he is not easy or helpful. his test have nothing to do with his lectures at all.
This guy is the worst. He lectures directly out of the book with absolutely no input of his own, yet students are still expected to attend every class. He dropped me after only three absences and refused to re-admit me for a week.
very unhelpful. tested on material not covered in class or book. do NOT take classes from this man. did not answer questions in class, was not available outside of class for assistance.
WORST CLASS EVER!!! All you do is read a boring book, remember stupid lines, and try to take the test. Roll call makes sure you in his stupid class, to listen to him and his lame lectures, or trying to vent his political views. Avoid at all cost. Sh
Very rude, hard, unhelpful and boring teacher. Very Very boring lecture. All he does is to make us memorize figures. No class participation or group discussions. Tries to show himself as a strict person. No help outside clasNever Ever take his class.
I wish I would have read this board before signing up for his class. Thankfully I dropped out of Mr. Tedla's class after the 1st day! DITTO to all of the previous comments about Mr. Tedla.

Hard teacher.. Hard to follow. Reads dirctly from book all class.
You will have to work your butt off, but you will learn a lot.
Boo! Hiss! Tedla is more concerned with protecting his fragile ego than to actually impart any useful information in his class. He is snide, rude, and changes deadlines and requirements like the weather.
HARD CLASS very very very
as long as you're not a slack-jawed moron you will find this class as entertaining, and informative as I did. Tedla is willing to help you out if you're having any problems. My only warning is to expect a fairly heavy course load.
Tedla sucks. He is very rude, disrespectful, seems like he WANTS you to fail his class. Avoid him at all cost.
tedla is an easy grader, but gives a hard front. i like him a lot. however, he doesnt seem to like white kids all that much. if youre from another country he will love you though. at the end of the semester he grades very easy. stick it out with this guy.
This teacher is the worst... don't take him... Look for Paul Frank instead!!!
Great teacher providing your willing to talk to him after class, Incredibly helpful. If you are an idiot who wants to stroll in five minutes late take another class. He does not deal well with B.S If you want a great informative passionate teacher take Tedla.
Both classes were a challenge, but I learned a lot. Tedla is a different style, he doesn't hold the class' hand through sem. You either get it or you don't. But if you don't try, he really could give a crap if you fail. We got along well and I had to put in MAJOR work. I got A's in both classes.
I took his class right after high school and he does ask a lot of questions out of the text, he puts you on the spot, and makes you present in front of the class. He has strong opinions and be carefull if your late to class because he'll call you out. Make sure to read and stand your ground.worth it
I was shaking when i first entered his class, but a month later, it was ok.he seems arrogant but he's really cool.if you read the chapter, participate, come to class everyday, and not be late, you'll b fine.
Tedla can be intimidating but he gets better as time goes on...reads right out of the book so as long as you read the chapters the classes are pointless but BE SURE TO BE THERE EVERYDAY AND ON TIME late one day and be prepared to be on bad side..tests are long and ambigous got a B hoewever
He seems to respect students who know what is going on in the world and can participate in discussion with informed opinions. I sat near him, respectfully disagreeing about almost everything and still got an A. He has a sense of humor if you can find/work it. I like him.
Tedla is kind of a mixed bag. I thought about dropping so many times in the first month, but am glad I didn't. He makes it tough at first to weed people out. With that done, the class improves a lot. Tests are essay, but he gives you a list of possible questions in advance. Not easy, but good.
He is the worst teacher I've had for poli sci my major. I dropped his class a month later because class never made sense. I needed a teacher who wouldn't leave my confused all the time. His notes suck, and lectures are bad. Take Prof. Kathleen Collihan at ARC instead. She's the best, and has passion
Once you get to know him, you realize that he is not as tough as he lets on. He is very intelligent and understands a lot about what's going on in the world. Ask questions, and if he acts like a smart a**, act like one back. Go to his office hour if you don't understand, or just to discuss politics.
Sarcasm is great. But NOT when it's the only way you know how to communicate
NEVER GO ON A STUDY ABROAD TRIP WITH HIM. While he is passionate about the study of international relations, he is unreliable and self-serving.
THIS GUY WAS THE WORST! HE DOES NOT HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING BONE IN HIS BODY..HE IS VERY CLOSE MINDED AND NOT VERY HELPFUL...DONT TAKE THE CLASS!!! IF U DO, ARRIVE AT LEAST 30 MINS EARLY FOR YOUR BEST INTEREST
he is the worst teacher i have ever had
starts off very hard and finishes even harder. dont ever miss class and dont ever let him know you just wanna pass and get on with your life.
I am surprised at all the bad rates. I enjoyed the class and most of the lectures. I suspect those who spoke so lowly of him do not understand that this is COLLEGE and nothing shold be handed to any of us. He constructs the class so that if you apply yourself you will do fine. He's funny! better at the end of the year when theres less stress!
Overly sarcastic. Kind of mean. Intimidating. Not a good learning environment!
THis is a prof that makes it so you actually have to read the chapter or you won't do well on the tests. He loves percentages and reads almost from the book on some chapters but not an easy A by any means. He does curve tests if the whole class bombs the tests which mind did and that is how I got an A. He gives extra credit, its not very hard
He's very hard. He gives out 50 point mult. choice quizzes. (mini test) He's rude and very mean!
This teacher dropped me because I was 5 minutes late on the first day of class. After that I never was late or missed a class. He tried to drop me multiple times after that because he did not like me due to my tardiness in the first day. Although, the curriculum was fairly easy the teacher is rude and needs a new personality.
