Hard class, little help

If you want to fail take this course. All he does is talk and all that is on the test is what is in the text book. My advice is never go to class and very carefully review the textbook. You will do well if you read word for word of the textbook.
he thinks he's hilarious..come to class, and humor him and you'll be fine
I think he is a pretty easy teacher. All I do is review his notes. That is what he puts on the test.
Reads the notes to you. There is no need to go to class just read the notes and the book. Is a very hard class.
Easy B. VERY difficult A. On regular exams, he writes very good on scores of 80, but the final exam is extremely easy and worth up to 60 percent of your grade. Recommended class, if you can persevere.
I find it funny that everyone that says this class is hard also recommends not going to class. All you have to do is go to class where he explains his notes further and the tests come right from there. Easy B, gotta work for the A. Good class, good prof.
He sucked! VERY BORING! He thinks that he knows everything and is very funny, he isn't. Personally I thought he was really rude and shouldn't be teaching!
He sucks!!! If at all possible avoid taking the class. I went to class and still almost failed if it wasn't for that final being so easy! Take it with someone else if it is at all possible!!!!!!! I strognly urge you not to take the class!!
for some reason, i think he's prejudice....doesn't seem to want to help....and assumes everything works fine...
Very professional
Don't take this class if you want to get an A. They are extremely hard to get, no matter how often you go to class and study. Be careful of the first exam because everyone fails it!
I heard rumors about people that have taken his class in the past and said it was horrible. What's wrong with you people? Very smart professor that tries his best to get the point across. A lot of work to be done, but nothing that's boring, it's st
He sucks!
He is a vary hard grader! He likes to ramble in class about stuff that doesn't have anything to do with the class, he holds you 5 to 10 min late some days. The tests are kind of difficult, and his lectures are boring!
Sauers is a great guy. I really enjoy listening to his lectures because everyone knows that lectures get boring, but he makes them interesting, he applies real life situations to his lectures and some of them are funny. It is not an easy class..study!
Hard grader, he says it's an easy B, i guess it is, just study ur ass off for the tests, they're ur whole grade. He's eyecandy for the ladies.
stop your whinning this is college it isn't supposed to be easy and professors aren't supposed to hold your hand. He's a good teacher makes the lectures fun and interesting but you will have to work hard
good teacher. really straight forward in telling you what he wants. grades pretty hard on video cases. tests are kinda hard. really need to study in that class. his lectures and manerisms are funny though
Class is tough, lots of assignments and case work, but isn't too difficult if you put the time and effort in. One of the few professors on campus that wants his students to learn, unlike a certain Business Law professor.
Dr. Dan is good people. No easy A, but it's worth taking just to hear him speak.
lets just say this is how he is. When he explained grading procedures for case studies he said no one could recieve an A, not unless we were him because he knows everything.
i regret taking this class...i went to class everytime and did all the work, took notes, and still managed to get a D! I have never gotten a D and I don't think he graded fairly at all. Very hard and very boring. From someone who is a A/B student.
He was funny, and I've never heard a professor swear until him.
Some do not like Prof Sauers. He is not an easy professor. He is honest..at times brutally so. But, I did not have any problems with him. His education clearly extends past the classroom and some students may never be able to relate to that.
hard class-but if you work for your grade you do well- i got 2 d's and 2 b's and a b on the final and got a b in the class- worth taking
I think that Dr. Sauers was a good prof. He clearly enjoys teaching and wants his students to learn. I thought his lectures were usually amusing and enjoyed going to class. It's not an easy class so if you're looking for an easy A look for one elsewher
Thought it was going to be hard but it became my fav class. He is knowledgable. And quite nutty! Requires not too much of your time, study. daily quizzes. funny guy who is fair. Highly recommended.
A very exuberant professor, with UNBELIEVABLY boring material!!! seriously, it was an hour and a half knap every class period. Tons of information and test are tough.
got A's on all the exams, A's on all the assignments, showed up for every class, got a D on the final, got a D in the course. class is boring, he's funny, not very helpful.
Study the material and you'll be fine
This guy scared the crap out of me the first day when he warned us about how difficult the class was and how he has OCD and is an absolute perfectionist. Luckily, the class wasn't that bad. He's eccentric, but also interesting and very intelligent.
