very friendly guy, willing to talk to students about weather, good teacher
No Comments
Class is boring until you get to violent weather 2 weeks from final.
Great class, multiple choice tests. Pretty easy. and loves answering any ques.
very easy, very interesting -- tests reflect lecture, accessible to students
Easy class, nice guy
very smart, willing to help anytime, take his classes !
Great professor. Knowledgable, Clear and Helpful. Love his class
Awesome teacher, knows everything about weather, really great class
Interesting, funny, easy
He loves his subject, but I didn't that much. Class notes the key to tests.
If you're looking for an easy science req. w/ a lab, then take this.
go to class, tests directly from notes, very enthusiastic about weather
only need text for labs, cool prof., easy class
Never went to class and got a B-. Tests are easy, just go to class.
enjoyed class! interesting, good prof who loves weather. sooo easy! take!
really fun, interesting, and easy class. dr. leathers is a great teacher
This class sucks....Don't take this looking for an easy A
Very easy, tests straight from lecture, lab sections are incredibly boring
Cool teacher, very friendly. Easy class especially if you have already taken a geography course.
He is a nice prof, and takes things very slowly. Pretty easy A. Good course overall, although boring at times.
Leathers is the ****... tests are easy
this class is interesting, but it not any easy A. test one is easy that's about it. though he is the walking weather channel
super easy!!
really nice dude, i learned stuff. tells cool stories, as cool as weather stories could be. quite a pleasant class. word.
loves his job. nice class to take. not as easy an A as you think. easy to copy off people though.
Best class ever, dont have to go but if you do its pretty interesting, gaurenteed A if youre not in a coma
definitely not an easy class, must go to lectures and read to do well, I had to take pass/fail thinking it would be easier then it was, I have a 3.5 GPA and this is my only P, be prepared to do a lot of studying, not as easy as it seems
this guy is MR. Weather Channel...its funny how much he loves the weather. Great guy, pretty easy class. It's good bet for group D
He knows his stuff and makes people want to understand the material. The Weather Channel should hire him!!!
I wanna be just like him!
Knows everything about the weather and calls himself a "weather weenie". Lectures are extremely boring and labs are a big pain!
This man is obsessed with the weather. Don't let it fool you, this class is not as easy as it looks, tests can be tricky and the labs are hard to do.
This guy rocked my socks. I though I knew everything there was to know about weather- WRONG. Very informative, explanative, knowledged, and helpful. I loved learning about atmospheric dynamics, quasi-geostrophic theory, etc- Highly recommended.
Knows his stuff. Easy to follow along with. Labs are easy-just take the time to do them well..easy way to boost your grade. Definitely take Meteorology though-I loved it.
Probably the most dedicated professor at this university. Class can be a little tricky at times but overall pretty easy. Cool guy and absolutely obsessed with the weather.
Meterology, very good class. I got an A, didn't have to do too much work. He tried to make the class as interesting as possible. He really enjoys teaching this class, and as a result I enjoyed being there. I would recomend it.
DON'T BE FOOLED BY HIM CLASS IS HARD!! But he is a great teacher and most people think because he is nice the class is easy but you must do WORK! Funny stories and great lessons, I was so interested I didn't study much. BAD CHOICE!I look at the weather in a whole newway,ESPECIALLY LIGHTNING,ASK HIM!LAB TEACH WAS VERY BAD! HE'S A GOOD GUY!!!!
DO YOUR LABS, even though the TA was inept. Use his reviews to make notecards from the book and notes. Go to class and you will do well. I loved this class.
Excellent prof. Wonderful personality. Great teacher.
One of the most enjoyable professors to have. Very down to earth and helpful. Knows the material well and enjoys teaching it. Definitely suggest taking this class.
Loves to teach and it shows. Very interesting class. Easy if you go to class and actually read the text. Likes to make class fun. Good class to take.
Prof. Leathers is an amazing man. He teaches for all the right reasons; he loves his work, cares for the student body, and is passionate about the weather. Great man, great class!! Labs are terrible and boring, attendance is mandatory for these –TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION!! –but would recommend this class!
Amazing Professor; Loves what he does. Take if possible.
Absolutely amazing professor! He loves to teach and does a great job doing so. One of the best professors i've had here. take this class!
Absolutly awesome. take him if you can! Great Professor!
Awesome professor. He really knows what he is talking about and is very pationate about it. Labs are horrible and useless. 3 exams total. Easy A
This might be my favorite I've ever taken at UD. If you get the chance definitely take it, Leathers is awesome and his lectures are interesting (though you will hear quite a lot about his bald spot), I loved analyzing station models! The exams are very straight forward and the TAs are great! TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Leathers is a great guy. Absolutely loves what he teaches. Tests aren't bad if you study and go to class. Read the text book, as well. Labs are kind of difficult and the one TA is a hard grader. Leathers is very helpful and nice so go to his office hours if need be.
