Very good and helpful teacher
very good teacher.

Loprieno is the best math teacher ever! Even though math isn't my favorite subject, he made it fun!
He is a great teacher!
HE IS THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!!! HE'S SO GREAT!! HE REALLY CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS AND IS VERY IMORMATIVE!!
awesome teacher and teaches great
Pretty Good Teach. You don't really mind going to his class. Teaches well but classes can get boring.
well he'z COOl teacher had 080 with him made that class fun. GREAT TEACHER. would recommened him any time.
Mr. Loprieno is very helpful if you are willing to do the work. Homework in his class is not collected, but the classes are based off the homework. He is an awesome teacher!! Take him and if you do the work you will pass easily!
My class was a late start class and it was 3 1/2 hours long twice a week so we had to cover a lot during one class. He was extremely helpful, but had to go through everything very fast which made most of us confused but he gave plenty of EC to ofset my 1 poor test score. He cares pick him!!
this teacher is great and if you care about your grade so will he. he is very helpful!!! very COOOL! TEACHER!!
Good teacher. Very patient, which is essential when teaching Math. He missed several sessions though, but he did have a replacement. He's laid back and cool, and will take time to answer questions, but you HAVE to ask them, otherwise he'll just keep going and by the time you gain the courage to ask, you'll be way behind.
Very good instructor. Laid back style and entertaining presentation of a dry subject. Very responsive to questions, but as noted, you must be pro-active and ask. Numerous EC opportunities help a lot. Do the "homework" and speak up in class when you don't understand something and you'll do well.
Talk about Mr. Cool guy late almost every class, good teacher when he showed up!

greatest math teacher ever!! he really knows how to get you to understand the info...plus he is so laid back and easy going...he knows how to make the class interesting.
amazing
probably one of the best math teachers that i have had thus far at harper. really cool laid back guy knows what hes doing and explains everything very well and most importantly answers all questions very well. he makes the class fun and yeah he's a reallly awesome teacher lol thats about alls you need to know
He is a great teacher, very clear and he will always go back and help you out if you dont understand something. There is homework but never graded. Overall easy class.

he really knows how to teach
Makes the class very personable. Doesn't have you turn in homework and his tests are easy
Such a great professor. He taught our class the same lesson for a week straight until he was sure we understood. Very approachable, no homework, no attendence policy. Overall awesome. Take his class if you can.
I took Dan's class about 15 years ago. I had failed this class 2x before. He taught so clearly that I still remember just about everything. I had to take an intermediate Algebra class this year. I aced it without much effort due to the foundation that Mr. Loprieno built in me. Camp out for his classes. It is worth it.
its an easy class and i got a b and didnt do any homework
Took the online version of his class.... Pretty easy, however, if you dont like teaching yourself math.. i dont reccommend this online section...Although easy professor Loprieno was not very helpful regrading questions and ALWAYS late.. but if you are independent type student and can rely on yourself to teach yourself...youll do fine...
Very disorganized, late to class on a daily basis. Makes a lot of mistakes with examples and does not explain theory. Very hard to get an "A" in his class. Awesome guy though
Such a good teacher. I never understood math throughout highschool. One week into his class, i finally understood everything that was confusing me all that time. He's very helpful, and he has an amazing personality..plus hes pretty cute!
He is a fun teacher, he does show up late a lot which means you can too. Does not grade homework but doing does help because he uses problems from it on the tests. Take him, he explains everything pretty well.
Although attendance is not mandatory, it's good to go every class, because he gives out worksheets which count for part of your grade. I was never good in math, but he is great at explaining things and is very helpful. Not much homework, he collects homework when he feels the subject is hard. Overall, would definitely recommend him.
He was a great teacher! I had him 3 times at harper and he's always made math easy for me, and is always willing to help as long as you are willing to try! Very approachable! He's a great person overall!
A great teacher. He gives you every chance to succeed. Although his teaching style is different than what I prefer, I totally recommend him. He's a nice guy and 100% worth your time. I did do a lot of independent study and teach things to myself, but hey, that is what happens a lot in college.
You have to show up every class for the A. He doesn't give homework, but expects you to do the section review for your own benefit. You are basically on your own in his class. You need to work to get the grade you want. He knows its a new era, so he lets you use calculator unlike other proffs. Funny and laid back. Recommended if you want to learn.
HE IS A GREAT TEACHER!! 1) YOU HAVE HOMEWORK, BUT HE NEVER CHECKS IT, NOT ONCE!! IT'S KINDA CONSIDERED EXTRA PRACTICE IF YOU NEED IT. 2) DOESN'T CARE IF YOU MISS A DAY, BUT I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT BECAUSE HE GIVES A LOT OF INFORMATION!! LAST AND MOST INPORTANT, YOU LEAVE EARLY EVERYDAY, ONE HOUR....30 MINUTES!! I WOULD DEFIANTLY RECOMMEND HIM!!
