I would highly recommend taking this class. Dr. Cantu is a great professor; there isn't any tests but he does expect you to show up to class and participate when were are talking about a subject he brings up. We have about three essays that we write in his class but only about a page or two in length. His class is fun and entertaining, an easy A.

Dr. Canu has been one of the best instructors I've had at STC. He is very upbeat and funny,but most of all very intelligent. He makes you want to go to class and participate. His class is not difficult at all. You do have to write a few essays and two papers but they opinion essays and papers. Again not a difficult class but you do learn a lot.

Great professor, constant journals to engage you to write frequently and a couple of essays here and there. Lenient on late assignments, attendance isn't mandatory but that shouldn't be a problem since you'll be wanting to go to class. His teaching style is by using lots of real life experiences and examples, best way to learn! Class gets full fast

Easy course, great professor, and would take the class again

Before taking this course, I believed there would be many papers since it was a literature class, but there wasnt. Of course there was papers to write but it was so easy and didn't seem like much work. I also had this class in the morning, thinking it would be boring, but Mr. Cantu loves what he does that he makes the class so fun and inspiring.

I was really skeptical on taking English due to the fact that it was my worst subject in public school. Dr. Cantu is one of the best English professors at South Texas College. He will guide you through the entire process when it comes to assignments as well as lectures. He does assign daily journals & 4 essays. I will be taking him again soon.

I loved Dr. Cantus class. This was the type of class that i did not mind going because it was so fun. He has so many funny stories to tell and I enjoyed listening to them. The assignments are super easy and you will pass the class if you do the work youre supposed to do.

The is class is easy since there wasn't a lot of essays or assignments. Most of the time, he would ask students to read a short story or poem before lecture, but nothing too demanding. He is cheerful, inspiring, and funny. He expect student to participate in activities. However, you won't your grade in class because he procrastinate on grading.

You do have to go to class to write the mini essays about the days topic, he does attendance through that. Overall, it is worth going to his class, he keeps the class engaged understanding not everyone is great at writing but that there is always room for improvement. Dr. Cantu is a pretty great professor. He was recommended to me by one of the security guards that said he was one of the more seeked out English professors. New essay is given about every week or two, very easy. Do your assignments, and show up and you'll do great in his class. Not lecture heavy, keeps the class entertained while teaching.

After having a very rough semester i can say Mr. Cantu is so far the best professor i ever had. He does give work You do need to work for your A but it will be easy because he teaches enlish with alot of passion. I didnt know how to write essays before his class, but after his class im really confident. If you want an A you have to work for it.

I loved taking this professor! I am not an English Major, I took English II just for basic credit for my bachelor's. I hate essays/papers, but papers weren't assigned a lot at all. The papers are very do able and I actually had fun doing them considering I hate doing essays in general. Always go to class, at times brief work is turned in at the end

Professor Cantu is the best teacher I have ever had. His class was super stress free and very fun. I took him for Intro to Literatrue and we only did two take home assignments which he gave us a week to do. We only took two test which were out midterm and final and thats it. We watched movies, read poems and had rap battles. Highly recommend!!!!!!

I loved this class just like I loved taking 1301 with him too. It is so easy and he does not stress you out or make the assignments difficult. All we did was watch movies or documentaries then write papers on them. I wrote about 4-5 2 pg essays and the rest were 1-page essays you do in class. The final was an essay and there were no group projects.

Dr. Cantu is such an outstanding individual; he possesses an incredible charisma, and really makes general learning & literary articulation fun. A blessed bloke indeed. Throughout the semester, he will give you 6 essays in total. The first 2 are easier, the next 3 require a works cited page, and the last one is a two-page essay from the final exam.

Dr. Dana Cantu's class is AMAZING I took him for 1302 and his class is forsure an EASY A ! 3 Major EASY essays and 1 Final, No Tests and No Presentations! TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Dr. Cantu is a great teacher, he makes class fun and easy. We only did 4 essays and one final, which are easy. A journal is needed throughout the semester and if you have any questions he will gladly help you. Overall if you want an easy A take him.

Cantu is one of the best instructors I had this semester! Easy A and his class was always entertaining. He is super hilarious and really easy to talk to. Lots of drama in this class, and you can stay behind after class and have chats with him about assignments and so on. I highly recommend taking his class.

This class was absolutely amazing, not only was it fun yet very educational. It is a class with interesting topics to write about not your typical boring lectures. Definitely do not miss class because you will write some off the topics so do not skip class. He is really easy going and can turn in late work with some of points educated of course.

