Extremely, EXTREMELY approachable and helpful. Genuinely nice guy. At first I was not sure about his "I'm one of you" approach, as that is usually a total sandbag for professors, who then mark you horribly hard and throw miserable tests at you. But he is genuinely a good teacher, fair marker, and goes out of his way to help you if you work hard.
absolutely amazing professor! knows what hes talking about and extremely approachable! hes one of the best profs at western!
Very nice, approachable prof. Will work with you re: deadlines & give you feedback on your papers. Fair marker. Works to make material interesting & understandable. Great prof overall!
Amazing prof. Very flexible, very helpful, and very funny. He cares greatly about the success of his students. Cannot recommended him enough!
Awesome prof! He makes difficult ideas and concepts quite clear. Assignments are great too.
He knows what he's saying and gives insight you wouldn't generally think upon otherwise
Great guy- super approachable and willing to help. Gives you tons of ways to gain participation marks if you aren't comfortable talking in class. His lectures go quickly through a ton of material and sometimes get confusing because of this but he posts everything online and responds quickly to emails. Genuinely cares about success of his students
The more you get to know him the more you realize he took a plunge off the deep end a while ago. As a professor I would say he borders on grossly unprofessional at times, I have seen him take out his frustrations with life on students. Class was easy for me but I basically taught everything to myself as his lectures are pointless. AVOID if you can!
Professor Bousfield is okay. He can be unprofessional and his lectures tend to be erratic. His midterm and final were super easy (mostly because he gives out the questions beforehand) and you don't need to buy (or even really read) the textbook.
Amazing professor. Always available for help and feedback. Lectures were interesting and he encouraged everyone's input. Definitely would take more of his classes.
hes awesome, grades really well because he is very easy to approach and will constantly help you and simplify concepts when you dont understand at first.
Favorite prof. Lectures weren't really necessary but I always went because he made them a lot of fun
the class was extremely boring and material was very dry. The professor is really nice and funny but his lectures are extremely scattered and do not lead toward one overarching point of the class. you literally just learn things for the sake of memorizing them, nothing links up. it is a bird course, but it is so boring its not even worth it
Dan is amazing! He is very understanding, knows how to connect, treats you like more of a friend than a student. I have taken 4 upper year political science classes with him and loved them all! Many opportunities to succeed, and given chances to do extra credit. AMAZING!
Honestly, one of the best professors. Extremely interesting and genuinely cares about the students. Responds to email in pretty good time with good detail. If you make an effort and show you are interested in his teachings he will notice. He is fair and understands students have work from other classes and not just his.
Dan is the type of guy who is looking for one thing, an argument, he didn't care what political views I had on the topic, as along I argued his question and related it to the course readings. He wants his students to succeed but also he wants you to put the effort in. Going to his office is one thing, but listen to what he wants will put you ahead.
Very good course, lots of options, he is very accessible if you make the effort. Only cares about strong argument, doesn't make a big deal about little things
You should do the readings throughout the year to write a good take home exam. Reading responses are cumbersome, just go to/participate in class and your overall attendance mark will be high. For 3317, readings are less necessary but you should incorporate major theorists into your essay. Always do assignment reflections to increase your grade.
Dan gave an obscene amount of readings and expected us to memorize tiny details for the exams. He was way too nit-picky with the written assignments too, Ive been getting 82-88 in my political science courses up to this point but I only managed to score 75-77 on Dans essays even after going into see him multiple times throughout the year. Avoid!
Dan's awesome. A really funny guy but also really smart; he's helpful to students who come to him with questions and makes lectures really engaging. Make sure to do the readings and check them for participation marks. Reading responses are helpful but not necessary if you just show up and participate.
Pros: -extremely accessible -grades quickly and gives good feedback -classes were entertaining -offers flexible deadlines for assignments Cons: -didn't learn much from class, most learning is done through readings -incorporates too much of his personal ideology in lectures
Solid prof, funny, flexible and easy exams
My fav guy!!! super funny and insightful, although topics on the surface level can seem kinda boring, he does an awesome job at engaging the students and arguing different perspectives. He is super reasonable. Unlike many other Poli sci profs, show up to class and have a clear grasp of the material, you can achieve over a 90%.
Incredible prof - knowledgeable, lectures are actually interesting and clear. Genuinely cares about student success - grades quickly, very willing to review full papers before the deadline, is flexible with due dates, provides exam questions in advance, is very accessible. Thoroughly impressed - Bousfield is the best Western poli sci has to offer
Does not teach you a single thing throughout the semester. Nothing related to theories, concepts, major themes or events. Completely rambles off the top of his head every class about things that interest him at the moment that are not related to the course. He then expects you to teach yourself the entire course before writing a paper/exam. Avoid.
