Stay away from burns! He's not clear at all, along w/ being unfair, rude & condescending. Lectures put me to sleep. Tests were full of tricks. Quizzes were ok. VERY strict grader on lab tests.

If you have another option for 1A, i'd change my LIFE schedule to take it. This guy is the most unhelpful condescending prof at sierra college. Don't take him for any class, 1A,1B or O-Chem. Tests are seemingly easy, until you get the score- horrible.

Dan Burns is by far one of better teachers I have had for Chemistry! Very organised, loves chemistry and challenges how you think. His lectures are sometimes hard to understand(esp if you havent read the chapter before class!), but makes extra effort to help those sincerely interested in learning.

Prof.Burns is actually a really good teacher.If you read the chapters b4 class it'll really simplify stuff for you.Also,he gives practice exams,labexams,quizes.He is willing to help.So as long as u study,and do your practice exams,ur golden.if u have a prob. w/him, its ur own fault for not studying!

Lectures fast and hard to follow, covers EVERYTHING in the chapters. Expects a lot out of students, long homework assignments and even longer labs at times. However, good practice tests and quizzes make the class easily passable, although most the class either dropped or failed =(

GREAT PROF. very fast in the lecture. labs are extremely hard. not an easy prof. droping rate is over 60%. really know what the heck he is talking about. has his own way of everything; learn to know them and you will be fine. LOVED his class. he will make you feel like stupid at first, but answers

Burns is great. If you read the chapter before class you'll be fine. I assure you that people who are whining about him did not do this. If you are willing to work he is the best gen-chem teacher there. Good luck study hard!

Burns' sylabus is clear, his grading is not. There's a definite air of favortism in the way he grades. He picks on some people more then others even when they present the exact same work! Expects you to know the material before the lecture on it and is condescending if you don't. He won't answer a question that he deems as an ignorant one.

I dropped Burns class partway into the semester, but I can verify that all the comments I read are very accurate. I don't like his superiority complex, and sometimes Christian undertones in his teaching. If you do all the work you'll do fine, however. But I do mean ALL the work, and then some.

He is very abrasive, and lacks patience. He seems like hes been teaching this course for WAY too long, and has himself grown bored with the same lecture. However, this is no excuse for his lackluster approach. Teaching should be about inspiring. The only thing he inspires students to do is to give up. No wonder theres a 60% rate of failure...

Hands down, the worst teacher I've ever had. I study a lot and I still managed to fail every test. (I eventually decided to withdraw because the class would have killed my 4.0 GPA.) Mr. Burns has a poor attitude and is frequently condescending to his students. His teaching style is rushed and his hand writing on the board is almost illegible.

Mr Burns is the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. He is rude and condescending. He plays favorites. Don't dare ask a question, or he will treat you like an idiot for the rest of the class and his tests are quite deceiving. I've never known a teacher who liked to take away points as much as Mr Burns. Do what you can to avoid taking his class

Hardest Class I've ever endured. If possible hold out to take Chem 1A with annother professor, or take 3A/3B serries if you feel like chemistry isnt a strong part of your life. I did all the homework, spent 30+ hours a week studying and barely got a C. Happy trails!

Likes to answer questions with "I believe it's in Chapter 5." He will not help you at all-you're on your own. Take Springsteel or Vanderbout in the summer if you can or go with 3A/3B. Seriously, why is this fool still teaching? He has no interest in educating anybody. Chemistry is interesting if you're taught right-Burns will just make you hate it.

This is without a doubt one of the hardest classes available at SC. He is not real helpful but he does not let the lectures and labs drone on too much so as to make you sleep. He is a great teacher, he just expects you to understand parts of the material BEFORE you enter the class (no joke).

He lets his own beliefs get in the way of his teaching: he believes you should already understand everything before you get into class, he believes that you should not work while taking this class, and he believes that the book will answer all his students questions. For 1A he is ridiculous but it's quite a different story for 1B.

Mr. Burns is an excellent teacher, and he doesn't cradle you like a baby like many instructors found at the community college level. This guy is straight-up, "real college" material. Chem. 1A is not too difficult a class, just more so time-consuming than anything else, and Burns will prepare you for when you get the heck out of Sierra.

Mr Burns is an excellent teacher. He tells u upfront what he wants. provide u with practice exams which are almost the same as the real ones. If u do not do well after that then it is ur fault not the teacher's. However, the class is hard and time consuming. Good luck.

