Dr. Kovacevic is a very enthusiastic teacher. The class is writing-intensive, but he's a fair grader who gives back good feedback. Show up and you will be fine.
Professor Kovacevic was very clear about his requirements. The class consists of a midterm, final, paper, and participation. Although he isn't a tough grader, you definitely need to do well on the exams and paper to get an A. Show up and do the reading and you'll be fine.
Dr. Kovacevic is very clear about expectations. He's easy to follow and tries to make the class more relatable with his examples. 3 exams and quizzes based on the readings and lectures.
He's very entertaining. As a non-major the subject matter can be dull, but he keeps it engaging.
Dr. K is great! Easy class, approachable professor and a fun class.
What a champ. This guy easily gains the respect of students because he treats them as adults and as his peers, not his subordinates. Frequently breaks lecture to make students laugh, even just for half a second.
He's very approachable and responds to emails quickly. He makes fun of his clothes (flannels) and himself a lot. Overall, it's a great into class to world politics from an instructor who really cares about students.
Damir is hilarious. There wasn't a class I didn't end up laughing. He only grades on quizzes and tests so make sure to do the readings. Coming to class helps to explain what the readings are about. Tests can be difficult because there are things not covered in class/reading and are general political knowledge.
Damir is one of the best professors I have had class with at the university. Lectures keep you engaged and he cares a lot about being inclusive and respectable. Loves hearing people's opinions and encourages you to share in class. Quizzes and exams are easy if you pay attention in lecture and study a little bit. Overall an amazing class and prof.
Damir is an amazing Professor. His lectures are fun and entertaining. If you show up to class and do the readings this class is extremely easy to do well in.
Dr. Kovacevic is a great professor. He assigns A LOT of readings, but you can pass with a B if you just attend lecture. Thankfully this semester he gave out a 10pt extra credit assignment that counted towards are exam grades. He also grades everything within the first few hours! Super knowledgable about the topic, I highly recommend.
Really funny great prof
Professor K is an amazing, caring and relatable professor who makes course material relatable. POLS-122 is a class only graded on a handful of exams (4) and quizzes (5). Professor K graded fast, was fair to students, and respected every student's opinion. Take this Prof for your LE or 300 level courses!
I absolutely love Dr. Damir's classes, I have mad an effort to take as many of his POLS classes as I can. His lectures are engaging and he is passionate about what he teaches. He is funny and makes learning more fun. He is the reason I added a political science minor because I wanted to take more of his classes.
Dr. K was an amazing professor, personally, I did not know much at all about World Politics, but my struggles with the course were due to my own neglect in doing the assigned readings, and not asking more questions in class. He really is one of the funniest professors I've had thus far at UWEC, and he really engages the class in his discussions.
Dr. Damir is an engaging instructor who would always find a way to make the material interesting. He likes it when you participate and will often push the class to engage in discussion during his lectures. He's also quick to respond to emails and is always around for office hours.
Damir is a fantastic professor and one I would definitely take again. He's engaging, funny, and genuinely seems to care about his students. Every class is a joy to be in, even if the material being covered isn't. With few assignments/tests, you'll need to study to do well but he doesn't try to trick you - everything is direct and to the point.
Damir is very funny and makes his lectures interesting. Attendance is mandatory, and is only graded on a few things. If you take good notes and study some you will be just fine.
Damir is by far one of the best and funniest professors I've ever had. I don't even like political science, but he made it so interesting! Lectures are super easy and the tests are easy as long as you do the readings (which isn't much). There's 5 quizzes and they're only 6 questions each- super easy!
Very fun an enthusiastic teacher. He knows what he's teaching and does a great job at conveying the information that needs to be learned. He also is very fun to interact with in general. A fantastic teacher.
DAMIR IS THE BEST! Damir keeps his lectures interesting and fun by his amazing personality. He is definitely the best prof I have ever had!
LOVE THIS MAN almost as much as I love my husband (haha, joking but not really joking ya know?) . So hilarious, if he ever gets fired he should be a stand up comedian. His tests are open ended so it's really nice. He's a super fair grader and literally reads your essay five times to make sure he's fair. Come to class it's fun, take notes.