He's a very bad teacher and I could never understand what he says when he teaches. I would recommend that you don't take him.
its Tedla- enough said!
He tends to be very rude and very dry, but this method of teaching keeps his classroom very structured and clear of miscommunications. He is also very conciderate of everyones opinion. I love it.

Takes attendance EVERY DAY even though his lectures are straight from the book and totally useless. Marks you absent if you're more than 5 minutes late. Rude and unreasonable. Peculiar man. I would recommend taking just about anyone else but him simply for his grade school-like attendence policy. Oh and he gives random pop quizes too. Watch out!
Very unreasonable.Has a pet peeve about tardiness that is rather strange.Marks me absent for showing up one minute late even though i'm there the whole class period. His teaching method sucks. Justs reads out of the book and doesn't get into to big of discussion. His sense of humor is wierd cause he thinks acting like an **** is funny or something.
He is very unclear and very boring. If you want any kind of liveliness in the way you learn, do not take this class.
This class is for adults. Too many crybabies with regards to tardiness. Just show up on time and we will all learn!
Mr. Tedla is an interesting person, he will deffinitly weed you out if you are not intelligent, he makes alot of puns, just stay sharp and as long as you attempt to engage yourself in the class then you will do well, hes strict about tardyness but its not that hard to show up. Basically just show up and have a little knowledge on current events
Many dislike him due to his slightly off-putting personality, but I for one loved him. He demands what any serious college instructor should: respect, punctuality, attention. If you don't give him that, you probably shouldn't be in the class. I actually thank his class for the reason I got so into Politics. Oh, and he salsa dances!!
Demands a lot of time studying for his difficult tests, but luckilly he curves the scores. I liked his brand of intelligent, satirical humor, but I could see where it could be construed as "off-color". He knows the material well, but doesn't really go out of his way to make sure his students do. Don't take him if you're not too hip on politics.
Extremely strict on absents...Suprise Quizes...Very technical test...120-150 questions on all of test with less than 1 min per question...Think he is humerous...a lot of group and in front of class presentations on subject...but...let u out of class earlie frequently...curves his test becuz people score so bad...i finish with a B & had a C- b4 fina
Trys to project strict teacher image but thats not his real persona. Tests are diffucult but passable. I recommend watching CNN in order to keep conversation fresh. Has the sense of humor of James Bond villian but hey, I laughed.
If you dont like sarcasm and have a problem with showing up to class and ontime then you shouldn't take him. Group presentations w/ each section and he'll ask you questions if u look like u dont know what youre talking about. His tests require extensive studying - but if u realize its college, not high school, u should be fine.
This teacher is one of the worse teachers I have ever had. His lecturing is just reading out of the book so most people would do just as well in this class by skipping class and reading the material. His tests are on details and have nothing to do with ideaology. A complete waste of time.
Tedla may seem like he doesnt care, but i kept on him and he was of great help. taking his class made me more aware of news. his test are HUGE and he is very vague when explaining material. just watch the news, go to class, and skim through the chapters and you should easily pass.
Mr. Tedla is a good professor. He is very strict about being in class on time. He has a very sarcastic sense of humor. As long as you read the chapters, and study the test bank, i dont see any reason why you wouldnt be able to pass.
He's a great teacher, if you just stick to the txtbook, go to class and you'll be fine... his exams are mostly from the txt, so if you stick to reading da txt and the test bank, you'll be fine!! he has a sarcastic sense of humor, but still he's a great professor!! Easy A if dnt' have a problem with being on time to class and reading da txt!!!
This man is hot! Seriously folks, his class is interesting and informative. I wish I had taken it two years ago. Smart man.
Study and you'll pass. He isn't the greatest professor alive (some of his lectures seemed a little pointless) but if you go to him with a question then he'll take the time to answer it for you. He seems to be reasonably knowledgable about government, he just has a problem conveying that without being asked sometimes.
The only interesting thing I learned in this class was from the video The Panama Deception. He seemed completely uninterested and apathetic toward our class. His response was to go through useless ppt presentations, show old videos, and test straight out of the test bank, which is the only thing you need to succeed in this class.
PPT presentations for all of his lectures, which he clicks through way too quickly for human hands to follow and take notes! Panama Deception was good to see, but that's about it. Generally dull class, that I found to be a disappointment. HIS presentation needs some work, but he's helpful when asked. Despite his sardonic nature, he is approachable.
Tedla is SO boring. What he covers in class is not on the test, so make sure you study the test banks. He is also very strict with attendance and tardies. He marks you tardy if you are late. Even by a few minutes. The class is an easy A if you print out ALL the test banks, but there are a few confusing questions that he makes up.
He's a ridiculously sarcastic person...doesn't really answer questions either.
Don't expect any help from him whatsoever. If you email him, he probably won't get back to you. If he does, it won't be helpful. He is brilliant, but I get the feeling that what he is asking and what he is really wanting from the question are two seperate things. Flaky, and seemingly uninterested in anyone doing well in his class.
Tedla's lectures some are on PPT some just on the board. He really tries to help you out, he is sarcastic, but dont take it to the heart. Overall nice guy.
Hes a cool guy. learn to use his test bank.
use his test bank. he uses power point too much but read the book and u will be ok. or just study his test banks. hes a really cool teacher though if you talk to him. he tries to initiate discussion in class. give him your thoughts and it will make class go by faster
Tedla is very knowledgeable and has a passion for students who are WILLING to learn. As with other classes, you get what you put in. So folks who are blaming his lectures, sarcasms, or not being helpful, are perhaps the ones who didn't do well because they spent too much time criticizing Tedla as suppose to the course materials. He's very helpful!