He's a nice guy and decent professor. TA was a little too hard in grading labs.
Very easy class, but you will still learn a lot. If you go to class and pay attention, the exams and projects should not give you any trouble. Don't bother buying the textbook, only the paperback Unquenchable book is used.
I took Leathers for 220, and he's one of my favorite at the university, the class is very similar to 220, in that his exams are based off powerpoints, and he gives a study sheet out beforehand and bases test ?s right off that. 3 PBL's aren't too difficult, don't buy the text, just the Unquenchable. I highly recommend this class
This class is great but I'd only take if you're interested in Meteorology or atmospheric dynamics or else the material will be really confusing. Online modules to help understand topics better. No texts except for just helpful handbooks. Exams based off powerpoints with study guide. This guy knows his stuff so if you're into weather, take this
One of the best professors I have had at UD. If you show up to lecture, take notes, go to lab, there is no reason to do poorly in this class. He is very passionate about meteorology as I am so this has been the best class I have had, until I take another one with him.
My favorite professor at UD. He is very knowledgeable and passionate. Exams are straightforward, all multiple choice, and are taken almost entirely from the lecture notes. He's willing to slow down to make sure everyone copies the notes from the slides. Attendance is not taken, but you should go to each class since lecture notes aren't online.
Leathers is an angel. He loves what he teaches and it shows. No attendance taken but go to lecture bc slides are not online. Exams are basically all lecture notes. Not hard material if you study a fair amount. just a heads up, this did NOT count as my science with a lab (marketing mjr). don't need text its a waste of like $200
the only bad thing I can say is that you cant miss class because there is no real way to make up the notes. If you follow his study guides you will do fine, he even says that he takes questions right from it! Hes a great guy and will always entertain questions even if it takes a few minutes to answer
And now Daniel Leathers with the Weathers! Nice guy very passionate about weather. Attendance is not mandatory but exams will be much easier and you won't need the textbook if you go and take notes every class. Labs are a pain but easy enough
Best professor and classs I have ever had. Show up to class, take notes, and listen. He is is a funny and an entertaining lecturer. He keeps you engaged and the lectures never seemed boring. If yoy have any trouble just go talk to him. He is a great guy and always willing to help. Using the textbook is probably the difference between an A and B.
My favorite professor at UD! Leathers is very knowledgeable and engaging. He keeps it interesting by relating the concepts to real-life situations. Exams for this class are entirely short-answer or free-response questions, many of which require math. Luckily, he allows students to use an index card during exams to help remember the equations.
Great professor, very passionate about what he teachers. l He's really good at making the material easy to understand . My only problem is that I emailed him at least 4 times on separate occasions and not once did I receive a response. I found this incredibly frustrating.
Leathers is a great guy, gets a big lecture to laugh and is really educated and passionate. The homeworks are easy and so are the tests. Mostly study out of the book and use the study guides. Go to him before exams . He will tell you exact questions, etc.- it's very helpful. Can take the final early. Don't always need to go to class but get notes.
Dan is the best! Attendance isn't mandatory, but I always went because he is really entertaining and fun. He's very passionate about the subject and really wants you to do well. There are three tests (final is not cumulative) that are multiple choice and five easy homeworks. You will do fine if you get the notes from class!
Take good notes on lectures and you'll be good. I went to every class before first exam, studied notes, and got a B. Second exam, missed some classes here and there, and wanted to get an A, so I really studied the textbook, but got a D because I studied wrong. He simplifies things in his own working for lectures and tests. Don't skip / have a buddy
My favorite professor at UD. He explains concepts very well and connects them to real-life situations. He's very approachable and willing to help. Grading for this class is based mostly on about 10 homework assignments and 3 exams. Exams are of reasonable difficulty and partially involve applying concepts to realistic examples.
Dr. Leathers for GEOG453 is a great professor. Although the material is very difficult, he will make sure you understand it before moving on or meet with you during office hours. Show up to class, do the homework, meet with him if you dont understand something and you will be fine. This was a great class and he is the best professor I have ever had
Dan Leathers is a great professor. He teaches you the basics of meteorology in a way we can all understand them. He also paces his lectures perfectly, so everyone has enough time to write down all of the notes. He's a really nice guys and gets excited when we get excited about the weather, and its adorable. I definitely recommend taking his class!
Dr. Leathers is amazing! Very funny, does a lot of helpful demonstrations, and is really funny. Go to his office hours!! Nicest guy. Even if you're not a science person, this is an easy breadth requirement with a lab.
I love Dr. Leathers! He's a great professor and you can see that he's really passionate about all things weather. He's said many times that he wants everyone to get an A. 5 homework assignments and 2 tests. The third test is a final which is not cumulative.
I loved this class with Professor Leathers. He is a really passionate guy, and you can totally tell he loves the subject matter. I have never had any interest in Meteorology, and took the class as a breadth, but I loved every class. His lectures can be really funny, and is SUPER clear about what is on the tests. 4 easy homeworks count as one test.
