big lecture, not too easy to follow, however he does curve massively. also dropped lowest exam nice guy willing to help you.
maybe trying to prove he needs a teaching assistant? Very difficult homework and tests. Gives plenty of chances but not for those weak in math.

Interesting lecture. Gives good overview of field without too much math. Ask him questions: it's worth it. Gives most interesting responses around. Easy to get on tangents.
Reichart is a nice guy, and really seems to know his stuff, but he's hard to follow. Unless astronomy is your thing, I would recommend it.
Good lecturer, but he does go pretty fast. He knows his stuff. It would be a good idea to brush up on your math before you take the class, though.
He's a great teacher, and very funny ^_^
Homeworks are kinda hard but his class is really enjoyable. He'll do anything he can to make sure you understand something, and his tests aren't bad at all, despite what some people say.
Turned this class into hardcore physics. DO not take him unless you love physics!
Dan is the man. I'm not all that interested in astronomy, but it's just an intro course, so no big deal. More importantly, Dr. Reichart is hilarious, easy going, and teaches a relatively entertaining class.
Professor Reichart makes this class extremely interesting. He is very enthusiastic about his teaching and has a great sense of humor. Take Astro 101 even if your not that interested... he will make it interesting
Reichart is here to research, not to teach. He does not devote the time and effort that the class deserves. His notes are sloppy and incoherent. He does not specify where you need to be in the book...not even for the final. You will be forced to play "catch-up" on your own. However, he does answer all questions during class, and he is a nice guy.
This class turned out to be pretty difficult. I took it as an elective and regret it. The professor was really nice and really knew what he was talking about, but couldn't teach it very well. There was a lot more math involved than I thought. His tests were pretty hard, but the good news is that his grading curve is great!
The class ended up being more difficult than I thought it would be.His notes were unorganized and difficult to follow. You had to study and read a lot just to keep up.He is really nice and answered questions well but not a great teacher; seems to be more focused on his research.
Dan was a great professor - I enjoyed attending his lectures. The first month or so was a lot of physics, but after that the material became much more interesting. He wants his students to understand the material, so he doesn't speed through lectures. I would recommend staying after class to get extra help on the webassigns, and take good notes.
Dr. Reichart is very clear in his lectures and very clear about what you should learn. if you are a science student, this class should be a piece of cake. the most math involved problems only involve elementary trig knowledge. Reichart is very helpful outside of class. this class/prof are highly recomended.
Very easy class, if you are good in math and phys. He is clear and tests are easy. online quizzes, which are easy mostly. but he is full of himself. I is the word that he uses the most. and to be fair, he is a knowledgeable guy. He makes you to register to webassign, which is not free. BAD. He could do the same thing at BB. Easy class. Take it.
Dr. Reichart is a great professor! The class is easy, and the math involved isn't very hard at all. He's very helpful and truly wants his students to understand. He is very amusing and a fun professor. I definitely recommend this class!
Reichart is the man! Makes funny jokes on a regular basis, really loves what he teaches, and teaches it well. The class is really easy too.
You know that professor you see on movies that somehow inspires a student, like in Dead Poet's Society? Yeah, this is Dr. Reichart. He is so passionate about the subject that he makes anyone able to understand it. He will literally walk up the lecture hall's aisle in order to answer a question if you have one. SUCH a good course to fulfill science.
best teacher I have had at UNC. extremely helpful and a really nice guy. also hes funny and gives really interesting lectures. make sure you take his class even if you're not particularly interested in astro
He's hilarious and his lectures are a lot of fun - but sometimes on homework, he asked about small details and a lot of it seemed like trick questions. You need to go to his office hours, and once or twice I noticed he hadn't covered some homework material at all. He's quite the expert on his subject though - and he allows note use during exams.
He was very enthusiastic about the material. However, he wasn't very responsive to emails. The questions on the homework from the textbook were very tricky--almost like he was trying to trip us up. You must do the readings. Overall, if you're not a science person, I would recommend him. I enjoyed this class and got a lot out of it.
The best professor I've ever had. Super easy and fun class. He's so excited to teach it, and he wants to make sure everyone understands what he's teaching. If you get the chance, definitely apply for ERIRA, his summer program. I had so much fun and I learned more than I thought I could in one week.
Interesting professor. Will be fun during lecture, but seemingly hates students. Will make you think you have one grade throughout the entire year, then curve the already curved grade and lower it dramatically.
Very helpful. My scantron was off for one of my exams and he was very helpful in trying to figure out what went wrong. Enthusiastic about what he does and a very fun class to take. He allows cheatsheets on the tests, but there are some trick questions.