Dr Cantu makes the class interesting and enjoyable. Lots of class participation, dont be shy in this class. Expect the unexpected from this professor. Lots of writing in this class, four papers and daily journals. Project presentation about a hobby at the end.

Dr. Cantu is great, his lectures were easy to follow and he loves including videos and movies in his lecture. He has incredible patience and easy to get along with. He loves to hear your ideas on subjects. Take your notes! he lets you use them in class, also try to come into class, he has daily little assignments, but they are easy! take him!

Dr. Cantu is probably one of the best professors at STC! We had to turn in our journals every 2-3 weeks which consisted of at least 10 pages and any extra page written equaled to extra credit. We also wrote a total of 4 essays and had to give a presentation the second to the last week of school about one of our hobbies. He'll make you laugh a lot!!

Dr. Cantu is an amazing professor. He is very funny and his classes are never boring. he gives you enough time to complete and turn in your assignments on time. Doesn't give pop quizzes. You do have to write notes but it's not a lot. I would definitely take his class again.

This class helped me forget about my depression, anxiety. I'm a very shy person and this class, I would actually participate in group things. I felt very comfortable in this class, I wanted to go for science education, but after this class I'm changin my major to English. Best classs I've taken so far. You do have to work for your grade!

Dr. Cantu is one of South Texas College's most inspirational professors, having been a community college student himself, he truly understands what it takes to push his students to the next level. At the beginning of all his lectures, you are greeted with enthusiasm, and there is never a dull moment in his teachings. Amazing professor and human.

A total of 4 essays and the final , short journal entries everyday but they are very fun, the topics are easy to write and be creative. All I can say the class is great, the professor always full of energy, positive attitude and definitely different from other ordinary boring english classes. Thank you professor Cantu!

The class was absolutely great, even though he was REALLY cringey sometimes, he is a really good professor. His essays are not difficult whatsoever and he always cares to explain what it is that you are learning. His is the easiest English class there is.

Professor Cantu was a sweetheart, I will be taking English 1302 with him, & I am so excited to do so! He gives extra credit toward the end of the course in case anyone wants to do it, & is super responsive with Pronto messages! The course consists of 4 rough drafts & essays, 1 final, & several discussions + you get to choose the topic! Take him!!!

Loved this class, I currently signed up for his 1302 class but there was no in person. ): So understanding, funny, and always in a great mood.His lectures are very interesting and easy to understand. Only way you will fail is if you just sit there and do literally nothing.

Great professor, not a tough grader, his assignments consisted of a quiz, sometimes discussions, there were about 5 papers in total. His quizzes are open-ended and they very easy questions. His papers were easy topics. His final was about 12 questions and a short essay which was easy. Responds fast

HE COOKED. He was real, but he did not grade my late work; I was working overnight shifts. The essays were easy, but in the end, they were 7-8 pages long. I had to step up my essay skills since I have not written an essay since 2019. TAKE HIM HE IS SO EASY AND FUN.

Mr.Cantu class was an easy A. Each week there was a discussion and quiz on the lectures. He provides the book but you can get by with only the lectures. I believe there was around 6 Essays between 3-5 pages. Be prepared to write all essays in MLA format, read a lot of articles and cite everything. He gives great feedback and is an easy grader.

If you are looking for an easy A his class is the class you need! made my semester less stressful. In total there were 3 papers, 1 research paper, 5 discussions and every week there was a quiz.

I enjoyed taking this class, I learned a lot, I highly recommend it. The professor is well organized, he is clear with grading criteria, and gives clear instructions of what is expected from your essays, etc. and provides good feedback. Get ready to write because you will learn a lot about the classical, rogerian and toulmin argument. He's nice.

Dr. Cantu is a magnificent professor. It was a fun yet educational class. I struggled a lot with English in high school, but Dr. Cantu changed my view of English. There were a total of 15 quizzes, 10 discussions, 4 papers including a research paper, and an easy final. He also gave a TON of extra credit so if you managed your time, you'll pass.

Mr. Dana Cantu is a great professor. He's very understanding and makes the class easy to follow. I took his course online, and the workload was light and manageable. He doesn't overwhelm you with assignments, and there's NO Honorlock, which makes things less stressful. As long as you stay on track, it's easy to pass. I highly recommend his class!

I took Dr. Cantu for English 1302 Composition II - Rhetoric for the Spring 2025 semester and he's one of the best Professors that STC has. As long as you do all your work and turn it in you should be able to pass his class. Easy A+. I highly recommend him!