Interesting course, lots of freedom to explore topics. You need to sign the attendance sheets or you get nailed on the final grade. Lots of memes and discussion, not driven by readings. Great experience, loved the course!
What can I say, Dan is just the modern-day example of a professor who can connect with the GenXYZ.... he is extremely bold and daring and challenges us with unique topics that no other professors at Western is willing to bring forward in a class filled with over 100 students. Love his accessibility outside the class and his willingness to help out.
this prof tries to make lectures conversational, but in doing so in a class of over 100 students, he excludes a large portion of the students from his teachings. He tried to start important discussions on sensitive subjects with good intentions, but was oriented towards a particular audience - white suburban kids. half my POC friends dropped out.
Brings up topics of discussion that are really weird and disturbing. Not sure what he does in his free time that encourages him to discuss such morbid things during class. Didn't really discuss any of the readings. Uses class time to just talk about weird things.
Great professor. Puts lots of memes in his lectures, keeps them interesting. Tends to talk quickly, and sometimes goes off on tangents which makes note-taking difficult. Otherwise straightforward. MC exams, students make up the questions, he provides a test bank too. Easy GPA booster if you need it.
Good prof, very knowledgeable and good elective to take. In his youtube videos, he likes to go off a tangent so it can be hard to take notes. Would 100% recommend this course as he even allows you to make the exam questions and gives a study guide beforehand, making studying far more painless
He is a great guy, however do not expect to truly absorb anything in his class both online and in- person. He is quite smart, and it shows in the density and speed at which he gives his lectures. Furthermore, you only need to engage with readings when handing in an assignment. Handled the switch to online learning in a very fair way to students.
Clear lectures, engaging to listen to, and pretty easy exams. Solid professor.
Had Prof. Bousfield during the pandemic. Seemed like a nice guy with good intentions but made 0 effort with lectures. Half of his lectures were just others videos, I didn't pay all this money for a YouTube education. Still easy course but ridiculous use of lecture material and a boring tone to accompany it.
bro this man is an absolute gem i loved taking his courses, yes he will go off on a coke zero-fuled rampage but that is part of his charm. this guy is super accessible out of class and always there to help. i had several courses with him and it was the highlight of my uni experience. dan is not a tough grader at all, he loves opinionated pieces!!
Dan is easily one of my favourite profs at Western. He programmed the course to be extremely simple and fair to get participation grades, always gives extensions, very accessible outside of class, and overall just a hilarious prof. A highlight of zoom university
Can-US Relations was a great course. The lectures were super fun, the course was very well-organized, the discussions were always hilarious. Dan is also just a super understanding and caring prof. Would definitely recommend taking more than one of his courses!
The BEST prof i've ever had. He does a great job at explaining everything and asks lots of compelling questions in lecture and discussions. He is super accessible outside of class, is always ready and willing to help, posts all readings which is a blessing, and is truly one of the best and most caring profs you will ever have at western.
I thought he was really interesting. My one complaint would be that his lectures were kind of hard to follow because the things he puts up on the slides don't make for good cues when taking notes, but I enjoyed hearing what he had to say about the material. Watch the lectures (or go to class once we're in-person) and you should be set for the exam.
Seems like a chill dude but he was really dry. His lectures were hard to follow and most of the time he was reading off the slides. Dan answered my emails right away so that was pretty great. Im sure he is better in person but he is very organized so that was great
Easy 90+ if you do all the work. Very time consuming online lectures because of how often I needed to pause to get notes down, but the funny tangents and memes make up for it. Definitely try to take a Bousfield class during your time at Western.
2140 was a great course and Dan was a great professor. He was available to help, stuck to schedule, and was very caring/accomodating. A textbook is not really necessary for this course, but it is definitely recommended if you're looking for a mark in the 90s. You also need to go to class/know the slide material if you want to do well.
Dan is a bloody gem. He's so passionate about what he teaches and wants his students to be engaged with the material of the course. I couldn't care less about international law, but Dan makes it so interesting and entertaining. He speaks quickly, but you'll adjust. Great prof in all courses I've had with him. If you participate a lot you'll do well
He's an alright professor but he keeps talking about how bad the textbook was, which it was, but he also picked it out? Otherwise he was just okay
Dan is an absolute legend. Goes on rants in lectures which are hilarious and will boost your grade a little if you go to exam review / office hours. Replies quickly on email and generally is very accommodating.