This teacher is the worse. His lectures are short and doesn't relate to the test or exam. He says he puts study guide on blackboard, but he doesn't. Read the book twice and still his tests are still hard and the funny thing is that most people are getting C's or D's in his class and he doesn't curve or put any study guide up on blackboard. HE SUCKS
Typical african man, who doesnt mess around when it comes to education and attendace, sarcasm that needs to get used to but once you do he is aa great teacher to have...
This guy lies about everything. He offers extra credit and then when you try to turn it in, he won't accept it. He doesn't teach at all, so definitely read the text. I wouldn't recommend him. Oh and he gets mad when you leave class to go to the bathroom.
do what he says, it just part of the class. you can get by on just going to class and not reading the text but you'll get more out of the class and tedla if you read a lot. he has an interesting world view and since he teaches american and foreign gov, learning from him can give you an interesting view of the world as well. take him for what he is
Why this guy is still teaching is beyond me. I love politics and was a straight A student before this class. I did all the extra credit and studied hours for the test and still got a B. He does not teach-- literally. the people who gave him poor reviews are NOT exaggerating.
Really cool professor. Knows his stuff and is a cool guy.
Avoid this teacher like the bubonic plague! A's are pretty near impossible unless you want to try to argue your case a few times plus doing all available extra credit. Tests are good if he gives out a test bank w/ answers (which he only did on 1 of the 5), otherwise, you'd better memorize all random sentences in the book! Lectures=USELESS!!!
College isn't easy people. School is all about studying hard, & "reading your text." This professor isn't harsh. He is great! Just do the reading, study his test bank & attend class than it's an easy "A." Although he only provide a "few test bank" b 4 the test, it's your responsibility to read the text! I will definitely take him again. =)
This teacher is NOT for those who don't like to study. I went into this class knowing I was working full time and going to school full time. BIG mistake, I failed ALL of the tests - and it was all my fault. BUT, he passed me with a C. Maybe attending every class counts for something? Thanks for showing me mercy! lol.
This professor is not bad. I think he is great! For those who rate him harsh are probably the ones who didn't read the book/ didn't pass his class. He is cool. I would take hime again. He's very understanding. Two thumbs up for him =)
Great teacher. Big on the Socratic method. If your into politics and world affairs this is the teacher for you.
He covers a lot of information during the semester; it is very useful. He has a different political slant than I do but he makes the class enjoyable. He is a nice man.
What a wate of time. I often spent my class reading my other classes books or writting papers. Very boring, inconsistant, rude. I did well in his class but I wouldnt recomend taking him. A majority of the students in our class thought he was a joke. His scarastic comments are annoying and unecessary.
He's tough. The lectures were boring. You had to read every chapter and the exams had tons of questions. It was multiple choice but their were alot of questions. He always wanted the class to participate in debating one another. I learned very little. Attendance is a must. If your a minute late he will embarrass you in front of the class.
Great teacher. Yeah he calls out slackers and people who shouldn't even be taking this class, but hey deal with it. in the end if you at least try you will end up with a satisfying grade.
OMG no. dont take him. Lets just say I have a 3.8 (i highly ever get less than As in anything)and I freaking failed all the tests (until I had to drop in fear of my GPA going down). I studied my butt off and still, horrible. he gave us test banks, yeah i studied those and read the book, still got an F on tests. its like impossible to pass with him!
His tests were insanely hard and I got C's on all but two.One I got a B on and another I failed horribly.Attendance is a must as is reading the textbook.I read the textbook and my test grades were still not what I thought I should have gotten based on the amount of studying I did.He is a nice guy and I ended up with a high B in his class.I only mis
good teacher all around but you have to pay attention. gives study guides before every test and goes straight from the book. he also requires that you do some reading not from the book and stay on current events...tests are long like 160 questions....just pay attention
If your a good student, don't take this professor. He makes everything into a trick as if he is out to get us. Attendance is a must, but there is a take home final. I think he's a nice guy, but he tries to mess with his students.
Tedla does like to mess with his students, but I respected his objectivity when talking about political issues. He's actually very interesting. As far as grades, I EARNED my A and if you do the work and study more than just the night before, you'll be fine.
You need to read the book and its probably a good idea to read a newspaper every once in a while too. Have an opinion on controversial issues. He'll respect you if you speak up. And study for the damn tests. They're multiple choice, and not that hard.
He is an incredibly unclear teacher and the worst teacher I have ever had. His e-mails are unclear with grammar errors,he gives us the study guide and then locks it out 4 days before a test. He argues with his students about things being available-and they are not. I am going to the dean after I get my grade.
save yourself money, time, and a bad g.p.a WORST TEACHER EVER!!!!!! can't teach, spell and isn't knowledgeable at all on political issues. i've learned nothing from him. the text book is interesting though..but he absolutely is impossible. i've done all the reading and assignments and bombed all the tests. he's impossible. stay away!!!
I think he's a real serious guy. He does make fun of us half of the time, but I guess that's how he keeps himself from looking at the clock. LOL Anyways I like his tests. They're not hard compare to some teacher who gives rediculous quizes/tests. Thanks for a smooth semester.
