Hardest math class I've ever taken but Clegg is definitely the coolest math teacher I've had so far.
Super nice teacher. If you don't take his class, that's too bad. You will regret!!
Great Teacher
Cool teacher, very young! looks 22-23! very tough, tests are fair but damn difficult. however, if u do your shi!t and pay attention it's all good... i wish he dropped those damn homework assignments, some took me the entire weekend to do
Awesome teacher with the ability to make a complex problem simple. He works with you until you understand. Great classroom attitude--no question is a stupid question.
Great teaching style, willing to help with any questions. Makes difficult material very easy to understand. Teaches the reason behind the formulas so memorization is not necessary. Fun to listen to; it was a blast being in his class.

He's pretty nice. I took him for both math 141 and 205, he explains well the problems and questions. Do your homework because tests are similar w/ it. Great attitude, very helpful!
I have only been at Palomar for one year, but I would rate Mr. Clegg my favorite teacher so far. He makes the class fun by and he explains the material very well. He also looks like hes in his 20's and he like to talk about the show, "The Simpsons.&
great teacher. explains topics pretty thoroughly. follow his notes and you're set. highly recommend him. he makes it interesting
Ive taken this math class 3 times and failed twice. I got a A in his class and I actually enjoyed it. He's a great teacher and I would love to take his class again.
HATE his teaching style- i dont care how cute , patient &charming.but it's sporatic. reviews after assignments but moves on B4 anyone can grasp a concept. Tries very hard, but test level outweighs comprehension of the majority byfar!Views TRIG from concepts beyond the class level & expects the same
great personality,HATE his teaching style. Tests are brutal! most are barely passing. If you take him, you should already have a great concept of the material & you'll appreciate a new perspective. Otherwise, take only as a last resort. Not entertaining, I think teaching is killing his spirit
professor is funny and really nice, but tests are hard for the level and class moves really fast. Homework is easy though. I would definetly take another class by this professor (if I had to choose)...
I think hes an alright teacher. You have to turn in the homework he assigns before the test. He assigns about 25 problems each time. If you dont understand something just ask him,he is good at explaining so you understand. Its pretty straightforward as what he teaches will go on the test.
Dan is a very good instuctor.. I really enjoyed his class.
Dan is absolutely the best math teacher at palomar. If you have the option of taking him over another teacher, I would highly recommend picking Dan's class. His tests are fair and he really teaches for the students to understand, plus he is just a cool guy.
overall he is a pretty good teacher. Ocassionally he makes you think beyond what you normally would. I think its worth taking with him. He also looks like a younger Niles from Fraiser.
i miss Dan! You may think a professor is a Nazi until you get one who is worse!
GREAT teacher! Tests don't have surprises so do your hw and study and you'll do fine. Moves very methodically so you can understand and teaches you how to approach a problem and recognize what to do, unlike a lot of teachers. I hate math but he made it very tolerable, just ask ?'s when you need to.
Dan is the best!! He makes calculus easier and pretty fun! I am really glad I had him as a teacher. It is still a hard class, but he puts in language you can understand. If you can, take his class!!
He prepared me for math 60. Plus he is hot and patient.
Dan was great! and his teaching style worked really well for me. his exams tend to have some short answers so make sure you understand the concepts. i transferred to a 4-year university for 2nd semester calc and his class segued perfectly. great prepa
This class was NOT easy. Most of what was explained in class had nothing to do with homework problems. There are take-home portions, but the tests are not easy. They are also VERY long with each problem having 3 or 4 parts. Be prepared to work hard in this class, it's not easy at all!
Dan was very helpful. Quizzes were given each class session, and random ones were collected. It might not sound fun, but it actually helps students understand the material; it makes you prepared each night before the exam. He gave HW every night but didn't collect it, and he gives a study guide at least a week prior to the exam. very cool dude!
I don't think I've ever had so much fun in a class. Obviously loves his subject - he gives cool peripheral info, plus he is really funny. He's more like a friend than a teacher, but he won't baby you; you'll get the grade you deserve. His explanative powers are excellent, and his willingness to help will get you through. _Highly_ recommended.
