I took Ha in 2002. He's fair and easy.

Insufficent test time (too many problems; not enough time), very hard to understand (his english), when I took him i dropped the class with a 56%; retook the class with E.Z. Damewood and made a 98% in the class. I would highly recommend not to take Ha.

Difficult subject but Ha definitely worked with everyone to get us through it. What he lacks in communication inside the classroom he makes up for with extra support when you ask.
He is more soft spoken than hard to understand. Sit up front but don't be afraid to take him. He is a very kind and knows his stuff. He will help you if you ask. No one can read minds... ask if you have a problem.
His average on the first test in this basic required course was a 56%. Know his stuff, but cannot communicate well at all.
Operations Management was a hard subject but he taught it well. He was easy to understand. I agree with him not allowing us to use our notes on exams. We needed to learn the material.

Ha is the name of the professor. Ha is about what I felt like after having his class, what a joke. Avoid taking this teacher if at all possible.
He has a great grading scale! I failed this course at another school (F) and got an A in his! He answered any questions I had.
Really cares about his students. I would recommend taking him but sit up front.
Tough subject but Ha brought EVERYONE in class through it. You definitely get out of the class what you put into it. Definitely caring. Just listen carefully.
Didn't care for his style as an undergrad, but really came to appreciate him as a grad student. Will go through multiple examples to make the complex understandable. Also makes class fun with stories and tidbits.

Out of 60 students 42 failed the second test which was supposed to replace the first test everyone failed. 9 scores out of the class were less than 10 percent...enough said
This is one professor I wouldn't reccomend. He is not helpful and is quick to jump on the deffensive of his teaching when a question arises. Tells more stories about Korean customs then the subject matter. If you ask questions to learn he isn't for you

The worst teacher I've ever had in my entire life and I'm a 4.0 student. He can't teach, is very unclear, and very unhelpful.

Run, run for you life! Seriously, this guy speaks muttled English, he honestly doens't care that none of us understand him, and he has no plans to change. DO NOT take this guy.

If you can avoid taking him do so. This is the ultimate worst teacher I have ever had. He doesn't care that you don't get it. He will laugh at you and basically say that you are stupid.
His name is "Ha" because he's a joke. Save yourself the stress, life's short enough as it is.

He is very soft spoken, so sit up front to hear him. He will make every effort to make sure you understand the material if you are not scarred to ask questions. He is also an easier grader whom gives lots of partial credit and bonus questions.

Electronic course, did not respond to questions via email. Would not allow review of exams or assignments. NO communication. A waste of time. Would like a refund.
Dr Ha went out of his way to make sure everyone understood the material and did well in the class. If you don't do well in his class it's not Ha's fault.
I did not like his way of teaching. I didn't understand and when I asked questions it was as if I was dumb. Do not take him if you do not have to. He gets worse as the semster goes forward.
Why do they get teachers who don't speak english to teach in american schools?? i don't get it. I totally agree that Ha is a joke...a cruel one. he doesn't know how to help you cuz he can't understand english. save yourself the trouble of having to retake this class cuz if you have HA you will!!
Worst teacher I have ever had. Doesn't deserve to teach.
This class is a lot of math, it's boring but required. His exams are multiple choice and you can use a formula sheet but for some reason people still did poorly on the exams. My only complaint is that he's not helpful when it comes to his case studies, he refuses to tell you what he wants.
Dr. Ha is friendly, but not very helpful in explaining things, especially the 3 cases you'll do in the class. He refuses to provide directions for these; he wants you to figure it out on your own. You can use a "cheat sheet" on the exams.

Does not teach!!! Only assigns tests and assignments. Does not provide any assistance. NONE. Will not answer emails or phone calls. Should never, never be allow to "teach" a class.
This class was boring, but as long as you show up for class and asked questions you will do fine. His tests are little hard but not to bad. Answers emails, always has office hrs.
His first test should have drop slips stapled on to them. :(
He's the reason why the drop out rate is so high. Just look at his name, Dr. Ha. He's basically laughing at you. He curently holds the record for the most drops in the first week of classes. Side effects may include confusion, dizziness, lowered self esteem, and contemplation of dropping out.

