He is perfect. I wish he taught all my chem classes.
Very nice but kinda intimidating
He is very intimidating but a great teacher. I've never been strong in chemistry but he made it a lot easier to understand. The tests aren't awful, he does a test review before each one. He likes to call people out which is scary and he takes attendance. I'd recommend him.
Dr. Freeman is an amazing teacher and uses many different examples to help you learn the material. Although he is an amazing teacher, I would not recommend taking CHEM102 if it is not required. This class was very hard! Dr. Freeman did a good job teaching the material but you definitely need to study for the tests.
Freeman is amazing!! He is so engaging, funny, entertaining, and really wants his students to learn the material. Chem102 definitely isn't the easiest course, and he makes you work for it for sure but his lectures are good enough to make sure you will not drown. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives extra credit at the end of the semester.
This class is a 4 credit hr lab science, which is required. Freeman is an amazing lecturer and makes some of the hardest chemistry concepts easily understandable. Goto class because attendance is huge and class doesn't usually last full time. Buy his book because you'll need it for each class. Do all the work on time, pay attention and get an A
This professor is awesome! He is absolutely hilarious and makes things easy to understand. He talks super fast, and sometimes randomly calls on people in class, but taking this professor is so worth it! I highly recommend!!!
Freeman is a little hard to follow so if you want to understand the material fully, don't take him. Walked out of the class confused usually. But he gives loads of extra credit so that helps out your grade in the long run. Made it out with a high B.
His class was a little difficult but extremely helpful, if you put in the work an A is possible.
Basically if you show up, listen, and turn in all your work, you will get an A. He understands not everyone is a chem major so he makes the class easy.
Very easy with lots of flexibility on attendance. He did weekly quizzes, but they weren't hard if you at least knew the name of the reading. If you talk to him, he will do everything possible to help
attendance isnt mandatory, instead Freeman gives you extra credit for every class you show up for. you have to buy the textbook but it is so easy to get an A, tests and labs online.
If you don't have to take Chem. 102 don't. If you do, then take Freeman! He really knows the subjects and teaches it well. Chem. 102 is hard because it combines basic chem., organic chem., and biochemistry into one course. I highly recommend going to SI sessions. They really help. There are only 3 tests and a final. Attendance is extra credit.
Freeman scared me at first, not gonna lie. But as the course goes on, you can tell he really and truly cares. He goes through the lectures pretty quickly, so you almost never stay the entire class period. If you go to every class, he will give you a huge chunk of extra credit at the end.
Dan is the man. I've always hated chemistry and never been very good at it but I easily got an A in this class. Extra credit if you go to class, but I really recommend going, he goes over all the test material and actually makes it very interesting. Labs and tests are all online and very easy and to the point. Lots of worksheets in textbook though
No matter what, take Freeman. He is so funny and so nice. Chem in HS would've been a lot easier if my teachers could explain as well as he does. He gives examples and analogies and also allows for questions even with such a large lecture class. If you do some of the homework after every class, it's such a breeze. EC to show up to class.
Dr. Freeman is a great professor. He talks quite fast so that's the only downside. He's extremely detailed in his lectures, and as long as you study for the tests you'll do fine. He tells you exactly what to study and will give you practice problems. The online homework is annoying and time consuming, but the paper homework isn't that bad.
He is totally hilarious and really helps the students understand what the topics are. The tests are hard, but if you study hard and attend multiple SI sessions, you should be able to do pretty well. Great class and you must attend class because attendance is always taken. The concepts are hard but he makes the easy and understandable for you.
This class I thought was very difficult. However, Dr. Freeman taught the course well by keeping his students engaged as well as doing as best he could at determining if his students were understanding the material. Tests were fairly straightforward and SI sessions really helped.
Very funny and caring, if you don't understand, go to his office HE WILL HELP YOU. This is a hard class and he wants you to learn the material not just memorize it. Not an easy A but a fun class if you really try. Dont be discouraged to take him, the TAs are great and so is the SI leader. Freeman knows his stuff.
Although this class was crazy hard (due to the criteria and expectations to weed out nursing students) freeman is an awesome professor. Attendance is sorta mandatory, he gives an extra 25 bonus points to your final grade if you have perfect attendance, which raised my letter grade by a whole and a half. It is a hard class but freeman is A++
He is awful. This is not an easy A. He is absolutely terrible about telling you when things are due and none of the dates are on the syllabus like they should be. I missed two big assignments because he is awful at telling us anything. He doesn't even try to work with you to get stuff figured out. Talks way too fast in lectures and is very rude.
He's a great teacher! Get the textbook or online textbook because he assigns homework. The homewrok is online and is due by the time you have exams. GET THE LAB MANUAL!!!!! Pay attention in class.
Freeman is an excellent teacher. His lectures are engaging, he breaks down the notes really well, and he makes the classes worth your time. He often ends class early, and includes hilarious fun facts about your life. The test cover what you learned in class, and partial credit is available for most questions. He's hands down the best chem teacher.
He made Chem 112 so easy. I ended up with over a 100 for the semester. The online homework is annoying but really helpful. His exams were easy so if you do the practice problems, you'll be fine. His lectures are great and he makes it really easy to pay attention. He'd usually let class out really early which was nice. Overall, highly recommend
If you're taking Chem 112 you definitely want Freeman. He's really funny and always tries to end class early. The tests are kind of hard but if you study enough you'll be good.
Easiest class and a good professor. Tests are all online and the final is mandatory. there is a good bit of homework but its extremely easy. Would recommend this professor!
Freeman is awesome! Take this as a lab credit if youre a non-chem major. You only need to actually show up to a lab once during the semester and he makes it during class time so its super easy. All exams are online and during class time but he'll cancel class so you can take it wherever. Attendance isnt mandatory and final is optional.
I'm not a fan of science but he made the info more enjoyable and wants his students to do well. He gave plenty of extra credit opportunities, if you go to every class and lab you will get an A.
He's a good professor for Chemistry. Gen Chem isn't that hard, but the class is super easy. You can show up and pass. I would recommend attending class because you have chance to earn extra credit. You basically know what's going to be on each exam, he lectures well and usually lets you out early. Easy class, you should breeze through it. Take him.
Dr. Freeman gives great lectures and is very funny, but I still was clueless after every class. My SI was terrible and did not help at all. Perfect attendance gives you a huge extra credit boost which I regret not taking advantage of. If you do the homework, go to class, and somewhat try you will pass.
I learned nothing from Freeman, I honestly would rather have had Taylor-Perry again for Chem 112. Freeman makes the tests so difficult, and even out random stuff we weren't even told to study on the final. Would not recommend. He makes this already difficult class, much harder. I'm not even a Chem major.
He goes really fast but write/study the examples he gives you in class. Do the practice tests the SI posts cause they help a ton. Show up to EVERY class cause u will get extra credit. He gave 30 extra credit points which helped me get an A. Do the OWLS and do well on the quizzes and you will do fine. It is not that stressful of a class.
Freeman is an awesome teacher!! I learned so much from him and really enjoyed the class. You have to study for the tests because they can be pretty hard, but he is great at explaining things. He also loves when you participate and ask questions.
Dr. Freeman was a lot of fun and a very talented professor. For his exams, he takes some of the questions directly from the textbook, using the problems in the back. I found his exams rather difficult, but he works with you and truly cares that his students understand the material.
Dr. Freeman is by far the most fun and amazing teacher I've had here at USC. He makes the class fun when it should just be boring. He's very interactive and makes sure nobody gets left behind. He does online test to help his students out. You honestly won't regret taking him at all
Dan Freeman is so funny and so nice. He genuinely wants you to do well and is so easy to confront and ask questions about. He really makes sure you understand the material.
