This class is amazing! There are 4-500 word papers and 1-1000 word paper. Attendance is part of the grade, you are allowed to miss 8 classes with no penalty. would recommend.
Dan Tremaglio is an incredible teacher. He is inspiring and provides various amazing and high level readings for the class. Expect lots of participation, but the environment is very friendly and Dan takes time to make sure people are on the same page. If you are interested in writing, or just want to take a spectacular class, take him!!
Dan is a great professor. Great sense of humor, great feedback, and always glad to answer questions and help. If you show up and give an ounce of effort you'll do fine.
Mr. Tremaglio is in one word amazing. I would DEFINITELY take many other classes with him. He is so helpful, understanding, with an amazing sense of humor, always prepared for the class, and so on. I would undoubtedly say that he is PERFECT.
I took his class as a running start student. Amazing teacher. Gives really good feedback. Doesn't force you to talk unless it's for the seminar but then you would only have to talk once. The quizzes were really easy too. It's on a pass or fail so as long as you get at least a 3/5 on the quizzes then you'll get 2 points. 4 Essays. 1 Book.
Dan is by far the best professor I have ever had at BC. He is caring, listens to your opinions and does not assign busy work. I hope to have his class again one day, and if you can, get into his class. Never boring and always entertaining.
Love this class with Dan. It is super well-organized! There are 4 papers & a bunch of reading quizzes from a very difficult novel. Be prepared to talk in seminars, as there will be many! Stay on track of your work and you should be fine.
Dan is great. His lectures are kinda all over the place but really interesting. Only one book for the whole quarter but it's a very high reading level and confusing at times. if you like group discussions you'll love his class, and if you don't want to talk you only have to say a quick sentence to get credit. Quizzes are very easy.
His classes were fun and you have to participate each class but it's basically talking about your thoughts over the reading. To me, the book that I read in class was hard but I think he's gonna changed it. There are about 4 papers but they have clear instruction and you can get it checked from him before you turn in the final draft.
Dan's a great professor. The only really hard thing about his class is that you have to read a lot. He really cares about what you have to say and he's always looking for ways to help you improve your writing. I didn't even really like writing before his class. Now I'm a bit more confident in my skills. So definitely take him if you get the chance!
Listen up folks, this here is the best English teacher you can take at BC. He is a true master of his craft, knows how to make people motivated to write, and gives really great feedback on papers. He is humble and considers himself "the first student" rather than just a teacher. He will teach you how to love reading and writing.
There was really nothing wrong with Dan all the information he gives out during class is info that will really be useful in the future. I guess his grading is a little stiff but you know how your work is and he grades to it.
1. Class was fun with him. 2. Read and be ready to take the quiz each week! It's a pass/fail quiz! If you get at least 3/5 on the quiz then you'll get 2 points but if you get less than that, you get 0 3. Will write a half page random prompt some days, graded on effort! 4. We had 4 essays! Each with its own theme and out of 10 points! Easy tho!
Dan is one of the best professors I've ever had. He's super funny and open to just about anything you ask or write about. The only thing about this class is that it's workshop (writing lab) heavy so you're not really learning much from him. He's more of a guiding hand than anything. 10/10 would recommend!
Solid pick for an English teacher! Very willing to work with you to improve your writing, and pretty flexible. reading quizzes graded on pass/fail- not anything too crazy. just do the readings and you'll do good. Seems like a fair grader
Almost every day there is a writing prompt, so you have to show up to get credit. Only four papers throughout the quarter. Not a very hard class, excellent teacher, he tries to teach what he thinks you'll use in life. Very encouraging teacher, would definitely take him again!!!!!
He is nice, caring & knows how to teach. His methods are dynamic. I enjoyed every thing. We wrote 4 papers and read two books. I strongly recommend this teacher.
Really cares about student's opinions, takes time to connect with the class. This class isn't work heavy but very thinking heavy. He takes time to help you understand what we're talking about and helping you become a better writer
Dan is by far one of my favorite teachers on campus! He is very focused on reading so be prepared to read books. He is also very kind and respectful, and if I had a more open schedule I would take him again next quarter.
