Great lecture. Uses examples to help us remember.

good teacher, does powerpoint as lacture each day. Gives multi-choice tests and sometimes curves. also gives outline of each section for easy reference for test and less note taking time= means better concentration for me.
While he can be a smarty pants, don't let that stop you from taking his class. He pays attention to lateness, class participation and absentees. The best part about his class is that he does powerpoint presentation, so you can listen more and note worry about note taking. I'd recommend him to all.
He's perfect for those who like visual lectures. He uses with powerpoint and passes the slideshow out so you can take notes. If you study your notes meticulously, you'll get a good grade. As for his lab, his quizzes are SO EASY. The questions are exactly from his ppt slides for the lab.
Professionally, Prof.****th is very knowledgeable. However, I think he's very arrogant, unapproachable, and impersonal. He finds pleasure in making test/quizzes very difficult. For those looking for someone that is understanding, approachable, and helpful...find someone else.
he is very smart. If someone fails his class it is because they just is not studing. He is approachable, however you must realize you are the student and he is the teacher. I really like the way he lets you express yourself and still let you know if you knew the material you would be teaching it .
Great Teacher, Still need to study, study, study!
Teacher is brilliant. Does not question to make people look stupid - does it to get them to think for themselves (which most tcc students can't.) If you don't like Prof.****th's class it's because you are looking for an easy A. Great Prof - not bad for an "old Navy cook" who has a Masters Degree
Looks like Professor H* learned how to rate himself. There's no way students made these comments.
i took him for lab and he uses power point and but not enough notes to understand what he's talking about. for those who understand when the teacher talkes than just reading the book. not a good choice. i had to read the book after class, and i didn't always have time to do that. so....
He is the most obnoxious, arrogant and rude person I have ever met. I have never heard of an instructor who gets so much pleasure from making a course as difficult as possible. He wants to failing students. I do not type this to get back at him as I received an A in his class and lab. I wish I had known about this site before taking his class.
I had him a while ago for bio 101 a few years ago and he was great, upbeat personality and enthusiastic....HOWEVER, i took him recently for 141 and wow, has he changed!!! He often got very rude with other students and you could not ask for help without him making you feel stupid. His tests became 10x harder too!!
give me a brake. not very nice and not a good teacher. i left every class feeling angry and stupid. should treat students with respect. after all we do pay his salery
Hes a jerk, i forgot to the flip the quiz over and do it and he failed my quiz. And I asked him if I could do it again and he said... "guess you won't do that again" ha, funny... not
Great professor! Have never seen him be rude. He uses power point, if you take good notes and study them the tests are fairly easy. He has a good sense of humor, has had the class cracking more than once.He also takes the time to answer you questions and he explains thing very well. Smart man & HOT too. Gotta love that bad boy image!!!
Knowledgable, organized, power point notes are the best to study from. If your a sensitive personality or have to ask questions, THIS IS NOT THE CLASS FOR YOU! Best for independent learner styles. Moves through info quickly and efficently. Learned a lot but had my dignity and self respect stepped on.
I don't know what most of these people are talking about. Mr.****th has made learning Biology a lot easier. He gives you everything he teaches on a sheet. Study that sheet and it's an easy 'A'. I have never heard him insult anyone. I was very confused throughout class, but with the handout and what I retained from class, the tests were fairly ez.
He is AWESOME!! GIves you everything on a powerpoint. If you fail it is your own stupidity and laziness becasue it is right in front of you and before exams he shows the things he will be testing you on!! Very nice, organized, interesting person! Take him he is great :)
Very helpful
He gives you bonus points just for showing up to class.
He is the worst teacher in the world. I hated him. I had to drop out of Anatomy because of him. He made it so hard and so uninteresting. He wasn't helpful and he was kind of mean. He just reads off of a PowerPoint.
He is awesome!!! He teaches by powerpoint and he lets you know what to expect on his tests and I havent heard him say anything mean or out of the way to anyone!. If you study your information packet you will get an A on your tests!
Explains biology very well...can relate teachings to everyday life. He answers all questions even if not related to what's being discussed. If you study and go to every class you will make an A. Excellent class! I would recommend him to any student.
Great Professor, he is well educated and he really knows his stuff. I had him for Human Bio and I will be taking Micro with him over the summer. Just for the record, I have never seen him be rude to anyone. And wow is he cute!
