Prof. Dawes is the best math professor I have taken at BMCC (I've taken 3 others). His style of teaching is exceptional, and his use of Webassign has helped me pass 051 (took it with 2/3 of the other profs. and never passed.) I currently take his 056 class, and will be taking his 206 class in the summer. I highly recommend him to all students.

I would definitely recommend professor Dawes. He is very helpful and makes sure you understand the material being taught. Very nice. The material he gave was extremely helpful. He goes over the homework in class and whatever we don't understand, he had our back. Again I would recommend him any day. If you want to pass your remedial exam, take HIM!!

I hated math before taking prof. Dawes 056 remedial math class. My previous professors were terrible and thought if you didnt get the material well then tough! Prof. Dawes works hard to ensure the understanding of material. He wants and helps all his students to pass. His style of teaching kept me engaged because it was easy to understand !

BMCC requires all 051 student s to pass the same end of the year exam(CUNY Wide). Passing just the class final is not enough to pass the course.Don’t waste your time with a professor who can’t prepare you for this. i am having MAT056 class with him.He is young and energetic, very clear and shows different ways to solve the math. he is very serious about about attendance and lateness. over all he is great. only thing i hate about him that he doesn't finish the class until the last second. this is good in sense but after 4 hours of class we get tired!

This professor although no one has heard of him from LIU he is a really great professor he is very considerate. HE IS A MUST TAKE professor helps out and makes math great and the way he teaches is great we use most of online tools and is very liniant. He is a great professor.

If you want to get out of Math 051 then I strongly suggest you take his class he's extremely helpful and he makes sure you understand the material before I took his class I took math 051 3 times! But when I was placed in his class I was relieved and was confident to take the final ...seriously take his course to get the help you need!

Due to my absence from High School for over 7 years, I was frighten that my rusted math skills will make it difficult to cope with the requirements. Lord, this man is so gorgeous. I was so bothered by his beauty but it motivated me to stick with this Math thing and I ended up doing really well in his class. He's a great professor. The class is well organized - the materials that were presented to us and used for HW were very relevant to the test and quizes that we had to take. Prof. Dawes is the man for Math.

He's a great math professor and wants you to really learn. You have to be on time everyday and pretty much listen to what he teaches in class. He explains it thoroughly and breaks it down step by step so there is absolutely no way you would be confused by his instructions. If you try hard enough you should at least get an A.

The best PreCalc professor you can ever have. There is some self-teaching yourself in this class, although he goes over most of the topics that need to be discussed and the most important ones. Highly recommend him! Do all your work, and you'll be fine. Took PreCalc once and got an F, this time around I'm getting an A, thanks to Professor Dawes.

I took Math 51 in the fall and failed, the professor was awful, he couldn't teach anything. Then I found Professor Dawes. He broke everything down and explained every step of the process. I got a 96 on the Cuny final, I got 1 question wrong. He is an amazing professor and I highly recommend him. I would totally take him again. Thank you Professor.

It was an hybrid course. He used to post online homework s on web-assign. He gave us 4 exams. and dropped the lowest one. his 3rd exam was an online take home test and before each exam he would post 2 review exams. It was an easy A and didnt use the book at all. He really amazing and would help you at any cost. Attendance is a must in his class.

Prof. Dawes has a way of explaining the material in a way that allows you to actually learn & understand it. As long as you show up & do the online work you'll pass the exams with flying colors. He teaches the hard stuff first so that when it comes to the easy parts you've actually already learned it. I would take any other math course with him.

I gave a '5' for easiness because I had previous training in Trigonometry, College Algebra and other math courses beforehand, the material itself is rather challenging. Professor Dawes tells you on the first day of class what you need to do to succeed. If you do your homework, attend class, and use the resources he gives you, expect to do well.

I feel like I am teaching myself after every class. However, he does give plenty of resources for us.

