Daisy might be the best math professor at Pierce. I was TERRIBLE at math before I took her class. She explains everything fantastically, she treats her students like adults and she's easily one of the nicest professors I've ever had in my entire college career. Highly recommend.

Lectures are easy to understand and is so nice!! Working on problems in class helps alot and she is willing to answer any questions.

The class is different but she was very helpful during office hours and explained things clearly....wish she was teaching the 2nd part in spring!

Personally, I am AWFUL at math and I didn't know what to expect at the beginning. However, if u ask for help she is extremely nice and will help you until you fully understand it. Very nice professor. In class, she does move kind of fast but if you ask questions she will do her best to help you. If you want a nice math teacher, take her!

Daisy is without a doubt one of the best professors on campus. She's super chill, devoted, and fair. She welcomes questions and clearly states what she is looking for from her students both verbally and in her syllabus. The homework and study guides actually help with her exams, too! Overall, would definitely recommend.

Daisy was the best math teacher i've had at pierce. The way she taught material made it easy to understand. This is a tough class, but she makes it as easy as anyone could. The study guide help tremendously on the tests. She is just a nice person that can relate to her students and tries her best to help.

Daisy is a wonderful instructor. Her powerpoint sides are clearer than the textbook and helpful. She gives review sheets and samples that are simmilar to the tests. Took the class this summer for a fast pace 5-week class so it was hard but she was nice and answered any questions you may have. Headed into the final with a B and got an A!!!!!

She was really great, I had her for two classes and if you study you will easily pass her class. She is patient with me and re-explains everything as many times as needed. I hope I have more math teachers like her in the future.

Crazy hard class but Daisy Lam is so helpful! Clearly explains what is expected in the syllabus and if you can do the problems on her review you should pass the exams. NO CRAZY SURPRISES ON EXAM THANK GOD! Very helpful in office hours! If you don't like to do work and be lazy don't take the class. Passed this class and finally transferred!!

Our class was extremely funny and it kept lectures entertaining even though the material is difficult. Looking at the other remarks here it seems like most agree with my thoughts of Ms Lam. Ms Lam is always willing to help and helped me a lot through e-mails even over the weekend. Explanation were always clear. Wonderful person and teacher.

Professor Lam is one of the greatest math professor I've ever had. Her lectures are very clear, she doesnt move on to the next lesson until she makes sure every student understands the material. Great teacher!

Math is my weakest subject so I was scared of taking stats. If I hadn't taken Daisy I would've for sure failed. Never in my life have I taken a math teacher as helpful as her, she explains everything so well but you have to pay attention! Don't miss class and you'll be fine. It takes effort so ask questions or else you'll fall back. She's amazing!

Great, but i gotta agree with the person under me. She is really lazy in class. Make sure to go to her office hours. Words to the wise: make sure to do her homework the night of the lecture to be caught up!

Daisy was great, she was young and really understood how to help you understand, however this was only a luxury if you ASK. Just ask any questions you have and she'll answer them completely.

She very clear and has excellent power points that she posts on Moodle. The class is tough. When people don't understand things she's said over and over again she tends to sigh and roll her eyes. I don't think she realizes that she's doing it or that it's condescending. If you ask for tutoring she's always happy to help. Doesn't joke much.

Professor Lam is great! Lectures are very helpful, so take good notes, study every day to not fall behind. Go to her office hours when you don't understand the section, she does appx. a section every day if it is an everyday class. Ask questions if confused during lecture she goes pretty fast. Put time and effort and you will be fine.

VERY helpful. She tries to make you understand rather than just tell you the answers. If you're lazy and don't study then you won't pass. The material is hard but she's clear and relatable. Wish she was teaching cal 3!!!!

Lam really helped me understand Beginning Algebra. She breaks everything down very succinctly and logically and really helped us break down word problems and how to translate the answers back into sentences. Will help you gain a thorough understanding of the subject matter. Assigns a lot of HW & if you do it all you will pass the tests easily.

