Very interesting and intelligent man! Made EFN a great experience!
Very easy and interesting. Also he is very flexible and understanding. Class goes pretty fast becasue he has discussions and gets others involved.
Assignments are simple, graded easily. The activities we have to do are kind of dull but what can you do. A lot of people don't seem to like him but I think he's pretty good
this guy will blow your mind. take him for small group if you have efn.
Great guy...if you don't mind talking about Native Americans the whole semester! I think I'm an expert! He's very upfront about things and will come at you if he thinks your wrong, or is intrested in your viewpoint. Interesting and entertaining though.
Contrary to other reviews, this guy is a hard-core liberal who does not accept viewpoints that differ from his. He uses this class as a platform for his political agenda, not focusing on the discussion of the group. Goes out of his way to be offended.
Stuff was easy, but it wasn't easy not being able to give your opinion. If always got shot down. he is good about attendance and journals, but shuts down ideas.
Easy class. Grades papers easy!! Just do them and get the credit, but if you want to give your opinion during class this wouldn't be the class for you.....it's his way or the highway. He's right and everyone else is wrong if you disagree.
He made me realize so many things, and touched on subjects I have never been made aware of before. Grades easy and not to much work. Very intelligent man and is sincere and passionate about what he teaches, I would recommend him to anyone.
The class is easy, papers take 20 min to whip out but he is very oppinionated and if you disagree with him.... you're done.
He's a funny guy and made class interesting, but I kind of resent that fact that this guy's supposed to be teaching us to have open minds, when his is far from it with a lot of things.
I hated have Dan as a small group leader, if anything he made me more ****
dan is very opinionated, but i think college students need to hear his side b/c most of us dont think like that. hard to give opinion, he will try to turn it around, but that should make u want to fight/defend your opinion even more. he likes to debate, so take him up. very easy grader!
This class is super easy but he is really opinionated. He also likes to call on you randomly so listen during class. You won't get out early because he drags out class but if you need help for the test he is there.
the class is a joke, he is a joke so take him for an a
his class is not fun and he likes to pick on people.
He's a jerk. He thinks his ways are the only right ways. He hates racism yet all he does is talk crap about whites. He is a jerk and he usually doesn't have a clue what he is talking about.
I liked him... kept the class interesting, funny jokes, class got long sometimes but i didnt mind going.. very easy grader
He is very opinionated but he definently makes you look at things from a different point of view which in my opinion is why you are there. He likes to know what you think, so if you aren't a talker I wouldn't recommend him. good guy overall pretty hilarious
I loved his classes! Very interesting and engaging, never got bored! Likes to challenge students. Not much homehowrk, except for 1 page paper every week , as response to readings from the book. Helps every time when you ask him. I would recommend this class to everyone!
prof green is an easy grader when it comes to journals. show up, turn in your assignment and get a good grade. talked the whole 2 hours, a lot about american indians and other subjects. pretty fun guy, but i didn't gain much about the overall EFN class from his discussion group
He is very oppionated and sometimes hard to swallow
He is a closed-minded jerk. I would never take his class again.
Take someone else if possible. Found out we are missing lots of handouts. Told us to be brief on our essay QA for the midterm then turned around and said we were brief needed to write longer explanations.
Intimidating at first, however makes you think from a different perspective. Knowledgeable, yet opinionated. Fun exercises in class, easy journals every week. Study for the midterm, final and write a well thought out paper and you will do fine. Funny guy, however sometimes you may think his comments are ludacris
All in all a good instructor, tells you what to study for the essay exam portion. Easy grader on journals.
Honestly the worst prof i have ever had. he has no technique in teaching, just reads from the book. i wish there were more choices to take this class with a different professor!!
I had him for lecture and it was so hard!!! He goes all over the place in his notes and doesn't follow the study guide at all!!! He just reads a bunch of stats!! DON'T take him for lecture if you can help it!!
Horrible teacher, very hipocritical. Do Not Take. He gives horrible lectures and then you have to take Koppelman's hard tests. Take Koppelman for good preparation
Probably one of the worst lectures I've had to attend. Simply hard to pay attention to his monotony. Apparently he is taking over large lecture for EFN 205 so there really is no way around him anymore.
Green is a nice guy if you get to know him a little bit. He comes off as a very hard person though. The class is interesting, but he does a pretty good job in making it really boring! I do not recommend him.
