consider yourself lucky if you have crotwell as your teacher. her class is not easy but you will learn a lot and she is very fair. shes willing to sit down with you and spoon feed you the essays, take advatage and learn.

will take time out to help if you, as long as you put in some effort on your part. The class is not the easiest but it is very possible to get a good grade.

Mrs. Crotwell is an excellent teacher. However, her liberal bias does come through, which I think hurts the purpose of a critical thinking course. The socratics are awesome and the course material was interesting. Its tough but she's an easy grader.

I've taken all her classes and I wish she taught more. She is absolutely the BEST professor out there. If you want to learn and at the same time have fun take her class, but beware her classes are not easy but are the most rewarding. Mrs. Crotwell, I just want you to know that you are you're #1.

Professor Crotwell does a fine job of teaching this class; our subject was "tolerance" in society. You can't be lazy, you must do your work and read ahead of time in order to be sucessful. If want to just go through the motions because you don't like English classes, then you won't have a good time.

she is the BEST teacher ever! i had so much fun in that class! The first day i was a little scared because of the big syllabus she puts in front of you,but she really knows how to make it all really easy! Her lectures are so interesting even if you don't like english. Her class was never boring. i got in A in her class. i suggest her Big time!!

Dana is the most awesome teacher ever. All of her readings are very interesting. She really goes out of her way to help you when you are struggling putting words together. Sometimes I had a hard time reading poetry, I had to read it over and over and still didn't understand, but Dana makes it more clear. I love that lady so much.

Doctor Crotwell is the best teacher at el camino lots of help and patience from her part. from the goodness of her heart and her own free time she helped me to be succesful. I got A in both her classes.

This class required a lot of reading. Mrs. Crotwell was very helpful. She always responded to my e-mails and helped me whenever I needed help. Her nice and funny personality made the class enjoyable. I recommend this class for everyone.

I took her for both 1A and 1C, and she's an amazing teacher. I would recomend her if you have the chance. She will always try to help you wherever she can, and makes her lectures interesting so we can relate to it

I absolutely LOVE this professor! She's so nice and so into what she teaches. She gets you involved by using subjects that actually relate to you and is very flexible. Class discussions were fun. I always looked forward to coming to this class. And the class presentation is fun as well.

Mrs. Crotwell is, by far, the best instuctor at El Camino College. Her English class is so much fun and her teaching technique enables you to understand the material efficiently. super easy. tests are NOT hard. Made subject simple. Take this teacher. She is awesome. English is my weakest subject, yet i got an A for both 1a and 1b. Easy, easy, easy class. She is very helpful. Socratics can be nerve breaking, but as long as you say two things, you'll be ok.

Crotwell u are awesome. The class was challenging, but i learned a lot. Our class had to read 11 books but we all fought through it. The class was well worth my time< but if you are lazy and dont like to read and analyze this class is not for you.

This prof. is a funny gal! Great class, pretty easy and a lot of learning happens. Essays are straightforward, she tells you what she wants to read. Tests are intimidating at first but its not hard. Take her, fun class..

crotwell is a brilliant teacher. she is super quirky and easy to learn from. i took her during the winter and there were INSANE amounts of assignments, but nonetheless capable of being kept up with. she breaks every reading down into detail, which helps if you have a hard time comprehending a novel/play. amazing lady!

Best english class/prof ever! She keeps class interesting, and she's just really cool. There are a few essays, but she gives you alot of constructive criticism. The midterm is objective and super easy. She gave 1 extra credit assn at the beginning, so make sure you do that. And there's a group project at the end so make sure you're in a good group.

