This is an extremely difficult professor, she says she won't curve the exams either. Her teaching style is hard to follow, and she does not explain the solutions for problems well. She reads off a piece of paper and writes that down on the board for notes,no enthusiasm and very boring.Tests are VERY HARD.I would take someone else if I were you.
I have the feeling this professor is straight out graduate school and has not developed an adequate teaching style yet. All she does is read off a piece of paper and shows no enthusiasm. Her explanations make no sense and while she does know her stuff, she doesn't know how to convey it. Exams are brutal. Take another professor before its too late!
Decently helpfull office hours, bad lecturer, tricky tests, no curve. Prepare to self teach. Try to avoid.
Bad teacher. Her notes are okay, but she doesn't explain things well. When she writes on the board it's all over the place. She says do problem sets and it's like the exam, but it's not. She tricks you on the exams and doesn't curve even when class does bad. VERY BORING. Don't take her if you can.
ok. this is her first time teaching-which is the summer session. Everyone below is referring to that. Obviously the summer is going to go fast and the material will seem difficult. But, the professor REALLY tried to make it simple. The problem sets are exactly what the exams are like. LOOK THEM OVER BEFORE EXAMS! She's VERY EASY vs. the other profs
Dr. Glodowski is a really nice professor who is SO helpful when you ask her questions after class, during office hours, or by email. Her answers are always really comprehensive and she's able to predict other, similar questions you may have based on the types of questions you're asking. She's really great and has a really nice personality.
Lectures are comprehensive and clear. questions are the exact same format as the practice exams. I didn't open the book once, but attended every lecture and got an A. Attend her office hours or talk to her after class about subjects that are difficult. She is extremely helpful.
Not difficult to get an A if you put the time in to mastering the problem sets given. She was very willing and helpful during class time to answer questions. Exams were similar difficulty to problem sets. Also her midwestern accent makes her R's very hard, thus she sounds like a pirate. Which is very cute and/or a good drinking game.
She's an extremely nice professor and clear when lecturing. Had her for the summer session. I studied a lot for this class and ended up with a B. DO the practice problems because they come up on exams. If you don't get something, just ask. She's very patient and helpful.
Good Teacher. Must take notes in class though just print the ppt slides and write in all the info. Read, do problems, and before the exam throughly review the ppt lectures/problems. Easy A. I didnt try for first 2 exams (studied day off but had reading done) and avgeraged a B+. Actually studied for final and got A+.
Professor Glodowski is extremely helpful and fair. Read the textbook to supplement some of the lectures, but she covers everything on the exams clearly in her notes so going to class should be enough. Go to office hours if you are confused about something, she is very good at helping you work through problems. Do the problem sets!
Glodowski has been one of the best lecturers I've ever had for bio. Her slides are very simple and easy to follow (I suggest bringing a laptop to class because she goes pretty quick). She uses diagrams that are available on sakai, which make it easier to understand what she's explaining. I only go to bio if I know she's lecturing.
Dr.Glodowski is a great professor.Just make sure you attend lectures to write down everything on her slides as the ones online are just the outline. She is VERY helpful and patient during office hours so take full use of that.Make sure you know all her lecture notes for the exam.If you know her notes, you can do very well on the exam by Dr.Martin.
Finally a professor who understands that it is impossible for students to write things off a powerpoint and listen at the same time. She provides slides online for you which makes it easier to follow along with her. Overall great teacher! Best advice? sit in the front of the class because she doesnt use the microphone. guaranteed A on the exam.
Just make sure you print out the notes posted online and copy the remaining notes during class (or at least get someone to do it) and you'll do fine. Also, the recommended exercises are a MUST. She's very helpful and extremely patient. I really like the way she answers questions with her trademark sincere smile. Also, she has a soothing voice.
This professor was the worst professor I ever had at Rutgers. She went extremely fast. Her slides are only outlines and if you dont write everything she says in class, then you are screwed. Each class you are so busy trying to write what she said that at the end of class you dont learn anything, and your hand feels like its going to fall off.
She's very condescending. Her second exam sucked and she rushes thru every lecture. Dont take her class over the summer. youve been warned
terrible, unfair grader. uses light colors in powerpoint so you can't see anything written. unclear
I took her over the summer, ended up with an A. I skimmed the book and did all the assigned problems, asked for help when needed. SHe does go fast but she needs to. I studied off her lecture notes mostly, refered to book when needed. You NEED to put in time, genetics isnt an easy course and her lectures are clear if you pay attention!