Disorganized on the board with sometimes undiscernable handwriting. Writes all over the board that it's hard to follow. If you don't have a basic understanding of Algebra, I wouldn't recommend this professor, as he assumes we all remember most what we learned back in high school math classes. Not always clear in his explanations. Nice guy though.
Mr. Loprieno is a great teacher. He is there to help YOU understand math. Take this class, he is awesome!
Mr. Loprieno is very clear, precise, and extremely helpful. You just have to show up to class everyday to pass.
So what he is late, I never made to class on time anyway. He is always precise and clear. He would explain the problems until the entire class would understand. You would have to work hard to get something lower than an A. He makes the class fast-paced, yet interesting and resonable. Funny guy.. RECOMMENDED!
He was really nice. Always ready to help you. His test were extremely easy. Homework you only need to fill up a page of work and you get credit. TAKE THIS CLASS it's so worth your time!
TAKE HIM CUZ HE'S SEXY! YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS LADIES!
I have always struggled in math, but with Mr. Loprieno I have gained a very strong foundation in mathematics. Take his classes!! He is a extremely nice person and is very genuine with everything he says. He is there for his students!!
HE IS HOT!! and he explains problems really well if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask...he will be willing to answer any question for you.
Mr. Loprieno is an alright teacher. One of the better math teachers at harper
If you dont understand math to well, dont take him. Trust me. He is very fast paced and likes to do alot of the work in his head.
I took this class online, so I didn't get to know him that well. The class itself was pretty easy. The only thing I didn't like about him was failure to respond to my e-mails. I got an A (and I'm pretty sure I wasn't supposed to) so I can't complain!
he was always 20 minutes late to class. he never explained the material, most everyone failed the tests, terrible at getting the tests back. he makes you feel like an idiot if you don't under stand the material. this was the WORST class i have ever had. and i wish people graded him on teaching instead of looks
He was awesome! This was my second time taking the class, and he explained it sooooo much better than my other teacher! As long as you show up to the class and do the homework, I can't see how you don't get an A!
I took his online class. He was never helpful at all. Whenever I asked him a question, it would take him at least a week or more to get back to me. I ended up barerly passing this class. I suggest NOT to take math 101 online. He's probably a better teacher in the classroom!
He is the best math teacher so far. At the end of the day you are going to remember the fundamentals of mathematics. He is always willing to help students and not trying to be hard on students. Take him he is pretty cool=)
If you suck at Math especially precalc, Take him for any Math class hes the best math teacher at Harper by far, I dropped precalc with Geary, his tests were impossible.
Loprieno is awesome, easy to deal with and makes you a better student
I definately do not agree with a lot of people here. He is a great guy and makes the class enjoyable. When he gets bored of teaching he will sometimes replace variables with smiley faces lol. However, he skips a lot of steps in his notes and it gets really confusing. He is also late for class every day! He's not bad, but I do not recommend him.
He's not a bad teacher, but he's not the best teacher. I thought he was a really great person and stuff but I wish he would have better prepared the class for tests and the final. The departmental final was really really hard. My highest test score was a 85% and I'm not the best math student but not the worst. I was disappointed I didnt get an A
He's a cool guy. Cracks jokes alot. Math is not my strong point and he made it more interesting. If you ask him alot of questions he will answer them. I dont know any other math teacher that i would want to take instead of Loprieno.
He is my favorite math teacher of all time!!! He explains material very clearly, he is also very funny! take him you will not regret it :)
The nicest teacher I have ever had extreamly helpful and always answers your questions
He's really a super nice guy. He jokes around a ton but still teaches you things at the same time. If you make a mistake, he totally doesn't penalize you for it. He's so helpful, nice, and clear on his teaching! Take him for sure!!
He was one of the nicest teachers I'v ever had. He is always willing to work with you. On quizes he let us work in groups and sometimes use our notes. Everything is on mymathlab which makes doing h.w so easy. TAKE HIM!!
Highly recommend, explains material well. Overall very good teacher
He doesn't give extra credit and doesn't care to help pass you. He's nice but I wouldn't take him.
He is a very nice and helpful professor.
Funny and light-hearted, would recommend. He was more than willing to help you both in and outside of class when asked. Made the class more interesting with jokes spread here and there. Laid back during lectures. He provides "Suggested Homework Problems" that were not mandatory, but helped IMMENSELY in preparing you for the quizzes and tests.
Mr. Loprieno is an amazing teacher. He loves math and it shows. He will answer to your questions, go over homework, quizzes and test. The final exam is your study guide. He cares about his students. He was willing to help me before class almost everyday. at one point i wanted to give up but he was always there for me. this teacher really cares
He's a really nice guy. This was a late start class, and he kept it at a pretty steady pace until about two thirds of the way through, that's when he really sped up. He is willing to help when you ask questions, but can get a bit grumpy when you don't catch on. I recommend taking the homework seriously and asking lots of question.