Bousfield is an absolute gem. The guy is super funny and also super chill. His lectures are high-key entertaining. Exams aren't hard, but you definitely gotta study for them. Lots of content!
He is super overrated and is extremely biased when he talks about politics. I should not be able to tell what party my prof would vote for, but I could tell with him. I never wanted to participate in his lectures because I feared he would reprimand me. Also, the content in this course is silly, it has no flow, super random. Avoid him!
Just a horrible lecturer. The slides are so poorly organized and the guy goes on random tangents about stuff not even on the slides. He's a nice guy and can be funny sometimes but his lectures just become so pointless. Better option is to skip and watch the lecture videos online
Dan is an excellent instructor and a valuable asset to the Political Science department. His lectures are engaging, making the course material easy to understand. He is also very approachable and willing to help students, in office hours or via email. Overall, I highly recommend taking a course with Dan if you have the opportunity.
Prof. Dan offers clear lectures and demonstrates good subject knowledge. His approachable demeanor makes learning enjoyable. A solid choice for any student.
Dan's course was super chill, definitely an easy A. Lectures were simple to follow, no heavy stuff. Great for knocking out credits without too much hassle. Would recommend if you're looking for a laid-back class in your second year.
Solid choice for Canada-US Relations. Prof is flexible with assignments, offers plenty of options, and gives useful feedback. Definitely makes the course engaging and worthwhile for upper-level students.
I by no means enjoy the content, but Dan's lectures are so interesting. He uses so many current references, videos, and tiktoks to make the content engaging and easy to grasp. I respect the amount of time he puts into creating his powerpoints because they are so complete. Oh, and did i mention online unproctored exams?
the most unorganized yap session lectures that you will not want to attend, but the entire exam is based on specific little things he mentioned during the lectures. its an essay course, but your essay will not get marked for months, or literally after the semester is over. hes passionate but very biased and goes on tangents, very self-contradictory
Very politically inclined (left), false information were delivered in lectures occasionally.
Dr. Bousfield is an expert at creating a positive in-person lecture environment. Most lectures were 110+ slides, which made for daunting pre-lecture notes, however Bousfield handpicked relevant material outside of traditional Westphalian narratives which made for such important discourse. I look forward to listening to more of his knowledge.
this guy loves to hear himself talk omg his video lectures are very bloated with useless tangents of just him talking to himself about stuff that means nothing to anyone thats not him very difficult to pick out important pieces of information and hard to follow he seems like a very nice person but as a lecturer i would much prefer someone else
The lectures are engaging, keeping things interesting. For the exams, the are based on the YouTube video transcripts – that's where most of the material comes from. Heads up, though, essay grades can take a bit to come back. The content's pretty cool, mixing in different media like TikToks. All in all, it's a decent course.
The lectures are dynamic and engaging, making the material easy to follow. There's a strong use of multimedia, with YouTube videos and TikToks incorporated seamlessly into the content. The exams are straightforward and align well with the material covered. Overall, it's an enjoyable and well-rounded course.
Such an amazing prof. His lectures are super chill and his exams and assignments are super fair. I 100% recommend taking a class with Dan Bousfield, he truly cares about his students.
Dan is super nice and tries really hard to keep content relevant and interesting for students. He shows TikTok's and YouTube videos and is very engaged when it comes to lectures. He walks around and asks students thought provoking questions. Would definitely take another class with Dan because he rocks!!
Dan is honestly the best prof I've had in undergrad. I'm in my fourth year now, and I've taken around six of his courses. He's always been incredibly fair, generous with marks where he can be, and super lenient with deadlines. He's quick to reply to emails, lets you redo assignments, and somehow still manages to be hilarious and bring Timbits.
I have taken so many classes with Prof Bousfield. One of the best professors at Western. Class material can be a lot but he genuinely cares about his students and is passionate about the content he teaches. He is always more than happy to help, do the work and participate and you will be just fine!
Dan is awesome. He's definitely got a unique teaching style in that he gives you a lot of work, but also a lot to choose from. His new asynchronous system gives you a ton of options to choose from for all assignments. Probably the best SocSci prof at Western IMO
Unless you like PoliSci this is not a bird course by anymeans. his lectures are long (120+ Slides) and very confusing. The midterm and final both reflect this. The test isnt about content rather about what he thinks about the textbook and dont be fooled the online midterm is hard.