Makes everything seem easy....great teacher...a natural....take Dan if you want to get trig. down.
Rare is it that you find a math teacher who not only knows their stuff, but is also fun and interesting in how they present it. Dan is one of those guys. Knows his subject very well, takes the time to explain it. The tests follow the study guide. Lots of HW but it's never collected. Just a really cool math teacher, and thats saying something.
If you need to take Bus.Calc. this is your teacher. I have never had so much fun in a math class before. Makes the subject very easy to learn. If I needed to take another math class at Palomar it would have to be with Dan. Tests are somewhat difficult, but if you show up each day, ask questions and do the homework you'll do fine. I got an A!
Dan is a great teacher. Very willing to help you out. Tests are a bit hard and long, but as long as you are prepared, very manageable. I highly recommend Dan. Makes the subject interesting.
I heard that trig was tough but Dan made it pretty easy to understand. He is very straight forward and you will never see a curve-ball problem on a test unless it's for extra credit. The only thing I didn't like is that he doesn't collect homework..and sometimes that can save you.Other than that he is fun and keeps the class up beat.Lots of laughs.
i was not at all excited about taking trig. i tried to take it before but had to drop b/c i'd get lost with the instructor. dan makes it very easy. the way he organizes the class makes it a lot easier to understand. if you do the homework, the quizzes/tests will be pretty simple. just be on time so you dont miss the quizzes, b/c thats what got me.
At first i did not like his teaching style because he is not as stuctured as i prefer, but he did grow on me. I enjoy math so the class was not that tough... Don't complain, just accept it!!!
He made math fun and easier than other teachers have.
AWESOME TEACHER! Aweomse guy! Just great. Easy going, makes the class comfortable. Pushes participation, in groups and individually. Truly wants you to really learn and applies real life situations to math. DEFINITELY recommend; I'm going to take him again for MATH120 (statistics).
Cool Guy and Great Teacher!
Dan's the best. Calc 2 was tough but he was supportive to our whole class and tried to help us out a lot. Go to his office hours! He's so cool and fun to talk to. Oh yeah, tests are so-so. Do the homework and the written assignments (those can boost your grade at the end a lot). It's hard but he'll try not to torture you ;) He's hot too =)
He is a fun teacher who does not get mad or annoyed at his students ever (even if they are annoying). He is a good teacher although a little hard to take notes from. Tests are fair, no surprises, but hard and he doesn't curve. There is something about this man though- damn! :)
Dan is a great math teacher. The first day of class he told us that we would love math by the time we were done, and I have to say he was quite close to correct. I really dont mind math at all anymore.
This Guy is a GREAT GREAT math teacher. He never gets mad even when all of the students get annoying! He is always available for help, and has made me like Math more than ever.
"Math Man Dan" is everything anyone could ever want in a teacher. He's extremely good-natured, very interesting, and has a wonderful sense of humor. Besides, he's TOTALLY CUTE!!! (I love his laugh!) Dan tries his best to make math fun, even for those of us who aren't math fans. He even has his own math show on TV! How cool is that?
He is the best teacher I have EVER had! I am not a math person at all, and I got an A. And the book was free because it was written by him. Overall it was a great class!
Professor Clegg is a great teacher! His tests are hard, he gives you about 15 problems and they are long! We don't use a textbook, just his handouts. He's very helpful, he explains everything well and he's fair. It's a very hard class, but if you study and stick with it you'll do fine. I highly recommend taking him for math..he's really good.
took college alegbra and calc 2 from him. He really did help me to like math. I would take him again. he looks like a student; something about him makes him hot too ;) AY! He teaches well, is fun, and tests are fair.
If you have not had Mr. Clegg as a teacher, you should. Even if you dont like math, he has a way of making this subject interesting and fun. He is very helpfull and you can even watch him on TV! Gives a quiz in every class, but this really helps make the material sink in. No suprises on the tests either.