I loveeee herrrr!! She is the best! I already love English and taking her just made it soo much better! We wrote a couple of papers but she goes through them step-by-step! :] Love her! Take her no matter what!

this teacher was sooo awesome, had her for winter(good decision). I would definitely recommend her, teaches well and is fairly easy. very easy if you do all the work. there are a lot of books you have to read but you can sparknotes them(whoops, did i say that?)

took professor crotwell for the winter and she was amazing! all the books we read were so interesting, i didn't mind staying up late reading! easy A if you work hard, but it's almost impossible to get anything lower than a C in her class. i definitely recommend her!

mrs. crotwell was a wonderful teacher that not just teaches english, but how we can bring change to the most horrid problems with the world...and how to write that in a persuasive essay. she connects the books and texts with one another and to the student. if you don't pick her you're a FOOL!

Professor Crotwell is an amazing teacher. She's very helpful and the assignments can actually be pretty fun. She's not too strict and she's pretty mellow. You have to earn your grade but if you have ANY problems with understanding the assignment, she's more than willing to help.

Just do all the work that she assigns and you'll get an A! She's always there to help. A lot of essays but she grades fairly easy. All of her books were interesting and easy to read. Def recommend her class!

Crotwell is one of the best professors I've had at ElCo. Her style of teaching is impossible not to like because she connects with her students and compares her lessons to everyday life. By far one of the best teachers at El Camino. She is extremely nice, answers EVERY question and makes writing fun. She lays out everything and sticks to schedule, extremely organized. Professor Crotwell is my FAVORITE! This class gave me a different prospective on literature from Latin America, through this class I have discovered a love of poetry. She is the Kindest person, and she wants nothing more than to see her students succeed. She makes you laugh. She also challenges you examine life's big picture, your purpose.

This was my first semester back to college in years. Prof. Crotwell was amazing. I learned so much in her Eng. 1A class. Be prepared to read, but it's not too much. I loved the fact that she engages a lot with the class. By the end of the semester, it was as though she became friends with each student. She's very approachable, too. Must take her.

Need any help or want to find out ur grade just go up and talk to her. Jst take notes, read the books *barely*(Or don't), & check syllabus for dates. Easy!

Such a great teacher . She's so nice and her class is really easy and fun. But be aware that she does take attendance even if you don't realize that she did, so be at every class or she will drop you.

Crotwell is the best! Very easy class but does require effort. She is happy to give you the grade you earn and if you pay attention and do what's required you will get an A. Her notes are weird and I did not like them but that's the only pitfall. Overall I had a great experience taking her 1C class

In her essays, she expects you to have at least 3 warrants and a good counter argument. She gives a lot of group work, but they're easy. I wouldn't mind taking her again

There will be lots of reading so it's best to take another class. She is nice, and wants to prepare her students for the university writing level but if you want an easy semester, do not take her. Also, the textbook is not necessary to buy.

Biggest Pro's of Crotwell: -She's fun to talk with, relatable, and gets you to know other people often. -Gives you a BUNCH of tiime for essays.(Nearly a month!) Biggest Con's of Crotwell: -She's a strong Feminist(not radical, but just too much.) -She gives real criticism(both pro and con really..) -Lot's of reading. I mean lots.

She really wants her students to pass. If you need help just go to her office hours and trust me you will pass. if she see you trying she will make things a lot easy fro you. also funny. she also calls you by your favorite food.

She is a great professor. Participation is important. If you do most of the work properly, It is a sure A. Extra credit papers are there to get some extra points if you miss some points from another assignment. Take her for your English courses. Lectures are amazing and realistic.

Took English 1A with Prof. Crotwell and I explored and learned a lot about so many different topics. Lessons are interesting and she cares about her students. It can be a lot of reading some days but it is helpful. Would highly recommend definitely worth it

Crotwell is of the highest quality as far as professors in a CC go. She is bursting at the seams with knowledge, not only about the reading she assigns, but also about who wrote it. She likes conversation and a good debate. She wants to hear your voice. Frankly I'm not sure why she's still at a CC, so learn from her while you have the chance.

Professor Crowell was amazing, I loved her class!!!I took her for a winter session which is already supposed to be difficult because of the pace, but she made it seem easy. Be prepared to read and learn a lot, she is so knowledgeable in what she teaches. Dropped my English 1C for spring to take it with her in the summer. I strongly recommend her.