He is amazing. A really down to earth guy. In breaks you can talk to him about whatever. He sits the chairs in a circle and will sit at one of those tiny desks. He gives you a break for two hour classes. Isn't too boring. And really isn't that bad looking.
I dont like English class at all. I really hate communication theories. However, he made me to like the class. He focused on practical stuff. If you have to take eng 101, his class is the best
My favorite teacher hands down. His lecture is inspirational and hilarious, the first teacher that makes me think English class is actually not boring. There is a class discussion once a week with participation points. I am not a native English speaker but he makes me feel comfortable speaking in front of the class. Getting A from him is not hard.
He seems really excited about the stuff he teaches and it makes lectures more interesting. Work hard and hell watch your back. I skipped one too many papers and my grade was just below a C but Dan changed my 8/10 paper to a 10/10 to bring my grade up at the end of the quarter even though I didnt ask him about it. I only noticed via canvas notifs
Dan made a boring class fun to come to! He has so many creative ways of teaching the material which made the class very interesting. He really cares about his students. Big on participation and will give good feedback on essays. Would 100% take again!.
He is the best English teacher at Bellevue college. Really easy class. Just do the usual readings and the quizzes will just be a piece of cake. We wrote one research paper and he gives you amazing feedback before submitting the final draft to let you know this is the grade you will be getting if you were to submit it as it is.
Dan is a living god. He has majestic jungle warlord tattoos on his massive arms, so if that bothers you, take his class anyways. You will not regret it.
The ideas you get from this class will follow you throughout your entire college career. He teaches class in the form of an engaging discussion so if you are shy, you will discover your voice in his class. If you don't particularly like essays, take Dan because he makes the writing assignments so interesting, you can't wait to get your ideas out!
Personable, unintimidating, accommodating for immigrants and people with learning disabilities. Memorized our names by the third day. Wish he spent a little more time teaching us how to write our essays, though. Entertaining and hilarious.
Dan's the best. Took his classes for both 101 and 271, remain the courses I've felt taught me the most, in terms of progress. The assignments and the way he sets them up inspire both creativity and critical thinking of what works--and what doesn't. He's really helpful if you get stuck, and great at pushing you in the right direction, just ask.
Dan is the best professor. For taking an English class. The work was very easy and there is lots of conversation going on in his class. I had his 2 hour class. And I never checked time. He was really fun. (Be ready to see this kind of punctuation in his writings)
I didn't believe in God before I took his class. Writing papers is the one thing I hated, because of high school. But get this: His prompts are actually fun to write. You have complete freedom on how to write them, you don't have to follow the 5 paragraph rule, the stupid 4 parts of intro and conclusion. You can even swear.
Dan really was the best teacher ever. I have no complaints. Our class was never boring and i looked forward to coming in. He was a funny guy.
I have so much to say, 350 characters aren't enough to describe how great Dan is. That and everybody on here pretty much said almost everything I wanted to say. Take his class, you won't regret it. Best English professor ever!!!
Awesome teacher! His class is really fun and he encourages participation. It is a really easy class to pass. The assignments are mostly reading and then the essays. The books are good and we talk about them in class. He is funny and the essay prompts are fun to write. I also missed like 5 classes and still got an A. He gives easy points to pass.
I loved Dan! It was great taking English 101 with him over the summer because he was always so understanding. He is really funny and tries to get everyone involved in all activities! I would definitely recommend his class!
He's the best English teacher.
Dan is my favorite teacher of all time. He made me excited to read and write. He drove me to challenge myself for the sake of self-improvement rather than for a grade. Even if you don't get inspired the same way I did, the class is piss easy, so you can get an A no prob and generally have a great time. Highly recommended.
Dan is probably the best teacher I have ever had. Super funny guy and made so many concepts super easy to understand and enjoyable to learn. I was really gifted to have Dan as my teacher and I high recommend him. 1000% would take again!!
Dan is an awesome professor. You read 3 books in class and 4 papers. Pretty easy, turn in your work and participate in seminars. He likes to hear students opinions. Super chill guy. Helps out a lot with sample papers and feedback. Easy quizzes on books you read. Just be an active member of the class.
