Dale is a great professor. I e really enjoyed his class so far. He is very knowledgeable about archaeology and he makes the class a lot of fun. He gives tons of opportunities for extra credit too which is really nice!

Always going to bring your mood up. Always excited to go to his class because he is a funny and outgoing teacher that will talk to every student.

Hes a good person at heart, you can tell that he really has a passion for anthropology. All I would say is he uses zoom a lot to go on archaeological sites to get us to see what really goes on in the field, but I don't find these helpful. I think if he did this once in a while it would be great, but it's basically almost every class.

In this course it is very different from other classes. He has a lot of zoom classes to show many different sites around the midwest. In the class you will see how much passion he has for this class. Other good things about the professor is that he has been all around the world and has worked for many top tier projects giving him a lot of knowledge

This is a different style of class, both being in person and also online through ZOOM calls. Being in person with Mr. Simpson makes you want to be in class. He is full of energy, passion, and ideas that he shares with all of us through his lectures as-well as his personal stories and experiences. When online he takes you to many different places

Dale is amazing!!! I hope that he stays at NCC, he really cares about his students and creates amazing opportunities. With Covid, his class has been hard to be engaged. He is lecture heavy with Q&A's at the end of the class. If it was in-person it would be better but he runs the classes in a hybrid set up. (Make sure to study for the tests)

He is great, off topic from what this course used to be on, it was best described to me by another student, he uses 4 classes for his passion and gets through the needed material. His structure is great for those who can keep them selves accountable with a busy life, a little rocky for those who need more deadlines. But still is so nice and caring!

A very passionate professor. He is always excited to teach and help you get involved with anthropology on a deeper level. The course itself is not too difficult as long as you stay on task and complete your work. He gives you a lot of independence on due dates so you can complete the course as you need!

Dale is the most energetic and passionate professor I've ever had. Class is always so interesting, but is sometimes hard to follow along with on Blackboard. However, he always responded quickly to emails, answered all my questions when I was confused, and had a lot of extra credit opportunities to bring my grade back up.

It is a lot of material for a 100 level course. There were x-credit opportunities but there's lengthy disc. posts, 2 papers, 4 tests, 5 1.5 spaced pgs of notes per module (there are 4), 3 labs. I really liked him, I hope to take another class but that was a lot of work for, again, a 100 level class not even private to majors-only.

Dale is a great professor and very passionate about what he does. This is one of the few classes I can say that I learned lots of new things, even if it does not pertain to my major. Dale provides lots of extra credit opportunities for students and is very caring. Be ready to read and pay attention, tests are hard!

Dale is a great guy who takes his students' feedback seriously. A few notes about this class: textbook initially assigned by previous prof (left NCC). Dale's first time with this class so he had to take what was given to him. I like his "from the field" virtual classes. Lots of extra credit. Two term papers, should be broken up into smaller pieces.

For their first class at NCC and having to use the text from the previous prof. that left NCC he adapted very well. Listened to concerns and comments from his students and respected that students sometimes have other more pressing issues than doing hw some nights by having due dates extend the whole semester. He does a great job of making the most mundane topics interesting. If you are ambivalent about anthropology, TAKE HIS CLASS. Tests were easy, make sure to be on top of the research paper, labs were kinda rushed, but there was time after class where you could complete it. He's also very accommodating of any missed labs.

Dale is a professor who seems genuinely interested in teaching, also has some humor. Talks a lot during classes but makes you keep focus. Could maybe try to engage the class more. Doing labs where you learn a lot and get some easy points.

Dr. Dale Simpson is a 10/10 human being and is truly passionate about teaching and continuing his own learning of the people of the past. It was his first year at NCC, so some things were a bit hectic at times. Overall, I enjoyed this class, and it was a good experience. I think he will continue to improve as he gets used to NCC.

Dale is an amazing person, he understands people are human and gives people a chance to correct mistakes. His Points grading system is incredibly straight forward and his use of blackboard is great. My only real complaint is that honestly the class feels to easy for its own good. It is incredibly possible to do the entire class in 2 weeks.

Dr. Dale Simpson is new to North Central College. He made his expectations for the Stones and Bones Class very clear from the very first day of class. He is always available outside of class if you need help or if you have any questions about the lectures; however, tests are difficult if you don't pay attention to lectures or read the text book.

Hes will help you get through, including all kinds of e.c. but you have to work for it. you will be treated like an adult, not an ant maj. I find that his enthusiasm encouraged me and was ultimately contagious and sparked something in me. He embodies what he teaches, learn from mistakes & adapt. his next class will be better bc of this.

Professor Dale is one of my favorite teachers as he is a mix of funny, but also is a teacher that makes you work for your grade. The papers for the class do take a lot of work, but he helps guide you through in order to get a good grade if you put the work into it.

He is such a joy and makes me wish I didn't take this class for a gen. ed. so I could have him more often! The class is definitely a bit difficult but he makes it doable and helps so much. I looked forward to his class all the time! He genuinely cares about his students so much

Im leaving this review as a student worker/intern. Professor Simpson is super approachable and easy to work with. This is my first student worker/intern position and hes made it a dream. He has high expectations, but as long as you keep an open communication with him and use common sense itll be a breeze.

