I really enjoyed professor McNeil's lectures. I don't believe these reviews that label him as "hard" to do him justice as he does give you a study guide that covers all of the information you will be tested on, which is more than most professors do at Hancock. From day one, it's clear that this professor holds students to a high standard—not to be harsh, but because he genuinely wants every student to succeed. If you want an easy A, this isn't the class for you. But if you want to learn—to actually understand and apply what you're studying—this professor is unmatched.

He didn't give out much homework and I didn't read the textbook at all. I relied on lectures and doing "cheat sheets" for exams. He does notice your attendance and you can tell he's passionate about this subject so prepare yourself. A good teacher but does grade hard so beware. Def would've preferred to take this online.

Do not take! Five 16-25 multiple-choice and essay test questions, and he expects you to cite from the textbook and required articles, all within a short time window. There are multiple essay assignments, and he will accuse you of using AI if you follow the guidelines, do good work, and use proper grammar.

Professor McNeil is an amazing professor that genuinely wants to teach his students. Every lecture was informative and engaging, and he has clear expectations set for the class. This class is almost impossible to fail, but you will need to put in effort to get an A. He gives students everything they need to succeed. I highly recommend this class.

He has been the best online professor I have had throughout my winter semester, he is very active through the online courses. Expect a lot of emails and check ins, though his assignments may seem difficult, if you answer thoughtfully and use the articles he's given you, you will be graded fairly, giving constructive feedback.

The clear outline of assignments and free online textbook is great---very informative and clean-cut; however, I felt that assignment rubrics were quite hard to understand due the lack of concrete grading standards and hardly any feedback was provided when I lost points. But even then, communicating with the professor was quick and resolved issues.

McNeill does the most, especially in regards to group projects and exams. Groups projects in this class are a dread, has you take many steps for a simple grade on a presentation. A textbook is used, but he provides it online. Often makes attendance count as pop quizzes so show up. As long as you read the material, the scantron exams are passable.

Dan can be funny and serious when he has to. This class was quite simple and straightforward. All tests were based mainly on class lectures and were multiple choice. He is very understanding and engages well with his students. The group project was the only tedious part of this class but he did give us ample time to complete it. Great intro class.

Although his group presentation has some questionable requirements, this was a very thoughtful class that is crucial to my major. Exams were easy if you did read said material but in my personal opinion the textbook was fun to read. The only slight grudge would be his group project. The class was fun in general as it was very social.
