this teahcer to anyone.
Do not take this man. Very hard and unfair. After the second test he said "I know that most of you are not getting this but we must keep moving on" then most of the final was on this test. Not a teacher.
HORRIBLE! DO NOT TAKE
If you do not like math and do not need much and don't care about learning, just want to get by, don't take him. If your going into something that you need math, take him and work hard. He's a good teacher, but you need to work hard. If your a math or ME major, take him, it will help you later.
The problems u have in class don't show up on his exams! so u don't know what to study you have to try very hard and pay attention in class and never be late or skip a class, because he'll single u out in front of the whole class and pick on u! Avoid him if you can!

Just finished a 2nd undergrad degree + have a masters. Of ALL my classes at various universities, he is by FAR the absolute WORST, most UNFAIR, MEAN-SPIRITED prof I have ever had! Worst of all, he thinks he's fabulous. AVOID, RUN AWAY, even if it means taking another semester, DO NOT take ANY class from this BOZO. If you do, you've been warned!!!!
don't take him he is very mean. He called me over christmas break to tell me that i failed the corse, i was at my gf family party and he call said it was a emergancy. The only reason that he failed me is because i did so good on the final he thought that i must have cheated. I appealed it and passed, but he is very mean prof don't take!!!!!
Giving him a 1 for his rating is too generous. He is the WORST Professor I have ever had. Avoid him even if you have to wait a semester to take the class with someone else. You will just be wasting your money otherwise.
Hard teacher, but if you work at it you will learn. Be prepared to study. Accent is a little hard to understand at first. I had him for a couple of other classes and wasn't as bad as everyone is saying. Just remember, this is college, and the math professors will expect you to work and study.
I'm not going to waste time tell you how bad this guy is the other negative comments you read I would have to say are all true.
He is awful. Very insensitive. It's either his way or no way even if you have the right answer. Don't waste your time.
This class was the worst experience of my life. I worked harder than I ever have, and got nothing out of it. I seriously studied over 30 hrs for a test and got a C. I am a straight A studnet. Avoid this class at all costs. I suggest that anyone and everyone avoid this professor.
This teacher is smart, but absolutely does not have any common sence and grade bad. I First week of class, he already tell me he afraid tell me that i might not get a good grade. I work hard on this class to proof him wrong, but the result is C. This is the first C in my life in math. DONT TAKE HIM.
This Professor is awful! None of his work in class helps to clarify questions on the homework or to prepare you for exams.
He is the worst teacher that I ever had. He does not know what he is talking about when he is teaching. The class always has to correct him. When he is teaching something and you have a question he will say that we are not there yet and never answers the question. If he does answers the question it makes no sence and only confuses you more.
Hard class. He did an ok job teaching but the material did get very confusing and sometimes he had a hard time explaining it in a way for me to understand. He is a very nice guy though and is willing to help students. I had him help me a few times and worked very hard and I think he raised my grade for me as a result because I ended with an A.
Dr. Aryana was an okay teacher overall. However, this class would be too difficult for beginning algebra students. In general, you will do math that you've never done before (e.g., lots calculus). I was always confused about everything and to make matters worst the professor would make many mistakes on the board while teaching.
worst teacher i've ever had. end of story.
Aryana is not a good teacher at all he mumbles during lectures and is not clear at instructions, makes to many mistakes that confuse people
He is a bad professor. Makes a lot of mistakes and is unfair.
he was horrible i am avoiding him for the next four years if i can!!
This professor was not that bad. He is hard to understand, but if you do the homework and study guide.. and understand how to do the problems.. you will do fine bc the same type of problems on the study guide appear on the test.. He also puts a bonus problem on the test which helps out a lot..
Absolutely the worst professor. There were times where we would get a test and there were no problems similar to what we were doing for the weeks before on the test. He is hard to approach and I corrected his homework 3 times in the semester because his questions made the problem unsolvable.
This is a class you HAVE to do all the recommended work and definately get help outside of class. If you're willing to work hard, you'll do great
Terrible! I had to drop the class I could not understand him, his homework problems often had mistakes!!!
Very difficult to follow. Speaks with a strong accent. Curves all the tests. Homework is graded and he goes very indepth into it. Penmanship a must, keep things in order. DO NOT BE SLOPPY!
Do not take this guy! After reading comments I decided to anyway, it was a huge mistake. He is extremely difficult to understand and he talks about students when they are absent.
The guy has a good heart and wants to help, but he is very poor at explaining things during class lecture. Also hard to understand and makes errors frequently. I basically just went to class and did the assigned problems instead of listening. Only one homework assignment a week, and the tests aren't too hard. Can be very picky when grading.
