Doc Babb is awesome. he is a great teacher and a great guy! Babb rules
BEST teacher in CHM, FUNNY and you actually understand everything! LOVE DR. BABB

Babb is laid back and easy to get along with
Chemistry ain't my thing, but Babb is the best teacher at this university by far
Doc Babb ROCKS THE CASBA !!!
Great Guy. Great Teacher. Best in the University.
Don't leave bad scores unless you can leave a reason. This man can teach!!!!
He keeps you interested during class. Prepares you for his tests.
BABB IS THE GOD OF CHEMISTRY
very funny and helpful! cant wait to take him for more courses
Dan Babb gets two thumbs up from BIG BUCKS INC. If you want to do good in the class, bring a deer call, and a 6-pack to the final. BABB IS THE MAN
Dr. Babb is entertaining, helpful, and considerate, and on top of all of that, he is a good teacher. Explains things well, and tests you on what he teaches.
Dr. Babb is the man. He should teach organic. He's by far the best professor at MU. No Joke. If you have the chance to take this guy, do so.

The only man I know that has laid more plumbing than the city water works...
THE BEST CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR EVER!!!!! Wish he taught organic chemistry maybe students would better understand it more. Very understanding, and willing to help students to the best of his ability. This man can teach!!!!!
Is it time for him to retire yet? He gives Lab quizzes that require one to memorize the entire lab in order to get a decent grade. Also, his TA's aren't exactly the brightest crayons in the box. His explanations are very vague. Definitely avoid!
BandGod don't know what their talking about. Look at everyone else's comments. Dan Babb is great. Take him!
Really nice guy. Really colorful quizzes. I would advise anyone to take him.
WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL!!!!!
Babb is the man! I had him for CHM 211, 212 and UNI 101. He is a lot of fun and willing to help out in anything and everything. He explains stuff well and is a great guy!! I would recommend him to anyone!

Bandgod, I hope to find you in a dark alley someday...........
Dan Babb is truely a great man and a very good professor. I only hope everyone who takes him can participate in some extra-curricular activiites including ethanol with him!! (I know I have.)Wishing he taught organic, he wouldn't be caught dead teaching it
Dr. Babb is an excellent example of what a professor at Marshall should be. He is accessible, considerate, and very intelligent. Take him!
Great sense of humor and always interesting test/quiz questions. Keep him laughin' and you'll do great. He never tests you on anything that he doesn't quiz you on. Plus he doesn't act like he is better than you, so you can always get help. THE BEST!!
BandGod, it's obvious you didn't do well in the class. Consider how much you studied, and then you know why. Babb can teach, don't try to blame your stupidity on the professor, he didnt get where he is by not knowing his stuff.

Awesome!!!! I would definately recommend him for anyone!
He is an awesome teacher, that gives the funniest examples that relate to chemistry. I recommend that anyone studying chemistry take him.
Actually, I was in class with BandGod, and he did well. Just because you like a particular professor doesn't mean you should ridicule others who might disagree. If he had better TA's, he might be easier to respect. Plus, he's so old and he looks crazy.
Best Every! He is a very smart man and funny too. He understands what it is like to be a college student and will help you as much as he can.
such a good teacher i took him for 212 too! i scheduled around his class!!! he's a great guy, always willing to help, tests are his like his quiz questions, very easy to talk to, he'll help you with anything... we need more teachers like Babb!!
THe TAs matter most when it comes to a big bulk of your grade, but he designed the quizzes and the final. The quizzes are average and the final is just an accumulation of the final. He scales soo much, so its awesome
Dr. Babb is awesome!! Love his class, sometimes it boring, like all classes but it really is a great class to be in. All the test are excellent. 25 mulit. choice plus bonus. Come on what more do u want?
No Complaints here.. :)
A great lab professor. The labs progressively got easier and you never work with anything past .1 Molar (aka, very weak chemicals). My only complain would be the reliance on TA's and their inconsistancy with lab grading.