Great teacher. She gives outlines which you must print and take to class. So much easier to pay attention and fill in the empty spots. Summer course was quite hectic but definitely doable. Ended with an A.
Very good professor. Speaks clearly but fast, print out the slides and fill them in. The students that gave her a bad rating didn't try hard enough and didn't go to her office hours. She is extremely helpful when you talk to her. Do the book exercises! If she references scientists, know what they did. The more you practice, the easier it will be.
One of the BEST professors I've had at Rutgers!!!!! She was very easy to talk to. I took her class over the summer. She was extremely helpful. Yes you have to go to lecture and take notes but as long as you study her slides very closely and do her assigned problems, you will do very well! Read MC questions on exams VERY carefully!
there are 2 midterms and 1 final. recitations are fairly easy 15% of final grade. she is really helpful during office hours and reply to emails faster. NO CURVE! to do well in this class, just attend all lectures and memorize them really well.
This class was pretty easy because she's a great lecturer and because a lot of the material I had learned in AP Bio. Just do the problem sets over before the exams and you're guaranteed at least a 90. Also, recitation was mandatory but a huge waste of time especially if you had a useless TA.
Great lecturer. She explains everything and makes sure everybody in the class understands it. Does alot of practice in class and assigns problems that are just like those on the exam. Go to class! She has alot of stuff on her powerpoints that aren't on the notes and that you need. Take her she's good.
This professor is probably one of the best professors in Rutgers. She is very passionate about the subject and is crystal clear during lecture. During office hours, she is very helpful. She should be teaching genetics every semester.
she's a good lecturer and her notes will be the key to doing well in the class. its not an easy A, but if you memorize and attend each lecture then you'll be set. don't be fooled - in the beginning its pretty easy but once you get nearer to the final there's a whole lot to memorize! don't fall behind. office hours help!
Posts incomplete slides online so you must attend lecture to fill them in. 3 exams.Final is cumulative but the easiest out of the three. Not an easy A, but your recitation grade can boost your final grade almost a whole letter so make sure to do well. I attended every lecture , studied a week before each exam and got an A. DO PRACTICE PROBLEMS!
Great lecturer. Probably would have done better if I had a better recitation instructor. For exams, literally just memorize everything. In the beginning, the class seems ridiculously easy, but it picks up pace towards the second half of the semester! The quality of your recitation instructor can make a big difference in your grade!!
This is the BEST advice- DO PROBLEMS. this class is unlike most sciences at rutgers that is just all memorization. exams are SHORT ANSWER. my big mistake was focusing on memorizing info, and didnt do enough problems. problem sets + textbook problems are a MUST, memorizing info comes second. 80% of the exams are worked problems, not MC on info.
Class is not so easy, however an A is achievable. Really have to be on top of your material in order to do well, its a dense course. Glodowski is EXTREMELY helpful and is always willing to help. For recitation i HIGHLY suggest you email your instructor before recitation to check your work. study hard and you'll do well. textbook is availableonline
She's a nice professor. This class is not easy though because it's very dense. You need to put in a lot of work into it and DO THE PROBLEMS! You have to work for the A. Overall a great class.
Overall, this was an average Rutgers science class. It is possible to do well on the first exam without going to the lectures, however it will be impossible to get above a C on the 2nd and final exams without going to every lecture. Recitations do not have quizzes. She does NOT give + grades, so if you have a final grade of 79 you will get a C.
i hate her, as a commuter, her class is extremely inconvenient. If you miss one of the mandatory quizzes, you get a 0, no makeups. If you don't like bio or have to take the class for the core curriculum, don't take this class.
She expects material not in her provided textbook to be mastered. She barely prepares you for her Her "Additional Problems" which are not covered by the textbook. She lectures as if you're a geneticist, find a different professor if you want to excel in genetics.
She gives out extremely hard exams. There is no curve at all. It is a hard class. Take another genetics professor.
My GPA going into this course was a 3.90 -- never got below a B+ in a course at Rutgers, and have excelled in the sciences. This class, however, was much harder than it should've been. The tests were way too difficult and she does not curve at all. Definitely don't recommend her. Take someone else.
Avoid her if you can. I did not expect this class to be as difficult as it was. The course gets progressively more difficult and she actually gives you less help and resources through the semester. Basically throws you into the deep end for the final.
Class was a lot more difficult then expected. Go to class and do all the questions in the problem sets, and you should be ok. The final is cumulative which is very stressful. I got an A but I studied extremely hard for it.