This professor is amazing, I love his emphasis on being creative and interesting, this has been my favorite class to take so far. He's super engaging and fun and you can tell he really cares. I wish I could take this class again.
Dan is one of my favorite professors of all time. His lectures are super fun, and he will make you want to write. This isn't any other formal boring writing class. He encourages you to be creative and think outside the box. I would definitely take his class again if I could. Such a legend.
He is really nice guy, he definitely understands that his students are not interested in literature and just want ENGL&101 for credit, I definitely recommend him, I am a horrible writer and he gave me A's in all my essays, and he is very clear about what he wants in his assignments and essays. Easy A.
Awesome Teacher- super nice Took class over summer
Dan motivates students to read and write. He introduces several teaching techniques that make his class unique, and you go out from lessons full of emotions, discussing what you've learned with classmates. I would definitely suggest choosing this instructor if you can. Dan is GOAT!!!
I signed up for an English composition class and ended up taking a creative writing class. Dan enjoys what he does, and you can tell. His enthusiasm is infectious! He is always looking for you to "tell a story" with your words. This class is a must if you have to write a college application essay in the future. Homework is graded on completion.
Dan's English class was the best English class I have ever taken. Running Start students - take his class! He is hilarious, sweet, and a really incredible writer. The stories he picks out are relevant and interesting, he teaches class in an extremely engaging way, and he is extremely approachable. Take his class !!
HIS CLASS IS AN EASY A. THERE ARE SO MANY CHANCES TO GET AN A. THERE ARE MINI QUIZES, 3 PAPERS, AND MINI WRITING PROMPTS. ONLY THE PAPERS ARE GRADED BY QUALITY, THE REST ARE GRADED ON COMPLETION. HE MAKES HIS STUDENTS NOT FEEL LIKE WE AREN'T GOOD, HE IS SO WELCOMING, NICE, FUNNY, CARING, AND RESPECTS HIS STUDENTS.
Dan was one of the best English teachers I've ever had. He gives thorough and positive feedback on assignments and stories 99% of the time, which I really appreciated. He also worked hard to engage the students despite the class being online due to corona.
This class was great! Dan is awesome, he always gets grades back fast, has plenty of extra credit, and has really clear rubrics. every assignment we did made sense, no busy work, and he explains the purpose of it all. His feedback is very clear and he grades pretty kindly. this is my favorite English class ever, i strongly recommend.
This class was great! There were lots of extra credit opportunities and assignments were clear and engaging. Definitely my favorite class so far (over corona). There was a manageable amount of work and no heavy reading.
Really wish I could have taken another course with Dan. He has an indomitable spirit and teaches his students how to become better writers for life. Some of his class material was great, but Dan is just such a young character so engaged with literature it's hard not to love him. He has a very intuitive teaching style- I'm still thankful for him.
Dan was an amazing professor who showed real passion for english. His assignments are practical and his comments helpful, i would 100% take his class again.
Dan is one of those professors that genuinely care about you learning the content. His assignments were straight forward and weren't completely difficult once you wrap your head around it. As long as you follow the instructions and put in effort, you're bound to get a good grade and actually learn some useful things.
Go for Pr. Tremaglio. His 101 class is an easy A. But it has a lot of reading though
I really like this teacher. He gives great feedback, plenty of time for assignments, and his lectures are actually entertaining to watch. He does a great job of making the class both informative and entertaining, and he seems to actually care about his job. great teacher.
Wow, this guy is amazing. He has made me love writing and is so engaging with his lectures. Though you will have to spend some time doing the work, like writing a page response, it's not that difficult and is very manageable. I highly recommend taking if you will be applying to college soon, you will leave the class with 2-3 essays to reuse later
Dan really cares about his students and tries his hardest to make the class fun. Read what you need to read and finish assignments on time and you should get an easy A.
Best prof Ive had, no doubt!!! He really is engaged and enthusiastic about the material and it makes you more involved and excited. There were not essays and assignments were fun and easy. Lectures were great and I understood the material. I will definitely take another of his classes!!