I had him for Bio 101 lab and again for Bio 141 lecture. The man is in love with Powerpoint, which makes note-taking easy. All the important information is in the packets he hands out so you hardly need to write down anything. If you just review the packets you'll do well on the tests. His quizzes in Bio 101 lab were sooo easy. Great teacher!
Knows what he is talking about.
It is only easy if you study. He makes the topics interesting and teaches in a way that you can use the info in day to day life.
Great professor!! Very prepared. He knows what he is talking about. The course is challenging but he helps make it easier to understand. I enjoyed his class.
very funny has good sence of humor would definetly take him again.. he has no time for slackers though
good teacher... funny, smart, helpful. I loved how he posted our grades every once in a while. It was good to know where you stood. I got a C in the class but only because I struggled with lab. I'm not so much a science person. LOVED the powerpoints...you hardly have to take notes.
Fairly easy. As long as you show up for class and pay attention you should do O.K. I had him for lab only. I would take him again. He explains things well and will give you extra help if you ask for it.
Professor H was real fair and really knew that science! He made the clas interesting I wish I could take another class with him.
Very arrogant and sarcastic.Talked so fast as if he did not care wether you grasped the information or not. Would not recommend.
His class is really easy if you attend regularly and take notes. He gives out class notes & you rarely use the book. The only time you use it is for the diagrams. He's a great teacher.
He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches and keeps the class interesting.
Clear and precise lecture. Follow your notes he gives you and you have it made in the shade! Excellent teacher
Excellent. Handouts are helpful. Can't COMPLAIN!
Make yourself known to him by participation and you'll be considered for an overall additional points for the final grade. Got an A without the expensive textbook!Lecture printouts were indispensable.
Mr.Horeth is a great teacher. His teaching style is very welcoming. I Earned an A.He is serious about participation and paying attention in class. Don't expect E.C just work to earn a good grade, and if E.C is granted, consider it a gift. He does not try to trick you on ANY test. Just study and understand the information and you should do well. S.T
terrific prof. taking him now for 141. extremely knowledgable and fair. hope he teaches 142 as well
Awesome teacher.Don't believe any bad hype about him.
He is ok..Kind of wierd. Not very personable. But the class is ok for the most part, not great but not bad
He's a good teacher. The only issue I've had is that he's not easy to talk to outside of class. His interpersonal skills are a bit lacking. It's sad really because I actually enjoyed him otherwise. The class is a great refresher for A&P. He gives lots of extra credit and tests are straight from his powerpoints. I'd take him again.
He is a good teacher. Use the powerpoints to take notes, study it, and you will do well on the test in lecture and quizzes in lab. Lab quiz every week. I would recommend him.
I think he is pretty good in lecture. You get a lot of information, fast and need to devote A LOT of study time to do well. His lab is a bit confusing. He really doesn't take the time to completely explain things. You either grasp it, or you don't. He's nice in class, but asking him a question outside of class can leave you feeling belittled.
professor****th explains everything very well with examples related to us. tests are fairly easy and exactly from notes he gives you..no real note taking..about 4 tests and a final. real good teacher i thought recommend for lab also. only thing is you cant really ask him questions without feeling stupid.
he uses powerpoint in lecture and lab and gives the powerponint to you to study. the tests come form what he says in class and in the notes he gives. The class is boring because he repeates what you are reading. You stay in lab the whole time. you have to do a lot of memerizings for pics that are for the weekly quizes and practicles.
Don't believe anything bad you read about him. he is a great professor and is very helpful to the students. His tests are pretty easy if you study. If you do the work you will have no problem getting an A in his class
I found him to be a very good biology teacher this semester. He gives you all of the notes that you need. Just study the powerpoints word for word and understand them completely and you will do just fine. The only bad thing I have to say about him is that he is very personable outside of class time. His office hours he acts completely different.
He is a good professor if you study. All he really does in class is repeat what is on the power point. It can get kinda boring at times but as long as you put forth the effort to study you should make an A in his class. He does however make u feel stupid no matter what question you ask him.
Prof.****th is awesome!! Every test contains exactly what was lectured in class, he repeats the important info. two to three times so everone gets it. He always answers questions and he has an outstanding attitude. Great Professor!!!
I randomly picked him and he is great. He tells you exactly what you need to know for the test and his diagrams and tests are easy IF you study. Not very personal, but is open to questions. Recommend!!