There are good Chem teachers, Burns is not one of them. If you don't hear or don't understand something in lecture or lab, be prepared to be insulted if you ask questions, even in his office hour. He is unapproachable and discourages anything but superficial communication. Take Chem at another college unless you have another option at Sierra.

HORRIBLE! unclear, talks too fast, speaks 2 students as if they have a PhD in chem., too much work in a short amount of time, inconsiderate & not helpful @ all! I dropped because he wasnt helping me understand the material. I came to school to learn and Burns does NOT help you do that. DONT TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU KNOW CHEMISTRY VERY VERY WELL.

Mr. Burns was probably one of my most hardest teachers. Sure his class is hard and he sometimes dislikable and he makes you feel stupid sometimes, but he knows his stuff. Take advantage of the practice quizes and tests. They help alot. His lectures are boring, fell asleep alot, but it was in the morning. Overall, Burns is actually a good teacher.

The class definately requires WORK..as long as you do the prac stuff and read its not too bad. Burns does tend to make you feel stupid but once you get past your ego he is loads of help. All an all it wasn't a bad class and he is a good teacher. I totally think I should get extra credit for this =)

Mr. Burns does have very high standards for his teaching, but it is NOT unrealistic. He is always willing to help. In 1A I was a little intimidated by him, but once you get to know him and his teaching style, he is actually a very good teacher. The is a lot of work required to suceed in his class, but very rewarding in the end.

Definitely not the easiest teacher out there, but if you can stick it out, pay attention and don't be afraid to ask for help, the class shouldn't be a problem to pass. Chemistry itself isnt an easy subject and you can't go in there expecting an easy A or easy B. it takes a lot of time and work

Mr. Burns is not the easiest teacher, but be willing to work hard, listen closely, do all the homework, work out the practise exams and quizzes and you can pass. Burns seems distant at first, but will warm up. He wants you to do well, be serious about your study. Ask questions! Form study groups. You will know your chemistry and pass too.

Had this teacher for Chem 1A and Chem 1B. Difficult class, but do what Mr. Burns asks, all the homework, reading chapters, practise quizes and practise exams and you will know your chemistry and pass. Burns seems distant at first but will warm up. Ask questions, although he seems hard to approach.

Professor Burns expects you to come prepared. If you review the notes and prepare, you will be fine. He has you do a lot of tedious HW, if you can do the HW, you shouldn't have a problem passing this class. He gives you plenty of aids to succeed. Don't hate him because he didn't give you an A. You earn the A; work hard, you should receive it.

His class is hard and he expects you to do most of the learning by yourself. He will help, but only if he thinks you're putting in a serious effort, if he thinks you're not putting any effort in he won't put any effort into helping you. He really forces you to learn the concepts though, so if you are interested in the subject, he is good.

Despite the rumors that go around, Professor Burns isn't actually a terrible teacher. Sometimes he can be finicky on grading, and sometimes he can be a bit unapproachable, but he gives you practice quizzes and exams, sometimes nearly identical to the real thing, and as long as you do the work he sets out for you, you will get an A.

A really cool guy. He expects students to be serious about his class. At the first few weeks, he seems like try to make people drop the class. Actually he's helping you. Then when the last day to drop the class passed,he pays attention to stds who still survive and is willing to help out whenever you need.

Seriously? Quit whining. All the people who gave him bad ratings didn't ask for help. Once I asked him for help the first time, he was awesome one on one. Plus, once he can see that you work hard and won't quit or drop, he warms up a lot. Labs run long but they are the same ones every other class has to do. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS. Good class.

His class is tough. Yes this is chem 1a, but he is MUCH harder than other teachers. He grades pretty ridiculously. I got every answer right on a test and got an 86... Also, problems must be done HIS way even if your way is valid. That being said, he is very willing to help if you need it and he's a nice guy.

Yes Burns is not the most friendly in the beginning of class but he admires hard work and as long as he sees u trying he will be fine with u. Chem 1a is not easy period. His practice exams are identical to problems on the test. If you know that you should be fine. Also, know your sig figs. It will cost u. I got all the answers right & got like 50.

He is horrible teacher. Makes you feel stupid if you don't understand or ask a question, will not help you, relys far too heavily on slide notes without any verbal explanations. Can be helpful one on one, but if he doesn't like you, forget it. Very, very negative. Always telling the class they will fail. Take it with someone else if you can.