Great prof. Has a lot of worldly experience, so he knows what he is talking about. Just do your work and the class will be enjoyable. He keeps class interesting with his weird sense of humor. Recomended
Tells you exactly what is going to be on the test, and will explain anything readily if a question is asked. Keeps things interesting during class. Good teacher.
The class would be great if it wasn't on Tues and Thurs. It gets really long after you've been sitting in the same spot for an hour, but Dr. Sauers is a good guy and he tries to keep our attention as much as possible. You will walk away learning lots.
Very witty prof. Set in his ways, Hates George W. Bush and lets us know on a daily basis. Learned lots, much practical knowledge is gained from his class. Don't try and carch lunch on his time...disrespect is taken. Take him for a taste of the real world
Great general class, boring material at times but Dr. Dan is a great Prof. and makes going bearable. He can be quite nutty at times and goes on rants which is great. Easy to get a good grade if you JUST GO TO CLASS!!!
The person before me obviously just got a bad grade. I got a C, but it wasn't trying real hard. I think he's a good teacher, and isn't as hard as he'd like you to believe. He shifts a lot of weight and cares a lot. He puts his opinions into class too much
Kind of witty and sarcastic in lectures. Good professor overall. You need to study the material and attend class to do well. It's not an easy A.
Great Proff. He may intimidate you at first, but he's a softy at heart. He's very helpful if you meet with him out of class. I learned a lot from him!
Terrible professor. Talks about everything BUT the subject, marks papers as though he is an english teacher, the corrections he makes are nothing but switching the wording around so what your write and his "corrections" say the same thing. Ter
Not too bad. Tests are not easy but not extremly hard either. He has a werid sense of humor and repeats a lot of his jokes. he has a lot of energy. It is hard to make a class like that interesting, but he doesn't try too hard! Not a bad proffessor at all
For all people that come to college looking for an easy way out Just quit now! Classes are suppose to be challenging.. that means you are learning! Saures is an excellent professor that is NOT hard if you cover the material he SPECIFICALLY tells you to! class is great fun if you listen to him! HOT!
He is a very good professor...go to class and take notes and you will do fine. Test are kind of hard but quizes make up for them.
This man is quite the sweettooth, I sit at home dreaming of him everyday. Such eyecandy.
Sauers if very clear and fair. Go to class, know the stuff on the study guides and you will get a good grade. As cut and dried as your going to get for COLLEGE.
A LOT of energy! Knows his sh*t very well. Remembers everything except the lens cap on camcorders. Tells you exactally what to study, BUT tests are hard. A lot of buisy work, but thats life. Good teacher and nice guy. Tells ya how it is. Not an easy class to get ready to work.
very weird guy. Whoever said he was hot below is on crack. Can't remember anything from the class however it is super easy. Put in about a total of 2 hours outside of class and got a B
wow, where should i start. He thinks he's funny. Hes not. So hard to pay attention in class with 180 people, thank god for wireless internet!!
Sauers is a good guy. Knows his stuff and is willing to help if you need it. Just do your work and go to class, and you'll have no problem.
Dr. Dan is a great instructor. He posts his lecture notes because he wants you to pass. He's very helpful and very easy. If you aren't interested in Business it will be boring. But, go to class and study the notes and you can get an easy A. DEFINATELY TAKE DR. DAN!
hard to pay attention but easy class if you dont wait till the night before to study for the tests. not helpful at all and has a cocky ass attitude.
If he wasent such an ass then he might be a better teacher. Im here to learn about business not about how rich he is and how much he dislikes the government.
sucks at life. so rude to students its not even funny. don't take him unless you like hearing his political views and him complaining every class period. Do NoT tAkE HiS cLaSs. just don't. :-p
This guy is a f*cking ****...he thinks he shouldn't have to pay taxes and talks about being in the top 5% tax bracket all the time. uummmmkay?? he is the walking image of Lumberg...yeah,,,peter....what's happining? don't take this class unless you have to for your major...
doc sauers is a great guy. yeah, he can be an ass, but its actually kind of entertaining. if you read and/or study your notes, you'll be fine. just make sure you understand the material. if you make an appt, he'll take the time to help you with whatever. im actuallly going to miss the class...haha he's a funny guy
compare a monkey and him, u will find no difference, jumps around too much. Had a hot TA but i dont know if she is still there. His classes are fun, but attn. play a vital role. Exams are tough, dude its just 100 level classes. If it is just for Univ. req. think about it.