She's honestly one, if not the best teacher that i've come across for english. First day is scary with the packets she gave us, but we use them all throughout the semester & are a big help! She's so funny and gives out extra credit work that you should really take advantage of because it's that easy. Reading the books is a must your gonna use them.

Prof. Crotwell is the most down to earth teacher I've ever had in school thus far. She assigns fun reading assignments that totally relate to the real world and really get you thinking about life. An unbelievably fair grader and entertaining lecturer, though I wish she was a little harder on kids who clearly didn't read or participate. TAKE HER!

Professor Crotwell is one of the best professors I have taken so far. She is so passionate about her teaching and cares a lot about her students. You might be surprised that she required you to read a lot, but those books just enjoyable and easy to read. Her tests are easy and she gave a lot of extra credit. Take her you, you will learn a lot.

Crotwell is extremely helpful so if you dont pass its most likely your fault. Her research paper will take most of your time when its assigned. If you read the Socratic seminar questions far in advance you wont really have to read the books. Textbook is practically unused so dont get it.

If you skip class you will not pass. Professor Crotwell made English 1A at 8am so much better than any other teacher would have. She requires a lot more reading than the average 1A teacher, and she tells you. She is Hilarious, and will inspire you to get a good grade. She ALWAYS gives clear directions on any assignment

Professor Crotwell explains things very well and I have learned a lot since being in her classes. English has always been my least favorite subject but Professor Crotwell has made me appreciate the subject.

Professor Crotwell is great if you want a professor whose assignments are challenging, but not impossible. She's very understanding and is exceedingly inclined to listen to your ideas and thoughts than just instruct. In my experience, she respects creativity and is lenient in how you do an assignment as long as you complete the required tasks.

Prof. Crotwell will somehow find a way to inspire you every morning at 8am. She really makes you think outside the box. Her feedback is AMAZING & she is CLEAR on every assignment. If you don't show up to class, you miss so much because she goes at a fast pace. I will be taking her again. She's absolutely great. We need more Prof. like her.

She's the best English professor I've ever taken. You have three papers due throughout the semester, one being a research paper. You also have two in class essay's based on the reading and a film you watch. You do have to keep up with the readings, because you use them as sources for the essays. She's really chill and understanding.

Probably the best English teacher at a El Camino. She's really nice and always makes sure you are doing good in class. There are 3 essays that have to be done which can be a bit tough if you're not good at writing but she's a bit lenient at times. A lot of reading as well but the books are really good.

Took her for both English 1A & English 1C. She is an amazing professor who truly has a passion for teaching, She is influential when it comes to social changes. She has a good sense of humor and ties personal life experiences to her lectures (which makes it more memorable). Her class contains a lot of reading but nothing too overwhelming.

She is one of the best English professors at the campus! She encouraged and inspired me to change my major to English because I was confused about what I wanted to do at the time. I really recommend her class. Just do the readings and essays and you'll pass.

Professor Crotwell is thee most amazing. She is very helpful, understanding, always available if you have any questions. There is a lot of reading but nothing too overwhelming. So inspiring and she has a sense of humor. There was never a dull moment with her. I was able to get a B in her class. I'd definitely take her class again.

Crotwell is honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. She is very passionate about teaching which makes class enjoyable and never boring. The books she has us read are memorable and some of my favorites now. She gives great feedback on essays and her socratic seminars were fun even for me, a person who fears public speaking.

Such an incredible educator! Take her class! Had her for Winter sesh/2019. Prepare to push yourself! I've never read or written so much in any 5 week period of my life, but she made herself available to help in any way she could and her personal stories made class a joy. She took my writing and critical thinking skills to the next level. The Best!