I defiantly recommend his class. He is very willing to help students and is very clear in the way he presents the material. Quizzes are given in every class, but it helps you remember what he thought. Plus there easy. He gives you as much info about tests as he can without giving you the exact answers. It’s a pretty easy A.
not only is dan clegg charming, but he is one of the best teachers at Palomar. He gives daily quizes but thats only for the student's benefit. Homework is optional but it does help. He is very patient and nice when you ask him a question.
he really does mean it when he says you will like trig by the end of the semester. HAA so funny. he's very clear and extremely helpful! i'm not saying it's gonna be super easy, any math class is not easy. homework's optional but DO IT, it helps! and quizzes are not too hard, and they're for your own benefit :) he is a GREAT teacher!! you rock dan!!
Lectures were good, and you get lots of test prep. Homework is optional, but if you finish all the problems you'll do well. This class definently made me a trig fan.
Dan's a phenomenal teacher: adept to engaging students in subject material, creates an interactive and colorful lecture (as long as students participate in discussion--yes, i mean math), and diffuses the mystery behind the science. Taking this course with dan was a blessing. Encouraged input and simplified word problems. Honestly, I now love math.
Best calculus instructor I ever had
Great teacher and I dislike math with a pasion. Very clear and helpful. Easly my best math instructor and palomar.
Great teacher and I dislike math with a pasion. Very clear and helpful. Easly my best math instructor and palomar.
Excellent teacher all around. Very willing to help out students who need it. Examples are well thought-out which makes learning the concepts much easier. Tests aren't breezy but very fair if you study. Homework is not mandatory, but DO IT, spends lots of time going over homework solutions so you can understand it fully. GREAT TEACHER!
Dan's class rocks!call him by his first name.asks at the begining of every class if you're a math fan yet.wants everyone to succeed.answers ALL questions.almost all HW is in book.gives alternate way of solving problems.very personable, supportive,is hot, easier to listen to(doesn't speak in monotone voice).I hate Math but I luv his class!!!
Dan is the best math teacher I have ever had. Math is my worst subject and Dan made Math 50 tolerable for me to survive! I still dislike math but I do understand it better since taking his class. SHOW UP FOR CLASS and pay attention and you will pass. Get help at the library tutor center and dont fall behind in H.W. because it is hard to catch up!
Dan is a great teacher! I would absolutely recommend taking him if you can work it in your schedule. His teaching methods are simple, making sure everyone understands. Attendance is only mandatory at the beginning of the semester and yes, homework is optional but recommended. I only wish he was teaching CALC fall semester!!!
He is a very good teacher. His teaching methods are clear and instructive, very easy to understand. You have to memorize the unit circle, but he makes it easy to do so. Study for the class, and it's hard not to get an A. Oh and he certainly keeps the class entertaining. Highly recommended.
Professor Clegg is by FAR the best math teacher I have ever had. He takes the time to slowly go through new material each class and spends the first half of class going over questions on the homework. He finally gave me some understanding on the subject and I now feel ready for math 60. TAKE HIM!
Dan Clegg is an awesome professor. He is young so he is a likeable teacher with a great sense of humor and personality. he knows his math, from low classes to high classes. he has very clear and understanding lectures and hw is optional but has short quizzes everyday, not all are collected though. definitely recommend him 100%!!
Absolutely take him for this class.I had failed trig 3 times prior to taking this class, I had never EVER understood math. He is an amazing teacher, I understand everything. He explains things very well and easy to understand. TEACHERS MATTER for math like this and he is perfect. I highly recommend him. And Im finally doing well in math!
Overall, I thought Dan was pretty cool. He did keep the class entertaining and was very approachable when you had a question. The one thing I really didn't like about him though was his tests. He made word problems count for about half of your test. So if your bad at word problems like me, you will probably struggle in his class.
Great professor! Makes learning the material interesting and easy. I found his tests to be fairly forgiving. one of the tests had an on-test extra credit problem and a take home extra credit problem worth an entire letter grade. If you do your homework and pay attention in class, the course is fairly painless. I AM A TRIG FAN NOW! TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
WARNING! If you want a boring professor without a sense of humor DO NOT take a class with Dan Clegg as a Professor. Easy going and nice, but don?t expect an easy A you'll get the grade you deserve. Be prepared to learn from a person that cares about mathematics and his students. Dan has a great teaching style and is very approachable.A++
Dan Clegg is an amazing teacher. His tests are fair and the homework isn't overwhelming. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! If you do so-so on tests but manage 90-100% on the homework, you wil pass the class easily. He is a very funny and witty guy. In our class he managed to reference fight club during a lecture! Very clever.
n pass the class easy... take him
great teacher.... he gives take home as extra credit..