I liked him better than my lecture teacher (Yom), but that's not saying much. His TA's sucked, and I'm pretty sure their recommendation is why I got a B and not an A. When he explained things on the board, his writing was all over the place and confusing
The TA's didn't help at all. Dr. Babb didn't communicate very well, and seemed to favor the guys. The syllabus he gave at the beginning of the semester wasn't followed in order. Quizzes were tough. Just try your best, and do the lab reports thoroughly!

babb is great but he's TA's suck, he is a nice guy but to get an A u have to suck up to the TA's which is very dumb.
Very good professor. Very straightforward tests, no surprises.
bab is a nice guy and has a good teacher but he doesnt seem to care what his students do. the majority of the class cheats on exams and he seems to look the other way.....
Listen, I definitely learned more in high school than I did in his class. He's a funny guy and he seems like a great person, but he tries to make everything so hard. If you have a decent background in chemistry you probably won't have any trouble though.
Babb was not very clear in is explinations. He never answered the questions that were asked and he wasn't a very good lecturer. Having a good chemistry back ground helped but wasn't enough to completely understand his incomplete explinations.
Babb is soo cute. He is not very good at teaching. I had to get a tutor. I don't think he cares if you cheat, though.
This class is so hard. The quizzes are pure hell, and the TA's aren't too helpful. Dr. Babb is a really cool guy, but he didn't always get his point across when teaching chemistry.
BABB IS AWESOME! HE IS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP AND IF YOU STUDY YOUR NOTES, QUIZZES AND TESTS ARE QUITE SIMPLE! HE LOVES CIGS, AND COLLEGE KIDS, TOO!
cool guy
Dr. Babb is great!! I have him right now and I actually enjoy going to class...never thought I'd say that. He's very laid back and loves to crack jokes when peoples cell phones go off, he doesn't care if you copy on quizzes, and his tests aren't that hard, you just have to put forth a little effort
This man is great, he is truly a remarkable teacher not to mention very handsome. His class is easy if you study what he tells you to. He will never teach you anything you dont need to know for tests. Take this class
He is a hilarious and great guy, but doesn't explain any part of the lecture well at all. If you are good at figuring stuff out on your own, then it's alright, but if you need good explainations, find somebody else.
Dr. Babb is freakin awesome! I don't care what anyone says, he's a great professor. If you have a problem, he will definately help. He will take the time to explain things if you need it. He's really down to earth and he really tries to get to know his students. I definately recommend him to anyone.
Babb is an awesome teacher who doesnt mind helping out. I didnt have to study that much and the final wasnt too hard at all. I would recommend him anytime!!

Bab gives non-answers to all of my questions, and his TA's are out of control.
Chem was never easy for me, but when I made an effort to get help during office hours he brushed me off and didn't help at all. Also, the TA's are very inconsistent with grading and they're pretty much responsible for your whole lab grade.
He's a great teacher. I would recommend him to every freshman that has to take the general chemistry classes. He helps out whenever he can. Sometimes he moves a little fast though, so keep up :)
Awesome, i've had several Chem Professors adn they were HORRIBLE...Babb is funny, intelligent, and wants all his students to get an A
Didn't help when I asked him for help.
Great teacher, curves test and is willing to help anyone if you go up to him. Has a good sense of humor and tries to make class interesting, definitely one of the better chm teachers teaching.
Dr. Babb has a very interesting character. His class is often made interesting by his weird sense of humor. His tests are tricky sometimes and can be hard. If you know someone who has taken his class before, get the old test! He sometimes gives questions from old tests or complete old tests!
Dr. Babb is easily one of the best professors I've had yet. He is a wonderful teacher, and he is willing to help out more than is rewuired of him. He even put his home phone number on his syllabus in case you had a question and couldn't make it to his office hours. He is a wonderful asset to this university.
Easiest professor at Marshall, debatably. Great classes, and he conveys everything you need to know. Tests are simple. Walking away without an A is tough if you actually study what he tells you will be on the exams. Very funny to be around.
Babb is ****ing awesome! He wants students to do well and doesn't make them learn pointless stuff or memorize things they won't need to know again. He also doesn't make you try to read things that are way over your head that would usually confuse you more. He tells you exactly what's on the test and how to do well - definately take him!