Get used to his style you will be fine, he works in a very understandable way but no system at all like you have ever seen before. the system works but you really have to be open-minded to how the system itself works. This man cares for you and is very funny. Knows his stuff. But can sometimes be overbearing lol.

Professor dale was very caring towards his students. One of the few professors who genuinely wanted you to learn and succeed in his class. He did a great job lecturing and keeping us learning

Dale was a nice guy and good lecturer, but a lot of work was involved in the course. He did provide a LOT of extra credit opportunities. Labs were pretty easy but you will pretty much get full points if you do it. The final is take-home, which was nice. We did have a 3000-4000 word term paper, which was a lot of work.

Dr. Dale is so clear about the topics he discusses during lectures and he is so passionate about everything we talk about that it draws you into them even more. He makes this seemingly boring class extremely fun, and he always makes sure we know absolutely everything we need to know for us to pass the class.

I don't think I've met anyone that's as passionate about anything as he is about anthropology and archaeology. His passion made the class really engaging. He also always emphasized that he was accessible outside class.

Professor Simpson is someone who is clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter he teaches, and he cares a lot about his students even outside of the classroom. He has very high expectations for everyone, and his class can be very overwhelming, but if you take good notes and ask for help when necessary, you'll be alright.

Very kind, passionate professor. However, the amount of work is a lot and he is a very tough grader with no feedback available on the assignments- also a lot of spontaneity and this includes homework assignments and extra credit opportunities so it's generally a balanced experience aside from all the papers. So many papers. Tests are no easier.

He chill but lowkey make sure you listen to him talk and the videos in class because he has test questions on it.

Dr. Simpson himself is a nice guy who is genuinely interested in Anthropology, and is very considerate of his students mental health. Saying that I want you to know that his class is difficult if you don't know what to expect. All the readings are available online but taking notes is good for your test grades and can be used for extra credit

Dale is awesome, seriously such a good guy. His class structure is very different. Almost everything is due at the end. He gives a lot of opportunities to get a good grade. I did not take advantage of much because they all involved a lot of writing and I did not want to type that much for extra credit. I should get an A in this class btw

This class was a little difficult, and required a good amount of studying because I wasn't the best at the subject, but the Professor was absolutely amazing. Prof. Dale Simpson always has the best things to say, he is hilarious, and he made sure that he was always there for his students for whatever they needed. I felt very heard and appreciated.

Prof Dale is an amazing person + teacher, and one of my favorite professors at NCC. He is very flexible + helpful when it comes to papers (there's really not much hw at all!). I am horrible with procrastinating. He began the semester saying he was flexible on deadlines for assignments, accepting them until a certain date. Love the flexibility, but I need strict deadlines. AMAZING human, encouraging, and makes class fun! Not my major but loved the class! Would rather stay up for 3 days working than let Dr. Simpson down.

Professor is super interested in the subject and you can tell, lectures can get a bit monotonous sometimes but still overall enjoyable class.

I took anthropology because I was interested in it and ended up finding it really interesting and learning a lot of new things. Dale has many stories and has lots of experience in the field. His lectures offer little student participation. He is easily one of my favorite professors and will always be available if you have any questions or concerns.

Class is harder than any 100s level class should be. THAT BEING SAID, Dale is a great guy. He checks in and makes sure you're doing ok in all aspects of life. He offers so much extra credit and everything for the class is due at the end of the semester. His lectures are lengthy but he has videos to show too. Labs are fast paced but pretty easy.

He has online tests where he makes up the questions in order to reduce cheating, but the test is open book and you can use anything on it. The class is easy if you follow the lectures.

He utilizes a variety of teaching methods effectively. My critique of the class was that at the introductory level it felt like the material was much more in depth than I had expected.

Dale has been the most engaging professor I have had so far at NCC, his passion for the subject of anthropology and his enthusiasm ooze into every lecture that he gives. I did not think much going into ANTH165 but nearing the peak of it, I would say he made the class exceedingly more exciting and engaging than I would think possible.

Overall Dale was an amazing professor. He was super kind and very supportive and caring. Sometimes I had to miss class for personal reasons but he never minded and always put school after those more important things. A decent bit of work is given for a level 100 class but that is really my only complaint. Even then though it is not too crazy.

If you're having trouble or need to miss a day, he is incredibly understanding and supportive. While the class is very material-heavy, it's all due at the end of the semester, so you can take your time on an assignment.

Having all the assignments due at the end of the course is a blessing and a curse, so don't procrastinate on them like I did. The assignments can be a bit lengthy for a 100 level class, but it is only because he cares deeply about the material he is teaching.

One of the more chill Professors. He was very aware of his students life as he knew we get overwhelmed by other assignments, therefore making everything due at the last day of class. Even if you do poorly on the exams, there is A TON of extra credit available to do. He was very enthusiastic in every lecture as he does enjoy his profession.

He offers a ton of extra credit. You do need a textbook and the chapters are long but make sure you read them because the information is on the tests.

Dale was honestly a great teacher, at first when it breaks down the work on the first day of classes it makes you nervous. He explains how many points are needed the the work but, I promise the class is fun throughout the whole semester. I, definitely would take him again!

To address other comments, Dr. S does sometimes treat this class as a 300-level class, but as long as you do what is expected, you're good. He has lots of extra credit assignments so don't worry about one slip-up. Overall he really cares. He's firm but fair in a "tough love" sort of way, 10/10.