Very unhelpful, and very unclear, you can do all her assigned problems and go through all her lecture slides and still do poorly on her tests. Take another professor
Tests are extremely difficult. Not a good lecturer at all. Examples that she gave were much easier than anything on an exam. I knew how to do the exampleHW problems-still did poorly on the exams.
I wouldn't wish a semester with this professor on my worst enemy.
Terrible professor, no help at all and she looks down on you if you ever do poorly in her class
Almost half of your final exam grade comes from TRICK multiple choice questions, so getting just a few wrong will probably drop your grade significantly. There is no curve and she seems reluctant to let people see their final exams. The exams are fair, but the overall grading in this class is SO unfair. This is coming from someone with a 3.9+ GPA.
Class is not mandatory, but you are expected to know what is covered in class beyond anything else. Dr. Glodowski is such a sweet person and a great teacher. I have taken multiple classes with her. She is super helpful during her office hours, if lectures are not enough, and responds well to emails as well. She is honestly one of my favorites!
Those who say Genetics with Dr. G is hard because she's a bad lecturer are wrong and probably didn't put in effort in her class. Yes, her class is tougher than Michaelis' due to a lack of a curve for A's and B's, but she is INCREDIBLY passionate about helping her students. Never condescending, always there to help. Put some effort and you pass.
Glodowski is an incredible lecturer and always there to clarify anything you might have questions on before class, after class, office hours, and even email! She's really sweet and if you put in the effort, there's no reason not to do well. The exams are more than fair as are her pop quizzes. Study and you'll be fine!
Professor Glodowski is a great lecturer and is really willing to help. Attend all classes because of pop quizzes. Homework can save your grade. Exams are fair so an A is definitely doable if you study.
Dr. Glodowski is really helpful and very clear in her lectures and how she describes concepts. Very nice lady as well, and her exams were really fair. Pleasure to be in her class
Dr Glodowski is a great lecturer. Her exams are very fair and usually very similar to recitation problems or the suggested textbook problems. You really need to review the content after class to get the concepts and make sure to do problems but an A or a B is achievable if you do both and put in the time.
Dr. Glodowski is a good professor overall. She is willing to help students and is very clear with her lectures and lecture notes. She provides all the necessary resources to succeed in the course. To do well it is imperative that you review the lecture notes and practice problems. Exams are fair. Go to class and study. Class is informative.
Genetics 380 with Glodowski is hard because the exams are graded harshly and are 90% open-ended and calculation questions. She uploads to SAKAI pdf before class but going to class will shed some light on what she means. Before each exam she did a review and hinted some of the specific questions. Online homework 2x a week is a bit tedious and must pay for the code.
Be VERY CAREFUL with this class. The recitations, quizzes, and online homework are deceptively easy, but the exams are very challenging and are graded harshly. Doing the practice problems and going to office hours is recommended. As for Glodowski herself, she's a nice person, her lectures and notes are clear, and does a good job explaining things.
She is an amazing teacher and person. She really cares about the students and wants to help them learn. I had her honors recitations, which were very helpful. We didn't recap the lectures and did practice problems instead. There are weekly research paper summaries, which may be a little tedious. However, they really help build paper reading skills.
Very nice teacher. Cares about her students. Make sure to show up on time to classes with quizzes and there is a participation grade that she sometimes counts with index cards. Grading criteria is very clear, follow it and you'll be fine. Material not particularly difficult, just pay attention. I took Genetics, Law and Society, fun class.
She's nice but really boring. Her exams are a bit tricky and she doesn't curve. If you put in enough time and work you can get an A. Michaelis is probably the better option.
Lectures are incredibly boring and difficult to pay attention to. Exams are HARD. No curve. Online homework and recitation are a good grade booster, so make sure to get those points. Overall not a great experience in her class.
Analysis of Scientific Lit is such a great class. I strongly recommend! Easy A even open book!!! #gpabooster #hiddenA
In my opinion, she was a good professor. If anything was unclear to me, I'd go to her office hours and she would clarify any questions I had. Make sure you do the homework, suggested problems, and of course study her lecture slides in order to get a good grade.
She's the nicest, most caring professor you will ever meet. Make sure you go to class, because if you try to review the PPT at home, you won't get a clear sense of what she wants for the exams. Do the practice problems she assigns, do the homework, and there's two points extra credit for every exam!
