This guy is the worst!!He teaches a business ethics course and is totally unethical. He spews his fascist political views and hate-mongering throughout the class; he encourages students to listen to npr and plays it when you walk into class. He insults his students, he bashes business and profits. Completely unethical. STAY AWAY!
WEIRD..kinda funny kinda not. the test is what it is not too hard, reading is def. required He wants his students to pass, didnt go to class often but passed, i would take em again def.!
this guy is a total marxist. he is extremely tangentially challenged, at times incapable of staying on topic. he is anti-capitalism and would love nothing more for the USA to become the USSA. he is suppose to teach business ethics, but it's nothing more than marxist rhetoric. don't bother with this "professor".
Overall, very poor experience. He is an egocentric, with very negative views.Even as a liberal, he really crosses the lines and overestimates the importance of his opinions. He hates Texas, business people, and anyone who does not think like him. However, he thinks he is polite, nice and open minded. He is a JOKE and BULLY!
Professor Clark teaches Business Ethics with an emphasizes on Philosophy and class discussion. Course is reading intensive and consists of a Midterm, 10 commentaries, & a Final. Overall the readings and issues raised are pretty interesting. He does tend to go off topic sometimes but it keeps class fun. Hates Rainy Days & Texas Drivers...
His class is not very hard at all and you learn a lot. He wants class participation though and he's a little intimidating
Found this class pretty interesting. Did not like it at first because he constantly called on people and was kind of rude sometimes. He stopped doing that and then I enjoyed the class more. Just print out his outlines before class and read the readings and add in some notes. Should be an easy A. He also provides review for midterm and final.
excellent teacher, he takes real life situations to explain how to apply or to study corporate ethics. reading is a must for this class or for any class... just print out the outlines that are online and fill them up with what he says and you'll be golden otherwise....
Did a good job of relating the day's topic to real-world events, but had a tendency to ramble and sometimes get off-track exploring the ramifications of a topic. Entertaining for me, but I understand his teaching style demands you not take anything personally. He doesn't have a problem with anything you say, as long as you can back it up.
Kinda a quirky guy. Rambles about stuff sometimes. Does a review before test and gives out tons of extra credit. Class is pretty interesting. Would recommend.
Real good prof, class seems hard at first, but after the first test you will realize its very easy. Make sure you show up to review day and get all the information. Gives out 2% (to total grade) extra credit which is a 2 pg double space paper per class after the first test. If that doesn't make it easy then I don't what your looking for.
A midterm, final, and 10 short case commentaries. He gives reviews for two multiple choice tests. I recommend studying the lectures, too. He gives a lot of extra credit for those that don't ever show up and do poorly on the tests. Nice guy. Slow at keeping grade sheet up to date.
if he was teaching philosophy, he will probably be a great professor. but he is a terrible BUSINESS ethics professor. some days i was wondering if i was taking the wrong class. because all the time he was talking about philosophers and their concepts. for mgt a major its all gibberish. if you are not interested in philosophy DON'T TAKE HIM.
Dale Clark is arrogant and rude. He bullies his students and is not afraid to call someone out for quietly walking out to take an important phone call. He feels his opinions are vital and that hes a great prof, both are false. He rambles about insignificant things and even admits that he "preaches". His personality makes his class unbearable.
He pushes his views on others. He is a jerk to his students. Terrible personality. He basically preaches his views. He finds himself very important and lets you know it. don't take him. obsessed with Macbooks and rants about them, criticizing you if you don't have one. his arrogance is unbearable
Philosophy professor teaching a business course. Keep up with the reading. The concepts seem weird at first, but will eventually dovetail together. Tests and commentaries are very easy, as long as you pay attention. Prof. Clark is not a Marxist.
Dr. Clark is great. He is not going to make it easy, he expects for his classes to do the readings so that he can hold discussions in class. If people don't participate he holds pop quizzes, so read. He details what he expects and is not responsible for the people that don't show up except for exams. They seem to be the ones complaining.