Horeth is a great Professor. All lectures are understandable and he repeats himself many times. Attendance is a must, I made mostly "A's" on all tests yet had a final grade of an 89... he couldn't give me that fraction of a point because of my missed days... he won't give you extra credit either if you have missed days. He has that military mentali
Made class enjoyable, gave hints on test material. I thought he was personable, but maybe some other students don't like being held accountable- he gives grades according to what the student deserved. Powerpoints were a big help in note-taking.
I think Prof.****th is a wonderful teacher. He teaches exactly what is on the test so there are no tricks. Took him for lab also. His quizzes were easy and straight forward and he gets you well prepared for the practicals. He has no time for slackers, so show up and be prepared and you'll do just fine:)
Very arrogant and did not know how to say hello or good day to his student. He presents himself so not clean and unprofessional. I will not take this stuck-up teacher if he was the only instructor left on earth.
not good
HIS POWERPOINTS ARE A BIG HELP & HE DOESN'T TRY TO TRICK YOU ON QUIZZES. AS LONG AS YOU KNOW THE MATERIAL EACH WEEK & KEEP UP, YOU SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM MAKING AT LEAST A "B", IF NOT, AN "A". HE DIDN'T TEACH LECTURE LAST SEMESTER, BUT I TOOK HIM FOR LAB & GOT AN "A". HE'S ACTUALLY A NICE GUY & WILL MAKE TIME TO TALK IF U HAVE PROBLEMS.
Professor****th was awesome. Come to class, and come to learn, you will do well. Before asking ANY questions, read your lab packet. He has a real passion for what he teaches. Quizzes are usually mult choice, matching, and some fill-ins. Gives a little EC and sometimes partial credit (sp.errors) on quizzes and practicals. Hope that helps!
He is a very good teacher. He teaches from powerpoint handouts and goes over everything you need to know. His test comes from the handouts he gives. He also gives EC. As long as you study the handouts you will get an "A". I also took his class for lab. Same thing, study your handouts. Overall very good teacher.
He is very mono-tone. Boring to listen to first thing in the morning. He gives out powerpoints. His test are fairly easy. He is though very arrogant.
Such a great teacher, wish he taught 102! His tests are straight from the notes from class. He even gives you a copy of his powerpoint presentations that he teaches from. I had him for lab also and it was great! There are no trick questions on tests. So easy, take him!!

He gives you the notes ahead of time, tells you what's going to be on the test and expects you to show up every day to learn. The class is extremely hard, but he presents the material in a fair fashion and gives everyone a chance. One of the best professors I've ever had, it's a shame people take his self confidence as being standoffish.
Good instructor, very organized, delivers a good lecture, uses PowerPoint presentations and handouts, speaks clearly and loud enough for everyone to hear. Explains the material in a manner that is easy to understand. Tells you what to focus on for exams. No problems answering questions and guiding you if you need extra help.
Good teacher, just very arrogant, doesn't return phone calls and God forbid you are sick, he?ll penalize you for missing class. Other than him just being a person you wouldn?t want to normally interact with outside of class, he?s good teacher material.
Had him for two semesters and he is really great. Is fair about the learning material. Does not expect you to know everything but just enough. If you pay attention and study you will make a A or B in his class compared to D and C from other students and their instructors
Awesome teacher!! He teaches in a great way-gives visuals, notes through power point (mostly everything you need to know), so there are no surprises on tests and exams. Speaks loudly and clearly so is easy to understand. I would take him again and again if I could.
Study Powerpoint handout... book is somewhat useless... cool guy... could unwind some tension before class... don't miss class he hates that... he has a little attitude but it grows on ya
VERY GOOD INSTRUCTOR I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM. HE KEEPS THE SUBJECT ENJOYABLE AND HE ENJOYS WHAT HE DOES
great teacher. uses powepoints every class and theres no way to fail unless you arent there or dont study. has a bit of an attitude when you ask him quetsions but after a while you get used to it. you learn alot from him and its not a dreadful class. good for lab too. really explains everything well.
Mr.****th is the BEST teacher. I wish he taught 142 :(
Professor****th is awesome. He is a great teacher. Enjoys science and it shows. Can be a little hard to talk to one on one, but still would recommend him to anyone.
