There is a 3 week long group assignment that makes up 35% of your grade, broken into one part/weel. Each section of the assignment builds upon the other, however he takes almost a week to grade an assignment, making it difficult to build upon the prior week's work. He is an incredibly harsh grader. My GPA was 4.00 -I don't even know if I will pass.
The class itself wasnt difficult but the professor make it nearly impossible. Every paper I submitted he submitted for plagiarism stating my paper was to close to previous students that have taken the class. I felt lash back on my grades after appealing and barely passed this class. Group projects. Unhelpful. Took more than a week to grade.
Tough material & tough grading teacher just made this class frustrating plus majority of the assignments were group assignments. It was difficult depending on other students the entire course. Prof gave feedback but it was hard to read and not provided until Saturday when assignments were essentially completed so I was always redoing things.
The class wasn't bad but the professor was awful! His feed back on assignments was often late and unclear of what was expected. There are 3 group projects that make up a good portion of your grade and although he can see who is contributing and who isn't he gives every student the same grade.
This teacher does not respond to students. I ended up withdrawing , Stay away! Seriously.
This class is overall fun. Be aware there are several group assignments, but with this school all of the instructors in this field have group assignments so theres no getting around that. The group assignments are rough because someone can drop the ball, but the individual assignments arent too rough. Hes a tough grader, but fair.
Unsure what some students expect at this juncture of their academic career but my experience and expectations with Dr. Bannin are far different then these other reviews. He was always available and responded normally in a couple of hours and provided students phone # and time to call. Grading was done by the rubric and in-line with my expectations.
Discussions every week, 7 quizzes and 4 projects. I couldn't have enjoyed each project more than the next because I learned SO MUCH. Dr. Dale Bannon gave back great feedback to improve and I could not have been happier with the course. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR TO ANYONE TAKING ONLINE COURSES!!!
I was reluctant to take this professor because of previous ratings, but I was pleasantly surprised! Dr. Bannon was extremely responsive, the grading was consistent and fair, and the projects applied course principles really well. Overall, he was definitely one of the best business professors I have had at UMGC.
Professor Bannon was an excellent instructor! Emails were always answered within a reasonable timeframe and feedback on discussions and assignments were provided within the week. This instructor cares deeply for the well being of his students and send encouraging messages and follow ups to ensure everyone is successful. Best prof. I've had!
Professor Bannon is a tough grader for any of his classes. It is nearly impossible to receive a perfect score on the discussions. I have been attending this course for 7 weeks now and have not receive a perfect score on the discussions. The papers are graded as if you are taking a graduate course. Grading is focused on APA not the information.
Dr. Bannon gives good really good feedback and you can tell he cares in his weekly words of wisdom and that he always offers help. He is easily accessible for any concerns. Discussion participation matters and he is a bit more specific on how your discussions are graded. 4 papers that are not too bad, quiz every week open book of course.
I don't understand the negative reviews. Dr. Bannon was incredibly helpful and caring when I had him as a teacher. Every assignment comes with precise and detailed instructions. If you follow these you will do well! The class is not easy, however this is a college class and is supposed to be challenging. However the class was great with him.
Professor Bannon was very caring. The assignments were weekly quizzes, 4 discussions (4 responses for full credit), 4 projects (no groups), & no exam. He was a fair grader although it was hard to get a perfect score but he reached out to to give tips to achieve the highest grade possible.
Dr. Bannon is a great teacher. This is a college course, so expect college level requirements. If you follow the rubric and give put some effort in, you will learn a lot and do well in the class. After reading some student discussion posts, I believe many are illiterate or are too lazy to read the assignment requirements.
The professor fails to assess the knowledge of student's based on the content of the course and chooses to grade the student almost exclusively based on writing, grammar, and his preferred method of citing sources. He does not follow the rubric at all. You will not receive an A no matter what. My 3.8 gpa dropped tremendously.
