Professor Bidleman is a great professor and you can tell he cares a lot about the students understanding the material. You do have to work hard in his class, but he is always available to help if you need it.
Professor Bidleman is such a great professor. He really cares about each one of his students and will help you understand the material anyway he can. Go to his office hours if you are confused because that helps so much. It is not easy material and you definitely have to work hard but if you put the work into his class you will do well.
Super great math teacher!! The material can be confusing at times, but If you go to his office hours he is more than willing to help you understand! I would take him again!
Great math teacher! He really does enjoy teaching math and really wants his students to succeed. I would defiantly recommend taking him for math 1120. You do have to study and put in some effort, but he is always there to help you.
A hard class, but a great professor. really wants you to leave the class knowing more than you did when you walked in and is willing to go above and beyond to make sure you understand the material.
i really liked him. the class is tough but he did a good job explaining material. he is not a tough grader and he cares about his students.
Mr. Bidleman is the best! Very good at explaining and understanding when he grades. Wants students to do well and is very personable. Would take him again 100%
I really enjoyed Mr. Bidleman's class. Calculus is no joke, and I found his class to be very challenging. Thankfully Mr. Bidleman was very supportive and really showed that he wanted his students to succeed in his class.
Professor Bidleman is a great professor. He really simplified the material and made sure that we understood what we were learning. He really cares about his students and wants them to do well. He always offers to meet with his students outside of class. Homework wasn't mandatory and his grading and tests were fair. Highly recommend him!
Very hard class. Not very good at explaining and notes are very scattered. Very nice professor too.
Professor Bidleman is a great professor who genuinely cares about his students' success. Before one of the harder tests of the year, he held a 3-hour study session and answered any question that was asked with much detail and examples. Im thinking the bad ratings on here are because this is a tough class, which has nothing to do with him. 10/10!!
Professor Bidleman is the best professor I have had during my time at Auburn. He is very easy to work with and really wants to see his students succeed; you just have to put in the effort to make it happen. He helped me realize that it is possible to do well in a math class. Cannot say enough good things about him!
Mr. Bidleman was an outstanding teacher. He is very easy to understand, and he communicates his content clearly. You need to take notes in class and do the quizzes before Fridays. It does not require much outside classwork if you pay attention and take good notes. Also, his graphic t-shirt game is unmatched.
This teacher was amazing and I enjoyed his class. he was understanding and wanted you to do well. he also gave you so much partial credit on exams they were hard to fail! love this class!
Professor Bidleman is by far one of my favorite professors at Auburn. The class itself is difficult, but if you attend office hours and study the material you learned in class a little each night you will be fine! He is available outside of class and responds to emails almost immediately. I would definitely recommend taking him if you can!!!!!!!!
Very hard class and material but he is such a helpful teacher. If you go to his office hours and ask for help he will help you so much and really wants his students to succeed. Would highly recommend taking him!!
Best TA out of any class or subject in Auburn. He wants everyone to succeed and does his best to try to help everyone do as best as possible in the course. He teaches different shortcuts to make the processes easier but also takes the time to show WHY you are doing what you are doing. Overall great guy.
Bidleman was great. I've never been a big math person but his class was clear, he posted the notes, and he did great with partial credit on exams. The class isn't easy but he also helps with study guides and drops low assignment grades. He does care about how you do, your confidence, and is willing to help via Zoom before most all exams.
While I found Dr. Bidleman to be witty and kind, I did find myself falling behind somewhat in class later in the semester. I probably should've put more effort in outside of class, I definitely underestimated the course. You have to complete these easy quizzes by every sunday night but I forgot MANY of those. Ask him for help if you need it!
I could not recommend taking this class enough! He is a great person and the class was pretty easy. Weekly homework assignments, 4 tests with lots of partial credit, and a final. Attendance is mandatory but is on iclicker. Overall, this class is a super easy A with an incredible teacher and I would highly recommend it
Mr. Bidleman is a great professor! He explains things very well and helps out a lot during office hours. If you need help outside of class and office hours, he sometimes host zoom meetings which is very helpful. Great personality!
I really enjoyed this class. I took Pre-cal in high school, so it was an easy class for me. He is very caring and always willing to help you. His tests are not bad, and he gives you plenty of reviews to prepare for them.
