Great teacher, one of my favorite math teachers at the school. Good sense of humor and very thorough

This is not an easy class, but he teaches itvery well. Homework is required, and its about 1-2 hours a night, but he assigns it for a reason. Tests aren't difficult if you study and use his practice exams. Funny & helpful teacher, highly recommended!!

Great teacher. A few tips for possible students: He will make an example out of you if; you come late (even in 1st few weeks), have phone on (even vibrating), do anything other than pay attention. Tests are hard but if you do homework and prepare with his tests that are on reserve in library, you will be prepared. He also allows a page of notes.

The best math instructor I've had at the JC hands down. He makes the material easy and, somehow, fun. He has some minor pet peeves about people being late and cell phones, but those things bug me too, so I didn't care! Dan is a good teacher. Class is hard, but as long as you do the h.w and study for the test you'll do ok. There are other statistics teachers that are much easier, but i think that munton's class is better because your knowledge does increase. good teacher! I got an A. to do that study, do h.w, and get smart group for the group project.

Dan The Man. This guy's good. Never in my life have I came across such a great Math Teacher. I love when he tells little corny jokes because no one laughs, it's great. He really over emphasizes everything to perfection, it's truly amazing. His classes fill up fast so register w/ him early!

He's a challenging teacher, to say the least. If anyone could write "Advanced Theoretical Mathematics For Dummies," it'd be Mr. Munton. He is BY FAR the best teacher I've ever had. Great teacher! Tests are a bit difficult, so you really need to know the subject matter. I didn't read the chapter text and used my notes the whole time. His lectures are awesome. Clearly writes and communicates and he is funny! I would take again!

I have taken him many times for diff math classes, and strongly recommend. Not an easy teacher. He is always well prepared and expects the same from you. Hardest tests, but best lectures! Don't miss class and do all h.w. PreCalc was easy with him, 1st year of Calc wasn't, but is it ever? very limited office hours, but quality help when available!

He is an excellent teacher. I am a student who learns most things through teaching not reading. When he teaches I completely grasp his explanation and he does a great job of keeping my attention.

Dan was probably the most amazing math professor I have ever had! I have to take tons of math (which I hate) for my major, and he makes it fun and interesting. You do have to attend class and do the homework, so if you're looking for a free ride, this isn't it. But if you want to really GET IT, he's your man.

Professor Munton is by far one of the best instructors I have ever had. He has a passion for math that rubs off on his students. He doesn't make the material easy but he tries his hardest to make everyone understand the subject. Highly recommended if you want to learn and be challenged while having a good time as well.

I graduated from SRJC in May 2006, and I still have fond memories of Mr. Munton's 7AM statistics class. LOVED it. One of the best professors I've had. He made potentially confusing concepts seem simple, and managed to make a two hour, early morning math class fun, engaging, and enjoyable. He was very helpful during office hours. A great teacher.

Dan have office hours for you to come and ask any question about the lecture, tests, projects. Also, he replies your email back as soon as he gets the email. He is a handsome, nice and funniest Math teacher.

He is really funny and you will enjoy his creative class.His tests are easy and really close to sample tests.He is willing to answer your questions as soon as possible.He can keep you awake for four hours every week by his impressive teaching.

He is such a jolly and nice teacher, has a sense of humor, and helpful advice. You have to work hard on your HW even though it's 10% of your grade, but he still gives a lot of chances for extra credit. He sometimes wears hawaiian T-shirt, which really describes his character. You are also allowed to bring a cheat sheet for the exam. Think about it!

TAKE HIS CLASS - very good teacher. Lots of energy even at 7am. Very easy to talk to and helpful. Wants you to understand and succeed. Two projects, homework each class, old tests available for review, allows one page notes for tests.

What I like about Dan Munton: Absolutely crystal clear in his teaching style. Always tremendously prepared for every class. Recognizes that HW is a useful study tool so makes sure it is returned before tests (or he doesn't collect it until after). Fast pace, but will go over anything unclear to anyone. Exc. pract. Exams. Clearly explains what will be on his tests. He will even outline exactly what he wants on the board. He willingly spend lots of classtime going over any and every question you have about the homework. 2nd best math teacher I've ever had, and I've had many.

Professor Munton is extremely helpful, but extremely hard. His tests are extremely difficult and long, but if you keep up with the homework, attend class regularly, and ask questions you'll probably do good. Advise: Prepare, Prepare, Study, Study, for tests! This is the most difficult part of the class...good thing is he is extremely helpful.

VERY HELPFUL. JUST DO THE WORK AND ASK FOR HELP IF YOU NEED IT AND YOU WILL PASS. ON HIS TEST DO ALL THE STEPS EVEN IF IT IS WRONG HE WILL GIVE YOU CREDIT.

Dan Munton has an amazing ability to explain the abstract concepts of calculus very, very well. I found that he can be very picky on grading tests and stupid mistakes may cost you a lot of points on a problem. But this is math 2A and it's time to stop making such mistakes. Overall he is one of the best teachers I have ever had.

