She is a nice lady but all she does is read off power point presentations. Wanted to shoot myself everyday in this class. I did learn some, but so boring.

dont take this class and dont waste your time.
Cannot understand her. She's a terrible teacher. TESTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE! Avoid at all costs. Attendance counts for points but the class is THAT bad where you will not want to go.
Great Professor bad class schedule. The lecture is only 50 mins Dr Wilson had to rush thru the lectures. She had a great attitude even though students complained about EVERYTHING. I loved the class and her enthusiasm. Great class!
She has everything cleared out on a presentation for better studying. She also shows demonstrations that are not in the books, nor the presentations. I believe that some of her teaching methods are a bit ascue as in teaching one object before another, but in light of all else, a great professor. Her accent can be a bit trying but understandable!
hard to understand. she stopped using slides a week in and she has terrible hand writing. lectures are worthless, and the written tests are nothing like what she covers, and takes off a ton of points for stuff that doesnt matter, like syntax errors that the computer would find for you.
Cant understand a word she said. Tests were impossible, class average was 65%.
Dr. Wilson has a thick accent, and her English is VERY hard to understand at times. Even the questions she writes for tests and quizzes makes things harder than they should be. She is very enthusiastic, however, and she's willing to help, but only during her office hours. She has a thing for writing out your code, too.
Very hard class. Her tests are tough, nothing compared to what she has covered in class. Attend her study sessions, it really helps on the tests.
Very critical of students asking questions; often quick to butt in and cut you off if she thinks you're asking a dumb question. When you ask for help, she often talks as if you already know the subject, not tries to clarify it. Had her TA's teach a few times, and that completely threw off the rhythm of the class. Learned more in labs than in class.
The worst professor ive ever had. absolute horrible at helping students with questions, even avioded answering questions. Learned everything about coding in lab. DO NOT TAKE HER. tests are not hard but she is picky so expect to lost at least 15 points even if you understand the concepts of the cource
This class was extremely difficult. The tests are really in depth and the grading is picky. The teacher doesn't make it any easier by acting rude to questions. Her teaching style also makes topics hard to understand. Avoid this teacher.
She wants to help, but just isn't good at it. I've taken her class twice and uh, well, I'm taking 1212 again under a diff professor this fall. Take that advice how you will.
She at least has a personality which many professors here lack. She covers what needs to be covered and answers questions but it's hard to go in detail in the short amount of time she's given. The real LEARNING for her course is done in the required lab. Her accent can make for some funny moments. Her handwriting is kind of bad at times, though.
Her accent is evident, but I could discern what she said. Her teaching style was intelligible, efficacious, and helpful; however, it’s a challenging class because the exams are arduous. Nevertheless, you’ll learn great deal, but do take your own notes (her hand writing is awful). Overall, she was a quality professor, and I enjoyed her enthusiasm!
Dr. Wilson knows what she is doing. On top of that, she is extremely friendly and always willing to help you understand the material. She makes class fun and interesting, and though the tests are tough, she is worth taking.
Dr.Wilson was my favorite professor freshman year. She is nice and very helpful if you are struggling. I hate that she is switching to the SIS Dept. Her clicker quizzes can be tricky, pay close attention to the code shown on the screen or you will easily miss the question! Tests are ok, make sure you study. I would definitely take her again.
Not a bad professor, clicker quiz everyday, she expects you to watch videos before class. Make sure you do or you will be lost and it will impact your clicker quizzes. She can be picky when it comes to tests but she usually offers extra credit. So take advantage of it.
Terrible professor. Could care less about her students. Would not respond to emails for weeks. Clicker quizzes every day. Cold callous demeanor when asked for help. She falsely accused me of cheating which could have jeapordized my college career and brought unfair treatment from my parents. She later recanted the charge with no explaination.
