She is kind and funny and does her best to be as thorough as possible. She has a lot of experience and knowledge so she would use real examples related to the material. If she noticed students struggling, she would offer other alternatives or examples to learn from. She is accessible outside of class if you need help or clarification on anything.
I took Ms. Pierce for an online accounting class and found it pretty much a waste of time. Her only "teaching" was to direct us to a few videos. Besides being slow to grade, she does not return tests. Her grading methods are highly subjective (for accounting!), so you have no idea why you got the grade you did. I would definitely recommend her.
I took her online class this semester. She provides videos, notes, powerpoints, etc. It was hard taking this online but I spent a lot of time reading the book and watching her videos. Some of the other students were emailing all of us trying to rally us against her but I am not sure what else she could have provided. You just have to do the work!
I switched my major to accounting because of how much I enjoyed her class. She really goes above and beyond. She is always willing to meet outside of class time. She responds quickly and really cares about our success. I am signed up for her next class.
Dallas Pierce is an amazing accounting professor!
Fun teacher but the tests were extremely hard. What she teaches you on the slide shows and on Wiley will not line up with the test and will confuse you. She changes the wording on the test to confuse you, which felt unfair. Does not reply to emails on time. you will only understand what u learn during class not outside because it looks different.
She makes accounting easy to understand. Everything that is on the test is almost identical to what we do in class. The only difference is the names and the numbers. Definitely go to class and you will do well.
If you take this professor be warned. she is by far one of the hardest teachers I've ever had. you barely get any information out of her. if you have a question, you get referred to the book. she clearly doesn't care about your time and only wants the money. trust me, take accounting somewhere else. NOT WITH HER :)
This professor is kind to students and is fair with grades. Accounting is a VERY difficult subject so study and ask questions! Dallas gives out as many resources as possible and she's noticed that online students struggle more than her in-person classes so taking her class in person is recommended. She gives good feedback on what needs improvement.
I don't think this was a good course to take with professor Pierce; she was very tough on grading but didn't point you in the right direction to get the right answer. This is a very, very, very, and I mean a very hard course to take with her, or I don't know if it was the instructor herself, makes me think.
Pierce is a great professor. She does what she can to help you succeed and wants you to reach your goals. Very kind and accommodating prof, not many teachers have her patients. Accounting is a hard class use all your resources, tutors, textbook, etc ... In-person is recommended would never take this class online. Read your textbook from day one.-ks
Not a very good professor to learn from. I would not take her class again
I would not to take accounting with this professor, I think she does not teach the information well enough.
Her tests were so hard and she was a TOUGH grader. I think a lot of people take accounting because it is a requirement for a business degree; She was grading as if we were all going to become accountants and needed to know this information like the back of our hands. By far my least favorite class I have ever taken... many tears were shed:')
This class was almost impossible. I'm an A student in every other class. THIS IS THE ONLY CLASS that I failed if I had not withdrawn. She does not respond, grades harsh and does not give feedback to improve, just tells you to look at the textbook. Accounting is fun, but not with this professor.
It was not possible to reach the professor as I waited 2 weeks before getting a response saying they cannot help me with the course material. I normally dont write these but this time thought giving someone a heads up could save them a course. I had to drop the course since the course material did not make any sense and the professor wasn't helpful
Through my time taking this class I have emailed her on multiple occasions to understand the curriculum better. Office Hours werent given for online class and emails were replied with vague instructions. I did assignments on time, went above and beyond, yet always got low grades and I would've been ok with that if she actually put in effort to help.
Class ends this week and I have an A. Almost 100%. This class was not hard. She has a bunch of videos and notes. Her office hours are in her syllabus. I met with her several times. She always responded to my emails. This is my second class with her and everything is laid out clearly. I am signed up for a third class with her in the spring.
Professor Pierce is great. Accounting is a very difficult course but she makes it easier to deal with. Exams are heavy but whatever you put into this class, you will get out of it! Professor Pierce is accessible, responsible, fair, kind, & encouraging to her students. 10/10 will recommend.
I absolutely loved having professor Pierce for Accounting Principles I and II, however, this class is very difficult. I recommend taking it in person, you will have a much better experience. Professor Pierce is caring, patient and very helpful if you take the time to reach out and let her know how you are doing or what you have questions about.
This is my second class with Professor Pierce. Her classes are well organized and she is always there to help. Accounting isn't the most fun subject but we always end up laughing and having fun while learning. The class itself is not easy, but if you show up and put in the effort you will do great.
