The lay out of the class is pretty reasonable, but the way he teaches isn't so great. He takes a long time explaining a problem and when you don't understand and ask him to go over it, he won't!! don't bother going to the test overview because he doesn't really go over whats on the test.

Good teacher, but here are some tips to getting an A in his calculus class: (1) don't take notes, just pay close attention to his lecture, (2) do all the homework on time, (3) don't be intimidated by him; ask questions right away if there's something about his lecture you don't understand, or at least talk to him after class. He is happy to help.

Prof Wheeler is an interesting teacher. it's almost hard to explain. He takes attendance daily. But teaches straight from the book that it's almost a carbon copy of his lectures and the text. Homework isnt so bad. 3 exams are pretty easy - they're easier than the practice exams. And another good thing is that he tells you what will be on the final.

One of the most unhelpful teachers I've ever had. Also very inaccessible. Students would have to correct his work.

Took Dan in the fall 2015 & the class was very easy. He let us have an 8x11 cheat sheet for each test. He goes over all the questions that are going to be on the test. So write down all the steps & equations b/c on the test it is just different numbers. The HW can be kind of annoying though. Dan is like a sweet old grampa.

Homework is awful on webassign. Isn't engaging in his teaching and is unclear when doing examples. Last resort teacher right here. However, his tests are pretty easy because he runs tou through what will be on them.

Dan gets confused often when showing examples of the board. I missed a day of class where he gave back test. I attended his office hours 5 different times asking him for a my test back. The last visit I had with Dan he told me that I should have shown up to class. He doesn't care if you put in the work, he's really sensitive about attendance :,(

Doc Wheeler is everything you would want in a math prof. I had him for Diff Eq's over the summer. He's approachable, clear about what he expects, and doesn't hem you up over small calculation errors, as long as your reasoning was on target. If you show up late or don't attend, he's hard on you. Its disrespectful and immature, so I don't blame him.

best calc prof.! mandatory attendance but clearly explains the work and process. allows one sheet of notes for exam so if you follow exactly what he puts as examples you'll be good. he stresses the book like crazy, never picked it up. catty about late students and poor attendance but otherwise an adorbs old man. great at answering questions.

Show that you're willing to put in the effort and it's hard to fail one of his classes. Has the occasional minor slip up with his lectures but never because of lack of understanding. Personable guy.

Took this course and His grading criteria is really clear as your grade is graded off of only several big exams and your attendence. Attendence is part of your grade and I would say he doesn't assign much homework, nor is it graded. But to do well in this class it requires self teaching and asking lots of questions, He is a nice funny cute teacher.

He a sweet old man. He know his stuff. however if you don't have a strong math background good luck. His grading criteria is straightforward and attendance matter. his lecture is straight from the book. exam is way harder than his lecture. Use person-lab for h.w. allow one page of note. but this makes the exam harder. GOOD LUCK

I would definitely take a course with professor Wheeler again. The bottom line for him is this: Show up to class and actually pay attention and you shouldn't have trouble passing. Homework can be hit or miss, but for tests, he usually covers what every question will be and solves example questions during class.

What I hated the most about his class was when he would read off of the "textbook" It seems like he does not know exactly what he's teaching when it comes to calculus. Two other books he told us to buy was never used in class which makes me furious to think that I wasted money on books that was not once used in class. Would I take him again? NO.

I am not good with Math but i literally do well for his homework and exams. He allows cheat sheet for exams and he put up practice exams which are similar to the exam questions. However, you must show up to every class and you are not allowed to play your phone in class. Homework is assigned basically every class.

he's pretty picky on the formatting on the homework and even the tiniest mistakes on an exam will get some points marked off. fortunately, he allows cheat sheets on the day of the exam and gives a practice exam before each one which is pretty helpful. apply yourself and make an effort to form a study group within the class and you should be fine

He's kind of like santa claus tbh. Very nice and is lenient with test grades when the class is failing. He understands that the calc 1 is hard. He weighed high in hw and attendance in order to help others that were struggling to pass. "The prerequisite for calc 1 is failing it the first time" INSPIRING WORDS LOL

This class is a joke. It's called "History of Math," but there's no history here; just be prepared to use a bunch of boring, antiquated formulas to solve trivial elementary school problems. It's difficult only in that the knowledge imparted is outdated and literally completely useless and there is zero reason to care beyond the grade.

Most of the time, I had no idea what he was saying. I still got A's & B's on exams though. You have to at least grasp the basic concepts of what he is teaching. If you can do that either by practice/do the hw or videos/khan acad, you're likely to pass. Exams are pretty simple because he wants us to pass.

Wheeler cares about what he's teaching & certainly wants his students to pass under one condition: if you show up. Attendance is extremely important as he regularly drops hints as to what's going to be on exams. If you're not there, boo-hoo. Not a class for the irresponsible. If you practice the worksheets, show up, & listen, you will get an A.

Professor Wheeler was a great professor for Calculus 2. He lectures slow and neat. Gives homework for extra practice but doesn't collect or grade it. He gives good study guides and allows cheat sheets for all midterms and the final. I did well on all the tests, and they are most (or all) of your grade.

The class may be more difficult for those who don't have a strong math background. There are 3 exams and a final. He said there would be HW but never really gave us any. My biggest problems with this class were that he never made the iLearn page visible and he wasn't always in his office during office hours. Lectures can be very boring as well.

Okay well professor Wheeler was fine! It was really sad he couldn't teach anymore because of this pandemic, so the TA took over and HE WAS INSANEEE!! Professor Wheeler dropped one midterm out of 2 and the final was decent! I hope he can teach after this pandemic ends, he's very clear!
