Best math teacher i've had here at state, and i have had dang near all of em. He takes the time to explain things, and yes he even speaks english. He brings humor into the class, and really seems to enjoy teaching.

Dale is a really nice guy. The only bad thing about him is the tests; they are extremely hard. Great sense of humor, but be ready to study your butt off because it's going to be a long semester.

He is very helpful, and answers your questions, he explains things very well. The quetions on the tests are easy to understand and easy enough to do if you know the material.

Dale is a great teacher. Even if you tell him that you hate math, he still tries to make the class easy to understand. He is also very funny. Word of warning: study for the tests.

Great prof, very understanding,and knows how to make math as fun as possible. Able and willing to answer any questions. tests are hard, but if you show up to class, they are not impossible. A more "fun" math class.

I felt he had a great and energetic approach to teaching. He is very reasonable, and is not out to get you. He'll admit his faults and change the grades accordingly, he once said "I don't know what I was thinking, or smoking at the time..."

You can tell Buske loves math. He's a good guy. The only problems I had in the class were the tests, working on the group projects and his lectures tended to be a bit boring. He tries to be funny but sometimes just isn't.

All of the quizzes are online which is nice but the tests are kinda hard. You get a packet with all of his slides so that is very helpful. He really loves math, it's obvious.

I looked forward to this class. I found him amusing and I was able to grasp the concepts. If I ever had a question, I was not afraid to ask. Overall, a cool guy.

I'm TERRIBLE at math and I got a "C". I took him during the summer session so things went very fast paced but I survived. The online quizes are great but the tests are hard so you must study. The curve is great too. Would recommend.

Tough class, but you gotta take it so take it from him, because he grades on more than just tests, which will really help your grade

Dr. Buske is a great professor! I am a non-traditional student who had no algebra in high school. I don't think I could have passed this class without Dr. Buske. He really cares about his students and always takes time to answer everyone's questions. Don't take this course with anyone else!!

He's a good guy that does what he can, and can cut you some slack when you need it. The online tests and quizzes aren't hard. The homework isn't bad either. Exams are a little tough but if you study it'll be fine. The final was actually the easiest exam. He grades on an awesome curve.

I took this class a couple years ago. I remember going to special outside-class pre-exam study sessions. I am decent at math, but it isn't my strongest subject. He:s very funny and his homeworks are very easy. His exams are almost exactly the same as his homeworks. So, as long as you study, it's very easy to get good grades.. Oh the projects are very nice too!

Best Math 196 teacher at SCSU

At first I didn't like him at all. I thought the semester was going to be hell. But all you have to do is figure out his patterns. eg. the tests are based almost exactly on the homework. I definitely used the tutors. Go to his office hours... sometimes the tutors didn't even know how to do the probs. He's nerdy. He also makes dirty jokes sometimes

math 193 is not a fun course, but if you have to take it, take it from Buske. he is awesome. he grades tough, but is really into math and so class isn't all that boring and you learn a lot.

hard but very smart and knows his stuff. He is a great teacher and is willing to help you if you go to his office hours. this class is not easy with any teacher so i would recommend him over all the other teachers.

Really liked this prof. He loves math so much it is weird, and has an odd sense of humor -- it makes for an interesting class. He is very friendly and more than willing to answer everyone's questions. I think he does a very good job explaining everything you need to know for his tests. Do the homework assigned (or most of it at least).

This professor's class is the best thing since sliced bread. He really makes you learn the stuff. The tests aren't easy, but if you go to class and do the homework, you can pass. Not an easy grader tho.

Dr. Buske is helpful and always willing to help his students understand. He answered an e-mail for me once at 11 at night! He is also really funny and self proclaimed math geek. But DON'T take this class online!

He is very helpfull online and with a quick response. his test are tricky in wording. you ned to known your formulas backwards and forwards.

Took online. This math teacher um, don't ever recommend him! He definitely isn't very helpful, very cocky. He is high on himself and others who are very good at math. Those of you who aren't good at math he will be difficult on you! Take someone else for sure!