I mean... he's fine, I guess. The only real complaint I have is that he has these useless lectures, at least 3 a week with these "watchwords" which means instead of listening to the lecture all you're doing is skipping through. The lectures could be skipped tbh, but the books he assigned were good, and hopefully the final isn't hell.
The best professor I've ever had, I mean it. Fun prompts, fun class! Not too heavy on reading or writing, while still teaching the basics of a good paper. This is the class for you to get in touch with your story-telling side and make each paper as interesting as possible. Have fun while writing the papers and it'll easily be your favorite class!
An unforgettable professor if you care to explore your mind a bit. I absolutely recommend The Art & Science of Dreaming course, my favorite class ever taken. Ive had Dan twice and hes just such a personable and fun guy. He also writes novels which is pretty cool! Loved his prompts and teaching style, he also finds interesting readings to assign.
I LOVED this class. It was my favorite class of the quarter! This professor was engaging and gave a huge amount of support and feedback. His lecture videos were funny but informative, and he really shows that he cares for his students. The class workload wasn't so heavy as it involved a small prompt every week and a paper every 2-3 weeks!
Just like the other reviews say: TAKE DAN'S CLASS! He is such a good teacher, and had the best book lineup I've ever had in a class. For someone who doesn't read much, the books were manageable and very interesting to read. His discussions are actually engaging and make you want to actually talk about the books.
The best professor I've ever had! Super nice and caring, and grading is super clear! You only read one book the entire quarter, and it's just a book with a bunch of short stories in it, and they're actually really interesting! There's 3 papers total, which are all super easy, and 6 prompts you do. I 100% would take his class again if I could.
Dan was absolutely the best professor I've had at BC. His lectures were easy and definitely stood out. He was encouraging and always had a good thing to say about any assignment submitted.
Dan Tremaglio is by far one of the best professors Ive had at BC! Especially for English, he was amazing! 3 essays he gave us ton of time to work on, only one book to buy, short prompts and he gives great feedback on all of them! I actually learned a lot and looked forward to his lectures each week! Just an amazing teacher
Serious: how is this even a college level class? I learned so much more in my 201 class than I ever learned in this one. If you intend to transfer to a four year, this professor is not preparing you. I took his 101 class last year, and I'm paying for it now lol at UW where I need much stronger writing skills than anything he covered.
This class is an easy A if you do the work. He grades things very quickly and gives feedback on almost everything. There are 3 big papers about 500-1250 words and 7 weekly writing prompts average of 400-500 words. Weekly discussion posts. Occasional handouts graded on completion, not correctness. Overall, would definitely recommend this teacher.
Are you looking for a professor? Dan is the best professor I ever had in Bellevue College. He gives many homework for credit points. i learnt a lot with him.
Take this class. He is the best teacher ever.
Dan is so amazing! He is so friendly and not out to get you. A lot of reading in the engl111 class, but it is intro to lit after all. Weekly discussions in hybrid class, not rly graded on participation. Very organized and he is easy to reach outside of class. Weekly quiz, insanely easy if you do the reading. Many EC opportunities. Easy A.
Awesome professor! Definitely take him. Tons of extra credit options and overall a pretty easy and stress-free class. Attendance does matter though, so keep that in mind. You will be graded based on whether you show up or not so as long as you show up, you'll be fine.
if u want an A in this class, take him.
One of the best teachers ever! He is super funny and makes the class really fun. He makes writing essays fun. Super easy grader and is caring. I would 100% take the class again.
Dan is a very understanding and flexible teacher. As long as you have good communication with him, deadlines can be moved. If you complete the work, you should get an A. I feel like I've learned more in his class than in any other ENG class I've taken. He keeps his class AND homework engaging. I highly recommend taking this professor!!!
Dan is very friendly, cares enough to learn his student's names and is just a great professor. Take him! All you have to do is turn in good, quality work and you'll have a deserving grade.
I think he's a good prof, just not for this class. sounded a lot more fun than it actually was. You have to BUY all of the books?? There's no time to read this much if you have a life, work, extracurricular outside of this. Attendance is mandatory and he will take points off, not fun. Don't take this class unless you really want to waste your time.