Yes he was hard but he really wants you to learn and if you actually go to is offic and try to ask for help he will help. He does have a heavy accent but it is not that bad. You may not get an A but a B or C is just as good. He will challange you and personaly i think I am better off for that.
The text for my stats class was $180 and the only reason I ever opened the book was to look at the 4 tables in the back...He tries to help you understand although trying to communicate is frustrating.
He has a HORRIBLE time communicating with students. He says one thing but really means something else. He is ALWAYS right and will let you know it. He puts students down constantly. He will curve tests IF necessary and one worksheet is assigned weekly. I would not recommend this professor to my worst enemy. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
He does have an accent but he isn't hard to understand. If anything his accent should prepare you for life in the workforce with different cultures. All test questions are from the homework, so it's very easy to prepare for them and you don't need to memorize formulas because he gives them to you. Also gives you notes for every chapter.
he was so unclear! he always made mistakes when he would teach! students had to correct him constantly. he doesn't reply to his e-mail but still finds time to send them. He wants you to come to his office just to ask a minor question. FLAT OUT HE IS AWFUL and in need of a teaching class especially at an college!
If you have taken Trig in high school, this class is not that hard. He curves all the tests pretty much and other than being picky on how to format homework, it is very easy. He does have an accent but he is not hard to understand. Celebrate!
He is very particular, to a point that it becomes ridiculous. However, he does allow for opportunities to correct mistakes. (i.e. make your work look EXACTLY like his) Apart from that, he is a good professor. His examples make sense, and you will not be surprised by the tests.
He is very picky about your work and will mark you down for any little thing you do "wrong." I tried to argue with his grading once and got no where. He makes tons of mistakes while working on the board and it takes many of us to get him to see and correct them. I hated the class. None of the homework was due but daily quizzes were always there.
I thought this class was very easy. He does every problem on the board that will show up in your quizzes. There are everyday quizzes but they just make the tests so much easier. Great, easy class, i got an A without putting much effort into it.
He is very picky on how problems are done, he will mark you down for the tiniest mistake. He is hard to understand, he talks a million miles a minute and is horrible at teaching, he doesn't like to explain why things are a certain way he just expects you to go along with everything and half of the time his work in the board is wrong!
HE DOES NOT ALLOW CALCULATORS!!! avoid this class unless you already know how to preform all calculations! He expects you to memorize all the equations and formulas. Always makes mistakes and argues his methods vs what you have already learned. Waste of money.
He was very...interesting. The way he conducted class was different, for sure. Many times he would contradict himself with what he was explaining. While he was difficult to understand the tests were right off of the quizzes, while the exams were right off the tests. That made things a lot easier.
I found him to be rude and impossible to talk to. He will talk his own point but not listen to yours. He marks you down for things that really don't matter and it's his way or no way. He's petty and vindictive.
Although he means for the best, he is very difficult to understand. I find that when he is writing problems on the board, his brain is going a mile a minute, & that results in him mixing up a lot of numbers, which ultimately leads to the wrong answer. He gives out weekly quizzes. He tries to help with questions, he is hard to understand sometimes.
He means well, but he doesn't know how to teach very well in my opinion. He makes a lot of little mistakes, and can't figure out why his answers are wrong. Plus, he doesn't allow you to use calculators, which is frustrating when you've used them your entire math career. I like him as a person, but not as a teacher.
I am bad in math already and he doesn't even let us in the lowest level of math class use calculators which is very difficult for us in this class when we already struggle with math. He makes so many mistakes and doesn't listen to your opinion. I hate the quizzes we get every class.
Homework and tests very hard, but tests are very similar to the homework so you know what to expect. I really liked him and his class. He gave lots of examples. Only complaint is that he did not do his own exams before giving them to us so sometimes there were crazy answers that made you think you did the problem wrong.
He grades hard, and he talks and goes over information extremely fast. If you're not good in math I beg you go to another professor. Consider yourself """WARNED"""".
Does not teach the material conceptually. He merely does example problems the entire time and rarely does them correctly. The quizzes are graded with unreasonable scrutiny. Be sure to do everything exactly as he does. Except for all of the mistakes.
Very picky on grading- if you do the problem right but not the way he wants it done, you won't get any credit on it. He also seems to think that everyone in Math 103 is going to be taking Calc, so he claims that he is 'Prepping' us for a calculus class. He is rude at times.
Nice guy but terrible teacher.
Really hard class. He wants you to do every problem exactly how he does it and he makes mistakes during the lectures. Good luck.
Not going to lie, he is tough. I was a 4.0 student in high school and I struggled. Homework isn't graded. There are many quizzes, some which are "take home" quizzes and 3 tests followed by a final. He allows you to drop your 2 lowest quiz grades, which isn't much and he curves tests barely. Celebrate!!!!