I took him for both Chem 1A & 1B. Read txt if you don't have someone elses tests/quizes. I aced the class and it was due to knowing someone who kept all their chem tests and quizzes from burn's class. Find tests/quizzes from ppl who already took him and you will get an A. Do the hw from the study guide bk. EASY. Just alot of work.

Uninspiring, robot of a teacher, should NOT be in the teaching profession. He does not do the ONE thing his job requires: make students think. Simply memorize and regurgitate answers. You will learn chemistry in this class, and be prepared for higher courses. That said, the class is extremely hard, don't take a full class load and this class. Use the practice tests. He will help you if you don't come off as not doing your work. A young earth creationist, briefly talked about it in chem1b, completely inappropriate and dishonest.

Hands down the worse teacher I have ever dealt with. Openly insulted students, to their face. when asked question's that he felt were beneath his level. (and everything short of Jesus is beneath his level) I am going for Chemical Engineering. A semester with Burns, left me hating Chemistry.

Mr. Burns's Chem 1A is without a doubt the hardest class I have ever had. Lectures are only moderately helpful, with the majority of learning being at home from book. Insane amounts of homework. Impossible to take with full load unless not working. He is helpful if approached at the right time. You come away from class knowing a lot and prepaired.

Degrading teacher, obviously hates his job and students. I have my degree and have taken chem before so I have some authority when I say he's irrationally hard. He refuses to help, even when asked. He has a 'ask your classmates' policy and teaches nothing. 120 slides in 1hr, only TALKS about problems, refuses to work them out. book is doesn't help.

WORST PROF EVER!!! I should've listened to the people who had him before and avoided him at all costs. He doesn't even teach. All he does is go through slides without even explaining them that much. And his tests and quizzes are worth so many points it's ridiculous. He grades labs very harshly and tests and quizzes for that matter.

Burn's lectures are long and boring and you don't learn anything because he just goes through the slides very quickly and doesn't explain anything well. He grades hard on tests and quizzes. He makes tests much harder than practice tests and homework so you can really prepare for a test. And he preaches his religious beliefs in the classroom.

Burns is a tough love kind of teacher, lectures are clear+precise if u read beforehand. The pace is fast so keep up! He is more than happy to answer questions in his OFFICE HOURS,he may make u feel a bit silly,but he wants YOU to generate an answer,u will be asked to THINK! This chemistry class is definitely hard (but chemistry is hard). However, if you are willing to work hard, come to class every day, read the book, do all the practice quizzes and tests and ask questions, you will do well. I did all of the above and earned As in both Chem 1A and Chem 1B. Mr. Burns is a nice teacher but also fair.

Burns is very difficult. His lectures are near useless unless you teach yourself. He flies through the slides and explains little. He is a very picky grader and is very harsh. You're more likely to get some snide remark then to get any help. The homework is pointless since you turn it in with the test so you don?t get feedback.

One hour and 20 minutes for a lecture is utterly pointless. Especially when Dan Burns plans to go through about 150 powerpoint slides. He will spend about an hour on the first 30....then look at the clock and click and talk as fast as possible to get through all of them....a waste of his and my time.

The people who complain in his class are the people who dont pay attention or do ANY work, then they get mad at him because he "doesnt teach" or "doesnt help". i got an A in his class and its not hard. just do the assigned work and pay attention when he tells you info and you will be FINE

Burns is extremely difficult and the class is very fast-paced. He does not like answering student questions and can be quite condescending. If you prove yourself to be intellegent and engaged, he will be easier on you. Overall, ther most difficult class I've taken at Sierra.

I thoroughly enjoyed taking general chemistry with Burns. It is very work intensive, as any chemistry class should be. I recommend you take general chemistry with Burns if you plan to take it. He certainly loves what he does.

Prof Burns is one of my favorites. I took 1A /1B and for sure his teaching style and grading is very peculiar and systematic to get used to.He gives out practice lab exams and tests that are almost identical to actual. Work through problems with tutors and study groups. Moving as a unit makes you stronger as an individual. Come at me bro!

Knows his stuff, but forgets that students are learning this for the first time & will breeze through lecture way too fast. Recommend going to see the tutor & form study groups. Practice exams are quite similar to the actual exams.

Does this man know how to explain ANYTHING? I dropped out at the beginning, along with more than half the class, because he just wasn't clear! He doesn't tell students what he wants. He doesn't explain what you are supposed to be doing. His TEXTBOOKS teach the class for him. It was ridiculous. Do NOT take him, good student or not, it won't matter.

