He makes a potentially difficult subject very digestable for a beginner. He's articulate and friendly and cares about his students. Expect to work and do as many problems in the book as you can stand--it will pay off during the test.

If you are taking chemistry for the first time ever, don't take him. He cracks jokes more than he talks about chemistry. If you ask a question, he gets annoyed. He makes everything harder than it is. Plan to teach everything to yourself
I dont understand why people say he's hard. If you can't handle Edgar's 110 class dont even obther with 101...After going through 3 other chem teachers I can say that Mr. Edgar is the best out there! Just take really good notes and study your notes!
Worst teacher ever. Discriminative towards the girls. Doesn't teach anything.
He is a good teacher. Sometimes his class gets a little boring, but he usually tries to solve this problems with his jokes.
If you are rude, apathetic, and talk a lot during class...do not take him. If you like to learn, and your first priority when you enter a classroom is to actually learn...then you will ennjoy the class. He has really cheezy jokes though!A nice guy overall
MULTIPLE CHOICE TESTS PEOPLE! that does not happen often in chem...take advantage. Study for a day or two before his tests and you will FINE! He is not too hard at all! But you have to study your notes before tests!
bad teacher. if you take his class be prepared to learn chemistry on your own. tells stupid jokes more than luctures. his tests are hard. he truly is "THE DIARRHEA OF ANNA FRANK".
This guy cannot teach Chemistry, especially if you have no background in Chemistry. His lectures are non-informative and he tends to joke around more than teach. As an A student, this guy did not do good job to teach us, and that's what makes him hard.
He is a very cool and easy teacher. You just need to do the homework, attend labs, read the chapters and review your notes before a test and you'll be fine. I highly recommend taking him, he's one of the greatest teachers in GCC.
What a bad experience. I have a 3.5 GPA and I took him. Very sexually discriminitive and favors towards women and only answers girls questions and GOD FORBID a guy asks him anything he'll shrug at you. Makes way too many jokes and dropped my gpa to 3.3
i took the class in summer. he is funny, but doesnt know when to stop. the class is boring. his tests are hard, not fair. if you have a question for about raising your hand u'll be ignored.but the labs are really easy and always a 10/10.
If you got a **** you've got 90% of the grade! If you're a man OH boy good luck.I wish you the best.
Not a particularly good teacher, however labs and most tests are fairly straightforward. However, hates to answer questions by guys or anyone that challanges anything he does. I'd take it with someone else.
Wow, what a jerk he is! It was my first Chemistry class ever and this guy made everything so hard. I got a tutor for chemistry and he saved my life because he made everything that Dan Edgar made so hard into very easy stuff. Edgar is a joke, TRUST ME skip him.
CAN'T EXPLAIN IF HIS LIFE DEPENDED ON IT. DOESN'T ANSWER QUESTIONS. HAS VERY STUPID JOKES. THE ONLY WAY YOU'LL SURVIVE IF YOU READ THE BOOK AND THE CHEM 110 BOOK IS PRETTY EASY TO UNDERSTAND SO DON'T WORRY/
his lectures are easy but his tests are HARD!you must study to pass. his labs are very easy and the lab final is on 3 of the previous labs. he does not answer q's unless you are a girl. overall he is ok but you MUST study to pass otherwise u r out of luck.his tests are much harder than his lectures
I grew to appreciate his cheesy jokes; they make for entertaining lectures. B/C he's always joking during lecture, you may think his tests are easy. They're a bit challenging but not impossible. Multichoice & show your work problems. Simply study, practice problems in the book and you will be fine.