Run PLEASE RUN even if this is the last class before graduation. This teacher is a very tough grader. Discussion grades will be graded like a paper for your masters. I wish I could rate the teacher a zero. Proceed at own risk!
Dr. Bannon is a great professor and one I would totally use again. He is very responsive and even gives you his phone number to call/text if you have any issues. He sets you up for success by setting his expectations, sending reminder emails, gives valuable feedback, and has a caring attitude. Do the work and you will be just fine!
Dr. Bannon makes you work hard for your grade. This is probably the first time I have ever felt challenged by a college class. You MUST WORK HARD for your grade. Lots of reading, FOLLOW the RUBRIC and you should be good to go. If you don't know something just ask him. he don't bite.
I was taking two other classes while taking this course. Dr. Bannon is by far the most understanding and knowledgeable teacher. He worked with me and allowed me to turn in an assignment that was late as well as kept me updated on anything else that I could have been doing better at or areas that I needed to focus more on within the course.
Good course. You'll pass with a good grade if you follow the rubric and pay attention to his e-mails with tips. You've gotta earn your grade, so be ready to not be lazy.
Dr. Bannon was a wonderful professor. He took extra time and effort to ensure students were aware of expectations. It is easy to feel isolated in an online course, but Dr. Bannon took time to reach out each week with tips and additional supplemental material. I felt that he was truly invested in the success of students.
Once you get past the cumbersome/modified APA7 citation requirements, the class is not too bad. Dr. Bannon does give you a citation guide to help. Expect four papers and weekly quizzes. The papers and discussions are long, so be prepared to work, but he is available for questions and is a fair grader. Dr. Bannon is a good choice as a professor.
Dr. Dale Bannon was great. Not only was all the course work perfect for learning, he even went above that by providing clarifying emails every Saturday with further readings (not mandatory), but tips on how the assignment for that week should look. At first I thought this was going to be a daunting class, but I was very satisfied with the design!
Dr. Bannon had a great lesson plan that worked well alongside the assignments. He also gave amazing feedback. Dr. Bannon was always available (email, phone, etc.), and got back to me within the same day.
Expectations are clearly laid out and in an easy to read format. The instruction allowed you to critically think about the subjects and relate to the topics at hand rather than copy and paste. Quizzes and tests were easy if you ready the material and the papers summed up exactly what you read. There were no surprises or outlandish course content.
I was nervous about taking this class based on the many negative reviews for all professors on this website, but I was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Bannon was a quick and fair grader, and he gave helpful feedback and clear expectations during the course. There is a fair amount of work, but I would strongly recommend taking this class with Dr. Bannon.
Professor Bannon is an amazing teacher who truly wants you to succeed in this course. He is always available no matter when you contact him and will take the time to explain any information that is not understood. Yes there is A lot of work, but the work is explained in detail and he is always there to help. Most informative business course.
He was a good professor, accessible when you needed him and quick to respond to any questions. There were a lot of papers and assignments but overall he was a good professor.
You will have to turn in discussions papers on Saturday's so be prepared to be in front of a computer.
Online classes usually feel like you are basically teaching yourself, but professor Bannon does a good job of providing helpful tips through e-mail to help with assignments.
I wish I could take every class with professor Bannon. He went out of his way to send an email to the class every week about what we need to know to be successful. I would have gotten an A in the class if I hadn't skipped turning something in. All he cares is this his students do good and he is understanding if something comes up in life.
He has a well-defined schedule, & the curriculum outlines our weekly activities and deadlines. The reading is standard as any other class, & although it may seem excessive, it is necessary for the detailed discussion. I appreciate that he gives you 2 chances to complete the quizzes. The work you put in pays off. He is strongly advised.
Very knowledgeable and responsive professor. Send emails regularly providing useful course information and project guidance. Additionally, he gave extra points for responding to those emails and gave flexible due dates. Excellent professor.
Professor Bannon is a good professor. He consistently reaches out to students in order to inform them about updates or added information to the class resources. His resources are up to date and are fitting for his assignments. His assignments take time and effort but he is a fair grader and provides effective feedback. TAKE HIM!!!
