Dan is the Man!! He is super-helpful, always in his office, and responds to emails within minutes! He's most of the reason that I ended up with 99 in calc.

The thing I'll remember most is when he started dancing in his chair at 'Pints with Profs'. Priceless :)

Now, this is the best lecturer I have ever had. Outstanding! He is genuinely interested in his students and lets you know that you can stop by his office hours any time he is there. He is always happy to see you and to help you out and he really knows what he is talking about. He does require you to do the work and you will learn plenty from him.

An awesome prof, an awesome guy, and a certified ballet dancer (!) His lectures are clear and entertaining and he was always available for help outside class. Seriously, if you can take his section, take it - that's how good he is.

I like him especially when he dances and says" Err, I can't talk today!" He is a prof who always has a big smiling face. He is easy to follow. I didn't recognize him last time simply because he was not smiling.^_^

I come from BC where linear algebra is not covered AT ALL. And I found myself two weeks into the first semister in a linear algebra class that is shrunk into one semister when other classes (even the honours math) take two semisters to cover the course material we did! But thanks to his tutor sessions I managed to pass! Dan is my saviour.

this teacher was awesome! he always made jokes and was always smiling and whatever, which helped, because math gets kinda boring sometimes. he was also very helpful when you needed any help, which is definitely a plus!

OH HE IS THE BEST! He is hilarrrious, plus very clear. One of the few teachers we can understand! Will go out of his way to help you, and is very fair about marks. I miss not having him: you are excessively lucky if you do have him!

His lectures are epic! He is a mathematical god! He makes lectures interesting and fun (yes, fun!). They are always packed because everyone wants to be in his class. And he says things like "...this is why math is awesome!" and he does a spherical coordinate dance move! ... EPIC!

Very enthusiastic prof. Attended his math 137 and 136 lec and thought he was really good. However, in his math 235 class, I realized he's really wordy with his board work, so it felt like I was reading a textbook. Stresses importance but not key ideas. Assumes everyone's a genius so he doesn't explain the basics thoroughly. Very hard on the final.

Diligent and interesting prof, he's also a nice guy and very patient during office hours. The course was still difficult, but he did all he could to provide extra help. I'm glad the university made him in charge of MATH 237, being a very important MATH course, other profs would sour the course. Simply put, the best MATH lecturer I've ever had.

One of the greatest Profs in my life. His passion is amazing!! I've attended his math136,235,237 courses and my problem-solving skill has a great improvement with his help. He's a perfectly,extremely,totally,absolutely,definitely amazing prof!! Although..good prof..always have bad jokes! =P I enjoy taking his lectures. He loves teaching math!!

Also very energetic and hilarious, keeps the class interesting. Get him for every course you can, I very well might have failed this course had I not had him.

One of the BEST prof you can find on campus! Extremely enthusiastic in lectures! Been teaching for 9 years now and hence knows the materials really well. Give loads of examples which are helpful in assignments. Try your best to get into his class you won't regret it!

Enthusiastic (eccentric), pleasant, and cleverer than you might suppose from the jester's act he puts on. Take his lectures. Do iiit.

Also had him for MATH 235, 237. Amazing prof! Notes are clear, great enthusiasm, always gives time for questions and answers them well. Examples during class are extremely helpful for the assignments, midterms, and final exams. Always offers a review session before the exam. Highly recommend him, if you can get into his sections!

Dan is great, there's nothing more too it. To me, that's kind of the problem. Every class is 'going to be awesome', and it's all theorem, proof, example. His classes are so structured that it becomes boring, even though it's easy to pay attention. He says things are cool, but I want him to try and convey why it is they are cool.

Dan is the prof that will bring you through linear algebra world smoothly. He's that kind of prof where you'll feel personal friendship with, not only a prof with 150 students. he remembers people's faces, and say hi if meet you outside class

The man was made for teaching Linear Algebra. I find it incredibly easy to retain the information when he's teaching it. Highly recommended. I had him for 136 and 235.

Uhh wow I'm guessing the comment below was because of the midterm. Dan is a good teacher and a really nice person but.. his exams are really hard.. he needs to understand that not everyone is a genius like him.. and most people dont need to do these useless proofs unless they're going into like pure math. But hes just teaching the course..

Dan is the type of lecturer you want. Funny, engaging and very clear. He also gives a lot of very helpful advice for you to become a better mathematician.

Very energetic, and engages the class frequently. It's a difficult course if you don't like proofs, he tries is best to help you through it. Since he wrote the course notes, he doesn't teach from them (like some other profs do), instead he provides further examples to nearly everything in hopes of bringing clarity to each unit.

Dan is a great prof who really cares about teaching and helping his students. The course can be tough, but Dan makes it easy. Uses lots of examples and gives you the tools and tips to excel.

Dan's an awesome prof. His presentation style ROCKS! He also wrote the course notes for the course. His review sessions are very helpful. Marks proof questions really hard. Also, the dancing on the last day of class is very entertaining! I'd highly recommend taking a class with him, for sure.

Linear algebra will be hell without him. I took his class for first time in 1st year, he needed to put bouncers once because the class always packed. In second year, he made math so easy. not to forget, HE DANCE on the last class of the term.