He is completely rude to students. Gets off on making people feel stupid...one of those that feels better by hurting others. Boring class. Can be helpful if you make an effort to talk to him, but most of the time you are afraid to approach him for fear of humiliation.
Yeah, he may get on your nerves, but that's the point of college, to be challenged. If your an total moron sitting on your ass expecting an easy A, you will bear the consequences. Otherwise, his class is an excellent learning experience.
The only difference between listening to him and watching paint dry is that paint has some color to it. he is lifeless, uncaring, and could care less about your learning. Avoid him at all costs. No, if you see him, run, don't walk away from him, and report him to animal control.
Sauers is a good teacher and if you pay attention and do the reading there is no reason not to do very well on the case quiz each class. The tests are the terms that he posts on line. If you study you should do well in this class but it is not a blow off.
you hafta go to class daily or it will hurt you badly, quizzes often, tests are easy C tought B, very hard A, i kinda liked the class, he gives you opportunity to make up quizzes, not a bad guy, don't cheat though
Dr. Dan is a wonderful prof. He is very well organized and is always there to help when you need it. He teaches his material well, but you have to do your work too. Be in class everyday and take the quizzes, read your chapters, and study for the test and you will do fine! He has a good sense of humor and wants you to succeed!
In order to do well in this clss, you have to show up everyday, read the book, review the lectures, and take all the movie quizzes! The tests also get harder and harder all the way to the end of the semester!
Dr. Sauers an unfair, sarcastic piece of work. He claims his tests will be easy, but actually tries to trick you! Don't bother studying, because it won't help you at all. Our class, which was made up of 165+, had an average of 64% on the quizes and a 72% on the final. Good luck!
Sauers is OK. Class is easy for the first 2 tests bcuz most of it is common sense. so make sure u dont blow them off and get ur grade up while u can. 1 quiz a week but thats not bad. tests r OK. final is hard. go to class for an easy C bcuz u get points. He knows his class is boring and trys his best. He can be really funny. JUST GO TO CLASS
Hes an excellent teacher but dont take him if your not ok with being pushed, having your mistakes blatantly pointed out, and dont have a sense of humor. Strongly recommended for business majors.
Dr. Dan is a decent teacher, but has a lot of stuff not running for him. He says he won't try and trick you, but in reality that's exactly what he did with every test I can think of with him. He can't figure out the damn CPS remote so you're stuck twiddling your thumbs, and a lot of people in my class think he screwed up our grades, all real low.
Sauers is a very good prof. Class has a writing flag, if you just keep your essays short and just answer the damn questions you will get good marks. 3 MC exams but comprehensive essay final. He is also very funny, which made the 3 hours go by relativity quickly.
Not a bad class but not a nice person.
not a good teacher. he thinks he is a baller with alot of money, but hes not. hes a dumb liberal and wears gym shoes with suites. Hes a clown
not a good teacher, too much time wasted telling pointless stories. never prepared for class
One of the best teachers I've ever had. A challenging, no frills, straight shooting teacher. Keeps lectures interesting by adding in bad jokes, current issues and tangents which frustrate some people because they don't get the relevance or are impatient. Relates information he teaches to his own personal success to prove its worth validity.Very Fai
Sauers was the best teacher that I have ever had. Interesting lectures, fair grading, and he will prepare you for the business world better than any other teacher.
WSU is lucky to have him. I have learned a lot from him.
just one word to describe him. "SAUERS IS GOD"
hard proffesor, but he is worth taking, you actually learn in his classes. he is easily one of the best proffesors in the WSU business program...Prof May and Prof C. Kim(finance) are up there with him.
Write up Cases and Exercises are tough, well not really but his grading is tough.