If you are looking for a professor who is going to disrespect students, and make it very clear that he is far superior to you...This is the class you should take. If you are truly interested in being educated, and learning Math, then I would advise you to select a different professor. Refuses to help you outside of class and will not negotiate.
Do yourself a favor, and DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He is disrespectful, will not listen to your questions or concerns, thinks everyone is an engineer major, and grades ridiculous. I did all of the assignments in the tutoring center and still got most of things wrong. I am a 4.0 student, and this class is awful.
Well, he thinks your questions are stupid... so good luck with that. He does not give you credit for right answers, even when you show your work. If you miss class or are absent for ANY reason he will belittle you in front of the entire class. Good luck!
If you have registered for a class with this professor drop it IMMEDIATELY! He is a full blown butt hole, he is very very rude. If you miss his cass he don't want to hear an excuse even if you are in the hospital. WORST TEACHER EVER, very difficult speed through work and has very sarcastic remarks. I wish I wouldve saw this website before I had him
If you are given the option for another professor, TAKE THEM HE IS THE WORST! He is very rude and careless. He don't need to be teaching, he is very hard if you ask for help he criticizes you so much to the point you want to punch him in the face! NEVER IN LIFE TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU HAVE PATIENCE AND NO FEELINGS! Please read about your future Prof's
Horrible professor. He will make fun of you in class if you ask a question. He is completely rude and does not care if you fail. Extremely hard grader, do not take him as a professor!
I ended up taking the class in the Summer semester so take this with a grain of salt. I'm sure that Dr. Aryana knows his stuff, the only problem is that he can't seem to explain anything very well. He frequently makes mistakes in his work which would be fine if he wasn't such a stickler for doing everything just like he does. Avoid him if possible
This was the absolute worst professor I have ever encountered at any school. Not only was he hard to understand but he wouldn't help if you had questions of any kind. On our first test I got every single answer correct yet I still received an 80% because I didn't write out my work the way HE believes is right. I dreaded going to his class. AVOID!!
Without a doubt, avoid this professor. He grades tests unbelievably hard. It is impossible to get 100 percent. Even if you get the answer right, he will mark it wrong because he wants everything his way. He is also absolutely terrible at explaining problems and makes countless mistakes while solving them. Very rude. Don't take.
He is the hardest teacher i've ever had in my life. 8 people have dropped out of my class alone. Way too difficult. Do not take this class if you want an A, unless you're a genius and can do everything his way.
Professor Aryana made me dislike math, and I've always loved it. He constantly makes mistakes then asks "Who did that?" He is hard to follow, and his grading on homework is terrible. Unless you're perfect, which no one is for him, expect to only get a 20/20 on your homework like once or twice in the whole class. Do yourself a favor and avoid him.
Cyrus Aryana is not THAT bad of a professor, though I would not recommend him. Perfect scores are highly impossible, even if you get the correct answers. Instead of teaching, he often does problems at the end of the section in which we have no clue as to what he is doing. However, his reviews have all test content and are extremely helpful.
Aryana was an interesting professor. Very nice at times, other times he seemed to be rude. But I believe this was partly due to cultural differences. Overall, the class is doable. Make sure you pay attention to how he writes out his problems because you will be marked down if you don't write it out the way he wants it written.
First I would like to say I love math and have never gotten lower than a A-. On day 2 of his class I asked a question because he was difficult to understand and he started yelling at me. When I tried to rephrase my question he interrupted me and told me it was not what I meant at all. He continued to yell at me so I packed up my things and left.
This class is rough. I had taken Precalculus in high school and had a pretty good understanding and still had a rough time in here. If you don't answer the questions step-by-step, he will take points of, even if your answer is correct. Aryana is not a very good teacher and this is coming from a good student. Avoid if you can, you will be happy.
I cannot stress this enough, do not take it. If you did, drop it. During this course he has made 3 students cry in class. 2 shouting matches and the class now only has 10 students. I struggle in this class because he is picky and completely incapable of teaching students. Awful.
Honestly, if you can get out of this class, please do. Started with over 30 students, ended with 10 who only stayed in the class because they would lose scholarships if they dropped. I don't think a single person is passing the class. Hard to follow, makes frequent mistakes, and will mark you down on every little thing.
I made an account specifically to warn anyone about this teacher. The worst teacher I know. Example: he told the class to tell him if they needed him to slow down. A kid asked him to, he got angry. Getting help from outside sources is useless because even if your answers are right, they aren't. Dropped this class, right choice on my part.
One of the worst classes I have taken. He will mark you down on the smallest of things, even if your answer is correct. He constantly makes mistakes on the board, then doesn't take credit for them, asking "who did that? I didn't do that." He even told the class after a test that if they didn't do very well, they should just drop the course.