This geezer should not be an instructor, I don not know how Sacaramento city college hired him, he is useless, good for nothing, his informations is outdated and inaccurate. Enroling in his class is wate of ur money and time, try Prof:Frank or prof:Xiao.
Well what can I say about this class. I wont say its a waste of time but if you dont know much about politics this is not the class to try to learn it in. The study guides are over 300 questions & I never figured out how to see if those answers are correct. Magically I did well but that was luck. He's not helpful at all.I
His online tests and quizzes are completely insane. I got all of my answers from the book and somehow they are still wrong. It is one week before finals and our grades are unknown from any assignments. DO NOT TAKE HIS ONLINE CLASS!!!
This professor was never helpful toward his students. In class all he did was a boring leture. He never tells you your grade, his teaching ethics are bad, considering he just yaps all class on topic and off topic. I wouldnt ever take this guy again for pols 301 he is a knockerton, i regret takin him.
All you need to do well in this class is the textbook, wikipedia, and a sense of humor. There are few written assignments, and the tests aren't really that hard if you study. It also helps if you keep up with the news. His English could be better, but its not incomprehensible, and in any case this is not an English class.
Online POLS 301 with Dagne Tedla was absolutely ridiculous. The first exam put me at a D in the class, luckily though the next two exams I brought myself up to an B. He doesn't reply to emails nor does he explain how the exams go. DO THE STUDY GUIDES. Even though I submitted all 4 essays on two I still have 0/0. He didn't grade them for some reaso
Worst teacher ever! He is lazy and annoying. When you email him explaining a situation or question - he takes a week to reply back and when he does reply he write FIVE words max - and in the end he doesn't even answer your question. I hate teachers like that. ANNOYING!!!
Took this class online & wouldn't recommend him to anyone who wants feedback, their questions answered or to be treated fairly. He literally ignored emails & never replied to my concerns. Questions are straight from the book so at least you have that on your side; exams are long, repetitive and tedious, simply to seem intimidating. NOT WORTH IT!!!!
Took this class Summer 10 as a 6 week online course. He scheduled our MANDATORY orientation for a Monday @9:00am which undoubtedly was inconvenient to those that had to work. His class calendar for quizzes/exams didn't match his release dates & closing times on D2L. Needless to say I missed an exam. He is also rude & disrespectful. Does not teach!
Very easy to pass the class, if you need it just to have full units. But it is useless waste of time. He does not take the class seriously, but expects students to. Disrespectful and often rude.
LAZY! His lectures are confusing and not helpful. He basis his course off of 3 exams. The exams are all 150 questions. He gives you a study guide that is 380 questions. Would not recommend this professor to anyone.
In the beginning i wasnt all that excited for the class, but in the end i really enjoyed it. its not a hard class to pass. read the book, pay attention and STUDY! EASY A:) i am going to take his next class for sure!
Funny/sarcastic teacher. His lectures are kind of useless though. Reading is mandatory. The Study Guide is long, but if you answer the questions, you'll know exactly what's on the exam. It's called EFFORT people! There were only two HW assignments and about 5 tests. I could be wrong. If you're late, you can't take the tests so be on time.
I dont understand why college students think professors should hold their hands. I'll admit that he is NOT the most approachable, but he presents the subject matter in his lecture & facilitates FANTASTIC discussion amongst students who actually care. Of course he EXPECTS that you've read the book & used his study guide. That's what it's there for!
Good Professor (302) also
I liked him. He was very sarcastic & made the class room fun. Very much into roundtable disscussion & they were all intresting. He's not quite approachable but as long as you take notes, read & pass his tests you'll do good.
Tedla's class is impossible. He requires attendance every day (three absences, no matter the reason and you are dropped). Nothing is taught in class; it felt like a review of my high school government class. His study guides are 200 pages long (not exaggerating) and his test questions are ridiculously detail-oriented.
Mr. Tedla was a great professor who is highly educated from all over the world and really knows a lot about all aspects of governments and cultures. he has a lengthy &unusual study guide, but if You do your work, it is worth it in the end.He lets you know that & does not baby anyone through the semester..I recommend him to any serious student..
Zero communication skills, which should be required to be an instructor for an online class. Took forever to receive a response from him. Usually condesending. Dropped because he was too unorganized and I didn't want to jepordize my GPA
He does not add, he teaches right off the book (literally, reads the book then writes notes on board). Heb is BORING, and does not know how to teach.
i don't get all the bad reviews. i thought he was a great teacher. I love the fact that test made up most of the grade. most ppl drop by the end of the semester cuz there lazy. great guy. material intensive. i loved the fact that we had to practice rhetoric and argue in class. helped me utilize a polisci skill you cant learn in a book.
I don't understand the bad reviews either. I will say that at the orientation for the online class he did come off as a bit intimidating but this is seriously the easiest class I have ever taken.
Took his online Political Science class. I read maybe 2 chapters out of the book and passed the class with an A. I didn't learn anything, but I passed. If that's the sort of thing you're into, this is your class!..But very unhelpful teacher; hard to contact, very short response back to email, and it took a long time for him to actually respond back
I took an online class with Mr. Tedla, who CHANGED THE FINAL EXAM TIME WITHOUT NOTIFYING ANY STUDENTS. I was not able to take the final and he was not lenient on giving me a "second chance" to. I received a C in the class even though all my other work was graded an A. Also, his attitude was dismissive and condescending.
He doesn't explain things well, very intimidating, very strict unlike other professors.
im taking this class online...this is the 4th week in and we have yet do turn in an assignment..he is very unclear and vague about everything and also very hard to get ahold of..almost every student has had the same issue unfortunately and the semester has just barely started...take someone else!