Tends to go off topic a bit, but if you attend the lectures, the two exams aren't that bad. He teaches with a style that if you attend class and read, you'll do well on exams. If you don't - good luck! The 10 current events exercises are kind of annoying, but they're not hard to do. Only professor that teaches this class for non-accounting majors.
I would not take this prof again. He is very arrogant and stands on his soap box all day long. He will embarass you in front of the class for asking "dumb" questions.
I loved this teacher. Very funny guy, but not a typical sense of humor. Can be offensive but I don't think he means it offensively. GO TO CLASS AND READ!!! Otherwise you will not pass. If something is not clear, ask him after class--very helpful and friendly 1 on 1. Not the class to take if you just want a no-effort A.
Very nice person. He is very helpfull and willing to explain until you understand. I would definately recommend him.
He is a cool professor with a lot to say about a lot to things. Attendence is not mandatory but if class particpation is low he will give pop quizzes. Dont procastinate on your commentaries because you will run out of time. I worked hard in this class and recieved an A
Awful, awful. Not the hardest class ever, but as a teacher, he is horrible. Extremely rude and arrogant to the point where I couldn't stand to listen to him. Wouldn't suggest taking him.
So rude. Some professors can be funny when they "call people out" in class. He isn't even funny, just completely ANNOYING. His class wasn't that hard but I absolutely couldn't stand him.
Does not take attendance, no quizzes if the class participates. This is a reading course, if you do not like to read and comprehend you are screwed. You do get extra credit opportunities. Yes hes an ass, but you have to take him.
I liked this teacher and this course. Some previous comments state he is arrogant and rude.I didn't get that.He would call you out if you were doing something wrong. If you don't like it, come to class on time, and don't text or surf internet during class. This course is refreshing in that you get to think, not be told what to think.
I really don't get why ppl say he's rude, i found him really respectful. Just don't come in late and don't use ur phone, and you'll be fine. You don't need to read every article, just make sure you go t class and take good notes and then go over the outline. He give's a review sheet, & it's the way to make an A. Took him Summer 1, & made an easy A
Great professor, cool class. Take good notes & go to class--some test questions come from lectures. Recommend getting in a study group to review notes. Ask questions during reviews! Review tests with him to go over wrong answers. You might get a couple corrected if you can justify your answer.
He is the best teacher I've had all year. He is only rude to people who deserve it i.e. people using their phone during class. You need to do 10 case commentaries & if the class does not participate he will give a quiz. Just read everything he tells you to & the outlines are very thorough. One midterm & final.
He likes people who speak up. Take notes with the outlines he provides. His test question are pretty straight from the outlines but will help more if you take notes. Attend class. Hes a good teacher :) NOT A MARXIST ;)
Class based off philosophical theories; the teacher is a philosopher thus knows his stuff. He's a funny, very helpful and likes to make assides and tangents that may or may not relate. Take notes and show up and you'll have fun and do great.
Attendance is mandatory because exams are based on his lecture outlines that you need to fill in using the stuff he talks about in class. I found it hard to determine whether something he was saying was pertinent to the course or him rambling. Exam review is a list of words that you need to be able to define and understand. Multiple choice exams
Very fair professor. Attendance and participation are not only mandatory, but fun. Get a study group to compare notes, do your commentaries, and participate in the class discussion and you will do well. This professor is very helpful outside of class as well.
This class is so far the best I have taken in the college of Business. It focuses on the things that we're sometimes reluctant to shine light on in the business world. I definitely recommend you take this class with him; I can't picture it being taught by anyone else! You won?t regret it. Attend class, your grade will reflect it. (study groups=A)
Prof Clark is very rude. I w ould not advise taking him.
Prof Clark has a sense of humor that can offend, don't take it personally.Very good about tying philosophy and business together. Read assignments before class, be prepared for discussions, and attend study groups. Take care of commentaries early, turn in extra credit and you will be fine. Very good about helping after class and during office hours.
Anyone who thinks professor Clark is insensitive and rude really can't take a joke, and probably needs to develop a thicker skin...Extremely possible to make an A in this class as long at you attend lectures. Very knowledgeable professor. Makes business ethics interesting.