I wouldnt recommend Edgar to anyone. He can't explain. Makes stupid jokes , makes you confused, he seems nice but when u go to talk to him or ask him a question he is pretty mean. The tests are confusing. I studied a lot for his tests but they are pretty confusing. Dont take him. :(
Honestly the worst teacher around. I try to look at the positive aspects in every situation but there aren't any in this case! This guy just cannot teach Chemistry. If you ask him a question, he doesn't give you a straight answer. Basically you need to be a CHEMISTRY PRODIGY to even pass this class!
fun teacher
Hated Chem. & had to take it again @ the coll. level. Thought it would be hard, but it wasn't too bad. He explains things clearly, answers ur ?s, & helps u out w/ subject. You HAVE to meet him 1/2way though b/c the class ain't easy. I studied and went 2 every class(got a C). overall nice guy!
seems like a fun teacher at first, but wait till the tests..he cannot explain during his lectures and skips around so much, you never know what chapter you're on.....does not curve tests and does not drop lowest test...only take Edgar if there is no other teacher available
He is very hard my gpa is 4.0 and he is killing my gpa.He doesnt care about the boys in class, so .... any ways good luck
good teacher
take him for 102.I don't get all these comments about him being a bad teacher. if you study and take notes, getting A in the class in possible/easy. i would admit that if you are a girl then, take him for sure. he is fair.
Haha. He's very sarcastic & sometimes you don't even know what he's talking about. Although he is a nice guy, you pretty much have to learn it on your own.
sorry excuse for a professor, tests are ridiculously hard. do not take this professor at all costs.
If you take his notes and study those and do his sugessted problems, you can get an A. It's true i've had him for 102 and he was very nice and helpful. So it's all up to you to make a decision about taking him instead of other whom are very hard. I got what i wanted and i think you will too.
if a guy asks a question, he ignores it, if a girl asks the same question he goes out of his way to answer it, and if you call him on it, then he will get offended and kick you out, this man is not only a horrible teacher but an overall p*** of a man, and he should get fired, never to be hired again, I will do everything in my power to get him out.
umg. He's the nicest teacher i've ever had in my life./ he explain and care about you. if you really put time and STUDY, you will see that it's all up to you to make a difference in you life. Nothing can be earn easy including you grade. Go for him. He'll help you throughout you're study. Thank you Dr. Edgar! you're the best and you're the only one
Haha to the person below, they're totally bsing. Egar is not a hard class but he's the meanest SOB in GCC history. He starts off semi-nice but the guy is straight up weird. Bottom line is he's got easy tests, but he hates guys in his class and treats women way better. If your a hot girl take this class it's an easy A but fellas watchout
DONT TAKE HIM! YOUR GPA WILL DIE!! I AM SO UPSET! I'M A STRAIGHT A STUDENT BUT AFTER TAKING HIM HE KILLED MY GPA! I AM DEPRESSED BEYOND BELIEF! HIS TESTS ARE SOOOOO DARN HARD!!!!!!!!!
What a ****, got a B on all the tests...but the last week within 3 days he gave a lab final, a final, and an exam and now I have a C in his class. It's amazing how he still has his job
He is nice, but grades very hard. he should calm down on grading. he does not respect the students opinion
loved this prof, he is not only entertaining, but a good teacher. he helped me in chem 101 as well. he is dedicated, interesting, and very nice. i would take him again in a second. just study, do the homework, and you'll be rocking.
HE IS THE BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD! HE MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH CHEMISTRY. HE'S AN AMAZING TEACHER, VERY HELPFUL AND DEDICATED. It's simple, don't miss class, take notes, practice from the book and you will get an A.
His exams consist of multiple choice! His a nice guy but your grade wont be nice if you don't know what his talking about which half the time i was lost! His not a good teacher take Nowinski if you want to understand something, and his harder makes you memorize things!
MUST READ: I'll sum up Mr. Edgar like this, I got a B+ on 4 of the exams and a C- on the 5th one. Another student, whom was an acquaintance of mine got D-'s and C-'s on the tests. My final grade C, his final grade C. HOW?! You don't get the grade you deserve. He claims he has lost my tests, the guy is unfair. My 2 cents
He's good in addressing a student's weakness.
cooles prof of all times
take this class if you are a hot girl - otherwise it is a pretty easy class, but you won't learn anything, so take it at your own risk
If you dont do anything, do the homework and show all your work on test even if you know its wrong lol.
a decent teacher. chem is not an easy class in general, but he doesn't make it harder. lectures are clear, labs never take the whole scheduled time, not much homework, tests are moderate difficulty, but usually easier than the sample problems he assigns. has an intentionally cheesy sense of humor. not as much work as i expected from a chem class.