My first test (35%) should of dropped right? NO WAY, ended up with a B in the class. Why? Go and listen to him, he motivates you to be a better person. Being a minority, he understands how to overcome diversity. Definately Recommend everyone to take. He will be offensive at times but it's life!!
He's a pretty nice guy...makes you think a lot. If you have him in general assembly its really boring but in small group he is very interesting. He is VERY oppinionated and says some crazy things so you might leave his class angry sometimes.
One sided views that make me mad every week, hard to follow along and take notes. Can't avoid him for lecture but get someone else for small group.
If you want to learn about american indians for 3/4 of the semester and about women's rights for a day, gay and lesbian rights for a day, and so on take him. Journals are easy, midterms are hard. Lectures are hard to follow and don't prepare you for test. Also is very opinionated.
At first, hard to agree with, but Dan Green is really REALLY smart and is very worldly. He has a way of explaining everything in a way students can undestand and uses lots of life experience. Funny too....good guy
Dr. Green is awesome... seriously the best professor I have had.
Nice guy, but extremely boring!! the class talks about overcoming the traditional learning style of lecture, notes, test. but that's all he does! cant avoid him for lecture, but get someone else for small group! interesting stories, though. overall, a fairly easy class if you study for the midterm and final.
He was really and knows what he's talking about. There's a lot of talk about Native Americans. Mid-terms were hard. Advice: Do your culminating project before midterm. And attend lectures and discussion... it's vital if you want to pass his class. 10 points off whenever your absent whether it's excused or not.
lectures can be hard to follow and boring and he copies right from the book so reading isnt necessary but going to lectures is. he's very wise at times and other times hes very one sided. overall decent.
Green was an interesting teacher. He spoke his mind, and really did make the 2 hour classes interesting as possible. He graded easy on everything but the tests, so really make sure you study, because he has no leeway on them! But I would recommend him he's a nice guy.
Interesting guy. All he takes about is Native Americans, so it gets a bit tiring. Has opinions and won't hear otherwise. Called me a dualistic thinker when I was giving my presentation. Lectures are useless...hard to take notes from what he says. Take him only if you have to.
For lecture hes not very interesting and reads from the book but great for discussion group. He likes to tell stories and loves involvement, if you participate and study the book concepts the class isn't hard.
Funny guy, will try to catch you off guard. Participation is a must in his class...he tries to get you out of your comfort zone whenever he can. You will have fun in his class, and maybe just learn a thing or two as well.
Green only teaches small group not and not lecture. However, this means he does all of the grading because there are no tests for this class (awesome) only 2 papers and a project. He can be opinionated, but is super funny. Not much help on anything though and doesn't answer emails. Easy discussion if you participate, I didn't mind going.
Although Dan is somewhat, alright, extremely biased towards Native Americans, he's a good guy, with good morals. He really makes you think differently about certain situations and people who aren't like you. This class really changed some of my biased opinions. Two papers, not hard. One powerpoint presentation. I'd recommend Dan!!
Dan is one of the coolest guys out there teaching. You really have to have an open mind and then you'll love the class. Isn't hard at all, has little one question quizes every once in a while, but as long as you listen you'll learn a ton!
Take him for some new things you want to learn. This class really teach me many many new things about bias. He is really helpful if you show that you're involve and active. Some people said that he's not friendly but he will extremely friendly and really nice if you talk to him. Recommend.
Super easy teacher, but he criticizes religion a lot, thinks he knows everything about everything, and tries to make you feel ashamed for being white. but it's a lot of fun arguing with him in class because he usually gets everyone to participate
You learn a lot. Will talk incessently about indian oppression. He is stubborn and IS always right.. Likes to question some good things - but is too much of a know it all to really gain my full respect or liking. Teaching should be in part, a two way street - not so with Dan Green.
This guy sucks; if you challenge his ideas he will punish you with terrible grades.
He must always be correct. If you ever disagree with him, you are wrong. Hr makes you feel bad for being white. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
He knows his stuff. You will learn a lot. He's very opinionated and it's his way or the highway. If you agree with him, or fake it to make it, you'll be fine...Take a different professor if you can.
Dan Green is the worst teacher in history. Avoid him at all costs. If you are white, republican, in the middle class, or a male, there is no point in taking this teacher, anything you say or do will be wrong. If you are right, he will immediately ask you to find sources, but if you agree with his views you will do well. Horrid Teacher!