If you appreciate a teacher who actually teaches and not just read from a book then you will love Dan.
SUPER AWESOME TEACHER! VERY CLEAR AND SUPER HELPFUL~KEEPS CLASS INTERSTING...DO HW AND U'LL BE FINE ON TESTS! WOULD DEF TAKE HIM AGAIN! HIGHLY RECOMEND TO ANYONE WHO HAS TROUBLE WITH MATH!!!!!! :] DAN'S THE MAN! WOOT WOOT!
As long as you go to class and study for the tests, you should be fine. The quizzes are misleading because they're easy but the tests will make you think.
Yeah, he's a fantastic teacher! I wish I could take him for all the rest if my math classes! If I was a chick I would totally do him =D
This guy loves to teach Trig and you can tell. He's an amazing teacher and will answer any question you have. He posts all the notes online if you miss a class and has office hours! I definitely recommend him!!! AND NO HOMEWORK REQUIRED! I went all semester doing no homework and got an A but that's because math is easy to me :)
Best professor at palomar in the 3 years I've been here. He cares about what he teaches, and is great at it! Class was a breeze.
Definitely got the grade I deserved. I will say this class was one of the best I've ever not passed. He's a fantastic teacher and class was never boring. I'll probably end up waiting a semester to retake trig with him :)
Amazing teacher! it's nearly impossible to fail this class, he makes it so easy! You get a study guide for every test and extra credit toward the end of the semester... study guides are exactly like the tests, he makes it so easy to do well in this class. Take him, you won't be sorry! Cute guy too.
Dan is a great teacher who explains concepts really well. Pay attention in class and do all the homework and you will do fine in the class. He gives a quiz everyday and collects them at random so be prepared. The tests are exactly like hw ?s and always has xc ?s. He also posts all class notes and answers to test for reference. Great teacher, easy A
Mr. Clegg was awesome! He's got a talent making math appear fun and easy. He's relaxed and always joking, and is rarely dull. (great for a topic such as math). I would easily recommend as the #1 pick when it comes to math. Tests reflect notes, and homework is 100% optional. I'd suggest still doing it though!
He is the best prof. ever.
HANDS DOWN! The BEST math proffesor AROUND ! super CLEAR and extra helpful!! Has a good personality and great teching skills! Highly recomend him! Too bad he doesnt teach math 60 :( homework is a must but totally worth doing it when it comes to tests! BEST MATH 50 teacher at PALOMAR!!!!!!
I had considered dropping the class, because initially, the material was way too difficult for me. But Dan was nice, easy going, and really helpful, and I managed to fight my way up to an A. He clarified on any points we were confused with and tried as much as he could to make the class easier on us. The class was actually pretty fun. :)
The worst math teacher I've ever had. Does not explain the concepts well or thoroughly. He can be funny sometimes. But that's not going to help me with learning the content. It's not just me. Half the class dropped. Don't take him.
Dan is one of the best math teachers I had. You have to do the homework but as long as all the problems are there you get an A. only Four exams and one final. He is funny and easy going. If you want someone who cares, take him. He is also a big help in the Math Lab. Take him for any math class! He gives study guides that are just like the test!
Dan is the best math teacher I have ever had! There is no way I would have passed calculus with an A if I had any other teacher. He explains things in a way that makes perfect sense and makes you wonder why no one else ever said it that way. He is funny and easy going, but make sure you are on top of the hw or it can be difficult to keep up.
I came into this class just hoping to survive and pull off a C. Thanks to Dan I was able to get an A. I have no interest in math, but he made the class fun and enjoyable and I really learned a lot. He makes the material easy to understand and he's always there to help if you need him. If you need to take Math 130, Dan Clegg is the way to go!