I don't even know what to say, he's great, engaging, and truly cares about the subject matter. He loves telling stories and breaking lecture to lighten the mood. Do the reading, attend class, and you will be fine!
Professor communicates well with students and provides encouraging environment for student engagement. Encourages debate between differing opinions and maintains levity in classroom. Enjoyable lectures but papers were long and with often short time frames. Very understanding of outside circumstances inhibiting students.
Damir genuinely cares about his students and presents material in a straightforward manner. The class is composed of a lot of writing, but if you show up to class and study, the essay exams, quizzes, and paper are pretty easy.
Great professor. Very funny and engaging. His grading is reasonable and it is a very manageable class.
Lectures are great but sometimes he gets distracted but in a good way. VERY funny and entertaining. Sometimes quizzes and tests feel like the questions deviate from what you discussed in class or like you need to remember nonessential information for them. Overall a great class that teaches you about how the world works.
Professor Kovacevic is a great professor. Political Science is difficult, especially in the beginning. However, Damir explains the material very well. He also responds to emails and grades assignments very quickly. Highly recommend, especially if you've never taken a pols class before!
Damir is seriously the best professor I've ever had. Super helpful in and out of class. He uses books that aren't just regular textbooks and does a great job of explaining theories and concepts.
Super funny and awesome guy. Tough with grading though. Only about 5 things graded in the grade book so make them count. Tests are typically take home and do over the weekend but it is all essay questions. Solid choice just a lot of work.
Highly enjoyed Damir's class. He gives really good lectures and is a fair and quick grader. Make sure to participate, though. I lost a few points for that and it lowered my grade a little. Overall, very impressed with the class and I hope to have a class with Damir again in the future.
This class was asynchronous with prerecorded lectures but I still enjoyed it a lot. Damir is very funny and knows a lot about what he is teaching. In this class your grade is based off of 3 tests (open note), 2 essays, and weekly discussions. It is not too much work and he is an easy grader.
Professor Damir is probably my favorite professor at UW-Eau Claire. He is funny and relatable. He discusses topics plainly and really gets the main point across. I highly recommend you take at least one class with him, even as an elective. He is very unique and inspirational.
Damir was great. The class consists of 3 assignments, 2 exams, and participation. Do your work and you'll be fine. He grades fast and fair. He also tells very a lot of funny stories. Do take!
Dr. Kovacevic is a solid choice. He is funny, relatable and relaxed. He is knowledgeable about the material and while he clearly has his opinions, he does not push them on his students. He is fair and always respectful. Work is pretty light- weekly discussions and about 6 papers during the semester- the papers stink, but he is a pretty easy grader.
I really enjoyed this class and Damirs teaching style! Very clear lectures and grading. Lot of reading and writing but hes very entertaining. Would definitely recommend.
The best professor I've ever had. Easy grader, fun discussions, politically neutral in discussions. If you're conservative or liberal and are worried about a professor leaning one way or another, Damir is good at looking at both points of view when discussing a topic. He's also hilarious. Highly recommend.
Damir is very clear with expectations. The class consists of several written essays, participation, and quizzes, but he’s a quick and fair grader. Go to class, his lectures are great.
He is a very laidback and humorous professor who gives incredibly interesting lectures. The assignments aren't too bad, and the topics are interesting.
He's wonderful. I looked forward to each lecture and enjoyed the group quizzes. TAKE HIM!!
I've had Damir for two classes now and loved both of them. I despised writing his essays before they happened, however, they actually helped me improve my writing and learn more information than if I took a test. Super funny guy, makes lectures super interesting, and has a lot of knowledge about the topic. Grades kind of tough but fair
Overall a good professor, lecture heavy which can be dry (so remove all distractions). Grade is based on 4 essays, a final essay, your average pop quiz scores, and participation. Make sure you stay on top of due dates and the TIME its due (11:59 PM vs. 11:00 AM). If you stay on top of things and pay attention you won't have any issues.