She is a great math instructor. She is patient and always answers questions. She gives practice tests before exams, homework on MathLab, and teaches from her own style and doesn't use the textbook. I really enjoyed her class. Expect a lot of homework on MathLab, but it prepares you for the exams, which are multiple choice and work out.

I really enjoyed her class. Everything was clear and precise. Her method of teaching is effective and motivates you to interact. She assigns homework by section all due on a specific date, would recommend to do a section a day.

Wow where do I start? I hated math until I took a class with Professor Lam. She is the most caring, respectful, amazing professor. She made me love math. She teaches clearly. She is always available for extra help; in fact she encourages everyone to seek extra help. I will be taking more math classes with her she's amazing!!

I had a fun time I class. I usually have a really hard time in math but with the way she teaches I felt like this class was a breeze.

Had the opportunity to take her for a full year for 228A and B and she is awesome!!!! She really cares about her students learning and her lectures are awesome.

She definitely knows how to teach this subject. If you have a question about something she has no problem offering you extra help. Graded on 6 exams, final, homework, and participation. Her exams are challenging especially the true and false questions. The final exam is a common final, I definitely felt prepared for it because of her.

If you're looking for a good statsway professor, then take her! I just finished statsway B with her and I already miss her and the friends I made in her class. She gives study guides and reviews before the math test, which comes in handy. She was much better than Howie Schwesky when I had him. Don't hesitate, and just take her please! Ty Ms. Lam!

This professor changes life. I hated math in high school, until i came to her class. She has a way pf teaching that makes people understand! she gives many examples while taking notes that makes the topic stick to you. Her tests are easy, she will not give you 15 problems most, and it will be exact problems from what we studied. NO quizzes! love

Professor Lam is an amazing professor, for those who are complaining about how difficult her exams are its because the majority of them never went to her office hours or tutoring. Lack of effort wont help you pass, i had trouble passing but i kept going to class and eventually passed with a C. Her teachings are amazing, its just the exams..

I really liked this professor. She was very clear in what I needed to do to get an A. We used MyMathLab. I didn't love some of the videos we used. It was always a different person on the math lectures. And some were great and others not. Hard class, but Inter Algebra is supposed to be. Good professor though.

She's by far the best math professor I've had. I usually struggle in math, but her teaching method is extremely clear and works for everyone. You can tell she's passionate about what she does and wants her students to understand. Don't hesitate to take her class!

Hey Guys! So I disagree with all the negative reviews prof Lam has. She is really awesome and wants her students to succeed. Do all the homework! most of the problems are similar to whats on the exams. Exams are never harder than the homework actually is! If you really keep up with the work you can totally get an A. One of my fav math profs! :D

One of the best in the math department. Extremely well organized and gives great notes, listens and explains well. Available after class and will provide extra material to prepare for tests. Test should be a breeze if you follow the lecture and read the notes thoroughly.

Professor Lam made Statistics as clear as she possibly could. The subject can get confusing at times, but she tries her best to make sure that everyone understands. Class is mostly graded on tests. There were 7 exams, biweekly. If you understand the material prior to the test you will be fine. Review days before test day. Great instructor!

Took this class fall 2017. She is one of the few professors that actually know how to teach Math! I love her because she is so organized. I read all notes, did all the hw and that helped on the test. You need to master the material fast in order to stay on track, but overall very nice, patient and helpful professor! (5 tests, 3 quizzes)

A+ teacher who tries to ensure you understand everything. People complaining about too much HW or difficulty of tests aren't living in the real world. If you don't show up to class, do the homework or attend her office hours if you need help then that's your fault, not hers. Would definitely have her as a professor again and recommend her highly!

i took her for spring semester. gr8 professor! knows her stuff and is such a good educator. cares for her students and always asks if ppl have questions. 6 exams & monthly quizzes. tests r less than 15 questions, so each question is worth 10-15 pts. that's the only downside, but it makes u study. you DON'T need to know precal for this class!!

There may be a decent amount of homework, but it only helps in practice for quizzes and exams anyways. She is always willing to explain further and has accessible office hours for those who need help. Her explanations are clear cut and lectured notes are in step by step format. Don't miss class if you're struggling!