I am not a fan of chemistry at all but Freeman makes the class bearable. He gives great lectures and you don't have to go to go to class to get an A. However, he will randomly call on people from the roster to answer a question and if you're not there you lose points. And tests are online. Final is optional.
This class is pretty hard. Freeman does a good job of keeping it interesting and easy to listen too, he's funny. He tends to go very fast and get a little frustrated when the class seems to not understand. But overall knows his stuff. Notes are the lecture slides in your book. He calls randomly to take attendance and give points.
I was so nervous to take chemistry, especially organic chemistry since I hadn't done well with it in high school. Freeman makes it so attainable and lays the information out so well. I studied a good amount, but not so much that it was painful. Definitely best teacher I've had.
Dr. Freeman is really loud. He's an amazing teacher and his tests are really easy if you studied. The OWL assignments are pointless and the quizzes are partner quizzes that are super easy. Attendance is not mandatory but sometimes he gives pop quizzes when he sees a lot of people are not there. Overall, he's nice and sometimes mean but really nice.
Freeman makes chemistry somewhat enjoyable. He is very enthusiastic in his lectures. He gives an extra credit opportunity by asking random people questions in each class, if you are there when your name is called, you get the EC. If not, you don't. His exams are not super easy, but not super difficult.
Is able to get an entire room of 200+ students to understand complex chemistry problems with ease. His class is lecture heavy and tests can be tough, but he goes over many questions during class. Also provides extra credit by randomly calling on people throughout the year. Overall fantastic teacher who truly cares about students success
He is very caring and passionate about what he does. He really wants to work with the students as much as possible. I didn't always like his teaching styles but he's such a good person, its hard not to like him.
Super great and funny teacher. Explains everything very well. Not too much homework. 4 exams total
Dr. Freeman is one of the best science professors that I have ever had. His lectures are big but he teaches in a way to make sure that everyone understands. He is open to answer questions at any point of the lecture. If you go to class, and study you will definitely receive an A!
Dr. Freeman is the best chem professor I've ever had and I wish I could take him again. He gives amazing lectures and is super understanding. I had an issue with one of the online exams and he helped even though I'm sure it was annoying for him to fix. I highly recommend taking him!!
A lot of material is covered in class and if you miss them itll be hard for you to teach yourself which is why i recommend going and ya just do the work and focus and you should be fine.
I hate chemistry but I love this man. barely made a B in 111 but coming out of 112 with a solid A bc of him. has a great personality and is loud so he makes lecture interesting. definitely a great teacher, and go to SI if you need extra help. doesn't take attendance but gives ec quizzes. tests are straight forward. best chem professor, TAKE HIM!
Dr. Freeman is an amazing chemistry teacher. He actually cares about his students and wants them to understand what he is teaching. There is so much covered in each class so don't skip. The material is hard and tests are hard but take advantage of SI and tutoring in the student success center. And he offers extra credit at the end of the year
Dr. Freeman is arguably the best professor at this university. This class is challenging but is easy if you show up and care. Freeman genuinely cares about every student. Definitely take if possible.
You should take with him. If you work for an A you will get it. The material was kind of difficult but if you go to every class and practice for the exam you will be fine. He makes everything easy. Also DO the online HW or you will fail!
If you want a good grade, do not skip class. This is a gen chem course but being chemistry, its gonna be hard. His exams are straightforward. He treats his classroom as a democracy. Do the owls because they count, they arent extra credit. Sometimes he will do a pop quiz if there arent a lot of people in class but they're all extra credit. solid guy
Freeman is one of my favorite professors I've ever had. He actually made me enjoy going to chemistry. Material is TOUGH so going to class is vital, however he works with you and wants you to understand and succeed. He's absolutely hilarious so that class was actually a breath of fresh air in my day. Test heavy, but he curves and gives extra credit.
Freeman is the man. Science meant for non-science majors (4 credits!). 3 online exams, a few online labs and the final is optional. He says throughout the semester how easy this class is. Attendance is extra credit. 10/10.
Mr. Freeman is the best guy for chemistry 102. His class is somewhat challenging but if you do the homework and listen in class an A is definitely attainable!
definitely take him!! great professor really knows what he is doing. tests are all online and final is optional if you have an A. he really tries to help you get an A though so its pretty easy. worth 4 credits and you don't even have to go to lab.. they are all online and very easy
Freeman is a great guy and professor. If you go to class he gives you 25 extra credit points just like that and he bumps your grade up if you get close to the next letter grade. His tests are tough but definitely not awful. I averaged an 85 on the tests. He wants everyone to succeed and does everything he can to make sure every student does. LOVE!!
Freeman is hilarious! He's a great professor but his test can be hard if you don't put in the work. Make sure you do the owls. Don't leave things for the night before the test bc you will fail. He's gives 25 extra points if you attended class. The Final was really hard but he curves. Its not an easy class but you can do well if you put in the work
Freeman was my favorite teacher so far at USC! He makes learning interesting and really wants all of his students to succeed
Hated chem in high school, fell in love with organic chemistry because of Freeman's class. He does not know any of the students personally due to the class size, but he teaches so well that the lecture style works perfectly fine. Study, do the homework, and follow along in class and you will do good. Also TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SI SESSIONS.
TAKE HIM! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! Dr. Freeman is hands down one of my favorite professors at USC and I hate chemistry. He is funny, tries to make sure you understand the material, and gives alot of extra credit. Make sure you attend lecture though, but he makes it so fun you will want too. Chem 112 is hard but you won't regret taking him
Professor Freeman is a great guy; he's really funny and genuinely cares if you understand the material. You NEED to go to class or else you will fail. He tries to make you understand and he's easy to talk to if you need extra help.
Amazing Teacher! Teachers lectures in rooms packed with hundreds of people yet still makes it feel like its a small class and explains the material very well even though it's moderately difficult. Takes attendance by drawing a random name and asking questions.
This man is straight up mr. worldwide. Not only does he look identical to pitbull, but he also has the fierceness of one too. He's very passionate about the chemistry, talks like he is on the Ellen show, and puts you on edge the whole class. You never know when your name will be called and never know what metaphor he will use in class today.
Homework for every section due before test day (both online and on paper) Three exams and a final Seem uninterested during office hours Try to make jokes during lecture
Dr. Freeman is a funny guy. He likes to deviate from the lecture notebook but is very helpful at working through problems that will show up on the tests. He doesn't bother teaching the things that he won't put on the test, so he doesn't waste your time. He can go through things fast but if you pay attention you'll be fine. Pretty good class
Dan is the man. I'm lucky enough to have actually befriended the man and he is definitely an amazing teacher/person. He will help you if needed and only teaches what is gonna be on the test (he'll teach a bit about other stuff for OWL). Take this class, this mans just has the look to be a male fashion designer.
He teaches large classes so don't expect to be noticed immediately. However he wil help you if you're struggling in class. I personally suck at chemistry, but I did my best and still came out with an A. Entertaining in class. Easy to talk to. Make sure to attend class for any pop quizzes.
He is one of the best professors, highly recommend for science core class.
Was a great professor and made class enjoyable and always let class out early. TAs grade your exams, but the exams all have problems similar to ones done in class. Utilize practice exams on his website, and PRACTICE PROBLEMS IN BACK OF BOOK ON SYLLABUS! For someone who has a hard time with chemistry, he is absolutely the prof to take
He is so nice, funny, and caring. He always tries to encourage us to learn chemistry. I really love his class.
TAKE HIM! hes the best professor Ive had so far, he is entertaining so the class flew by and he wont keep you longer than necessary, we got out early most days. My class did better on exams than other professors classes. He knows how to teach well and will ask fair test questions.