Attend all his classes, he makes it easy, yet the course is extremely hard. Apply yourself outside of classes. He is very helpful during his office hour.

Great prof! Very hard course but if you apply yourself you will do okay. Any other prof makes the material boring and confusing but Dan is clear with difficult concepts.

Absolutely loved him for both Math136 and Math235. His courses ended up being my favourite, even though I hate proofs and theory. He's funny, helpful, and just a great guy. I was never afraid to ask him questions and I looked forward to his class everyday.

Very enthusiastic and extremely helpful. I took the (first ever) online version of MATH136, and he would be online twice a week, every week for an hour just to help students with any questions. Usually only two of us showed up, so he's almost like a private tutor!

So far, best prof in Math at UW. Tried MATH 137 with many other profs, but Dan is the best! Class is always interesting and fun. Dan always waits a solid 10 seconds when he asks if anyone has questions. Great, fun prof. Get him if you can, for any class!!!

Very engaging and interesting prof. Probably the most loved Calc prof there is! Trust me you don't want to skip the last bits of calc2 like i did, (proving taylor inequality and approximation using it). And yeah he is not easy lol, make sure you do the work!

You need to go to the class 15 minutes before the lecture to get a seat. You will never fall asleep in his class.

He is an amazing professor. You will love him. Awesome lectures, awesome notes, gives lots of practice and advice. He is one of the few professors that people fight to get a slot in his class. His classes becomes full within minutes (a little bit of exaggeration lol) of Quest opening up for students to change schedules.

Dan is an incredible lecturer. He manages to make relatively dry subjects fun and engaging. He has a great way of connecting the material in the course and making sure that students understand. He is also there for assistance and very helpful. If you have a choice, choose Dan!

I think Dan single-handedly changed my entire experience in mathematics and how I view the subject. He's held in well-regard, his classes are full almost right away and he needs bouncers to make sure students in his section get a comfortable seat. Definitely the greatest professor I've had so far, and I'd be amazed if there's someone better.

Absolutely amazing professor. I am taking his Linear Algebra course and everything is very easy to understand but the course is still challenging enough to keep me interested. His lectures are easy to follow.

Best prof in UW. Honestly, Math 136 is a hard course to teach. But he still made it easy to understand.

He is a GREAT lecturer. Take his course if you get the chance. His classes were hilarious and there was never a dull moment. I had him as a 9:30 class, and he always woke me up with his energy. I do not have enough good things to say about him. I would choose him again in a heartbeat. (Also ask him to do his dance at the end of the term :D)

Great prof with great sense of humour. He made the abstract concepts of linear algebra easy to understand with his examples and explanations. Super energetic and engaging. He also wrote a math joke on the board every lecture and had special puns on Fridays!

Took both MATH 136 and MATH 235 with Dan and needless to say, I enjoyed both of his courses. He organizes both courses and tries to get around 70% average for 136 and 75% average for 235. Overall a fantastic prof, I recommend taking 136/235 only if Dan is one of the profs for the term.

Awesome prof, can tell he really cares about his students. FInal exam was pretty long (14 questions compared to I believe 10 questions in fall 2017), but the questions were reasonable. I wasn't enrolled in his class but I went to his lectures all term like many others. One of the few courses where I was constantly engaged during class.

The winter 2018 term is a "test" term - this is the first time that assignment worth 5% and final exam worth 70%, I think this is a very good strategy to figure out which type of teaching is the best. I think it is reasonable to set assignment weight to be less to help student use assignment to learn rather than earn a high mark on assignment

Easily the best teacher I've had at university. To be 100% honest, Dan the Man is a little bit quirky (you'll know what I mean if you've had a lecture with him) but his quirkiness keeps you engaged and comfortable in his classes. Linear Algebra is hard to teach and even harder to understand. However, Dan Wolczuk makes it not only bearable, but fun.

The absolute best

Great prof. Lectures are engaging and easy to follow. He's also helpful at office hours. He doesn't give solutions to his practice problems which is a bit frustrating sometimes but it's because he wants you to try to figure it out yourself. You can always compare solutions with other people or ask at office hours.

Math 136 was a toughie. Stuff was really hard to understand and grasp but lectures made it better. Dan is always enthusiastic about class and him making us recite the definition of a basis every time we start class gave me highschool vibes as well as served as a great reminder to what a basis actually is :) Hardest course I've take in uni. glhf

Math 136 is an extremely challenging course, however Dan is an AMAZING lecturer that makes linear algebra seem not that scary. He is engaging, explains concepts well, and also has weekend sessions for extra help with proofs (this was very helpful). Dan is great - you're lucky if you have him!

Though his handwriting was a bit funny to read for the first few days, then you get used to it! One of the best profs in the entire faculty. Dan always brings the energy during lectures and is equally as friendly and helpful during office hours. He's an absolute legend in the department (I've had other profs tell me stories of his genius), but is super friendly and a great professor.

His methods of teaching by examples instead of just reading the textbook to the class are highly effective and more engaging in lectures.

Dan is definitely the best professor I am having right now. He cares a lot about his students and is willing to patiently explain the mathematical concepts. One time when I tried to use another approach to solve a problem and I was having trouble and I got him to help me (which we later found that the answer key was wrong!) and I really liked that!