He is a good teacher with a lot sense of humor, i like the class, turn in comments, tests are what he says on the lecture so try not miss any lecture, he hands a study topics and reviews in class
Great teacher, humorous, can go off a tangent but he teaches really well. You do have 10 case commentaries and 3 multiple choice tests. Everything comes from his lectures but reading is necessary to understand his lectures. Not too hard he does have a review session before every test, which helps clarify things. Remember to know the authors names!
Laid back professor. Complete the readings, which are short, prior to class. He definitely knows what he's talking about. I'll confess, I never went to class. Still pulled off a B. 3 exams, 10 commentaries.
In so far as my autonomy is not being undermined, I would rate Clark a B+ :) While attendance was not mandatory, it helped to understand the lectures. 10 case commentaries, 3 multiple-choice tests, and discussion over the readings during lecture. Easy class, easy-going professor. Despite what people think, he's not as rude as you would imagine.
I could not stand listening to professor clark or attending his lectures. He paces back and forth at the front of the classroom and rambles extremely fast for the entire class. It was very difficult to keep up with what he was saying and to keep my attention on him for the entire class. The readings are also extremely boring and you have tons.
People complain that he talks too fast, but he types up the lectures for you. You add your own notes. Do the study guides and commentaries and you can pull at least a B. His sense of humor isn't for everyone. I went to every class because he's interesting and I learned a lot. Offers A LOT of extra credit.
Nice guy, does his best to help, gives extra credit. Make an attempt to read for his class, I promise itll show in your grades. Commentaries (10) are worth a quarter of your grade. It'll be your bread and butter if you don't know the difference between right and wrong. Very witty and his humor is fast paced. Good students will enjoy his class.
It's refreshing to have a professor who not only knows the material so well, but who also understands how to deliver it in a manner that is engaging to the students and has an understanding quality when those students have questions about the material. Recommend taking him downtown- less distractions from students with laptops/cell phones.
Clark is awesome, his lectures aren't tedious and he's quick witted and sharp-tongued, making class much more bearable. Definitely show up for exam reviews, they're very helpful. The class was really easy, with many opportunities for extra credit. Do the tedious commentaries, they're boring, but easy and worth a good chunk of your grade.
Professor Clark is truly a great professor. It's one of those classes that you actually look forward to going to. I think this class should be mandatory for every major. I learned a lot from someone who I am glad to have learned from. You can tell he loves his job!
Clark is an OK professor, but by no means is he a good person. He is very rude to students and very scattered. Yet, he is an expert on the field and his lectures are interesting. He acts like a child when talking about computers. As long as you do your commentaries and ignore his rude and obnoxious comments you should be OK He can be funny at times
Very interesting professor, to say the least! He is a philosopher, so he is very much into all different theories. You'll learn more theories, then he will apply it to business. Make sure to rent/buy the Blue book. It's cheaper and it has all you need. He expects you to write 10 commentaries in the semester, 3 tests, no group work.
Great professor and very knowledgable. Makes learning fun. Make sure to read though, that will help a lot! I definitely recommend taking this guy.
interesting guy. is pretty funny sometimes and does pick on you for coming in late to class. posts lecture notes online for reference. gives extra credit for over 20 points on case commentaries
Great class. Go to class and you'll make an A.
Dr. Clark is rude and egotistical. He pouts and threatens quizzes if you do not participate, if he even shows up in the first place. If you go to class you will do well, but be prepared to spend a lot of time working outside of class teaching yourself. He used bizarre examples and a book that doesn't teach the theories you are expected know.
Dr. Clark is by far my favorite professor at UTSA. You have to go to class and it takes a few classes to get used to his eccentric style of teaching but once you do, it is worth it. He is incredibly intelligent and genuinely cares about his students learning and outcomes. He does joke around a lot and can get distracted but he's very fair.
Mr. Clark is a nice person, very intelligent...but very confusing. It is very hard to pay attention in class, he does not present his notes in any order what so ever. You must sit there and stare at him the entire time, no power points. Tests are confusing! Going to class helps, if you challenge him about a question, he will give extra points.