I absolutely love Dr. Babb! He is my favorite professor by far. His test are pretty hard & you do have to study, but he is awesome! He always makes me laugh in class & he is extremely helpful!
GREAT PROFESSOR!!! So funny and helpful... if every professor was like Dr. Babb, Marshall would be a much better place. :) :)
Dr. Babb is good if you like chemistry. If you need to ask questions, don't depend on getting an answer. Once I told him, I have the correct answer but the decimal is off. After minutes of contemplating, he says "Oh, you are just off by the decimal." Really, genius.
Awesome teacher!!...He is very helpful and want everyone to do well..He is very funny and his lectures are interesting...but u do need to study...He is just the cutest thing ever too!
This man is the best professor in the world, not to mention one of the most attractive professors at MU, I would reccomend taking his class over and over again, I know Ive taken it 4 times
He's really nice and a good teacher.. I'm not a chemistry fan, though... but I'd recommend him... but watch out.. he actually expects you to do your homework!
i love him! he really cares about your learning abd he wants to see you succeed! hes very understanding and i woudl highly recommend him as a teacher!!
Babb is wonderful. Always around for help, and seems to genuinely care that you do well in his class. Would venture to say is the best and easiest 211 teacher you can take. Tests are fair, he's fair, and the final won't flunk you if you fail it. You get what you deserve in his class.
Babb is awesome. He teaches you what you need to know and omits what you don't need. He's funny and makes lecture interesting. "you will get what you deserve in this class" says it all.
He's great.
Dr. Babb is a great professor. He's been at Marshall forever, and knows exactly how to teach freshman chemistry. He teaches you exactly what you need to know, his tests are pretty easy, his final isn't nearly as bad as other classes. He's a really nice guy, too. Highly recommend.
Overall nice guy and great teacher. If you pay attention and study, you'll at least get a B.
Dr. Babb was one of those hip teachers in the late 1980s. He was tough but fun. If you study and have a grasp on the subject of chemistry, you'll do well, and you'll learn alot. I'd very much recommend him.
Dr. Baab is an awesome professor. He is very knowledgeable and made chemistry easy, fun, and ejoyable. His tests are fair and I quite enjoyed his Bonus questions-- writing a joke. If you have to take chemstry classes, he is the top one at MU.
I had Babb as a lab instructor. He teaches the lab with clarity and shows you the necessary calculations beforehand. If you need to ask him a question about anything, do not hesitate to approach him in his office: he'll gladly help you. My only complaint is that the lab quizzes are pretty difficult.
i absolutely love Babb!!! he is an amazing teacher. I had him for lecture CHM 211 and also his lab CHM 217 his labs are easy shows you exactly what to do. His CHM 211 was varily easy alot of lecture notes but was def. one of the best teachers i have had. Plan on taking him for as many CHM classes as possible. AWESOME. he is funny
the class is easy but his test are hard unless you study a lot overall good guy and fun to have for class
Dr. Babb has to be the best professor at Marshall. His labs were easy and straightforward, the grading on the lab reports was hilariously lax, but the lab quizzes were tricky. I have him for 212 next semester and would take him for all my Chemistry classes if I could.
He is so nice and will answer questions. His tests are fair. Make sure you do the assignments. It really helps you on the tests.
Babb was an excellent teacher... his tests were straight from the notes... and best of all... they made sense!
Babb is a wonderful teacher. He knows what he is talking about and doesn't care to help. He wants to see you learn. His tests were tricky because the answers were all possibilities if a problem was figured incorrectly. But, his quizzes were easy. He's great and I'd take him any chance I got.
Great teacher, very straightforward, very helpful. Quizzes are harder than you think they'll be, but if you just study ahead of time for the labs, you should be ok. I have him for CHM 212 next semester and looking forward to it.
Easy lab to take. Quizes are fairly difficult but lab reports graded easily to balance bad quiz scores. Exams somewhat difficult but I hate chemistry and pulled a C. Babb is pretty cool and very easy going.
