Dr. Mooney tries to make the Bible understandable and enjoyable for everyone - even if you have never opened one up before. The material seems like a lot at first, but he practically spells out the answers for his quizzes and tests. If students just memorize his notes they will do great...especially with all of the extra credit he offers.

Dr. Mooney is the best Theology prof. that I have had. He challenges his students to know what the Bible actually says which is extremely useful if going into the ministry. Overall all his classes would be essential to your knowledge of the Bible and for a life for Christ. Plus he is extremely hot! Would date him hands down! Take his classes!

I have had Mooney for quite a few of my classes and he is still the only professor that I learn best from. If you don't want to do a lot of work, don't take his classes, but if you actually want to learn something, than you should.

Makes the old testament fun! A great guy and an even awesome professor. Must take one of his classes! This class was so easy, as long as you read the assigned readings..that is what the quizzes are based on.

Because I'm a CST major I took most of his classes, except the lower division. I have enjoyed these classes a lot, although they were my hardest classes. But Dr. Mooney is a great professor, understanding, and knowledgeable in every way. I really respect him and look up to him as a professor and a man of God. I've learned so much. Highly recommend

Very easy. All you have to do is show up to class and read the text. I never realized how interesting the OT could be until I took his class. If I had more time I would definitely take more of his classes!

Very tough in regards to classwork, but, especially for the CST or BAT majors, the toughness is neccessary. A very gracious and genuine man of God. He will challenge you in the best sense of the word.

Tons of info, tons of homework, but he cares about his students and he pushes them to do their best and know the text. GREAT class, GREAT teacher It's hard, but if you want to know the bible you have to put in the work. And he is very willing to help you out if you need help and to answer questions and meet with his students. Best teacher I've had.

I think a lot of people are being too hard on Mooney. He let's the whole class know from day 1 "if you do not need my class you better drop because you're probably gonna fail." don't take his classes unless it is required for your major. He does all he can to makesure you have what you need to pass. When you leave his class, you'll be alot sharper

I think Dr. Mooney is an excellent teacher. I highly disagree that he is contrary to what a Christian is supposed to be. I think he interacts with his students well, and is enjoyable and easy to follow. Yes, his class is hard BUT I learned more from that class than almost any other class I have taken at CBU. I highly recommend taking his class.

His classes are indeed tough but you will be so thankful you took them. Everything he teaches is important to life. He makes class interesting and he is funny. If you put the proper time and effort in the class you will do well and you will be so thankful for all you have learned. Study hard. You will be glad you did.

Outstanding, Mooney pushes you into the primary text. Concept that at times can be missed in any era. Do not take this class if the text of the Bible is not your intrest.

Dr. Mooney is a great teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable about the Bible, especially The Old Testament. He is more than happy to answer any question that you have about the Bible. He makes the class entertaining with his sense of humor. Dr. Mooney is a big fan of the Pokemon franchise, and loves talk about anything Pokemon.

Dr. Mooney is a GREAT TEACHER!!! Attendance is important because there is a reading quiz everyday but they are easy if you read. Keeps class entertained and loves questions. Very open to explain and help. I loved his class I am going to take him for all of my Christian studies courses.

Best teacher I have taken! He keeps the class extremely entertaining. He's very funny. Reading quizzes every class but they are VERY simple if you read. Online quizzes are open book and easy. Gives study guide for midterm and final. Such an easy class and such an amazing teacher. I strongly recommend taking him!

Okay, so be prepared to read.. a lot. There are quizzes everyday but he drops your lowest scores. I personally thought I learned a lot, however, It wasn't the most exciting class Iv'e ever taken either.

HARD class, but Mooney is definitely my favorite professor. Funny guy, and he knows what he is talking about. If you are willing to work hard you will learn tons in his class. But if you don't like to work, definitely don't take him

I LOVE professor Mooney! He is a great teacher. However, if you do not need any of his classes for your major, DO NOT take them. His classes require a lot of reading. As a Christian Studies major, I love every minute of it. He does teach OT Survey as well as upper divisions, if you get the opportunity to take that with him, I highly recommend it :)

The only thing about Dr. Mooney that everyone should know is do your reading his quizzes and tests are simple if you do that. He doesn't want to see anyone fail his class and really doesn't put any tricks on his tests so long as you read you will pass. He is also really understanding about make-up tests and quizzes when you have a valid excuse.

Professor Mooney is AWESOME!!! he relates the reading to real life situations to help understand better! If you do your reading, the class is simple. He doesn't pull any tricks! his Finals are super easy! 50% of the final and midterm are based on past quizzes and he gives you a study guide that is very useful! study those and you're golden!!

Dr. Mooney is great! he's my favorite teacher so far at CBU! I recommend everyone to take his O.T. Survey Class! He's really funny and easy! his quizzes are based on the reading so as long as you read your good! his final and midterm and a breeze!

Dr. Mooney is a phenomenal teacher, goes very in depth about the bible and explains it very well. He is also very hilarious and keeps the atmosphere light.

He's an amazing professor and person! Hilarious, and tells a lot of stories in class. He will usually cancel class or let you out early if you are ahead in lectures or if you are simply witty with the way you ask! You are reading every day though, and there are quizzes everyday. The tests are quite easy if you study a lot. Good luck!

While there will be a lot of reading (it is an Old Testament survey class), there isn't a lot of extra homework - two short papers and two tests for the midterm and final. Mooney is very knowledgable which made lectures and discussions even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend taking this class!

He is am awesome teacher! Its never a dull moment in his class 10/10 would take him again.