Dr. Bannon is available and wants to help and talk with students. It would have been incredible to take an in person course with him. You will need to work to get a good grade, but it is worth the effort because the feedback is aways spot on. Highly reccomend selecting Dr. Bannan. There is extra credit opportunities hidden in messages and emails.
The grading criteria was very clear and did not require me to ask or have too many questions. He was also available to chat with if you had an urgent question. I turned in a wrong assignment and was able to reach him quickly and he helped sort the problem out efficiently. I learned a lot in this class and would definitely recommend this class!
Professor Bannon grades fast and gives good feedback
I just took BMGT 364 with Dr.Bannon Yes, you will have to read, Yes, you will have papers four (4) to be exact, Yes, you will have quizzes seven (7) and Yes, you will have to respond to more than two (2) people; four (4) people for the maximum grade! Just read the course syllabus, rubrics, and participate in the work and you will be just fine!
Gives helpful hints each week for projects, very responsive and caring. Would absolutely take any class by Dr. Bannon
Professor Bannon is an excellent teacher. Read his instructions and rubrics they are clear and very good. If you have questions he is always willing and available to answer all of your questions. Just do all that is asked of you.
Professor Dale Bannon is a very good instructor. He was generous with me when my child was born extra early and was able to extend my paper no problem. He is pretty darn clear on how to get max points. When he wants four responses in multiple days, he means it! 2 posts are for a "C" grade. Highly recommend him!
This professor was great! If you follow the rules and do the work, you will have no issues! There was joy a lot of work in this class. If you do the work and put some effort into like any class, you will pass! The professor will give me a comment, but it helps!!!!
Dr. Bannon is a very fair grader. He gives exceptional feedback and is very interactive, even though I took his class online. As long as you do the coursework and make applicable changes according to the feedback, attaining an "A" is very manageable.
Professor Dale Bannon has been an amazing professor. He made sure everyone in the class was aware that he could be reached outside of class and even provided his personal cell phone number. I hope to have him again in the future at some point. If you see this Dr. Bannon, You made a difference and I really appreciate it.
Professor Bannon was beyond stellar! A great communicator. He reached out to me more than all previous professors combined. He sent out emails at least twice a week regarding class work and tips. His standards are high, right where they should be for a course of this level. His expectations were always very clear! Best Professor ever! Thank you
Great Professor -- He really looks out and goes that extra mile, he is willing to work with you as long as you communicate with him. He even gives you his personal number to ensure that he can be of as much help as possible. Definitely would take again.
Great professor who takes the time to engage with his students. I had an issue with turnitin and he was flexible I. Allowing me to make the necessary corrections. One of the best professors I have ever had.
Dr. Dale was a great professor. I would highly recommend him. Read your discussions and assignments first and complete all the readings you will be fine. Dr. Dale is very responsive, grades quickly, provides feedback, provides helpful weekly content summaries, and works with students. Great professor, take his classes :)
Dr. Bannon is an amazing professor! You will definitely have to put in effort in the discussions and projects. There four projects in this class. Make sure you read the case studies and don't skip any of the sections. Follow instructions and you won't have an issue. He is very accessible so if you have any questions, reach out to him.
Professor Bannon is simply awesome. Throughout the course, he clarified his expectations for all coursework. He always encouraged us through weekly emails, giving very useful pointers and hints for all four of the course projects, as well as general feedback about the class' performance. I especially appreciate that he grades work on time!
Professor Bannon has been one of my favorite professors to date. I would love to take another class from him. Expectations were clearly defined. Graded fairly. Communication was quick and helpful. He gave weekly tips to every assignment. Workload was very manageable.
Dr. Bannon was a great professor, I wish I took more classes with him but I'm graduating this semester. The class was BMGT 160, as long as you do the assignments he is a very fair grader.
Very responsive. Open to challenges on quiz/text responses provided you can present and support your position.
