He is a good teacher, it is hard to understand him sometimes because he has a thick Romanian accent, but he explains things over and over and is helpful when you ask questions, easy quizzes, easy tests

Good Professor, BUT very theoretical which created a lot of confusion for the class. Tried to train the class to think about the problems rather than used a recipe and plug numbers in (gotta respect that!).

Good professor. He's really nice to all of his students. If you do the work then you will do well in his class.

This one great, very caring, intelligent math professor. I am sooo lucky to have him, esp. since I suck at math. If you have trouble with math take him. He will help you with the homework and go over anything you need. He's very good in explantions.

Very nice professor. Open books tests, including the final. Homeworks are pretty easy, and he's always willing to help you if something confuses you. Randomly funny too. If you have to take a math class, take this one, and take it with this professor.

best class ever. open book tests. i think i was a little too smart to be in the class and he knew it, so i just sat in the back with the other 5 smart kids and we'd make fun of the kids who didnt know how to FOIL. he also explained everything to them very clearly and was always willing to help. he's a good guy, take all his classes

easy enough. let's you use book and notes during test. just needs to pay attention. sometimes he goes off taling and then it's lke you lost me...nice guy. collected hmwk at the beginning but then he stopped b/c got lazy. helpful if you seek his help.

Prof gives open note tests, h.w collected every class. Tests are harder b/c they're open note. Class attendance is a must, somewhat fair grader..not many curves. Accent is a little hard, but it's comprehendable

He is a very nice guy. All tests and quizzes are open book but the problems are really tough and it's difficult to get everything done in time. His curves are great! He teaches quickly, which is necessary for the course, but it causes him to be a bit unclear. If you come in for extra help, he's very willing to give assistance.

You will probably never work as hard in any other class you take. He is tough but he is always more then willing to spend the time out of class (office hours +) helping you understand the material. Great teacher...would take any other class he taught.

"Dr. Dan" as he had us call him was an experience. His accent was thick and difficult to understand at time. It didnt help that the material was difficult as well. He is very stoic but tries to be funny at time. Unusual combination. He smokes like a chimney. Open book policy is helpful, but the exams are still very difficult.

Dr Dan is completely out of his mind and I mean that in the best way possible. He does all the assignments he gives the class so he knows how hard or easy they are. Always wants his classes to do well and pushes you to learn. More then willing to help outside of class always :) Love of my lifee!

Dr Dan is hilarious! He knows his stuff and teaches it the best he can. i hate math and by doing all of his extra credit and going to his office hours, I somehow got an A- despite getting a 71,72,and an 89 on the three tests. Once u get your grade, you dont have to take the final if you are happy. Great guy.

Dr Dan is such a good prof. When it comes down to it though, you just need to do the hw. He is willing to help and is much clearer than any other prof with a Dr's degree in math. Cool guy, fun class, final not mandatory. Im taking him again

Even though the rating below is a disgrace to the English language and lacks in following standard English convention more than I can bare, I must agree with them. That said, I am currently a student in one of Dr. Dan's classes and he makes learning mathematics fun and exciting. I highly recommend him to any student who is serious in mathematics.

THE best professor EVER!

Best math professor i've ever had, very fair and smart. Take advantage of practice problems he gives for tests, they are extremely helpful.

Pretty easy class, as long as you pay attention. Homework isn't mandatory, but if you don't do it, you won't do well. It was so easy that I stopped doing it, then suddenly I was struggling. So keep up with the homework and you'll do fine. Awesome grading policy. Don't have to take the final if you do well on all the other tests. So do well.

This class should be an Easy B+ for anyone that pays attn (I slacked off). He makes fun of students but only to keep everyone's attention. If your thin skinned he's probably not the professor for you but if you can appreciate his humor - take him. OH! Best part? If you're happy with your grade in his class before the final yu dont have to take it!

Dr Dan is a math genius who is able to explain every single question in the textbook. Every test had bonus questions and if you do well enough you can be exempt from the final. I recommend taking Dr Dan

DAN IS THE MAN!! If you like to laugh and learn, this is the class for you! Do what he says and you'll learn CALC very well (WebAssign, HW problems). He's also very approachable! Go to class, nail his test review guide and you're good. ALSO NO FINAL, if you like your average before the final. He's awesome! I actually learned a lot!

Great professor do his webassign his exams are out of 125 and a 90+ will get you the A impossible not to leave with an A in his class unless you sleep or never show up.

Great professor.His grading system is very helpful and he explains everything well and knows everything about the subject. Can answer every question you have. My only complaint is he stands in front of the board when he writes so it's hard to see. But the final is optional &it counts A LOT if you do well. The final raised my grade from a C to B+

This class is very easy. He goes over everything that will be on the quizzes and tests. Quizzes are online and you can retry the problem multiple times if you get it wrong. Cheat sheet for tests and the final is optional. He's also fun and through with the material. Great class and easy A

Take Ismailescu if math is NOT your thing. Attendance is not mandatory to do well, and the material tends to be pretty easy. Tests and online quizzes are pretty easy as well. The only thing is, if you don't show up for class, he'll get sarcastic and kind of...well...sarcastic. I'd recommend him though.

Dr. Dan's class is the only math class in which I've gotten an A in since freshman year of high school. His grading policy is very fair. I hate math but I didn't mind his class at all.

