Great teacher!
He is wierd and he stinks
Strange guy. Starts every class off by dropping something onto a table. He quickly goes through problems without letting them absorb. When he realizes no one understands it, he just laughs and goes on.
Dr. Scott knows his stuff more than anyone else I know in Math, but dang, he is HARD!!
He was very confusing. For someone who already knew how to do a problem he would indeed confuse you. He is really weird. He often dropped stuff on the desk, pounded on the board, and stomped around the class.
When I had Scott two years ago, the first day of class he was talking about how he was Harry Potter. Somone needs to let up on that mans gas peddle. Id look down at my paper to write what he was saying and Id look back up and the board would be full.
The absolute weirdest teacher I have ever met. Oh yeah and his class was aweful. He enjoys confusing students. Acted as if he was a judge in the beginning of the class. I believe he has multiple personalities. Our whole class made <=D
Escapee from the psycho-ward. Made the simple problems seem difficult. I dropped his class after the 2nd day. Avoid at all costs! He is the result of being picked on in high-school.
straight ****! I HATE HIM!!!!!!!!!
A little on the socially slow side! You won't understand anything but math talk coming out of his mouth. I saw that he has music degrees. Hummm!
Very funny to watch him run across campus, but not good at explaining the work.
F.Y.I.: If you can stare at Dr. Scott, is he related to Alvin and the Chipmunks?
This man is a total crazy man! Do not get him wha so ever. He thinks he is God!
A math genious, but a social retard. His class was hard, but if you pay attention you can learn a lot.
I have had my fair share of bad math teachers, and he sure was one of the worst. He acts like he is too smart for you and won't help, he treats you like you're a retard. Granted he is a math genius, some people cannot teach, and he is one of them!!
His behavior is weird and makes funny sounds. I wonder if he has a genuine problem or is just strange. He makes up math words and sometimes his writing is too abbreviated. On the plus side he does offer retests and averages the two grades. Some homework is graded and is applied to your test grade.
do better
He's a lose! He uses all these complex statements to get a single basic point across! I strongly disrecommend him! All thumbs down!!!!!!!
He is really weird. He'll said or do odd things. He is an EXTREMELY smart math teacher, but he doesn't seem to be teacher oriented. Instead of helping you, he'll make you feel inferior and dumb. He doesn't get why we can't understand something so simple to him. I wouldn't reccomend him, but he shouldn't be blacklisted either.
Reeeeeeeeally weird guy. Wtf is with the strangeness? He acts/looks like a manic depressive chipmunk.
Explains stuff well, but not very approachable. he is very strict with his grading. And his tests are a little difficult. Did I mention how strange he is?
Dr.Scott is a strange individual. His test are sort of hard, he does not like seeing his students after class, and he does not make his lectures clear at ALL. He says he does not know how to do arithmitic..so he pulls out his calculator- he also treats everyone as if they were in the 2nd grade- he even has a gavel with a platform. That should say
Dr. Scott is the worst professor I have EVER had. He has no business being in a classroom. He does things in his lectures to confuse you on purpose. He never answers questions and is not willing to help you outside of class. DO NOT take this man's class. I don't care if you have to. Wait and get a different professor. Trust me!!! He is an ****.
Don't be put off by his oddness. He is a really good teacher, and he really, really wants to help each and every student. I went to his office for help, and he really helped me to understand the concepts. He was the most helpful professor ever.
I had Dr. Scott last year and even though most people think he is weird, he knows his stuff. He is very organized and you will never be surprised on his tests or homework. they are always set up exactly the same. It was not easy but he is a good teacher and i thought he was a teacher worth having.

Awful, awful, awful. Save yourself the time and the headache, don't take him!
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. Do not take him, his teaching techniques are all out of whack!! Do not waste your time!!!!
He is a geek and is crazy. But he also is a good teacher and he knows his stuff. You necessarily don't have to buy a book. All homework out the book is extra credit. He is a through teacher and if you stay on top of your game you can manage to pass. It is not hard you have to just have dedication on your end.
I did not like his class at all. Not only were most of his tests hard, but he didnt explain what was on it very well at ALL! Do not take him if you can help it. I made a D+ and I have never made under a B in any other math class.