This is one of the best professors I have had here at Rutgers. She is very thorough when she teaches and encourages people to ask as my questions as they can. The homework and recitation really help in this class. She does everything in her power to help you succeed. She is a great, thorough, and caring teacher.
Honestly one of the best biology professors that I have had in a long time. Her exams come straight from the problems that she does in class and she is very direct on what she wants you to know. Recitation and online hw help with understanding the material but I only focus on her slides. Suggested problems are important and there's extra credit!
This was the most boring class I've taken. Lectures are boring but if you don't go to them you won't understand the ppts. There is no curve which was crazy since the averages were in the 70s range. Wouldn't ever take this class again. Professor was very condescending as well and the material just wasn't interesting.
One of the best science profs Ive had at Rutgers. Thats saying a lot because Im a third year biology student. Her exams are very straightforward so you wont get tricked up during the exams. The quizzes and hw are really good grade boosters. If you dont understand something dont hesitate to ask for help definitely a doable B/B+ grade class.
Professor Glodowski lays out this whole class and everything you need to know in her online lectures. A decent bit of weekly work - watch videos, answer 2 video questions per video, doing the hw, and completing a quiz, recitation; But by keeping up weekly, understanding what she says in the videos for exam review, + going to OH, this is an easy A.
She was super helpful outside of class, and was really good with office hours. The course was very organized and clear. This was hands down the best online class that I have taken. She wants you to succeed and puts in a lot of effort to help all her students.
never again
Disables Canvas grade book feature for no apparent reason. Not a huge deal but why should I have to keep calculating my grade when we exist in the era of computers? Convoluted weekly recitation quizzes. Linear exams. Class isn't necessarily difficult but rather constantly having to assess what she is trying to ask on assessments. Meh. 3/5.
Dr. Glodowski's class is not about memorization so if that is the way you are accustom to learning it ends here. She does a great job of making the tests an application of the knowledge learned in a fair way and she is always willing to go the extra mile to help students in need including providing resources and examples.
she cannot teach
I genuinely feel as though I was scammed from my my and education. I signed up for an in person class and for some reason it was completely online . She pre recorded every lecture and they TAKE HOURS TO WATCH AND UNDERSTAND. She over simplifies everything to the point that it makes no sense and it is just random information with no correlation.
She is the worst professor ever, her exams don't reflect what we learn in class.
Really sweet professor and a very interesting class. Not the easiest so if ur looking for a gpa booster, take something else. Weekly hw and lecture quizzes which aren't too bad. Don't need to go to lecture to do good on the quizzes since she posts really good notes. 2 exams (midterm&final). Final isnt cumulative.
prof was really nice and had really engaging lectures that really made me think about tough topics. her quizzes and tests were fully online so that was nice. there weren't a ton of assignments outside of that and overall, i'd say that she was a pretty easy grader and it was a pretty easy class.
She's great so I'd def recommend to take her for genetics! This class isn't hard if you stay on top of the work but the work is a lot. However, it does help. There's weekly recitation group quizzes, online hw, graded online lecture vids, & clicker q's in class (not graded). She's also always open to helping if you have questions
great professor but you need to write down and memorize everything she says in the recorded lectures in order to pass. not impossible but not easy. attendance for recitations and twigs are mandatory, 1 absence allowed each
Great professor, just make sure not to fall behind in her lectures. She explains everything really well, and if you still have trouble I highly recommend going to her office hours. Her exams are all based on the lecture slides, and I recommend reviewing the TWIG and recitation questions as practice.
Love the way she's speaking...She's soooooooo charming
The exams should be a breeze if you attend all the TWIGs and do the homework. Her office hours are also super helpful, and she takes the time to answer every question you bring.
I don't recommend her
lectures are terribly boring, on her review videos that dont allow you to speed them up it genuinely feels like torture. She has no leniency for any assignments, no rounding. In the little time she speaks to you directly within the week, she speaks monotone, and will tell you to look in the lecture for help even if you go up to her after class.
This class is no pushover. You need to study hard because there is so much material covered in the lectures. Know the lecture videos inside out in order to do well on exams. The exams are all based on the lecture videos. An A is very possible, so long as you put in the work and time. I highly recommend going to office hours; she is really helpful.
Dr. Glodowski is an outstanding professor of Genetics 380. The course features brilliant, detailed online lectures, helpful TWIG questions, and insightful OH homework. Exams reflect the material well. While challenging, it's manageable with dedication and thought. Those dismissing the class as an "easy A" miss its depth. Consistent effort is key!