Professor Crotwell is by far the best English instructor Ive ever had!! She is so funny and sarcastic and does her best to keep the content relevant and entertaining Very heavy and sometimes dense readings but nothing too extreme. I would take her class a million times if I could!! Definitely take her for English 1c if you have the chance

AMAZING TEACHER. She is soo understanding and approachable. She really gets you to think about things and pushes you to do better. If I had to take English again, I would 100% take it with her!

There is a lot of material covered in this class. Lots of reading, essays, socratics, one presentation but Crotwell gives you all the resources to do well. Homework mostly invloved reading on your own or a small writing assignment. She is friendly and funny which made the class enjoyable for me. It's a lot but she made it easy.

Such a helpful professor. Prob do a couple essays and a research paper that is basically the whole grade of the class but as long as you finish that you should be good. just do all the work honestly. She is very helpful and easy going on her final that we just did a presentation about anything we wanted which was pretty easy.

While the amount of reading may seem daunting at first, you'll learn it isn't too bad. Prof. Crotwell prepares her students for future classes and gives great feedback on essays. She gives entertaining lectures and analyzes important course material which supplement essays. Lucky to have had her. :)

Prof. Crotwell is the most inspiring and loving professor I've ever had the pleasure of having. Being in FYE also helped bind a solid relationship between her and our class. She will always go above and beyond for her students and gives AMAZING feedback. If you know what you're doing, you will have a fun and easy time. But make sure to READ!

In the beginning I was stressed with the heavy reading, but I just worked to get the pages done, We had 3 essays to do, one big research paper that will determine if you will pass the class. She is the best professor compared to others. Whenever grading your papers she will comments on what to improve on and what you did good on. Take her class!

Prof. Crotwell gives such amazing feedback!! I love her so much, and she's great at communicating with you if you need to make adjustments to assignments or want more feedback. I wish I could have taken her for more than one English class. Savor her personality and her teaching style! You'll wish all your English profs were like her!

I loved Prof Crotwell and her class. Definitely a lot of reading, but she made me actually want to do it. Super sweet and caring! She was always willing to help and never made you feel ashamed.

I think that professor Crotwell is a good teacher. However, I took English 1C during the summer session and I, as an English major, considered dropping the class at least once a week. She gives unreasonable deadlines for readings, where sometimes you will be given 70 pages of difficult reading, and she will make a project due on it the next day.

Read the books, do your assignments. She does go a little fast but also adapts to your learning, would 100% take her again, she is very understanding, especially during the Pandemic.

The best English teacher I have ever had!!! She is so caring, understandable, and sweet. She leaves comments on every assignment which helps you improve. Her assignments are not boring and actually matter. If you try and meet her expectations then you will certainly get an A.

She is one of those rare professors who cares about the material and the students. She'll help you succeed and learn more than you thought you could. This class has a lot of readings in order to survey all of the countries. While it may seem overwhelming, it is a rewarding experience. She's an expert in her field, and gives you resources to do well

At one point, there were essays after essays due. However, my writing did improve a lot, and Professor Crotwell had a delightful class. She cares about students' improvement and is very lovely to work with. Would recommend.

The big assignments are four essays and Socratic Seminars, and a 40 Qs on logical fallacies. Some assignments are time-consuming and boring, while some are fun and short. You will read many short essays from philosophers and two exciting books: Lysistrata and Candide (They are not long at all). You will need to read in order to get an A.

Crotwell is everything you'd want in a solid professor. She grades really fast, gives good feedback, and you can tell she cares about her students and the material. She assigns a couple assignments a week with a paper every few weeks; pretty manageable. As long as you put in effort you'll be good to go

I loved this class. There are a lot of readings, but they all have such great information that can be useful outside of this class. Great personality, gives good feedback, and allows room to truly express your thoughts in essays and discussions. All topics covered in this class were meaningful and thought provoking.

I have taken her for both English 1A/1C and she is very flexible/understanding with her assignments. She usually goes above and beyond with grading, along with being very sociable. She is a very wonderful person to be around and gives great feedback. Definitely my number one pick as a professor for English in general.