WORST professor in the history of teaching. Clicker quizzes every day, does not teach CRAP in lecture. Expects you to learn everything on your own. Hardest and most unfair grading I've ever seen. Gives take home program test that you would need 30+ hours to complete and still would be hard to make an A on them, if not almost impossible. BEWARE
Second time taking this course because I made a D last semester and needed a C for the minor. Professor did not teach this semester. Group work during class, expects you to watch teaching videos before class. You MUST dedicate TONS of time to this class. Difficult material. Use extra credit when you can. Do ALL work & study EVERY detail for exams.
Worst professor ever. She doesn't know how to teach at all. She doesn't even know how to use the computer! She's teaching a computer science class and constantly has to ask students for help. It's insanely frustrating. If you're a self learning and can teach yourself, it's not a problem, but if you're looking for instruction, look somewhere else.
She tries her best to help you get a job or internship. There are 10 activities and one group project you have to complete. Really easy. Many resume evaluations and mock interview opportunities with big corporations.
AWFUL instructor! You will learn NOTHING in lecture and must learn everything in lab. She focuses on concepts that are outdated or irrelevant and the lecture exams are idiotic at best. I feel sorry for those that did not have prior programming experience upon entering this class. Project instructions are often poor or incorrect. Avoid at all costs.
Has an accent but not too heavy. Goes off topic. Attendance mandatory b/c of random clicker quizzes, but you get a study guide for every test, you do it, 10 points extra on test. If a test concept was hard she will give extra credit quiz, and extra credit for going above and beyond on programming, extra credit got me an A. Just do the work!
No lectures just clicker quizzes. Lab's are way too short to grasp anything of importance. You have to teach yourself , she makes you look up everything on w3schools and videos on youtube anyways. if you really want to learn, and it is not required, create your own webpage and upload on siteground, (what we use) using HTML CSS javascript, PHP.
Professor Wilson doesn't actually teach; she makes us look everything up online in labs. The labs are difficult if you're a beginner. Avoid this professor if you can.
Her class is easy. You're guaranteed an A if you show up to class and lab.
Great teacher! She was so nice, helped alot in the class. Very easy A.
Took her for ITCS3688, a class centered around presentations and oral communication and writing. Not a difficult class at all, but you will need to put in some effort to study, plan, and write. If you can do that and follow a clear syllabus you'll be fine. She gives great feedback, helped with presentation anxiety.
She was very professional and friendly. Expectations are always crystal clear. The curriculum for this class is designed perfectly. Labs are very easy to follow, and you'll learn a few things each week. Great class, great teacher.
Dr. Wilson is a very nice lady. However, she is not much help during office hours and does not actually teach you. When you ask her something about code, her answer is often "look it up on W3schools." The labs and homework assignments are tough if you are new to html/css/javascript. I would recommend looking for a different prof that teaches better
Dr. Wilson is by far one of my favorites! She is a fantastic teacher and very smart! She is very caring and actually helps the class if that means extending a deadline, or dropping an assignment. I took this class online, and just used the online textbook! The group Labs were involved, but easy if you pay attention! TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
If you so much as miss the start of class by as little as 5 minutes, and you miss the Poll Everywhere, no matter the cause no matter the circumstance, Professor Wilson does not care. While she seems nice, and all smiles, behind that is someone with little compassion for anyone. She is a hard person that takes no excuses. 1600 is large and boring.
Professor only showed up on the first day of class. Was never seen again. The rest of the lectures were random guest speakers. There was no correlation between the lectures and labs- everything we did was so random. Just show up and you'll get an A.
Professor Wilson is absolutely amazing both as a person and a professor. 3135 is a hard class and she tells you that the first day of class, but she makes it as painless as possible and you can tell she genuinely cares. Her word is law, but follow instructions and you'll be fine.
She is a great teacher. There is a project due at the end were you create a website through out the semester. There is a lab activity almost every class so you have to be present almost all the days of class. You will be doing HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery
2600 is a pointless class with way more busywork than a 1 credit hour course should require.