He has a strong opinion but he is a good teacher. Had a lot of good talks in class.
Mr. Green was awesome. You have to have an open mind and speak up. He may argue with you but he wants that.
Dan Green is the bomb. Yeah, the class itself is fairly white bashing, but if you challenge some of the ideals you can have a pretty good argument with him and he gets everyone to participate. Do your work and it should be a pretty easy A.
If you have to take EFN 205, don't take it with anyone other than Dan Green. Great Professor!
Prof Green is a nice guy. He is very knowledgeable about the topics discussed. Being native american, his perspective is very strong and his interest in the topic is shown during every class period. He expects you to show up, participate, and be respectful. He doesn't grade too hard. If you make the effort, he'll reward you for it. Not a bad prof.
Dan is very passionate about what he's teaching. He's a little intimidating at first, but don't be afraid to argue with him as long as you have a good argument, because that's what he wants. However, he has no tolerance for ignorant people, so if you do argue, have your facts straight. He made small group really enjoyable.
Dan is very passionate about what he teaches. He asks for opinions and the class is a discussion class, but he is not too accepting of opinions different from his own. Overall a good prof and I would recommend him. 2 page papers due every week and an 8 page paper at the end but they are easy to write and he is not a picky grader.
I ABSOLUTELY love Mr. Green. He is so interesting and challenges you to think! I love the class. I love him. It was fantastic. You have to be super open minded, but if you are it will super pay off.
Dan is the man. He has had a lot of life experiences and I value his opinion. I have the most respect for this man. Its not easy to take on some of these tough topics, but necessary. I appreciate all your work. Thank you.
Avoid taking him as a small group instructor. If you are a Christian you will be picked on the entire semester, and your views will be torn apart and ridiculed. He used the class to preach his ideas and views on the world, and is not accepting of any other view point. He is a very angry man, who in return is offended easily. Worst professor ever.
This class is very laid back in the classroom, but you need 10 community service hours outside of the classroom and you need to complete reading a one page paper each week (SUPER easy). Also you have to give 2 presentations, which are very easy as well as short.
Dan Green is my favorite professor on this campus. He is a great man that is very easy going. He is a laid back and preaches his beliefs and shares his life experiences as a Ho Chunk Native American. He is a very nice man and believes in taking an active part to stop social problems. This is an easy class if you go into it with an open mind.
Professor Green is definitely knowledgeable about what he's teaching. His lectures can be long but I always walked out of class feeling like I learned something. Pretty much if you show up, participate, and do the assignments you're guaranteed an A.
I have never felt more disrespected in my life. If you are Republican, female, well off & educated there is no point in taking this teacher. He will ridicule you to your core & give you bad grades for not agreeing with the weekly readings. He spoon feeds ignorance & one sided information. If you have an educated opinion, you'll ALWAYS be wrong.
Worst professor I have ever had. He is extremely disrespectful of your personal beliefs (unless they match his) and treats his class period like a round the clock nursing care facility where he spoon feeds indoctrination and bias agenda to kids who do not know any better. Conform to his beliefs of you will NOT get an A.
Dr. Green is awesome! This class is an easy A but totally opens your mind to social justice topics! I definitely recommend taking this course.
If you are looking for a class to fulfill your geneds and get an A this class is for you. There is a reading response due on Friday of every week, but only 2 pages long double spaced. You can skim the readings and if you relate them to your life you're guaranteed a 10/10 on each one. NO TESTS. I gained a new perspective on many issues.
He is a very good teacher!!!
Professor Green is somewhat intimidating at first, but he lightens up as the semester progresses. There are no exams in this class! However, there are 10 reading responses that are two pages long. Also, there is community engagement followed by an 8-10 page paper due at the end of the semester, which replaces a final exam. I would recommend!
You couldn't pay me to deal with this man again. Had an A and worked hard in his class only to somehow get an F on the final paper. Upon emailing him he stated that no one in the class got above a C on the final paper. Does not teach but rather complains all class. This man has issues and should be seeing a shrink rather than taking it out on us.
Dr. Green is anything but a good teacher. Coming out of this class I not only don't know how to become a better educator but I walked out of his class everyday feeling bad about my life. He will constantly shove his views down your throat and make offensive remarks throughout class. If you don't have the same views as him good luck passing.
Learned a lot. Fun and enjoyable professor.