I was so hesitant to take this class bc I suck at chem but everyone reccommended it. Literally so easy, I finished the class two weeks early because as soon as you get an A you dont have to go back. All the test are online and the final is optional, theyre kind of tough if you dont pay attention in class but labs and homework pull your grade up
Dr. Freeman is the best professor I've ever had! He is hilarious and makes you genuinely want to pay attention in class. His exams can be difficult but only because the material is difficult. He makes it clear what is on exams and how they're scored and gives 25 extra credit points for perf attendance. A bit of work can get you an A or B+ easily.
Awesome professor! I hate chemistry and he made it somewhat enjoyable. Strange attendance policy. Not too much homework and he grades fairly. He has an awesome personality and explains the concepts clearly. Definitely one of the best professors Ive had. I recommend and would absolutely take again!
Great teacher who wants you to do good. You have to buy a certain book that has the power points for the class and lab but you can write in it which helps a ton. Homework is mandatory but really helps for his tests. His tests arnt to hard if you pay attention in class. The final can replace your lowest grade! Easy A if you put some effort into it.
Freeman is super laid back and his class is pretty easy. Literally everyone made an A in this class but somehow I managed to get a B. Still recommend though.
Really cool guy. Not a hard professor at all. Study and you'll make an A. He's really funny too, gets to the meat of the topic. He talked for 15 minutes about his cats once. His textbook wasn't like an actual textbook, it was like a spiral notebook of powerpoint slides. I'm definitely taking him again when I have to take upper-level chemistries.
Make sure to show up for every class as he calls out random people to answer questions. If you answer correct and dont get an absences, he gives 25 extra credit points. He gives great lectures and doesnt teach out of the textbook, he makes up his own problems. I passed the exams by practice problems from the book.
This is the easiest class ever. All the tests are online and the homework is straight from the workbook. We never stayed in class the full length, and he gives you lots of bonus points just for coming to class. Freeman is hilarious. Easiest chem class at USC.
Not the best but not the worst either. Does not do enough practice problems in class. Pretty much had to teach myself since I had few examples to go over. Definitely need the book. Do the practice problems at the end of the chapters in there. Exams are difficult. Expects you to already know how to do the problems when you go to class.
Dan is incredible. He teaches chemistry using analogies, metaphors, and breaks down hard concepts in ways that anyone can understand. He even taught some material in ways that you can get the right answer without a calculator, which is great for the MCAT. Take Dr. Freeman if you can!
Love this man. He's hilarious but his class is tough. Do a lot of studying outside of class and memorize material. Tests are hard. Drops lowest test grades which is nice.
While he is a very nice and funny person, I struggled in this class. He flies through lectures. We would get out 30-40 minutes early most days. It was nice to get out early, but we did not really go through the material in depth. He expects you to learn a lot on your own, which I do not do well with. Great guy, but I would not take him again.
Lots of lecturing and such. Very hard material to understand but he makes it much less painful. Very funny and upbeat and makes it somewhat easier to understand. Not many grades
Freeman was overall a good professor. If you do all the modules and assessments online you will survive the tests in class. Funny, optional attendance, large lecture. The only downside is he's an Alabama fan.
Freeman was a great professor. He usually lets you out of class about 30 minutes early. We did online tests which I found not to be hard at all, but next year I believe he will be switching up the method. Overall, I enjoyed his class. Lots of information, but you honestly don't need to show up to class to learn the material.
Freeman is a fantastic professor. The lectures are not required but he relates the information to the attendees in a way that is much more understandable. The textbook is essential to the class, as is the access code, so don't delay. I had family issues this semester taking him and he was very responsive and helpful in making sure I kept pace.
I am terrible at chemistry, but Dr. Freeman made it interesting. Assignments are fairly easy. Exams are very hard. Attend class and pay attention.
I absolutely love this man! He makes lectures entertaining and I really do not like chemistry. If you get the chance to take this man you are extremely lucky! He makes you respond yes or no but offers like 25 extra credit points at the end of the semester to make sure your grade Is where he thinks it should be.
Freeman is such a funny guy. I am terrible at chemistry but he made lectures not as bad. He just goes extremely fast and its hard to retain any information. The assessments are nothing like the exams though, and the exams are very challenging. With extra homework and the lab grade, you can get an A. Just study after every lecture.
This course specifically was a pretty easy A. You don't have to attend class, but he is super helpful if you do! Great professor and super helpful.
Dan Freeman is awesome!!! He's hilarious and makes chemistry somewhat easy to understand. Homework and assessments were simple and tests weren't too bad. Although he goes kind of fast through lectures, I finished with a 99 in the class because he made the content so easy to understand. He's a great guy and loves chemistry! I would take him again
One of the best teachers Ive ever had! His lectures are thorough and he wont move on unless everyone understands whats going on. If you go to class youll pass the class.
Dr. Freeman is a funny and caring professor. He wants everyone to understand the material and makes lectures less boring. He does go by fast, leading to early dismissal, but you walk away with little knowledge of the lecture and have to learn it on your own. Lots of homework and extra credit will help your grade. An A is possible.
I really enjoyed his class, he is a great teacher and makes sure we all understand before moving on. It wasn't hard to get an A if you studied and did all the online modules.
His lectures were always interesting and I learned a lot. I would take him again in a heartbeat. The organic chemistry sections were very challenging so make sure you dont get behind. He gave homework and practice assessments that werent bad but really help your grade. Loved him as a professor!!
Dr. Freeman understands that Nursing is so demanding and does everything he can to help you and to get an A. All of our tests this semester were online so that helped a lot.
One of the best at USC. I hated Chemistry in high school, but Dan Freeman is the man. Put in a little effort and he will get your through. The only people who don't do well are those who expect an easy A.
Honestly one of the best professors at USC. Makes class extremely interesting and the subject easier to understand.
He does iclicker questions every few classes so you dont really HAVE to go to class but when you don't, you feel super behind. I had him for CHEM 112 and 102 and he def isnt an easy A, but no college level chem class is. He's funny and tests aren't too hard
TAKE THIS CLASS. EVERYTHING ONLINE NO LAB EXTRA CREDIT. I have 105 as a final grade.
His rating is really great, but personally did not like him much. He does not do many examples in class and he talks way too fast and moves through lecture way too fast. If you do not go to SI or have a good recitation TA, you will struggle, especially if chemistry is not your thing. With that being said, he is still the best option.
Freeman makes lectures actually worthwhile & he always lets class out early. He is a good prof but my recitation TA honestly helped me understand the material more than his lectures did. The exams are fair & there are never any surprises on them; Freeman will also curve the grades or throw out questions if needed. I would take him again if I could!
such a fun professor. easy A for non science majors and tests are take home. class was an hour and 15 minutes and he made it only 30 minutes everyday. once you get an A you don't have to go anymore or take final
The content if this class is not inherently easy (for non-science majors) but the fact that the tests are online and he gives a lot of extra credit makes it much easier. If you go to class you get a ton of extra credit and it helps for the more difficult questions of the tests. Worth the time to go if youre not good at chem.
Dan is my Man! His Chem 105 class might be the easiest science credit anyone could ever earn. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you do get extra credit from in class iclicker questions so it's worth going. Class literally always got out early.
Everyone seems to love him but I don't understand why. He moves through lectures way too fast and goes over very few problems. The few times I went to talk to him he was very condescending and rude to me. His tests are much different from the lecture and my TA taught me more than he did. If chem is not your strong suit, I do NOT recommend.
Dr. Freeman is a good teacher but not the best I've had. He is pretty funny and gives extra credit, but he goes through the slides too fast and doesn't go over many examples in class. Tests were slightly harder than you would expect.