Very organized and helpful. This guy reminds me of Neil Patrick Harris haha. But anyway hes a great teacher. Only thing that suks is you got to do your hw he checks EVERYTHING. Above all good teaching method, he has his own website for hw, study, guides, and class notes. Very helpful best math prof ive had so far.
I got an F in this class but it was my brains fault not Clegg's. He's organized, prints better than me! knows his stuff but he doesn't take forever to return hw.for me it was hard to approach him, but he's nice-it was my prob cuz i felt stupid in the class. take him if you want a good math teacher!
If you have never liked math, he is the one you have to take it! In my entire life, I never liked Math. BUT! he makes Math easy to understand and fun. the atmosphere of class is always good and fun because he and his fellow math funs make it so. if you are the absolute math hater, take him!
Highly recommended! Easily the best math teacher I've ever had. And definitely on of the best professors at Palomar. Very helpful if you don't understand something. Crystal clear lectures. Looking forward to taking trig with him.
Greatest math teacher I have ever had by far. Explains things great and has a lot of knowlege on trig. He will answer your email too. Just do the homework and pay attention in class and you can get an A.
wonderful teach even if I got B
He's a great professor. He has fixed office hours and is willing to work with you if you are struggling. He knows his stuff and his online notes were extremely helpful. His quizzes, however, are way easier than his exams so don't be fooled!
Outlines his class very fairly. 3 Exams, 3 quizzes, no homework, 2 projects. This class is not easy, I thought from the reviews it wouldn't be that hard, I had to really work for the C I got in the class, Clegg and tutors offer help, go to them (Highly suggest it before tests)
Amazing teacher. Very helpful. Clear. Concise. And to the point. Also funny. 5/5!!! BEST TEACHER EVER. SO GOOD. TAKE HIM.
Best math professor at Palomar!! His class wasn't too bad, I would take him again. He loves it when students bring him chocolate.
Great teacher and funny, dry sense of humor. I struggled but kept going, doing all homework. Tests were tough but necessary evil. Buy both books, workbook really helped with understanding WHY.
Best teacher at Palomar yet.
Seriously. Clegg is one of the best professors i have ever encountered. Very bright guy, knows his material well. He has a strong comedic side and likes to have fun with the class while making you not hate math anymore. Take him and put forth even a minimal amount of effort and you will have positive results.
Trigonometry is not a fun subject, but I do enjoy going to class. Dan makes the class interesting and lively. He is a total math geek, and he embraces it. You have daily quizzes, so I don't recommend skipping class. The tests are not easy, but he offers partial credit, so be sure to show as much work as possible.
Great teacher! Makes Calc 2 fun and interesting
I've had my fair share of math teachers at Palomar that I've had to drop because they are just absolutely terrible at teaching the material. Dan is not one of them. He's very clear and he will go over the material until the class understands. Hands down one of the best I've had at Palomar. He'll make you not totally hate math. BUY THE WORKBOOK THO!
Clegg had a lot of office hours and always made us laugh at trig identities. I had to study a lot, but Clegg always helped me out, so I would say he really cares about students.
Dan was an awesome teacher. Wins my award for best math teacher out of all that I have had to-date. His lectures are clear and to the point; he makes it easy to understand the concepts and gives plenty of examples. He gives a quiz almost every class. The tests are on what he taught and aren't hard if you study. Easy A for a good student
There were no quiz, however he gives 3 written assignments, about 4 questions each and they were hard, we had over one week to do each. However he is a very easier grader. His exams are okay but his final exam is extremely easy and only covers the basic stuffs. He talks fast and is hilarious. His class is an easy A class if you take math seriously
Overall, very good professor. He's funny, personable, clear, empathetic to those who dislike or aren't naturally good at math, and is easy on the eyes. If you ever need extra help, go to his office! Very approachable. Good number of extra credit opportunities. He takes and posts online his excellent, in-class notes, so try just taking it all in.
I took several math courses with Dan, but the last one with him was Calc II. He's very clear, helpful, and understanding. I love how he explains concepts. I feel like people who dislike or don't understand math could learn from him and even start to like math. I was one of those people in high school but Dan changed me! I almost majored in math!