Guy just rambles to himself all lecture no clue what the course is about
okay this guy is definitiely a diva, shout out to him mentioning that we should have free parking (western are you listening), and overall he makes sense. However (BIG HOWEVER) I would say that he kind of contradicts his own slides a lot lol, so it gets really confusing on what you are supposed to write down. Tests are a little hard too
Poli sci 1026 is disguised as a "bird course" when in reality it's not. The lectures are very ambiguous and all over the place. The questions on the online midterm despite being open book are extremely difficult. The content is not laid out well, resulting in confusion when it comes to knowing what to study and how to study.
Goes WAY off track during lectures, is obsessed with AI, openly does not think very highly of his students. He takes pride in screwing over his students during exam season. Like wdym you won't post answers to practice exams and are so fixated on AI that u create the most ridiculous exam questions to surpass it? Terrible prof, don't take this course
Would NOT recommend this prof, whether it be for a mandatory or bird course. He mumbles so much that it is so hard to follow. I have econ and math courses and they are a million times easier because the profs are organized and communicate clearly. Avoid this prof if you wanna get a good grade!
All guy does is ramble and talk to himself throughout the entire lecture, extremely unorganized, very hard to figure out what is going on in the course. Each slideshow is unorganized and has 120 slides each, it is honestly ridiculous. He plays a million tik tok videos in his lecture and says are testable. Do not take if prof is teaching this.
NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER take this class. This professor has been the bane of my existence since coming to Western. With every peer in the class we all agree that this class was our biggest regret. This professor needs to never teach again. I cannot watch another video lecture.
This class is NOT a bird. Every time I walked to I class genuinely hoped I got ran over by a car. Despite what upper years have said about this so called "bird", the course structure has changed immensly from past years, and Dan genuinely hates his students. Do NOT take this course. It is 100% a course I regret taking. Save yourself. Help.
I can't do this anymore. Help.
tends to completely stray from the unbiased textbook and more towards his aggressively opinions. most of course content is just memorizing his opinion instead of general knowledge. extremely unorganized and thick headed
prof disagrees with the textbook a lot and essentially grades you on his opinion of what is said in the textbook, goes off on unrelated tangents often, can be hard to follow at times. basically just wants you to regurgitate his opinions back to him, not a very informative class and frustrating at times, wouldn't recommend.
Extremely disorganized and hard to follow. He loves AI and uses it for everything, however he doesn't proofread before he posts. No clear rubric for assignments, and very confusing AI generated instructions. He goes though 130-150 slides in a 2 hour class. Way too much content, and not clearly displayed.
This guys lectures might be the worst things ive ever attended in my life. He talks for like 2 hours straight of nonstop nonsense. He goes through like 200 slides within 2 hours not giving u any time to write down whats on the slides or what hes saying. Hard to decipher whether anything he says is actually testable or just bs yap.
He's lost his mind to AI and literally made a simple assignment a living hell. I had to change my entire writing style so he wouldn't lose his mind, assume it was AI, and then complain about how bad the writing is. Took his class as an elective, but I ended up spending most of my time on stupid stuff to satisfy his requirements. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Professor Dan is one of the most engaging instructors I've had. Class is super interactive with polls, discussions, and TikToks that actually help explain the material. He offers many ways to participate and makes sure everyone is included.
Dan's class is fast, interactive, and super easy to engage with. He uses discussions, quick activities, and TikToks to break things down in a way that actually sticks. Low-stress vibe, clear expectations, and he keeps everyone participating without it feeling forced.
Dan's class is straightforward and surprisingly fun. The online videos make the concepts easy to follow, and the assessments are clear and low-pressure. He gives plenty of ways to participate without overwhelming you. Solid choice if you want a class that's engaging but not stressful.
This class made me hate my first semester of uni. He is obsessed with AI, lectures are 150+ slides he contradicts everything on them and in the textbook too making it impossible to understand anything. He talks about things completely unrelated to the course and makes his political views very clear. He basically sets his students up for failure
His first semester was engaging and motivating. If you don't want to learn about AI you shouldn't be in the University. He brings lots of real world examples and encourages critical thinking to events and issues. Would take a course with him again.
Accessible prof, lots of material, midterm was tough but fair. Intro isn't a bird anymore but enjoyed the classes
Very contradictory and fast in his lectures. His only recommendation for studying was "ask AI to generate practice questions for you based on the slides" (personally watching lecture vid was better as the exams have qs on niche examples). If you to class you'll pass but idk if there's any strategy to doing well in this course
Boy oh boy am I going to have a great rating for numbnuts over here. DO NOT listen to most of these high ratings that are just glazing him because they are inaccurate. This dude has the most yapping level content in the world and I would never recommended someone to take this class unless required. His slideshows out ass and TikTok's are testable.