Horrible teacher he is a philosophy major but he taught business ethics this semester his instructions are unclear, he makes you feel dumb if you ask him a question, and he rambles in his lectures I DON'T recommend his class!!
Very enthusiastic about what he teaches. Interesting. Gets very upset if not enough people in class participate in the discussions, so do the readings to stay current with the topic. Only 4 grades total so don't miss an exam or forget to do commentaries! And NEVER cheat in that class. He will unleash a war on you.
The way he ran his lectures sucked. He was never very clear, always got off topic and would be upset when no one wanted to participate.
Was an interesting class but was overshadowed by teaching inability. Has not found a way to tie philosophy to business in a clear and brief way. Rambles nonstop and there seems to be no queues for when he transitions into teaching mode. Rarely gets to the point. His analogies can be dark, opinionated, and taboo. Lectures are just frustrating.
Cool prof to take. I learned more sophisticated words to impress people with by attending the class. Easy material. Go to the class, pay attention, and you should be fine. commentaries are tedious, u can do up to 20, but only need to do 10 decent ones. Having an exam the night before thanksgiving was the worst part of the class.
Lectures were very frustrating at first as he ever got to the point, but towards the end of the semester it got much better. Tests were fairly easy as long as you kept along with the required readings. Required 10 commentaries that were straight to the point. I found the class to be interesting.
In my opinion class was pretty easy. Originally was not looking forward to the class but it ended up being my favorite. Prof Clark is eccentric and either you will like him or strongly dislike him. Book is not required but helpful. Many try to just pass without doing the commentaries but if you just put min effort it will make your grade. Got an A+
Pretty easy class. Has some extra credit opportunities. However, he can be very boring and goes off topic at times.
The information is definitely philosophy based which is fine but he strays off topic all the time and although he gives you a review its very difficult to gather the information you're supposed to know when he didnt actually cover all of it. Go to every class and read, try to keep him on track.
OMG don;t take this teacher he talks way to fast for you to understand or even take note...I mean i is easy and stuff but you dont get good test results.everything else is easy just not him as a teacher
What a wreck. The only people who like this guy are the people who have something to say about everything. His lectures are almost impossible to follow because he cant keep a single thought process on track. Commentaries are hit or miss, you can write two identical commentaries and get two different grades. Spare yourself, dont take him.
Clark is very confusing, strays off topic regularly, is extremely egotistical, and loves to hear the sound of his own nasally voice.
This professor rambles way too much and it's impossible to stay on track throughout the class... He tries way too hard to add humor in the lectures and it comes off as arrogance. Topics could be interesting, class could be a really good one if he had a different teaching approach. His reviews were not that helpful at all. I wish there were more professors to choose from for this class. You have 20 commentaries due by the end of the semester, these could get very boring as well.
Clark knows how to work your mind. His class is pretty hard to get an A in considering his test but it is very hard to fail because of the extra credit he offers with the commentaries. Do all the commentaries and you should be okay. His lectures can prove to be helpful for the exams. Also, form study groups...they help too.
Dr. Clark is very egotistical. He says he loves his job but also says he does not care about his students. Lectures are terribly confusing as he speaks very fast and often shifts his focus. His exam reviews are pointless. Exams are difficult and rely off knowledge that he barely can teach. The only good thing were the commentaries... Don't take him
If you are a mature, disciplined student who comes to class consistently and actually reads the assignments, you will not only understand the lectures, but be able to participate in them. The key to this class is actually doing the readings and the commentaries. If you don't do the readings and just expect the lectures to teach you, you will fail.
I have got to say that I was very disappointed in this professor. He rambled most of the class, his notes are pretty much useless, and he manually grades each of his tests. Also, we received our grades after they were due because he was behind but still blamed it on us. I would NOT recommend him
Honestly, I got an -A and I would NOT recommend him! But if you do take him, do as many commentaries as possible! Read the book but the exams are difficult & his lectures don't help. Requires a lot of common sense & self morality. He's get off subject A LOT!
Honestly, I got an -A and I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. But if you do take him I advice you do as many commentaries as possible! Book is used 4 discussions, but his exams are difficult. His lectures are irrelevant & he goes off topic A LOT!!!