Dr. Freeman is a great professor, he teaches the material fast but he is happy to back track if asked. Attendance is not mandatory but is taken for extra credit points in the end. He cracks the occasional joke and he makes sure the class is paying attention. He doesn't check his email often. Ask him in person before or after class or email your TA
Dan is the greatest man on the planet. Was nervous going into first semester as a nursing major cuz I suck at chemistry. He flys through his lectures so be prepared to write fast but he literally prints the entire years worth of slides. He is so funny and if you tell him to slow down he will. 25 extra credit points just for nodding your head
Really great professor, just a really difficult class! Tons of homework, but its helpful with the hard material. Exams are hard but they are multiple choice which is nice. Freeman gives good lectures but skips a lot of the examples and isnt accessible outside class at all. Overall though he really does a good job at teaching a really hard subject
This class was a challenge but if you are willing to put in the work then you should make the grade you want. Dr Freeman was a great teacher. He did not just read from powerpoints like some of the other chem professors. He also gave the class extra credit at the end which as very helpful.
Literally the best lab science for non science majors. Show up and do your iclicker and get an A. Literally gave everyone 18 extra credit points at end of semester, almost in possible to get lower than a B.
Freeman is a great chemistry teacher, you can really tell he is passionate about the material. He is really good at explaining things in depth and if you listen and take good notes, you'll do fine on the exams. His exams were online when I took him, but even if they aren't anymore, they are straight forward if you pay attention in class.
Freeman is really good at explaining chemistry, especially since this class is tougher than 111. He likes to do examples in class a lot to make sure everyone understands it enough before he moves onto another section of the lecture. your grade is basically determined by your test average, but the tests are multiple choice. really good teacher!!
If you show up to class your grade will go up by a letter. Everything is online and records his lectures so you can watch them at home.
good teacher. he teaches fast but it is worth it if you read your notes and review. go to SI session too. you don't have to go to class but you get extra credit. super nice guy!
i had him with a class of about 300 but i still understood everything clearly. He has enough online work so if you don't do well on the exams you still have a chance.
He is a kind dude, no doubt. You go in, take notes, and leave. He gives random extra credit, so be there the day he does. Super easy to talk to and ask questions. His final and midterm are both all multiple choice.
a really cool, funny professor. attendance is not mandatory, but honestly go. he goes by lectures really fast, but you can stop him and ask questions when you didn't get it. does online modules and online assessments (exams). he gives extra credit when you talk to him about exams or just show up for lecture. midterm & final are m.c.
If you're a visual learner like me and need the professor to work through examples in class to understand the material-do NOT take this professor. He always skipped through examples and talked so fast I could never keep up. I always did my homework, went to tutoring, and studied my butt off but I still had to withdraw because I was failing.
Do NOT take Dan. he straight up lied to our class and denied that the class last year didnt have an in class midterm and didnt have an optional final. You will end up taking a final that has nothing to do with what he specifically told you to study. If you want to pass, dont take him
I'm a nursing major and if you are one too, this class is mandatory. This class is living hell unless you're good with chem. The information is hard but Dr. Freeman is AMAZING. He will explain everything for you and he gives a lot of extra credit based on the class's performance. He assign homework modules that gives you a lot of practice problems.
Freeman is a very cool guy who loves chemistry, no doubt. I feel that if the class size was smaller, he would have been an awesome professor. However, my class got the short end of the stick. He goes through material too fast and never takes up a whole lecture. If he would utilize class time, students would benefit. Super hard and unrelated final.
If you pay attention to his lectures and keep up with the work you should have no problem in this class. He genuinely cares about his students getting good grades and gives ton of extra credit that will boost your grade up a whole letter. Would really reccomend him!!
I'm going top be completely honest, I went to his class for the first week of school, for the midterm, and the final. I self taught, did the online modules, and did the online exams. I didn't get below an A on anything. The class is easy to finesse if you are good at chem. I got a 95 on the in-class midterm and an 86 on the final (no studying).
Freeman was a great professor. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does problems that can't be found outside of class so going to class is very helpful. He gave us a ton of extra credit and was a great professor.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He was super difficult and is not easily accessible outside of class if you need help. If possible, pick any other professor. Im not sure how he has such high reviews but he was honestly really bad this semester. Maybe something changed
Don't take him, there are many better options. The tests are more difficult than you would expect and he does not do a good job of preparing you for them. He wastes a lot of time in class explaining things that don't matter and is not that accessible outside of class. Gave 25 extra credit points for being present and answering questions correctly
Really easy class to get an A in. Just make sure you pay attention in class and work the problems that he tells you to work on. You will never stay in class for the whole time either which is a huge plus. Also, be prepared as he does go fast.
Dr. Freeman is hilarious and a great person outside of class. However, his lectures don't really relate to the exam and he isn't very accessible outside of class. The final is super hard so beware of that.
Dr. Freeman was my worst professor this semester. He went through lectures way too quickly, and although most of the class had little understanding of the topics at hand, he would let class out 30 minutes early each class meeting. He was lazy and didn't care about his students' success. 10/10 do NOT recommend.
Dr. Freeman was an awful professor. Lazy and uninvolved.
Dr. Freeman's class was my favorite at the beginning of the semester, but it quickly became my least favorite. Halfway through the semester, he got lazy and stopped teaching us
DO NOT TAKE! One of the hardest professors I've had at USC. While he provides slides, he looks at them, doesn't explain them, says its not important and then it shows up on the test. While he does provide extra credit at the end, if you aren't understanding the material for the exams, it won't help. He is very hard to access outside of class.
Dr. Freeman is super nice and funny, but goes through lectures very fast. I had no trouble understanding the material, but most of my classmates seemed confused a lot of the time. Exams were online which was super nice, but the midterm and final are in class so don't wait until the last minute to learn/study everything.
If you arent in nursing or STEM, take 105 for your Carolina core lab course. Online labs and homework that are ridiculously easy, and 3 online tests. Thats it. Oh, and if you go to class all semester and click in for attendance you get a tonnnnn of ec points. Easy A. Buy his textbook which is just the years worth of PPT slides and use on tests.
Freeman is probably the best 112 professor and even though chemistry is terrible, he will actually help you learn it. He takes attendance for one random person each class so you can get away with not going. The tests are hard like all chem tests, but Freeman is good with his TA's and will try to help you learn. You have to study a lot
took him for 107. class was supposed to be in person but he said it was actually online once i got there. it was super duper easy. i recommend taking 107 with him for an easy A. if you have questions he holds a lot of office hours and is very nice and helpful.
Chem 105 is basically an online course which is really nice especially for non-science majors. Basically if you do all the labs, modules and take tests on time you should be successful. Dr. Freeman has class but it is not mandatory it is mainly for questions or if you have any issues. Definitely recommend this if you need a science lab credit
Freeman was a great professor. the textbook wasn't used unless you wanted additional practice but the lecture notebook is required. he relies heavily on examples and explanations rather than by the book. he is so funny and really wants you to succeed. you have to attend class and participate or you get points off.
The class is pretty difficult but Freeman makes it a bit easier to understand. He only teaches on what is for sure going to be on the exam which is nice. You always get out of class early. Just study and pay attention and you should be ok!! Hes also super passionate about chemistry which is really nice.
Technically its not an online class, but you don't have to show up if you don't want to. He "cancels" class every Friday and all of the assignments and labs are online and due dates are easy to find. Have to be good at keeping track of deadlines for this class. He isn't very accessible outside of class but there's a TA. Take this non-science majors
Okay so Dan is a great guy & makes class super interesting. HOWEVER, if you don't like to be randomly called on don't take him. I learned way more when we online due to COVID then from Dan.
Dr. Freeman is a great guy and an even better instructor. Made our class online at beginning of semester and it made it possible to succeed. As long as you do your work and turn it in when you are supposed to then this class shouldn't be too hard.