I had trig (in HS) prior so his class is more of a review for me. He makes everything easy and simple. I dont study much but I still manage to maintain an A. I found the class fun as he gave more insight to "why" its like that. I had quizzes once a week but they were too easy. I recommend him to anyone for math!
Dan is the funniest math professor I have ever had, he has sarcastic humor. However, his tests are hard and long. There is a homework quiz every class. He is helpful and clear with what he expects and how he teaches. It is difficult to leave class confused.
Dan is the man. I struggle thorough school because I also work, but he was great. He's no pushover though. He keeps his class under control, which is good because I get distracted easily. His lectures were very clear, I learned a lot. He is also hilarious, and pokes fun at students, and they back to him. Not too bad on the eyes, either, lol.
Clegg is funny! His notes are so great and he posts them to blackboard. His tests are relatively similar to his study guides and his quizzes, that being said there are some really hard test/quiz problems. Tons of homework, get the solutions manual! Never needed to visit his office hours, but he had so many and there were always students in there!
Math 205 is a demanding subject. All of his classes have 4 exams and a final. 3-4 written assignments that take a lot of work! Book homework not collected. There are other professors on campus that will let you slide through with minimal effort. Professor Clegg will make you earn your grade but give you and understanding of the material in return.
Oh yeah, everyone in a good mood? Clegg made 205 very easy. Would always offer extra credit on every test, usually around 5% possible. That's half a letter grade on his 100 pt tests! On the normal exams (excluding the final) the worst grade I got was a 100%, that shows how well written they are. He's available every lecture day and is helpful.
Dan is the man! Best math teacher I have ever taken by far! I always struggled through algebra and never thought I could even get through trig. Now I'm enrolled in his calc class and stoked to be there! Quiz every class (big % of grade but a great tool to keep up on things). Just try and it will be impossible to fail! He makes it seem so easy!
Dan is the best math teacher I have had! I wish I could take all my math classes with him. He is patient, kind and personable. If you don't understand something, go to his office hours, he'll happily work with you till you get it. Make sure to do the hw he assigns, they're all meaningful (not busy work) and will come up again on quizzes and tests
Professor Clegg is one of the best professor I have take for math, he makes everything so simple. Do the hw and show up to class and is impossible to fail it.
Very knowledgeable and and willing to share information. Makes sometimes difficult concepts easy to understand such as u-substitution and the fundamental theorem of calculus.
Dan is one of the best math professors I have ever had. He made Calculus seem easy, and he most importantly gave me the confidence to go further in math. There is a quiz and weekly problem once a week, and there isn't much hmwrk compared to other math profs. If you need to take calculus, take his class!
Dan is the man! I tend to learn quickly and get bored in class. Dan made it interesting by unlocking the underlying mechanics of the formula. If you need to understand math, take his class. If you need to pass math, take his class. Don't waste your time looking elsewhere, there's only one or two more good math prof at Pmar
Dan is AMAZING. He explains topics slowly and carefully so that *everyone* understands and not just the smartest few in the class. The only homework that gets graded is the "weekly problem." Everything else is 100% optional. Also, if you happen to miss a lecture, don't worry. He uploads his notes onto his site and they are very easy to understand.
Dan is the best teacher i've ever had in my life. I'm currently in trig with a strong A as a result from his merciful grading and awesome lectures. He makes himself available, and if you get to talk to him outside of class you'll find he's a very interesting and overall great guy. Most enjoyable class in my college experience and i don't like math.
Everybody in a good mood? Professor Clegg communicates the material clearly and effectively, making sure everyone understands. Quiz on homework at beginning of each class. Makes you work for an A, but very fair. Doesn't grade homework, but do it if you want a good grade in the class. Lots of extra credit-->105% possible. My favorite class yet ;).
Dan is a solid professor who is as helpful inside of the classroom as he is outside. Not only are his lectures are very clear, but participation during class is encouraged. He provides a variety of easy to understand examples for almost every problem given on notes, exams mirror the study guides, and make sure to keep up with homework assignments.