Homework was difficult. The tests were tricky. The multipul choices worth 5 points each. If you make 3 mistakes it is low "B" Lab wasn't so hard but you need to think. Attendance wasn't on time. He make joks but they don't have any conection with our lesson. He never answer to your questions. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS.DON'T KILL YOUE GPA. STAY AWAY FROM
Easy professor, laid back, you do not need to kill yourself for a grade. Liked him don't know what the rest of the peopele are talking about. He is so relaxed and does not stress you out. not much to do, so take him, really liked the class.
Chemistry can be difficult, but Edgar made it fun and EASY to understand! He explains things so simply that you hardly notice you're learning something complicated. He's a really good teacher - I learned a lot and still remember it! Study lecture notes, homework, labs, and read book. He doesn't ask for much - just put in the work!
Mr. Edgar's class is very informative and straight forward. He expects you to understand the concepts but he doesn't make you memorize formulas. He provides the needed formulas on the exams. He's funny and friendly but can be firm if students are disruptive in class. Best class in years for me.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! HES BEEN THE BEST TEACHER IVE HAD SO FAR.. HE MAKES THE CLASS FUN AND HE LOVES TO TELL JOKES. PRETTY CHILL TEACHER AND VERY APPROACHABLE. I RECOMMEND THIS CLASS..
HE IS FUN, THE LECTURES ARE FULL OF ANIMATIONS, ENJOYED THIS CLASS, EVERYTHING WAS CLEAR AND FUN, IF I WANTED TO BE A TEACHER I WOULD LIKE TO TEACH AND CRACK JOKES LIKE HIM. HE IS AWESOME!!!! VERY UNDERSTANDING
Very nice, but very disorganized. Lectures are all over the road in terms of content and order of content. Grades fairly, is semi-interesting, but is very confusing.
He loves to blow things up, and conduct magical experiments- keep it interesting. Not only that but his lectures are clear enough that minimal textbook use is needed. On the tests, he gives partial credit on wrong word problems because he UNDERSTANDS the difficulty level- just so long you have a working knoledge of the situation- he's great.
Highly recommended! If you expect to get a good grade without putting some effort into it, then this class isn't for you. If that's not you, then you're in luck...Show up to lectures, take notes on everything, do the assigned homework and pay attention...Your effort will have its pay off:)
He's a nice guy, but he isn't the greatest teacher. He leaves a lot for you to figure out on your own. He knows his stuff but doesn't get it across too well. I would not recommend this class during a short session unless you're very strong in Chem already. But partial credit on tests helps along with easy Lab points. Overall..he's just ok.
Great teacher. Knows his stuff too. Teaches from his own thoughts and can relate his problems to the textbook and to health. If you need 120, TAKE HIM.
He is one of the few professors who seems to genuinely enjoys teaching. Lectures are always entertaining which helps when retaining the vast information on this subject. He makes you think about the question and challenges your thought processes to problem solve. I wish he would teach O-Chem too.
he's and ok teacher but he leaves you to figure out things on your own. he won't give you back the tests. only the first page. he has favorites in class. he barely gives any extra credit. you won't even get points for the homework. his mulitple choice questions counts as 4 points each. so if you miss a lot then you're screwed.
he did not want to make chem harder on his students than it already is--straight forward. he cracks jokes on the side which is a relief coz there's nothing funny about the subject matter. take notes, study them and do the suggested hwork. ask or read if unclear. a nice man.
Prof. Edgar made this class enjoyable. As the comment below says, he cracked jokes ALL the time! Warning: although attendance isn't mandatory - show up EVERYDAY bc often, the material on exams can't be found in the book! During lecture he tended to go off on tangents, which was confusing. I recommend going to office hours - this helped out alot
He is good teacher, very ffunny
He is good teacher, very funny
Prof Edgar made chem fun; is laid back & cracks jokes; no HW but did encourage questions in class; take advantage of ofc hrs; if seen on campus will take time to answer quest; allowed me to bring son to class when he was out of school and I had class. Very compassionate & understanding.