Accessible professor with plenty of course material. The midterm was challenging but fair. The intro is no longer bird-focused, but I still enjoyed the classes overall.
Boy oh boy, I'm absolutely going to give this professor a great rating. Definitely listen to the high ratings—they're accurate. The lectures are engaging and informative, and I'd highly recommend taking this class even if it's not required. The slides are clear and helpful, and the examples used are very relevant for exams.
Don't take this class. Entire course is based on his aggressive liberal opinions. Midterm and final were absolutely ludicrous. AI has sent this man into psychosis, his obsession with it is honestly concerning. His lectures are a mixture of intense rants followed by a bit of rambling to himself and then an unrelated tiktok like AI MLK screaming 67
Highly recommend this class. The course is thoughtfully structured around the professor's perspectives, encouraging critical thinking and discussion. Exams are challenging but fair and rewarding. His focus on AI is engaging and relevant, and lectures are energetic, creative, and memorable throughout the semester.
Best class in my undergrad so far, lots of practical ai discussions and easy marking. Great course
holy cooked genuinely save urself do NOT let this guy be ur prof. he could be any job in this world but a prof. didnt understand a thing he said this entire semester, weird obsession with chatgpt that is highkey making him go insane. he actually sucks 0/10 recommend
Actually a great prof. Take his class if you can. Explains things clearly and makes lectures interesting. His ChatGPT thing is cool and keeps the class modern. Learned a lot this semester. Easy 10/10 recommend.
Take this class. The course is focused on thoughtful discussion and balanced perspectives. The midterm and final were fair and reasonable. His interest in AI is engaging and adds a modern edge to the material. Lectures are passionate, focused, and genuinely interesting, with creative examples that keep things entertaining and memorable.
DO NOT TAKE IF NOT REQUIRED! His tests were difficult and worded weirdly and he adds 'this was not discussed in lecture' to trick us but it harms us more then good. His lectures are filled with ai and tiktoks and are taken away from the actual point and his teaching isn't in favour of students succeeding rather tricking us and warning about ai.
this class genuinely brought me so much stress I did not know I could have. I studied for 12+ hours daily for 3 days and total of 3 hour sleep daily for his exam just for it to be more confusing then expected. I read the textbook, notes, flashcards active recall and all did not help. this was not discussed in lecture question did not help either
this class brought my GPA down and made me switch out of the political science program completely. DO NOT TAKE. i have never experienced so much stress in my life up until this point
prof recommended we watched the video lectures online instead of his own lectures as it gave him an excuse to discuss ai and tiktoks
i did not learn anything in this class, i cried to my mom about this class more than when my bf broke up with me.
this class gave me so much stress it made me geniunely want to switch schools
this class caused me so much stress i had to drop it for my mental health
I was so lost this semsester in this class and this class only, future first years, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Didn't think that I signed up for a class that's all about AI but here we are.
i cried while thinking about writing this rating. that says enough.
Well structured and fair class, if you review the lectures should be no problem to get a good grade
Easy course if you pay attention, lots of practice questions and video lectures as back-up. Tiktoks make the class entertaining
Take this class. The course is actually well-structured and fair. Exams were reasonable. His interest in AI makes things more interesting, not weird. Lectures are passionate, engaging, and creative, and he keeps the class entertaining instead of boring.
Take CEL if you can, very rewarding experience and lots of chances to revise and resubmit written work - Great class!!!
Take this class for sure. The material is solid and not pushed in any weird direction. Essay was very clear and easy. Lectures are energetic, funny, and keep your attention the whole time.
If these TAs don't stop giving false reviews I will actually send a report to the university
Easy bird course, never went to class and still destroyed the midterm and final - hihgly reccomend
Great AI course - lots of options, easy papers and final
Contrary to the reviews on this page, attendance IS MANDATORY. you had to go on thursdays until just before midterms when professor switched it to tuesday and thursday when he noticed a lack of attendance (I wonder why)
Honestly take this class. I took it remotely and it was super easy. Lots of options for assignments, nothing stressful. Lectures were fun and never boring, he made it interesting. Overall a good time and an easy win.
this class is not preparing me for second year, I am debating switching into BMOS instead
yo can the ta's actually grade our papers and finals instead of writing these reviews that reflect nothing of the course LOL
This class was honestly a breeze. Took it online, workload was light, and nothing felt overwhelming. Tons of flexibility, clear expectations, and it was actually kinda fun. Perfect if you want something low-effort that still feels worth it.