Very hard class, she teaches it very well though.
Lectures are important. There's plenty of material at your disposal. Tests are a lot, but it is easy to prep. She is a wonderful teacher and is helpful and responsive to questions and concerns. You do need to take initiative as a student; otherwise, you will fall behind. Wiley is sometimes an unpleasant platform, but that is out of her control.
1022 is a different flavor than 1021. Material is not as cohesive as 1021's. Nonetheless, Pierce does well to be helpful, teach well, and provide plenty of resources. Everything you need is somewhere. Tests can be a lot, but there are many resources. Projects are tough, but it is good to be challenged. Be nice, they're made from scratch every time.
Difficult course but overall very easy to pick up. Participation matters toward understanding the concepts but not towards overall grade. Work hard and your grade will reflect that. Firm but fair.
Great profesor
I struggle with the material in this class quite a bit, as it's a heavy workload and a lot of information. However, Professor Pierce takes the time to meet outside class if you are having any troubles and does her best to make sure the students understand it. Definitely goes the extra mile. Great professor.
Class is difficult but Dallas is a good teacher. Shes fun and engaging in class as well. Test do count for a large portion of the grade.
The professor clearly states her expectations and what will happen for the class. The more you spend time in lectures as well as read the textbook outside of the class, the better you will do. Always do the extra credit. They seem like more work than the actual homework, but if you don't read the textbook, you will need those extra points.
Professor Dallas Pierce made this class fun and related the topics to current events so we would better understand the material. As a person who struggled in this class, the Professor really helped me understand and be more successful in order to pass.
The class itself is hard but Prof. Pierce does an awesome job of making it fun and showing how the processes are done. The class was always laughing and learning. She follows the syllabus, so you always know when assignments are due.
There was ample opportunity for extra credit, but this did not only grant bonus points where there was none it also helped by giving extra practical application of the lessons we learned about in class/ the book. Do your extra credit people!
To understand the textbook, you will need to show up to class! She breaks it down for you to understand better. Read the chapter before showing up to class, and when you go to class, she teaches the material to help you better understand. She is a wonderful teacher with a wonderful personality! You won't regret taking her class.
Professor is very approachable and understanding. Grading is fair but effort is required. You get what you give. Tests make up a large portion of the grade so make time to study and practice and memorize the process. Would highly recommend this professor as they are very knowledgeable and have fun lectures.
She is a good teacher and will assist if asked. Has extra work outside of class and will not always respond to emails in a timely manner. Friendly and has fun every class.
Professor is extremely approachable and caring. She explains the material really well. She will have you work through questions to get the answers so you understand what is happening. Be prepared to spend several hours every week reading and studying.
The class is meaning the content is hard if you do not put the time and effort into it. She does a great job of explaining and show examples of whatever chapter we are going over. I would take this class in person. I feel you get a lot more out of the in person lectures. She is funny and makes accounting tailorable.
The professor is great, but the class is challenging.
I really loved this professor, She's very nice, funny, and laid out a clear outline for the school year. However, she is pretty strict about deadlines.
Very caring for her students if you put in
Ms. Pierce is a great teacher overall. Accounting is very challenging and takes lots of study and effort to do well in this class but Ms. Pierce was very caring and helpful to prepare us as much as possible. She has a really good sense of humor to keep the mood light but also gets serious and the tests/grading is hard so study and do all work.
Awesome Professor. Mediator to discussions and guides us so we find the answers to our own questions.
Ms. Pierce takes the time to break everything down and go over something till you get it. I am not great at accounting, but I passed because of how she works through the text. Highly recommend this professor! There are all laughs in her class room and I have had classes with her twice.
The hardest part was just learning it, she helped a lot tho with how one day we look through the textbook then the next we do the work together. It did feel a little rushed, but her knowledge of the subject helped a lot along with the extra credit that was given. Deffiently do the extra creidt all of it to help you.
The class was difficult but Professor Dallas made each lecture engaging.
Great professor - make sure you do all the homework before the tests and you'll ace the class!
She is a good professor just the class is difficult.
She gives out extra credit but it takes awhile to do. She does not respond to emails in a timely manner nor does she explain the material well. She goes off of the wiley program and pretty much reads off the slides for a whole hour. She does offer great resources though and does try helping when we don't understand something.