He's awesome. Take the class just to have him. Lecture Notes aren't great, but tests come straight from the online notes and hw, so use that, and take advantage of his cheat sheet rules on each test
He may be interesting, but he is the most uncaccessible professor! He does not relally like to give A's to his students. He only loves to hear himself. Never avaible during office hours, by the time he responds, you already figured it out, and that could be 2 days. His lab instructor though, Dr Couze is terrific. By the way, got a B.
We <3 Reichart!!!!
Professor Reichart is great! He gives interesting, engaging lectures. All homework is online and all the tests are multiple choice. He is not very personable however.
Boring lectures, trick questions on tests and webassign homeworks. only good thing is that you get to have a cheat sheet for exams. Dont take this if you don't have to. He also grades on a weird curve that could hurt you more than help you. Sometimes a 97 on the homeworks is a B. He also doesn't do his own office hours.
If you are interested at all in astronomy or need a GPA padding course, take Astro 101 with Professor Reichart! He is extremely funny during lectures (albeit nerdy funny) and the homework is easy and not time-consuming. The tests aren't extremely difficult and you get a cheat sheet. He drops your lowest test grade and 2 lowest homework grades!!
Reichart is a good prof and his lectures were interesting. However, he was not very organized and his notes in class were terrible. The class is graded on a curve, so it only depends how well you do against others. Not a very hard class at all, and easy to get an A or B. Take him if you're interested in astro.
Lectures are entertaining, and if you don't want to go he will post them online. If you go to office hours he will all but give you the answers on the homework. He is very very helpful! The only negative things is that he uses web assign, which costs an extra $60, but he will let you use older versions of the text book.
This was a fantastic course, and I absolutely enjoyed Reichart as my professor!! He's funny, clear in his lectures, and he makes the topics interesting! Take this if you need a science requirement, you'll love it!
Reichart he's hard and there's a lot of studying by yourself...
If you are at UNC and looking to take care of your science requirement, this is probably the best science class to take. The professor lets you bring in "cheat sheets" with formulas and information for the multiple choice tests, which are very helpful. Beware - he likes to test on facts/trivia that he mentions once in class and never again.
Reichart is adorable and funny. He is very knowledgable about the subject, and you can see that in his excitement for the course. Class is insanely easy and very interesting. He drops your lowest test and homework, and if you do an extra credit paper you get a second homework dropped - plus you can bring notes to exams. Math is minimal and easy
The class sounds like it would be easy, but the cheat sheets barely help because he asks trick questions. Using the textbook to do the homework will get you a zero, he seems to appreciate only his own ideas. When asking him for help he replies with one sentence or nothing at all, and if you go to office hours you better come prepared
Reichart is a great guy who is very passionate. The class itself is not hard. Just do the homework and make cheat sheets (he allows one per test) for the tests and you will be just fine.
I went to the lectures and used an allowed "cheat sheet" full of lecture notes and I only passed 1 test. Everything is graded on a curve which sounds great right? Except in any other science course a 70 is a C. In this class a 70 was an F. You had to make in the 80's to get a C. Tests were not on lecture material. They were mostly physics problems
Dr. Reichart is an extremely qualified, funny, and kind professor. His lectures are usually very interesting and (except for the telescope selection unit) the material covered is fascinating and will help you better understand the world around you. I took this course purely because it sounded interesting, and would definitely recommend it.
Took his Astro 101 class. Gives very clear and informative lectures, but gives tests often on specific trivia that was never covered in class.
Reichart is a prof that knows the material backwards and forwards. He's a great guy and hilarious. All of the lectures are found online. The tests are copy and paste from the webassign, just use the webassign answer key and you're good to go. It's a very easy class, he drops lowest test and 2 HW grades. Would recommend for nonscience majors.
This class was supposed to be an easy A, but when he told us top 25% of the class make an A I got really upset. I made a C+ in this class because a lot of students cheated on the final and pushed my grade back. Worst grading scale ever, especially when I worked my butt off for this class. Do NOT recommend for fulfilling a gen-ed.
Reichart was fantastic. There was very little homework and the material is super interesting. He's hilarious and I enjoyed his lectures. The class was an easy A but he does throw trick questions on exams. This class does involve math and physics but if you're fairly good at science then you'll be fine.
Dr. Reichart is one of the best professors I've had at UNC. He gives clear, structured lectures, with enough homework to help you cement knowledge but not to overload you. He's very passionate about what he teaches and he knows his stuff. Only draw back is that he grades on a Bell curve. Otherwise, fantastic professor and awesome class.