Disrespectful and if you're late by 5 minutes, he marks you absent and changes it. Tests are tedious and extremely hard. Book is mandatory, as is attendance. Complains if you need to use the bathroom. Lectures are useless. If you read the book you can pass, but tests are difficult to understand. 5 tests. ugh.
Just read your book and sit through the class don't miss a class or he is very rude. He is very unclear on what he wants in a test. Sometimes his lectures are in a different language. And he repeats useless words.
Horrible Professor. Lectures are confusing due to not able to understand what he says. Constantly correcting himself. DON'T TAKE!
He is a great professor! Attendance and class participation is important to him. As long as you respect his rules and study, the rest is easy. Cool professor with a good sense of humor.
This teacher was great. He knew details that the book didn't cover, and he gave his honest opinion. He also gave information on the things we asked and didn't feel he had to hold back anything. As long as you paid attention and actually went to class, it wasn't hard to pass.
He is has a hot accent, dresses nice, and seems to know his stuff. He is very positive. Attendance policy is strict.
Mr. Tedla is one of the most genuine teachers I have ever met. Although he has a strict policy with attendance, the class itself is great. You can tell that he truly cares about what he is teaching. As long as you attend class, do what is asked of you in and out of class, and study for the tests, you should be able to get an A. Great class overall!
Professor Tedla has been a great professor. I took him over the summer and his lectures are all based on powerpoint. As long as you read the book(very detailed) and look at the study guide, tests and exams everything will be a piece of cake.
I honestly don't see why his ratings are so low. I actually really liked his class! Government had been something I felt was hard for me to understand, but this guy was great at explaining it! In fact, I felt empowered to get out and vote this year. I would highly recommend him. He is strict on attendance, but he should be.
Decent professor, tests and exams are hard and way too many questions. Pay attention to detail. Exam study guides are practically useless (200+ questions). Read the text! Lectures don't really correlate with text or tests/exams. Attendance mandatory. Otherwise he's an alright guy.
1-2 Hw. Tests are essay questions he gives you in advance. Lectures don't relate to tests. You'll have to do research on the internet and find the answers in the textbook if you want to answer the questions correctly. Relatively easy class to pass. Just prepare for the exams when announced. There is also 1 map test of some countries, not all.
Hes great and explains things well. Strict on attendance as should be expected. Study guides real helpful. I would advise to make sur eyou read the textbook.
Great professor. Just show up and participate. I actually really enjoyed taking the class. You should read text book to keep grade up. He is strict on attendance. But every teacher should be. By far one of my favorite teachers.
I wouldn´t recommend this teacher.
Raced through lectures and finished class at least 20-30 mins early every time. Exams are extremely easy if you use the study guide which is based on the textbook. Helpful if you talk to him one-on-one. A good teacher for students who learn well by themselves, but not so good if you need more support.
He's nice enough, just not very helpful. Heavily dependent on the text book. Class time is pretty much a waste since he just repeats what the book says
He's an excellent communicator.
Tedla is my Favorite teacher at the moment. His class is really interesting. I know he is uptight about cellphones and attendance but thats how it should be. I REALLY RECOMMEND HIM.
Strict on attendance and tardiness. Long multiple choice study guides that should help you on the exams. He uses Powerpoints to lecture class. He is a cool guy!
Professor Tedla is an excellent instructor. He's fun and helpful. Don't be late to his class or he'll rightfully drop you after too many. I highly recommend taking his class.
This teacher is and always will be horrible and heartless. His attendance policy on his syllabus states that if you're late or miss more than 2 classes you will be dropped. I was late twice and I got dropped… He should just say on it, you can only miss one class and if you have car trouble the next time, don't bother coming again. Please be clear.
PoliSci is an interesting subject but with Prof. Tedla ,not so much. His attitude is very negative. He is easily irritated if someone uses the restroom during his lectures. He hates cells phones and his attendance policy is very strict. Do the reading and you’ll pass the class. The tests are easy if you review the study guide 200+ questions.
Professor Tedla was an awesome teacher! He was very helpful, and really funny. If you read the textbook you'll do fine on the tests and quizzes.
Only take this class if you already know everything there is to know about government. He's extremely funny but he honestly teaches you nothing :/
He is a really nice and funny professor. In order to pass the class you really need to study and read your textbook. I highly recommend to do the study guides that are 200+ questions. He is really strict about attendance so make sure to be there on time. Good luck!
TERRIBLE! This professor is extremely unhelpful and extremely rude! If taking this course online be prepared to spend 3-5 hours on tests! He takes multiple days to respond by email, which is extremely frustrating in an ONLINE class when you have no other way of contacting the professor! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Take this class if you are a self learner who wants to avoid deadlines to juggle. zero homework to reinforce your reading. You have to practice on your own. There are only three tests. They are 125 questions each. you have very little time to complete tests so be ready. Power points are weak, mostly bullet pointed reminders for the professor.
PROFESSOR TEDLA IS A VERY EXCELLENT AND NICE PROFESSOR. HE GIVES MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION STUDY GUIDES WHICH GETS YOU READY FOR THE EXAM. HIS ONLINE SUMMER CLASS WAS PRETTY LAID BACK. THE QUIZES AND EXAMS WERE ALL ONLINE. THE STUDY GUIDES ARE KIND OF LONG AND TIME CONSUMING BUT IF YOU DO THEM , YOU WOULD GET AN A. I WOULD TAKE HIS CLASS.