Mentioned bad reviews in class & offered EC to those who gave her a good review, so beware. The EC does take a while, DO IT. DO NOT RUSH IT EVER. Tests make up 50% of grade, there are NO retakes or makeups. Problems on the slides will be on test. Do everything that is assigned. She knows her stuff no doubt but this class is concept heavy.
She's great! You have to study a LOT!
Attendance is not mandatory and her lectures can be helpful, but I found the textbook more helpful for completing assignments.
Professor Pierce is very knowledgeable about her courses and does a great job of explaining martial. However, missing even one class can be detrimental. I would suggest be prepared to ask any questions in person because she is very difficult to reach via email, even during the week. She is also a very slow grader on papers and exams.
Very tough class, but i didn't take an accounting class for 2 years and still passed, so work hard
She is a fun professor that covers the material well and thoroughly. The course is difficult, but she makes it bearable.
Good class didn't take accounting class for 2 years and still hung in there to pass.
Professor Pierce is super entertaining and engaging, but this class is NOT easy. Highly recommend doing the extra credit and spending extra time with her lecture notes. Definitely one of those classes that you need to be present in class, even though there's no requirement to be in class.
In class lectures are fun and energetic. Nothing gets your brain going like partaking and interacting with the class. Going over the exercises was a huge help to class success.
Great teacher, learned a lot.
Overall great instructor.
Great professor!
Professor Dallas Pierce is an incredible professional! She explains material clearly and supports lectures with practical activities, making learning engaging and effective. Videos for each chapter and PowerPoint slides help to better understand the topics. Her course provides an excellent foundation for further accounting studies.
She is a great professor and gives you all of the tools you need to be successful in the class.
Accounting 1011 is a tough class. Prof Pierce was great at explaining the reasoning behind the principles and was able to connect the principles to real life situations. Prof Pierce was difficult to meet with outside of class time.
Prof. Pierce has 2 profiles. This is the 1 or 2nd semester PPCC offered the new ACC1011. Prof is well experienced in ACC with great lectures. Course is faster pace than expected, no buffer for canceled class. No flexibility on homework, its due Saturday. Writing assignments are bit ambiguous but overall great core class.
Dallas Pierce is a wealth of knowledge and her extensive background as a professor and business owner make her uniquely qualified to teach this class. Her lecture notes are awesome, they basically hold your hand (thank goodness) and break things down well. Read, participate, and do the extra credit. Pierce is a gem, PPSC is lucky!
Great teacher. Shes very knowledgeable and explains lectures well.
Great professor gives you all the tools to succeed.
The course material is difficult. Professor Pierce explains the concepts clearly and is very patient with students. She is focused on student success and always responds to students with kindness.
Prof. Pierce does an excellent job with lecture and skillfully designs a class that allows the student to practice material and effectively test with a focus on knowledge and understanding rather than just a grade. Participation and practice are key in her class. Prof. Pierce will take the time to explain any topic further intent on helping student
Great teacher! Lectures were extremely helpful because she was able to explain the concepts well. The format of the class was great. I liked how we went over the chapters and then did practice problems.
Professor is really good at teaching the subject. This is a really good professor if you want to take accounting seriously. This class covers a ton of super useful information, the class is very difficult and demands a lot of attention, however that is more of the accounting career path than it is the professor.
Ms. Pierce is overall a very knowledgeable, caring and good teacher. This is a very difficult class so be sure to do all the homework and study for the tests. This professor is very strict with late work and will give you a zero if you miss a test for any reason so be careful not to let that happen. She does give extra credit too so do it early on.
Such a great instructor. DO NOT take accounting online or with Breitbal. Take it with Pierce. If you miss class, you will not learn. She lectures one day with McGraw Hills PowerPoint, other day is going over problems in class with her. She is available online and in person for extra help. She really wants you and helps you succeed.
It's a challenging class but very passable. Dallas is dedicated to making sure you understand the material. Do all the work and the extra credit assignments, and you will be okay. Also, make sure you show up; this isn't a class you can miss.
She is a great professor! She's super funny. The class itself is very difficult and should be longer than an hour and fifteen minutes because there wasn't always enough time to go over everything in class.
This class was extermley difficult due to the HEAVY course material, there is sooo much to learn and memorize for each exam. BUT Dallas was great she is super funny and very helpful. The way she teaches is by asking questions. For example "ok but why do we do that what is the reason behind it". She is great!
