Very awesome prof! really dumbs down the hard math for us social science students. Creates fun and interesting ways to keep it you coming to class. Willing to go out of his way to help you do well, and very hot! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Walters is so cool. He really wants everyone in the class to understand the material and he really wants to help. He finds interesting ways to get the class involved, like incorporating tv ads, movies and songs into the lecture for students to win prizes (even if they aren't great prizes it's fun).

David Walters is the only prof i know that goes on webct chat the night before an exam to help his students with any additional questions or concerns they may have. He is determined to push students to do their absolute best and makes a boring course fun to attend...this is without question the BEST PROF i have had throughout my 3 yrs at guelph.

I LOVE THIS PROF! He is original, puts SO much time and effort into his lectures and he's a great and funny guy. He's made stats such an easy course to get through, it's amazing! Thanks, David.

Honestly, This guy rocks. I marked his course not because its an easy course, but because he puts so much into helping students, that you believe in yourself. This guy has cool games and majic tricks to keep the class interested. To put it another way, this is the only class ive ever attened fully, without missing one , and for stats that says alot

By far the best prof I've ever had in university! His lectures are so fun to go to, his tests are very straight forward, he genuinely loves what he does, and wants his students to do well. He's always available outside of class and really motivates his students. I can't stress this enough-take a class with him and you won't be sorry!

This guy is downright awesome. It's impossible to make statistics fun and interesting, but Dave came closer than otherwise humanly possible. The dry ice pranks and Star Wars jokes were cheesier than all hell, but that was half the fun.

David is the best prof ever. The class is hard though.. his tests and assignments arent, but he makes it so much fun and interesting that you have to try really hard not to do well. He wants you to do well more than any other prof I have ever me. He is amazing and I would gladly take another class by him, although stats was horrible :D

This prof is amazing! He's the best prof I've had. Stats was great with him! I think this was his last year teaching this course, but take any course you can with him! He's extremely good looking and hilarious. His test's were very fair and you only had to put in a bit of work to do well! I highly recommend him!!

Professor Walters is the BEST and most influential prof I have had at University. He made stats actually interesting and understandable, he understands what students go through and encourages his students to improve throughout the semester.I never missed class because I knew it was always going to be an interesting lecture!!Take a course with him!

GREATEST PROFESSOR EVER. This man is the best thing since sliced bread. If you have the chance to take this guys class I would not hesitate to do so.

I fell in love with this man. Seriously the best professor, I made it to everyone one of my classes, which is a huge feat for me. There was always music, and random people dressed up in costumes. And the material was easy with his explanations. He prepared you for every assignment and test, there's no way you can do poorly.

The best professor I've ever had. Engaging and crystal clear. Made one of my worst subjects enjoyable and thought provoking. I've never enjoyed statistics until Prof Walters took the wheel. I encourage everyone to take a course with him! He really cares!

best prof out there... hate stats but makes it interesting and fun to actually go to class believe it or not... also is a good life coach gives advice to the whole class on different degrees and jobs and how to get jobs... missing out on a chance to have him as a prof is your loss!!

I love him as a prof! I didn't feel like just a number when I was in his lectures. He pays a lot of attention to what he teaches, and he's super hot so the experience was just that much better. I'd have him for most of my classes if I could!

This man is an absolutely fantastic teacher. He genuinely wants everyone to succeed and goes well out of his way to provide resources for students. I've never seen a prof as genuine as David. Not only do I want to get 80s for myself, but I also want to do it for him. Tests are also extremely fair. You'd be lucky to have David as your prof.

Hands down the best professor I've had so far. Extremely helpful and clear and truly wants his students to succeed. He doesn't make you feel stupid or like a number. Lots of people struggle with his class because it is a math based class taken by arts students. But he totally understands that! I have nothing bad to say about that man. AMAZING.

Tough course but an amazing professor. Wish he taught more then SOAN2120 and graduate courses. David makes class super interesting and the attendance is always high! Great help and responds to e-mails immediately. He had awesome TA's this year too! Definitely recommend taking one of his courses.

This man is an absolute inspiration. He is the gold standard by which all other professors should be measured by. I learned so much more than statistics through this course; anyone is doing a disservice to themselves not being in one of his classes. He is the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be.

Had him as a professor 3 years ago and I still tell people how amazing he was! He makes you want to learn and want to attend class. He makes boring stats funny and interesting. Best Prof I've ever had!

SUCH a great prof, would definitely take a class with him again. He makes boring content interesting, made me actually want to go to class. All the tests are multiple choice which he is extremely fair on. Consider yourself lucky if you get to take a class with him!