Great teacher! He explains calculus in an understandable way. He is also a lot of fun! He attaches extra credit at the end of his exams, if you finish early. He also puts a lot of work into helping you visualize what is happening. I highly recommend him for any calculus class!
Dan is an amazing professor. i wish i could take him again for calc II next semester, it's unfortunate he isn't teaching it. He makes himself available and is very patient. His class is entertaining because of his sense of humor. I highly recommend him to anyone who is struggling with any math class. Calculus definitely requires some work though.
Dan consistently maintains an outstanding balance in his classes; he keeps classes fun and hilarious yet really challenges students to become excellent in the topics. Amazing teaching style and helpful in-class note system. He is also VERY friendly and approachable. Provides great help. He even contributes to the textbook series you use in class!
Best math professor I've taken yet. He assigns very little homework, and he doesn't collect it (I still recommend doing it before class to prepare for the quizzes). His lectures are clear and he posts them all on canvas. There are quizzes every day on the previous class, but he chooses the easier problems(sometimes straight from the homework).
Best math professor I have ever taken a class with.
Awesome guy, very passionate about the subject. Best math teacher I've had by far, he makes concepts that I would otherwise be confused about into very easy ideas. Loved his class.
Clegg knows how to present the material clearly, and will answer any questions if you are confused. Easy material to understand, and clarifies what he's doing. Homework is mandatory, but will help on exams. Every day (except for first week), you'll have a super easy 10 minute 2 question quiz covering the material from yesterday. Best math class yet
Best math professor I have ever had. Homework assigned daily but he does not collect it. Short quiz at the beginning of every class to cover material from the previous class which actually really helps stay caught up with the class. Lectures are easy to understand. Show up and pay attention to lectures and you will pass.
I took Trigonometry twice so I fail math 115 with Dan Clegg TWICE. This teacher doesn't explain very well in the class. I had the real test from last semester on the Fall 2018 so i study the real test from last semester. But, when I took all the test in the Spring 2019 that he made all different questions on the test. I'm so Bummed and not happy.
Amazing! I took him for both calc 1 & 2 and got A's both times. His lectures are detailed and make a lot of sense. He doesn't assign hw, which make it much easier to spend more time studying (I would still do the suggested problems because they are VERY helpful). Tests are representative of what he teaches, and there's extra credit on the tests
Great teacher , explains concepts very throughly. Dont miss class or you will fall way behind. Hes very funny and willing to help if needed.
Professor Clegg is the best math instructor I've had at Palomar College and maybe even in my whole academic life. His lectures are very well organized and clear. He posts all the class lecture notes online and they are color coded to understand the problems step by step. He assigns a reasonable amount of homework without it being too overwhelming.
Great teacher, very passionate of the subject.
Nice guy, easy grading.
Awesome lectures, detailed and super helpful. When we had to switch online because of COVID, he recorded his lectures and was really flexible about when we watched them. Doesn't grade homework, but you really should put in the effort to do the problems as you will learn a lot and he sometimes reuses some of those problems for tests.
Dan is incredibly organized; maybe the most organized professor I've had so far. Lectures are focused & succinct, yet very informative and never boring. He always reviews before exams & he prepares you for them so well. Gives out short & sweet quizzes every week that truly help you check your understanding. I'll be taking Dan's class anytime I can!
Professor Clegg's lectures were very detailed, and he took the time to go over the homework problems and made sure everyone understood the concepts we were learning before covering the next topic. He has extra credit on every test and the study guide is very thorough. If you make sure to do the homework and study guide problems, you'll be fine.
Very kind Man. Clear passion for topic
DO NOT TAKE!! I took this class and I had to drop. The amount of work was insane. I switched to another professor and the class was so much less work and I learned more. The professor proctors the exams like a psychopath killer watching his victim squirm in fear. Seems like a nice dude but his policies are crazy!! 1 hour for exams. WAY TO MUCH HW.
Hands down the best professor I've had in school so far. Really nice and approachable. If you do the homework and study guide, exams should be fairly easy. One of the only classes where I actually looked forward to coming to lecture.