AMAZING Professor!

How do I say this... Dr. Mooney is the funniest man alive. He has HUNDREDS of stories that will make you laugh your head off. His work isn't too hard but it is a lot of work. I would recommend everyone doing OTS take Dr. Mooney just for the sake of it. Favourite professor for sure, 5 stars.

Definitely knows his stuff. Has a lot of funny anecdotes (but sometimes too many). He is truly an expert in the Old Testament and is always able to answer questions on readings. He does quizzes 3 days a week, 20 chapters, but they're somewhat easy. Midterm/Final are straightforward. Everything's on the syllabus.

Dr. Mooney is definitely a hard professor to take, but he makes sure you know the information. There is a quiz every Friday, but most of it is cumulative and he tells you how to study. At times it is hard to follow him, but he is willing to answer questions. While at times he is intimidating, he really does care about his students.

Dr. Mooney's class was supposed to be the " hardest" bible class at the school. In reality if you read 1-3 pages of the old testament survey book before each class, his quizzes are easy. Ive learned that students just don't like the grind of having to go to every class. If you go every class the effort you have to put in is actually pretty minimal

Dr. Mooney is an amazing professor, but this class is not one you can sleep through. A LOT of memorization, and hardest Bible class I have ever taken. The tests are difficult and measure your ability to retain everything you have read from the Bible chapter readings. Also, the most I have ever retained from a class and amazing lectures.

This class opened up my eyes to the Old Testament and was a challenge! The lectures are super interesting and the classes usually go by fast. Be prepared for a quiz almost every class meeting and you will have to read the entire OT if you want to pass the class. There are three essays, countless quizzes, and a midterm + final so be prepared!

Dr. Mooney is by far the best professor I've ever had. A lot of the negative reviews are due to students not being able to read through all the material but I don't believe that should deter you, that's just college. You learn so much and his humor and personality make the class enjoyable. I try to take his classes as much as I can.

The hardest but most rewarding classes you'll ever take. Dr. Mooney is one of the best professors on this campus and an incredible person. Do not skip the readings or leave anything to the last minute with his class and you'll succeed. He's passionate about the subject and cares for his students. He's Ron Swanson, Paul, and Eric Clapton combined

Dr. Mooney pushes his student to learn biblical content, and apply it to our lives. Some might not like the demand of biblical reading, but Dr. Mooney makes his class enjoyable with his humorous personality and straightforward instruction.

I wouldn't recommend taking Mooney's class if you're new to Christianity/Bible as he uses very technical terms in his lectures which can be confusing to someone who doesn't have a "churchy" background. But, he really cares about his students and encourages you to succeed and to talk to him if you have any questions about the Bible or just life.

The class is hard but Dr. Mooney is wickedly smart and a great professor. If you put effort in, you will potentially get a lot out of it.

Dr. Mooney is a solid professor. He is very knowledgeable of the Bible and especially the Old Testament. Be ready for lots of reading, quizzes, and homework. For tests, rely on the quizzes and study guide (for CST110 at least) and you'll ace them. Take him if you want to learn the material well because you will.

Dr. Mooneys an awesome guy! His lectures are lengthy but he always has some great stories to tell that will crack you up! Youre going to have to read your Bible and the class textbook. There are also quizzes every week. Overall though I think hes great and you should totally take him!

Dr. Mooney is a very good professor. He could have made his OT class a little easier though, there was lots of work for a level 100 class, but you'll definitely learn. He's chill and very passionate. Would recommend.

Professor Mooney's OT course requires much dedication, but his lectures are so articulate that you would have to intentionally ignore the things he says in his lectures in order to fail. There are many quizzes in his course, but they are very easy if you pay attention in class. Be sure you do, because he slides some amazing jokes in as well!

Dr. Mooney was one of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures were super informative while also being very entertaining. Definitely a professor you will never forget, told a lot of great stories. OT was a really intriguing course, and while the work was sometimes heavy, he provided so much useful info/advice that it'd be hard to fail.

He is honestly so funny, and he really cares and wants you to succeed. Do not just sign in and leave, a lot of people have done it and he said if you do so you will be marked as absent. He always tries to make the lectures entertaining and is very clear and all the quizzes are online including the midterm. 100 % recommend.

Dr. Mooney is an amazing professor! It's very clear that he cares for his students and will admit to any mistakes on his part. Lectures consist of power points, notes, and laughs. Definitely recommend taking this class!

Very nice professor overall. Majority of weekly assignments/exams are done online and are not too difficult. However, be very careful with participation and attendance. You only get a few personal days and will mark you absent if he catches you working on something else or not paying attention to the lecture.

Amazing lectures, His classes are always my favorite to attend, he is a tough grader and def need to study for his assignments, if he says you need a book-you NEED the book. But all in all good professor just assignments are a little rough

I think Dr. Mooney is a fantastic professor. Lots of people have wrong perceptions of the guy, which I get, but I believe there are a lot of harsh feelings toward him because the people writing these rude reviews generally don't do well in his class. Straight up for those who do the work and read commentaries, I never find complaining.

Excellent professor, would retake his class. Super easy class, and it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to fail his class—super easy and amazing guy. TAKE HIS OLD TESTAMENT CLASS it will be the easiest class you take.

Dr. Mooney was an extremely funny teacher, those calling him narcissistic clearly didn't pay much attention to his actual lectures and were nitpicky…He grades extremely fairly and honestly i had a few friends who went in to CTA's the wrong way who scored poorly so REALLY DO JUST DOUBLE CHECK your own writing PLEASE!!!