Dr Buske is one of the best professors I have ever had. Very understanding and helpful. Will allow some leeway, but will not make you unaccountable for the assignments, which is a mark of a good teacher. Realistic about need to do homework to do well in class. Worksheets very helpful in class. Reccomended very highly for hands-on learners.

The absolute best math teacher I have had. The class of course was ridiculously hard but that comes with the package. He was very very willing to help his students and was very positive. Definitly take him as your math teacher, very helpful!

I took this class online. It was so hard I could have died. The up side is that he is so willing to help, and I would post a question and he would respond back almost instantly!! He is very organized! If you are pretty decent at math, I would highly recommend him. If not, DO NOT take this class online.

He is very willing to help if you need it. There are three tests and then the final. I would recommend studying for them because they are tough. He grades the class on a nice curve at the end.

Dr Buske is awesome! His online format is so clear and easy to use. Watch the videos, very helpful. He is more than willing to help out at all times. If you understand math at all this is an easy online class.

Extremely helpful and one of the best math teachers i ever had. He is a down to earth person and an easy grader. He explain the material very well and gives homeworks which are not mandatory but helps for exams. An excellent teacher with a good sense of humor. I would recommend him.

Mr. Buske is willing to help at all times. He responds to emails very fast. He has homework assignments every night but only about 10 - 15 book problems. Attendance is not mandatory. He is by far the BEST math teacher I have every had! His teaching style is very clear and his tests are exactly like the study guide he hands out!

A quirky guy for sure. I made a critical error at the end of the semester. He was beyond helpful in fixing my problem and sorted the issue out ASAP over Christmas. I did hear that other sections were easier, but I would still recommend Buske.

Buske.... Talk about a great professor. HE is caring, interested in making sure one succeeds in his class. He hasn't really required the class to use a textbook, but he does have stuff to do online which helps one out a lot. He gave weekly quizzes that were literally taken oyut of the book

Excellent professor. He is very enthusiastic about the material he is teaching which keeps students interested. You will have to go up in front of the class to do problems but will help you along the way. The textbook is a must, you will have a couple hours of homework each day from the book. Exams are a little tricky,but an overall fair grader.

Dr. Buske is awesome, one of my favorite profs. He cares about his students, and while he didn't have consistent office hours he had an open door policy, so if you stopped by his office at any time he can provide you with the help you need. He makes the classroom interactive, so if you take him, expect to do some problems in front of the class.

AWESOME teacher!! He is approachable and really cares about his students!! He is always in his office and will spend as much time as you need to figure stuff out! He was a reasonable grader. Ask him questions and he will help, also he pays attention to whether the class is following in lecture, which helps. I really hope I can take him again!!

He's fun, down to earth and realistic about everything in the way he teaches. However, between the notes, homework, quizzes and tests, there's a bit of a disconnection between all them. If you're not math saavy, all of it feels completely different from each other. Especially when it comes to the test. Making it hard to grasp the concepts and learn

I usually HATE math. Prof Buske has amazing online YouTube videos that he uses for his lectures. It really helps understand the homework. It's a lot of work for an online class but just make sure you do the homework every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Falling behind makes it harder. If I had to take another math class, I would definitely choose him

Despite the fact that Buske is a nice and funny guy, no amount of homework, quizzes and studying can ever properly prepare you for his tests. Tests are ridiculous in terms of difficulty. Which makes the class that much more frustrating when you're able to understand everything, but still get thrown off by the questions he writes.

Dale Buske is hilarious. Corny but funny. Really cares about his students and will stay outside his office hours to help you. Worksheets really helpful and relate DIRECTLY to test questions. Too many quizzes and outside work, but if you want to do well, you put in the time. Would highly recommend.

Professor Buske is one of the best math teachers at SCSU. He has a great sense of humor and is very passionate about helping students understand mathematics. He is very conceptual. So he likes lots of graphs. I found this to be very helpful doing Calculus this way, rather than doing lots of algebra.