He is all over the place with his examples. usually shows you how NOT to do something. then shows you how to do it the right way. really messed me up on the tests. youtube was a better tool for explaining equations. close to the end he will take up a class to talk about nuclear fission power which he also says you dont need 2 know. STOP HIM:)
If you need Chem120 take him. He understands that most people in his class are going into the healthcare field and relates his problems to that. His tests are not that hard, but each question is worth a lot of points because they're short. He gives you the conversions and equations you will be using on the test. Take him if you're Chem challenged.
well this guys is all over the place with his examples. he is easy but grading is a little confusing at times. make sure to study and review on your spare time.
The best prop.ever . He doesnt make the subject complicated. The only thing that u really need is to take notes and study whatever he covers on his lectures ! tests are easy andfair.
take notes and study ur notes for the tests and you will get a good grade. His grading is fair and he is very nice
Multiple choice is unbelievably hard .There were some group of people who retook this course. They obviously knew more than us .But listen our class has eight "A"'s And four 'B" and the rest were C .One page and half Were C .I can't get it why the mult were so hard :-(
His multiple choice is hard .Every question has 4 point. We have 8 "A" and 4 "b" and the rest were C or D in our class.I can't get it why he is trying to give us such a complicated multiple choice .He didn't even talk about those in class :-(
Tests are extremely hard .I mean multiple choice. We had 8 of A and 4 B's and the rest were C and D.Edgar when u see this result, why don't u change your multiple choice.U had a good behavior but the tests were so hard .No recommended
Avoid him ....bad....
He really breaks down chemistry for beginners to understand, I would totally recommend him, I've gone through 2 Chem teachers and he's by far the best, I really learned a lot just make sure u study and take careful notes
I did not like him at all, he doesn't know how to explain and he is extremely unorganized person. I hate how is jokes around but could't explain. If you really want to get a good grade don't take this unorganized teacher. Also, tests are horrible.
He is the worst Chem. teacher. He doesn't care if students understand the class or no, he likes to talk about nonsense or joke about girls n parties. He can't explain a simple problem and his tests are extremely hard, well not what you expect it to be. If you want a serious, organized instructor don't take him. You will regret taking him in the end
WOW. i dont get why people complain about him so much!!! hes so easy and very nice professor its not his fault that you people didnt study for his tests..im taking him this semester and so far hes been perfect! always willing to explain to students after the class. hes really good! and this is my first time taking chem..i didnt even take it in hs!!
Seriously, I thought I was not gonna do well in his class. He is by far one of the most understandable chemistry teachers i have had. If you want to do well in his class, actually go attend class and take notes. All of his notes are on the test. and make sure you do HW questions for review. it will help A LOT! He is an awesome Chemistry teacher :)
I actually really enjoyed taking his class because everything he teaches in lecture is EXACTLY what is on the test! You rarely even use the book to be honest... He does joke around a lot to keep the class interested. Ask questions and you'll succeed better in his class :)
I really enjoyed this class. He is a little all over the place when he lectures, but if you take good notes, you will do fine. His tests are exactly from his lectures. My one compalaint would be that he doesnt give enough questions on the exam, so each question is worth a lot of points. you can easily get a low grade if you miss a few questions!
If you are really good at Algebra, all you need to do to get an A is going over the notes and solving some practice Q's from the textbook on the day before the exam. It is all about setting up the equation and find a value. You'll see maybe 2-3 Q's about the concept and rest of them are solving wording problems just like Algebra.
hes a nice guy and hes funny but he cannot teach. hes all over the place you cant even take decent notes. avoid.
I never thought chemistry could be as easy as it was this Spring semester. I'm really happy I took it with Professor Edgar. Exams are based on his lectures (you must take good notes) and also on the optional homework he gives after every chapter. Do the homework, attend class, ask questions after his class or before lab, and you will do great :)
He seems easy. go through textbook topics too fast. MC at exams are hard(5pts each), missed 2 questions, no chance to get an A at that exam. not recommend if you have no Chem knowledge b4 this.
Professor Edgar is an okay teacher. He tries his best to explain subject matters, but sometimes his explanations make it more difficult than it has to be. He goes through chapters pretty quickly, but tends to do things over and over again, as if it'll make you understand better. (It doesn't; it just disinterests you.) His tests can be difficult.