Excellent teacher. Was very clear to what he expected. Did not assign too many assignments. Would gladly take more classes with this professor.
I had Dr. Bannon for a nonprofit marketing course. He honestly made going back to college exciting, and I enjoyed his course. He was accessible, fair, and had great communication to help keep you on track, and helpful ways to get you back on track. Easily top 3 teachers I have had at UMGC.
Excellent Professor. Provided great feedback for each assignment turned it. If you have questions, he responds quickly and thoroughly. I highly recommend Professor Dale.
I took Prof. Bannon's Nonprofit Marketing course. He is a great professor who provides constructive feedback and encouragement. The course material he provided was necessary and will serve as a helpful tool in my continued education. I learned a lot through his lecture readings on marketing for nonprofit organizations. Thank you Prof. Bannon!
He was great in class. He kept us all engaged despite being in asynchronous online format. He was able to grab and hold attention and was always available for questions.
Very helpful, knowledgeable, fair grader.
Dr. Bannon is an amazing instructor. Although the discussion boards and assignments were challenging, Dr. Bannon was very clear on expectations. If you received a bad/failing grade with Dr. Bannon, it was because you did not pay attention or actually care about quality work. I would take any class he taught.
Great Professor!!! Always willing to help, and genuinely cares for his students success. 10/10
Great professor! He is clear on what the expectations are and very responsive as well. Also, grades the assignments/discussions fairly quickly.
Relaxed type guy.
Super understanding and really wants you to do well. Spells everything out for you for ALL assignments. In order to not make a good grade you literally have to not turn your stuff in. Even than he let's you turn it in late with points taken off. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
Wonderful Professor.
Dr. Bannon was a very transparent professor in terms of his criteria for grading, formatting and submissions. He routinely provided amplifying information about any misconceptions with directions and was always available to discuss grades, or confusion with assignments. I would be happy to have him as a professor in the future
Dr Bannon was very flexible with unforeseen circumstances. His only requirement is COMMUNICATION. I had an incident that impacted my ability to meet the an assignment deadline. I immediately notified him and he worked with me for as long as I kept him updated. In the end, this incident did not affect my final grade and I am very appreciative.
This professor clearly outlines expectations and provides helpful feedback on assignments to prepare for the next one. He responds quickly to questions or concerns. He is professional and understanding if extra time is needed for an assignment. I would definitely take another course with him.
Amazing professor! You will love the course.
Dr. Bannon was very professional and understanding regarding unplanned personal opportunities. Keeping in communication with him, he worked with me to ensure I was still successful in his course. He is active in the discussions and gives clear expectations of how to receive high marks. He is quick to communicate when reached out to as well.
Professor Dale Bannon's online non-profit marketing class was a great experience. He effectively conveys material using real-world examples, which enhances understanding in this virtual setting. I came away with practical knowledge that I can apply in my future endeavors. Overall, I highly recommend his courses to anyone interested in the field.
Very fair grader, communicative, responds relatively quickly to emails, and was willing to work with me and extend a due date due to personal circumstances. I learned a lot throughout this class and would take another class with Professor Bannon given the opportunity to! Highly recommend!
Professor Dale Bannon is a stern but fair instructor. Following the assignment instructions exactly as presented is critical. If any questions arise, contact him promptly; he responds quickly and provides direct answers, unlike some professors who respond by answering your question by asking you a question. I highly recommend Dr. Bannon's classes.
Dr. Bannon is fair in his critiques & gives good feedback. He was accessible for questions & arrangements. There is a quiz weekly in the 314 class & you need to be prepared to find the answer the class material because despite the quizzes usually saying "Chapter ..." I found that the question could refer to any class material. That was frustrating.
Dr. Bannon is one of the best professors I've had! He's incredibly easy to work with and truly cares about his students' success. We had a great email conversation about my plans for a master's degree, and his words were unforgettable. His deep involvement in the nonprofit sector makes him even more respected in my eyes. I highly recommend him!