As a person with little math experience, Professor Lam is always there to help me succeed. Never did I think about Business Calculus, and when I had to take it for my major, I was terrified. But, Professor Lam outlines the the importance of mathematics and its applications. You get out of it what you put into it. Dedication is key.

As hard as statistics is, this professor gives very helpful handouts with all the formulas in, adn very oraganized. Plus you can use a little note with formulas in the test.

Good professor. She's nice and extraordinarily organized in lectures (good thing). She's also generous when she grades an exam, always giving you a point here or there, even if there's a mistake (good thing). The hardest part about this class is that you cannot skip any lectures. If you skip, you will get lost in the material.

Explains material simply and efficiently. Offers extra credit that counts towards tests, which is SUPER helpful. She is very kind and does not talk down to students when explaining questions.

Mrs. Lam is awesome, she is very clear on what she wants from you. Tests were short and to the point, she tells you every chapter that will be on the test. I am taking her stat class during COVID and zoom calls with her are on topic and easy to follow. She is big on attendance. Super helpful and very understanding. Would help students out alot.

100% recommend Prof Lam! I took calc BC back in high school so I kinda understood most of it already. However, there was a few topics that I was completely lost on back then, but Prof Lam taught so well that I was finally able to understand them. If you did well on the final, she replaced your lowest test score with the grade you got on your final.

Professor lam was great! She allowed notes on exams and she made stats incredibly easy, this coming from someone who often struggled with math. Anticipation is a part of your grade and she takes attendance at the beginning of every class. Shes also really sweet and allows three tries per homework question. I took statistics with Professor Lam fall 2020, she was very flexible to have open hours for tutoring, very quick to respond in emails. For the exams it was challenging, she grades hard. She gives extra credit at the end of he semester. I really liked her even though I didnt pass since math is difficult for me she was a great Professor. Would rec.

Professor Lam is the BEST math professor I've had. I wouldn't say she's necessarily difficult, it's more that the actual subject is difficult because she is very organized and teaches well. Tests and quizzes are all free response, never multiple choice so if you're not a great test taker she might not be for you.

Calc 2 is a challenging subject, but prof. Lam makes everything easy to understand and something you will be capable of doing. Her quizzes and exams are relatively challenging, but the homework and study guides she provides prepare you well beyond the material on those.

Great prof and class! She gives tons of partial credit on exams/quizzes, even if you did some steps wrong. The exams are weighted heavily, but theres EC offered. HW wasnt bad at all. The final was ehh, but not too bad. Shes big on attendance, so definitely show up! Overall, very generous grader and very good at explaining math, even over Zoom :)

Professor Lam is an excellent teacher. You can often see her frustrated at times with lack of participation but other than that she provides lots of studying material for your test. Everything is open note, and she is always happy to answer any questions. Great professor, just be prepared to study a decent amount.

Awesome teacher. The subject is not easy but she explains everything very well. Classes were on zoom 4 days a week. She records attendance and participation (which are part of the grade). There was an extra credit opportunity at the end of semester. Financial calculator is required. She is fair, very organized, and grades exams very quickly.

Great Stats professor. I took this class online, during the summer. Professor Lam is extremely organized, and makes lectures very easy to understand. She answers all student questions thoroughly and explains them in a very-easy-to-understand manner. She is a professor who will GLADLY and HAPPILY answer any lecture questions. YKYK Take her class.

Professor Daily Lam Williams is amazing. The highest praise I can give her is to state that she cares about her students and will work really hard to make sure that her students succeed. That being said, in my opinion those students who didn't like her class were unrealistic as to the demands of college math. Please use the tutoring services.

Professor Daisy Williams is one of the best math Professors I've ever had. She's very kind and repeatedly goes over concepts in class, and her study guides are super helpful. - a lot of the lectures were easy to understand - when lessons got difficult she definitely helps and goes out of her own way to help you understand - it felt like i was studying for tests and doing homework back to back; make sure to manage your time well - try to do your best on tests, she gets upset when the class average is low

RELIABLE. As someone who's always struggled with Math, I love how she explains the concepts step-by-step. Pay attention to her study guides and her lecture notes. She also gives extra credit on exams! Replaces your lowest exam with the final exam if it helps boost your grade. LOVE HER!!