Best chemistry teacher I ever had. He knows how to have fun and always cracks jokes. Class is VERY interesting and is not difficult. MUST HAVE teacher.
Great teacher, but in my opinion overemphasizes the importance of quizzes in the lab. Could perform all of the experiments perfectly and still make a C.
Dr. Babb is an awsome teacher!! He smokes like a freight train, but he's really cool. Any questions you have he'll answer. It was a tough class but study the old exams and you'll do great on the tests. For the final he gives out "magic" jellybeans. Take him, he's the best of all the Chem teachers.
His tests are hard and you must study but he is a fun guy to have for class
You have to come to class to take notes. He tests/quizzes only over his notes. He uses the book only for the practice problems, which if you do those and read over your notes you should get an A. But you can count on doing a little bit of work for your grade.
Sweet guy and really funny, but the pre-lab quizzes are hell. I have high A's in ALL my courses, but I think I will make a low B in this course. He makes everyone do a quiz before lab, and they are very math-intensive instead of asking about the procedure. There were no mid-terms, though, and the final is apparently just the quiz questions.
He's a great teacher. Without a doubt, the best teacher to take if you are a science major. It's not an easy class, but he makes the class funny. The pre-lab quizzes suck. Make sure that you study for them. All in all, he's a great pick.
Dr. Babb is the man. You won't find another professor thats as funny or as willing to help if you have a problem. Class format is easy, Chp. quizzes and Section Exams...Exams are all multiple choice and quizzes are all math. Overall the best teacher I've had so far and I would recommend him to anyone who likes chemistry but likes to keep it fun!
He Told us not to use the book, just use his notes and we will do fine. Well I went everyday took the notes, and some of the homework problems he assigned were not on the notes. I went to him once because he graded my test wrong and asked him some questions, was totally rude. He messes up a lot on the board. I would not recommend him!
Ehh, fairly so-so prof. Is a really nice guy, but I could never get "serious" about the class. The course work is way easy but, the exams are fairly tricky. The magic jelly beans are cool, but would recommend another prof if you plan on continuing with chemistry. Also, his hair is really distracting, mainly because his hair never seems to change.
If you know what your doing in chemistry, then I would recommend him. If not, don't take him. He doesn't really teach anything, he just writes everything he says word for word on the board. He assigns problems from the book, then tells you not to use the book to study. You basically have to teach yourself His tests are pretty hard and very tricky.
this man is a little older and bitterer, but i liked him and he gave me a good grade in exchange for my hard work. the class is not hard in my opinion. people say things a lot, but i liked him!
Hard test, MUST STUDY get to know him, he tends to give some lead way to students that take the time to go to his office hours and ask questions. Also read ahead of time so you will have a better understading of what he is talking about, does not go into to much detail while teaching
Baab is by far the greatest man in the entire universe. The fact that he is so hot makes you pay attention in class. He has so much extra credit :) and its worth your while to go to his office hours. I love him and i reccomend him to anyone. Baab is the man and his sandals really spark the interest of chemistry. Easy A if you have a brain :]
Gives weekly quizzes..study the hour before and you'll be fine. Usually theres a calculation on the quiz from the lab a week ago. If you do well on the quizzes and actually do the lab report correctly its almost a guaranteed easy A. Hopefully you have someone that asks dumb-ish questions so you can appreciate his super dry humor haha. he is the man
Dr. Babb is great. He has an awesome sense of humor and his lectures are interesting. He really knows his chemistry and he must sincerely love teaching it to college kids or else he would have retired by now! His pre-lab quizzes are HARD so study for them, but he grades lab papers easy to balance it out.
Babb is the chemistry teacher that everyone coming and going has had. His lab class is decently hard. The quizzes are very hard. Make sure you understand the math from the previous lab and know what you're doing in the lab that day. And make friends with the assistants. They do the grading.
Yeah, he's a quirky old man, and that's fun and all, but his class is actually fairly hard. The quizzes aren't too bad, but you have to study and know EVERY LITTLE DETAIL he goes over in lecture for his tests, and the questions on the test are usually much harder versions of practice problems that he's assigned. Really not that fun of a class.