He is a great teacher,he is the best biology teacher in TCC, do not believe what other students say about him. I took two semester with him, and foud that he is very knoledgeable in the class . I just took 141 this past fall. He is great teacher.
BEST BIO 150/141 INSTRUCTOR TCC HAS HE SO ROCKS!!!! HIS POWERPOINTS ARE YOUR TEST IF YOU FAIL ITS BECAUSE YOU DID NOT STUDY AT ALL HE JUST ABOUT GIVES YOU THE CLASS ON A SILVER PLATER TAKE HIM AND LISTEN ,STUDY THE POWER POINT HE GIVES,RECORD THE LECTURE, HE WANTS HIS STUDENTS TO LEARN AND PASS WITH KNOWLEDGE HE REALLY SHOWS HE ENJOYS TEACHING
Avoid this guy at all cost. If you can't get sugermeyer, then I guess you can settle. But this dude has a complete lack of social skills or any interest in you. Don't bother asking him questions, he will make you feel stupid, like he shouldnt have to answer you.He wont respond if you say have a nice day or anything. This guy f***** sucks as a human
I take back what I said about him having no social skills. I communicated with him after class and found him to be very nice. I think he might be "stand-offish" to his students so that they don't confuse him being nice with him being a pushover. He's actually a very nice guy.
This professor is very hard; he walks into the class expecting you to "know" Anatomy. In his eyes he is only there to review the lecture with you. He is not there to teach you, he utilizes PowerPoint for all lectures. Test question are a minimum of 80 question no extra credit. However, you better do a heck of alot of studying to pass his class!
He is probably the best anatomy teacher. All his tests are based on his notes and it's up to you to study them. I had him for both lab and lecture over the summer and if you apply yourself you'll get an A in his class.
Mr. Dale Horeth is a great teacher very helpful, and his class is so easy, only if you study your ass off, it is a lot of work, Horeth goes into detail when he teaches his classes, and leaves out nothing, he does not make you do unessecary work. He is great
I love professor****th! I have him for microbiology and I only wish I had for the rest of all my prereq sciences! this is my last one and I love him. He really knows his stuff. All the other people that are complaining about his A&P, a&p's are hard classes. you're gonna have to study more than normal. no matter the professor.
Very rude teacher. He acts like you are dumb and shouldn't ask questions. Do not be late on test day, even for a min cuz he will mark off points. And if ur sick, he doesn't care ull still penalize for that! He does know his stuff, and is extremely smart. I wouldn't take him tho.
Very smart, he definitely knows what he is talking about. Only issue I have is that he treats you like you are dumb if you ask a question which is taken like he is just rude. Other than that he is very straight forward and gives you all the information you need to pass his class.
I took Horeth for BIO150. He provides powerpoints for every lecture and was very clear and straightforward about what info was required and what was not. His class was challenging, but as long as you study, you're good. I'm taking him for another class b/c I like his no BS attitude.
Mr. Horeth is an incredible instructor. He is very fluent in his descriptions and explains difficult topics using analogies that are very helpful. This is my second time having him as an instrucor and I intend on selecting him for all future Biological/Scientific classes!!!
He is the worst teacher I have ever had. He does not know what he is talking about and he often goes off subject. He tells you one things going to for sure will not be on the quiz and it will end up being the main topic of the quiz. If you want to get an A do not take him!
He's a really good professor but an a**hole at times. Dont be late or leave class early!!! Other than that his test and quizzes are easy if you study his powerpoints..I would take him again!
i agree that he know his information but he does not deliver it very well. i like lectures to be interesting but all he does is hand out powerpoints and reads off of them while explaining them. he tends to get off topic and rambles on and on. not personable. was in the hospital and he gave me a 0 b/c i couldnt make it to class.
He has a no BS attitude but as long as you take the notes that he puts up and study those notes then you will get in A in the class. His tests are straight from the PowerPoints so make sure to attend every class and again take the notes.
Dale Horeth has the potential to be a great professor but lets his ego get in the way. He is extremely sarcastic and is very unapproachable. At no time did I feel comfortable asking questions during class. If you take good notes and stick to to studying those youll be good. I would not recommend taking this professor.