She is a really nice teacher and cares about people doing good in her class. There is a lot of work at the start of her course and will continue throughout her course. If you utilize her for help, she is more than happy to provide information or clarification on assignments. If you do the work on time and ask for help when struggling, you will pass

Prof. Crotwell is the best! Her class is straight forward and her assignments are easy to do. If you just follow her instructions, you will for sure pass her class! Super easy when grading too and gives great feedback. Her midterm and finals are super easy, this is coming from someone who is terrible in English. 10/10 professor!

Prof. Crotwell is a very open-minded and inspirational person. She encourages students to find their own poetry style by emphasizing the writing process. She is excellent, and will help you discover interests and skills that you never thought you'd have. Get ready to read, participate in workshops/online discussion boards, and have fun!

Prof. Crotwell opened my mind about poetry. If you are a creative person, this class is perfect for you. There's no judgment on subjects of poems, and she'll let you explore your own style, while also letting you try new styles for the first time. Midterm and final are vocabulary terms and I recommend starting those early and not last minute.

Had Crotwell for 1A and now 1C. Still an easy class! There is a little more work each week and more papers but she prepares everyone by giving them notes on what to bring for the sources. Not sure why many people in my class are struggling as she is very lenient and easy grader! Doing the work will get you an A!

Prof. C, was great! Had for summer she's a fast grader. I learned so much in this class. Yes it's heavy reading & writing but I was exposed to the works of Socrates, Plato, Emerson, Thoreau, the Greek tragedies such as Candide, Lysistrata and Antigone, human trafficing & MLK's Birmingham Jail letter. The class opened my mind and I would take again.

She's literally the BEST English teacher I've ever had in my life. I would not recommend her for a winter class, as there's a lot of work to be done even when I took her for fall, but just follow her criteria and go to Office Hours. She expects a lot from you but helps you meet her expectations. Her class was super enjoyable and she's not boring!

Had Prof. Crotwell three times; 1A, 1C, and 1B. Truly the most caring and understanding person that shows her passion in literature without being too difficult. Prof. Crotwell also helped me find a passion for writing after I lost it many years ago. If you want someone who cares and supports you, take this class!!

Professor Crotwell is amazing. I'm wanting to be an English teacher, and she's furthered my belief in myself as well as my love for all things English. She LOVES to annotate and read books. She keeps it very lively, and cracks some jokes sometimes. She encourages us in our writing of complicated essay types. Take her class! Lots of reading but fun

I took her course for the winter, which had a LOT of reading and writing (1 paper due per week), but I do think she was a bit more lenient with her grading because of that as my grades and the mean scores as shown on canvas were pretty good as well. Has clear instructions and expectations, and all materials can be accessed online if not provided.

Professor Crotwell runs a challenging yet rewarding class. Her feedback is invaluable, and she genuinely cares about her students' growth. I found Unstuck AI helpful for preparing essays and staying on top of the workload.

Professor Crotwell is a great English Professor. If you follow her guidelines and criteria accordingly then you'll be fine! There is an excess amount of homework at times, and she is a bit disorganized. If you read the assigned readings, the class will be a breeze! There is about 3 essays, one researcher paper, and a presentation!

Great professor! Sometimes online instructions can seem overwhelming or confusing, but organizing them in a Google Doc does the job. Super sweet, lenient, and responds to emails fast. Literally, as long as you do all the work, you'll earn an A! (Lots of reading and analyzing, keep up with it to not fall behind)

This professor was absolutely amazing! Though there were essays about every other week, it was pretty manageable and she was always there ready to help! She gives great feedback showing she truly cares about her class.

Professor Crotwell is one of the best instructors at ECC! I have taken her for two courses now and I had a great time in both. She always provides awesome feedback, is very caring, and is super passionate about what she does. Yes there are a lot of assignments in her courses, but as long as you make genuine efforts, you will be fine.