Dr. Kovacevic is an amazing teacher. Each lecture is interesting and informative, and he keeps you engaged with stories. The class can be heavy on the reading and writing, but he's grading is very fair. Do the work and you can't get lower than a C.
Very funny! He really tries to make classes enjoyable and fun. In my class if you turned in an assignment you would never get below a C. He does grade participation closely you cannot just show up and get perfect participation, but it doesn't affect your grade too much. Definitely recommend taking poly sci with him.
Absolutely fantastic professor - my favorite at UWEC by a long shot. Would take 1000 more times if I could. Incredibly nice guy who is more than willing to help you along the way with the material and the assignments at any point for any reason. Made the complex material clear and interesting. If you can, take one of Dr. Kovacevic's classes.
Damir is great!! Even though the class is in a big lecture hall he took the time to learn every person's name and was extremely open and available for anyone who needed help or had questions. He makes the lectures interesting and relatable. He is also a very fair grader and gives good feedback on assignments.
Damir uses assignments you can work on outside of class, and does not use multiple choice exams. He is availible during office hours and by appointment. Lectures and participation are important to do well in his classes, although he is a reasonable grader.
Super passionate and educated on what he teaches and uses so many current examples to help deepen understanding. Very kind would definitely take again.
Kovacevic is a good professor and tried to make lectures relatable and fun. He would sometimes get outwardly frustrated with lack of student participation. You have to read chapters out of the textbook and then you will take a short quiz based on what you read. Also, the final exam is a huge multiple question essay that is time consuming.
Damir has clear expectations and his courses are organized well. He also grades quickly and fairly, and his lectures are enjoyable and informative. An excellent choice.
Damir was awesome. He's really funny and engages students with the lecture. The grades are mostly from papers, but just do them to your best and you'll be fine. He's a pretty easy grader and gives great feedback so you can improve on the next one. On the quizzes, I just skimmed the chapter and did fine. Would definitely take him again, he's great.
He's just great. Even for kids not majoring in political science. You won't regret taking his classes, I'm gonna try and get him as many times as possible in my 4 years.
Professor Damir is the best professor I have had! I took his class to fill and LE, with no interest in the subject, and he got me excited for the course! As long as you complete your work, you will do just fine in his class.
Amazing professor, one of my favorites. He is very interactive and makes the topic and lecture fun. He enjoys being there and teaching.
Damir is a great professor. All of the assignments are clearly laid out in the course outline, spaced out nicely throughout the semester so you won't have to stress. He gives great lectures with very clear notes so if you're paying attention in class, all of the quizzes are easy. He's also very chill and laid back.
One of the best professors ever, cares about the materials and his students. There's only a few assignments but as long as you put work into them you won't receive less than a C. He's very personable and will help you catch up if you are confused or miss anything.
funny and pretty easy save for the lit review
Do the readings and you'll be fine! I took this over Winterim -- in my experience, great grader, great feedback, no complaints.
I absolutely love Damir, he's a great professor who really cares about his students! His World Politics class is far better than the other options at UWEC, because he doesn't rely on standard Scantron tests to grade and instead grades based on essays he gives you ample time to complete. He also doesn't make you buy a $100 textbook!
I loved Damir because he was able to clearly present material and relate it in multiple ways back to you.
Kovacevic is a great professor. Gives answers to quiz questions, and grades very easily. Sets up his lectures in an easy to follow format and is enthusiastic about the material.
Damir is one of the best professors I have had at UWEC! His lectures are engaging and the structure of the course is clear. There is typically a chapter to read from the textbook each week and seven total chapter quizzes. There are also group discussions and written participation activities throughout the semester, so attendance is important.
Damir is one of the best professors I have had in my education experience. You can truly see that he cares about the information being taught, and that makes the class very easy to follow and engage with. He gives clear instructions for all assignments. He provides great feedback as to what to work on. Additionally, he grades everything promptly.
Damir is an amazing guy. You read about one chapter a week from the textbook, which he then lectures on in class. Seven quizzes throughout the semester, which are so easy as long as you paid attention in class.