Dan Sauers for President! Is the strictest teacher I have ever taken, and left me wanting MORE. Answers the question, "What would happen if I could bottle the entusiasm and curiosity of a two-year old?" The answer is a teacher that will TEACH and help you LEARN. WSU needs to find more academics that love to TEACH and expect students to learn.
he really hates who misses class and he looses his temper preety soon....
This guy is amazing. His lectures are well laid out and is easy to understand. Doesn't hurt his case that he got me three blue cards at new student registration. :) TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
Bad prof!!!!! Unfair grader expects more of certain students. One big group project my group did 3 times as much work as any of the others but still everyone got the same grade. AVOID THIS PROF!!!!!!
If learning and accountability are important to you, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Sure you can call his methods unconventional, but you can't say you didn't learn anything.
Very good prof! Yes, this class is a lot of work, but it is also a senior capstone course, so its going to be a challenge! Show up to class and do your work, and you will do just fine in this course (easy B). The quizzes can be challenging, but they are only 10% of your overall grade. You actually LEARN from Dr. Dan and he is very interesting.
Very Very Bold
Sauers is the better prof to take when it comes to this class by far. It's a proper balance between time invested & material learned. You do have to put up with his antics & the way he points to people and says, "He knows what I'm talking about," when the kid wasn't even paying attention. Don't be intimidated, his bark is much bigger than his bite!
Must attened class gives u lecture notes awesome teacher highly recommened
Took Dr. Dan for both MGMT 345 and 495, for both got C. His requirements are tough, but that's how it is supposed to be, it's a university overall. Learned more about good writing techniques in his class than in english classes! Take classes with him if you want them to be tought at university level!
He is rude to his students in his responses & half the time he doesnt respond to my e-mails.Acts more like an english teacher & spelling and grammar are half your essay grade.Tough grader.Assignments are straight forward & not very difficult, but again can be a tough grader.Would take online, but i cant imagine how mean he would be in person.
Don't take this class if you're not a business major. He assumes you know everything about business before taking the course and doesn't like people that are not business majors! Very hard class.
Hardest teacher I've ever had. Grades terribly. If you make spelling errors he knocks it off your grade. Even if you have a good answer. If your not a business major and can help it, don't take him. Take someone nice, who's actually a good person. He's just horrible
If you are looking for an easy A, don't take Dr. Sauers. With that said, I think he is one of the best professors I have had at WSU. He genuinely cares about his students and offers quick responses to questions. While the stuff in the textbook is important, he teaches in a way to gain experience and learn beyond the textbook. Great Professor!
I had him for an intro to business class. Was on facebook all hour. Class is an easy B if you show up for class since there are quizes only open during class time. Funny guy, sometimes rude, but nice for the most part.
Class is mandatory - easy points for in-class video quizzes. Chapter readings and quizzes between each lecture. Tests are hard if you don't take notes in class. Has an odd sense of humor. Was on facebook for most of the classtime.
He is the worst professor I have had at WSU. He will not answer questions without tearing you down first. I still got an A in the course, but it is a lot of work. He would make a great high school English teacher, and to him grammar is more important than understanding the concepts.
He is very rude and arrogant. He uses a simulator so there is no text book and teaching from him. He continuously insults students, their writing, and calls them procrastinators because the assignments are not finished two weeks before they are due. He is not helpful when asked a question. Avoid him because he is rude and unpleasant.
I went into this class, excited to learn the new online virtual learning tool..I got a lot from that, but everyone else was annoying and rude. Would be nice if Sauers and his minions were able to practice what the class preaches. Good leadership skills. Praise and helpful suggestions is what motivates ME……not rudeness and being talked down to.
This professor is terrible. His grading is ridiculous and inconsistent. For someone that stresses the case write ups to be in a formal business language, he sure doesn't write his correspondences to students in a formal business language. All emails are rude as well as any comments on his grading.
He is the worst professor on the face of the earth! He is EXTREMELY rude in his emails and is really arrogant. No wonder he only has online for this course because NO ONE would make the whole semester with this guy. Hard grader and due dates aren't stated clearly on D2L . He definitely should be an English the way he grades papers. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
His grading is so harsh. If you miss a comma, minus 5 points. If you have one space after a period instead of two, minus 5 points. Use a contraction (won't, can't etc.), minus 5 points. He seems to get off on chastising the class when they don't do as well as he would like.