I took him for Microbiology and really enjoyed his class. I majored in Liberal Arts and really did not have much interest in the subject, but he made it very interesting. I don't know why people were so scared to ask him a question. As long as you know your stuff you should be fine. Very smart and clear. Explains very well. Study power points
Pretty self explanatory. Follow the syllabus exactly, mandatory attendance to copy notes (or a friend who can copy/take proficient notes), and there is a quiz at every lab meeting, and a lot of questions come from the lab book in addition to the powerpoint lecture. I personally do not care for the subject, but Dr. Horeth made the class interesting.
I took Mr. Horeth for BIO150. He provides powerpoints for every lecture and was very clear and straightforward. Mandatory attendance required. He doesn't care about excuses. However, overall I enjoyed his class.
NOT AN EASY CLASS, TAKE NOTES AND SHOW UP! This teacher is good, an ego, a bit funny(dry humor)strick, and straight-fowarded. It's not him(I will NOT take him again), but me (not focused). DO NOT TAKE THIS OVER THE SUMMER. I DIDN'T GET THE GRADED I WANTED, I KNOW WHAT TO DO KNOW AND FINISH THE COURSE, GOOD, BAD OR INDIFFERNT DON'T DROP OUT!
Not a very nice professor at all. Provides very little extra credit, does not care about those older students who return to school, cut throat, tests, especially practicals are impossible, over 180 questions and he expects you to memorize over 700 muscles and 500 bones. Ridiculous expectations/mean, fails 50%!
Professor Horeth was a very no nonsense instructor, which I found refreshing. At the same time he was very clear about everything that he taught. This is not an easy class, but he made it very interesting for me especially in the Lab. I would recommend taking him if you want to really learn about Anatomy and Physiology!
He is very arrogant & unfair. He shows favoritism towards students who start out doing well in his class. He kind of talks rushes a bit much when he explains something.
There is a lot of material to remember for this class so be prepared! BIO 142 is not as difficult as BIO 142 if you pay attention in class and study. We only had 4 test this semester in lecture and he doesn't drop any tests so if you fail you fail. Also, he is very sarcastic when answering questions.
Professor Horeth is straight forward and no nonsense about him. His lectures are from PowerPoint and some things are posted on Blackboard. He tests on the understanding not the memorization of the material. So if you have a hard time understanding the material you will not do good on his tests!
Mr. Horeth knows his stuff. But he is an incredibly stiff teacher. No slack if you're late or if you have an emergency come up and need to leave. Students in my class wouldnt ask him questions because they were afraid of him. And forget about getting any help in clairifying a confusing question on a quize. If youre Type A personality, youll do well
This Prof. is the most horrible one. All his tests are cumulative and over that he cut points like 10 to 5 if your phone accidentally ring. Anyway very hard to get an A in his class. i dont recommend him to anyone
The person below me is ridiculous. If your phone rings in class, in the middle of lecture, OF COURSE he's going to take off points. It's RUDE! Anyway, great class. Straightforward professor for lecture and lab. His tests are straight off of his notes, which you copy in class. Attendance is mandatory! Tests are pretty easy, just study his notes.
Horrible. lecture was all over the place. He expects you to memorize and understand way too much info for the time given. you do not know what to study. He adds his own material to the chapters in the book. You are usually tested on about 4 chapters at a time and must know them thoroughly.I'm an A student but i think he enjoys watching you fail.
This professor is the director of the Bio department so he is very tough. Ask a question and you will get the stare down like your dumb and should already know this. DO NOT bring a water bottle in lab or you will get points off. NO extra credit and no emotion. DO NOT take him over summer and avoid him if possible
Very rude to students. He does not tell you what's going to be exactly on the test.He also wants you to know way to much information for the tests. Do not take his class if you want to pass.
I took him for BIO141 Lab & the class is hard anyone who says otherwise must have a perfect memory BIO142 for both lecture & lab is the same & his expectations is no different from anyone elses no dropped quizzes believes students rely on it too much 4 tests in Lec practicals do have 180+ ?s but with a complex body like the humans' it's expected
Terribly, terribly hard. Will not give any power points. Must take own notes, and figure out what will be on the test.
I had him for lab. he is SUPER hard. If you ask him for help he doesnt really give you any help, and sometimes has a little bit of attitude with your or "looks down" on you. hes a nice guy but his quizzes are super super hard.
I didn't find this class that hard. It takes a lot of study time of course...it's microbiology. I did good on all his test. Write everything down from his power points and listen to what he says you need to know from the book. You study all that...you'll do great!
