Dr. Burton was the deciding factor in my choosing my minor. I had never studied philosophy before and his one class made me minor in it. He totally rocks.

Dr. Burton ROCKS! Although he is a history professor he is a total science nerd, you might bump into him at a Star Trek convention dressed as a Clingon(?) He is super nice and will work with you if needed! But, please don't take his coffee...he bites, :)

If ever there was the perfect professor, Dr. Dan Burton would would perhaps top he list of them all. By far my favorite professor. He's charismatic, witty, and student involved as well as takes the study of history from subpar into a realm of entertainment. Other professors can well learn from him.

His lecture is very interesting. I never thought history would be so interesting. Good professor. one of my favorite course.exams are 50 multiple choises and essays are optional.

Funny guy. I laugh out loud every class (even if I'm the only one laughing). I thought history was crazy boring, but he made it very interesting.

This is one great man. He's a trekkie. He teaches really well and makes philosophy fun. The homeworks are the only bad thing. You have to read a few pages and do an online quiz. If you do the homeworks, read, and take notes, you will do well.

Doctor B. is one of the best professors in teh state of Alabama. He makes everything clear. As long as you go to class you will have an A+.

Extremely funny in his teachings, Dr. Burton is a top notch teacher. If you go to class and pay attention, you will do well on the tests. Pretty easy class. A lot of homework, though.

Dr. Burton is a great teacher with an almost cult-like following. I enjoyed his classes and if there is one piece of advice I would give to any of his current students it would be to do the essays on the tests.

Where to begin with Dr. Burton? He's an awesome teacher and keeps class very interesting. It will be a class you actually enjoy attending. However, you do have to put in the work for Dr. Burton including good work on your book reviews and thorough research if you're assigned a paper. That said, I'd still recommend Dr. Burton to anyone!

Dr. Burton has changed my entire view of history. Upon entering HI 101, I disliked history. Now, I love it. He makes class amazingly interesting. He is also hilarious-even on his tests! To make a good grade, you must attend class and read, read, read. Dr. Burton is a wonderful person and instructor. Taking this instructor is a must!

Dr. Burton is a really nice guy and very understanding. He would make a great mall Santa. He is a very good teacher and never makes class boring (except when you watch the documentaries). The homework is not hard at all and the books were actually really good. Just come to class and do they homework and you'll make an A.

Dr. Burton is the best teacher you could have at UNA. He know what he is talking about, and he is absolutely hilarious. He's always willing to help you, and gives tons of extra credit to make sure you do good in his class. There is a lot of reading required but its a college history class, so its not surprising. Take his class, you won't regret it!

i loved dr. burton he was the best professor i could ever have. im going to take as many classes of his. all you have to do is take notes and be sure to do the homework quizzes every week dont let them pill up. exams are easy.

I took both parts of my required history with Dr. Burton. I absolutely loved his class, and I am not really a history buff. He teaches things that are interesting and makes it easy to remember. You have to do homework quizzes after reading chapters in the book, but as long as you keep up with those and take notes in class you'll be fine.

I took Dr. Burton for HI 101 and 102. He is a wonderful teacher and gives you plenty of extra credit opprotunities. The readings are sort of a pain, but if you keep up with them you will do very well. Tests are not hard as long as you pay attention in class and do the homework

Dr. Burton is very fun. He knows a ton about what he is talking about. the book is only used for homeworks so you can just use the copy in the library. He picks out pretty awesome novels for you to read during the semester. He is funny and you will never want to miss a class.The tests are 70-80% from what he talks about in class.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

You only use the books for homeworks and essays are not required in 101. Which is awesome!!

Dr. Burton is by far the best professor I have had at UNA. His lectures are incredibly funny! Additionally, 80% of the exams are from the lectures.

SUCH A GREAT PROF. Srsly, I've taken him 3 times already and I love it. He is really into his subject and knows so much about it. He wants to help you pass. There are a lot of readings and homework but none of it is overwhelmingly difficult and you always have a long time to do it.

His lectures are fun and easy to follow. He tries not to assign the expensive textbooks, but you absolutely have to get or rent them. There's also extra credit sometime during the semester, he really cares about his students. I would totally take his class again!

Dr. Burton is a hysterical man and knows his stuff! Its not particularly easy but he definably made it fun. The only set back for some people is his lectures go the whole class but I guess if you're a history major you'll still enjoy it. Lots of reading and a few papers. Overall one of my favorite teachers so far!!

Danny B is an amazing professor. His class is super easy and he makes it fun to learn. He was there for me and very understanding when my sister in law was in the hospital. As long as youre not more than 10 minutes late, you wont have any trouble with tardies.

I took Dr. Burton in both fall and spring because I loved his class and him as a person so much. If you even slightly pay attention you'll pass easily. I would take his class as many times as I could.