Labs are more work than this class is worth. You have to go to 5 "engagement activities." Lectures are somewhat informative when there are professionals speaking. However, the labs are just more work than what a 1 credit hour class is worth.
She truly cares about her students and always tries to bring business partners and alumni to her class to discuss interesting, work-in-real-life topics. Only downside is dead boring labs.
You can do the pollev for attendance and never show up to class. The instructions for the assignments that we have are very vague and unclear. She seems like a nice person though.
Easy A. Show up (if you want -- attendance is through PollEverywhere which can be done from... well... anywhere) and sit. Easy and few assignments.
Technically attendance is mandatory at beginning and end of class, but I definitely took every attendance quiz from my dorm. She doesn't lecture, she just stands there on her ipad while guest panels come in to do her job. And she loves to yell at the room for not being professional or using their laptops because their bored out of their minds.
Easiest A ever. Just show up and listen to the presentations given. But the class was so mind-numbingly boring that I wouldn't have taken if it I had a choice.
She is the worst professor I have ever had. The class itself is super boring but the assignments are easy. As long as you do the assignments you wont fail.
This is and will be the most ridiculous class Ive had to take. I stopped going to class after the third week. That wasnt why everyone hated this class though. It is the assignments we were given. They were so poorly described and quite frankly just a ridiculous waste of time.
Every other class is a pollev quiz, which you have to attend to do (no questions or answers on the pollev website), decent teacher, but very fun to have as a professor. Would recommend
This was the dumbest course I had to take. Also this class was a waste of my time, and i learned NOTHING! Also my friend and I was approached by her and threatened us with tests because we had our laptops opened. Um this is a tech class right?! She takes attendance with pollev qz, so I never showed up to class and somehow have an A+ on attendance.
She did not give many assignments
Some of these have confused rating the class with the professor. Disliking the class has nothing to do with Dr. Wilson's teaching. She is upfront with you about her expectations and she's super funny. There are a few assignments but they are super easy and take like 0 time to do. The class is actually rather informative if you pay attention.
easy, it's just a lot of busywork than 1600. A a lot of the assignments are things I've done before: resumes, papers, class planning. Should be a 2 credit class bc we get more stuff than the 1600 version. The content was more geared toward CCI, I'm in BINF dept so a lot of it wouldn't apply and I'd still have to take a BINF version of this class.
I think she might be the only professor for this class atm. She is pretty knowledgable about CCI and is willing to help you if you have questions. She brought in great guest speakers for a variety of topics. Although she did assign quite a few large assignments. Might be because of the switch to online but still was a lot for a 1 credit class.
There are honestly way too many whiny kids on here afraid of a little bit of work to get better. She had us write one literature review the entire semester and the entire class freaked out even though we all knew since day 1, and honestly, it took me about an hour - 2 hours. She's very lenient, very respected, and provides wonderful opportunities.
Everything was a waste of time, the work was busy work at best. Five page literature review at the end, which is pointless for this class. For the professor, she is braggadocious which is gets annoying. However, not a bad person or teacher (no teaching in this class.) The class is aimed/catered for younger individuals, it was a waste of time for me
Easy class if you just do the busy work, which there isn't much of. She is a pretty bad teacher who obviously doesn't care about actually teaching any material at all. From the beginning to the end of the class you will learn nothing.
Dr. Wilson gets bad reviews because of ITSC 1600/2600. You are required to take one of the two and those classes are insanely boring, but she really shines in a class where she gets to actually teach. Lectures were very easy and went by fast. For labs, she is less useful. Use TA's for help and the class will be very easy.
This class is almost entirely guest lectures and is intended to prepare students to integrate into the CS community both in and outside of school. Advice - get involved EARLY. The full assignment schedule is given out from day one, and you have up to three days to turn in things late for 10% off. Start the final paper early, and you'll be fine.
She isnt understanding at all. Mid March I got sick and missed a lab, she gave me a 0. Then a few weeks later it turns out had been uploading the wrong file type for the past couple assignments, more 0s. She had to make a post on canvas saying we cannot give her criticism because everyone was complaining on Piazza. The TAs basically do everything.
