Really tough. Sometimes I think he wished he was teaching at Harvard and settled for making our lives miserable at VCC. Overall, I liked him. He shared his life shortly with me, and I admire him for how far he has made it in his life.

Very good professor! He knows what he is talking about! Expect to study to pass. Moderately hard, but not unfair! He grades very fairly! Once you get into the semester you realize how relaxed he really is! I would recommend him, only if you want to learn.

There is a lot of information that you need to read and retain if you want to do well! His class is passable, however, his course structure is complex. From what I understand he may be the best U.S. Gov professor at VCC.

Easy class, just make sure you go because you have mini quizes at every class but they are very easy. Good techer to take.

I recommend this professor. He's passionate about the subject. He taught me more than 6 years ago and he made an impact in my life.He challenges your thinking. Yes he is opinionated, but most Americans are. F.Y.I he's an attractive man.

Great Professor, Hard Class. his lectures are interesting, you have daily quizzes tho, tests are multiple choice and choice of 1 out of 4/5 essays. didn't like the group project, b/c the majority of my group was lazy, so we had to make up for it.

Great Proffesor, but the class is very hard. I'm an A student, but could only pass the class with a C. If you like a chalange you'll like this class.

Most of the time I am a straight A student, but I struggled through to make a B. It wasn't so much that he was tough but you had to be in class to take notes and for the quizzes at the beginning of each chapter. It is important to read the chapters!!!!

He is great teacher if u like a challenge. He is very helpful when in comes to people asking for help, you will learn alot from his class. He doesn't give anyway free A's, youe have to work for them.

A wellspring of knowledge, Prof. Duncan gave excellent lectures. He is way too much of a stickler for attendance and adherence to rules, but he has a sense of humour. Watch out! His tests are very subjective!

word of advice: take this class with a friend and have them sit next to u.. u change quizzes with the "person next to u".. btw his quizzes are every week so it makes a difference in the end ;)

Professor knows his stuff & explains lectures clearly. Tests/quizzes are based on class notes but they can be tricky. Class attendance is a must. This teacher randomly picks on ppl during lecture when he asks question pertaining to a topic thats why u must come prepared.

His lectures are good, and I like that he has a lot of class participation, but the tests are VERY tricky, sometimes covering things that seem trivial or ignored in lectures. Beware of his group powerpoint presentation!

He's a very good teacher, when it comes to lecturing. Listen to every detail, and make sure you monitor the media, because he will question u guys about it. Make sure u do all the extra credit, and projects in his class.

His class is easy as long as you listen to the lectures and take notes. He also has his classes keep up with the news and media. And take detailed notes because on tests he includes questions that deal with little details that one might ignore during the lecture.

He is the type of teacher that wants you to learn as much as possible and will have fun teaching you. I hate everything about the government but I never wanted to fall asleep in this class. He pops jokes and tries to make it fun! I definetly recommend this teacher if you hate the government!

Two words for Prof. Duncan: knowledgeable and Professional. All of his lectures are well prepared PP presentations and he is very courtius. Be prepared to learn though, his class is nothing for lazy guys! He will ask EVERYONE in class about the subject matter so u better study! He gives a 4 point quiz every class on key terms and 4 exams in total.

I do not like politics, but he made it enjoyable. Come to class prepared to be educated. Study the key terms because u will be tested at least 2x a week. He grades the essay portion of his exams tough. Must include current political issues in test essay section to get the top grade. He has extra credit opportunities & a group project.

So nice. Very helpful. Group powerpoint project is a pain when you get stuck with people who will nto work but still manageble. Do the HW or suffer consequences. Plan to take him again for another class. So interesting and the tests are easy if you put in any effort.

Is a good teacher,work is not hard. Likes to call out people at random so be ready to answer any questions. Study key terms because there will be a quiz almost every class. Good prof! Teaches well and has a lot of knowledge in government. If you pay attention and read the key terms you should do fine. His project is a little unclear but the other grades make up for it. Quiz almost every day on the chapter's bold words. The essays for the tests are given beforehand and he drops the lowest test grade of 4!

A great teacher and really into the subject. Tries different teaching styles and won't let you space out or pretend you're not there! It's all part of the class at hand and interaction is crucial. Read the chapters, study the vocab, participate in class, and suffer through the group project (it can suck) and you're golden. Would def take again!

He knows his stuff! His lectures cover the test material- listen, take notes, look over them before the test, and you're good to go! Although he is extremely short with students when they have questions, he is alltogether a good teacher.

His lectures are engaging and very interesting. He does like to randomly select students for an answer, but this makes the lectures even more interesting. His tests are not easy and essay topics are not "stock", so anyone who is genuinely interested in this subject will be challenged and thrive in his class.

Great teacher!!! Gives quizzes every day but they only help engage you in the course. Test are somewhat difficult but if you like a challenge and keep up with the notes and quizzes you are sure to get get a good grade, and if you do you are exempt from the final!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I took this as an honors course. He's a great teacher but be warned TAKE GOOD NOTES IN CLASS!!! 95% of the test materials are class notes. Also, figure out examples for everything on the test. The examples will make or break you.

His class is well structured, he even gives you a study guide. Failure to prepare is preparing to fail (his words), and its too true. This is the fourth college i've attended (travel alot) and he's the best teacher i've run across....not for slackers!

Good class, he keeps it interesting but you need the book and you need to take really good notes. Professor Duncan was very helpful but this is a hard class especially in Honors. I would recommend this class but make sure that the student knows it will take a lot of work. GOOD LUCK!!