A&P I & II are difficult! His lectures are VERY easy to understand, and his test are pretty fair. You do write all your notes, but the tests are straight from the notes. Has pet peeves: phones/late stud/pajamas but THIS IS COLLEGE.Strict in his grading, but you can get an A.He is sarcastic &he prefers you don't ask questions but tolerable.must attend.
Cannot ask questions without it being throw back in your face. The man is rude and sarcastic and I would never take a class by him again.
I'll start off with the bad side saying that he is very strict with attendance for lectures. Also he doesn't post power points on blackboard so take good notes. However, other than that I enjoyed him as a professor. His lectures are clear and he covers everything thats on the test. Study your notes and you will do well. He is friendly and funny.
Dr H is very strict. I had him for 142 lecture. Not the warmest professor I've ever had. Tests are very lengthy and require A LOT of studying. The Dropout rate for bio 142 was high. I studied and was very fortunate to get a good grade. Prepare to take a lot of notes and use your text book for studying.
He is exceptionally knowledgeable and uses a lot of real-world examples to accompany unfamiliar concepts. He lectures from powerpoints that are not posted online, so you have to take a lot of notes, but his tests come directly from the notes. He does not tolerate being late or cell phone use, so be responsible. Overall, I enjoyed his class.
He's great for lecture. Tests come straight from the lectures so its important to take good notes. He really knows his stuff and he explains things well. He also has a sarcastic sense of humor which can be pretty entertaining.
He is very strict. His Power-points had NOTHING to do with the test. His wording on the tests were totally opposite of what was in his notes. I was so confused and couldn't stay focused.
He is a very strict teacher that expects your very best. With that said I have never learned as much as I did in this class. I thoroughly enjoyed the lecture and lab and would highly suggest any serious student that enjoys a challenge to take his class! :-)
I appreciated his no-nonsense approach. This is college & he expects his students to behave like adults. He doesn't encourage classroom discussion but his lectures are very clear & concise. He's strict but he makes his expectations known. No surprises. If you study & care enough to do well, you have no excuse not to. Otherwise, find another field.
One of the hardest classes I've ever taken but definitely learned a lot. He is strict about attendance and has high expectations but he's very knowledgeable. He presents information clearly and specifies what you need to know for the test. Would take a class with him again.
He is a very strict teacher, he knows what is talking about but he is very rude. his tests are nothing like what he goes over during class, they are like trick questions. if you try to ask for help or even have a question he'll come back with a snarky remark as though you are stupid. don't take him!
Very tough teacher, no extra credit, no curve. Take one of the other teachers, they all give extra credit.
Adequate, competent in fields of BIO and higher-ed. Approachable if not friendly, he wont waste your time or leave you feeling unprepared. NOT a big fan of student questionscomments. Grades attendance!takes 5 points from grade for even ONE absencetardy; fails you at 5+. No HW or quizzes; 5 exams, NONE droppedcurved; absolutely NO extra-credit!
Horeth is a great instructor. He's clear and by all means straightforward. Fill in notes. Many people claim he doesn't encourage questions, but you honestly shouldn't have to ask a question if you pay attention to his clear lecture. Hard grader, so watch your spelling and follow directions. Attendance is mandatory. Highly recommend.
No extra credit. No bonuses. No homework. Grades based on attendance and tests. To get an A, work HARD. More importantly, studying and memorizing processes are important. Do whatever to accomplish this. Don't miss class, you will pay for it. Not good answering questions. Sometimes gives honest responses, other times cutting & snide. Lectures good.
This professor will not let you be 15 minutes late without getting penalized by taking away that days attendance and test points. Doesn't like when you ask to repeat things. If you're looking to just get through this course, a few hours of study time will get you to pass. Over all not that bad of a professor. But I'm glad this class is over.
I have above average grades in his class but God forbid you get sick or are late more than once, because your A will drop to a B in no time flat. He's not worth the money. Seriously, find a different professor. He's not even that good of a teacher. He talks at the speed of light and gets offended when we ask him to repeat. Dude. That's your job.