Dan Reichart is the man. He's super into astronomy so his lectures are really cool. The first few are boring because they are about the sun, but once it gets into black holes and relativity his lectures are pretty mind bending. Homework doesn't take long and is only once a week. The class is curved so that only a certain number of people get A's
Let me just say, Dan goes hard in the paint. He is a hilarious teacher and engages with the class really well even though it is a massive lecture hall. As long as you do the homework and show up to class you will do fine on the exam. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.
Professor Reichart is a great teacher. He is a great lecturer and his tests are fair. I enjoy his lectures, as he always uses props and is quite funny. In order to do well, I had to read the textbook and take notes in class. The only grades you get are homeworks, which are easy, and 3 exams and he drops your worst hw and exam performance.
This man is an absolute legend. He tried to put out a fire with his own feet and got injured for it. Talk about someone committed to the school...I haven't taken any of his classes but definitely I intend on doing so now.
Reichart is my dude. He is the sweetest man you will ever meet and his lectures just make me happy. I love how passionate he is about astronomy, it makes the whole class so much more entertaining. He truly wants you to understand, and do well. 10/10, highly recommend, I wish I was good at/liked science so I could take a class with him again.
He really knows his stuff and makes it interesting and is very relatable and positive. However, his grading scale is very competitive and he definitely has an ego (always referencing his own research.) Unfortunately, he got badly injured this semester and couldn't finish the year... the replacements haven't been nearly as good as Prof. Reichart
Professor Reichart is legend in and out of the classroom. He knows a ton about astronomy and presents it in a way that is cool and pretty easy to understand. He is funny and reasonable about the work load. The man tried to stop an incident on campus and was injured. He is a a great human and professor.
Bro, Reichart is my boy! Never went to class, still got a C+.
Reichart is the man. Good lecturer, makes himself available, and just a really nice guy. Tests had some trick questions but go to class and pay attention and you should be able to ride the curve up. Top 25% of the class get A's, but I had an A- all semester and will probably end with a B+. Make a good cheat sheet for the exams and you're good.
Dr. Reichart is an amazing professor who is really passionate about teaching and astronomy, his passion definitely shows through in his lectures. Overall the class was fairly easy, you get cheat sheets on exams and the only homework was weekly WebAssign assignments.
Dr Reichart is in two words "The Man". He is very passionate about astronomy, presents topics in a clear manner, and is hilarious. The math going along with the course is very straightforward. When he had to stop teaching about 2/3 through the semester, there was a clear change in dynamic in the class. In short, Reichart is a game-changer.
Dan is the man. He is so passionate about the subject, BUTTTTT ASTRONOMY IS SUPER HARD! I took this class thinking it would be an easy A science class (non-STEM major here) and it was literally so hard. The class is graded on a bell curve so basically, you're screwed unless you are really good at astronomy. The lab was easy. Take dan though.
I'm going to go against the mold and say Reichart is overall okay. His passion for astronomy is clear and lectures are very interesting, but the test questions are often about obscure miscellanies rather than core concepts of astronomy (e.g. name this specific telescope). Grades are relative to other students, which is annoying.
I personally thought his class was a bit difficult because I do not have a strong physics background which is a large portion of this course. His class is graded on a scale, required by the university, so unless you really study, it is difficult to get an A because you are compared to your classmates. He is knowledgeable and funny if you like astro
Dan is so cool, but astronomy is so hard. you need physics background. do not take this class if you think its an easy science to fill a gen ed. its not. I studied for seven hours and still failed the first test. im transferring schools now. ps you don't learn constellations and dan doesn't like horoscopes.
Don't do it. No one passes, you are expected to have a large background in astronomy when most people just take the class to get gen ed's out of the way and they fail.
Almost made me change me major to Astronomy and I'm not even that smart in science like that. Exams can be tough and somewhat random, but you can get 100s on all the HWs. Funny and well-respected in his field, tells cool stories about meeting Tom Hanks and those type of things. Also risked his life to save a tree on campus. An absolute legend.
Dan the MAN. This guy is just a beast in his field and really knows and cares what he is talking about. He is funny during lectures and sure knows how to keep everyone awake. However, the exams are random material and quite difficult, be prepared to study for a whole minute. But overall, this dude was awesome and with little homework, I'd recommend
Dan is the best. He makes the subject funny and entertaining. Homework is totally manageable and he drops your lowest midterm! You can take a cheatsheet for exams which makes it easier as well, although they can be a little bit tricky. I only took it for gen-ed and considered doing 102 just because of him. Would definitely take again.