Professor Bannon was a fair and very helpful professor. The addition of the online lectures paired nicely with the text and the discussions added to the retention of the content. I knew what to do in order to earn a higher grade on the next assignment.
Professor Dale Bannon is an outstanding instructor who makes learning clear and engaging. They always make sure students feel supported. The class is well-organized, and they provide helpful feedback that really helps with improving your work. Professor Bannon is approachable and genuinely cares about student success.
The weekly readings and assignments or discussion were an average amount of workload. Most assignments/discussions can be completed by just using the weekly readings. Anytime I had questions about requirements, how to complete an assignment, or requesting an extension due to being sick, Professor Bannon was responsive, helpful, and understanding.
Professor Dale is easy to work with, he will work with you, as long has you explain what's happening. Plus he'll let you know what you did wrong on a test if you ask.
Prof. Bannon: offers a good weekly balance of class content to avoid overwhelming students, fair and constructive feedback according to the rubrics, helped me become a better critical thinker, & a woke facilitator who supports diverse discussions and subject matters.
He will be honest and answer any questions you have for him so if you want to do well just communicate with this professor daily to keep up to date on course assignments.
I recently had the pleasure of taking this course, and I can confidently say it was one of the most rewarding educational experiences I've had. Their dedication to student success is evident as they genuinely care about our progress and learning and gave great feedback to assignments and discussion posts.
Professor Bannon was great! His class is very easy to pass bc everything is clearly laid out. He sends weekly reminders, check-ins, and writing tips. There are 4 easy papers, 4 discussions, and weekly quizzes. He grades quickly and provides great feedback. Do the work, follow directions, you'll get a good grade. Easiest A ever! Highly recommend!
Professor Bannon goes above and beyond to ensure you are fully prepared and understand how to tackle any task way more than any professor I've had in the past.
Dr. Bannon was an exceptional professor for MRKT314. Take him as a professor if you are needing this class, he is the most responsive and qualified professor I have had at UMGC. Participation matters for sure, but he is very understanding, fair and clear.
Dr. Bannon was easily the best professor I had at UMGC, I enjoyed the nonprofit marketing lessons and he is well qualified for this role. Awesome guy, very easy to reach! I agree with all the other positive ratings.
I took Fundamentals of Nonprofit Management with Professor Bannon and he was great. Very accessible when needed, clear instructions for all assignments, and a manageable course. I'd definitely take one of his classes again and highly recommend his course on Nonprofit Organizations.
Professor was quick to respond and accommodate if you asked on a timely matter. I unfortunately didn't ask for an extension on time, so I wasn't granted, nonetheless I know that had I done it with time, it would have been considered.
Dudes really good, actually gives 100% if he feels you earned it. Really easy going, but not so lax that he does not give quality instruction or wouldnt provide feedback. Hes just a good teacher.
One of the most active professors I've had in an online course. Every week he sends tips for the upcoming assignment s and is always reaching out to the class. He gives extended time when asked in a timely manner and seems to actually care about you. Definitely a great professor with real experience in the field of non-profit organizations.
Exceptional instructor who makes np mrkt both accessible & engaging while providing student support like weekly tips, additional context. He sets clear expectations, grades quickly & remains available for questions, responding in a few hours. Brilliant, caring, committed to student's doing their best, creating an space where you can thrive. A+ Prof
Very great teacher! He makes sure you are up to date with each weeks assignment by sending out emails with advice etc
Great Professor. If you follow instructions and get assignments in on time, you will have no issues.
Professor Bannon gives clear instructions and offers additional tips to meet his expectations on writing assignments. He is accommodating if you communicate properly.
The coursework wasn't "easy" [for me]. I graded Dr. Bannon as "easy" because he was easy to work with. He was readily available the gazillion times that I reached out to him and at no point did he make me feel burdensome. He was very knowledgeable on this subject. I knew exactly what was expected of me, which made it easier to get a good grade..