Took FOREVER to respond to my emails & he was quite rude. I could NOT take this class because I WORK, HAVE OTHER CLASSES, & A FAMILY. Quizzes & tests are open for VERY SMALL timeframes MID-DAY & MID-WEEK--be prepared to take tests in the middle of your workday.
Professor Tedla is no joke but if you are really interested in political Science, you will like him. Not an easy grader but if you participate, come to class and are willing to work you will learn alot and get a good grade. exams are all essays and he is looking for examples. If you give him what he wants (examples) you will do fine.
Unless you absolutely need it don't take his classes. Take any of Paul Frank's classes especially the CA politics one, which is easy and an enjoyable class. Tedla is a smart guy, who knows his stuff. However, the class is not structured correctly. Bad group assignments. ESL, lazy or shy people stay away!
I agree Paul Frank's classes are better. Tedla is a very knowledgeable guy, but the class has no real structure to it. Very dry sterile expensive book! Choose your groups mates wisely for the final project , or you will be screwed by the lazy ones. This class is NOT like his Pols 301 class for those that had him .LATE 3 * AND U R DROPPED!
Very knowledgeable! No midterm, the catch is the 3 exams he givesare equally weighed. All exams with exception of tests have study guides. He provides extra credit. If you read and study his guide, it should be easy. He is also pretty strict about late comers. There is probably 2-3 group presentations on questions he generates based on the reading.
Professor Tedla is a good professor. He knows his politics and does his best to present information in an unbiased fashion. The grading structure was 3 exams (all MCQ), 2 quizzes, and 2 one page papers. Study guides are given for the 3 exams, which are identical to the questions on the texts. No midterm or final. Lectures are usually PPT.
He's a pretty straight forward teacher. Here's a big tip: READ THE CHAPTER AHEAD OF TIME AND TAKE NOTES ON IT THEN ADD IN MORE DURING HIS LECTURES. Sometimes his lectures are a little vague. I definitely could have done better if I would have used the text more and not relied on the lectures.
Tedla's exams are extremely long. Over 100 questions each exam for just a few chapters. His lectures will put you to sleep, they don't say anything different than what the textbook states. One minute late to class, marked absent for the day. He will drop you if you miss a couple classes, even if you were only a minute late. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Professor Tedla is pretty good for the most part. He's pretty understanding one on one. If you're late he'll mark you absent for the day. There is a lot of reading to do and his tests are pretty hard but if you do the study guide online it helps you prepare for the test. So read, do the study guides and don't be late to class
I'm taking my first online class with him so I don't really know how it works. Not only did he not respond to my emails he did nothing at all to help answer my questions. There's no textbook listed for his class and when I asked him he didn't answer. His syllabus offers little information too. I have no clue what's going on in his class
Doesn't keep you updated with grades. Its literally the last day of the semester and I have not seen a single grade. Would not take him, not very helpful. Poli-Sci Professors like him, make me want to change my major to psychology to find out why the hell he sucks so much as a professor.
He is just plain awful. He enters your grades wrong, will not fix them. Getting a hold of him is impossible. He is not every clear. His tests a ridiculously long and the study guides are even longer. He doesn't teach well. Take another course.
Important info: -marks you tardy for being late (even if 1 min late) -serious about his teaching -all material learned and taught right out of the textbook -READ READ READ the textbook!!!!!!! -syllabus has all info/requirement for class -offers extra credits -take notes -3 exams (no final) -study guide contains over 100 questions
There's definitely class participation. After the economy presentation on a chosen country, I thought I was going to get a sloppy grade around C or lower, but he was pretty lenient on the grading and I got a B. Nice guy, cool accent though understandable. Jokes around a bit when he gets comfortable with the class, I would take another class w/ him
Very strict on attendance, counts being tardy as full day absences and will drop you without notice if absent more than twice! class has no real structure to it & doesnt really follow syllabus. tbh, this guy is not nice, he's the kind of prof that doesnt really care if you succeed in class or not--I do NOT recommend, only take him if you have to.
This teacher is trash. He does not teach. He simply turns on the power point that is made by the book publisher and then skips about half of all material, the only way to pass his class is to be a pretty girl. If you take this professor prepare to be on your own and teach yourself. To be honest I don't know how this guy got to be a teacher.
This class was frustrating for me. It was very disorganized, especially for being an online class, confusing, and contacting the professor was near impossible. The grading on the tests were off and he did not want to fix it. The tests are ridiculously long and the "study guide" is just a 300 questions quiz. Don't take this class online.
I took professor Tedla online and I though it was an easy class and I don't even like Political Science at all. His syllabus was straight forward and his study guide that he has you do online is the exact same thing as the exams. The exam online is open book and open notes so it shouldn't be to hard. He respond fairly quickly to emails.
Tedla may be smart, but is also lazy. He was unable to organize a syllabus and stay on schedule. He did not ever post grades or give a midterm report, and he rarely responds to emails. He demands on time attendance and publicly scorns students who need to use the restroom. His lectures are dry and his group projects grueling. He is complacent.
If you have to take an online class, DO NOT TAKE THIS ONE! He may be great for onsite class, but for online, A NO NO! Here are reasons: Very unstructured class Messy D2L class page Rude Does not respond to emails in a timely manner Tries to blame you, the student in order to cover up his laziness Grading errors Absentee professor
The final was a brutal 20 page term paper. Do NOT show up late. The map tests were a joke. I didn't mind the group project, but I had a pretty awesome group. If you quote the book on tests you will get an A. He doesn't respond to emails and asking what your grade is, is pointless. Communication is not his forte. Do the work well you'll get an A.