Dan is a great professor! He is knowledgeable and explains concepts well. He understands that most people take ASTRO 101 for the gen ed so he drops the lowest midterm and homework. I took this for an easy science gen ed and didn't expect it to be as math based as it was. It was definitely more challenging than I thought but not impossible.
Dan is fun, but personally, I think he is a terrible professor if you are not interested in the subject. I was always confused in class and WARNING: THE TESTS ARE NOTHING LIKE THE NOTES. I have had 2 tests in here so far and I have NO IDEA where the material is from. DO. NOT. TAKE. Also, it is all physics so if you like that take it.
Dan is very funny and charismatic in his lectures, but the grading system for the class is brutal. Your grade is calculated by how well everyone else does on the tests, which means that unless you're very good at astronomy, it is very hard to do well. The tests are mostly physics questions, and the class uses quite a bit of math overall.
Dan is an awesome professor and is renowned in his field. Most of his homework (1 per week) is easy and he extends it if the lectures are running behind. He gives you a cheat sheet for every exam. However some of the questions on the exam are so specific its unfair. Make sure you take good notes and write down the homework on the cheat sheet.
The material is challenging, and so are the homework assignments and exams. But the way he weighs scores is very fair -- drops the lowest homework and the lowest test. Also always available to reach out to if you have questions about anything. If you put in the work and follow the syllabus closely, you'll be fine.
Dan is really nice and funny in lecture, but you have to pay attention to what he's saying to know the material on the tests-otherwise, read the textbook. The lectures were also sometimes boring/would get off topic. Weekly HW assignments that are very easy and 2 exams plus the final- drops lowest test and HW grade. Class is graded based on a curve
Dan is such a great professor, and super passionate about astronomy, as most people will say. However! If you are not science or math minded, this class is very hard! I thought it would be an easy A but I ended up having to pass fail. The class is built for people who have experience with physics or astronomy, so get ready to work if you dont.
I think I went to class 3 times the entire semester and ended with an A-. All you have to do is read the chapters in the book that he tells you to read and to learn how to do the Math from the HW. Don't feel bad if you get a low grade on an exam because one is replaced with your Final.
This class was supposed to be an easy A and it wasnt. The lectures were genuinely the most boring thing Ive experienced. He lets you have cheat sheets on the exams and finals but they only help so much because he puts so many random and super specific questions on there. It was a super frustrating and super annoying class and professor
I love Dr. Reichart! I took his class without any previous knowledge of Astronomy and learned a ton. You either have to pay close attention in lectures or read the textbook, but not necessarily both. He gives a lot of opportunities to make a good grade (3 tries on every hw question, drops lowest exam and hw). I've heard the lab is very difficult.
Dr. Reichart was genuinely my favorite professor this semester. Hes brilliant, has great lectures, allows cheat sheets, and drops an exam grade. Some of the exam questions can be super specific and the class is graded on a bell curve, but other than that his class is a must.
Fantastic professor, one of my favorites here. Clever, passionate about astronomy, and very clear about class expectations. The homework is not too difficult, but you definitely need to prepare for the midterms and final.
Prof Reichart is an awesome professor. He's nice, understanding, and clearly is very passionate about the subject and everything he teaches. However, this is NOT an easy A. This is the hardest class I've taken so far. Very physics and math-based, with lots of information, and the tests aren't too related to all of the lectures.
The class is problematic being graded on a curve. Everyone receives 100s on the homework assignments, so your ENTIRE grade is based on the three tests in the class. Unfortunately, Reichart includes extremely specific things quite often, which are only ever featured as side topics during lectures. Not a fun class.
Professor Reichart was my favorite. Hes a super smart guy that is also an amazing teacher. The only downside of the class is that its graded on a curve, but youre allowed a cheat sheet on the exams and he drops the lowest one. If you go to class and pay attention and study before exams you shouldnt have to worry though. Very funny guy.
Listen. I don't ever roast professors on here but this mans is a danger to society. He is the nicest person, but he cannot teach at all. Not to mention the class is graded on a bell curve, screwing over many hardworking students such as myself. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FOR THE CREDIT. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.
Good luck getting a good grade in this class. Wish I had followed my gut feeling and dropped it. His lectures dont make any sense and none of the people in your class will help you because its competitively graded. What an L Also took it with the lab which made it so much worse.
don't bother coming to class, the questions on the tests aren't even covered during lecture. i swear, if i had not attended a single lecture (i attended nearly all of them) and instead just read the textbook, i would have gotten a much higher grade.