Freeman was absolutely amazing! He's the reason I'm considering a Chem minor now. He was so engaging and almost always let out lecture early. His examples were fantastic and supplemental to the lecture guide. Only downside is he goes really fast, but I think it's 100% worth it. Lots of OWL Homework, but I think that's the whole CHEM 112 dept.
The greatest Chem class of all time. Super easy and assignments are all easy 100s. Tests aren't hard and he gives a ton of extra credit. Knows no one is a Science major so he makes it easy for you. Highly recommend taking this class to get your science credit out of the way.
Not too bad. Class only made me cry a few times. Super helpful and understanding guy. Hybrid course so ALL work is online. 3 modules, 3 exams, a weekly discussion, and 7 labs. The Final was optional and he dropped the lowest exam! Take him
He is very good and knows how to explain the material well. He will give you everything you need to know on the test. Make sure you do your readings with class as he does call on kids in his class to answer questions.
Freemen is super energetic and fun. He gets through the material for the day and then lets you out early and doesn't waste your time. Class was too big to take attendance because he didn't like clickers, so he would randomly call on 1 or 2 people a day for EC. Go to every class, and study the previous semesters test and you'll be just fine. Curves
Professor Freeman knows what he is talking about when it comes to Chemistry. He gives you everything you need to pass the test and let us use notes on the tests. He explains everything really well and you can refer back to your notes or the recorded lectures to help teach yourself though all of the way.
The absolute best professor! He really cares about you being successful, and he tells you exactly what you need for each test. He will do a lot to help make sure you succeed! Although chemistry isnt easy he helps a lot!
amazing professor. makes lectures funny and the info is put into simple terms. multiple choice tests. Studying with friends helps. Make sure you take notes and write down his examples for later. Not the most tech savvy, but hes willing to answer any question you have. TAs are great also.
The class is very challenging, Dan is a good teacher but the material is extremely hard. He trys to be understanding with grades and gave extra credit. Wants his students to succeed. Beware of exams, you need to study.
Freeman is a good option for 112 but you do have to put in the work for an A. Chem 112 does the grading scale based on class performance so my year an A was a 94 and up which is frustrating. If you do all the practice questions in the textbook you will do well on the exams. He curves a bit at the end as well. He talks fast but you get out early.
Whenever I had a question, he would always answer it. Gave extra credit towards the end of the semester. Class is kinda hard but look back at the recorded lectures and you'll understand. Love him!
Lectures are usually shorter than class time, but can contain A LOT of material. Sometimes Freeman goes fast but he will always slow down and answer questions if you ask. Overall he cares about his students and is passionate about his job
I had Freeman for an online class, and we didn't interact much. He recorded all of his lectures and you worked at your own pace. I liked the class because he taught Chemistry in a way that it would make sense. He also knows that the students in this class are not Chem majors so he would allow open note tests and offered lots of extra credit.
Love this professor . Didnt interact much since it was online . Tests are HARD !!! I do not know anything about chemistry still but I ended class with a high B. He does teach kind of fast but other than that I love the way he teaches .
Best professor ever! He is SO willing to help you in any way he possibly can; literally gave us an extra 100 points if we did a homework assignment that was due anyway and then added 50 points to our final grade. He wants you to get a high grade, it's near impossible not to pass as long as you do the bare minimum. He's so understanding and helpful
Professor Freeman was by far my favorite professor this semester. He basically hands you an A if you do the work he asks you to. All exams are open note and he gives tons of extra credit points. He wants you to succeed and is willing to help you anytime of day. Highly recommend!
This man is a true angel and I would suggest him to anybody. Not good at chem? He will practically give you points for anything. He is so caring and understands that chem is hard for a lot of people and continuously tells you that he will maximize your points and to not worry. I have never agreed more that this man is truly Mr. Worldwide.
Freeman is an easy A for chem 105 and Ive heard that hes great for his higher up chem classes. You can use notes on exams and he drops an exam grade. Most assignments are an easy 100 and you can finish with more then a 100 if you have a basic understanding of the material.
Mr. Freeman was an amazing teacher! He does talk fast in lectures, but he records them so you can go back and check! He lets us use notes on every assessment and gives us a lot of extra credit!! Definitely cares about his students and wants us to make the best grades!
Dr. Freeman truly is a nice guy. There were only 6 grades total that went into the grade book, 4 were exams. I'm not the biggest fan of his teaching style but I know others love it. Heard amazing things from lower chem courses ab his teaching. Had to teach myself everything in this class, studied for hours on end to get a C (with his extra credit).
Dr. Freeman is probably one of my favorite professors I've ever had. I loved his style of teaching & he recorded lectures where students could go back & rewatch them. When I was dealing with death he was very understanding & reassured me of my grades. He assessments are easy & the homework, study more for the midterm & final! Look out for EC!
freeman is such a cool professor and I would definitely take him again. he does speed through the lectures but is super good at answering questions and doing practice problems to help.
Freeman is a good professor and is an amazing chemistry teacher. I had him as a hybrid course, but you weren't required to go to class and could go online if you wanted to. He is kind of a pushover though, and only does what other teachers are doing.
Its a chem class. They are hard to begin with, but Dr Freeman tried his best to help us out, especially since it was a large class. It is definitely not easy, but if you take notes and pay attention, you can do well! I would definitely say to participate in SI sessions.
He is a great professor for chemistry. Im not good at it but he did his best to help everyone understand and get the best grade we could. His exams are on lockdown but he would hold last minute reviews.
Dr. Freeman wasn't a bad professor by any means, but he took far too long on elementary subjects and taught to the people who've never opened a chem book in their life. If that's you then you will probably like him, but if not then you'll be bored and wishing you could just go do the homework on your own without being stuck in class.
Took the class asychronously. Everything was made available at the beginning of the semester and was very clear of the deadlines for the assignments. Extremely easy to follow and notes super easy. Everything is given to you. Definitely recommend for the Carolina Core chem credit. One bad thing had to pay for outside website for discussion posts.
Daniel Freeman is easily one of the greatest professors here. His lectures are super informative yet easy to understand, and he works with you to make sure you are keeping up with the material. He uses Lockdown, but allows notes on homework and exams, and all of his questions come straight from the notes.
I got a 96. After skipping the last three weeks of class. 1 HW, 1 Pack Back discussion post, 1 Quiz, up to 1 Lab weekly. No exams. 100% Command F the lecture slides & take this class with a friend because the only thing that will make you get less than an A is missing deadlines. But don't expect the prof to care or have any communication with you.
No exams. Just labs. Great professor with lectures and powerpoints available. Get the notes and you'll be set for this class. I was able to work at a faster pace because he posts the whole semester from the start. Freeman even opened up all the modules at the end of the course to make sure you can get everything complete! Awesome teacher.
If you need to do science with a lab for Carolina Core take this class. Professor Freeman is super cool and chill. No tests or final just a homework, quiz, discussion, and sometimes a lab every week all very easy. Class is upper laid back and you have all 7 days to do the work. 100% would recommend. I hate chemistry, but this class is a cakewalk.
I took this asynchronous online. I loved it. I was scared because its chemistry but the quizzes are easy and the homework you can do as many times as you want. The lab instructions are clear. Most of the time its basic math. 100% take this class if you can. Easy A
This class was all online asynchronous for me and wasn't too bad. There were slides and then modules every week with a quiz. Was not too hard, felt like a little bit more info than my Honors Chem class in high school.
i loved him! he does assign a lot of homework but he opens up the modules at the end of the semester so you can make up any that you missed. we had no exams in his class and the labs were super easy. all you have to do is just watch the short videos under the modules and look at the powerpoint and you'll be good! such a good teacher!!
I was really hesitant to take Chemistry in college since it is not my best subject but this class was truly very easy! If you put in some effort and complete all the modules you'll be just fine. He posts all the modules at the same time so it makes it easy to get ahead. You def have to listen to his lectures to understand the material though.
