He is a great teacher! I highly recommend taking his class! He goes over everything very well and is always there for you to go too! You can ask as many questions and he makes u feel like you know what your doing!You dont write to many essays and he grades them fairly! Take him! It will be weel worth it.

He's really good professor he really puts in a lot of time inot explaining things. For example, right turning in an assignment he goes in deph of what many people had errors on. Mr wightman is the best teacher here at Las Positas College. His class is highly enjoyable and it is pretty easy as well. Attendance is necessary for a good grade. English 1A with Mr. Wightman has been a pleasure to be in so far. We read two books, Write a new paper about every 2 weeks, write in a journal once a week, and have small discussions on news articles, the books, we read, and other general issues. It's fascinating, a lot of work, and Mr. Wightman is by far the best English teacher I've ever had.

I am taking English 100A with Professor Wightman this Spring. So far, we have had two essays and some little assignments here and there. Mr. Wightman is very laid back, and lets you get most (if not all) of the work done during class. If you have questions he is usually good about finding the answers if he does not know them.

Mr. Wightman is a great English teacher. He grades sort of rough on essays, but he is really helpful and is always available to proofread your rough drafts. I just emailed him mine before I turned them in and got B+/A's on most of my papers. The books you read aren't too interesting, but he does his best to keep you entertained.

I took his English 1A class in Fall 09 and it was a blast. He was one of the easiest English teachers I have ever had. Even still, the curriculum makes you think and has that 'real life' application. I'm glad he would always respond via email. It is a shame that Mr. Wightman is retired. If you see him on the schedule for a semester to come, enroll!

Great teacher. Very nice and understanding. He is clear on what he wants and emails you back in less then a day whenever you email him. If you do the homework and do decent on the essays you will do good in the class. Usually gets out of class 15-20 minutes early.Definitely recommended.

Very helpful! Just a few quizes from the book, Farwell to Manzanar, and a few articles. Doesn't great to hard on the 4 essays that we did. I missed a few days this semester but I still have a good grade. He looks intimidating and strict, but is just the opposite. Just don't talk over him and your fine.

This guy is a no-nonsense- world class teacher. His methods of teaching is great. This guy is not petty like all the other professors at LPC. He grades well and you can learn a lot from him. I recommend taking him for English.

If you have trouble with English, you won't after taking his class. He's super helpful, very clear, and super lenient, if you don't understand something, he'll explain again. Easy workload, and a fun class. You'll pass as long as you come to class and do the work.

As far as teachers go, he's pretty good. If you do your work and put forth the effort you'll get the grade you deserve. He can be a bit loud during lecture ( he sometimes shouts unintentionally, but it's usually just because he's trying to make a point), but, all in all, I would recommend him. Greatest teacher that ever walked through Las Positas campus.

You can clearly see that Professor Wightman is dedicated to his profession and that he enjoys teaching. He is helpful and always returns papers in a timely manner. He is a bit of a tough grader though but it is a good thing to be challenged. We have stayed on schedule per the syllabus which I appreciate.

Mr. Wightman was incredibly helpful with his comments on my essay's. His class was also incredibly easy, easier than most of my high school English classes. He want's you to write in whatever style suits you. If you want to use colloquial language, then he recommends that you do. He gave the class an independent study period that spanned a month!

A great professor who is above all fair to his students. His class requires quite a bit of reading and writing but isn't anything to hard. He is clear from the beginning as to what he expects and teaches a well organized class

Kind, helpful, and caring. No office hours but will meet by appointment. No extra credit. Quizzes are easy A's as long as you read and understand the material. Essays about every two weeks but he lets you rewrite the previous essay for a new grade. A little bit of a tough grader on essays but send him a rough draft week before it's due for help.

This professor has a good sense of humor which makes the class fun. There's three essays and rewrites. He is strict on grading the essays, but do not get discouraged. Try to fix as much grammar mistakes as possible and be specific! There's also some easy reading quizzes and some research papers. Overall, if you try hard enough, you will get B or A.

He grades relatively easy and there isn't any real homework( like grammar worksheets or anything like that) other than essays. He is really clear and if you have any questions, he will help you out. Also, his syllabus says 6 essays and the research paper, but it's really 3 cuz you rewrite and resubmit for another grade. Overall a really good prof.

Great teacher, grades pretty strict. You have to put in effort in order to pass. Essay due about every 2-3 weeks, but enough notice is given and it is clear what the assignment is. Along with essay and reading assignments you'll have a research paper that will be due by the end of the semester.

I am taking English 1A taught Mr. Wightman. I quite enjoy being in his class because he is very engaging and considerate towards his students. Professor Wightman hands out many resources to help with your writing. He uses many worksheets to perfect grammar, spelling, etc. This is a class where participation is key. He respects students, especially if they do not want to participate. I think this extremely respectable for a teacher to make sure his students are comfortable.

He's a really nice and funny guy. Honestly one of the best english classes i've taken. As long as you listen to what he says, and follow the instructions correctly, you shouldn't have an issue. Stay on top of the readings and essays and you should be fine, and the whole semester sets you up for the final research essay at the end of the semester.

Mr. Wightman is one of the best English teachers I've had. He gave us pop quizzes on chapters of the book that he assigns for homework, so make sure to read and be prepared. He assigns an essay 1-2 times a month as well. You'll get a good grade if you do the work. If you take his class, you'll become a greater and more knowledgeable writer.