All one need to do well is just ask for help. We meet 1x/week & homework & some quizzes are online. He covers everything necessary in class & is a true teacher, not just mathematician & offers supplemental videos & aides as he understands different people learn better in different ways. He goes out of his way to make time for students out of class

Prof. Dawes was amazing! His explanations are always clear and he answers questions perfectly. His method of teaching is usually giving homework first and then explaining, which i didnt like, but as the semester goes by you start to get the hang of it. Overall, as long as you do the work and listen in class its pretty much very easy to pass

I took the class this fall and prof Dawes, made it an interesting class for all the students. He also provided us with a lot of resources on webassign and also other sites. I would definitely take his class again.

THIS CLASS WAS ONE OF THE CLASSES I WAS WORRIED ABOUT BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE VERY HELPFUL. THE HOME WORKS MIGHT BE A LITTLE LENGTHY BUT THEY HELP A LOT FOR THE TESTS. THE PROFESSOR USES A VERY HELPFUL WEBSITE THAT LETS YOU TRACK EVERYTHING. HE IS ALSO VERY HELPFUL AND DOES WANT TO HELP YOU ACHIEVE AN A IN HIS CLASS. HE ALSO DROPS YOUR LOWEST TEST.

He gives you a 5 minute grace period in the morning, just in case you're going to be late. If you exceed that grace period, call up a friend in the class or text them that you are going to be late. If you ever need to hand in a late homework or assignment, it's all computer based by the way, then just click the extend submission button. Very nice.

Professor Dawes took the time to explain the content of each subject area of precalculus he taught. He emphasized certain areas and rephrased and explained them to signal to you that they were important and that you should pay attention to them. He is helpful, thorough, and clear in his teaching. He is also fair and wants you to succeed.

I am one of his students at LIU. He is really good in making things clear and always takes his time in explaining them. He is also fair with grading even though his is really strict with attendance. Overall he is a good prof and would definitely take again.

He was always there to help if needed. Wants you to pass the class as much as you do, if not more. You must pay attention, or he will call you out for being on your phone or focusing elsewhere. Participate in class, put forth some effort, and do the reviews for the exams and you can almost assuredly expect a good grade.

Professor Dawes is an amazing math professor. That is it. If you want to learn math and do it properly, he's the man to teach that. As a person, however, it's different. He picks on you even if you stop paying attention for a second and sometimes it's arbitrary and feels extremely insulting as a college student. Other than that, he's great!!

This professor is absolutely amazing! Despite being a straight A student, I have always struggled with math. The way he explains allowed to understand the material. His priority is for you to learn, and I always felt comfortable asking questions. And unlike many other professor at BMCC that talk down on the students, he is very respectful.

Can be intimidating at first and seems very authoritative, but in reality he just wants you to be focused and keep up with the lesson so he will call on you if you're not following. Very understanding and fair grader. He's not trying to trick you, he will say this and it's true. Lots of hw but he gives ample opportunity to improve your grade.

I would recommend this professor, but I wouldn't recommend taking a hybrid course in the summer/winter. Just don't do it; you'll have assignments due every single day and you'll wonder where half of your summer went. But Dawes has an interesting teaching style (you'll see what I mean if you take him) that keeps you on edge. He's a chill professor.

I took a hybrid class with him for both precal with an A and calculus an A minus. You just have to do the assignments on time and show up for classes. You determine your grade, if you complete all assignments which are easy just time consuming thats a big part of your grade. He also gives take home quizes and take home exams.

Get ready to work! Had him for Stats /Algebra. HE DOES NOT & WILL NO BABYSIT YOU! You HAVE to do the work in order to pass. Its a lot of stats work, if you do REALLY good in class and mess up on the midterm and final he'll pass you but you would have to get at least a 65 or higher for him to bump you up if not you're screwed.

Learning under professor Dawes was truly an experience. It was an emotional rollercoaster. Dawes requires a lot from his students. He wants you to show up for yourself and try your hardest.