She is my all time favorite professor. She is absolutely incredible and I would definitely take more classes with her even if I didn't care about the material or need the credit. The way she teaches is engaging, and she is also very understanding and wants her students to succeed. I love her and you can tell she cares about every student.
Accountings tough but she makes it passable
Good professor who cares about your success in class
Professor Pierce was a great instructor. She really broke everything down to help you understand what she was teaching you. Professor Pierce is really funny and knows how to keep you engaged in class. This was a great semester, a really tough and hard one, but still a great one.
In order to do well in her classes, I suggest taking advantage of all resources available, communicating with her, and participating in classes. It's easy to get lost and get behind, so stay on top of the syllabus and pay attention in class.
Professor Pierce will continue her lecture if you don't ask questions or clarify confusion points, so speak up! When you ask questions, she answers them and you'll get a better grasp of the concepts.
Prof. Pierce is incredibly knowledgeable in all chapters covered in this class. She provides lectures with slides and makes the curriculum very easy to understand. Extra credits are often times a reflection of exams, which are helpful if done the night before. I have done both ACC1011 and ACC1012 with Prof. Pierce and received A's in both.
Going through Managerial Accounting with Mrs. Pierce was an incredible journey. Her lectures are extremely engaging and she is caring and a fun teacher. She always tries to break things down for us in the best way possible as she is patient and aware of a lot of points of misunderstandings from the students POV.
She's a great professor. However, I feel like we aren't exactly taught what is on the test. Close to it but the wording almost always is quite different compared to how we are taught it.
The class can be difficult unless you attend. Doing the extra credit assignments will help you prepare for exams.
Vague grading criteria. Lectures always covered the homework material and the test material, I would take this professor again in another class.
In my opinion, this class was easier than Accounting 1011, and I understood much more of the material. Attendance is not mandatory, but she did give extra credit this past semester for those who took notes, so I would recommend going to class. The review days before test were also quite helpful so that is another reason to attend class.
I thought she was great at laying out expectations. While the subject matter can be difficult she is very knowledgeable about the material. She offers a lot of extra credit in case you do not do great on the test. Go to class because it definitely helps and read the book.
I have vision loss and asked her for help for work and she was less than helpful. Prepare to be docked over half your grade on certain exam questions for missing one indent in formatting, which is also next to impossible as she expects you to format sheets in just a text box instead of in Excel like real accounting should be. Gives zero feedback.
Great professor. She explains everything in a way that actually makes accounting make sense, even when the chapters get tough. She's organized, patient, and you can tell she genuinely cares about her students doing well. Her lectures are clear, her assignments are fair, and she's always willing to help if you ask.
This class is hard, but the prof is passionate and intelligent. She does lecture then application days. Do NOT miss the application days. They will help immensely with homework and on the exams, which this class is exam heavy. Do the extra credit!! The e/c can take your exam score from a C to a B+. This class requires lots of study time!
“Instructor Dallas was highly prepared and showed extensive knowledge in the Accounting field.”
Complex subject, but great professor. Take good notes, study, and do the extra credit.
Professor Pierce has a very well-structured course, where she teaches a concept and then leads the class through applying it. For example, she would teach what an income statement is, then teach you how to create one. This made the course predictable and easy to follow, which was very nice.
She really knows her material and explains concepts clearly. She makes class fun by keeping everyone engaged and asking questions as we go through lessons and during review. Her sense of humor and teaching style made learning a lot easier. I definitely recommend taking her class!
The learning atmosphere was perfect!
Pierce is very good at teaching, she takes her time with each individual concept and the application days where you go through problems step-by-step were beyond helpful for me. She REALLY tries to scare you though at the start of the semester. This class was not a breeze, but if you took prior accounting class, just lock in and you'll make it
The classes were organized well, each class we would sorta follow the same schedule. She has a good teaching style and is always checking to make sure everyone understands the work.
Great professor for a difficult class. Definitely wish we had more time in class to go over the material but that is far from her fault. The amount of homework is necessary and meant for learning the material. Just wish it was not so much at breakneck speed, especially if you are struggling or slower at learning the material than the class speed.
Avoid this professor if you have a learning disability. Request for assignment clarification - criticism, no actual clarification. Request to use an extra sheet of notes in exams - outright denied; she 'wants consistency for all students.' I have an accom. letter for memory¬es. 16.5% on an exam bc I submitted written answers once, not twice.