The project seems overwhelming, but Damir breaks it down into manageable pieces. Do not be intimidated! He will guide you through the process and is a pretty easy grader.
Damir is an amazing prof, and really cares for his students. This class is 300 level, but he makes it seem so much easier with how well he teaches and breaks down the content. Overall, an easy course that will be a fun time for any foreign policy enthusiasts.
Kovacevic is a great professor! He is pretty funny and is passionate about the material and relates it to real-world examples. There is a quiz every other week and a midterm and final. Quizzes are easy as long as you pay attention and exams aren't too difficult. He is a nice and caring professor, and the class was pretty easy with him teaching.
Damir is a fantastic professor. The grading criteria is clear, the assignments are fair, and the Canvas page is nicely organized. There are a few assignments, but the lectures are super engaging. Take him!
Damir is an amazing professor! His lectures are really engaging. I appreciate how the schedule for the semester is clearly laid out in the syllabus. The quizzes aren't too bad and the written participation and group activities are great boosts to your grade. Read the textbook and attend lectures and you'll do great!
Loved this class! The textbook is necessary for the weekly quizzes, but most information will get covered in the lectures. Great lectures! The quizzes are not over challenging and on the big concepts. Be prepared for in-class activities that count toward participation but everything will be on the schedule. Loved his classes, highly recommend!
Damir is very demure. He cares about each student and has dad humor. The class is easy to pass and I didn't even read the textbook. He lectures every class and does participation points each class so if you skip you will lose points in the class. There is only 2 exams and they are very easy.
Damir is an amazing professor! I got placed in this class for an LE, but I am so glad that I got to take it. Damir makes the lectures very interesting and he is really funny. He does give a quiz every week but as long as you do the reading it's really easy! He makes this class enjoyable and easy to pass, highly recommend!
Professor Kovacevic makes anything he talks about fascinating. Being from Bosnia & Herzegonia (immigrating to the US as a kid), he has real-world experience on international relations. His compassion for his students is outstanding. He is very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions. Chapter readings are required for each unit (1 week).
A "take what you need" course. Workload was not challenging enough (I've known a lion's share of the material). Lectures were based on weekly readings. We had a midterm and a final which were both comprised of MCQ, 2-3 short answers and one essay. Damir jokes a lot and makes analogies to sports and family situations -- easy to understand.
Easy course if you do the assigned readings and attend lectures. The course consisted of weekly quizzes, two exams, and in class participation activities. Damir provides a study guide and a review session before the midterm and final.
I loved this course! Damir is so passionate about the material and truly cares about his students. The course is all in person, so you do need to attend to do well.
Damir always provided entertaining and informative lectures. If you show up, you will do well. Be sure to study major themes and concepts because that's where the majority of quiz and exam points come from.
Damir is a wonderful professor. He's clear about the grading criteria and his lectures are entertaining. Take him if you need a LE requirement!
He was kind and understanding. All of the quizes and exams are done in class, but for the most part he tells you what will be on them.
Damir is an amazing professor, as he's incredibly funny and relatable, and approachable, as a guy and prof. However, to combat AI he recently made all midterms and finals handwritten, which sucks, and this class' reading was tough, very long with too little usefulness. Still, he's a great Poli Sci prof, so take him!
Damir was transparent about all assignments and grading. The class work is mostly done in person, but as long as you read and attend, you will do fine. Recommend him always!
At times the course readings were stale and I wasn't a huge fan of in class exams, but Damir is one of a kind professor. Funny, engaging, caring, and always down to earth. I'm glad I took this course.
Damir is a great guy. I loved this class, and learned a lot due to the very interesting and applicable content. I found all expectations, quizzes, exams, and the pace of the class to be very fair. I wholeheartedly recommend Damir for this class and beyond.
Damir is clearly passionate about what he teaches. The class was enjoyable and easy to follow. Quizzes and exams make up the majority of your grade, but he does drop the two lowest quiz scores. A great class taught by a great guy.