David is definitely one of the best professor at the University of Guelph. He's extremely engaging, makes semi-boring content interesting, and is always there for his students. He prepares you well for the tests and he makes them very fair. He adds comedic relief into every lecture, and is always encouraging!

The professor was very helpful when describing things that students would not otherwise understand. He understood that students would not fully grasp concepts the first time they were introduced to them. Due to this the professor would often revisit the subject in later lectures.

good prof, total dad/bro but thats what makes his lectures entertaining. as someone with zero math background, i learned more than i have in any other math based class. the book was expensive but mandatory since the material didn't overlap from lecture especially for the first midterm.

David is an awesome prof. I'm an arts student and I would not have passed a stats class without him as a prof. He makes boring content interesting and funny and makes himself very available to students for help.

Although David Walters is a really nice guy and is helpful when learning the lecture material, the assignment was really hard. He does offer help with labs but it was hard to get one on one help since the class was large. The assignment was very hard to complete in the short span of time he gave us & midterms are very specific as well, so be wise!

Walters was excellent. Everything he expected was clearly outlined, his midterms were fair as long as you were doing the amount of work expected, and I found the grading for the final assignment very lenient. He goes above and beyond to provide extra help when needed, and truly aims to inspire students to do better. Best prof I have every had

This professor has a great personality and delivers interesting and informative lectures. He's entertaining and easy on the eyes! Its clear to see that he cares about his students, unique teaching style.

David is an amazing professor! He has a unique, down to earth teaching style that makes him a student favourite (which is very clear in lectures). He posts all his slides but you are better off attending class, his explanations make all the difference. Testing is fair but heavily textbook based.

Walters is one of the best profs I've had so far. He is very clear in his lectures and what he expects from you regarding assignments. When it comes to assignments he is always there for his students and ensures that you understand the material.

Absolutely amazing. I wish that he taught more than just the one class. We need more professors like Walters that actually care about their students. Makes class engaging and this encourages you to WANT to show up to a research methods class. And believe me, it says a lot about him to make me want to show up to that class.

I had this class with him during my 4th year, and he's definitely the best prof Ive EVER had. He has so many students, but still manages to make you feel like he cares about you as an individual. honestly most amazing human and guy. cares genuinely about his students passing. SOAN 2120 can be intimidating to students unfamiliar with stats and numbers, but he makes the transition easy and knows some students take the course as its mandatory. Answers emails ASAP, great lectures, clear rubrics, provides help whenever needed, and tests fairly.

Amazing prof. He genuinely cares about his students' success and makes every effort to help you learn the material. Adds little things to each lecture that make even the most boring topics more interesting. He's interested in seeing his students succeed beyond school and takes the time to help his students prepare themselves for the job market.

Walters made this class so much better for me. He is the most encouraging prof ever, he made me feel like he honestly cared about my grade. His slides are amazing and the music he plays before lecture is always uplifting. Super professional and very smart. Can't go wrong with Walters. The material was tough but if anyone can make it fun, it's him.

100% recommend, David's a great teacher. He has a strong support system in place for students & ensures lectures/resources are as comprehensive as possible. Throughout the course I developed an appreciation for research methods and am confident moving forward in my studies. I even enjoyed the math(math scares me). The force is strong with this one.

David is amazing. He made me enjoy this class and the way he taught the material made it very attainable to get a good grade if you studied. The math was very easy, but he put it on the midterm and exam as bonus marks because he found that it gave a lot of students anxiety.

Prof. Walters was amazing. His lectures were crystal clear. He was able to describe every concept, encouraging questions and going over concepts multiple times, until everyone understood and still managed to end class early almost every time. Mark dropped a bit because of the final project, but not his fault! And he's hilarious.

Took this class as and elective and I am so happy I did. One of the most enjoyable classes and prof!

I loved this prof and this class. I took it in fall of 2020 when everything was online. He was beyond understanding with not only marks but due dates. He dropped quizzes you did not do the best on and bumped up the class average on every quiz. I would take any class he taught without even thinking about. Probably the best prof I have ever had

This dude is top tier, he's easy to listen to and is super engaging. I find his classes fun, and I am seriously not a lecture person. Textbook quizzes are easier than the lecture quizzes. First assignment was super easy. Take his class!

I was so scared of this mandatory statistics course since the day I entered the program, but he made it so enjoyable and was so understanding. He really cares about students. Do not miss the opportunity to take his class.

I am not a fan of statistics, but Walters made it about as enjoyable as it could be. Really good at explaining concepts, and clearly cares about making sure his students understand the material. this course probably would have been a nightmare for me had I had a different professor.