He is solid. I struggle with math, but he is clear enough. However, he is not someone to take when you have a full work and school load. There is some impatience from him of his students' misinformed inquiries. I get the notion that he thinks some of us are stupid.
I'm sure he's a better teacher in person, but he is TERRIBLE with his online classes. He never updates my grades so i'm not even sure what i currently have in the class, he doesn't answer emails, and the final exam is due in days, yet theres no final exam review posted for the class. Terrible teacher, just doesn't seem like he cares.
He's a nice teacher, but for the first test we had, he didn't give a study guide. Then for the second test he gave us a study guide that only covered half of it and never posted the answers like he said he would. It's annoying when you do a study guide and want to see if you did it right, but there's no way to check. That affected my test grades.
He is a pretty good teacher. His lectures are clear and concise. There is a lot of homework, but it helps you in the end. Overall it is an easy class if you pay attention and do your homework.
Mr. Loprieno is awesome! Loves math, super helpful, and explains well! Most homework is online, easier that way, lots of in class work, but mostly you can use notes/partners. I was recommended him, and I am still recommending him. He's great!!!! Would definitely take him again! :)
Loprieno is such a good teacher he really cares about his students passing and succeeding in his class. a few times he would even extend the tests to give us extra time. He does show up late most of the time and even not at all but hes still the bomb. he helps during quizzes and tests and gives you a hw list but doesnt grade hw
He might be great in a class but not for an online class. If you struggle in math don't take this class on line- he doesn't offer much in the way of help, never posted formulas never checked in and the homework level is crushing. The reviews are ok but there's always things in the test that were never in the review. Min 20 hrs a week on homework!
He was a great math teacher. He made the class super easy and cared for his students who wanted to learn.
Laid back and is a great teacher! Always willing to help.
Best math teacher I've ever had!! Clearly loves his job and knows his stuff. Is generally late to class and late on updating gradebook. Definitely not technologically savvy. Very clear on grading criteria, excellent example problems. If you don't understand, just ask him in class and he will review it 5 different ways. Student success sets the pace
slStarted the semester with a different teacher and was forced to have him for the remainder (half the semester). I was not looking forward to it, but he was much better than i expected. Hes very open to questions and will make sure you understand the topic. Hes very accessible outside of class and can surely tell he cares about his students. Wta!!
Super nice guy. A real dad if you will. Very mild tempered and light hearted. His hw was all in my math lab so I never bought the textbook and did just fine. He also canceled class three times with a heads up at least the day before. Really nice guy and a really good teacher. If you want someone relaxed and personable take his class
Mr. Loprieno is a great professor. He's personable and easy to ask for help. He's very knowledgeable about the subject and makes good use of class time. All the homework is on MyMath Lab, so don't bother buying the book. His lectures are enough to help you grasp the material. I would definitely take him again.
Mr. Loprieno is the best professor I have ever had! He makes you work for your grade! He is always willing to help no matter what! Super accessible outside of class and SUPER INSPIRATIONAL! He is amazing! Take him! You will never regret!
It does seem like he cares about his students and just goes through the motions of teaching.
This was an online class but he doesn't respond to emails and you can't get much help without figuring it out for yourself because. would take in person instead.
Garbage honestly, not exct because the prof, but because you have to use these videos from the textbook to teach yourself, and the lady in the vids is awful at explaining, im not one to complain but this class was actual trash, just having people watch videos to "learn" does nothing not a bad guy, but he teaches the class horribly
I took an online Summer class, which was super easy with Pearson software. I love it, very easy homework and tests are with an open books.
Mr. Loprieno is nice but he doesn't really teach the class. We used a program called MyLab Math which doubled as the textbook and watched the videos for the units. I knew the program already but the class was hard. I would appreciate if we had more synchronous classes with him teaching. He dropped the lowest 3 homework grades at the end though.
What can I say about Dan Loprieno... Let me start off by saying I have NOT spoken ONCE to this man via live meeting to go over math problems because he NEVER bothers to check in! I do NOT consider him as my math professor due to the fact that I have done 95% of my learning on my math lab which gives too much homework. Do not take his class!
Math is not my strongest subject, and professor Loprieno was great at helping me when I got stuck. Responds to homework questions and will even meet up to go over stuff.
He is a decent professor to take. I took his virtual class and his instructions were very clear based on his syllabus. There were 5 exams (all open book) and the homework was completed through Pearson which was not free. Pretty much, you have to teach yourself the math and the class felt very boring probably due to it being virtual.
He was not as responsive with emails but was a good professor and very kind. Everything was clear and put up before the first week of school, lots of homework, a good amount of tests all MyMathLab.