Dr. Green was one of my favorite professors. He goes against the norms of your typical classroom, and it takes a little while to get used to. He feels very passionate about the topics that he lectures about, and you can tell. He is a VERY educational man, and his lectures stick with you even after class. He is a great guy, and grades fairly easily.
Dan Green is a interesting person. Going into his class, myself and my classmates were often intimidated by him. After spending a semester with him and learning more about him, He is a really nice person. He grades pretty easy. One of my favorite professors so far. He touches on sensitive topics, and does tell you his opinions and views.
It takes a certain person to really enjoy Dan. He is an overall great guy. A little intimidating, but often very funny. Compared to other EDS classes, he goes by what's happening around the world - not just by the book. Very passionate about being a professor and March For Our Lives/Me Too.
Dr. Green is the best professor I've had at UWL. His teaching style is a lot different than most professors, but in the best ways. He is a very educated and informed man and pushes students to better themselves. I learned more in his class than any other class I've taken! And it's an easy A, easy grader - highly recommend!
Uses different ways of teaching the information to you. Very insightful.
He doesn't really teach like a normal teacher. At first, I felt I didn't learn a lot about education, but I actually did. He uses different methods of teaching. He's also a really easy grader. He's super funny, though. He has a lot of stories which makes class interesting.
Cool guy. He's pretty laid back in class, but he can be a bit intense when he talks about issues he's passionate about. He does give out a fair amount of work, but only for the last few weeks of class. You have weekly reading reflections but they're easy. He's also very liberal and political, if that bothers you, he's not the prof for you.
Not a ton of work until the end, but this was my favorite class this semester. Lectures are more like a class conversation and as long as you try to contribute in lectures, you'll be good. Prof. Green cares more about the real world applications of his content and does well to relate to current events.
One of my favorite professors. DG's lectures are conversational and very informational--learned so much in his lectures. Doesn't stick to the text book, really wants you to learn and apply situations. Political and can get riled up when talking about something he's passionate about. No exams, just papers and attendance and maybe a few group things.
Green was a nice guy. No tests. Only papers, but he grades them pretty easily as long as you read and include things he says in class (so listen!). I actually enjoyed this class, and he was a nice guy to talk to. Very passionate, somewhat intimidating. He gives good feedback on all the papers so you can improve! I would recommend taking him!
Professor Green is terrible at teaching virtually. We met maybe 5 times the semester and a majority of them were cut short. He did not teach via Zoom at all and gave very very little direction on anything. He was not approachable at all ( in person or via email) and seemed like he couldn't be bothered. Sad because it's an important class.
I signed up to take this class synchronously, and we didnt meet once. The only assignments were to write a 4-6 page paper each week, but there were vague guidelines and I found it quite frustrating. He was always weeks behind on grading and left insufficient feedback. Its a shame and disappointing because this class covers many important topics.
dg is a super chill guy. the only downside is that he takes forever to grade and isnt very tech-savvy.
Signed up for an in person class and DG changed at the last second to asynch. Weekly response papers to multiple readings and sources. Not difficult if you are reading the syllabus. Last 3 weeks of class have 2 papers (6+ pages) and a lesson plan. DG grades slower but values good work and isn't a fan of online learning.
We had one assignment per week that had simple instructions and easy-to-understand concepts. My problem lies with the three big final projects at the end of the semester. Green didn't give students the rubric or criteria for our last three assignments until the week that they were due. His instructions were very unclear and difficult to understand.
dg gave no direction on any of the 3 big assignments for the end of the semester. He is not approachable and does not respond to emails in a timely manner. He is a very slow grader and does not give good feedback to fix your work.
Professor Green has very vague assignments with no criteria/rubric, and gives minimal and unhelpful feedback. He is not approachable and we heard from him only a handful of times via email throughout the entire semester. Would not recommend.
The content of the course is super interesting and helpful. Lots of readings and papers due every week. Professor Green is not tech-savvy at all. Really hard to get a hold of him. It was supposed to be a sync class but changed at the last minute. Took weeks to get back feedback. Easy grader but unclear guidelines for the 3 major papers/projects.
D. Green is an interesting professor, you can tell this is definitely one of his last years teaching. Not very tech savvy, he will take a while to respond to emails. He also will have you writing papers every week, with the topic on the syllabus. You will have some big papers and a large group project at the end of the semester, START EARLY!