She uploads long ish lectures every week with a few questions attached to them. The homeworks are sometimes long but sometimes really fast. This class reminded me of APBio. It wasnt horrible. GO TO RECITATION. the professor does a but of practice problems in the in person lecture and uses the clicker system for attendance. 3 exams, no final.
She is a good professor and all the exam material comes from the lecture, but the lecture style being super long videos just did not work for me.
Professor Glodowski is an excellent professor for genetics. I liked the flipped classroom approach with weekly lecture videos and in-person TWIG sessions. She is super helpful during office hours and will clear everything up. The recitation instructors are also excellent. Her exams are noncumulative and all from her lecture videos/slides.
She is a great professor. He wants you to succeed and learn. She has a flip style classroom, and her lectures videos are little long but very informative. Watch lectures, attend recitation, and class weekly and you should be fine with an A or B+. The test averages in the class have been low (70-75s), and tests are slightly hard but study and u fine
Dr. Glodowski is a great professor. Her reverse lecture style was great and it was really helpful to have online lectures accessible at all times. She's accessible outside of class and her office hours were helpful. Exams were pretty fair and as long as you studied from the slides + videos, it was a good class. 100% would recommend Dr. Glodowski.
She is good at actually teaching, I just wish there was more to help us memorize material, as there is a LOT of material to memorize that she goes over in her lectures, and you have to know everything top to bottom to do good on exams. She can be mean sometimes.
This class was supposed to be a beginner class, but it was more work than all my other classes combined. She is a brilliant doctor with great intentions, but the workload is too much. She also places a lot on attendance, and missing a few classes sets you up to fail. The class is not beginner level and demands your attention.
Glodowski is simply harsh. I can understand that her teaching style may work for many students, but it doesn't work for me. Too many lecture videos to keep up with. She should work with her students better than just telling them to retake the class if they are struggling. I had a C, and it was definitely possible for me to finish the class fine.
I liked how this professor set up the class in a way that it kept you engaged with the course material. The quizzes were not hard and were mostly just an incentive to keep up with the material. There is a group project but it was pretty easy and she's not a tough grader. It's not an easy A, but it can be if you actually do the work.
This class is actually terrible. I legit had a procedure and she gave me 0 participation points. Another time I left 5 minutes early and she did the same thing. There are quizzes every other week, but at least one gets dropped. It is extremely science heavy so do not take this course if you are bad at science. Do not take it please - BOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I'd rather take orgo again than take genetics with her. I attended office hours, read the textbook, studied the lectures, and did practice problems, yet still failed 😃. I had simply asked a question regarding material that would be on the exam; she hit me with, "Is that seriously a question?" with sarcasm and a dismissive tone. Rude professor.
Hated how this class was taught.
Not a nice professor, insane amount of work and harsh. Don't take unless you're absolutely sure about med school/ PA school because otherwise it's not worth it at all! Fair warning
Glodowski is a forgiving and kind lecturer. She is not harsh with HW assignments or TWIGS that are honestly very helpful. She provides plenty of resources and works through basically every problem you can expect on exams at some point through the lectures and TWIGs. Great class!
GOATdowski. easiest class ever. super organized and clear. weekly homework, async lec videos, and recitation. not a source of stress at all can definitely take at the same time as other harder science courses. also super accessible, responds to emails and questions right away. Laura the TA on the other hand.... stay away from her.
While I enjoy the set up of this class with hw assignments, lecture questions, and exams, she was quite rude. I went to her office hours as I did well on my first exam but poorly on my second and she was very passive aggressive and was mad at me when I didnt know concepts (thats why I'm going to help understand).
Super great professor, got a 70 on the first exam but locked in for the rest of the sem and still ended with a high B+, so an A is super doable Watch her lectures and take notes Don't lose points on small stuff, and check out her office hours, she's super smart Lots of material, but an A is totally possible if you don't procrastinate like i did
I found the professor pretty rude. But aside from that, the class is very organized. The recorded lectures were informative, and the online hw was good review. The recitations were okay as well. There's a lot of memorization involved, so like make a quizlet, and you will be fine.
Honestly, Glodowski is a good Professor. She took time to do Office Hours and was pretty great, I loved her...at first. I don't know, I went to her at one point to ask for guidance on a question for an exam and she kind of was a little rude about it like I was bargaining for points? But nonetheless will give credit where it's due, she's rude but ok