Love her. I took her for stats in the summer, from the start I could already tell she put a lot of work into organizing the course to be doable in such a short amount of time. It was not easy, her effort made it possible. We had a covid outbreak, STILL she was super accessible and made changes to the course based on student request. She funny too!

I had her for Calc 2 last semester and she was amazing!! Had office hours every day, and would help on homework problems if you went to see her. Extra credit problems at the end of every test, and notecards allowed on both tests and quizzes. Highly recommend taking advantage of office hours.

This is the best teacher at Pierce hands down. Her class is super easy to follow and she cares about you learning. The best part of the class is that she allows one standard flashcard front and back to be used on the test and you can write whatever you want on it. I'm not kidding when I tell you I fit everything in the lecture on that notecard.

I took her online class. She responds to emails really fast. Make sure to go to her office hours cause she will sit with you and help you understand more. One of the best professors I've taken. Show up to class, as she is good at explaining concepts, and also how she would expect to see YOUR answers on the exams (correct work shown, explanations, etc..) Always asks if you want her to clarify something during the lesson, helps people when we are doing practice problems, has office hours. A great prof.

I loved her class. She allowed a notecard for every exam and because of that I never had to study. Probably not the best thing but I got a 96%. She uses lecture slides during class which many can find boring which is something to note. She will go out of her way to help you out if needed, so all you need to do is ask.

She is amazing but I had to drop because my grade would either be a B or D in the last exam. - exams are 40% and require extra Trig knowledge. - It is extremely hard if you spend hours on HWs which are NOTHING like her exam questions & only get 10% of it. - Focus on acing the exam with her sample questions than the HW ones. I realized that too late

calc 2 is difficult, & requires good studying, not easy A class. exams weighed heavily & must show all work. best advice is to ask questions and attend office hours! she explains concepts good, especially one on one. allows notecard for exams. if u study and ask questions, u should be fine. prepares u good for calc 3. had online hw don't skip class

Great Professor. Her lessons are great because she has everything in a PowerPoint making it very easy to read. She goes over many problems, so you are well prepared for test. If you do her review sheets you will get B+ in the test they cover everything it will appear in it.

STUDY I was doing very well(87%) until the final so i didn't pass. She's very straightforward and teaches well enough, willing to help, grades heavy on tests and quick to grade. Gives you a cheat sheet for tests not for quizzes, 6 tests total and 4-5 quizzes.

Professor Williams is amazing! She really cares about students learning. The exams are manageable with her one-page cheat sheet policy. unstuck ai was a huge help for me too - definitely check it out alongside the textbook and office hours.

This professor explains the topic well. There is a textbook, but I never needed to touch it. Homework, you have three chances to get each question right. Open book exams, notes are allowed, as well as an approved calculator. She teaches it in a way that is to the point and no extra stuff. 100% would recommend. All learning, no stress.

She's one of the best math professors I've had during college to be honest. The textbook was online, so was the homework. Homework assignments were pretty consistent, 1 hw assignment per topic covered, and grading criteria was pretty straight forward. Exams were also really straight forward and there were never any curve balls on exams.

Took this course Summer 2025 (summer session 1). Very helpful regarding any questions about lectures or mistakes on tests, lectures were interactive slideshows with participation questions for credit and in detail explanations. Great professor who is passionate about her job.

I took this class freshman year and genuinely this professor was amazing. I have never considered myself great at math but I ended the course with a great grade. I would say it was due to her lectures and slides. She simplified the course in ways it was easy to comprehend. She allowed flash cards on tests & group work on class work which is great.

She teaches very well and always re-explains if we have any questions. Gives review packets before exams and is clear about what material will be asked. I would definitely take her again and recommend to others.

Her lectures aren't the greatest and left me wondering at the beginning of the semester but when other material is introduced it clarifies the old material. Later on the class gets harder but she puts it in a way that you can understand. I wish she would give more time for solving the question rather than just moving on quickly. 8/10would recommend