I had Buske for Calculus 1 ( Math 221) and I loved it. He made class fun and didn't bother with proofs since the whole class was engineering students. He explains thing very well and grades really fair, especially if you make a stupid mistake, but understand and show you know the concept. He does make you write more than most math classes though.

Brutal exams. You'll think you understand the homework, but then on the exam get run over by a train. The textbook he used was junk and didn't cover all the material. But overall he's a good professor, funny, explains things well, and will help you outside of class. He cares about your success. I recommend him; just be ready for a LOT of work!

Like in any typical math class, there will be a lot of homework. Dr. Buske used a great (free) online textbook for this class that was actually helpful. As far as online classes go, Dr. Buske's was my favorite. He is caring about his students and responds to emails fast. Quite a bit of writing and homework and tough exams, but manageable.

*BEST SCSU MATH TEACHER* DO NOT FALL BEHIND AND DO ALL OF THE HOMEWORK. this class requires you to do a lot of self teaching. he is a very hard grader but gives a lot of partial credit. explains stuff well and answers emails fast. has a good sense of humor and seems to genuinely care about your success. 100% would take again

He cares for his students. You just need to show up to office hours if your 100% confused other than that you can just ask the other students. His class is not hard. That is if you can keep up with the daily preps & online homework.

I love this professor, his lectures were fun and he is a fair grader. The only thing that tripped my up in his class were the tests. They were ridiculous. If you take this class and you don't understand a concept 100%, you HAVE to put in the work to understand it or you are screwed.

Not a math major, but the best math prof ive had through two schools. grades hard and is blunt when you do something wrong, but you will learn a lot from it. I dont enjoy calculus but he made it as enjoyable as it could be. he particularly enjoyed the bernie on a chair meme and shared some of his creations one lecture

Dale is great and actually cares. His classes can feel heavy on homework; you will have to complete multiple short paper assignments and online assignments per week. However, the assignments are not long; and through simply doing these exercises, there is no way you do not pass (even excel). Dale is also very helpful, funny, understanding, etc.

He's great and funny. You can tell he really tries to do his best for his students. He also asks for feedback and surveys. Group work everyday. His homework is much harder than his tests, which is helpful. This class was a breeze for me.

Amazing professor! He really cares about his students. There are a lot of exams and papers, but they will serve as good review material. He's always open to feedback and is willing to help students with their work. He uses a free textbook, which is a plus. All of the lectures, slideshows, and activities are uploaded online as well.

Best. Professor. Ever. Took an introductory coding course and he wrote the textbook, which was incredibly helpful. Content was not easy, but not impossible. He is incredible at helping and wanting to make sure students are understanding the content. He loves what he does, and cares for his students. If you get the chance, PLEASE take him!!

He is very understanding; he enjoys what he is teaching and wants others to understand and try to enjoy it as well. He is very good at reminding what is due during the week.

Dr. Buske is definitely the best Math Teacher I've ever had. I have had him for this class (Calc 3) and for Calc 2 and I learned the best from him. Also, after hearing how some other teachers are in the department, I would wait so you can take these classes with Buske.

Dr. Buske is a great teacher, and your grade in his classes will primarily depend on your homework - meaning tests aren't the end all be all. This takes takes a lot of stress out of class, but you'll still really learn the content.

Great professor! You do MyOpenMath for homework, which you have infinite attempts on, and daily prep which is very relevant to what he goes over in class. Gets the ideas across super well, and he connects them in a super logical way. Just keep with it, be neat, and don't become lazy "like a state worker".

Best math teacher/professor I've ever had. He works through problems clearly and consistently and explains topics SO simply, especially for a difficult concept like calculus. Lots of homework, but it's all to cement your understanding and nothing is busywork or a waste of time. Very generous grader on exams and prepares you for them quite well.

The classes are so good, there is no mandatory attendance, but you won't wanna leave the class cause its so good and fun.

I would have failed calculus if I took it with any other professor. He will meet you halfway if your personal life is making school harder for you. He understands that it is NOT an easy subject and grades half the homework based on effort and not correctness. Difficult exams, but he's always willing to help and explains difficult topics well.