Dr. Bidleman's lectures were always straight-forward. It was obvious he knew his stuff and wanted us to succeed. He replaces one test grade with the final, but I'd still try your best every time. I didn't think I would get an A, but the final and the replacement really helped. He's super chill. Would definitely recommend. :)
Prof Bidleman is super good at math and a really good teacher. He spends a lot of time in class going over example problems which helped me a ton. He hosts zooms before exams which really help. His attendance is mandatory, but going to class especially his was extremely beneficial.
Dr. Bidleman is a nice guy and funny; however, as someone who had never had this class in high school, I struggled compared to people who had because his teaching was not the best. If you go to office hours and ask specific questions it helps but overall, he moves fast and skips steps.
Unless you are really good at math, or have a lot of time to dedicate I wouldn't recommend taking him. He goes really fast and jumps around a lot. Grade is only based off of test and the weekly quizzes, and he post his notes online. If I had enough time to dedicate to this class, realistically I could've ended up with a B, but I didn't.
Professor Bidleman is a caring professor and is always prepared to teach and doesn't waste time. If you are not much of a visual learner then he is for you. If you prefer a professor that walks through problems the entire lecture then Dr. Bidleman is not the best option.
The course itself is pretty easy, but Prof. Bidleman's lecture style wasn't my favorite. Regardless, he provides you with everything you need to pass if you do the homework and reviews. Attendance is taken every class and is a part of your final grade.
Bidleman was a good person- not a great professor though. For a math prof., he tries to write out everything he is saying, trying to explain the logic behind the math. I had to teach myself a LOT for each exam since he only does 1-2 example problems for each section. If you struggle with math I really don't recommend taking him.
Absolutely do not take him, had to teach it all to myself and he had the majority of the semester on zoom. I never understood anything and we barely had class, even on zoom he wouldnt even teach just work out the problem himself and not explain.
Love this guy. He is really nice and doesn't make things harder than they are. His exams are fair and he tells you what question type is going to be on it during review so if you do the review and the optional homework you are good. He is sick a lot though and it is basically an online class.
I highly recommend taking Professor Bidleman. On his notes, he explains how to do the math, which I find useful. He offers office hours, review sessions, and other various resources that are meant for you to succeed. Above all, he's relatable and cares deeply about how his students are performing, going as far to send polls throughout the semester.
Bidleman is one of my favorite professors here. He's gotten sick a few times but always made sure to either hold zoom or record the lecture material for us. You're graded off of 4-5 exams, short quizzes due every sunday, and attendance. He holds reviews before the exams, so if you study and show up/watch lectures you'll be set.
I highly recommend taking Bidleman! He easily explains things step by step and writes out how to do everything so you understand when you go back to the notes. He offers office hours, review sessions, and films videos outside of class going over practice problems closer to the tests. He really cares about his students and wants them to succeed.
His teaching style may not work for everyone, but you cannot deny that he really cares about helping his students succeed.
Biddleman cares a lot about his students, and wants them to succeed. However, his teaching style is absolutely not for everyone and certainly not for me. He tries to explain every single detail about a problem, often side tracking and making it more complicated than it is. Out of a 50 minute class there may only be 3 problems worked entirely.
I have always struggled with math. I took Dr. Bidleman in 2024 and he was such a caring teacher. If you have any questions he has so many open hours to talk and gives amazing feedback. He'll work with you in every way just to help you succeed and truly learn. You have to put effort forth obviously. 4 exams, 1 final, and quizzes make up your grade.
He's very helpful and gives lots of advice on what will be important to study for specific tests. Sometimes, we would do class on Zoom if he wasn't able to do it in person, and I preferred that over the physical lectures. He and his TAs have lots of office hours leading up to each test. If you do the reviews and go to class, you will do well.
I really enjoyed taking Bidleman class. He explains things step by step and writes out how to do everything, so you can go back to the notes. Having the zoom meeting videos to rewatch helps with studying. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed.
Our whole grade is based on 4 tests and a few online quizzes. In class, he goes over 2-3 problems and explain steps mostly with words instead of numbers. While some might like this teaching style, it didn't work well for me. I had to spend a lot of time outside of class figuring out what was going on.