His tests aren't too bad. You get a cheat sheet and as long as you know how to make it out you'll do fine. Read the book not all the questions on the tests are from class work. He'll do his best to help you out if you need it. Seemed generally interested in our concerns. You do have to study!!!
Do not take an internet class with Ha. His assignments were not hard, but the tests were brutal. You won't learn anything; he rounds pretty heavily, though, so your GPA won't suffer too badly. Take it in lecture with someone else; not only will you learn more, but you will also get a better grade.
no. Dr. Ha was one of the better teachers I've had here, and all this unfair criticism of him makes me sick. He expects you to read your textbook for once. His English isn't bad. He laughs in class because he actually likes his students (sucks to be him, then). Tests aren't hard, he at least tries to be funny. I recommend him, just be open-minded.
This is the hardest freakin class I've had at MU so far, and I'm pretty sure if he spoke actual ENGLISH it wouldn't be so bad. His tests are open book-- too bad the answers aren't in it. I'm not really sure where he gets the questions from? DO NOT TAKE HIM IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!!!!!!
Dr. Ha wants you to learn. He makes sure everyone understands before he moves on to a new topic. If you take homework questions to him he will not tell you the answer he makes you think about it and find the answer on your own but he will point you in the right direction.
I thought his class was fairly easy. His tests are open book and he offered a 30 point extra credit assignment. The tests are hard so you will need to understand the concept, but he is a nice guy and is always willing to help. I have recommended him to other students
The subject matter of this class is hard, but there are open book tests, extra credit, and 100 points for attendence! It doesn't get more fair than that! If you have a problem and talk to him, he's very willing to help. He has an accent so you do have to make an effort to PAY ATTENTION! If you do, you'll learn what he's teaching just fine.

I found this class to be difficult, mainly because I spent most of the class time trying to figure out what the hell he was trying to say. He's very nice and very cute though.
So, i was thinking about words to describe is class and the only thing i could come up with was...the emotion that you want to KILL URSELF..good luck understanding anything that comes out of his mouth...exams online,xtra credit...i think i got a good grade b/c it was all online :) and he's about to loose his job for lack of people passing...
Dr. Ha is of fine character. He expects you to arrive on time, dress appropriately and be prepared. He is the ONLY professor who really prepares you for the "real world". He cares about his students and treats them with respect. Everyone should be honored to have him as a professor!
I have taken him for 420 and 218 and received an A in both with ease. Anyone complaining about the difficulty of the classes did not read the textbook. He is very lenient with grading that allows for even minimal effort to result in a good grade. He even allowed tests to be retaken if too many people did not do well. He is a great teacher.
Not sure who would have written the two comments below, but they must have the wrong Dr. Ha. He is a horrible professor who will NOT help you understand anything under any circumstances. I have asked him repeatedly to explain one certain problem and each time he tells me he will not give me answers. I am asking for help. He fails to see that. =(
Very clear teacher
He is by far one of the worst teachers I have had. Other than the fact that he can not speak english, he is rude. He doesn't care about the students, he cares about his paycheck.
Horrible! Doesn't speak English well at all, tests are online but there are a lot of wrong answers and even when you prove your answers are right according to the textbook, he rarely will give you credit. It's not hard to get a B but an A is almost impossible unless you want to do every problem in the book. Honestly, he doesn't need to be teaching
Cant understand a word he says and he is a terrible teacher but all the tests are posted online so you can use whatever resources available which makes his class easy. You do have to do 2 group projects which are also fairly easy
There is a humbleness about him that makes me want to try. Most of the stuff he teaches is pointless and will not be applied to the real world. I rarely understand any of it at all, whether I read or not! However, he is very nice and anyone could appreciate his cute sense of humor:)
A bit tough to understand. He tries hard and has a lot of interesting stories about Japanese and Korean culture to get you motivated! The tests, all 5 of them, are cumulative, making them a bit easier since questions from chapter 1 and 2 are on every single test, bumping your score. All the tests are online, and he lets you take them from home.
Most Business students have to take him, he's hard to understand, goes from talking statstics to korean stories. he tries to keep his classes motivated, but your only graded on the 5 online exams and an easy group project.
You cannot understand him. He is not helpful when it comes to projects. If you ask questions in class, half the time, he does not understand what you are asking.
Avoid taking him at all costs. His notes pertain little to his exams. He doesnt try to make students understand, he simply tells them they didnt understand the material.
He was somewhat helpful. He would just respond that it is in the chapters. I thought I was failing the course. I scored very poorly on all exams but did decent on the two assignments. Much to my suprise He passed me with a B.
I know everyone has a difference of opinions about this teacher but I really didn't care for him. Not very clear (partly because he is Korean and not easy to understand). He feels that if you just do what he says you will pass but his methods don't make sense. I just don't recommend him.
Do not take him. He thinks it is your problem if he cannot comprehend your language or your thought process. He wants detailed work, however you can only get so technical with typing an assignment.

The class was very easy. For the exams, they were online and you could copy and paste them into google and get a website that gives you all of the answers.
I am a 4.0 student and have never missed a class. I am very good at math and related subjects but Dr. Ha is without a doubt the worst instructor I have ever taken. I got a C and that is the only grade other than A's I have ever received. I watched the lectures posted by MIT online which is the only reason I even passed. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS

I have to say that Dr. Ha is the worst teacher I have ever had. He is teaching a subject that is extremely difficult by nature and I feel as if he only makes it harder. There is an extreme language barrier and most of the time does not understand what you are asking. Tests are no longer online. Avoid his class at all costs.
Very hard to understand in both language and directional wise. If you do not have a strong math background, you will have to make the extra effort through study groups and his office hours to pass. He is willing to help if and only if you show him that you are going to give him a 100% effort.