I am writing this comment in order to prepare you for his class.. If you want a prof. that deducts 5 points for not having a company title in italics take Sauers, if you want to spend 3-7 hours a wk doing hw take Sauers. I am an A-B student and will receive my first ever C in this class. You do group projects every wk in which you have no cntrl ovr
If you can, avoid this teacher. After the final, I totaled my grade to be a B, but he gave me a C & told me he didn't have the time to see where my calculations went wrong. If you ask him a question, he will tear you down & make you feel stupid for asking before answering it. Half the grade for papers is on the presentation, instead of the content.
I was looking forward to the class a lot, but when i asked questions the teachers emails were short and not very helpful, but was borderline rude. will avoid subjects he teaches regardless!!!! i hope he improves his communication skills with students
Incredibly rude and unprofessional. His main objective is to teach students how smart he is, and nothing about the actual course content. He grades based upon grammar, but he refers to his own personal preference instead of any rules of actual grammar. The worst professor I have ever had. Class is a waste of time and money
HORRID PROFESSOR! He is incredibly rude and will talk down to you as if you are worth nothing. Half of your grade is based on your grammar. This being said, he follows his own MADE UP GRAMMAR RULES, not what is correct. He will find any way possible to show how 'smart' he is, when in reality, he is incredibly ignorant.
Extraordinarily rude and condecending. Do not consider asking questions or you will regret it . This professor is on a power trip and I highly recommend taking ANY professor but him.
Incredibly rude. Cares more about grammar than teaching his students. Stay away from this guy.
Had online. Tough grader. You better know how to write good essays/papers using proper english for he cares more about this than the content of your work. Gives quick feedback but feedback isn't helpful at all. Also, 10 minute quizzes every week and quizzes have 15-20 questions on average, not enough time to even really read the questions.
Do yourself a favor and NEVER take a class with Dr. Sauers. He is more focused on grammar than the actual content of anything you write. If you do take him, be aware that any grammar you have ever learned is wrong in his eyes. He makes up his own grammar rules. Please avoid, so maybe the university will second-guess who they hire as professors.
Dr. Sauers' grading criteria is unclear. Expect deconstructive criticism. Do not take the online class with Virtual Learning Center. You watch hours of animated videos that simulate an internship at a pipe manufacturing company. Although, at points they are informational, they tend to drift off topic and become mind numbingly mundane.
I would never recommend this class to anyone. The online version of this class takes 90 hours to complete and thats not optional. You sit on the computer as a virtual intern having to watch EVERY video and you can't skip anything. You have to complete 11 modules that take anywhere from 5-10 hours to complete each, not just all 11. Worst class ever
Because I truly believe this man shouldn't be allowed to teach International Business, or at all, this is my second review about him. Avoid! He only cares about grammar, unclear directions, you don't learn anything, he doesn't offer help, his class meetings are pointless, etc. Please please do not take his online International Business class.
Genuinely I feel like he gets enjoyment out of making student either fail or drop his class. The only thing that I have learned is a real-world situation. How to put up with a boss who is difficult and will try to drive you away from your job. The only difference is I need this class and I'm paying for this. Avoid at all costs.
I've taken to not looking before I cross the street to get to class, with the hopes that I will be hit by a car. I have emailed this professor numerous times to ask questions, and he starts every reply by telling me I don't know how to follow rules, even though he provides no instruction. He cares more about his fake grammar than the class itself.
I'll start by saying that this has been the most challenging class I have had at WSU. That said, it has also been the most beneficial. If you are looking for an easy A, I would suggest a different prof. He can be intimidating at first, but if you stick with it and work hard to understand the content in the chapters this class can be very rewarding.
This is a management class, but I feel like I have learned how not to manage an organization by his teaching. Grammar is his biggest emphasis, not the content; however, if you do not say something the exact way he is thinking, he will mark a lot of points off. Professors should challenge students, but they should also help, and he did not help.
Possibly the worst professor on this campus, and he only teaches online classes. My adviser told me I had messed up taking his class, and that the College of Business is trying every way possible to get rid of him. He acts like a child, and is more worried about grammar rather than the information you actually submit. Made an easy class very hard.