I took him as a breadth requirement thinking it would be easy, but it definitely wasn't. The lectures are painfully boring, doesn't make his lectures or notes available online, and he doesn't even have a gradebook online. Nice guy but unbelievably borin.
Most hilarious professor I have ever had. He makes class enjoyable and fun. All you have to do is take notes every class, do 5 easy homeworks, and 3 non cumulative exams. He is so down to Earth and chill. Must take his class.
I love Daniel he is my favorite professor at this school and I recommend everyone take this class. The material is practical and he'll go over something multiple times in different ways so everyone understands. He is hilarious and always telling jokes or doing funny demonstrations. 3 easy exams, 5 easy homeworks, and some tophat questions in class.
Clear grade breakdown, study guides for exams are spot on. Slides not available online so have to go to class to take notes. 5 hw assignments, 3 exams. Some of the material is dry but it can be interesting and he gets really excited about the topics. Really nice and caring professor.
He is the best prof I've had so far and I'm a fourth year. I absolutely adore him. He loves teaching and his exams are so easy. He knows this is a low level class so he's not trying to trick you at all. His in class clickers are harder than the exam. Sweetest prof ever. Would take him over and over again.
One of the best professors I've ever had. He is so caring and makes the subject matter so interesting. 11/10
I would trust Dan with my life. He is my favorite professor at UD and very invested in students' success. I probably deserved a B but I put in the effort so he gave me an A. I would recommend him to anyone who actually wants to learn something.
Dr. Leathers is the best. He's hilarious, and hates the lecture format. He tries to make all his lectures fun and interesting, making his class easy to remember and a standout. His tests are not cumulative and homeworks are easy to do well on. I loved his class and would definitely recommend to all!
The Best
Turned me on to Meteorology! Coolest class and professor ever!
Professor Leathers is really passionate about the subject he teaches and really tries to make his lectures interesting. Class is mostly simple multiple choice homeworks, lectures, and tests. Course work can be somewhat difficult at times, but most of the needed information can be googled for clarification. Recommend GEOG221 if you need a lab credit
I took this asynchronously and it was a breeze. All of his lectures line up with the exams and homework. 4 exams, 5 homework assignments which are the same format as the GEOG221 lab if you take it. Highly recommend the lab as well if you need one. He cares about his students and the material he's teaching. Great guy, replies quickly!
Whether you favor weather or just want some credits, Dr. Leathers is your next go-to for a class. He definitely is one of my top 5 favorite instructors of UD. His assignments are simple to do and his exams aren't all bad. He's hilarious and inspirational. I'll gladly listen to more interesting facts about weather and take note of each of them!
Dr. Leathers is the best professor at UD and its not even close. He cares deeply for his students and the subjects he talks about in lectures. He offers tons of ways to make up work and understands the stresses students face. He does not rely heavily on tests, and focuses more on helping the students learn about what he is teaching.
I took Dr. Leathers for GEOG220 over a year ago, and took him for 453 as an elective. He is really a genuine guy. Cares about his students and his job. The class itself is not very difficult, and I could have gotten an A if I studied more for the exams. But overall a great professor and class!
Dr. Leathers is one of the best Professors at UD. He genuinely cares how you do on your assignments, and doesn't overload you with homework. There's about 4 homework assignments over the course of the entire semester, and you're given 2 weeks to do them. Lectures can get boring but he does his best to spice them up with his vibrant personality.
Dr. Leathers is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is passionate about his work and brings that energy to literally every class. While his class can get a bit boring at times, he tries to make the material fun and engaging. Class is super easy as long as you go to class and pay attention. I would 10000% recommend
Really passionate about what he teaches, really nice and funny guy. You have to go to class to get a good grade because he wont post or send you the slides unless you email him specifically for them. Lecture heavy with slide show to go along. few actual assignments- which were pretty easy, tests were kinda hard- but no cumulative final or midterm
I took him for GEOG220. He is a lovely, caring guy. There were not many homework assignments throughout the semester. On the downside, his lectures did get really boring and he never shared his lecture slides with the notes. Also, his class is exam-heavy, meaning that the exams are worth a lot since there aren't many homework assignments.
Amazing professor who is extremely dedicated and passionate about meteorology and his students. Clear grading scheme. Lectures are interactive and fun - he drives home concepts extremely well.
Dr. Leathers is extremely passionate about what he teaches. The lectures can be boring some days but some lectures are actually very interesting.
Dr Leathers is awesome! He makes the material interesting and fun regardless of what major you are. Attendance not mandatory but everything on the exams comes directly from his lectures. Don't think he is teaching this class again but he deserves a great rating!
Super cool professor really cares about all of his students even when theres hundreds of students in the class. Passionate about his field and extremely knowledgeable. Just show up to class and you'll understand the information.