I made an A in his class but that is thanks to my high school teachers. He is the worst teacher and has a nasty attitude. I dont recommend him to anyone that is not good in math because he explains math in a weird way but if you are good in math you can pass his class.
WARNING: DO NOT TAKE!!!! RUN!
he's terrible! please wait until somebody else is teaching a class you need to take him
He is a nerd who loves math! He explains it in a weird way but if you ask him to explain he will gladly explain. His test are not hard and it is mostly stuff from the graded homework. The lesson from the book help a lot if you dont really know what you are doing. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR WORK!! Over all he is a good teacher & it is a good class!
do the lessons and the homework and make sure you check your work
During lectures, he covers material that will not be on the test just to waste time. He complicates all material with big words that are not necessary to what we are learning. He makes math complicated. . . I had to teach myself every lesson. I had to pass final to pass the class and ended with a D. thank god its over. NOT RECOMMENDED
I found him easy, but that was because I'd already learned everything he taught in HS. I noticed several classsmates struggling though. He doesn't spend enough time on difficult material. If you are poor at math, don't take.
Dr. Scott is an interesting fellow. Extremely smart - too smart for himself. If you have him, be sure to do the lessons and graded homework. Always check your work and ask questions if you don't understand. Though he may unintentionally embarrass you, your questions will still be answered. Just do the necessary work and you'll get through it.
If math is not your best subject, i highly do not recommend this class. He is super smart and assumes that most people are as smart as him. If you have to take this class, i suggest you do all graded homework and lessons. And be sure to check your work!
Give the guy a break! He really does care about his students and he's extremely smart. His courses are challenging, but it's rewarding when you put in the effort and get a good grade. I think he's shy, but he is amazingly brilliant! If you have any interest in math at all, give him a try.
Don't take Scott if you want to keep your good GPA intact. This man is so smart that he fails to breakdown the material so that his students can understand it. He even starts and ends class with a gavel. He should not be teaching students at all.
I have always done well in math. I made As and Bs on every assignment except for maybe one test. He is very smart and organized. He is very odd but I enjoyed his class. My overall grade was an A.
Dr. Scott is literally a math genius! He teaches as if you are on his level of mathematics & not in a freshman class. If you're not so good at math, do not take him!
Scott definitely is a math genius, and does have a hard time explaining things to students. I had him for Prob & Stats, and our graded homework came straight from the book, which he hardly lectured on. He became more lenient throughout the class because he saw that no one was doing well. He's an okay professor, and as long as you try, he'll help.
Dr. Scott is an interesting character. It is clearly obvious that he has trouble with social communication, but overall, he is a good teacher and he is a math genius! He is really nice and I think most people overlook this because of his strange ways. Tests are straightforward, he curves at the end, and he makes the tests as easy as possible.
He is not the most friendly professor and not the easiest to approach for extra help outside of class, but the man is a math genius. You WILL actually learn in his class if you take the time to do so. I did much better in his class than I ever did in highschool.
Very annoying, fast paced class. A LOT of work. Not enough time.
Scott's ways are written in stone and there's no changing his beliefs. One thing that bothered me about him is his rigid grading routine. He does not give much partial credit, largely because he operates under what he calls "pharmacy" grading standards. For those who are weak at math, form study groups. This is vital to passing the course.
Best math professor I've had so far. He's always willing to go the extra mile to help students out, he even allowed students in my class to re-do certain assignments to get a better grade. Tests are straight from the notes, he never uses the book. He does seem to be socially awkward at times, but tries his best to be friendly and laid back.
Took this class with Professor Scott Summer 1 14'. Attendance was important he counted off the final grade for poor attendance. He had understandable notes and was very detailed. Enjoyed the class.
Take great notes to help complete the homework. -easy for the most part You're going to have to practice the math a good bit to do really well on the tests because his tests are a bit more difficult than the homework or the review. So, don't do the same problems over and over, find harder ones to study. -No textbook in our class-
Dr. Scott truly knows his stuff. He's a bit socially awkward and he can be tough. Would highly recommend to anyone who is a math majorminor. Overall an excellent learning experience.