Extrmly fair! You have 3 tests the whole semster all tests are 10 knda esy questns worth 12 pnts each question so you have leway to get a good grade. Even offers you to not take final if you like your grade at the end of the semester. And HW is not mandatory just take the easy online quizzes. Easy class! Honestly 90% of class didn't take the final

Take him! He's not hard. 3 exams, 1 final. You can bring a sheet of notes to the exams. Online quizzes, you get 3 tries for each problem. Don't have to do the tb hw. You learn about venn diagrams, probability, if p then q, truth tables, its not hard math. I didn't take the final, got a B and was thankful I didn't have to take another science class

Dan is the man! He is very adamant about attendance, but you are in college paying 40k a year, the least you could do is go to class. 3 tests and 10 online quizzes makes up your grade. Final is not mandatory if you are happy with the other components of your grade. Online quizzes will boost your grade if you usually choke on tests.

The best math teacher I've ever had. I struggle with math and have been dreading taking calculus. He explains concepts well, available outside class. He puts extra credit on tests, and if you do well on the online hw it replaces a test score. Final is optional and can boost your grade if you need it. You have to show up and study.

Dr. Dan knows his calc and he can explain it very well. He does have a bit of a strong accent but he gets his point across. He's very easy to talk to and is very helpful during office hours. There are only 3 unit exams and then a final, but if you do very well on the quizzes and the 3 unit exams you're exempt from the final.

I love Dan!!! His tests are very fair. Three tests that are out of 100 points but you can get at most a 120%. Basically you get a free 20 points. I managed to get over 100 on all three. If you do the online homeworks and pay attention in class there is no way not to get an A. Plus he is very amusing and class flies by.

Dr. Dan is a great professor. Would highly recommend him for any math class. Extremely helpful in Calc 3 and has an awesome grading policy.

Dr. Ismailescu is the man!I enjoyed his class and his time teaching during his lectures. He is very chill and has a nice laid back attitude. Though if you find his class hard, he has open office hours (highly recommended), as well as the help of the Math tutoring center. Passing Dr. Dans Calculus 2 class IS DOABLE if you put in the work.

The material of the course is extremely hard compared to calc 1. Dr. Dan definitely tries to make things easier. He knows what he is talking about. Highly recommend office hours. Didn't do as well as expect however, its not because of Dr. Dan. Math72 is hard in general. I would recommend taking math with Dr. Dan in general.

Dr. Dan is probably the best math professor I've ever had. He is a great lecturer and quite a funny man. Calc II is a difficult class in itself, as its material is hard, and as someone who was not an engineering/math/physics major in that class, I did better than I expected. His teaching is effective, and I would highly recommend taking Dr. Dan.

Dr. Dan is amazing! His grading policy is extremely fair and is really there to benefit you. Took him for Calc 2 and I really enjoyed the class. Gave 2 webassign assignments each week so you had to stay on top of those bc they were graded. No pop quizzes. Gave hw qs from the tb that were not graded but helped bc he wld go over them in class.

Dr Dan is great. Honestly only take calc in college if you took it in high school. If you do decide to take it prepare to work a lot but tbh the work pays off because of the way he curves every test. He's definitely the EASIEST calc teacher but he's still tough.

Dan is an amazing teacher. Calc 2 is just terrible but he does his best to explain the material and prepare you for exams. The exams are challenging but he incorpartes a curve within the test. He even allows you to have a cheat sheet which helps a lot. He gives webassign quizzes which are due 3 to 4 days but they help with learning. Honestly 10/10

He is a real gem. He has an EXCELLENT sense of humor. I BELIEVE, HE IS THE ONLY PROF. THAT MAKES FINAL OPTIONAL!!! Tests r out of 120. HW optional. WebAssign 2x week (Must). Do good on ALL 3 tests + WebAssign; final optional. This semester he gave out extra credit 8 pts total added to ur avg. Avg b4 final > 70, final optional. <70: must take final

His grading policy was more than fair (tests had 120 possible points but went into gradebook out of 100), gave 2 webassign assignments a week but really helped prepare for the test, he's freaking hilarious and is very helpful when you are stuck. Great professor, gives a lot of homework and quizzes but if you do the work he gives you'll do well in the class. Grades tests out of 120 but he doesn't curve tests. Also let's you skip the final if you do well enough on the midterms.

Great Professor, very funny and easily available outside of class.

He's very smart and entertaining. Sometimes the smart backfires though because he goes through examples way too quickly. Even when you get how to do what he's teaching it can be hard to follow. He at least makes up for it with his jokes. Make sure you double check that you understand everything before each test and things should go by smoothly.

Great guy, patient, and funny. If you're already good at math, then you're going to have the best class of your life in math. Even if you're not very good, I think he's good enough to make you improve. He's smart and fast. He goes through questions very swiftly and without maxing. 3 tests, no finals (For C and above, if you ok with it)

Dr. Dan is a fantastic teacher. Calc 2 is a hard course in general, but if you pay attention in class and you do the homework, you should be fine. He is the funniest professor I've had and takes time to know his students.

The absolute best math prof. He cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. Calc is tough but he will take time to work with you outside of class. Has a sarcastic humor that grows on you. Do the HW and you will be fine.

Calc II isn't easy but Dr Dan makes information digestible and he's funny af. Tests are out of 120 so it's easier to get an A than other calc ii classes. He genuinely wants his students to succeed and also if u disagree with the way he has graded something, GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. If u present him with a sound argument, he will give u credit back.

He's a very good professor with a very fair grading scale. Tests are not too difficult and he gives practice problems that are similar to them. You have online quizzes around 2 times per week and those are pretty easy. His lectures are a little fast at times and he does like to cold call, but he's very knowledgeable. Would recommend!

Genuinely don't know what these other reviews are saying. Ismailescu literally gives a review sheet before every test with problems that are exactly like what will be on the test. His tests are out of 120, so the A range is 93-120. If you don't understand something, go to his office hours. If you try, it's impossible to not get an A.