Babb's one of the easier CHM212 professors so these people who thought he was hard didn't work. He has his own way of lecturing that may be hard to understand (he doesn't engage the class at all) but if you ask him for help he is very clear. Study the NOTES and do his practice problems and you will ace his tests/quizzes. No need to study the book.
Babb is probably one of the coolest professors at Marshall. If you study his notes and do the homework he assigns you should do well.
Babb is always willing to help. Vague in lecture. Re-uses exams so try to get old ones. Quizzes are reused also. Study those and you will ace the course.
Babb was the professor who EVERYBODY wanted to take. There's a good reason for that. He's the easiest CHM teacher I ever had. Make friends with the TAs. They're the ones who do the grading. They also help you with the labs. Be prepared for a quiz every week. It always included the math from the previous lab and the chemicals you would use that day.
Dr. Babb was great! He is really understanding if you have to miss class, but study for the quizzes. The labs are graded by TA so no worries!
MAKE SURE YOU TAKE BABB FOR LAB!!!
Is hard to understand during pre-lab. Unclear on directions. TA's suck they don't even know what they are doing and grade hard. Syllabus doesnt explain exactly what is expected. He sucks!
Babb makes many mistakes in direction. TAs grade everything, but Babb wants them to grade hard. There is no grading consistency and after asking for a rubric, he ignores the request. quizzes are on irrelevant information like formulas for experimental components rather than concepts or actual problems topic related. DON'T TAKE BABB!brings down GPA
Great guy! Lectures are pretty straight forward. Quizzes are pretty simple. Study hard for tests. One of the easier chem professors.
not helpful at all. Strongly recommend another professor!!!!!!!!
Not a good professor. Doesn't teach anything. Doesn't tell he TAs how to grade lab reports. All he tells them is to grade hard, so they pretty much do their own thing to make him happy, which results in terrible grades for you unless you are very lucky. You're grades aren't based on your understanding of chemistry, just the TA's and Babbs mood.
This class was very challenging at first until I understood chemistry. Once I had a good understanding of this subject, it wasnt so bad. I had to teach myself the material because if i paid attention to Babb, I would get so confused I didnt know how to do the basic stuff. Even though he is confusing,Babb is very understanding. I would recommend him
Knows exactly wat he's teaching. my problem is almost exclusively with his TA's. they're all nice guys but they grade all your work and the grading consistency could not be worse. Personally I've had the same parts of my lab report graded multiple ways. The only rubric he will offer is "look up one of my papers not written in German"
Don't pay attention to ratings from 211 and 217, the majority of the students taking those dont go on to 212 or 218. Dr. Babb is very helpful and knows what he is doing! As long as you put forth the effort and study his notes for the tests there is no reason you shouldn't get an A. Try to get some of his old tests too!
The guy seems to understand the chemistry and acts like he wants you to do well, but he's not that great at teaching. This wouldn't be a problem if at least half of the material was in the book but it's not. He seems to get frustrated if you ask any question about what he's going over. As an engineering major with a high GPA, I failed his class.
He's very smart. Maybe too much so to teach. He expects you to already know the material and for everything to pretty much be a review, so if you don't know chemistry, even this low level may be difficult with him. If you go to his office hours, he will help you. He may come off as snide, though. Make sure to sit in the front to hear him!
Dr. Babb is very intelligent and knows what he is talking about. However, he can be pretty tough with the lab quizzes. Make sure you read the lab manual and know what you are doing, he hates questions. He also enjoys smoking in his office and not caring what you say.
Dr. Babb smart but he's also too smart. I felt like he was writing down problems on the board and just repeating what he was writing, rather than actually teacher how to do it. It was also a problem that halfway through my CHM 203 course he said "wait, this isn't CHM 211?" so he had basically been giving us unnecessary chem work.
One of the worst professors I've ever had. I'm pretty sure he has dementia, and I hope he has retired by now, (no disrespect meant.) He would lose track of what chapter the class was on every class, and would never give me straight answers about what chapters to study. He doesn't explain any concepts, he just does equations on the board.