I've remembered more with Dr. Burton than with any other history teacher. I really lucked out. He makes the lectures memorable and fun and I can tell he sincerely cares about the subject and us! Most fun exams I've ever had. Totally taking him next semester.

Borderlands of science and religion was not only fun but also a self assessment. Dr. Burton also has a STEM background in physics. It allows him to have real depth. If I could recommend ANYTHING it would be to add Sam Harris book Free Will to the reading list for a supplement on observer bias.

Definitely the best history teacher I've had. The lectures are very enjoyable to listen to. The tests are somewhat challenging but if you do the homework you will come out with a good grade.

He's the best teacher and advisor! He cares about everyone! As long as you show him you're trying he'll help you 100% He does weekly pop quizzes but between you and me he is forgetful so sometimes it's just "True or False: I showed up to class today" he hands out extra credit so as long as you show up and do the work there is no way you'll fail!

Dr. Burton is by far one of my favorite teachers. He truly cares about his students and will help in any way. He makes jokes and keeps the information fun to learn. Some of his slides on power point are hilarious. He gives numerous attempts on quizzes, and lots of extra credit. Show up, do some studying and you will do great.

Dr. Burton was a great history prof. Lots of lectures, but they were easy to follow. Made the occasional reference to Doctor Who and a few other cool things if that's something you're into. Plenty of opportunity for bonus points. As long as you do the HW (which he gives plenty of time for) and spend a bit of time studying for tests, you'll do fine.

TAKE BURTON!!! His class is amazing, especially if you like history. He makes history like a story and is very entertaining. I ALWAYS wanted to go to this class, which is good because attendance is graded. 3 major tests including the final, but they have optional essays and lots of bonus points. HW is easy, about 5-15 questions per week.

Very engaging teacher and keeps the class interesting by incorporating bizarre random facts of history that normal people don't talk about. Likes to give bonus points. Tests are pretty easy but cover a lot of material. Look over your notes before the exam and you should be fine.

He's really entertaining and makes it easy to stay engaged in his lectures, which is important because exams are purely based on the content in lectures. If you write good notes and study them before the exam you should be fine.

DEFINITELY TAKE DR. BURTON! Hes a very easy teacher. He is engaging, hes accessible outside of class, hes super nice and willing to help in any way he can. If you dont come to class to listen to lectures you wont pass, but if you show up youll get an easy A. Come to class, take notes, do the homeworks and youll breeze right through!

He is the BEST! I love Dr. Burton and would totally recommend for History 101. Three exams, one homework per week, and lectures in class are mandatory. He gives tons of bonus points and his exams are super easy if you pay attention to the lectures and take good notes! TOTALLY RECOMMEND!

Dr. Dan is one of my favorite teachers ever. He is hilarious and really cares for his students. He's admittedly hard to contact outside of class, but you can bring up any questions and concerns to him after class.

He was awesome. He really cares about his students and wants us to enjoy learning, so he found the most interesting educational videos and lectures for us to watch. He was super chill and fast to get back to me. As long as you do the work you'll be fine. I loved this class!

One of my favorite professor thus far at UNA. He is very lenient on grading and has accepted many of my grades late for full credit. He assigns reading at the beginning of the semester, and many homework assignments are based on reading, but it is easily doable without reading. Tests are based mostly on lecture, and his lectures are fun. Great guy.

I love Burton! He is such a funny guy and he gives great lectures. If you enjoy history, I would highly recommend his class. As someone who doesn't enjoy history, he made the subject very enjoyable. There is a lot of work with the class, but it's manageable as long as you do it constantly. Also, make sure to take notes his class is very lecture-based.

I absoultely love Dr. Burton. His lectures are one of the most engaging things ever. He teaches the parts of history that he really enjoys which makes the lectures all that more interesting. The tests really matter, but the volume of homework that he gives makes it easy to keep a good grade if you aren't good at tests. ALL HAIL BURTON

I LOVED Burtons class!!! I would absolutely recomend his to anyone. He is funny and makes learning about history so interesting! He does get sick a lot so we will go a week or two without any class. There are a lot of homeworks but theyre all enjoyable and he doesn't count off if its late. If you follow the material as you go it'll be super easy!

Literally the nicest man on Earth. Paying attention to the lectures is imperative to success in the course, about 85-90% of the exams are based off of the lectures. Do the homework it will help your grade. He is so nice and his lectures are very engaging. 10/10!

Dr. Burton makes history engaging. Attend class, take notes, and you'll do well. unstuck study was a big help for studying and preparing for exams. Overall, a great class with a professor who genuinely cares about student success.

Such a funny guy. I don't know what sort of black magic was performed on me, but Dr. Burton actually managed to make history interesting and fun... Everything in this class is very well done and there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. If you're taking in-person history here, please go with Burton.