Not that great of a professor. Never went to class, but managed to pull off a solid "B". Do every single one of the commentaries, and you should be fine. I got two low D's on the first two exams, and pulled off a high grade on the final. Absolutely impossible to follow, he just rambles so you never have any idea whats going on. Do commentaries.
Man this guy is confusing! He rambles like no one I've ever heard. To get an A: DO ALLLLLLL COMENTARIES! (10 mandatory, all others are pure extra credit) Go to class and try to fill out his outlines. Meet w/ classmates before tests to fill out gaps. And do the commentaries...seriously. One more, and I would've had an "A" :(
Please do not take this guy. He rambles alot of stuff and he is not clear. He also has an ego. I plead with you not to take him unless you are super uber smart which he'll still make you feel dumb
He really isn't that bad. Go to class, try and fill in his notes. If you feel like you chose a correct answer on the test, you can argue and explain to him why. He might give you the points! Do ALL commentaries!!
Seems to be your typical prof in regards to political view. BUT,have to admit he didn't let it interfere. I would recommend him. Yes,his class is quite different but don't be scared of different guys. Read, complete all assignments,& go to class. Seemed like it wasn't clear on what to study but got good grades bc the info is somewhere in that brain
Do all the commentaries and read the outlines before the test and you will be fine. Most of the questions are common sense and if you get one wrong you can argue with him to get the correct answer. He may even argue it for you. The commentaries are easy and don't take more then 15 minutes for each one. This class is super easy to pass.
Absolutely the BEST class I have ever had. He has his views and that is fine. Personally, I agree with most of them. I would recommend his classes to EVERYONE!!! Should be required...
I will break it down 4u guys. Case commentary 20% of grade, 5 out of 6 cases= 4 points of ur final grades a piece. Interactive lessons 20% also, 20 out of 20 = 1point a piece. There you got 40 points freebee towards the 70 needed for a C. 3 tests at 20% each. U only need to show up 4 test n score 50 on each. So easy a caveman can do it!
Da reason u r seaching is to decide who's going to be ur next prof. He's the only 1 who teaches this class which makes this pointless. Nevertheless, I barely read anything, or paid attention to his lectures pulled an A. Didnt learn any either. Cant recomend him but u have no choice. On the other hand this is just a fake class we all have to take.
Don't recommend, but there is no other choice. u will gain very lil if any from this class. Easy to pass barely any work. Test are common sense. No need 4 lecture to pass those tests. Do not try to understand him n u will be ok. Lacks maturity but that may come later with experience. longest 75 min ever; just show up for tests n save gas n time!
Once you figure out the format, it's an easy class. Do all the homework and case commentaries! I wish we could have had feedback on the case commentaries other than just the points earned. If you go to class and participate, the exams aren't tough. He does have his opinions and not afraid to share lol!
He's funny and down to earth and he wants you to understand which is super rare with professors these days. Do all the Interactive lessons and written case commentaries. The class is pretty interesting.
Dr Clark has a good class. Do the reading and at least put thought into the interactive lessons and you will do fine. For gods sakes read the assignments and participate in discussion or he forces a quiz! Can be a bit rude and egotistical at times but has gotten much better at staying in the subject and not rambling. Overall a fun Socratic style.
I really liked this class and professor A LOT! He is funny and he tells you exactly what he wants from you. Class is not mandatory but I'd always go and I suggest you go to, I felt they were very helpful. Yea he is sarcastic but very open minded. He's a very smart man and class is VERY easy, tests ARE common sense I'd get B's without trying
Professor Clark is sarcastic and acts like he is smarter than everyone else. He is very clear in what he wants and the exams are fairly easy. I never used the book. Extra credit is available but hard to get. Non-cumulative final.
Too bad, this is his last semester at UTSA. What an Interesting guy, learned a lot from this Prof. Class was fairly easy, ended up getting A+.
Took for Social Ethical Issues. The class requires a good deal of work but Clark had awesome lectures that were very interesting and thought-provoking. His course got me interested in going to law school and am currently applying to some for after I graduate from UTSA.
I learned so much I want to find him and learn more.