Continued from below... One other thing about Mr. Munton is that even though his jokes in class are "lame" as one reviewer mentioned, I found myself laughing every time he made one. For example, "rhymes with shmartial shmerivative" was hilarious every time he said that.

I had a terrible teacher last semester for math 155 (Rebecca Fouquette do not take her she is awful) and dreaded having to redo the class this semester. I needn't have worried! This class is difficult no matter what. Be prepared to work really really hard. Mr. Munton will help you at any time and he is respectful, very fair and will give extra point to the class as a whole. This was the most difficult math class I took after calculus.

I took him for 1C and came back for 2. He's really in love with his subjects and one of the best math teachers on campus. Math 1C and 2 aren't interesting subjects but he tries his hardest to make it fun and is very helpful at office hours.

Dan is a good teacher, although I didn't enjoy the class very much. He is very energetic and likes to engage the class. This is useful for an early morning class. Exams are HARD, and he is a nit picky grader.

Munton is surely a quirky guy. He makes you laugh nearly every class, and it is refreshing to find a teacher who is passionate about what he does. With that being said, do not take this class for an easy "A," because you won't get it. It is easy to fall behind, and the tests are difficult. His tests are very difficult, but he curves them. His first test is ESPECIALLY difficult, but he is jus trying to weed out the un-dedicated students. Stick it out.

Well, I am not gonna get a great grade but that's my fault--not his. He really is a great math teacher(the best at the JC); his lectures are so interesting, and he's funny to boot--he had students laughing each class. Munton has been the best teacher I have had at the jc. He made MATH 1B an easier class compared to taking MATH 1A with John Martin. He is super witty and has cheesy jokes. I have taken three math classes with Munton: 27, 1B and 1C, all with online homework that dramatically helped me. TAKE HIM! you wont regret it.

The only thing I was looking forward to at the beginning of the semester was finishing the last math class i will ever have to take. But I was surprised to find i actually looked forward to his class. Not like a regular boring math class, there was lots of interesting things that he taught us , like how different cultures used math.

He is funny, and keeps class lectures on track. Home is online, which is actually really helpful. He loves it if you read the section beforehand, and will always help clarify in classoffice if you have any questions. Come to class! This is tricky material. Tests are straightforward: based off of examples, homeworks, old tests. Final is tough!

Dan made a hard subject easier. He is comical and fun and not what you would expect from a math genius. Homework online and in class most nights, But the homework helps prepare you for the exams. Dan is an awesome math teacher! I had him for 1C and it was great. He really presents the material and goes over things if students don't understand. His exams are a bit tough but very manageable. He really want you to know the concepts. His hw is online with some written work. He does not do quizzes. Answers any questions you have. Great jokes!

Dan Munton is hands down the best math instructor I've ever had. He reviews while approaching new material, tests you on new material-not old, allows notes on tests, always willing to answer questions, does problems in detail so that you really know how to do it. I wish I could have taken him for Calc1 and 2, then I would be doing so much better.

Dan was great! I had to repeat the class and couldn't get a class with him but he was a really great teacher. He was very enthusiastic every class, explained things well and I love his examples and made up stories with word problems. Homework was in class and online but not too bad. Tests weren't too hard and made the subject easier to learn. :)

A very respectable and great teacher. Always more than willing to help in any situation, and provides a ton of examples and good lecture notes. He can get a little annoying if you're someone that's always late, but besides that, I would 100 percent recommend him for any class. He provides study guides for exams, and final, allows notes. Mr. Munton was my last math teacher. I had him for 150B and it was a breeze. On the other hand math 15 was very difficult for me. But Mr. Munton did not give up on me and helped me so much. He's very funny but don't be late to class or he will jokingly call you out.

Munton is all around the coolest teacher I've had in my college career. He's hilarious and genuinely loves the material he teaches. I've never enjoyed math (or received good grades in math) before this class. If you keep up with your homework, come to class every day, and ask for help when you need it, you'll pass with flying colors.

Dan's an incredibly sweet person who reflects a passion for the subject and cares for his students inside the class and out, however, he really makes you work for the grade and understand concepts thoroughly. There's weekly homework both online and in textbook, and tests are often fill in the blank/essay oriented. Great class, but seek out support.

I was dreading taking Math as it had been over 2 years that I took a math class but Professor Munton made this class enjoyable. Its a tough subject but he was accesible and would even hold late office hours the week of any tests. You have to put in the work, do all the HW, do the practice tests and go to class and office hours.

This man printed out all the lecture pages in packets to fill out, lots of info is provided with minimal writing, super easy and consistent way to study. A whole page of notes per exam and four pages for the final. This stats class is a breeze, especially if you're no stranger to STEM classes. He does use a $100 online textbook tho.

Professor Munton goes out of his way for his students. He has printed lecture notes all ready for you. A whole page of notes for tests and 4 pages of notes for the final. He also goes to you when he sees you suffering and allows you to re-do assignments for a better grade. Truthfully one of the best Math professors out there. He's amazing for math!