Pretty pointless class if you ask me. Basically different CS speakers for each class. The assignments aren't lined out well but they're graded by TAs so they're pretty lenient depending on who. She's a nice person but I think she could care less about her students. The effort and punctuality of the assignments you do pretty much reflect your grade
Class is flexible. She'll either lecture a powerpoint on a new topic or you'll spend class time on a coding assignment. Be prepared for random coding assignments each week, you'll never know. Couple quizzes but relatively easy if you use the resources provided. No tests, you're mostly graded on your coding assignments with specific outlines.
Prof Wilson is nice and is willing to offer clarification on piazza. I thought the class was fairly easy with the use piazza to get clarification on assignments. Youll be doing some resume building, a 4 year course map, and submitting a few questions each week for class. Not a lot of work and not super hard Id say.
Pros: Good lectures organized as a Q&A panel with other profs. Extremely easy class Cons: Extremely braindead assignments, nearing complete tedium. Most assignments boil down to a resume or roadmap with some arbitrary addition. Not a whole lot of benefit gained by me. Verdict: Take for a really easy, really boring A.
She is SO kind and is always willing to help. For this class, it is the easiest A ever but it has a lot of busy work and pointless assignments. Participation matters because of the engagement and attendance grade. Assignments are super easy but also VERY vague (instructions are literally 2 sentences), but she is happily willing to answer questions.
Class is basically a seminar class. I goal of this class is to help you be knowledgeable the future such as resumes, interviews, etc. But i feel like its stuff we already know. Class was super easy. Lectures and panels were pretty good. Preceptor meetings were not well thought out, but most of the time was only like 10-30 min long.
An enthusiastic teacher with a professional nature and regimen set in her classroom, whether it be online or in-person, and will always help and interact with students. One of the best teachers to make a rapport with, she is very resourceful and well connected in the industry so she will help you procure internships and research opportunities.
You will probably be taking this class as a CS major, and Dr. Wilson is a fine teacher. The assignments are weekly and are a bit tedious, but otherwise okay. Class is lacking in substance, but I feel like it helped me better understand what is to come later on in college.
Not much teaching involved. Meetings were always with someone new brought in, but they were very fun and engaging. She is a very nice professor who loves to interact with her students. A lot of the assignments help you understand what you really want to do in the future with your CS career. A lot is self explanatory and easy assignments.
This professor never responded to emails and was consistently not available for students. Way too many assignments especially with it being online.
Super rude, doesn't care about students. Definitely a high horse professor that doesn't really do much except taking attendance while other people do presentations for her class that you can also attend on your own time if you really wanted to.
Dr. Wilson is a great professor for 1213. It's not an easy class workload-wise by any means, but she offers every opportunity for learning, she is available for office hours, she is very understanding. She offers extra credit on labs. I could not recommend her more for 1213.
Easy class, super fun professor! Attendance matters though, so show up! She really wanted to help the students and she is really friendly. Always down to get to know us. The class itself is really easy, not much work. Mainly guest lecturers come talk to us about the computer science life after graduation. Helpful for the future.
Dr. Wilson was the best. The class is easy, you show up to classes and learn a lot about the resources that are available for the CCI students. It was also a great opportunity to network with guest speakers every single lecture.
I had Dr. Wilson for ITSC 2600 Computing Professionals. She was very kind to her students. She didn't do much during lecture besides let guest speakers (typically UNCC CCI faculty) give their presentations. The lectures themselves had very little to do with the assignments.
Dr. Wilson is nice and funny, but ITSC2600 is not useful. Posts online quiz questions at the beginning and end of class, but you don't have to watch the class to get the answers. Assignments are almost too easy and if you are anything above a freshman, this class will most likely not teach you anything. (Resumes/master's/college programs/etc...)