Professor Freeman is the best! I loved his chem class! If you need to take chemistry I 1000% recommend!
Professor Freeman is the best chemistry professor I've ever had. The class was straight from the textbook, and the homework helps you understand what you're learning rather than just being busy work. He is super chill, I would definitely recommend.
The online section of Chem 105 is seriously the easiest thing you will ever take. I spent a max of an hour per week on the online assignments.
Dr. Freeman is great. His class is mostly difficult because of the content not his teaching. His lectures can be a lot but he provides you with the resources to do good. He answers any questions you ask and does a lot of practice problems during class.
He's such a good professor! Really cool guy, he makes the class easy, he's funny, and super knowledgeable about what he teaches! Would highly recommend!!
Dr. Freeman is an absolute gem. You can tell he loves teaching and really cares for all of his students. The class itself is a bit difficult, however it is completely possible to do well if you work hard.
Dr. Freeman is a great prof. He explains things very well and talks through all questions that people ask. You have the same things due every week at the same time, so you can get into a rhythm of doing his work. In person lectures are what i recommend because he will talk to you and get all questions answered, but online lectures are good too
Love this man. He answers every question directly and goes above and beyond to make sure his students understand the material in a class which can be very hard for some people.
I took Dr Freeman for chem 102. Dr Freeman is so caring and really want his students to succeed. You can clearly see that he has a passion for chemistry. He is so nice and enjoys his job. Highly recommend!
Dr. Freeman is the best! He is very funny, he made his 8:30am lecture entertaining. I never liked chem in high school but I really enjoy it now. You have 1 homework assignment and 1 quiz every week that go along with the lecture. This class does not have a lot of work but you definetly need to keep up with it.
I absolutely hated chem, in high school so I was really nervous about taking it but he is very personable and makes his exceptions very clear. A normal week is 2 lectures, a discussion post, a homework, and a quiz. Theres also a midterm and final. Its the same thing every week so its pretty easy to get a hang of. He gives plenty of examples.
He understands that nursing is hard enough so all quizzes and exams are open notes. Chem is just difficult in general but he really wants for his students to understand the concept and will answer all questions. He is funny and tries to make his lectures fun to be at.
Freeman was an amazing professor! His lectures were great and he made sure to go over the material you needed to know for exams and quizzes. The class was set up in modules and you have homework and a quiz due each week that were open notes. There is a midterm and a final which can be difficult but if you study you'll do fine. Definitely recommend!
Professor Freeman is one of the best. His class consists of a big lecture hall where he goes through the modules, he also had pre-recorded modules if you needed to go back and relisten. You're going to have to take good notes to do good in this class, but I learned so much and ended with an A. Take him!!!! What you put in is what you get out.
As far as chemistry goes, this class was a breeze. Thanks to covid he has pre-recorded lectures for each module so skipping class is not the end of the world. There is homework + a quiz for each module, quiz does not open until you get a 90% on homework, and it's hard to not get a 100%. Organic chem sucks, just do your best. Lab is super easy too.
Super easy chem 102 class. Mostly online work. Not difficult and a good teacher!
Has a big boi class. He holds great lectures; however, sometimes you will have to check the PowerPoint as he skips some of the material. Labs for the class were easy dubs. Overall he is a W professor and 10/10 would take again.
Such a good professor! Dr. Freeman really cares about students' success and tries to help everybody in such a big lecture setting. He tries to explain things in a way you can understand and make lecture not as boring! The course is difficult because of the material and there's a lot of hw and quizzes, but he does his best to help you succeed!
Freeman really cares for his students and recognizes that chem is a tough class. His lectures are easy to understand, and you can attend them online. Homework, quizzes, packbacks, labs, a midterm, and final compose your grade. Answers any questions in class and gives extra credit. Would definitely take again.
Prof. Freeman is a good teacher. His lectures are interesting and engaging HOWEVER he is not empathetic towards grades. He will not round your grade up, even if it is on the verge of an A. He does not curve, and do not rely on extra credit. His midterm and final are hard even though they're open note.
I love Dr. Freeman, his lectures are amazing! Weekly grades consist of quiz, HW, and pack. You have a midterm and a final which are both open notes. He teaches really fast, but has recorded lecture on BB. You can really tell he is passionate about his job by the way he teaches it. I hate 8:30 and chemistry but he was by far my fav professor I had.
The class is super easy and Prof Freeman is great! Everything was online and each module took me around an hour a week. The quizzes and labs are easy if you take notes and watch the lectures. He even gives extra credit by asking questions and helping each other in the class gc. I definitely recommend taking the class for an easy A
Freeman is great! He's the only chemistry professor for nursing chemistry, but I can't imagine a better professor. He goes pretty fast, but he slows down and thoroughly explains things if people are confused. The first half is a review of basic high school chem and the second half is the beginning of organic chem. Take good notes and you'll be set.
This class is pretty easy if you watch the videos and read the powerpoints before doing the work. You can work ahead and finish the class early. There are participation points through GroupMe.
Chem 105 online is such an easy A. No exams or tests. A few labs, weekly modules and quizzes. I just needed one science credit, and I am glad this is what I chose! He's nice and responds to emails.
I'm not a stem major, so I was very worried about this class, but Dr. Freeman did such an amazing job of making the material understandable for someone with no chem background. He was always willing to hop on a zoom meeting and explain things and it helped so much. Great guy. Highly recommend him.
Class was easy if you pay attention during lectures. not too much work. Will answer any questions you have. Has a good way of explaining things. Lectures are interesting.
Perfect class for credit and online. Super organized and checklist ready to just mark off. I didn't need to email this professor due to the class being easy, but I'm sure he would respond quickly and have the answers to your questions.
Loved this class. I am a business major so when someone told me this class was easy and no time was needed for this class I couldn't believe it. This class is so easy! I worked ahead and finished all the assignments before spring break. It is minimal work for a lab class and great to add to a busy schedule since you can work ahead and not worry.
He makes everything online. Awesome guy and counts as a lab. Super easy I finished this class in 2 weeks. Can be time consuming but if you grind through it you could finish really early. If you need help he's always avaliable.
Easy A. This was an asynchronous course and done at your own pace. Took forensic chemistry with him but it's clear he doesn't care about or know the forensics part which kind of sucked because I was excited about learning in this class. Still a great prof and would take another chem class with him.
Class was overall not bad. Was just like high school chemistry over again. Every week you have a module with 1 homework assignment and 1 quiz and there are several virtual labs. He grades on points though, so once you reach 900 points, you have an A and you're done. Really good science class if you aren't a STEM major/science oriented.
Prof. Freeman is awesome and so easy. I didn't really learn much, but it's definitely an easy A. I finished the class halfway through the semester. 10/10
If you need to take chemistry, take him! I enjoyed having Freeman. I am not the best at chemistry, and I did very well. Open notes for everything.
for a class called forensic chemistry, 11/12 modules focused on organic chemistry. as someone who wanted the forensic side, it was a let down. but if you're okay with that, then 100% take this class. he's a good teacher i just don't think he really cared about the 'forensic' part. take for an (kinda) easy A
Easiest online class I've ever taken. You don't need to by the lecture outlines for the online course because everything is in the powerpoints and reading. Weekly modules can be completed in one thirty minute sitting. Chill professor, would take again!
Good professor and good class in general. Was really disappointed that this was not a true forensics class- even our labs really had nothing to do with forensics. Most was beginner OChem material and it was pretty easy. You can do homework over again and quizzes are straight from the notes- no tests or exams.
I have never been the best at chemistry, but Dr. Freeman made learning chemistry enjoyable and made it much easier to understand than my past experiences. There are only two exams, the midterm and final, but many open note quizzes. He offered lecture videos online that you could go back and watch which is what got me through. 10/10 recommend.