I would not take Mr. Bidleman. He is a good person but not a good teacher. He explains subjects in a way that makes it more confusing for a student with strong math skills. I had to teach myself the subjects outside of class. Had class online so many times. Overall not happy with this class and teacher.
At the beginning of the semester with Bidleman I was pretty unimpressed with his teaching and overall approach, but as the semester progressed I adapted to his teaching style and improved. He's very accessible outside of class and always wants to set his students up for success.
easy class, but you HAVE to pay attention in class and do all of the practice, hes straight forward and makes it extremely clear whats going to be on the exam
Despite having classes on Zoom from time to time even though I signed up for an in-person class, Mr. Bidleman was very easy to contact outside of class and helped me extensively with questions I had about course material. While the content itself can be challenging at times, getting an A in this class is not hard if you apply yourself.
I really liked his teaching style. He doesn't make things overly complicated; he teaches exactly what's going to be on the exams. As he works out problems, he writes clear steps on how to do each one. His homework assignments are optional, but I would recommend doing at least some of the problems. The homework was a great study resource.
Definitely my favorite professor last semester. Funny guy, and its obvious that he wants you to make an A just as much as you do. Homework is optional, but its perfect for practice. Weekly quizzes due on Sunday that are open note and only 2-4 questions. He also posts reviews for each test, working each problem out and posting the recording. 10/10.
This professor waited until the last two weeks of class to fix the grading scale in canvas. This caused me to go from a passing grade to a failing grade. His notes are horrible, he doesn't speak loud enough in a lecture hall to hear him. Everything I have learned in that class I either taught to myself or learned it from recitation.
He is a nice guy but awful professor. He doesn't teach at all so you have to rely on the recitation leaders and mine was also awful and didn't teach. The graders did a terrible job and I got jipped for points I clearly earned. He is very easy to work with but poorly organized. You have to work double time to make up for his slack. Not a fair class!
Waited until the last 2 weeks to apply the correct grading scale. Lectures are basically useless as he does not use a microphone and his notes are hard to follow. You will have to teach yourself most of this class, but recitation is helpful. Tests are easy but not free, take Liatti if you can.
Use Professor V if you are in his class; she is the only reason I passed. His lectures suck he doesn't teach and only moves around a paper. but he is fair when it comes to exams, he just doesn't prepare you(you have to do it yourself). just watch videos during the lecture
His lectures really are terrible, you'll have to basically teach yourself as he doesn't actually do examples. He just talks ABOUT the math and doesn't TEACH the math if that makes sense. It's like if someone was supposed to lecture you about trees, and they just talked about how much they liked trees and then told you to do the homework.
I had Bidleman for linear algebra, he did a good job teaching the material and focusing on the important things. Was pretty down to earth and funny at times. Adjusted the grading a bit as we went along based on the class, which was nice. Would recommend for linear since its an easier/simpler class but might not recommend for calculus.
One of my worst teachers. He taught me Calc 2, and he made a very difficult subject even harder. He would only teach with words, and his handwriting is unreadable. I literally had to self-teach and watch videos to learn anything. Your TA is the only way you can pass his class. Only plus is that he drops the lowest exam grade.
Bidleman was a confusing man. Sometimes he did, in fact, teach us. The majority of the time, he did not. It felt as if he expected you to know a lot of the information before hand. There are 4 tests. He drops the lowest test, so it's not entirely impossible to get an A. You will be watching, self-teaching, and studying a lot.
Don't take this class. He barely teaches and doesn't explain the material at all. Constantly canceling class. You'd be better off with anyone else.
Honestly thought he was a likeable professor; an "outcast" from the cocky, vague math dept if you will. Linear algebra is easy, but his tests seem to make it harder than it is, and the fact that we have to "explain" things too. I'm not a fan of the notes considering that it pretty much yaps out stuff than actually showing HOW to do it. Irritating.
Overall, great professor and made the class very forgiving when it came to passing. It was his first time teaching linear algebra, so we had some changes halfway through, but he made sure that we were properly accommodated for each of the changes. Had five tests and the ability to choose to drop up to 2 of your lowest tests. 9/10 would take again
He styles his grading system to the class, the topics were relatively easy but his first test covered so much content and each question had multiple parts it was hard. After that test he switched to a test every few chapters meaning we had exams every other week but much easier content wise. He's honestly a cool teacher and cares.