Great course overall. Lectures were actually cool, not dry, and the real-world AI stuff mixed with CEL made it way more interesting than a normal class. Definitely kept it fun instead of feeling like a chore.
first off this class wasn't a breeze, second off you couldn't have taken it online as there was MANDATORY IN PERSON ATTENDANCE. kindly explain where you found this information, or better yet get to marking our essays!!!
Awesome class. Covered a lot of different topics and approaches, and it took a bit to get the hang of things, but the revise-and-resubmit papers made it way easier to improve and actually learn.
The essay proposal was actually super helpful and made the final way easier. Getting feedback early saved a ton of stress and helped everything come together in the end.
Awesome class with a lot of different topics and approaches. Took a minute to get the hang of it, but the revise-and-resubmit papers actually helped a lot and made it way less stressful. Did a policy brief and it was actually really useful. Great skill to have, easy to reference later, and the prof is chill — solid for rec letters too.
The essay proposal was clutch. It made the final paper way easier since you already had feedback and a clear direction. Felt way more doable than just being thrown into it.
Lots of real-world examples and you could even do AI-only assignments, which was cool. Essay topics were actually fun and relevant, not boring academic stuff. Overall way more engaging than expected.
Did a policy brief and it was actually super useful. Felt practical, not busy work. Prof was chill and definitely someone you'd want writing a reference letter.
Awesome class overall. Covered a bunch of different topics with different approaches. Took a bit to get at first, but revise-and-resubmit papers helped a lot.. Policy brief was actually useful (good for rec letters). Real-world AI examples, fun essay topics, easy video debate, chill in-person exam, and weekly group work that wasn't bad at all.
Great class tbh. Lots of real-world examples, fun essay topics, and AI-only assignments which were actually interesting. Proposal helped a lot with the final, policy brief was useful, and exams were a breeze. Weekly group work but low stress overall.
A very fair prof. Dan cares more about whether you engage with the content versus if you're objectively right. Put in the time and work and it's going to be very hard to do bad in his courses. By no means is he a "bird" prof (not that I think those even exist in all honesty), but all he literally looks for is clear, constructive engagement.
We got our EBO (Essay Outlines) marked back two weeks before the essay was actually due when it was promised to be returned earlier. Really did not help when we couldn't ask our professor questions about the Essay rather be directed to the Political Science Association club for help instead
It was really hard to pay attention and stay on track in this class when it went off into random shpeals about AI
If you are considering political science here, just know that your required poli sci classes suck first year and get better as you go up. stay strong solider it'll be a long semester ahead of you.
great way to figure out about AI - no need to do an essay, weekly assignments and final exam - great course
All big intro courses with MC seem tricky, this one was great - optional attendance for bonus and lots of ai help if I needed it
good course, easy exam and CEL was easy grade - great course
midterm was hard but final was a breeze, essay marking takes a while - intro classes are mc - great course
great course, easy grading - lots of options
What an amazing professor. H goes in depth with the content, often using real-world examples that actually help you understand what he's talking about. Final was surprisingly easy, although the mid-term was tougher due to it being online. Essay was fun and interesting to research. Overall, a truly wonderful prof.
Take every class you possibly can with Dr. Bousfield. I would argue he is the best professor at Western. He gives you lots of options for how you want to complete the course based on your strengths, is very responsive to emails, is overall very flexible with deadlines, and is fair with grading. Absolute legend!
online midterm is made extremely complicated in order to "avoid cheating with ai" even though he uses ai for everything. Lectures are 120+ slides with videos, memes, and tiktoks that are all testable which is annoying. interesting stuff taught but very lecture heavy. Has flexible deadlines for essays with 10% penalty, which is still pretty great.
midterm is tough but final was easy. essay prep and essay submission strightforward. easy class
This prof is really is flooding his rate his prof with bots to boost his rating, really shows how bad he is stay away.
Easy course, midterm and final multiple choice, essay proposal and essay. Don't have to attend lecture, vids online-easy A
A lot is just his political opinion rather than actual teaching. He uses exactly the same thing from the book, so to achieve success just read the book, and empty spaces fill with notes content.
Take advantage of CEL if offered, great opportunity to get real world experience. Easy course if you choose the exam option!