This class has a lot of homework and it's somewhat difficult. If you really want to learn it will be an easy A. 10/10 class and professor.
I took this class online this summer and I would have to say he was pretty awesome with his grading system. My class was only a month so there was a lot of lectures to watch at once but overall, he was a good teacher.
I absolutely LOVE and ADORE Dr. Freeman. He is a great teacher, loves his students, takes a lot of pride in his teaching, and you can tell he loves his job. Material is a little tough, but as long as you watch the lectures you should be just fine! He is accessible outside of class and is always willing to help. By far my favorite professor. 10/10.
Best Professor to take Chem online with.
This class was stupid easy. TAKE IT.
I took chem 105 online. You can go at your own pace and I finished the entire course very early on. Freeman is very accessible and will answer any emails right away. I would 1,000% take him again. As long as you complete your work, you will definitely get an A.
The lectures are all pre recorded so you can look at them at any time. Theres homework and a quiz every week but he makes it so the homework has unlimited tries and you have to get an 80% before you can take the quiz. The quiz is just like the homework which makes them easy. Only exams are the midterm and final. I would definitely take him again
He doesn't take late work and there's something due every week but he sets up his class so it's easy and you understand the material. You have to do the HW until you get a 90 to move onto the quiz. There's a groupme that is 10% of the grade where you can help each other out. He also drops your lowest quizzes and has pre-recorded lectures.
Very easy grading scale , he is very reasonable if having trouble accessing modules and easy to get ahold of
This class was not bad! And that's coming from someone who has consistently been terrible at science for 15 years straight. The work is doable if you put some time into it. The online labs are super, super easy. The professor responds super quickly if you need anything. Definitely a good course to take for non-science majors that need the credit!
He was a very nice professor, if you pay attention and attend the lectures you will be fine. Honestly, the only reason I rated his class at such a high difficulty is because you can fall behind easily and chemistry in itself is no easy task!
Freeman is a great professor. i love the way this class was structured. i did not go to class- he posted his lectures online so i would watch those, take notes on his printed out slides (get these they are a lifesaver), complete the homework and quiz for the week. it is the same structure every week. he is understanding and will work with you!
The class was all online pretty much. lectures were not mandatory and he would post them online. I stopped going to class a few months in and still made an A. Content was easy but got really hard really fast. weekly quizzes and homework but all pretty straightforward. also gives extra credit at the end of the semester.
Dr. Freeman has to be one of the best chemistry professors I have ever had! His grading system is the most student friendly system ever. The final was only worth 15% and the midterm was only worth 10%. Weekly lectures with modules that include and homework and quiz each week, which accounts for 50% of your grade. Lectures are all posted online.
He is an excellent communicator and gave great lectures.
This class is set up to be an easy A. I didn't mind taking it as someone who failed chem in high school, this was an easy class and even the hard material was easy to figure out or answers could be found in the class group me. Just take this class if you need a nonmajor lab science
Quite possibly the easiest online chem class for college. I am SO glad I took him. Weekly modules were due at Sunday every week at 11:59. He's very tech savvy and can answer questions fast for some. Lowest graded assignments turn into extra credit. Still in shock that this was a lab credit.
Absolute GOAT of a professor, take him if you can. He gives you all of the work for the semester at the beginning of the course. You are able to work ahead as much as you want and can actually complete the course within 3 weeks or so. He also gives extra credit to boost your grade. Easy 100 if you put in even the most minimal effort.
This professor made class SO student friendly, assignments were reasonable and homework is always an easy A, (helped my grade a lot) He explains material very well & There are only 2 tests (lock down browser) the rest is homework&quizzes(all open note) He did a very good job at making sure i was LEARNING the material, not just memorizing for a exam
Very easy class. Went to the first class and he told us we didn't have to come back if we didn't want to. All modules were posted at the beginning of the semester and we were allowed to work ahead. This was literally one of the easiest classes I have ever taken.
Took his nursing chem and only went to about two class. Everything is posted online and the weekly quizzes are not on lockdown. Midterm and final were hard but if you do well in the rest of the class you will be fine. He gives some extra credit at the end of the semester as well.
The only way you can take this class and not get an A is if you literally never open the course. You only need 900 points and then you don't have to do any more work, and most assignments allow multiple retakes. My only complaint is that you have to pay $120 to access the homeworks and quizzes, and those make up pretty much all of your grades.
Dr. Freeman was so kind and made it as easy as possible to do fantastic in chem 105.
Literally the easiest lab science credit you could take at UofSC. I finished all the work in the first week of the semester and was able to not think about the class again. Can do assignments multiple times until you get the grade you want. I finished with a 113 somehow.
Easiest online science class you can take. If you take the in-person section, attendance is not required. One module due every week for the semester, but they are fairly easy to complete. Points are given starting from zero, so missing one module won't cause you to lose points. Can finish the entire class however fast/slow you want.
Professor Freeman is so understanding. This is the easiest science course that you can take at the university. The modules are all online and easy to do once a week. You can finish this class in three weeks.
At first, it may seem like alot but it really isn't. Chem 105 is intended for business majors and he understands that not everybody is good at, or cares about chemistry. If you wanted, you could finish the class in a week. Due dates are every Sunday, but it's really at your own pace. Especially if you get ahead. TAKE THIS CLASS. You won't regret.
I signed up for this class in person, but all the work is online. You can go to the lectures if you want to but they are not mandatory. Every week you have notes, hw assignment, quiz, and a lab. You can get all the work done in an hour. You can also work ahead so I finished the 13 modules in like 5 weeks. Easy gen ed to get out of the way.
All around good professor, just very few things graded on!
Chem102 was definitely one of the easiest classes I have taken. As long as you pay attention during lectures (which he records so you really do not even need to go to class!) and do all the assignments to have a base knowledge, you should do fine on the midterm and final which are all open note! it's no class to stress about.
This is an easy chem class as long as you keep up with the modules. all lectures are recorded so you can do it on your own time! Freeman is amazing and I actually understand chem now, take his class!
Easiest class take it if you need a lab credit
This class is very easy. He has online lectures recorded if you miss in-person lecture. You have hw and quiz for every module but hw is unlimited attempts. Quizzes are easy and you have a midterm and final. Everything is open note, midterm and final are online with lock-down browser.
Dr. Freeman is amazing! The quizzes, midterm, and final are open note (tests on lockdown browser) and the homeworks have unlimited attempts. All the modules were online so you could do the whole class by yourself, but I definitely benefited from going to the lectures. Take him if you can!
Absolutely loved. Such a kind man, definitely would recommend to non science majors.
Dr. Freeman is an amazing chemistry professor! He is the funniest and such a well-respected man. He does talk and teach a little fast but he posts his lectures on BlackBoard so they are easily accessible to rewatch. If you have questions, he will always be available to answer them. 10/10 recommend his class!
LOVED HIM, and this class! I took the online version that consisted of two quizzes, one test, and one lab assigmnet a week! not too much work and exam was short! no midterm
He is very rude when trying to get a hold of him to ask him questions. I emailed him asking him to clarify my grade because I was confused and he was not only unhelpful but very rude. Would not recommend.
Okay teacher. Said he would help us with grades and not to worry, then did nothing and left many stranded. Start the year strong and do well on the 10 question quizzes for each unit, even though you do not see what you get wrong. However, pretty manageable class.
There are weekly quizzes but they are only 10 questions and the midterm and final are open notes but are on lockdown browser. He will offer some extra credit at the end of the semester and the lectures are posted on Blackboard so watch those and take notes during his lectures. Dr. Freeman is funny and amazing at teaching chemistry!