Dr. Scott is such an odd man. He does not allow cell phones and will send you out if you use them. He assigns homework that is helpful for studying for the test and gives you practice tests. He grades really hard, but once you learn how he grades and what he expects, the class isn't that bad. I made an A but had to work for it.
I would not recommend taking him. Very tough grader, takes off many points for simple things.. Moves too fast, tries to cram in all the material in one lecture.
This man has no idea how to bring himself to teach. He is very smart, but thinks that all his students are equally intelligent and expects nothing less. This is a nightmare for anyone that is not a math major or nor gifted in the subject like me. Maybe some can pass, but i dont know anyone who really understood or liked him.
He is very intelligent and really wants students to understand math, not just memorize formulas. He has some oddities, but he really does want students to succeed.
Professor Scott is perhaps the single worst professor I have encountered. He is completely inaccessible and makes very little effort to boost your grade. He is also very awkward and can make class somewhat uncomfortable. If you are good in math, you will be fine; but for my fellow friends who are not so mathematically gifted, AVOID HIM!.
Professor Scott is quite the odd professor. He moves at a rapid pace and doesn't ever really slow down. He is quite the character though and entertaining to watch and listen to. Also if you're a girl he won't remember who you are, even if you've spoken to him several times during the semester. I'm scared to see him teaching my required math courses
If your answer is slightly wrong, its completely wrong in his eyes. Also, he is VERY old school. You are only going to learn what he wants you to learn. His tests compared to other math 132 classes are significant shorter. He repeats himself a lot, and makes very dry jokes. Holding a conversation and asking him a question is kind of impossible.
Professor Scott is very old school. You do have homework that is graded for accuracy but his exams are exactly like his homework with maybe a few numbers different. His voice is very annoying and he's kind of hyper but I didn't think his class was difficult. I would definitely recommend having a study mate to compare answers with for homework.
He is very old school and a tough grader. You have to get the answer right or the whole problem is wrong no matter how much work you show. But he actually wants people to understand math and not memorize a formula for a semester and you forget it. The test are not hard. He comes up with easier ways to do things but he is a little awkward.
He is a super intelligent man who truly wants students to understand mathematics, however he is a very specific grader. His class contains three written homeworks prior to each exam and there are four total exams. He gives review sheets that are nearly identical to the tests. I would highly recommend taking his class unless you're bad at math.
It was a little rough dealing with at the beginning because of the awkwardness, but slowly got better by the end of the semester. His way of teaching math was different, but it was understandable if you are good at math. He really wants us to understand so he is very helpful even if you arent the best at math. Would recommend.
a very very strange man.. He tells jokes and treats math as if It is his own child. Disrespect his math and he will be very offended..
Very hard to grasp what he attempts to teach. He makes everything so much harder than it should be. I had to drop the class along with 6 other people in my class.
Wish Dr Scott had been my math teacher my whole life. He will give you an equation and he will explain to you why the equation works. If you're not up on your math, it could be confusing at first but ask him questions and he will slow down and explain. Sometimes he short cuts but he will go back and do it over. A little weird but great professor
His mindset during class with lectures, and homework are completely different during testing. He says he wouldn't grade you for your work only your answer but then critics your work on your grade
He uses pharmacist grading which means if one part of something is wrong, its all wrong. Gives 12 homework assignments (3 per unit). 4 tests and 1 cumulative final. Be prepared to deal with him being knit picky
Dr. Scott is a trip, to say the least. Very old-school and will absolutely freak if he sees or hears a cell phone. If youre good at math, you should be fine, but if not, be prepared to shed a few tears. Very unforgiving in his grading and will not give partial credit even for the smallest errors.
One of the funniest professors I've ever had. Made lectures interesting for sure. I would have done better if I just didn't make so many careless mistakes, my grade was not his fault at all he was great.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. He is a great teacher, if you already know what you're doing. If you're not good at math he will literally make you feel stupid. Wanna ask a question? He doesn't know how to answer them. You can't carry on a conversation with him. Poor guy is too smart for his own britches. Oh and make sure you cut your phone off at the door.
Where do I begin? Dr. Demon will make you feel stupid, even if you have the correct answer. If you answer correctly, he acts like he heard you say something else, and if the answer isn't right, he will laugh at and ridicule you, but won't teach you. This man has caused me to stop looking across the street so I don't have to go to his class.