Professor Burns is extremely knowledgeable, but I think he has been teaching too long. His lectures pretty much are just the information in the book regurgitated at 100 mph. He is clearly no longer passionate about his job, and just goes through the motions of teaching at light speed. You will get more from tutors and study groups than from him.

BE HONEST! Professor Burns is KIND. His exams are really related with what you study from him. If you pay attention and do hw, for sure you can have good grades. However, LAB is the huge problem of him. He is rarely with you in the LAB, and he seems to be hard in lab grading. If you have any questions in the lab, you may have to come to his office.

I studied Chem 1A of Professor Burns and got an B+.He's a good instructor.But the only thing I think he need to improve is his LAB.He seems to be very hard to understand in his Lab.He is not often with you in the Lab but mostly in his office.When you bring your lab note to grade, he may point out where you wrong without any explanations.

Burns will be a PERFECT instructor if he changes his lab teaching skill.I hope he could be with us in the lab more often, and explain for us more clear(procedure and calculation). Hope for his easier lab grading too. His FINAL is an optional BIG DEAL (300 900 or 100points). However, I think it would be much better with MULTIPLE CHOICE. Sincerely!

Professor Burns is a nice teacher. If you really put your mind to his class, you'll be fine. Lab is way more difficult than lecture, you'd better get graded before the last day to have more time to correct the mistakes that he points out. All exams, quizzes and lab exams are quite similar with the sample ones. I love his class!

Chemistry 1A is not an easy class, it requires exensive studying!!! if you do not commit to this class you will end up like the rest of the people complaining. the professor does everything he shoud to help you. he is willing to help you, ONLY IF YOU TAKE THE TIME FOR IT. Lab is the hard part, but he is always there to answer questions

He just flies through all the slides, so forget about letting concepts sink in. We went through at least 3 to 4 concepts a day (and at least 120 pwrtpnt slides on average) - ridiculous. Most of the students had to turn to youtube or other sources of self study, because his lectures were incomprehensible with the speed he was going.

Great Chemist terrible teacher. Provides no help. Lectures are useless. very condescending. grades EXTREMELY HARD. will not do a single example of a problem all semester. the slides also contain no example. yet most of the class is math based. This guy ruined my excitement for chemistry. Take others advise, know what you are getting yourself into

I loved this class! Mr. Burns is one of most helpful nicest profs I have ever had. He grades tough but gives you the prior semesters practice exams and quizes to study and do before tests. Other Chem profs don't do that. And it is Chem. it is going to be hard. He is willing to help you if you ask! I only wish he was teaching chem 5 also!!

The guy's an enigma. He seems cruel and unusual at times, then others he's like the nicest guy around. Seriously hardest class think ive ever had. Lecture is the speed of light, so if you have the time, read the ch. before class. Ridiculous amount of hwk. You gotta get on his good side so you can go ask him stuff you dont understand.

The worst teacher I've ever had. Forget trying to understand topics in lecture; he speeds through the slides and doesn't do examples. He's not very approachable for questions. This is coming from a technical major with much more difficult classes than gen chem. Expect to be utilizing Khan Academy and spending A LOT of time on homework.

He seems short, condescending, and unapproachable at first. He's a good teacher, he just wants you to put in the time and effort to actually learn and retain the information. Once he sees your effort, he's more helpful. Read. Study. Ask questions. He gives practice quizzes and tests are almost verbatim to the actual quizzes and exams. Study those!

Worst prof I've ever had. Seems to actively try to weed out students. Communication of expectations is opaque at best. Be prepared to study a ton and teach yourself everything out of the book. Chem 1Y is a must so you can find out about all his changes to expectations in lecture notes/textbook. Hard grader, don't count on partial credit.

Mr.Burns is one of a kind.He will seem like a knowitall,and by no means an easy professor,yet if he sees you personally putting in the effort and communicating with him actively,you're more than likely to succeed.Of course, diligent studying of lecture notes,book,and his practice quizzes/tests are a MUST!Don't be discouraged! One of, if not the most difficult class I've ever taken. He isn't a bad professor, per se, but he doesn't exactly radiate helpfulness and warmth. He does provide extremely helpful practice quizzes and exams, but is also a really tough grader; partial credit is a rare gift. Highs and lows, take the course and be happily rid of it.