Listen. Calculus II is a difficult course and unless the teacher throws away half of the material it won't be easy. That being said, Dan Clegg is the kind of teacher who cares if his students pass, is flexible where he can be, provides study guides and extra credit opportunities and is always open to helping you out. Not sure what more you'd want.
My best math professor yet, you can tell he really loves his job and it shows in his lectures. His notes are easy to read and understand and great for if you miss class. Hes pretty sarcastic and makes the class enjoyable. He gives weekly quizzes where you can use the internet/friends and the exams are proctored over zoom.
Nice person and surprisingly fun. Makes it easy to learn in an online setting.
He's the best math professors I've ever had. I'm looking forward to his calculus course
Had 3 of his classes now. U Could not ask for a more easy going teacher. Generous partial credit, office hours, and extra credit questions on exams. not sure which shmohawk in our class complained here about too much HW and online proctoring, because all he gives is optional homework and small weekly quizes with no proctoring software besides zoom
Professor Clegg is my favorite math professor by far. He is a funny and engaging guy and explains everything really well in class. His exams are straightforward, and he is nice when it comes to grading. I highly recommend you take him.
Dan's lectures were very easy to follow for me as he explained every topic meticulously. He doesn't ask for you to submit homework, but doing at least some helps you understand the topics better. I never had to contact him, but it seems he is quick to reply through Canvas. Tests can be difficult so make sure you understand everything before them
Dan is truly the best math professor I have ever had. He is a very patient and understanding. He has at least three office hours outside of class each week and also answers emails VERY fast. His class consisted of three tests (60%) a final (20%) and weekly take home quizzes(20%). The tests are not easy and require a lot of studying to get an A.
Pay attention in EVERY lecture, and you'll barely have to study. I spent a grand total of 10ish hours studying for the entire 16 weeks because his lectures are extremely organized and get easily engrained if you pay attention. He breaks concepts down to it's principles, and makes you become one with it. Grades super generous too, and is cool lol
Best math prof I have had so far. Good entertaining lectures. There is A LOT of HW problems, which aren't required, but necessary if you want to pass. Will bump up worst test score with final score which is awesome. Very easy to reach and communicate with. Textbook is good for Calc 1, 2, and 3 which is nice. Big rec, especially if calc is scary 4 u
Best math professor I've ever had. Good lectures and notes. Homework prepares you well for each exam and he posts the notes as well as extra study guides on canvas as well. He's always happy to answer any questions and responds to messages quickly. Just a nice guy who is amazing at his job.
Professor Clegg was great. Very straightforward guy with good lecture notes. Be prepared to use the book though, as the hw problems are in there. You MUST do the hw if you wanna pass this class. Will drop the lowest test score with whatever grade you get on the final.
Professor Clegg is fantastic - lectures are clear, and homework helps you ace exams. I found Unstuck study a great study tool alongside the provided resources.
By far the best professor I have ever had at Palomar. I took him for the full Calculus sequence and didn't regret it for a moment. Very dry humor and great rapport with the students that makes for an engaging lecture. Homework is from the textbook and not graded, although he works through requested problems at the beginning of every class.
This is my second class with Professor Clegg. He is super funny and is great with everyone in the class. He is willing to help you before/after class if you need the help. Hw isn't graded, but if you want to pass the class, you must do them. Exams will kick your butt if you don't do the required studying. 10/10 professor.
This professor is alright for how hard calc 2 is and you have to be very on top of things to pass. I wouldn't say he is a bad professor, but he's isn't understanding of his students and refuses to move any deadlines whatsoever, even if the whole class begged and pleaded. Just make sure to do all of your homework! He expects a lot.
Amazing teacher, super funny and does care about teaching you, I highly recommend, I went from a D to a B during the semester because he helped me study and do good on the final, extra credit on the exams as well. Overall amazing teacher one of my favorites.
Clegg may be the best math educator that I've had, he is great at explaining. I would highly recommend him if youre naturally good at math or need to take the full calc sequence because you will learn. I would not recommend him if you are not the best at math or only need to take calc 1 since his study guides are not very similar to the exams.