I am from China and I am good at Math. But this teacher make me feel this course is so so so hard. He have strong accents and I do not know why SVSU want hiring this bad math teacher. He argue with student so bad in the class and so rude for students. If you take it after saw these valuable and usefull suggestions, then you deserved to the hard tim
First of all, my class had an ending size of 7 people. His errors were ones that anyone could make, but when pointed out he would argue that we didn't understand the problem. A friend talked to him about signing off for a private tutor. He was told that he didn't deserve to pass the class. This professor cannot be fired SO DO NOT TAKE HIM.
One of the worst classes I have taken. He will mark you down on the smallest of things, even if your answer is correct. He constantly makes mistakes on the board. He is very rude and likes to argue with students. Went from 29 students to 12 by the second day then to 9 by the end of the semester. If you can avoid taking him do. You will HATE him.
good in teaching the class but really hard to deal with
His passion and respected for the founders of algebra is notable. He expects quality work. However, I do not care for the fact that he interrupts students when asking questions, and his criticisms are not constructive in any sense of the word. Final verdict, get a different professor. If all others are full put off the class a semester.
He has a strong accent, so it's very difficult to understand him at times. My biggest issue with his is that as a class, we correct 90% of the problems he writes on the board, and when we do homework, I may have the same answer as the person next to me but I will get it wrong... VERY INCONSISTANT.
This class is extremely difficult. If you skip class or don't understand something, you will fail. He likes things done HIS way, and will mark you down if you don't. He is an EXTREMELY picky grader, but I got the hang of it after a couple weeks and did okay. Difficult class, but not impossible. Follow along with the lectures and ask questions.
Worst class I have ever taken. He is very picky, and will not listen when you ask questions. He does simple math wrong and the class constantly has to correct him. I confronted him many times about different techniques to solving problems and he does not listen or care, and will dismiss you away. Horrible person and professor.
Let me preface this with I am the son of a math prof and I had him look over two homework assignments and confirm that it was done correctly. I turned it in and got only half the points due to it being in a format he didn't like. He knows his method very well but will only allow that his method be used. Makes frequent mistakes on the board.
Never take this professor. I had him check my work to make sure everything was correct and he said yes, but when I turned it in I got a 19/30. Everything has to be done his way or its wrong. Very strict on notation. if you miss class you will fail. very rude, he has cut me off every time I go to ask a question, so I just stopped asking.
This is by far the worst Prof I have ever had. Even if you do every single problem correct, you will fail the homework with no explanation. He does every problem in the board wrong, gets angry when we correct him, but yells at us when we don't. He is horrible, drop this class if you still can.
You have a correct answer and it doesn't matter because he will fail you for little or no reasoning. If you do something that doesn't follow his exact path then you are wrong. The worst part is he only has a Doctorate in Philosophy from what I've seen.
Never get this professor as your math professor. He does not know how to teach, and does not deserve to be teaching.
Literally the worst person I have ever met, professor or not. He does not respect his students and will yell at them if you ask a question. He gets every problem on the board wrong, and teaches you nothing. Even if you do every problem on the homework right, you somehow will still fail. Do yourself a favor and avoid him at all costs.
You will lose lots of points on notation, even if you seek advice from him about it. Basically, any deviation fron his answer key is points off, even if you are right. No notes or calculators on tests, you need to memorize all the integration and derivative tables.
All of these ratings are exactly correct. DROP THIS CLASS WHEN YOU CAN.
A very rude professor. He grades every paper differently. My partner and I copied our homework exactly like each others and he got a B on it and I got a D. He told me I didnt do the steps right. You can barely understand this prof due to his heavy accent. We started with 26 kids and ended with 10. Stay away from him
You have to be patient with him, then hopefully you'll understand where he is coming from. It took a while getting used to his style. But he is a nice guy.
Please do not take this class if you can. I came into the class with a 3.5 GPA Cumulative and stood no shot at passing it. He makes it impossible to pass tests, he will take points away from every little thing he doesnt like. No calculators on anything, Quizzes every week. He is very rude and disrespectful towards many students. Beware of him.
Details have to be the way he likes it. Very hard to pass and I recommend avoiding this class.
Dr. Aryana is probably the worst teacher ever. I don't know how he still has a job with the way he teaches. You cannot understand him because of his accent and how he constantly talks into the board. He gets every single problem wrong he does on the board, and gets mad when we don't correct him. We started with 30 kids and ended with 10.
We started the class with 20+ people and ended the class with only a handful. This professor has a thick accent and speaks only to the board. Do not ask questions because you will not get the answer, you will only get shamed for either being wrong or for speaking up. Rudest professor I've ever met, do not take his class!