This man should NOT be allowed to teach. He belongs secluded in a work environment that does not involve communicating with the human race. Clearly, he does not have any type of tolerance or compassion for people nor is he interested in helping his students succeed. Do not ask questions, you will receive a RUDE, snarky response. Be-littles students
He gives you everything you need to pass. There are study guides that you fill in blanks during the lectures. Yes, it does sound easy, but it isn't. He then rewords the tests in weird ways so you don't understand the question unless you really studied
Had for lab. When asked a question about something we are doing, he tells students to look it up on their phone. He seems like he really knows what he's teaching, but doesn't enjoy the classroom. I get the impression that he'd rather be in a lab somewhere. Talks down to students and really makes the most passionate student feel inadequate
Grades are based on tests (50%), lab (40%), attendance (5%) and graphs (5%). No extra credit is offered. He provides a study guide to follow with the power points during lecture. I believe that 95% of the questions on his test come from the study guides so he does provide a lot of help there on what to study. I would take his class again.
Tough instructor! Makes you work for your grade, very knowledgeable and thorough. No extra credit, but all study guides help with tests. No surprises! If you're looking for an easy "A", move on. IF you're looking to challenge yourself, he's the instructor you need. Do all work, study and you'll be fine! I enjoyed his class, it was interesting!
Micro: I recommend if you're looking for a challenge. You will have to work A. Doesn't accept excuses for absences. Accepts late work but for half points. Gives helpful lecture notes on BB for his powerpoints. Study those for tests, also video tests for your 5 exams. No book needed. Very snarky & cold, but deff knows his stuff. I would take again.
Tests are very difficult and powerpoints from lecture are not made available.
Great professor. Very inspirational. Study guide is very helpful. His lectures are the best. He knows how to prepare students for the next level.
Strict on tardiness and missed days. I was 5 mins late once and got points taken off both my participation & quiz grade. Class was an easy A but he doesn't care about his students.
There is a quiz every class. You must be present every class to get notes which is mandatory to pass each quiz. He is a tough grader, you must spell everything correctly or else it is points off. He goes quickly through his power points so it is hard to understand things. Also, he does not like to help when you have a question. I would not take him
He was a great professor. He gives notes and you fill them in along with the lecture. IF you study the notes he gives, you'll pass. Don't need textbook and he has a thorough knowledge of the subject. Attend class and he does not tolerate cell phone use in class.
I would not take him for a lecture class again. He goes to fast and at times seems unfriendly. He takes off way too many points for being late.
Truly a great teacher. Anatomy is a difficult period. However, he makes it really simple. He posts a study guide for each lecture that you fill out in class. If you study it you will do fine. His tests come strictly from the study guides. He does not tolerate lateness or cell phone use. I will be taking him again for BIO 142 and BIO 150
Do not be absent or even late to this class. It isn't worth it he takes a lot of points off. He's a VERY good teacher. He knows what he's talking about and is very knowledgeable. Also a very fair grader. He is very matter-of-fact, and a no excuses type of guy. This is a HARD class, especially if you aren't a science major. Be ready to put in work.
He's very upbeat about his lectures, and I feel he really expresses his love to teach. Don't ask far fetched questions during session he might look at you funny, although he loves them side-bar. All-in-all good guy and great teacher, down to earth too. No- nonsense, so don't fudge around in his class.
Amazing professor. Very knowledgable about the subject. However, if you miss class you miss a lot of information and you, guaranteed, will struggle to get caught up. Do not be more than 15 minutes late, you will get points taken off. If i had studied and paid attention more i would have gotten a B. No nonsense guy so don't try to bs him.
Took him for lab and I recommend him! He is very chill and posts quiz grades same day! There is a quiz every week so don't be late, if your more than 10 minutes late he will send you out the door until students are done testing. There is a lab manual you will need to purchase and is very inexpensive which is a plus with this lab!
I would not take him again for lecture. he goes so far in class. you dont have opportunity to bring up your grade. Just 6 tests in the class through out the semester. do not waste your money on for his class. TCC needs better A and p lecture professor.
NOT an easy class. Textbook not required. Do the work, pay attention in class, study and you will be fine. Gives sheets with fill in the blanks as part of his lectures and pulls test questions from them. Tests are usually a combo of multiple choice and fill in the blanks. Do not miss class, you will not pass.
Enjoyed his lab. Super smart guy! Quizzes are from the book instead of models so you have less to learn on a weekly basis. Found that nice & refreshing after having Dr. Z for 141. Doesn't tolerate any cell phone use & will administer penalties. Funny guy; would love to know how he ended up a bio prof; doesn't seem to match his personality at all.