I liked her for this class because it's super easy. Not sure how she's like for programming classes though, I heard it's not the best. For this class she gave students helpful and valuable information. It was just a PowerPoint presentation class through Zoom and you only had to be there for the attendance Poll Everywhere. Pretty easy assignments.
Dr. Wilson is extremely nice and really wants to set her students up for success. She tried to bring in a variety of speakers in order to expose students to as many facets of CS as possible. It was actually a great opportunity to network with industry professionals and some even got internship offers.
Basically, she will bring a speaker every week, and you must attend all class. Attendance is very important. I personally, found the class very boring. Easy A tho. I don't know if she did this to all students or not, but at the end of the semester she out of the blue gave me 100% in the three major assignments.
This class was the biggest waste of time. You do not do anything in this class but listen to people that will bore you to death about something not worth your time when you could be studying or doing something more important for another class. Attendance is graded by pollev so I stopped going and had an A in attendance. Do the work and you'll pass.
Dr. Wilson is great for 1212. Good lectures. Class was interesting and never boring. The grading criteria for class is very clear, and the bonus options for labs and projects make it easy to get extra credit. Its not hard to do well in this class if you read the CS Awesome textbook carefully so that you understand the concepts.
Very hands off for the online 3135 class. I don't recommend if you are someone who has difficulty learning online. However this class was simple enough to where I could do the work, ***READ THE BOOK*** it was a lifesaver and I saw that many didn't even bother which left them clueless.
if it wasn't for her TA's then the class would be worthless. expect not a lot of feedback, and not a lot of instruction from her. a lot of assignments and extra credit opportunities. not a lot of slack from her even though its a beginner itsc class.
Didn't have any interesting or engaging elements to the class. Each class would just be either reading off of a slideshow, or completing PollEverywhere. Our class was set up into groups too so it would've been nice to have activities or something to work with our tablemates. Was very unengaging and felt unnecessarily slow.
She is the worst, she makes every student seem so dumb and not capable of anything definitely don't take course if you want an easy A poll questions every week and class lectures not that helpful
awful and very hard headed
Dr. Wilson is a nice and sweet person. The class was difficult for me because I did not have any prior knowledge of codding. In a way, the department kind of expects you to have some knowledge of it.Tests were difficult. My TA's were amazing, though.Try your best to complete your labs/projects during lab hours with help from TA. Don't procrastinate
She's a cool person and I enjoyed the class. Attendance wasn't mandatory and the online textbook was free. Tests were challenging. Projects and labs got tedious but were manageable. This was my first time coding but she made the class feel welcoming for beginners.
Professor Wilson really cares for her students and leaves room for concerns from students during and after her classes. She has an easy to understand course layout on canvas and the grading criteria is very clear so you know what you need to prioritize. Lab sessions are very useful as there are two TA's ready to help you work through your problems.
This class was super hard but it's not her fault, learning web design with 0 prior experience is gonna be painful no matter the professor. You NEED the textbook. ~2 assignments per week, semester-long website project, and a final on lockdown browser. You do HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery. Assignments are difficult but not impossible.-
Her lectures are terrible and her ta's do most of the work for her. Luckily it's just an intro class so a good professor isn't necessary. She'll constantly threaten you with a "acedemic integrity violation", which gets old very fast. Try to find another professor, if you can't just know you'll be teaching yourself everything.
Dale-Marie Wilson is a great professor and person all around. If you go to class and engage it is very easy. The prep work can be turned in late. No textbooks to purchase. Once you get the hang of her schedule and how she does her tests and assignments it is very easy and predictable.
Didn't even bother to show up to class somedays. Can't really remember any meaningful piece of information she gave over the entire course, the TA's do most of the heavy lifting and are there to help if you need them. Just know that you'll be expected to learn and do a lot of the work on your own, which isn't too difficult.
She's ok. Attending class is only mandatory because there are in person assignments. Her lectures are inoffensive but doesn't teach you really. Class isn't necessarily difficult, just attend class and go to the lab sessions and you should do fine.