Sped through lectures to try to get us out of class, told us he would look into extra credit (twice) and never gave us any. Homework assignments were nothing like what was on the graded quizzes, the exam questions were worded completely different from the notes. Had a 94 the whole semester and ended with an 88.5 because of the difficult final.
Do not take the accelerated chem 111 course unless you are ready for upwards of 8 hours of work per day. I do not think Freeman himself is bad, but this is definitely a course you should take in-person, or at least not over three weeks.
If youre going to take the nursing chemistry- take him everything is open note ... I did not end with a good grade but it is possible if you actually put in the work every week and try to learn and not just skip through the homework TRY TO GET GOOD WEEKLY QUIZ GRADES it matters
I had Freeman for 105 online and it was such an easy course. All of the lectures had powerpoints and video lectures. Each lesson had homework and a quiz. Homework was multiple attempts and each quiz had 10 questions with 1 attempt. Some had labs and those were pretty easy. The final was on lockdown, but open notes.
Easy online class, mine was a 7 week course- I did it in two weeks extremely easy. There was short reading, HW, Quiz, and an open book final. Easy Chem A
Very easy class. As long as you took notes and studied, everything was easy. Only fault was he never responded to my emails even if I followed up.
Super easy course to get your lab credit out of the way! It is at your own pace, however he puts deadlines in place to help you stay on track. Homework assignments are a guaranteed 100 and the quizzes are even easier. Labs are super easy as well and never took me more than 15 minutes. The final is open note as well.
makes nursing chemistry as easy as it can be - weekly homework is guaranteed 100s if you just finish them, weekly quizzes are even easier than the HW. i did have to study for midterm and final but they r open notes! freeman is very caring and funny, great prof
If you have to take a lab, I would recommend this specific one. All of the assignments are open from the first day of class, so you can really work on every assignment at your own pace. I was able to finish the class and take the final two weeks before it was due. It is relatively easy content. Labs are very easy and you get unlimited attempts.
TAKE THIS CLASS! I'm not lying this was the best course for the 4 hour lab credit. The labs were annoying but everything else was fine. He responds fast to emails and posts often on blackboard. Heads up the final exam is on lockdown WITH the camera on.
Little interaction with him since the course is online and asynchronous, but seems nice. Opened all assignments at the beginning of the semester and unlocked the final early so students could complete it whenever they wanted within a three week period. All grading is done automatically and immediately after submitting things.
Even though this was all online, I could tell he was such a caring person. He had no exams besides a short quiz for each module and the answers came right from his lectures. Highly recommend.
Dr. Freeman was the best professor for a non-science major. The HW and Quizzes are straight forward and fair if you go over the slides. Final exam was open notes. Take class to get credit out of the way.
Easiest online class you can take especially for 4 credits. Do NOT buy the textbook from the bookstore unless you actually want to learn it. you will definitely need a chegg subscription to have all the answers on the quizzes and homework. I finished this class in like 3 weeks (you can even do it faster) and it's a literaly semester class.
This was the easiest class I have ever taken, I finished it in like two months because you can work ahead as you please. Final was lockdown, but open note and super easy. The class was very structured and it's so simple. I enjoyed this class because it was the lab science credit and was online. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH PROFESSOR FREEMAN!!
Super easy lab credit, seriously take this class it isn't hard to do and just get out of the way. Everything is no lockdown browser (notes, etc.) minus the final exam (150 points total, that you can use your notes on) but if you do good on everything else throughout the semester you're fine
easiest course i've taken. recommend to everyone! Mr. freeman is super chill.
Very simple class. I took it online and it was easy to follow along and understand. The quizzes don't take long and are very similar to exams.
This is an AMAZING class to take if you want an easy A. As long as you take your time to ace all the homework and online labs you will be fine. I got a C and a D on the midterm and final and still ended with a 95. Fill out the guided notes and you will pass everything
TAKE THIS CLASS!! Professor is super nice and is very quick to answer to any questions you have. The information is not challenging and you can use your workbook on the midterm and final. The homework and quizzes are very easy because its exactly what is on the notes. There isn't too much work even for it being accelerated.
Easy class, take him for the credit if you are a education major.
I would take this class so many times again! All of the work is laid out from the beginning of the semester so you can work at your own speed besides the few deadlines that are very spaced apart. Everything including final exams are open note.
If you read the online notes you should be fine. Does require you to buy textbook that you can only get at the USC Library. Super easy lab credit compared to the other options. Deadlines are super spaced out so you have plenty of time to do the assignments, and you can pretty much learn everything before the tests if you have to.
Easy way to knock out a carolina core. I took the half semester course, and the workload isn't bad. He pushes back a lot of due dates too. All of the material is pretty easy and comes with lecture videos. Online labs aren't bad either. The exams don't have much weight either, so a bad grade won't affect your overall grade that much.
I am a business major and was not sure of taking a chemistry class especially on line . The work was clear and Professor Freeman always responds to your emails. I am taking 106 next because I actually enjoyed the class . Would highly recommend !
So easy. Two exams. The rest is homework and quizzes that you can get done as soon as you want. Great class to take if you need to have a science with a lab credit.
This was a super easy class to knock out a lab credit. It is online and only half a semester, and the exams are super easy! I would highly recommend taking Dan Freeman for your chem course!
I took this class online just to get a lab credit, and it was super easy. Professor Freeman is swift to answer any questions you throw his way. The course load is fairly light. Just make sure you spread it out and don't cram. Tests are open note and are basically a copy of the notes. 100% recommend taking this class.
Super easy class
Class was extremely easy. I found that doing all the lectures and homework helped to keep a high exam grade. Does use full lockdown browser and camera when taking exams, but only 2 exams for the 8 week course.
5/5 Take his online class. Dont buy the lecture notes you don't need them. Class is module based that you can complete whenever you want aside from given deadlines. Midterm and Final are respondus lockdown but not many questions and they are easy. Get all the modules out of the way early, I finished them all in four days for the semester, very easy
Took winter class. Would have got a higher grade if I took it during the normal semester. Final avg for class was 80% (34 people dropped). Hard class to do in a short time. Dr. Freeman is good, and does review sessions which helped. There is HW, three exams, and one final. Final replaces lowest exam. The key to a good grade is doing practice exams.
Easiest science I've ever taken. I watched all the lectures but you didn't have to to pass the class. Exams are respondus with the webcam, but the sheets given are basically the exam content. Easy class, would recommend.
this is an online chem class that counts as a lab as well. so manageable and he's easy to reach out to. stay on top of the work and you will be fine. midterm and final are proctored. don't fall behind on work. this is only a half semester course
It was an eight-week online course that counted as a lab credit. It was super easy, and as long as you don't wait until the last minute, you'll do fine. He does modules but locks them after the deadline, so you won't be able to complete them for late credit. The midterm and final were proctored. Highly recommend him!!!
The best advice I could give for anybody wanting to take this class is to NOT procrastinate. Those who are able to manage material well at a past pace with excel at this class. Professor Freeman is very helpful if you reach out to him via email if you need help with anything! He genuinely cares for his students!
I took CHEM106 online with Dr. Freeman, and it was a very easy class. 65% of the grade was homework and quizzes (very easy), and the rest was for two exams. The final was not cumulative, and the exam review topics he provides are exactly what are on the exam. As a finance major with no chem since high school, I would absolutely recommend it!
pretty easy, all the work is simple and the labs are easy, you just have to do it. 2 tests one midterm and a final both on lockdown but pretty straight forward from what u learn
Easiest science with a lab course that I could take as a business major. I finished the entire class in like 4 days of working through the modules.
Very easy class. We had 13 modules so we had a homework and quiz for each one. There was 7 labs and then a midterm/final exam. The exams both use respondus but they aren't bad. I got a 65 on the midterm and got an A on the final and still passed with an A. Take him I highly reccommend!!!