I actually had to drop this class. His assignments and gradebook didn't match, he does not communicate well( it is hard to follow what he is saying), assignments are vague, he will not clear previous semester info from the website(adds online confusion), hardly answers email, and when he does he refuses to answer your questions. Pick someone else!
This is the most unorganized online class I have ever taken at any Los Rios school. Tedla will not reply to any emails and offers no other way to contact him. He does not give any insight on the material, you are just expected to read it and then take the exam. The only help he offers is a 259+ question practice exam. Avoid this professor!!
Lame layout of course content. Had material from multiple other semesters that needed to be waded through. Making assignments and exams due at 12am which means you have no ability to utilize that date (why not 11:59 on the date its actually due like every other online class)
DO THE ONLINE PRACTICE TESTS! He usually picks 100% of the questions straight from these. He is a little unorganized, also had issues emailing back if your taking class online. But overall the class was pretty easy. Read the chapters. You'll be fine
This professor was RIDICULOUS. He was so disorganized, he shouldn't be allowed to teach online. I would get 6 of the exact same email which would be a link to some story about miracles. Not related in any way to the class. I emailed him asking for due dates because the online content was all over the place and was for his PoliS class from 2014.
Tedla is just ok. 1 tip: save test grades for reference because he might just enter whatever grade he feels like for the final, so be prepared to calculate your own grade as proof and show him. Test q's are literally from the book, so do the reading and you'll be fine. Easy A, but don't expect him to do anything extra to help you.
Professor Tedla's class was very easy to get an A in but his online class was very disorganized. Looking at the grade page I was "missing" more than half of the assignments at the end of the semester even though I did them all. He had just left assignments from past courses that he did not assign this semester. He also doesn't respond to emails.
He is incredibly disorganized. His in class lectures and tests don't line up, the assignments given relate to videos that don't relate to the class, his tests are unreasonably long (110 Qs). I missed one day and I wanted to make up the assignment. I emailed him that same day. He responded a week later saying it was too late, should've been there.
Disorganized. Lectures do not line up with tests or quizzes. Study guides are always 150+ and rarely cover the important material on the test or quizzes.
Immediately after doing a tough but reasonable group assignment, his final exam was basically everything you did for your group work but for every other country. Only this time all by yourself rather than the work being divided. Im an A/B student, but struggled to keep up with his confusing and overbearing assignments. Hes also strict about time.
I took the online class I did all his tests and quizzes and discussions and got A on all of them, but when I checked my transcript I got an F for no reason and he does not respond to my email. worst instructor in the history.
I think that professor Tedla is a very knowledgable person, but he definitely needs to be more organized, I never knew where I stood throughout the semester.
Easy class. Mainly talked about current issues and there were about 5 tests overall with no homework other than 2-3 one page responses. Study guides ranged from 100-300 questions but tests were 100 questions. The questions for tests were taken directly off study guides. If you participate and are informed on todays topics he will like you.
Avoid at all costs. His attendance policy is extreme, miss class more than twice and he will drop you and he also counts tardies as absences. He almost never passes back work and you never really know where you stand in the class until the end. He's rude and gives attitude when you ask him questions. He is very funny though I'll give him that.
Horrible. Rude
Even though I ended the semester with an A, i honestly do not know how. He doesnt input any grades at all until the final grade. We used the textbook about once or twice the whole semester. He can be very arrogant and rude. Dont be late or absent! Class was easy but not fun nor interesting most people dropped class. Did not learn much.
He is an alright professor. He does care about your learning. He is very strict on attendance. His map tests are hard. He is a lenient grader and gives good feedback. He cares about good classroom participation and allows students to have their own opinion, but he is very vocal(which I like). Show up and do your work and you will be fine.
Easy class to pass. I'm honestly not a try hard student but I just studied the study guides and managed to get an A; they were long but definitely worth it. Lectures most of class, shows videos, class discussions where you answer questions given to your group the class before. Tests were basically questions from study guides and his lectures.
The worst online professor I've ever take. She is very tough grader. She is rude. she is very lazy. She graded our papers on the last day of the class. Nobody knew what their grade were until we heard back from the school in eserviese. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU WANT TO PASS THE CLASS WITH A FAIR GRADE.
His in person class is heavily weighted on whether or not you read the textbook. All tests and exams are based entirely on the reading, not his lectures. So just read and study the textbook and you'll be fine. He is strict on attendance, which I dont understand since you dont really learn anything you cant learn in the book. 3 exams, no final exam
Tedla is an alright professor. You gotta ask him a lot of questions about your assignments because he doesn't always make it clear exactly how or what he wants.
He originally presented a syllabus that had dates and references from at least a year old. Wrong days and still telling us to access D2L, a site not used for 2 semesters. He changed test and exam dates more than twice at the last second. Lets put it this way, there was only 14 people left in class halfway through. Awful educator. Among the dregs
I slept through lectures and read the book and passed. he will have conversations during class that have nothing to do with material, however; requires that you attend. his test questions are usually trick questions so memorize the textbook.