Professor Loprieno can be very unresponsive, I found this very frustrating because going into the last days of MTH 140 I would email him questions about the online tests/final grade and 3-7 days later no response. If you are planning to take him don't expect quick responses, but other than that it's all on you if you're taking an online class.
Not very tech savvy and sometimes would take a while to hear back from him. However, he did me a huge favor to let me into his class for late registration. He is understanding and caring, and respects his students by not belittling them. Since online, I never formally met him, but his class is an easy pass if you just do the homework.
Ask questions regardless of how dumb it is. Lectures are good. gives lots of homework tho but its worth it. Tests are easy as long you do the homework since the test questions are picked from the homework & he only wants the basics so you shouldn't see complex/long problems on your tests.I later learned this so don't doubt this because of my grade
Professor Loprieno is an amazing professor. He cares about his students and wants all of his students to be successful. He makes a difficult subject seem not that difficult. The notes from class, the homework and lectures are similar to the tests- do those and you're good. Such a great class and great professor! Take him you won't regret it.
He's basically just super solid and dependable. He wants everyone to pass and if you are confused and go to him, he will answer and explain whatever problem you're having. If you don't, then he just assumes that you understand his course. Very transparent, he's basically all business although you can have a cool conversation with him too.
He does not email back at all if you ever would need help it would be difficult to get in contact with him because he don't email back
I passed.
He is a great professor and he's very understanding. The main downside is that he's really bad at responding to emails. If you need help, he will be willing to help you, but you may have to send him a few emails before he actually responds. Despite this I would take him again, I'd probably do in person instead of online though.
He was decent, just make sure to come to class everyday and follow along. He's nice, and he doesn't grade too hard on tests. Homework is online. He also drops your lowest test grade with the final. Also remember to pay attention and put in the work you should for a college level class.
All notes and lectures were on Blackboard. All homework, tests, and grades were on the website, Aleks. Didn't respond to emails, or would respond days later. Tests were timed, open-note, and mostly multiple-choice.
Good professor! His entire online class is on ALEKS and you just watch the lecture video and do the homework. Theres a test every 5-6 homeworks. Be prepared to do math...all the time. The whole semester is posted at once so you can work ahead if you would like. All the hw have unlimited attempts to get 100%. No makeups or redos once overdue.
Perfect for busy people, but not if you need frequent math help. Weekly:3-4 homework assignments. Monthly: 1 unit exam and a final. Exams aren't proctored, but you must submit written work at the end. Homework problems allow 99 retries if you get anything wrong, so you can easily score 10/10. Lowest 3 homework grades are dropped end of the semester.
I've always struggled with math and barely passed before. The way he teaches ensures you understand what you're learning about. Don't be afraid to ask him for help, he will sit there and help you even if it's a silly question. He's a caring man who got me to have a B+ average. Definitely would take again if asked in a heartbeat.
all the work is through a program called Aleks. He has video lectures but Ive noticed the videos dont quite correlate to the homework on aleks. Honestly would never take a class like this again he wasnt a bad teach just the class dynamic was off
Very nice guy and always was willing to help. He was however 5-10 minutes late every single day (50 minute class btw). Goes extremely fast lecturing and on the white board and if you have ADHD like I do it's probably going to be pretty rough I'll tell you that. BUT he did have office hours every single day and was very helpful if you went in to ask
The videos he posted didn't correspond to the homework very much at all I found myself using the internet to help teach me instead. Exams weren't proctored but you needed to turn in work after. He's kinda 50/50 on emails I really needed him to answer me before the final to which he didn't but answered me all the other times. There's a lot of hw
Professor Loprieno is solid and dependable. He wants students to succeed and will help explain concepts if you reach out. I found unstuck ai super helpful for prepping too. Take him if you can!
He was a pretty funny professor and cared about the students. Make sure to ask questions in class he is willing to help anyone. Only 6 tests 5 unit, 1 final. MAKE SURE TO STUDY FOR TESTS, HE DOES NOT GIVE EXTRA CHANCES FOR TESTS. A lot of homework and will make you work for an A.
Horrible professor, with no replies to emails, and is also not helpful at all. I get a response from another professor in a matter of hours, but here I am waiting days for a reply and having to cancel summer plans cause of it. Professors are paid to respond and help students. Why are we paying this man?
His lectures were not helpful because he just does the problem without explaining. I ended up having to use YouTube to learn instead. Aleks takes off points for rounding wrong or if u don't have the exact number it wants for tests. Does not reply to emails.
Taking this Prof in-person you might have a better experience. His on-line material is outdated and work is out of frame. I basically learned majority of lessons on YT and staying up late nights completing the work. You can tell he doesn't put effort into his online classes. if you can grasp material without a'lot of instruction, take it for credit
Very straightforward course if you are taking his online class. 2 Aleks homework assignments due every week, not a lot of questions each. There are 4 in person tests but the study guides he gives for each are exactly like the real test.