I really like Mr. Burns. Compared to other chem teachers I have had his class is much more structured. You KNOW what will be on the test and quizzes if you do his practice things he gives you. That said it's still a chem class, so be prepared to study a LOT. While he reviews the materials in class you are already expected to have read the chapters.

I've never met a man so painfully strict yet delightfully pleasant.Yes he's hard, but if you invest time and study the material (don't just do the hw once)you'll do fine. He always smiles when he helps me with chem, no matter how many times I ask him to clarify things. He's a fantastic teacher, and I hope I never have to take him again.

This professor wants you to know the information inside out. Gives practice exams & quizzes, which are helpful but will still find a way to get you confused on the real deal. If you will take this professor, make sure to take Chemistry 1Y because he gives tips on how everything needs to be done to get an A in his class.

Awful. CHEM 1Y isn't a problem solving class at all; it is just to show you the format for your answers on tests and quizzes because you lose points otherwise. Don't take his first lab period; those students get screwed. The class is geared for those who can regurgitate exactly what was on past exams. These posts are all for extra credit.

Don't listen to the horrible comments on here. You know they were written by students who took Burns' class without any drive or effort. Admit it, he's a good teacher. He's extremely knowledgable and is more than willing to help if YOU come to HIM. He doesn't spoon-feed you, and you shouldn't expect him to. We're in college. He's tough but fair.

Its a hard class, and he is a really tough grader. You will need to read the book because the material is covered really fast in lecture. Def join a study group and be prepared to put in a lot of time and work.

Im still in his class currently, it is by all means a difficult course but that is the nature of the subject. He can be extremely helpful or can make you feel kinda dumb. i Believe it depends on the questions you ask and if you have attempted to try to figure it out your self before hand

I use to think Rate My professor is always true but in this case I found it to be not so true. He's rating should be over 4. Just hang on for a few weeks and learn his way of teaching than you may never want to leave his class. Don't judge him or compare him to other teachers and definitely do not listen to negative students.

He is an awesome teacher. He is been teaching for 36 years! He knows his materials. You should take his class before he retire. He gives practice tests which are very helpful. They make me study more and make me want to get A on his tests. If you want to get a good great and have fun studying this is the class to do so.

This class is hard, and you should already know that any Chem class after Chem1a is tough! Professor Burns doesnt seem approachable but you gotta get over the barrier and be eager to ask him questions. His practice tests are very helpful and his lab exams are really not difficult! Labs are difficult and he grades harshly on those! WORK HARD!

He cares about his class and loves to teach. He is great when he connects the class material to the real world. He knows the general chemistry like back of his hand. After finishing his class you not only learned chemistry but you should feel like professor Burns has made you a stronger student.

Mr. Burns knows his stuff, that much is very clear. The problem is that he is very unforgiving when it comes to grading. Even if you get the correct answer but mess up on one small part, it'll coast you. Be prepared to work in this class because it's going to be a rough ride.

Mr. Burns became the bane of my existence quickly into the term. he goes out of his way to make students miserable through his unclear directions and ridiculous expectations. If you take this class be prepared to hate your life for the ENTIRE term. All of this would be forgivable if he graded in any measure of fairness. He gives no partial credit.

Difficult. Expect a lot of grinding (in the RPG sense), as there is a lot of homework. He provides practice quizzes and exams, and tells you how to do them right, if you take the problem solving class. But don't expect to get the actual exams right. He wants his exams done completely right. Just play by his rules and you might get through.

Burns caters to the extremely proactive student. He keeps several chapters ahead of the exam schedule and expects you to do the same. 99% of the students aren't keeping pace, and as a result the lectures become a waste of time. It is educational Darwinism and you will only have a positive experience if you stay ahead of the curve. (Literally)

I should begin by saying that this class is definitely brutal. If you take this class, prepare to feel intellectually belittled and try to maintain a sense of humor about your GPA. Do all the practice exams and quizzes. Make sure you don't miss lecture. Read EVERYTHING. Go to Kahn Academy. Form a study group. Take T/R Lab. 1Y is CRUCIAL for the A.

Overall..a joke. Top 3 hardest classes I've ever taken based on courseload. All my free time is devoted to hw/studying for this class and i'm still never caught up. Expected to know/understand material before it is taught. Can be condescending at times. 1Y is only useful for knowing how to put your answers on tests/quizzes to get credit.

His guy is like Sheldon cooper on the Big Bang theory but he differs in That he believes in god and is part of the Christian club at Sierra college and is not funny . He teaching style is to teach you how to bookeep not to learn and utilize your knowledge. Very vague in directions but knowledgable on the subject, just not real life.

