Most of my issues with his class stems from my reluctance to come prepared. Class time- about an hour and a half, twice a week- was dedicated to going over the reading. If you didn't already do the reading, you didn't get much out of being there. Hard to stay engaged the whole class time. Did give me an extension on a paper though- he seems nice.

Prof Clark is really caring and clearly wants his students to learn and do well. Participation and attendance are important for grade but I have bad anxiety and he really worked with me to feel comfortable and gave me a fair grade. Not my first choice for class but ended up being interesting because of Professor Clark. Oral hist project was fun

Working Detroit was a stellar class with Prof. Clark. All of the class reading is necessary (even the supplementary reading to be honest) but understanding it all is needed to participate in the frequent discussions and perform well on essays. You need to read a LOT to have a good time in this class. The oral history project is work, but fun.

Prof Clark was very understanding and had a very flexible workload. You always knew what he was expecting of you from assignments/exams and he gave very helpful/uplifting feedback. Clearly tried his best to make lectures entertaining and involved.

He is very nice and caring guy he does a great job in lectures and he actually gives a damn about you. But he does give you papers you have to do with a lot of material required which isn't easy and it can be time consuming but he's a great guy.

Do not take this class if you think it will be an easy class just to cover a Gen Ed. You have to be FREAKISHLY passionate about history and read hundreds of pages to survive the long boring lectures from this teacher. I would rather watch paint dry. You will be assigned essays EVERY week and you have to write professionally or he will give you Ds.