Terrible teacher, when i answer and its correct he ignores it and ask if anyone has the answer, and when i answer incorrectly he chuckles. Talks too much, and he really quirky. He uses pharmacist grading which means if something in your work is wrong the whole problem is wrong.
Dr. Scott is straightforward. He doesn't teach from a textbook. His notes spell out exactly what you need to pass the exams. Homework is Pharmacist grading but only counts for 20% of your overall score. Exams are not pharmacist grading, and count for 60%. Just pay attention to what he says, he gives you everything you need, and knows his stuff.
professor scott is very hard. he takes off for the smallest things. he thinks you are in his class already knowing the material. he doesnt like cell phones. if he catches a phone on you during the exams or final you automatically fail the course. it takes a lot of studying outside the course in order to pass. it was a lot of tears and dedication.
If you know your Algebra, it is an easy A. His personality is "unique". He might have OCD. He spazzes out when technology is present. Can be condescending and make you look incompetent. He does his best at explaining his lectures and provides notes sometimes. Homeworks are quite easy and Exams. If you participate too much you'll be put on mute.
Dr. Scott has a very "unique" personality. He will cause a scene if you walk in with your phone being seen. He gives homework often which is beneficial to your grade and helps you prepare for the tests. Before the test, he does a review which is exactly like the test, the numbers are just different. If you are good at math, it is an easy A.
He is very interesting. Not like any teacher Ive ever had. Is a good teacher though but he can grade pretty tough. Makes it hard to pass sometimes. But he loves math thats for sure
Dr. Scott is a professor I will never forget. But now in my upper level classes, I appreciate the way he taught. He is very organized in the way he does things. He hates technology and he will freak out about it. If you put in the work, you'll be fine. If you're not good in math, get a tutor or you will fail.
NO! I would not suggest Dr. Scott at all! He is very impatient with any questions and explains math on the professor level instead of explaining it at the level of his students. Expects you to know certain things before starting his class. He DOES NOT allow phones at all. If he sees or hears your phone, he FLIPS out. ABSOLUTELY NOT!
DO NOT TAKE ANY OF DR. SCOTT'S COURSES! Laughed at me when I told him I was not understanding what he was teaching and asked for extra work outside of class to help my grade. Very demeaning and mean. Freaks out and looses his mind over cellphones. RUN FROM THIS MAN PLEASE LISTEN TO ME!!!!!! Very bad teacher.
This class was super hard for me and he moved very fast. Not to mention there was a huge amount of homework and his teaching is hard to understand
Strict about absences excused/unexcused, gives a lot of homework (all on paper), harsh grader.
Dr Scott is a very strict professor. You need to be very patient with him and his teaching and make sure you pay attention. He uses pharmacist grading so be careful.
I failed out of MATH111 twice before I took Damon Scott. I am terrible at math, that is why I always hated it. However, when I got into his class he made me exicted to learn it again. Yes, he gives somewhat a lot of homework but that's what helped me prepare for the tests. I didn't feel dumb anymore. His teaching style clicked for me. Love him.
He is extremely thorough. He HATES technology tho except for a calculator. He writes everything on the chalkboard. Participation will get you in his good graces. He does not give partial credit but honestly he gives you a level of understanding where you won't need it. He does give homework but it's worksheets. I personally loved his class!
Dr. Scott as a teacher is amazing. He takes things slow until we understand it. His only problem is cellphones. You can count on hearing about twenty remarks about phones all class. He will seriously cry if he sees a cellphone. Luckily he teaches well though. I recommend if you're struggling but not if you're just trying to get by.
He is very strict on cell phones, you will hear it at least 10 times a class. If you miss a class he wants to know why every time. He doesn't explain anything well, gave us printed notes and just read them, he did not really teach anything. If you take him you are going to have to teach it to yourself.
Dr. Scott is a rather unique individual. Absolutely no one can deny that he is smart. However, his teaching capabilities are "shall we say" (his quote) subpar. His homework is difficult, his tests are stressful and ridiculous, and his textbook he made is very confusing. The concepts in class do not stick because of how poorly the foundation is.
