Dan loves to talk about himself! Lot's of stories, loves his Harley (and himself)! Good teacher, however. Learned a lot in his class.

Behavioral Science Stats is hard but Dan made it as easy as possible for the students. Great love for psych and a good teacher at that. Likes to help you out with take-home tests and won't move on unless EVERYONE understood it. Definitely would recommend him.

I think in his profession it would be hard not to talk about your personal experiences, he's a psychologist!!! Anywho, I would recommend him. He gives take home tests for crying out loud!! Dan is a cool guy. He uses his personal experiences to help you to understand what he is teaching you in class. Its a mind thing... duh.. he is a psychologist... His class is easy all you really have to do is be there and you can get an A. He discuss what is on the test answers any questions. If you failed it is cause you didn't care about passing

I am pretty sure everyone got an A in my class just for showing up, no joke. He knows more about psychology than Freud himself! What is cool is that he teaches with real life examples, not out of a textbook. Everything you learn is voluntary because either everyone gets a 100 on a test, or he gives a take home test. Great teacher, great man.

There is nothing better than a proffesor that realizes he is teaching real people. Over-qualified for the job. Shouldn't be teaching. Thats how good this guy is.

I knew the first day when he walked in the room it was going to be GREAT!!! This long-haired, Harley t-shirt wearing biker, is most real teacher anyone could hope for. He has got a passion that compares to nothing I've ever seen. I retained every he taught from the first day.

He makes class very interesting by bringing the text to life. His teaching style is very entertaining. I feel like I've actually learned the material instead of only memorizing it to regurgitate it on a test. I recommend taking his class!

He is passionate and knowledable. He doesn't use notes, so his lectures can be a bit scattered, but I think he makes up for it with his passion for developing excellent counselors.

Dan is an excellent teacher. He is the best teacher I have ever and probably will ever have. He is a little repetitive, but sometimes that is good. I would highly recommend him. He cares about his students and wants them to do well. No matter what the question, Dan will do his best to answer it. HE IS AN AWESOME PROFESSOR.

At first, he is not what you think a psychology professor should look like, but later you get used to the Harley-Davidson leather jacket and beard and all.

WOW, by far the best teacher I have EVER had! He makes a difficult subject interesting and fun. He REALLY wants you to understand and has great was of making analogies to do this. Repetative yes but it will help you a ton. Totally awesome guy I would love to just be able to sit down and pick his brain for a day. He has such a wealth of knowledge!

Dan is an amazing teacher. I actually look forward to going to a three hour lecture twice a week. As long as you take good notes and attend class you can't go wrong! He also gives 5 e.c. points on occasion just for coming to class :)

Dan is one of the best professors I've had. He keeps things going in class and pretty much hands you the grades. Get the book, the take home test are a breeze! And he gives out Extra credit. I would defiantly take him again.

AWESOME TEACHER!! all of the tests were take home and so was the final!!! He lets you keep your tests and the tests always have the some of the same exact questions and answers from the previous one!! The final was just another test! Which was also take home!! There were 2 papers, but basically if you did them you got the points!! EASY A CLASS!!

If you have to take PSYCH 110 this is the instructor to take. Attending class is important, but I guarantee you, you wont be bored. He explains everything in a way you can relate to and he is quite the character. This class with him is an easy A. Take home tests and a few papers to write.

Awesome guy. Talks about how silly psychologists sometimes are as well as giving you a deeper understanding of how to do psychology right. His tests were take-home. Really brings psychology to life with his terrible illustrations and real-life examples. Lectures were never boring, although he often repeated himself. I'd take him again for sure!

Mr. Kelts is an awesome guy. A clinical psychologist who rides a Harley and produces rock concerts on the side. He shows up to class with long hair, Harley Davidson t-shirts, and tight jeans. He really knows the subject well. He makes the lectures pretty entertaining. Tests were take home for my class so pretty easy to pass the class and get an A.

A little hard to follow lectures but he is very knowledgeable. Makes lectures interesting and relatable. Kept my attention. Tests are hard but as long as the class does well, they are all take home! Great teacher, would highly reccommend.

Several years ago, at Bradley University, I took his introduction to psychology course and his clinical psychology course. He inspired me. I went on to earn a Ph.D. in psychology. I respect him tremendously. He is an outstanding teacher.