Although he may seem unapproachable, he is more-than willing to help you, if you put the time into it. He is funny and very knowledgeable. Even though the class is hard, it is do-able if you put the time/effort into it. Take 1Y to gain insight on how he wants you to do your work on tests/quizzes. Exams/quizzes are same. The class is a MUST!

This class is tough as it is, but Prof. Burns teaching style is very hard to understand. To do well in this class you need to read the textbook and compare it to his lecture information. Do the homework, take the 1Y class with it and ask him questions if you are confused, he will explain it better if you ask. He is a nice guy, just confusing.

Burns is always more than willing to help if you come to him. Those who complain about him not being clear about what he expects simply aren't putting the effort in to seek out that help. Yes, he's a tough teacher, but his class is worthwhile. Just stay on top of your work, don't be afraid to go to him for help, and you'll be just fine.

Isn't as hard as portrayed: Only difficult because people don't think outside of the box during exams. If you had hard time in Chemistry 1A; REVIEW FOR YOUR OWN GOOD before taking this class. He is very approachable and easy to talk to (Hint: He hates being asked 1A questions).

Saying he's Horrible Professor would be an understatement. In order to get an A in this class make sure you have 48 hours to study in a day. He is a dinosaur that has been living for about 160million years. Gives unclear directions. Hard to follow. While in class I was very lost along with about the other 60 faces. But he is nice.

Mr. Burns is not nearly as bad as every one says he is. He is extremely knowledgeable in the field of chemistry and there are many great learning opportunities if you take advantage. I received an A in his class because i worked hard and practiced good time management. If you have these skills you should do great.

THIS CLASS IS NO JOKE, its hard, but Burns is really helpful if you ask him for help. He is very reasonable on test bc gives practice exams that are very similar to the tests and he answers all your questions. These bad comments are all from ppl who dropped. very knowledgeable and super nice. def take him coz the summer teacher is just horrible.

Okay I'll keep it real. This will be one of the hardest classes you take. He doesn't drop his high standards for the lazy kids. Simply review the practice exams multiple times, ask questions, join 1Y(DO IT), turn in labs on time = you get an A. The guy is a nice person but hard teacher. The class will prepare you for even harder classes later on.

This was the hardest class i have ever taken. He can be confusing at times, but if you approach him one on one he will help you. I found sometimes i had to ask very precise questions in order to get helpful answers. He gives practice tests and quizzes, 1Y is a must. while it was very challenging, Burns turned me into a better student.

Teaching, or lack there of, is almost comical if it wasn't for that fact I need to pass the class. He explains nothing during lecture or lab unless you approach him and ask specific questions. Expect labs/exams to cover information not in the textbook.

How to get an A: Join 1Y (mandatory). Take T/R lab. Read chapters ahead of lecture, and do all HW. Exams all very similar (recycled from past years), so get many past exams for practice. Labs very difficult; find a way to get help. Do well on quizzes (they replace worst exam; first and last exam = difficult). ASK if unsure; he is approachable.

Burns: doesn't teach, is condescending, is VERY unclear on lab writeups, is inconsistent with grading. Practice from old exams if you can get them. Get a group of friends to work on labs together. Lab is the hardest part. He gives partial credit when he feels like. Get on his good side. Good luck. You can get through it, but it sucks. Know redox!

My burns gets a bad rap. He is not a very clear teacher. His grading is very inconsistent, and he will be hard on you for just about everything you do. However, he has been doing this for 40 yrs and knows chem like the back of his hand. If you need help he is very willing, however if you aren't willing to put in the work then you will fail.

It is a very hard class but when you are done, you have learned a lot of material. It is very important to read ahead before the class lectures. Chem 1Y, the problem solving class, is very helpful. He knows the subject well and is very easy to approach, but he won't just tell you how. He wants you to work through the problem.

He gives an obscene amount of HW. There is more cheating in this class than any other I have seen. His lectures are unclear because he just talks rather than writing down his thoughts on the blackboard. His power points are not helpful at all. BTW I am physics major who went through all physics and mathematics at Sierra and was top of the class.

He needs to be teaching both chemistries, he is patient and so kind. He will work with you until you know the information. If you ask him questions he will answer every single one of them. He goes a lot slower in class and gives you extra time on test! He always makes sure you understand the information well enough! Wonderful teacher.