First, this is an easy A+ if you read the chapters and do a little bit of studying before each test. He expects your participation in class and he expects you to back up your opinions. No one is ever criticized or made fun of in class (as some have stated). It is too bad not all the teachers at Valencia love the subject they teach.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. He loves teaching and explains everything really well. If u wanna take him though, make sure you take good notes! There are 4 tests but he drops one of the grades. There's also a group project and quizzes almost every class. Quizzes are very easy, quotes from the keywords in the book. Easy A if you work hard.

I absolutely hate Political Science but I loved this my US gov. class b/c of this professor. He is extremely intelligent and doesn't putup with nonsense. You will work, but it's actually an interesting class. He is a very easy going professor. One of the best teachers I have ever had. He earned my respect. HUAH SGT.

This professor is very intelligent. You must read the book and keep up on current events. He will call on you randomly during class to see it you read or to ask your opinion. Tests require a lot of studing and comprehension of the material but he is funny and holds your attention.

Duncan is an awesome teacher. His lectures are interesting so the time flies by fast. Listen and take notes on everything he says and if you can the SL sessions are the best thing in the world. the vocab test are easy if you have common sense,& the tests are easy if you study both the book and his lectures. by the way there are lots of group work

If you just listen/participate in his discussion and halfway memorize ten or so words a week for his quizzes, you're pretty much set on getting no less than a B. He has a lot of extra credit opportunities available. Great teacher.

I learned so much in this class! Not the easiest, but if you show up, and do the work, participate, he's a great teacher.

He is an okay teacher, but make sure you get to class on time or you will miss the class quizzes!! Don't ask him questions not pertaining to the class lecture because he may not know the answer.

Hard but makes class extremely interesting. If you like govt, you'll like duncan. Follow these steps for an A. Show up on time for 4 question vocab quizzes everday. They add up. Read and do extra credit. Group project can urt you if you don't prepare. just do more than you have to and you'll be alright for that.

Professor Duncan is a fair teacher. Study the key terms for the vocab quizzes. Pay attention and take notes on class discussions on the ch. If you are having an issue with the group project talk to him BEFORE it is due! He also lets the class grade the group projects, either individually, or as a whole. Offers bonus points thru the semester.

GREAT PROFESSOR! He doesn't sugar coat and alot of people find that hard to understand. He is a fair grader and does give alot of extra credit throughout the course. Will make the subject matter interesting. Highly recommended!

a very cool guy, but his class is a nightmare. His test are very difficult. If you do take him it is possible to get an "A" just do learn the key terms (quiz every other day) do the EXTRA CREDIT, and use your common sense during the exam. If you average is a B on the test you can get an A with the EC. its a cool class just impossible to get an "A"

He's a really nice teacher, he cares about his students. He uses humor in his classes to make it more interesting, attendance isnt mandatory but very much needed to pass the class. i had a F at one point in the class but got a B with extra credit. Study and do group work and you'll do really well.

Mr Duncan was a very intelligent teacher who knew what he was teaching about, although his test were hard at times if you just paid attention and took some notes the class would be easy.

Mr Duncan is an awesome prof! His class is easy if you take notes. The only thing I hated was the essay question on the tests! He makes you ready the chapters but doesn't really use the book. He's funny, but he takes some getting used to. He's one of the best profs I've had!

This class is pretty difficult. The material on the tests fluctuates and is not clearly conveyed to the student. Chapter tests are over-analytical, almost opinion-based. I Recommend taking someone else.

D Dunc's US govt class is a challenge. You really only need to focus on his lectures, he explains everything on the tests, its just the students responsibility to grasp the concepts. 4 tests, 10 quizes, group project and extra credit. I got a B without the textbook. Funny Funny GUY

This class is pretty challenging, every morning you have a quiz (5 questions). if you read the book and pay attention in class you will be fine. u read a lot in this class.

teacher is very helpful. hes big on making sure everyone gets a fair chance at passing the class. would so take a class with him again. if you ever can enjoy a class with him. ps. i did it as a military wife over in germany, with a 3year old and pregnant. so for any parent or full time worker. this class class should be a good one for you.

He was a very good teacher, if you did not get an A- you didn't work hard enough. He was straight forward with what he expected and for those saying that he graded too harshly, didn't follow directions very well. The slight difficulty came from the tests, but getting an A overall with all the extra credit he handed out was easy. I recommend.

Excellent teacher. Those who complain are the ones who do not do the work. Do the work, study, do the extra credit, and show up to class, at the end of the semester you will be rewarded with the grade that you deserved through your work.

He's really nice and respectful and he gives it to you straight about the government. He tries his best to make sure you have a fair chance at passing. If you just read the textbook you can pass, but it's easier just to go to class and listen to his lectures just stay awake or he'll tease you.

Great professor he is lecture heavy but they do make you think. The text book is a must wont pass if you don't have it, lots of vocabulary words his test are on blackboard and range from 40 to 70 questions. Day of the test there is no class but test MUST BE TAKEN DURING CLASS HOURS! Be ready to discuss the chapters read and have group conversations

He's organized and offers lots of extra credit. Class is not mandatory but will help a lot when taking the notes for the test.

Simple.. do the work and you pass no problem with A++... Simple don't know how you can fail.. so many extra credits it's not even funny.

This class is more about the structure of politics rather than the politics that is happening in the world at the moment. He will not talk about a certain leader but will teach you different ideologies being practiced around the world. If you want to talk about news, then join a political club at the college (if there isn't one then start your own)