For linear, he's pretty good. His grading scheme at the end of the semester was extremely helpful for the whole class and was tailored to help us individually but was also fair for everyone. He gave outlines for what was going to be on each exam, and it matched the exam. Lectures and notes were not as clear. Very chill and wants you to pass.
Honestly really hard teacher to follow. From being a strong math student, he made this class so confusing for no reason. Would not recommend at all.
Homework given on WebAssign, and he always curved the exams.
Very hard to follow during the lectures. Made some of the easy material seem more difficult than it was. He got a lot of the practice/example problems wrong and we even pointed them out during lectures. Stopped going halfway through the course and taught myself instead.
Makes Lectures MUCH more difficult than they need to be. Attendence mandatory. Tests are pretty easy, gives partial credit as much as possible. Once a week homework due on Sundays, sometimes time-consuming.
genuinely nobody is worse at teaching math. very hard to communicate with and just doesn't really care if you learn the material or not. does zoom review sessions and gets annoyed when you ask questions. worse grades than any other MATH 1120 teacher. avoid if possible
Chiller. Attendence is mandatory but you can show up with a doctors note and he won't care. Videos on everything though.
He is actually a really easy professor, always posts review videos and gives a ton of partial credit on exams. Exams are very easy, and the questions always follow the format of his notes. Homework is much harder than the actual tests. He is prone to cancelling class which is nice
He cancels class a lot.
He is a super chill guy however, his lectures are WAY harder than the actual content. He's horrible at explaining the content. He does not communicate well. He does cancel class a lot which is nice, and he gives extra credit on exams.
Math is normally the subject I am best at and the way he teaches genuinely confused me so much that I had to go home and teach myself. But super easy stuff to learn and the tests weren't too hard. He's a really nice guy and I'd take him again.
Sometimes he uses pre written notes and talks fast. But he makes extra practice videos every week and you can approach him.
Just follow the notes and watch the extra videos. Doesn't try to make the class hard.
His handwriting isn't great and he sometimes talks more than gives examples but makes extra practice videos with practice.
I have a really hard time with pre-cal, but he really does provide you with everything needed to succeed in the course. If you pay attention to lecture and utilize everything he puts out there, you should do just fine!
Explains everything so well. I am usually not a math student, but the videos and his notes are extremely helpful. The review videos cover everything on the tests, and the tests are easy. Amazing professor, definitely take his class.
Loved him. He is so funny and so good at explaining math. Homework due every week and attendance isn't mandatory but he gives you credit at the end of the semester for it.
A solid teacher, you show up, learn math, and then leave. He prioritizes making sure you know how to complete all problems in the easiest way and genuinely enjoys teaching.
do NOT take this class unless you are super good at math already. He teaches it in a super difficult way and I also cannot read his notes. He's kinda funny though
Gives a ton of helpful reviews before tests (optional but helpful), funny guy. Lectures are super helpful, not hard to sit through either. Easy class for real its like high school precal. Only downside is sloppy handwriting on his notes.
Dr Bidleman was a great teacher. He really wants to see his students succeed. He makes extra help videos to post on canvas to supplement the in class lectures. He is funny and very interesting. Overall, I would take his class again.
take this professor!!! bidleman made math enjoyable and always put in extra effort to make sure we had all the resources we needed to succeed. there are mastery assignments and an attendance grade that go along with the grades you get for exams. bidleman forever!!!
Overall, he's a pretty great teacher. His explanations in class are kind of confusing and his handwriting is pretty bad but he often does zoom videos which are very helpful when studying. He's a pretty lenient grader so would recommend
Dalton is an understanding guy. He always explains the topics thoroughly and keeps it real if a concept is gonna be difficult or will matter on the final. His tests aren't terrible and he always keeps his student's wellbeing in mind. He's a lenient grader and was absent several times, but he always provides review videos and zoom sessions.
He is a pretty cool and funny guy. For every lecture he will write his notes out in front of you and explain the problems. His handwriting is very difficult to read however. You must check in on Iclicker every class but he's very chill about you leaving afterwards. He would just read a book in the front of the room for every test.