Dan is a really chill teacher. I took him for English 111 and it was a very easy class. As long as you read the books, or have some idea on what they are about, you will do very well. The final being a fanfiction was also very funny, and creative.
As someone who is a straight A (running start) student but usually dislikes my English classes, I REALLY enjoyed his class! His class is an easy A with only a couple assignments a week, interesting lectures, and 3 essays in the quarter which were fun to write since he allowed you to get creative with your topics. Will be taking his classes again!!
Easy class mostly but you will learn a lot if you put the effort into learning the material and are not just there for the credits.
Great professor, especially if you just need your english credit. There are a few short writing prompts and three essays that are well-spaced out and help prepare you for college admissions essays. He gives you plenty of time to work on it and has a clear rubric to what he is looking for. Fun and caring professor who wants you to succeed.
Love this professor so much! I would say this is one of the great professor i took in Bellevue college so far. Very understanding, great lectures (they're very fun!), if you submit everything on time and do it right, you would get a full point!
understanding, respectful, funny, lenient, flexible grader, gives extra time and help if needed, very clear on what's needed of you for assignments and class, overall a 10/10 guy and professor, i definitely recommend
RunningStart student and he's been my absolute FAVORITE TEACHER during my two years at Bellevue, took 2 of his classes. As long as you try, easy class. There are two short stories you create along with many casual prompts. One story you can workshop (reviewed by peers) if you so choose, I was nervous at first but loved the experience. Take him!!
I love Prof. Dan. He is the best at explaining things. A lot of the homework is to prepare you for the big paper, which for me wasn't hard. I did the work, and when it was time to do the big paper, it wasn't hard.
Dan is by far the best prof I've ever taken. Took an in-person class over the summer and it was great! He's super funny and shared great tips for writing that have stuck with me. Extremely engaging and a great storyteller, he will teach you how to be one as well! Highly, highly recommend taking his class if you can (especially an in person one)!!
Took for both ENG101 and ENG201, in-person and online. Caring and organized professor who wants students to succeed. Easy assignments and class if you do the work on-time. Consists of easy worksheets, a few short writings and one final paper 7-12 pages long. Take him for a stress-free English course!
I took his hybrid class this past summer and it was so rewarding! He understands why students take his class (for prereqs obviously) and curated his coursework to be actually helpful & engaging (we wrote papers that we could use for college applications!). Going in-person was definitely worth it because his lectures help you write better! :)
One of the best intro class teachers you could take for this subject, funny and clear with instructions, helpful feedback and overall great class, would definitely take another with him.
I LOVE DAN!!!! Hes so chill. this is my 3rd class with him and i love it. hes so nice. hes also realistic. he understands people's schedule and loves to work around it. he has small assignments every week that dont take time but are so easy to understand and learn from. his class fills up so fast so be quick. also, dont procrastinate
I've taken his english 101 class and loved it, however, his 201 english is a different story. it's just handouts and handouts and handouts that are just tips and tricks for your big final paper. his teaching for this class is "seminar style" (taken from his syllabus) and doesn't really do any actual teaching. he also took multiple days to respond.
Great professor! thoroughly enjoyed his class and some of his videos for the beginning of the week were funny. Overall, the grading system was easy and I recommend dan to anyone who needs to take an English class.
Attendance is mandatory, but you get 2-3 excused absences. Lectures are seminar-style but actually interesting. The 1st half of the quarter is preparing for the big paper, and the 2nd half of the quarter is the big paper. There's a few HW assignments a week, but they are very doable and take 30 minutes total. Lenient grader and understanding.
I've always loved English and was so scared taking college level English would ruin if for me but i truly learned so much from this class and am currently trying to get into another one of his classes he made me realize so much about writing that I haven't before. He cares so much for his students and their work, he also gives great feedback!
This professor is amazing! If you love to write, this is the guy for you. His assignments are pretty straightforward, so be prepared to write creatively!
Dan is a super great professor, and he did a great job making English fun to learn. I took the class online, and he had small assignments due every single day during the week, but you could easily do all of them in about 2 hours. For English 101, we had 3 big papers, but he does a great job connecting all of the assignments making papers super easy