His tests are very straight forward. What you learn is what you are asked on the tests. He doesn't try to trick you and throw you off. I found the tests easy and he was helpful. I took him during winter and I thought it was going to be very hard, but I paid attention during his lectures and did all of the homework problems and got an A in class.
Chem isn't easy, but Edgar's makes it as simple as it can get. 4 tests +cumulative final, the lab is very easy. Show up, get credit. Lab takes 1-1 12 at most. Tests were MC(60 pt) + written (40 pt) his tests are sooooo similar to his notes, just study the notes, do the suggeste Hw & you'll do fine. If you don't show up, you probably won't pass
Common people, this is chem not rocket science. Its a simple intro course and Edgar is really not that bad. His tests come straight from his notes. The best thing to do is show up everyday and take careful notes. Just watch out bcuz the only way you can raise your grade is from his 4 tests (5 w final), someeeee extra credits, and the lab test.
As a business major, I took Chem 120 to simply acquire my lab science credit during winter. I found the class to be easy and straight forward. Though you do have to pay attention to pick up the concepts, the content is simple and straight forward. Homework is not required but is extremely helpful for test prep which is straight from class notes.
I really enjoyed this class. It's very straight forward. Go to class, do the homework, study and you'll make an A!
LOVE THIS PROFESSOR ! He's so straight forward, he's so funny and chill. Don't listen to the people saying he's confusing because he makes everything so simple in lectures. Just go to class and do the homework ( which is optional). He's a very caring professor. The exams are tough if you DONT DO THE HW. only 4 exams
Loved this class. This Professor made chemistry very easy to understand (which is not easy!) and was always willing to help explain things when they were a bit confusing. Just do all the optional homework because his test questions come straight from there. Also, attendance is important for you to understand the material.
Very fair!!!
Good professor for chemistry. Not too hard of a class being since its chemistry. he does take questions from the homework and lab worksheet and puts it on the test. do the homework and study the lab worksheets for the test and you should be good. he can be very dull to listen to at times and does get a little off track.
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! He's grade at explaining things if you do not get it the first time. During lecture he can sometimes be short answered when you ask him questions, but during lab he takes his time if you go up to him with a problem & works it out with you step by step. Do you the homework he assigns & review the lab worksheets & you shall pass
I have no idea how this professor doesn't have a higher rating! I was expecting his class to be extremely difficult but it was so straightforward! As long as you show up, take notes, participate in the lab, and do the optional homework then this class is an EASY A! He does not try to trick you, and is very funny in lecture! Best Chem teacher ever!
Great Prof, kinda goofy and keeps lecture interesting. Very clear as to what he expects you to know. Goes over examples constantly to really drill the information in. Do the optional homework. Tests are straight forward, questions very similar to problems done in class and labs so pay attention and take notes.
Chemistry is a difficult subject but professor Edgar makes it easy. His teaching method is very helpful. Four exams and a final. Labs are easy but I recommend doing the suggested problems he put on the board before tests for homework. He is a great professor overall but you just need to study to get an A.
He is an average professor. Surprised us a lot with the material on the tests. I didn't find the homework helpful. I studied his lecture notes the most and only completed the homework problems that looked similar to the lecture notes and that helped me get good grades on the exams. Pay close attention, take good notes, and you should be fine.
He is a whatever Professor. He assigns hw at the end of each chapter (not mandatory), did all of them, and got a C in the class..I considered the lab worksheets more beneficial for studying. He goes through lectures fast, and is all over the place. He erases and writes over problems on the board during his lectures, so you have to keep up quickly.
He is a great professor especially for Chemistry! Obviously chem isnt the easiest subject so you will need to study to get a good grade but he explains concepts really well and as long as you take notes and do the homework then youll pass, plus hes hilarious. He gives extra credit on the tests usually and theyre pretty simple.. would recommend
Not the best professor, very average. Didn't emphasize much on what we needed to know when he was lecturing. was taking human anatomy at the same time so most of my time was spent studying for that and I cram studied for this class in a couple days before the tests. If you study, get together with people in your class, repeat problems, ull be fine
Dan Edgar is a great Professor, he has a good sense of humor and is a fair grader. Most of his exams are based on the Lab Sheets. He will do a short review before the test on specific questions (if asked). Heexplains everything clear and if you still dont understand make sure to read your textbook or look online for help.