Unfortunately, Prof. D is not computer literate, and a little disorganized, so looking for the assignments in CANVAS requires patience. Be sure to read the chapters BEFORE you get to class - pop quizzes happen. He doesn't go over tests afterwards, so you won't know why you got things wrong. I found his class frustrating, despite liking the subject
He is a great human being, excellent guy , very caring , respectful. Treat all students equally. I was afraid of taking him , but he proved me wrong. I definitely recommend him to all political Science major students , and if you wont take him , then you will regret. I mean it. The easiest class , and we had lots of fun. helpful , friendly guy
There was a whole issue at the bookstore with the professor claiming he ordered the 9th edition textbook instead of the 8th funny thing was that on canvas it still said the 8th edition and the professor never informed us about it. Moving on to the test, seriously who gives a 110 question test in 95 minutes? You don't even have a chance to think.
I seen many bad rates but took a chance with him and I regret it. He should not be able to teach an online class because he changes the dates all the time. The due dates in the grade book doesn't correspond with the open and close date to the actual assignment. Take another online professor if you can.
You know, I was talking to my daughter the other day and I told her I really hate my job -an actual quote
Dont take this class if u have a tendency to be late, he will stop class to stare at u. His lectures are straight from the book thru powerpoint. tough grader, but he will understand absences if u communicate. Has given us the answers to quizzes before. USE HIS STUDY GUIDES THEY ARE EXACTLY LIKE THE EXAMS!!!!
Professor Tedla teaches straight from the textbook which includes all of his PowerPoints. His class is easy if you do the study guides but he will throw things at you that werent on them so be prepared.
Prof. Tedla us truly not the sharpest tool in the shed. He is very disorganized on the app Canvas which in turn caused me a bunch of headaches. The class was mainly me just reading the textbook making a half effort to do the work and then receiving an A. Us the pre-post-test, he pulls questions from them and reuses then on the exams!
If you are either law or any sort of political science major, DO NOT take this professor! Read the other reviews following this one and you will see why. He does not teach whatsoever and is absolutely ABYSMAL when he does. Much of the material is from the book, but will throw you curveballs on the test that you will have to answer to his liking.
Professor Tedla is a strict person. In fact, he teaches everything from powerpoint and gives the exam guide but sometimes there are many exam questions not on the guide. Being prepared for the parts he gave you on guide, and work hard yourself on other parts. This semester due to COVID 19 the class translate to online and the exam becomes easy.
Professor Tedla is every disorganize but the class wasn't really hard. You had to write a page paper for every chapter but they went that bad either. He is kinda a slow grader and you take pre and post quizzes for every chapter and have tests and exams. The book is required but I think you don't really need it.
He assigned me the wrong group for a presentation and when my actual group presented (who I hadnt contacted due to not knowing they were my group) I was left unprepared. He gave me a worse grade than everyone else in the group since I didnt help with the PPT even though I had no way of doing so. Teaches out of book 100% of the time, unorganized
While taking this professors class became injured with very excruciating nerve damage. Even with documentation and notes from doctors I was not allowed more time to accommodate my disability. Unclear instructions and bad attitude.
Tried to get students to buy into a SAGE publishing deal and go outside of Canvas for weird assignments and documentation. Unclear instructions made of 2 sentences asking you to describe entire political philosophies, which will then get marked down for not following the unspecified essay format. Cannot in good faith recommend this professor.
If you're like me, and have no issue reading through chapters on your own and then writing an essay for each, this class is a good choice. Textbook is mandatory, the SAGE thing is not. There were a few multiple choice exams and quizzes that were easy to take if you read the chapters at least once and write the essays.
Prof. Tedla gives two extra-credit opportunities: one at the beginning of the semester and one at the end of it. He *might* give an additional chance for extra-credit if he sees that the class needs it. To pass you must be independent and study the material on your own. He did not require a special component; only the book.
Online during covid I nearly forgot about his course and had loads of assignments to catch up on. He has been using SAGE Vantage online as a textbook and while it makes it easier to learn I am floored by the amount of reading. Hes a kind teacher that will message you if you miss an important assignment. Hes tough though.
Took his POLS302 for the Fall 2021 semester, we were fully online, and was one of the easiest classes of the semester. Just chapter review (page long) and a chapter quiz (20 questions) every chapter and a midterm and a final. He gave easy extra credit opportunities at the beginning of the semester. Definitely was an easy A, NEED THE BOOK
My primary issue is with the due dates at 11:59 AM or 11:59 PM, which is psychotic. If you're better at planning and time management, then this class could work for you. Otherwise, save yourself the trouble. I only took his class because I'm an IR major. I wish I could've avoided him altogether.
I didn't enjoy how the class would jump around in due time. Most weeks, assignments were due at 11:59 pm, but randomly in the semester, there would be a due time of 10:59 pm. The work itself isn't that difficult if you follow the book exactly, but sometimes I'd get marked down with 0 explanation. I feel like I didn't learn anything from this class.
Ex. of what this prof is like. Gave midterm on a Sunday that was locked on canvas, once unlocked there was 24 hours to complete. Of the 15 hours you're awake you must complete four essay response questions worth 25% of your grade. If you have a job of those 14 hours you only have 6 hours to complete essays worth 25% of everything. Tough grader
I learned a lot and I have learned a lot about the topic, more than I expected. He is clear with instructions and grading.
A LOT of reading and the chapters are LONG. If you like Politics though, you will like this class. Learned a lot of valuable information that I think will benefit me down the road. Being able to summarize main points on topics is critical to get a good grade. Quizzes are fairly easy as long as you read the chapters and paid attention.
VERY ANNOYING ATTITUDE AND DEVASTATING LOOKING.