Probably the worst professor I've had since attending TCC. 1st of all, in the beginning of the course, he already seemed irritated that most of the class was taking BIO just because they needed one science and lab credit. He's hostile, doesn't care about his students whatsoever. His tests are ridiculously hard and he makes it impossible to do well.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He is a really nice guy, but if you are not a good test taker then you won't pass. He only grades test and will take 5 points off your grade if you miss a class. He didnt care that almost all of our class was failing. You don't really need the text book unless you want to study the pictures in the book. i passed by .26 DONT TAKE HI
I'll be straight up when I say it is not an easy class. You are definitely going to have to work for your grade. That said, I'd say take this class if you are actually interested in learning something. Coming from a student that previously failed biology years back, you'll do well if you pay attention in class and study the lecture handouts.
Easy class if you study! He gives out study guides with fill in the blank spaces where you could fill in as he goes through his lectures. His lecture grading system is based on tests and attendance. He grades quickly. He doesn't give extra credits, but everything that you will need for the test are in the study guides. very smart and professional!
Not enough material to learn full concept. Test on material not given. No text. No powerpoints. Dont ask questions unless you want to feel dumb.
Do not take him whatever you do because you will regret it!!! This guy couldnt relate to people if it had to save his life. He says he doesnt give extra credit yet we all overheard a him tell a classmate from another group that he was feeling generous when she told him that he had gave credit for something she got wrong. Like excuse me say WHAT!
He's very interactive with the students and displays a genuine passion for the course material. But I wouldn't recommend him because outside of questions asked in class---which he seems eager to answer and provide deeper understanding---everything that comes out of his mouth is ccondescending and unsympathetic.
Dale is really fair in grading. He definitely knows what he's talking about and is able to elaborate well on concepts with analogies to make them easier to understand. All of the tests are straight out of the study guides (& you only get them IN lecture, so no skips), You can get a good grade in , IF you study the guides well. If not, forget it.
Took micro online because of coronavirus. He made the course crystal clear, no surprises on tests. If you know his powerpoints, you know what you need for all assessments. Lab can be a little hard toward the end, so give it extra study time.
Honestly I wish I dropped his lecture class. As a online professor I think he lacks in many aspects. He throws you power points tells you to learn it and that it. If you are great at teaching yourself than great go for it! His quizzes mean nothing to grade everything is based of tests. I feel he wants students to fail.
responds to emails. gives powerpoints with pictures but no lecture. 1 quiz and test for every unit unless multiple powerpoints. taking him for bio142 because it was so easy. he says which diagrams you must memorize in the powerpoints. super laidback. gives us plenty of time for units. I switched bio141 3 times and he is the best lecture!
Had him for lab and lecture. I enjoyed lecture because he broke things down simply but all the grades for this course are tests. Lab was alright but he just went over the PowerPoint and we had to learn models ourself and I had to study on my own to pass the lab portion. Sometimes snarky when asked a question but alright I guess
This isn't an easy class and you have to be very good at teaching yourself if you're taking it online. He provides Powerpoints with the lecture information and lab diagrams, but that's pretty much the extent of it. If you rely heavily on detailed lectures/assignments that aren't just straight tests, I wouldn't recommend him. BIO145*****
Taking his microbio lecture was great! He makes his lectures precise and easy to understand. There should be no surprises on the exams as long as you study the study guide and the powerpoint that goes along with it. Be able to answer the questions on the study guide, and this class will be a breeze! GL to those taking MB!
So let me start off by saying he LOVES what he teaches and is super passionate and explains material well. Howeve he is super strict on attendance he marked me off for being 2 mins late when the syllabus stated that attendance would be marked for 15 or more minutes. His lecture tests are super hard.
Just very hard and no excuses. If u can spell then take this class. Just a lot of work class seem impossible bc even if passing percentage if u don't have a certain grade average in the hw and test u fail.
Great professor
he was strict and straightforward when it came to grading, and that often made it intimidating to ask questions and he often replied passive aggressively. he is very knowledgeable, and his assignments are not too difficult and he makes sure to provide all the information you need. its hard to get an email back! heads up, you do give a presentation.
He was clear and knowledgeable during his lectures. His grading always made sense, and he provided study material for his tests. There was a presentation, but it's not bad. He was very organized as well. He can be tough to talk to if you have a question, he may be passive aggressive but other than that I thought he was amazing!