I don't understand all the bad reviews for Prof Edgar... He's extremely clear and concise when explaining concepts and even though I hate chem, I felt like his class was easy. Take notes on everything he writes on the board, do all the hw problems/lab problems (over and over), and you'll get an A. Plus he gives extra credit on every test.
4 tests, 1 cumulative final. He rounds your grade, gives partial credit if you try but dont get the right answer for tests. Just study constantly show up to class and lab especially.
I love Professor Edgar. He is a genuine dude and he cares for his students. Sometimes he covers the material quickly but it is nothing you cannot go home and watch a youtube video about for clarification. He is available after class to answer questions. If YOU put in the work you will pass np. Study the lab sheets for tests and you should do great!
He's chill & makes pop culture jokes in class. He tends to erase his lecture notes quickly after he discusses them, so better pay attention & catch up quickly. If there's confusion, u can ask him Q's after class or in lab. 4 tests, 1 cumulative final. Tips 2 do well in tests: DO assigned HW prac. probs/watch YT vids/review old tests & lab Q's!
Prof Edgar is such a nice guy & makes Chem fun. There are 4 tests & 1 cumulative final. His lectures are clear & simple if you ask questions he has no problem answering them. He's really laid back & available for help. His tests are only like 15- 20 questions that he has gone over in class, homework, or lab. Put in work & you'll get a good grade.
His notes are a mess, like at the beginning of the semester he asked if anyone wants to be his note taker (he'll pay you) because of how terrible his notes are. The homework he gives are all from the textbook and some of those questions are next to impossible to answer without having to ask him how to solve it and hopefully you'll get it.
Very good professor in general. He wants to see his students succeed. He was very understanding when all classes shifted to remote learning. He will happily answer any questions regarding the material. He does not get back to emails quickly, however, so it is hard to contact him that way. Listen carefully during lecture and do the homework!
Professor Edgar is truly a gem. You won't have many like him in your lifetime. He explains the subject matter thoroughly and clearly answers questions. I was nervous I wouldn't do well in chem, but he made the content accessible and even fun. Thank you, Professor. And I personally love his dad jokes :)
I took CHEM 110 before taking CHEM120 w/ Edgar which literally saved my grade. If you have no prior knowledge in Chem then I don't suggest this class. Lectures are more of a review than actually teaching. I have a 100% so far, but that's ONLY bc of my prior class. His tests are easy (basically the practice tests). Do the HW and ace practice tests
He sucks. Dont take. Listen, dont take this class with this prof if you do NOT have prior knowledge of chem. He does not lecture or pause for qs he only reviews.
Listen, if you have a chem background then this class will be a piece of cake for you. He dosent go over the material in a way to learn chemistry from scratch. He brushes over concepts as a form of review and expects students to have that knowledge but its unintentional from his end. Hes a very sweet man and caring. Tests were not proctored.
This professor knows how to teach but cares little about your grade. He gives a lot of surprise quizzes and the exams are just too difficult even if you study hard. If you fail a quiz or exam it brings your grade down by a lot. His way of grading is also bad, I dont recommend taking him as I am sure he will never change. 1/10
He only care about test grades.
I was hesitant to take him at first but as time went by, he was surely a great choice for me. I currently have a 97% in class just by constantly repeating his recorded lectures via zoom. Make sure you understand each concept as his test are like 17-20 questions but are worth 70-80 points. He's an awesome guy and is very reasonable. Take him!
So I had this guy's class years ago. I took high school chemistry with a "C" and hardly studied for this class and got an "A". If you just study the concepts in his lecture well, you'll do fine on the test.
One of my best and favorite teachers Ive ever had! Professor Edgar made himself available so much. Many days, before and after lecture + weekly office hours. He really cares, and is exceptional at explaining chemistry very clearly. I was so nervous about taking this class I never thought I would end up really loving chem! Take his class!!!!!!
Professor Edgar is the most straight to the point teacher you're gonna get. You get a bunch of lectures and then you do the test. Make sure to pay attention to the lectures because all the problems he does is exactly the same as it will be on the test. Easy to talk to if you need clarification. Great and simple teacher overall. Take him!!