Dr. Riechart is a very sweet and passionate guy but this class is just not worth all the hassle. His teaching style and his lectures are all over the place and his tests ask super specific things that you barely ever cover. The class is graded on a curve so your grade depends on how everybody else does, which makes it hard to do well. Don't do it!!
The material covered on the exams is often inconsistent with what he teacher in class with respect to non-computational problems. He intentionally designs the exams to be extraordinarily difficult to where students seldom get As. He said in class Anything in the textbook is fair game for the exams and that should have been my red flag. DONT take
So, hes not a bad teacher and this class is not that boring or anything. But the grading scale is just so dumb. Its a bell curve and you only have two tests and a final. The tests are so oddly specific If you didnt put it on ur cheat sheet you will not know it. The class is weirdly competitive and just stressful. Im glad to be done.
I love astronomy, but this class was super difficult for me. Dr. Reichart is an amazing professor and person, he really makes the big lecture hall seem interactive, but the exams were EXTREMELY difficult. Very specific fun facts found only in the textbook even though it wasn't used for homework. You gotta love astronomy to take this class.
Professor Reichart is great. Homework is easy (all the answers on Quizlets). As you probably already have read, however, the tests are really weird. This is not an easy A by any stretch of the imagination; you really need to study yourself. I came out with an A only when I started dedicating hours of textbook studying before the exams.
Do not take this class for an easy A. His classes may seem easy and you might understand the material completely, but his exams do not test your knowledge. They instead test random facts he spent 10 seconds on in lecture. Not an effective way to test in my opinion. Course grade relies heavily on your tests.
Reichart is a legend but his tests are super random and even if your study for them you'll get a pretty bad grade. But, it actually doesn't matter because it's on a curve, so i got basically straight 65s and ended up with a B. He also drops the lowest HW and exam. it's really not that bad and his lectures are really interesting
I recommend taking this class if you want some "happy astronomy time" (his own words). He is super experienced in the field and passionate about the contents. Hw is the minimum of all my classes and you only need some intense review before exams. Grades are curved. Lectures can be a bit disorganized and exam questions are very specific. Take notes.
This man is one of the best professors I have ever had in terms of lecture. The class is also pretty easy if you do the homeworks. However, you are graded on a curve so you better hope you are not in a small class section.
Really sweet guy. This class was fairly difficult for me so and Dr. Reichart definitely makes you work for it, but all in all, he explains concepts very well and I would love to take a class with him again.
Really enjoyable and entertaining lectures! You do have to work hard to do well in this class, but most of it is just showing up to class, taking notes, doing the readings, and studying for exams. The exam questions are specific, but they are not impossible to answer.
I love this man with every fiber of my being. An amazing professor! He loves teaching and is so helpful. If you read and put in the effort, youll get an A.
COVID edition: Made it clear from the start grade was a competitive curve, lectures are uploaded to youtube for reference, uses webassign for assignments (better than Sakai imo, provides grade progress spreadsheets after each exam so you know where you stand, class material is 50% hard math, 50% scientific theory so you need to apply yourself.
ASTR 101L with Reichart is definitely manageable, but the curve he grades the course on is absolutely horrendous. To get an A you basically need a perfect score on all assignments, and I'm talking 98+. The supplementary lecture videos were helpful, but make sure you get a friendly TA. They're the ones that grade labs and answer your questions.
ABSOLUTELY BEST PROF EVER. Not even kidding. I took this class on a whim and loved it. Webassign homework (better than sakai), 24 hours and open book for exams, entertaining classes which are uploaded to youtube but I recommend going cuz it's awesome anyway. If you had to pick going to class or reading the textbook, I'd say classes. LEGEND.
Professor Reichart provided recordings of each zoom class, allowing everyone to watch or re-watch the lectures at their own pace. His lectures were extremely interesting and easy to pay attention to. He included some jokes and he has an awesome personality! Would for sure recommend to everyone!
Dr. Reichart is very passionate/knowledgeable about Astronomy. Great lecturer. WARNIING. His grading is based on percentages relative to other students. Top 25% A, next 35% B, next 25% C, next 10% D, final 5 % F.
Just finished the class & I ended up with an A, but I cannot tell you a single thing that we were supposed to learn. A friend took the class this semester as well & had the same experience. Very easy to get an A, but if youre wanting to really learn something, I wouldnt recommend.