Dan is an incredible professor. He expects you to read the chapters assigned before class and then during the class time, he brings what you read to life. Only assignments are a unit paper at the end of every few chapters. Every test we had was take home and they were all pretty easy. Would definitely take again!!!

Dan is the best teacher I had at Illinois Central College and I wish I could continue taking him for the rest of my major. He is very respectful towards his students and teaches the material very well. If you do not understand something, he will take the time to explain it to you and help you understand. I strongly recommend taking him.

Nonstructural teaching method. Makes an extremely difficult course a lot easier. He can be very difficult to reach after class though. Highly recommend. Avoid sitting in the first row though.

Fantastic teacher. His lectures are great, and you can tell he really cares about the people he works with. We had five informal papers and five take home tests, so the class is fairly easy but I feel that I really learned a lot. Take your class from this professor!

Outstanding Professor. Cares about each individual person. Available for professional help as well. Only used textbook for answers on open note test. Participation is best in his class. Cares that you learn and not just forget the stuff next semester. Would take again. Class gets out early too! Very minimal homework.

He is extremely receptive to any questions you have to ask him and will try to explain the answer in a way that you will understand! He does have many extra credit opportunities and his "lessages" are very down to earth and best explained as a stream of consciousness that is humorous and intriguing! Amazing teacher! DON'T hesitate to ask for help!

Dan Kelts is one of my favorite psychology teachers I've had class with by far. During covid he has been exceedingly helpful and kind he's great to talk to if you're confused on material and he genuinely cares about his students. The statistics portion of the class is definitely doable even if you arent the greatest at math! Loved this class!

Kelts is absolutely nuts in a good way. Took psych with him over the summer, easily got an A. Warning: the syllabus is incredibly confusing, but dont let that scare you off. Hes not super organized, but he is chill and hilarious. Gives lots of extra credit points and doesnt grade very tough. Genuinely looked forward to this class every week.

Very Hyper and excited every day. Tests are all over the place and most questions are what is talked about in class so show up. Gives due dates but is flexible. 1 HW and 1 EC per unit. Great and easy class

I cannot say enough good things about Prof. Kelts. He is truly the best professor I have ever had. I wish this course was required for psychology students. If you are even considering taking this class - DO IT! Kelts makes statistics so easy and truly makes sure that every student in class understands the material. Such a caring and helpful guy.

Professor Kelts is by far one of my favorite professors. He has a lot of enthusiasm, which makes the class more interesting. He actually wants to see his students be successful I did not think I was going to like Psychology but it turned out to be my favorite course this semester. I'd for sure take another one of his classes again.

It is extremely important to show up to class, because he brings the book's lectures to life in class. This man is inspirational, hilarious, and so smart. Tests are easy and he offers extra credit opportunities with each chapter/unit. He wants his students to be successful more than anything else, and answers every question a student has.

He was honestly a really funny teacher. We didn't really talk very much about the text book in class, it was more about bringing the text book to life with stories from his own life. I really did like his class, the only down side for me was I never knew what my grade was during the semester.

Don't want another boring lecture? Then this is definitely your guy. Lots of energy AND I actually learned something from his class. All exams where taken at home, on paper, and open book. His reason for that is because "you don't learn anything if you don't look for the answers." I think a lot of professors should learn something from him.

Dan Kelts was an amazing teacher and he was realistic as well. You could tell by the way that he talked about psychology that he was truly passionate about it. As a psych major, I loved how easy it was to shoot the breeze with him and learn. But I also appreciated how he spoke with students that were not in the psychology field.

Professor Kelts brings the course material to life with his engaging lectures and genuine enthusiasm. While attendance is mandatory, the open-book exams and flexible policies make the class manageable. Resources like Unstuck AI and the textbook are helpful for staying on top of the content.

I had Dan for Psy 110- Spring 2025, he is absolutely wonderful, educated, knowledgeable, friendly. He changed my whole perspective on psychology with one semester, he mixes lectures with his real life experiences you wouldn't find at any other college. He's amazing, show up to his class on the first day, you will know exactly why!

Breaks down scary and complicated material. Can go off topic or become repetitive in lectures, but does end up explaining most things in an understandable way. Always offers help and wants you to pass the class and be able to actually take things away from the class. Is clear about what will be on tests.

Genuinely one of the funniest professors I've had! He made coming to class so fun because he was just spontaneous and entertaining. He's also a very kind and laid back guy. Never really had much homework either. I would 100% take a class with him again.