Class consists of doing prepwork (or bookwork) over the weekend, and reinforcing those topics in class. She doesn't do as good of a job as my 1212 professor, the lectures are kind of dry and there isn't much class involvement. When no one answers questions she just waits until someone answers. After the lectures there are group workshop activities
I enjoyed Dr. Wilson's class. She offers a lot of extra credit opportunities, usually in the form of bonuses on the quizzes and projects, and her class is not *too* difficult if you are willing to learn fast. She's a bit scatterbrained, and that is hard to deal with, but generally speaking she teaches well and I learned a lot in her class.
1213 is a hard class - much more difficult than 1212. I had Dr. Wilson for both classes. Be sure to complete the prep-work and start projects early so you have time to meet with the TA's or Dr. Wilson if needed. The in-class labs are difficult so completing the prep-work is a must! Speak to her after class - She is very enjoyable to talk to.
She's a great professor but she can be very tough, just study and get any prep work done before cause its a pain if you don't
Overall the class was great, this is a flipped classroom course which means you read the material prior to coming to class. She cares about your grade, overall this class is fairly easy but I wish the lectures were a bit more indepth. The TA,s do the heavy lifting helping students with projects, etc. Has group activities in class which is good.
Definitely a kind teacher, but lectures aren't incredibly useful, especially if you do the prep work. I feel like there was the potential to learn so much more, but it's an intro class and does lay some very helpful foundational blocks. TAs are usually willing to help!
Not a fan of her overall, lots of outside of class self learning. Her lectures are incredibly boring and unengaging for a flipped classroom. TA's are your best friend, and most of them are alright. Coding portion of tests are nothing like the studyguide, but class is moslty graded by projects, not tests so not too much to worry about.
The course is fairly easy, personally I don't think there is enough rigor in it. It is a flipped classroom and the lectures are very minimal. But the overall course isn't great and not very indepth, it is a very shallow look at dsa topic. The TAs are very helpful if you need it.
Her class is a flipper classroom so she doesn't teach in class, just review on pollEV which is a grade. Has 5 projects, 4 in class quizzes(30%) - multiple choice 12; coding - 18. 2 at home(10%) - multiple choice, lockdown browser without camera. Class is honestly easy just basics of coding, if you took CSA in high school thats the first unit of 4.
I think she did her job pretty well and she was a pretty nice teacher. I think her lectures could have been a bit more engaging but she still did a good job teaching the material. If you take this class you need to pay attention and do the pre-work or you will not do well. The one thing I will say is sometimes she doesn't respond to your emails.
She grades heavy on tests, NO ROUND UPS for grades (89.9% is a B). No extra/partial credit on tests. Tons of videos and readings. Focused on people cheating instead of helping. Barely answers questions or emails.
Barely any explanation of the actual concepts covered. It was all covered by online videos of another professor that is barely understood. Class was all poll quizzes that count for accuracy and then you're on your own doing projects/homework. No rounding up at all even if you had 89.5(my case) Don't take…..
Lectures are fine, just pay attention. 5 projects that are actually really easy. Tests were not bad if you studied. There are a lot of assignments/prep works but nothing bad.
A flipped classroom with prep work required, but lectures can be dry. The TAs are key - they provide great support. Leverage Unstuck ai and other study tools to excel. Overall, a manageable intro class.
Dr. Wilson is tough but a great professor. If you need help, she will help by visiting her office hours; she does wear many hats in her position; however, she will find a way to keep you on track. Dr. Wilson with the poll quizzes is a lot, and its mandatory you come to class. Exams on lockdown browser, and dont ever get caught copying her code!!!!!
Terrible. Time wasted in class forcing participation, no real study material for tests, no learning material(she posts two videos at the start of the week made by another professor) never reviews this material in class. Tests contain content never seen or discussed in class. TA's making a fraction of her salary are more beneficial to my learning.