Chemistry is not my strong suit and Prof Dan Edgar is genuinely the best science prof I've had. He genuinely cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. He stays after class to explain questions and cracks jokes during lecture to make it more interesting. He allows us to retake quizzes up to 4 times. The tests are based on the quizzes.
Professor Edgar is an awesome teacher, probably the one of best Chemistry teacher available! He is very knowledgeable and teaches you in a way can understand which is a huge plus...being chemistry is a tough subject itself. You must put in the effort with your homework problems, lab assignments, and study for your quizzes and exams.
This professor was truly a good one. Chem was not a strong subject of mine. He is always willingly to help as long as you ask. He does reviews before the test and has practice quizzes you can take multiple times that are based on the exams. If you follow along with his practice problems in lecture you will be fine. The final was the hardest part.
Super manageable class, especially if you want to take a more difficult course with it. Or you can do it in the winter/summer and get it out of the way. There are 4 exams + a cumulative final. The questions on his tests are EXACTLY like what you see in the quizzes (can be retaken up to 3 times), lecture notes, labs, and homework problems.
This class had zoom lectures & in person labs. Lectures are very clear and he is patient when answering questions. It's a lot of studying but it's doable. Labs every week, one test every few chapters, and quizzes that have questions similar to the test. Just study and you'll be fine. He's funny & kind, take him!
He made chemistry so clear and easy. Lectures are simple to follow and he provides tons of examples. Make sure to go to lab every time because you have assignments you need to submit during class for points. Tests aren't really difficult since he provides all the equations you need and there's always an extra credit question at the end. Take him!
I am not the best at Chemistry and was worried that I wouldn't even be able to complete the requirement to graduate but Prof. Dan Edgar explained things in bite-size pieces, with lots of examples. The online practice quizzes were extremely helpful in mastering the subject and preparing for the exams.
I was so scared taking Chemistry but it was such a breeze thanks to Prof. Dan Edgar. Lectures were so clear and easy to understand, goes over problems many times to help you understand and his homework quiz questions are just like the ones on the exams. Studying off his lectures and practicing problems will guarantee you a pass!
Prof. Dan Edgar helped me finally understand chemistry. He explains problems with patience and his lectures are so clear and easy to follow. Just do the quizzes, study for tests and come to lab.
Great professor! Helpful, chill, and explains lessons clearly with lots of examples.
THE BEST!!!! I cannot recommend professor Edgar enough. He grades very fairly, his tests are what was on the homework. Funny personality and great labs in class. I would retake this class if I could. Lectures are online so you can rewatch anytime you want. He answers questions very respectfully.
Professor Edgar's CHEM120 class is a gem! His lectures are engaging and he explains concepts clearly. Utilizing Unstuckstudy along with practice quizzes makes acing the exams a breeze.
Don't procrastinate and you will pass. Quizzes are very similar to exams.
Make sure to take professor Edgar's class! There are four exams and one final, but the professor's jokes make the class so much more enjoyable. I'd love to take another class with professor Edgar in the future!
For someone who never did chemistry before this class made me love it. The professor gives quizzes that are just like the actual test and his lectures are very easy to follow. I do recommend studying on your own time and practicing the questions again and again. He grades very fairly on the tests as well. Lastly, he is also very kind and funny!
He's truly amazing! very chill, sweet, funny professor. All you need to do is watch his lecture videos. The exams are very similar to questions he goes over in the videos, quizzes, and lab sheets. He only covers topics that will be on the exams and gives you all the formulas. I don't get the bad reviews those students haven't put any effort at all.
10/10 He's very kind and genuinely cares about his students.Yes, the course is exam heavy, but as long as you watch recorded lectures, complete hw (which isn't graded), & use all the resources (study guides/worksheets) you'll be great. I loved chem after this class with professor edgar. He made me want to continue learning. Just take him!
Very caring and nice professor. He explains the materials very professionally, 100% recommended.
Professor Egdar is a very kind caring man , he explains the subject well and provides lectures online which are easy to understand. The exam questions will always be very similar to the homework quizzes which help you very much on understanding on what to expect, however there is a cumulative final exam so be prepared. I highly recommend him!