This professor is the worst at Winona State. He is incredibly rude and makes an insane amount of inappropriate comments. He only cares about grammar and not about the actual content you turn in. Do not take him.
Professor Sauers is a horrible professor. He was rude and not willing to help when I came to him with questions. The software used in the class is quite easy to maneuver, but it gives very little instruction on assignments. Sauers also provides little help in clarifying what we need to do on those tasks. I dropped the class recently because of it.
This is 100% the worst class I took at WSU. I took it at the same time as mgmt 495 and this one was much harder. You will spend 5-10 hours/wk completing a module that is completely online in a virtual setting. You can't skip the videos and the questions are extremely difficult to answer. There's not textbook to reference and professor isn't helpful
Smart, funny, helpful. Really wants you to reach your potential. Challenging but fun class.
Don't ever take this professor unless you want to go crazy. For every assignment you may have the answer 100% correct but if it is not in his made up grammar rules or unorthodox presentation standards you will have a hard time passing. Claims he has no time to look over your work to give you feedback while he sits in his office all day.
This professor thinks very highly of himself. Half the class dropped when the professors name was put in the class. He loved to degrade students in front of others to make himself look better than others. I should have dropped or at the least reported his behavior. I would stay longer at WSU not to take him. Horrible human.
I don't know what these other students are complaining about. Yes, Dr. Dan's standards are high, but I have learned more in his class than any other that I have taken at WSU. He is a tough grader, but he provides prompt, detailed feedback. If you read his comments on your paper and avoid making the same mistakes again, you'll get an A.
Finally, a Prof who has actually been there and done that. Lots of international experience. Some students find his "war stories" boring, but he knows his stuff. Hard grader but fair. Really cares about your education. Helped me with my schedule even though he was not my advisor.
I am actually astounded that Professor Sauers is rated low on here! Yes, MGMT 325 is difficult, and yes, you need to attend class and participate in case discussions, but if you attend class, do your homework, and ask for help if you need it, the course is an easy B. He's a nice prof who really wants you to succeed.
I haven't learned anything from Dr. Sauers, only from reading the textbook and doing the quizzes. You can tell he is knowledgeable and nice but uses his class time to rant. He grades harshly at first, but it's straightforward once you figure out what he wants. I would not recommend his class, but stick it out if you have to take it.
I fought tooth and nail for this A. If you have a busy semester ahead of you, good luck. I ranked him in the middle because my opinion frequently shifts on him. On one hand, his grading is sometimes blatantly unfair, and he has openly admitted to manipulating us. On the other, he truly does care about you as a person and wants you to succeed.
Awful. Just awful.
Daniel gets off on making his class hard. He is a lazy professor who had us pay $1500 for the course and another $150 for an online e-learning program. It allows him not to do anything the entire semester and just sit back and collect checks. Make sure to not use AI when writing your papers because he checks.
His intentions are to improve student's writing abilities and get them to think outside of the box. Good intention, terrible execution. He always finds something wrong with everyone's papers, and you'll never get 100%. You have assignments due before the first day of class and half the students drop the class. Don't let him scare you.
Professor Sauers can be tough, but engaging with his method pays off. The textbook and Unstuck study helped me stay on top of the workload. Tough grader, but fair feedback.
He does improve your writing ability as the semester goes on, his rants consist of the most VILE things I've heard a college educator say. Does a poor job of going over anything you will be assessed on for the final exam.REQUIRES YOU TO GET A 60% OR ABOVE TO PASS THE CLASS, REGARDLESS OF YOUR ACTUAL GRADE from the other work you've done for WEEKS.
Course fixates on micro grammar errors, not content. No lectures, just margin rants and pointless jargon. Communication breakdown shows zero synchronicity or connection value. Real takeaway: how to tolerate a disengaged, petty manager. Recommend early retirement or a move to copyediting.
Took this class in the June term. The worst professor I've ever had in the College of Business! Makes the class hard for no reason. Often rambles on about things not even related to class content. Quizzes 4 times a week with 3 attempts to improve your score, but each time you make an attempt, the questions change. Does not provide a study guide.