They are nothing like his sample exams, much worse. Completely ruined my experience at Marshall and plans for graduation and other things currently going on. AVOID HIM!

Every one of these bad reviews are written by students who don't even try! It is true that Dr. Ha doesn't speak English the best, so he may be hard to understand, but he doesn't deserve the amount of negative comments he has received. If you consider yourself intelligent and hard working you will do fine. The exams are just like the sample tests.

Teaching techniques are good
There are 3 tests to make up the entire final grade. It is a very hard class, so study however you can. The class was not doing well, as a whole, but Dr. Ha did everything in his power to ensure we could all pass. If you try, he will try to meet you in the middle.
Had him for Stats online. The tests aren't that difficult if you study for them. He provides sample exams that are very similar to the actual test and are very helpful. If you ask him a question he usually responds within the hour, no matter time of day. Very helpful, very caring. Would Recommend over other stats teacher. Take Online.
All tests in the class make up the grade. He will not curve the tests so study hard. Also, he has no idea how to teach and makes the material harder than it needs to be. My advice would be to get tutoring and try to teach the material to yourself.
Just about the worst professor Ive had. He only grades on 4 exams and attendance (only 5 times through the entire semester/ so if youre not there one day youre out of luck). Hes rude and has offended me and my classmates multiple times. He makes a hard classes even harder. Do not recommend whatsoever.
Dr. Ha is more or less nice and will curve your grade if he sees that you are trying, but his only grades are three exams - no extra credit or homework. It helps to print out the practice test as the actual tests are difficult. Ive never had him in person, but he will do his best to help you via e-mail. Just beware of exams, especially stats.
I haven't even finished his class yet, but I can already give you a good rating of Dr. Ha. Run far away.... you can barely understand him 95% of the time. He acts like everyone should understand statistics despite the fact that 95% of the population (no pun intended) is going to ever use it after passing (or, more likely, failing) his class.
Only grades were three test. Being online class you're teaching yourself stats from a huge book and some powerpoint slides. He did curve tho

Never got the chance to speak with this professor, but Im sure he's great. However, i don't recommend taking this class with him if you have another option. The class is just 3 exams and thats it. Very hard to do well and you don't get any chances to really redeem yourself.

There are three to four tests for this class and these are your only grades for the class. No need to buy the textbook. He makes mistakes on exams so if you think you missed something you can message him and he will respond in a timely manner. Not a super hard class but you have to do well on the exams.
Randomly takes roll in class and assigns points to it. If you aren't there you don't get points. No other chances for points besides the exams and attendance which is like 20 points that span over 4 random days. He speeds through lectures and doesn't really know how to explain concepts to you if you aren't entirely understanding something.
The class is based on three exams. Three 25 question multiple choice exams. If you do poorly on any of them, good luck making up your grade. Avoid taking this class if possible.
There is no communication between student and professor. Only 3 exams in this course, no other grades. He sends PowerPoints of the chapters all in the first week of school, they do not help whatsoever. I went to a tutor and she helped me. There is no way I would've passed without a tutor. Most kids Fail or Withdrawal. In person class is % worse.
Daesung Ha's MGT-218 was exceptionally awful. This may have been the worst online course I have ever had the displeasure of taking as a Marshall junior. Only 3 exams and nothing else. Didn't even post the course material until week 2 of 6 in the accelerated summer term. I learned nothing and was incredibly fortunate to barely scrape by with the B-.
Ha is, by far, the worst professor I have ever encountered (as a senior). To combat the use of Quizlet, he changes the Qs/As by a tiny bit every semester. However, he does not check this thoroughly, which means sometimes there is no right answer and sometimes there are multiple right answers. This is incredibly frustrating and he rarely fixes it.

Do not take. He is a kind man, but he is a terrible teacher. He was awful at explaining things and answering questions because english isnt his first language so he misunderstands what you are asking, and explains things badly. The class is graded on 3 tests, so if you fail one test its over and he doesnt curve. Had to drop it after first test.

He does not curve, and gives random attendance points. I dropped his class bc there was no way I could pass. Save yourself the trouble and take someone else. I could rant about this guy for hours.
DO NOT TAKE. I am a straight A student, and I had to drop this class. You are graded by 3 exams and they are impossible. Nice guy, but terrible teacher and no matter how much you study outside of class you cant learn it. The highest grade on the exam that made me drop was a 57, and by the end of the semester EVERY SINGLE STUDENT HAD DROPPED IT!
Professor Ha's MGT218 class was a real challenge. The exams were tough, and his teaching style didn't click for me. But Unstuck ai was a lifesaver - it helped me prepare and actually learn the material.