Dr. Reichart is very knowledgeable on astronomy and physics and he has a lot of interesting things to share in his lectures. For online school, he let you watch lectures on you own time if preferred and the tests were open note (unlike in person tests). To succeed in this class online, the most important thing is to take your time on tests.
Dan is great! The class just wasn't for me
I never met him but he made all the work and designed the ASTR101L. He is famous and manages big telescopes and the youtube videos he filmed during covid are what got us through the labs. Not hard but also just clicking and copying and pasting on WebAssign following the tutorials so you don't learn anything. No tests. Hope he keeps improving.
No words are needed to express how bad he is. He uses standard deviation to grade, so even with a +95, you can get a B.
This rating is for ASTR 111, ERIRA. This was my favorite experience at UNC thus far. I learned so much from Dr. Reichart. Also, basically, everyone who takes this course receives an A. Great guy.
This review is for ASTR 111, Dr. Reichart's program called ERIRA, but he in general is just such a fantastic guy and lecturer I'd recommend him for any class at UNC. He is smart, funny, caring, and understanding, pushing his students while recognizing when they need help.
I took both the 101 course and lab online and they were both ok. There was a lot of work every week and the grading system was very frustrating. Reichart is a really cool guy though. He was patient, responded quickly, and was very understanding.
His lecturers were either super boring or super interesting but never in between. The exams felt extremely hard for an introductory course.
This class is entirely group based so make sure to form a good group. Professor Reichart's lectures explain the topic in depth but most of the class is graded by making blogs that are performed as a group. The TA's are very helpful and accessible. Overall, a great class.
A great and interesting class; however, the professor was never present. TA graded everything. I was very lucky to have a caring TA who helped me tremendously. Your grade will primarily reflect who your TA is. Lot's of work for a 1 credit class but very interesting.
I took 110 with Dr. Reichart and it was super interesting. The biggest issue was the class was really big and fairly disrespectful to him as a result, so it was hard to focus/hear at times (not his fault!). Reichart and his TAs are always available and respond quickly, eager to help. If space fascinates you, jump on this class.
Professor Reichart's ASTR101 class was a mixed bag. While the lectures were engaging, the grading structure was frustrating. To succeed, you'll need to stay on top of the material and use resources like textbooks and Unstuck AI alongside class attendance.
I really liked Dr. Reichart, but I didn't like how this class was set up. The grades are based on your rank relative to others in the class, so only a few people will get A's. Made the course more stressful than a 100 level class should be.
(For ASTR110) My favorite professor so far at UNC. The work/research Dan is leading in the astronomy field is so inspirational, and his passion for teaching truly shows. Class is an easy A as long as you participate in your group and complete assignments on time. The projects are SO cool and I've learned so much about our universe! Highly recommend
Dan is a nice guy, but I hated ASTR 110. The class is poorly designed and has too many people for you to get help you need. All assignments are blogs you make with a team. This wouldn't be so hard if lectures aligned with the pacing of due dates—I rarely understood what lesson we were even covering that day. Material was a jumbled mess.
Pretty good experience so far. Although there was a blog to complete every week, the grading was quite lenient. Overall, it was still a very enjoyable experience.
Great class, 10/10 no notes. Super fun, easy to take with no physics background and low stress. Show up, do the work, get an A and make very cool images of space. Everything is done in groups made at the beginning of the semester so pick good partners early.
Honestly a blast. Am not an astro/physics major and I loved it -- he knows a lot of students are just here to get their FC Create and he throws in some physics and astro knowledge. We got to use fancy equipment to take cool pictures and edit them, we made a radio map of the universe. Easy A, and is super interesting! Would highly recommend.
ASTRO 110 with Dr. Reichart is a must-take for anyone interested in space, He's incredibly passionate and makes complex ideas clear and exciting. The TAs were friendly and hilarious, and winning cat stickers for Kahoots made class fun. If you don't do well, it's genuinely your own fault, they do everything in their power to help you succeed
Loved taking ASTR 101/100L over the summer w/ Reichart! 101: You basically just watch his recorded Covid lectures, but I really enjoyed them. Tests on minor details but you get to use a cheat sheet. Math is all plug & chug. Weird grading system though; see other reviews. 100L: easy & fun. Reichart is great and super responsive. I love astro now! :)
Your grade WILL get curved down. If you don't go to every extra credit opportunity (which are @10pm on going out nights LOL), you will not get the grade you DESERVE! Take another lab, even if you are in ASTR100! I'd say I understood and absorbed 100% of the material here, yet didn't get rewarded... what a joke.
Dude is hilarious I love him.
